maybe he got enough money
if mansen tries to help someone you dont need to make a comment about that doesnt contribute to solve the problem
surely
yeah he was to late thats true but your comment is not that nice yk
sry arden for this conv
anyways if i were to order a replacement pcb could that be at anytime or does it need to be in a specific time frame?
No timeframe.
wonderful, and i do need to send the current one i have back also im guessing?
Shoot us an email at social@wooting. and we'll take it from there.
sure can, anything specific i should say in the mail? ”hey, i just got the module today, i messed up installing the switch on the enter key which broke the LED”
something like that?
Yerp
gotcha
wait just that i can understand when i accidentally break smth on my board i can send it back?
cuz i want to mod it even more
mail is sent Mansen
i dont think so
i just did the tape mod and it sounds amazing
ah and the orings on the standoffs
same
I bought new switches, 30g, the Gateron KS20, but I'm afraid of making more. I only made keycap tape and switches
yeah i really love the keyboard so far
just my own fault really for messing up the LED
also Mansen i said in the ticket that i was sent by you to write a ticket incase it was you that was gonna answer it
I'm so happy my tofu 60 redux and my raptor he and my plate cf come soon
How’s gpl 205g0 from divinikey? Should I settle with that as it’s cheaper or should I just get Krytox
Anyone tried the Gateron Magnetic Jade Linear Switch?
Any thoughts on them?
More than 700 sold, a lot of people use them. Similar to L45 in weight, better sounding switches than Lekkers
Less travel at 3.5 vs 4.00 mm
I did not catch the part with less travel distance 😮
Wonder if that will be a problem for DKS mapped keys? 🤔
Thinking if having action 2 when key is going back up again
If I remember correctly DKS works until 3.6 mm? Maybe someone who has Jades can comment about those and that function
I'm waiting for them to arrive in early march to test them
I don't use DKS for now, so idk
Just put in an order through MaxGaming, so no idea when they will arrive. Guess I will find out
Maybe Wooting can change how DKS works if not let us change the max depth the key can be pressed 🤔
Made this for those asking if they should get brass weight for tofu60 redux (yes is the answer)
don't worry my tofu 60 redux come soon with brass and CF plate and raptor he
is that all? just the sound?
are most mods u can do on a keyboard about sound?
What do you want in a HE switch?
I mean all of them are linear
The feeling would be the same, and for the actuation force/weight to press it depends on the spring
Jades are around 50g, meanwhile L45 and L60 are 45/60g
so its an mod that wont upgrade anything to functionality right?
its a press felling and sound based mod
right
If you are talking about performance and such, nothing changes
ah thx
Useless

Wow ok thank you I’m about to order brass weight off Ali express rn. Ty ty
Unironically it ends up going the other way
I've used full brass and full steel cases
Save some money and buy these https://www.amazon.com/CKAuto-Adhesive-Weights-EasyPeel-Motorcycles/dp/B085LCFFZS/ref=sr_1_4
itll look like this but weigh more and be 1/4 of the price
always wondered how this t urned out
thought about it but never owned a tofu v1
I have some tire weights in my drawer right now actually lmao
A frog themed deskpad but no frog mini case with Wooting?
How do they sound??
That’s all I care about really lol
To be fair Ive never purchased a Redux so not sure how many you need but 48 would still be plenty
wonder if the cavitiy is the same depth too
I dont have a way to compare
Appears to be but the weights would still be below the standoffs even if they werent the same depth.
Sound test comparison brass vs tire weight? 😅
Ima be that guy and say it sounds the same and your finger is hitting it differently

banned
ill think about it
If anything you can buy the weights on amazon for $6 and then return if you dont like
The brass looks better if you like to take your PCB out and type on it while staring at your case
Oh phew thought I was the only one
Or if you have see through pcb and see through keycaps and see through switches and see through plate

Dunno if you saw but I’m getting custom plates made for my wooting
CF, Alu, Black POM, and Black FR4
I thought about brass too
I have black pom too
Didn’t pull the trigger on it
Well stop thinking
Lmao
Well if I get brass I’ll have 7 diff plate material compatible with my wooting
And then only other material I can think of is IMA which is Impacted Acrylic
Right yeah
You using sendcutsend?
Nah SMKeyboards
I recommend hypekeyboards
I saw them too
My fave personally
Saw a couple good reviews of the plates from SM so said fk it
Tbyere also good
Indeed
Just don’t waste money on brass trust
Not worth the insane cost and you will guarantee dislike it
I got brass for my acrylic. Didn't really notice a difference besides weight lol. I have case foam so it probably mutes some of the effects
Got it, thanks
Lemme double check how much it was
Oh they also have Copper and Clear PETG but I don’t care for either of those lol
Brass plate is $55
That's so expensive
thats almost as much as the keyboard cost
Technically it is
I wish I had disposable income
In terms of standalone module
Oh you're talking about plates lol nvm
Yeah the alu plate was most expensive
Rest were like $20-30
Similar price to the PC Plate
Alu has shot up in price so much it’s dumb
Fr
Also Idk how it's possible but the tofu 60 with weight is loss hollow than fjell
Fk bro
Thockdaddy sidetracked me.
Gotta order the brass!
Ordered
Thanks again. I didn’t realize I was missing out.
Ask Woot for the LED part number and see if you can order the LED from somewhere. Then solder it yourself or bring it to a repairshop. The LED might set you back $5-$10 and the repair cost very little, maybe even free of charge.
Can swap it in when I switch to module. 🫡
I bought them, will be here tmr morning will let you know
Most repair shops charge more in time than a replacement PCB costs. Already shared the LED link
No problems whatsoever with the latest version of Wootility.
Depends, for something like this it takes a minute at most. Some shops would charge for it but I doubt it’d be much.
Brass weights always the best
should clarify internal brass weights or ones that are external/internal as well
not as good as a result when it's external only
which surprised me that kbdfans even put it internal as their track record with weight is always external
thanks for your input, i’ve decided to wait for support to answer me and if they can help me out in any way
They might be able to help, they’re sweet af. 😂
Maybe too nice even.
i know even in this discord they are very kind and helpful but i hope they can help me out, such a dumb mistake on my end really. crossing my fingers until support answers
All "we" at Wooting can offer is a replacement PCB, which is roughly 90€ with economy shipping to most parts of the world.
But whoever spots your email first, will explain everything.
If it’s what Mansen says then try to order the LED separately and shoot ur local repairshop an email or a family member even.
guess thats all i can do
i was wondering if it is possible perhaps with a programmable mouse to bind my fn layers to my mouse somehow anyone got some information about this? :D
i typed what mansen typed in web but cant find it
Thanks for the suggestion. Just ordered a POM plate from them for the Sirius60HE build I upgraded last night
You might need to get a repair shop to do that for you. It can be tricky to just order such components loose, outside of specialist shops, or direct from a supplier in bulk.

Loved all my plates from him and Tom is great
i see, ah im so pissed
ill just leave the rgb off
I cant get plastics from sendcutsend so Im interested to see how it goes. Ill keep you posted.

Not at all.
I turn all my LED's off anyway, youre just a step ahead now
Mansen is wrong, everyone knows RGB makes you better
It depends on the RGB color though. I think Mansen has a chart somewhere
My computer has a racing stripe for extra clock speed
What was it?
i usually never run leds aswell but it looked great on the wooting
SMD- Full Color Top View LEDs
67-23-RSHGRBYC-M050505-ET1-CS
this
This you?
Holyyyy
Probably not, not enough RGB
This is actually really good haha
i emailed a local repair shop the LED’s and what mansen said need to be done, hopefully they can hook me up
waiting game
If they have to order the part for you then they might upcharge u a bit :/
yeah
fuck man
such an idiotic thing to do
my desk very boring in comparison
these days
black keyboard, black mouse, black pc with solid side panel,a nd right now a red mouse pad to spice things up
work desk i have my colorful keycaps and deskmats tho
Saturn pad?
yeah lgg satur npro atm
was using freefall recently before which is a teal
All good bro. I don’t think the broken LED can cause further damage so you should be able to use it just fine.
this is where you start your no rgb life
join us
will do
i mean yeah, thats the good thing luckily it was only the LED and nothing else
if you got a nice set of WOB keycaps this would be perfect
wait i might’ve found it
i should get these no?
if you want
they're a bit pricy but a lot of people recommend PBTfans WOB https://divinikey.com/products/pbtfan-wob-keycap-set-doubleshot-pbt?variant=40010499555393
PBTfans WOB Keycap Set showcases white legends on a black base keycap set with additional white accents. Coming in a doubleshot PBT material for more durability. PBTfans WOB Keycap Set Features: Cherry Profile Manufactured by PBTfans™ Doubleshot PBT Material MX Compatible Available in: Base Kit Simple Base Kit (Non-tex
cant find in iso
oh they are iso
hmm the ones i sent costs 45
and this one u sent 85
yea but the ones I sent are high quality, random keycap sets from amazon can be iffy sometimes
I mean they're pretty highly rated so if you wanted to get those you'd probably be fine
yeah i think ill order those instead
since they have good rating
can i return the wooting ones or no?
you would have to email wooting
I liked the blacked-out look of the wooting keycaps on there but if youre embracing the no RGB gang, then some thick PBT keycaps would be nice.
probs what im gonna do is return the keycaps from wooting and get me a pair of these from amazon its the cheapest solution i can do
so i can see the actual keys in the dark
yeah i did
Yo anyone knows any cool light blue/baby blue keycaps that fit wooting ?
For now i found the mizu keycaps from keycaps industries
I might get these or another cool keycap set with baby blue tofu60 or cherry taro with purple tofu60
escape keyboard pom ramune
WS Purquoise
If you don’t care about pricing or ABS, check out GMK Iceberg
Fr4 wooting60 plate good or not ?
should i get the jades or ks-20us? which are deeper and thockier? and do i have to lube them?
I prefer Jades but KS20u is deeper
But KS20u sound similar to Lekkers to me so I don’t like them as much
Checking out the new Corsair K65 PLUS WIRELESS. Its a 75% that hits allllllmost every note and it comes in at a VERY competitive price point.

Corsair finally did something
👏
nooo
Oh then nvm
mb
Yeah I'll check it out, usually their boards are chonky
Now I gotta check it out
i mean
their k65 was like 110
so i dont think its that bad tbh
ye
wow
their k65 PRO is 130
so honestly
i can kinda see why they listed the plus as 160
imo the pro is shit
LMAO
The fact the knob is plastic says enough for me
looks decent but it was alright
but as of 2024? na im gud
REAL LMAO
GMK67 do better ong tbh
They should throw every pallet they have of that board in the trash and make something else
HONESTLY
like again i can see why they price it like that but hell im not supporting
I'll give em props on the warranty
Corsair falling behind on keyboards (been doing that actually)
Said you can open up and customize the board without voiding warranty
that's nice atleast
indeed
Yeah
razer 👀
labor :0
$45 for 35
I always just ordered switches off aliexpress
Basically paying $30-40 for them to hand lube your switches for you
Hand Lubed or Factory?
factory
Oh ok
used glube
you're not catching me pay a dollar a switch 😭
oh hell
about 90 dollars
I would just buy myself a nice keyboard kit

indeed 👀
For me
I'd rather lube them myself
Cause idk the quality of their hand lubing lol
How should i mount my wooting on the salvation?
your choice
what are some good way to mount it
I'm confused by your question
is oring mount good in salvation or just mount it with the spring leaf
Just mount with the leaf springs
O-Ring mounting in the Salvation pretty much defeats its entire purpose (I've done it on mine)
does the bounciness affect the performance at all?
Of the switches? No
The distance between the switch and the PCB isn't changing from the bounce, the entire PCB moves together
perfect, ill try that
Holy they look incredible but yeah pricing is completely killing it
238 euros on kdbfans and its not even buyable
Oh wow they look like actual jelly
Theyre really cool
Need to find an eu reseller tho
@stray tiger have u ever replaced foam with cardboard as a dampener ?
Yes i thought of this, and i intend to do it on my build LOOL
Next build*
Negative. That's even a bit a ghetto for my liking
I mean pulling out the solid snake cld make the sound nicer
Thinking aboutbit
Ig ima have to try
can u tape mod with masking tape
@harsh dove I mean its true we did talk about this, BUT THEN AGAIN either way i will see what i will do and if it actually works and it sounds better ig i will sound the alarm to let you guys know with video
ig
Are wooting keycaps good enough?
Theyre good
u can see the rgb through the letters unlike some keycaps
Yeah that’s the thing I like the shine through but not enough to keep it over better keycaps
I also like my clacky sound profile so idk if I should switch to GMK ABS plastic
Fr4 plate wooting60 good or not?
Define “good”
PC switch plate vs fr4 plate
for what sound profile?
I mean thocky or clacky
Thocky
then the PC plate would be better
NEVER BUY FROM TAOBAO
They scam people, bro who is crazy af to sell a wooting 60HE for
500 USD
to 1k USD
Led abuser role when?
It aint 500$
What the difference between donut dipping and bag lubing springs?
And taobao is fine wym
Like is one more effective or pretty much same results?
Wooting 60HE resells for 1600 rmb~ and that's quite good lmao for a reseller
Depends on the seller
I checked ali express they got 1k USD
Sales
LOL
That's like blaming an e-commerce website like ebay for people selling for 1000$
🗿
Because they are ripping ppl off
Just dont buy from that seller? Whats the hard part
But then again its not blaming an ecommerce website, its more the sellers themselves
.
Bought from taobao in the past and it was fine
I was joking
So long as u made a informed descision and wanna buy yea
Or whatever
Yeah used superbuy agents in the past, and it was even cheaper than buying directly from ali
Ig
Is it just me or analog switches on my 2HE feels a bit inconsistent? I feel like some of the keys require less pressure/force to press.
can someone explain to me how i can tell if a specific stabiliser is compatible with the wooting? New to modding and big noob
And can anyone recommend what stabilisers to get?
Ultimately depends on what exactly you own.
Wdym by that
What product are you buying stabilizers for exactly.
Wooting 60 he sorry
60HE?
60HE+?
60HE Module?
Stock wooting 60 he keyboard
So you're limited to plate mounted stabs. You're probably not going to find any noticeably better than the ones it came with.
wait whats the 60 he +
This wouldnt change if i were to change to a PC plate right?
Doesn’t change. There’s not much point changing the stabs there anyway - at most what I’d do if you want to mod the stabs is check to see if they’re lubed well (and if not add more lube)
U reckon its worth doing holee mod and have you done it?
No. Modding stabs should only be done IF your stab is making weird noises
think of it like having a perfectly good sharp pencil. Do you want to snap the tip off then resharpen it if the pencil is already sharp?
modding perfectly fine stabs for no reason is probably the number 1 modding mistake for beginners - you only do stab mods/tweaks if/when they actually have issues
hi. um anyone know if (clip in) tx ap stabilizers will work on 60he
no if you're using 60he, yes (kinda) if you're using 60he+, it does potentially have some tight fitting issues with the holes according to some early reports from folks though
some folks had it fit fine, some had theirs not fit quite right and needed to sand the holes bigger a tad
that's exactly what I done, and it made the sounds much better
it was also very easy to do with the screwed on stabs on module
pretty much all the stabs were quite under lubed
oh ok i see tysm
Wth is the 60he +
Makes sense
Sending this here in this channel:
U know that mod people do where they put that material, kinda looks like aluminium foil underneath the spacebar to make it sound better
What if i did that but for every keycap would that be good
why doesnt anyone else do it
I mean personal preference but for the people who want as much thocc as possible surely they do it for every keycap?
Or maybe its because its hard to keep track of exactly how much you put in every keycap so it wont sound even
2nd question:
Guys how can i know if a specific type gummy o ring is compatible with my stock wooting 60he (Not + version). Because in a few videos the gummy o rings they link are to a US site, and im all the way on the other side of the world it says shipping will cost like 50 dollars
3rd question:
I already key cap swapped and case swapped, tape modded and i dont know if there was a difference, and the other worth it mods ive heard are changing the switches to those Jades. I heard theyre compatible, but will they affect performance?
4th question:
Also i dont know what the fk switch filming is would you say its worth it
They burgermount,Tape Mod, Band aid mod, Re lube everything (This is dependent on individual)
Everything is in #🪛│modding_faq Regarding your jades, But just be informed on what you intend to do as L45 and L60 switches are the same but just one is heavier on the actuation
Did anyone find the Jade springs a bit too "light"? I ended up swapping the springs for l60 ones and it felt so much better after
Probs cuz youre used too it
jade springs are 37ish grams from what i hear
That makes sense, the l60s are only a bit more right? I'm just surprised that the difference was noticeable to me
Seems like everyone is having a different experience. but for my module I put in TX stabs. And they fit tight but fine. About the same about of pressure as putting switches in place to get them seated around the plate and then they fit into place without issue
No, its still the same
Jades are long pistoned thingies while the Lekkers are normal switches
So in terms of usage
You will feel a difference cuz of the weight
(This is from what i am seeing)
I can b wrong and right at the same time so it is up to you
Ahhh gotcha
If u wanna learn more ig go to #🪛│modding_faq
I meant like u know how in the spacebar they fill stuff with it like tape or a noise deadner material, why do they only do it for they space bar and not all the other keys?
Its the largest key with the most hollow space and the only one with enough room to put a dampening material in without hitting a switch
This is starting actuation not total or end force , which is 50g
In other words, L45s are lighter
Gateron should really label that because a lot of people think that they’re super light switches when they aren’t really
Because they only have initial actuation labeled
Oh mb then
Keep forgetting
About that and i didnt know about gatreons didnt rlly
Label it proper
No worries
lol yeah idk why
Cause they labeled their other KS20 switches
And they have the exact same springs
Same force
Probs cuz the ks20s are ran by diff management ? For that specific switch project
Or idk
Cuz im looking at it this way from my angle
I mean they have it labeled on the physical box on the graph
But not on their web right ?
Right
Then this part idk ig they miss out or ig nobody rlly cared and just whacked
Alr thanks. Your faq was so helpful
they jsut like doing it like cherry
using actuation as the measurement
for longest time cherry was like saying mx browns and reds were "45g"
since that is actuation
hello people
does the bottom out feel different on Jade vs open magnetic switches like the KS-20U?
open*(
my brain inst braining rn lol
Chat is quiet today. Everyone trying to log in to Last Epoch 🙂
@stray tiger Hey I could ask some questions if you're bored
Ask away and Ill answer what I can.
guys, how easily can I mod the wooting two he?
As easily as any other keyboard I suppose.
WHAT can be changed is a different matter.
Very easily for standard mods
because I was thinking about putting the pcb with the switches into another case with a different plate
tirade
do you own the jades?
I do
what about the ks-20u?
yes
does bottoming out feel different since one is closed?
The shorter travel distance of the Jades does feel a bit different.
whats the size of the the wooting 60 HE spacebar
and you prefer the longer distance?
6.25u
I wouldnt say that, I enjoy both
i see
thanks alot
which switch do you prefer
np
Hard to say, I havent used both on the same board yet but might do that in the next few days and will let you know
alright then.
do you think gateron will make a dual rail closed bottom HE switch?
or any information that it will happen lol
Got to drive these a tiny bit today
can that be considered a standard mod?
be sure not to speed in that,
There are no aftermarket cases for the 2HE
This is strictly a 60% keyboard thing.
I’m at work sadly
Logging in when I’m home
do you think I can find any other cases that fit?
Y'all think cherry taro keycaps are gonna work with dark purple 60 redux ?
100%
I feel like you're completely ignoring what I just said.
There are no - no - no - cases
Short of you designing and making one, you're out of luck.
I see
Oh wow that is a bad quality image my bad guys
Do you drive these for work?
Thanks for the help tho
Nice, ecoating purple works well but i much prefer dark purple over light purple
Slightly but not much
What about the pressure required do you find the springs have similar pressure to bottom out?
real gamers know that jades are goated
Unless rapid trigger is your goal in gaming
ive tried L60, L45 and Jades, i personally think the Jades feel very simmmilar to the L45's in term of spring weight
Well the Jades and KS20u share the exact same spring so yeah it feels the same
Amazing
And the wobble? Slim to none?
KS20u have less wobble than Jades but Jades are pretty good in that respect as well, less wobble than Raptors or Lekkers
You have me sold, thank you alot for the time saving for research
yeah no wobble is the l60 stem in raptor
that is true no wobble
but the jades are really good to the point it doesn't matter unless you have OCD about wobble
nah, KS20U are no wobble, with the dual rail, but if i follow what cam said the Jades are still better
they still have wobble as it's just plastic and tolerances
but it's p good
I use jades myself and have raptors, l60s, etc
idk, when cam was streaming him trying them he said he couldnt feel any wobble at all 🤷
yeah i was just saying wobble still exists even if it's mnior
Yeah I tried explaining that a switch will technically always have wobble because you have the tolerance balance between the stem being free flowing or having friction between the top housing
well, yeah. moving parts will always have some. but you know
The KS20u are about as close as you can get to no wobble before hitting that friction point
Im sure it could be finely tuned even more in terms of tolerances
Without hitting the friction point
the perfect switch, it must be somewhere out there 🔭
If you don’t care about friction then run the raptors with Lekker stem
That’s true no wobble
Are there anymore up and coming HE switches?
i think the Neo65 HE will come with Lavender HE switches, but from what ive heard those are just recoloured Jades
but idk if those will be available seperate, or only with the board, or maybe im just talking nonsense, since not much is known about that yet
ah alright,thanks.
new switches that "glow in the dark"
rgb is overrated
just bcs it will glow right after u turn ur pc off?
ye but it wont do shit without rgb either otherwise u need a desk lamp for your keyboard or that effect will not be useful
yeah it's called broken in mx blacks springs wapped and lubed
great, ill throw those in my 60HE 😆
guys I have a second question: is there any difference between the pcb of the 60he and the pcb of the two he?
besides the size ofc
no
Some differences, yes
one of them has aftermarket cases, the other one doesn't
@stray tiger is there a more firm plate then the one that comes with the module?
Similar to copper?
There's the steel plate?
Stiffer? The steel plate
Can probably find one for sale easily as most prefer the PC it seems
what kind of differences?
None I'm going to bother naming. They aren't cross compatible in any way, case or otherwise.
anyone have recommendations for good dark transparent keycaps?
When your room isn't dark
PBTFans Pyga
Okay I'll pick up ks switches and a steel plate
Going to lube and grease my stabs this weekend following the video tutorial
#🪛│modding_faq soz couldnt find it so just doing this
It's also pinned thx
preciate it
not very new
the glow is very noticable after you turn pc off
Wow thats stupid
practical use? pretty much none
tbf, thats any coloured switches
BUT its ink
what is the difference between 6.25U and 6.25 HE in space bar sizes is there even a difference?
euhm, 6.25u is just the size of the spacebar, HE or not doesnt have any effect on how the spacebar is, so this is pretty strange
etsy things i guess
yeah, probably
what kind of spacebar are you buying that's costing you 35-40 euros
artisan?
i was just using it for example they hjave like 5 diffrent dropshipping options on there and this one is the most expensive one
wait
its sa/cherry
i dont know what "he" is i would ignore that
well just keep in mind on what keycap profile you're going for
yea well i have an oem one so i guess i will pick cherry?
im not really sure tbh
well what's the profile of your keycaps?
do you know the differences?
i'd suggest keeping it the same as your keycaps tbh
Oem isnt listed on most of the others that arent priced that high
well i looked at a graf on reddit
eh
im not sure its lifted up a little i would say
so either its gonna be an Oem or a Cherry one but upside down maybe
im curious to hear what your current wooting setup is? like all the mods?
Check out my packing foam mod lol. I’m waiting on my tofu redux to get here but I really wanted to try the wooting module so I used the foam that it came with. Lowkey sounds pretty decent too
I currently have 3-4 wooting boards and they are all different. Which is why its hards for me to say specifically that I prefer one thing over the over
damn do u have multiple 60 he's?
yes
i wanna try both the jades and raptors first but raptors gotta wait im testing out jades first
i was just about to ask is there any specs a cable must have for the wooting? as many had issues with diffrent brand cables?
just needs to be good quality i think, hard to say, just to be safe n sound i purchased from wooting instead
read somewhere that the razer coiled cable is good i think
just a few hrs before
can confirm that the magnetic jades are awesome, ill post a sound test here in my literal foam build lol. Sound great stock
yes pls post
hmm not sure, it works perfectly though
@stray tiger is stem swapping for the jades with the stock wooting switches a thing? heard it was for the raptors
That would defeat the prupose of the jades
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lp_kJNGPyI&ab_channel=MineMouseReviews Idk guys i feel like this is my favourite so far , i havent heard any this good before
Got a Wooting, stock sound and feel kinda bad, so modded the heck out of it, and made a sound/typing test. Even though some of the mods are actually p scuffed, I'm pretty satisfied with it. Hopefully Wooting makes some lekker switches with less stem wobble though, because I'm not a fan of the rattley sound.
Full Mod List:
Aluminum Plate (Don't...
but i havent watched too many vids at the same time
what is it
The Jades have the closed stem and long pole switch. if you dont want that then just get another switch
ye no im curious on what it do what is expected to be improved/different
Its a different sound and typing feeling. Whether thats better or worse is a personal preference.
Hm i totally just stumbled into keyboard modding and there is damn alot to do or stuff you can do if u want to
Here are stock jades on a foam case lol, I’ll post another when my redux gets here
Tape mod sounded to me so stupid first hand ngl
fr dude, there should really be a post that just lists all the usual possible mods you can do to a keyboard cos idk where to start to be honest
The only thing free Ive ever received was an UwU but I also bought an UwU. Anything else I have wooting was paid for by me or for my time working on support requests/customer service not related to discord.
Alr
u say ur support work got paid with wooting products
Ngl typing without the case feles nice lol i remember doing it while waiting for case aswell
Not paid, it was volunteer work and I had s store credit I used
as the Thockfather whats ur opinion on people on youtube claiming the wooting can not sound good
yeah it actually gives the board some flex which i hear it wont have any at all
do u have any sound tests that u have done for the wooting 60 he, thockfather?
My opinion is that there are tons of people in here who would disagree. Is it much harder than a typical board thats designed from the ground up to sound good and not a performance board? Then yes, thats true.
The difference is you cant make a typical board into a performance board, regardless of how much work you put into it
fair point i will try to modify my 60HE+ to the point where i like it and soundwise anything will be better than my rattle Vulcan TKL
lol the Wooting is limited in that it uses HE switches
So the gripe is with HE not just the Wooting
And “sounding good” is highly subjective
i think this board sounds great honestly, i have a tiger 80 and a mode sonnet, all have different sound signatures but right now im diggine the sound of the jades
I love the Mode Sonnet, one of my fav boards, but while it sounds and feels great it would never replace a performance gaming board.
i have a board i built myself and of course it sounds better than my 60he, but my 60he doesnt sound bad in the slightest
im considering buying the jades with the 80HE
100% agree, the performance of these he boards is insance comparatively when it comes to gaming
Glad to hear did u modify ur 60HE somehow?
a lot but imo it was alright stock
HE boards are the direction the community is headed towards. Its only a matter of time and 2024 is a key year
i would go for it, ive heard sound tests for other magnetic switches and they all sounded bad to me except for these. I'm sure there will be a lot more players in the game soon though, by the time the 80he rolls out im guessing a few more switches will be out as well
sound feeling is just personal preference
1 person might love lekkers and hate jades and the other the other way around
yeah obv this is just my opinion
yup
Question: Would lighter springs produce a higher pitched sound and would heavier springs produce a lower pitched sound?
depends on housing material i think
No
ye if i would've known there was an other option other than lekker switches i wouldve bought the jades but that that point i wasnt well informed
aw cuz I was wondering if springs would change sound in the way you press it or something
Yeah springs don’t change sound
it might make them more punchy but thats about it
ye just wondering if the force you put into your switch would change sound
You can make your switch sound different by hitting it harder lol but the spring is simply changing force required, not sound
yeah i'm not talking about the spring itself but the force it takes
maybe different bottom out due to different amount of force
Well those two things go together so
but isnt the snap back sound also gonna be changed with different springs with different forces?

The force isn’t being applied by the spring tho
You as the user is applying the force
can anyone tell by this picture which one came with the alumaze case
but if u release ur finger the force of the spring still pushes the key back up and it makes a sound or no?
hmm
i think a stronger spring will just enhance the sound of the snap back but i dont think it will change the sound
so just louder but no change
because my l45s and l60s sound completely different
i think so
Yes but that’s going to come down to keycap material at that point
no just put them both in
And switch housing materials
did u do that?😂
yeah if you want a different sound then changing the housing material is the way to go
Yeah
i mean there was some dude bulding in that place holder if ur case is not there yet so i dont thin k there should be a Problem with it
but dont take my word on that im sill waiting for my module
springs dont affect sound
except for undesirable sound
so case or material of keycaps
nah im talking about the force that the springs basically "guide" you to use
not sure how to explain it
Yeah what gives the thock? PC, POM or nylon???
i dont like pc tops
tape mod
that top out is terrible
Yeah most don’t like HE because of the upstroke sound
my frankens on my other board is P3 stem, milky top, ink bottom
Which is mainly because of the PC Top housing they use on almost all HE switches
Masking white Tape because no Residue right?
idk i used masking tape
100g springs but cut to 1/2-2/3 length with a nail clipper will actually be god spring for osu
seen a dude on yt use elekto tape
well i would maybe try that
but then he tried ducttape
i think painters tape is best, also have to think about residue and tapes that could effect the circuitry
well ig it wouldn't really change sound that much 😔
just a little idea I was thinking about during school
Painters tape overrated
yes
Moleskin better
whats moleskin?
i get my keycap puller tomorrow i cant take the keycaps out buy have and i dont want to damage them cuz they are going to be returned to wooting
If I told you
I use 1 layer of masking with 1 layer of moleskin and it sounded better than my 5 layers of masking tape (subjective)
I’d have to kill you
o.o
0.0
lol
Look up Dr scholls moleskin
whats that sound like? it seems like it would dampen sound
deep
my wooting even sounds good naked with it
(no case)
altho I tried it on a deskmat
might have to check it out when i get bored of no tape
I was challenged by @keebmat to do a sound comparison between my beloved moleskin tape mod and the keebtape, a proprietary tape mod that keebmat's developed. I ended up doing a sound test with no tape, with painters tape, with moleskin, and with the keebtape.
Quick synopsis:
- No tape: hollow don't recommend, unless you're a purist. (I'm not...
Covers painters tape, moleskin, and keebtape
Which I’ve also tried and is nice as well
Keebtape gives a poppier sound
do you ever heard about the wooting havin a problem with heat due to wrong use of foam or tape?
Never heard of any problems
great thx
I’d just recommend not using something like duct tape
Since it has a really strong adhesive and leaves a residue
neither, but again i dont use rgb and its only 20-23c in my room
naaah, what could go wrong
lol ripping components off the back of the PCB
no biggy if you know how to solder lol
But rather not have too in the first place
ye using duct tape is a different kind of bravery
Definitely is
How many layers of moleskin do folks usually do?
one cuz its thicc
Nice
I'm using 3 layers of painter's tape atm and I'm curious about giving it a shot now
Also seems legitimately handy to have with some of my shoes xD
I will try It too
This friday my wooting will arive I will try tape mod and try diffrent foams and a Set of PBT caps and see how it sounds and feels and most important I will see how it performs ingame
Try it stock, then try it lubed if you want a change. Then you can focus on other mods
L take, just spend hundreds of dollars on mods right away.
Okay! I will
what are the advantages of a new case?
Well its already to late for that already bought he he+ and an alu case
Maybe no advantage on all, but maybe looks or sound for some people.
i mean sound like what does it do to sound
and is there any way to get one relatively cheap or are they all like $100+?
Depends on the case material
now that i lubed my keyboard what are the reccomended mods to do?
Tofu60 Redux seems to be an often use cheaper version
Tapemod is cheap and easy
what are the chances of that messing up my PCB??
Less than 1%
Minimal if you aren't using some crazy ass tape
what tape is recocmended?
Masking
is that like painters tape
Most people use masking, painter's, or electrical tape
if u use other kind of tapes its recommended to do a first layer of masking tape aswell
is painters tape jkuist masking tape
Yes, but with lower adhesion
does that matter or nah
Less residue to clean up if you choose to remove it
its not gonna be more or less likely to mess up PCB tho?
tbh moleskin tape doesn't really leave residue but it's just really annoying to take off
Nah, it shouldn't mess up the PCB
atleast its easier to take off then foreskin
huh
Be careful when removing I guess, but unless it's something like duct tape it should be fine
wat
why woulkd i remove it?
like if i odnt like it?
Yup yup
Tape mod and stuff like that is all just sound preference
what else should i try
Mmm friction mounting with an o-ring is cheap as well and easy to do.
what is that?
you put a rubber o ring around the plate and PCB, and because there is no room to move around it stays in the case
so you dont need screws or anything
It sorta helps with the sound
yeah just removes the contact points from the tray
but can only do so much of course
One thing that bugged me for my build a lot was the space bar. Ended up putting some white tack in there to make it sound less hollow 🤷♂️
was? i dont need to screw in pcb into case if i have oring?
well, yeah. you dont have to
i have alumaze and module
you could if you want i guess, but then you kinda defeat the point
i dont think u can use oring around pcb cuz of stabilizers
i was about to say that
i think you can, but only if you dont use the silicone/poron sandwich pad
It's incompatible with silicon pad and screw in stabs
What’s the question here?
can you o ring mount the module?
Yes
but not with silicone pad right?
Yes
i tought it was only nothing, but i was still mostly correct
If using screw in stabs, you need to do one of two things to make it work.
A. Replace backspace and spacebar stabs with clip in stabs and use an M-size Graveshift O Ring
B. If using screw in stabs, use an S-size Graveshift O Ring
I will warn that the S ring may not work with screw in stabs depending on your keyboard case. I don’t know which cases it doesn’t work with if it doesnt
i use poron
I’ve tested it on the Alumaze and Salvation tho and it was fine
Going to test on Tofu soon
soo, if you follow what cam said you should be good
so i can just get S size from graveshift and call it a day since i have alumaze and module?
and it just goes around the outlines on the pcb?
Yep
Basically want it between the PCB and the top plate
It will bulge out at the contact points where the stabs are and that’s where you’ll have to work them into the case as you’re inserting it
More specifically the spacebar
with my luck i will fuck it up haha but its this right?
Yeah and it’s typically recommended to go with 30A - 50A
I’ve tested 55 and 65 and it was fine just tougher
I prefer 40a tho
shipping 20$ xD
Oof
indeed
could get this from a swedish site
dunno if it would fit with screw ins tho
See if you can find its specs and compare it to the specs of the Graveshift
no specs on graveshift
Circular Cross-Section They are circular in shape, round in cross-section. Designed for use in a wide variety of sealing applications. Commonly provide a pressure and fluid seal between cylindrically shaped, overlapping mating surfaces and are commonly seen in engines, faucets, flanges, valves...
That's what I'm using if you want some kind of spec reference
The only thing I've noticed is that it is squishing the foam tight in places which is to be expected I guess
u have module+alumaze?
its the same thickness and size as the one i found on a swedish website
185mm and 3.5mm thick
rip
@harsh dove have you done oring in alumaze with no foam?
Was just testing stuff with my tofu and it basically has no ping with friction oring so wonder if same goes for alumaze
That’s how I have it built rn
No case foam
Sits lower in the case that way
And I don’t notice any ping
And since you can’t or shouldn’t do case foam or friction mount in the Salvation, moleskin tape fixes that issue
At least it did for me imo

I need to redo stabs on that build tho
They sluggish
Plus doesn’t help that the KS20u feel slightly overlubed
is that just be default? or did you hand lube them?
is tape mod worth it?! and if so can i do it without removing the switches from the pcb??
Worth it is debateable, and yes you can
okay, thank you:)
wish the tofu didn't have these as it's the only thing stopping my keycaps from being below the lip perfectly and not showing the tops of the switches
Nothing a dremel cant fix
yes and yes
yes to good factory lube?
yes to both
would u say its worth lubing, I lubed switches before just wondering if its different for the jades.
Worth it is personal preference, they are good from the factory
Small O-Ring seems to work fine with my tofu
silicon pad or the poron plate foam?
i want a clackier sound not really dampen sound
Remove foam if you want clack
so no plate foam?
Correct
nice nice
i wish
I like both foamy and clacky but lean more to foam c:
It's how it always starts
you have your first tgeneric keyboard or tray mount that sounds trash after you hear one youtube video and realize
then you go foam (or foam gasket mount these days), and then you get that one board or sound that brings you to clack
It is the way of keyboards
Also here is this. Tofu refux using friction mount with pom plate, hand lubed jades with top housing lubed, and just silicone dampener from my freebird underneath since I dont' use a desk mat so it helps with that. Sound test is on a desk mat tho
that SMACKS

okk these are nice creamy clacks
Nah it just SMACKS
I wonder how frog would sound with these jades lubed like this as all i have is sound before, but I'm too lazy to build it again
ehh not a fan of the looks tbh
looks like a cyberboard
very expensive board
by angry miao
not a big fan of it xd
their new Relic80 looks pretty clean tho
Me neither
this time they wanted to focus more on sound so the board doesn't look too crazy
(still really expensive lmao)
My matching block keycaps are here. Still no idea where I'll use them, but maybe on 80he to turn one row/area in a big screenshot button perhaps since I don't need all the right buttons
What rapid trigger settings are people running here? I’ve gotten quite a bit used to it at this point but I’ve gone down to the 0.15mm rapid trigger. I like how I can really spam keys quickly
I run it to the sensitive
So 0.15mm?
What games do you use it in?
yeah rapid trigger i use at lowest, although i turn it off on left shift for shift walking
Everything
Old reply, but this is the soul black colored salvation case correct?
Gotcha, I'm still messing around with my settings here and there
