GMK is ABS though, but they suffer from the same problem that all ABS have, the shine after a while if you heavily use your keyboard

the shine comes from the friction of your fingers with that type of plastic

basically its the wear of the plastic

Did you dremel out the PCB to actually allow the O ring to make contact with the side mounts on the case

or did you just leave the PCB as is?

All of us use friction mount so we leave the pcb as is.
But @lethal dove dremel their pcb for full gummy oring performance but had to sacrifice some led trace

No, I just put some rubber pads in the 4 corners that sit like. 05mm higher than the standoffs so that if the PCB slides down at all the corners will rest on the pads.

Hard to say. If it sounded better in the plastic case then there is likely a frequency that was always there before but might be amplified by the aluminum case. The easiest thing to try is to use some putty in the space bar or some sound dreading mat inside of it to see if you can eliminate that frequency a bit

Some people put putty inside all of their keycaps to increase the thock sound. It works really well but takes some time to ensure you get the putty right as to not interfere with the switch

Case swap, switch lubing, stabilizer tuning and PC plate is where I'd start first. You really don't need to stuff your keyboard like a Turkey, but that's up to; especially if you want a thockier sound
