#Problem with FN Layer 2 and missing Symbols

Hi,
since I only need one FN layer, I deleted layer 2 in order to be able to use the keybind required for it differently. Unfortunately, layer 2 keeps coming back after a restart. (I saved my profile)

And I'm missing symbols like ] [ @ ~ , as I would like to bind some of them on other keys.

I think those are secondary characters and need to be used with a modifier. Which layout are you using ANSI-US or any ISO?

As was mentioned, symbols like ] [ @ ~ , all come from the keyboard layout you use in your OS. The bindings you're configuring in remap are generic keycodes that are sent to the OS, then the OS will convert them into the appropriate character for your keyboard layout. So if you are using a layout that has one of the primary keys being [ ] for example, then you can easily bind that wherever you want, but if it is normally accessed using shift then it's a bit more complicated

#

theoretically you could use DKS to input both the base character and shift at the same time to effectively have a single key that inputs that character

#

regarding FN layer 2 not staying deleted, it'd be helpful if you were able to record a quick screen grab showing you delete the layer (and what your other layers look like), saving and restarting wootility and seeing it come back. I tried to replicate it on my Wootility but it worked fine for me

Huh, something very strange is going on there. It shows the Fn 1 binding being used for the layer switch key for Fn 2

#

Could you share the profile with me after you're replugged (so with the Fn Layer 2 and the weird fn bindings)?

Sorry for the delay, I'm going to look into this today. I imported your profile, the Fn layer 2 is behaving so weird

No problem.. right now it is only a visual bug, the previously set key bind works, although the FN layer is displayed in the web Wootility, which was definitely not the case before. Not sure why though..

Hmmm, weird, I tried to replicate your issue but I haven't been able to

#

Do you just Delete Fn Layer 2, save and reconnect and it re-appears?

Hmmm, I've tried various different variants but I haven't been able to replicate the issue you're experiencing in any form

#

Could you give me exact details of every step you do? Would maybe be helpful to have a video recording of it all as well with the console open (Right click the page, press inspect and click on the Console tab, you'll also need to click on the 'Default Levels' drop-down and enable 'Verbose')

I also tried it with the app and some other browser, but I got the same problem there too.

I'm a little stuck on trying to resolve this, I need to take a much deeper dive to be able to try and get to the bottom of it. I haven't forgotten about it and I'm going to try and find time for it soon

Alright, thanks!

Is this issue still open @viscid cedar?

@loud rose Any updates?

Sadly not, I've been super busy with other projects, so had no time to work on Wootility the past weeks
