it didn’t seem like there was anything that would be affected by a PCB being in it or not.

it’s metal all around in which the module sits so no interaction between that and the mechanism

the physical orientation of the case does seem to affect the mechanism though.

Its the included switch/cap puller, which is great when you dont have any other tools, but my god is it ass to use for more than 3-4 pulls

Get an aftermarket switch puller like the one from ws, and realize its not bad at all to pull em

I honestly don't want to dissasemble, I just want to use my keyboard, the space bar is so loud, like if there was some metallic part loose inside of it it's very annoying. I wish the whole keyboard sounded the same, but the rest of the keys are super mute and the space bar so loud 😅 I don't want to spend too much time modding.

I see most of those lubes are hard to find here or you need to pay more in shipping than in the lube, so I want like the easiest solution or just maybe to know if it's better to send it back. Not really expecting a 30+ euro expense for a 2 day old keyboard 😅

just to experiment with and see if you prefer the more dampened sound with it

I had some issues with the slider on my OwLab too.

Initially the resistance was very very low and the slider wasn't snappy in any way resulting that it moved when the case was turned around. In addition it got easily stuck and stopped moving.

After disassembling it I noticed that the arrow pieces which should push inwards into the groves of the small middle area of the big acrylic part were to lose as the silicon buffer behind them were to small. I was able to fix that by flipping them around so that the rounded side is inwards while the straight side is outwards. This increased the effected area of the buffer and its springiness. After that I was able to properly push the slider into its two positions.

I noticed that the big acrylic part can cant as it has some play to the side. I was able to fix that by adding three layers of clear tape around a section of the straight part of both side. Due to this it got slightly larger and successfully helped me to reduce that it can cat. Sadly this added so much friction that the sliding mechanism was very hard to push. I used some dry lubricant spray for the acrylic part and upside of the bottom case part which helped a bit but the slider is still hard to push. At least it's better now and I can actually use it.

Lubing the four screws which combine the two case parts helped to reduce the scratch sound.

We've recently launched a new adjustable input granularity test that includes some information on the accuracy and consistency of actuation and reset points that you may find interesting. I'll also note that that our latency testing involves a high number of samples to give you a good idea of total consistency. For Single-Key latency, it's about 200 samples.

In the case of our Multi-Key Latency and Chord Split tests, multiple keys maintained while new inputs are registered. We expect these tests are harder for brands to optimize for and can do a good job of demonstrating the difference between a board that only performs well under single-key test conditions compared to one one that performs well in more realistic gaming scenarios.

We did consider it at one point. If I'm not mistaken, I think we had some concerns about non-standard layouts where any potential jig may perform better or worse if it didn't quite fit as expected. We have recently introduced a histogram that basically evaluates how well a tester is able to perform the test, which can flag to us if there's any issues and we can re-run the test, even with different testers, until we're satisfied we're getting high quality, reproducible results.

For example, testing on a curved ergo board or something with key wells or an ortho layout could present some compatibility issues with any testing bar or block.

Luckily there aren't many (maybe 1) ergo/split HE boards out there and no one who uses them should call themselves a serious gamer 😁

Although I say that as a 50yo "gamer" who currently has a sore thumb and tight wrist.

Nah, it's a good point. It's definitely a situation where we've made accommodations to adapt to a relatively small number of edge cases. We try as much as possible to ensure our entire test bench is applicable to all keyboards we test. It's done with the sake of comparability, but I definitely recognize that it can occasionally be a limitation.

Take off a keycap that has a full circle in the letter, such as O, P, B, D. Flip it upside down and look on the inside of the keycap to see if there are two small black dots. These act as the "bridge" in a mold to enable the "double" part of the double shot PBT keycaps to flow and connect while allowing shinethrough

With ISO keyboards, they by default don't have keycaps preinstalled so that you can select your language during checkout. You would have had the option of either ABS or PBT
