Where did you read this?
I don't see anywhere saying buying air freight makes you not have to pay VAT on the order.
I thought that's what it meant due to it being under exceptions
I must have assumed wrong
It says you don't have to include SHIPPING into the VAT calculation (that is you're not paying a percentage of the shipping, only the order itself)
And yes - If you received an email saying you need to pay VAT, you need to pay VAT. It was removed during checkout, and the courier will reach out once the package is at customs.
