Hello I just wanted to tell you that I once again (5 times) unscrew the board of the 60he v2 (you know for the gravatar switches that do not go at 3.5) and I replaced the friction fit and the foam it seems way better now. I do not know if it was due to this, I still have some key at 3.4 but nothing extreme like yesterday. This thing seem quite delicate to put back

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knew a definite answer to the following:
Basically I have a ducky one2 Mecha Mini I bought probably 7ish years ago (no lower timebound because I fear the brain rot).
I was wondering if it is possible to buy and drop the Wooting 60HE v2 module into this case without doing any modifications (I.e. will the USB slot and the posts and holes etc. line up) I am somewhat adept when it comes to electronics projects but I don't want to buy something I will have to hack apart to work.

iirc yes, although friction fit unsure but I recall some people doing tray mount on it with the old 60he days

tray mount has screws connecting pcb to the case still, friction fit you get a more isolate pcb for better sound typically

I guess tray mounting means the vibration has a physical path with lower or no dampening / isolation into the case and friction fit there is more onus on the insulation to seat and take the vibration?

FR4 is a deeper/more neutral sound, CF is brighter and more clacky, you'll 100% notice the feel differential since CF is about as stiff as you can get it

@gritty sleet Should give you an idea of what CF vs FR4 is like. Take it with a grain a salt that no build will sound similiar to mine but again since both recording setups are the same with one change (plate materials) it should give you an idea of what its like

For all of my HE builds so far, im pretty happy with Alu. The resonance is unique on its own for a bright sound profile.

CF is good too but sometime i feel like they can be a bit flat on HE

good luck with that
thock is pretty difficult to achieve simply because of the switch molds sizing in HE and how it provides as a whole. But same basics can be done with MX which is that you can manipulate sound with foam. So my suggestion is that if you want to achieve a deeper sound overall in HE, just dont get any switches that are too sharp or clacky, and understand how foam works in a board.

keep in mind UFO are also stiffer/tighter than other switches too, so if you want light press switches then ufo are not the go

fakes aren't really a thing to be worried about yet

generally fakes only happen in insanely popular switches and generally in molds that have existed for a long time. There's no money to be made in making fakes for a fairly new switch with such a complicated new mold

for example the old gateron jades are one of the only HE i know that did have some fakes pop up only in the chinese market

start up cost to make a fake UFO would be absurd to try recoup that money back

Yeah, it sounds like you're making contact on one side of the spacebar before the other. All you need to do is find a flat surface and make sure the stab wire is level. Relubing the stabs doesn't hurt either

Yea also to note i tried a different spacebar key cap on the spacebar and one of the stabs side isn't locking into the key cap. It only fits specifically to the left and middle stems

And i could've sworn it was very level on my phone before I put it in. Could it have bent as i locked them in the stabs?
