whats that
Do I put these keycaps on now while I wait for my Alumaze or do I wait for eveyrthing to arrive before I start modding
This
10u is sick
Peak Space Bar
That Big Fat Enter is sick aswell
Lmao I didn’t even see that
10 is crazy 😭
how many things are balancing it
DCS have some nice sets but the keycaps are so thin, sounds like ass to be honest
Them Dell Keyboard sized legends are killin me tho lol
that enter key looks funky
I've yet to try 10u, wasn't my kb
it looks so funny
Yessir
got a chonky boi
THey should've kept the pen holder for the Class60, such a nice touch
Yeah I was looking at the class60, saw it a meetup and was really dope
Have too many boards as it is, and my Salvation is Peak 60% ngl
I can't imagine a keyboard that would be as comfortable to type on as the Class60, the bounce is real
Biggest draw for me is EC support, but the class80 R2 be getting it now aswell
Saweet
hi guys, just joined the server. Im super noob at keyboard modding.
Do you guys think its possible to transfer the pcb of the wooting full size into the corsair k70 housing? The layouts between the keyboards are slightly different, and seems like the corsair is more compact
Ty
Doubtful given that there's no standard size for full sized keyboards, the slightest variation would be enough to prevent compatibility
yeah really big chance the case is not compatible unless you wanna trim it to precision and even then big chance it won't work
You are better off modding the case it comes with
been using a corsair for literally 10+ years
the small size diff of keys + the wrist rest makes using any other keyboard feel so weird
:' )
I like the koi on the back of the Sumi Box
You pretty much have a Unikorn if you cut the fish out and stick it underneath the keyboard
my friend wants this keycap set lol
That would be the kohaku :D
Lol, Unikorn would be a Unicorn, what am I smoking
I like the Kohauka bottom a lot more
Looks like the good stuff, send some over

Both rly nice, tho if I had to choose I would take the korn, the full size weight is just so nice looking
But the red kohaku with the red koi fish is damn sexy
Seggsyy
My favorite bottom design though, Parallel Snake
Doesn't do it for me honestly, but I can appreciate the design work
That's the colour I wanted but it would have been like an extra 80€
Hit a soft spot there
I'm presuming that extra 80e is a different type of coating? Otherwise ouch
lmao true
It's still anodized, but making one off colours for anodizing is a lot of work for 1 part as I have understood. Understandable just still made me sad
Checked some local shops, so I could just order a blank case and they don't even offer custom colors xD they had black and clear. And only custom colors for big batches
too bad Kohaku doesn't make a 60%
A case for the Unikorn? I'd be madge if it didn't come with one. You reach a certain price point when there should some goodies thrown in
Be happy, would just experience loosing raffles for a case you rly want

Yeah I bet
I mean the keyboard case, I got a custom one ordered where I tried getting the Korn colour
Not an actual Korn sadly xD
I see, I see. Definitely a nice shade of green
If I’m going to use the o-rings that came with the plate and foam in the alumaze, I should use the 2 gold standoffs right
Welcome home
god why is this so hard
ima try to do 3 layer switch tape again
this time with more keys
also list of things I wanna try out :c
did u removed ur switch tape?
no
if so; why
I still have 2 layers
oh
but im going to try adding one more again
whats your thought on 3 vs 2
giving it one last chance
for mine it's eh
it sounds more solid but its way more high pitched for me
actually i find 3 layer being too tight for the stem
idk about tuan
it sounds good but the feeling when u press the key is not good
why?
did u do it right
yeah i dont think i did something wrong
i mean, i just feel a little bit of resistance with 3 layers
if u feel a bump then u did it wrong
maybe i should lube a little bit extra the stem if i go 3 layers?
well not strong enough to call it a bump
Wait with the alumaze case, there’s 6 screws and 6 standoffs. But the plate kit comes with only 10 o-rings?
but like a clicky switche
i didnt see any o rings on my plate kit xd
those look removable
Do I use the middle or the one by the space bar for the burger mount
Yeah
what
i got the pc plate from wooting aswell
wth
and i didnt see any of these
No it was with the plate
huh
It was in the packaging with something else
how is that possible
i didnt get that on my pc kit box
@quiet bay did u get that in your pc kit?
nope
yeah you did something wrong then
mines very smoooth
like stock smooth
no resistance or anything
Or actually maybe ur right, I think it actually came with the alumaze
mmmh
I can’t remember I kinda just dumped it all out on my desk
But either way I don’t get which standoff to use considering the ones wooting included is only enough for 5 standoffs
thats from the alumaze
you put those on the pcb where the standoffs go through
pc plate only comes with plate and 2 foam
Like on the top and bottom of the stand-off screw holes right
yeah
Okay that’s what I thought, but do I use the middle screw hole or the one for the space bar?
can u show in photos a little bit more where do u put ur switch tape mod EXACTLY @fluid ravine
i like how the spacebar sounds without the screw in myself
maybe im putting too short cuts
you could also buy one of the bak60 o rings and do a gummy mount
i need to see on each sides where it starts and where it stopps
Im mainly just confused on which 5 standoffs they intended for me to use
I’ll try not using the space bar one
wdym
its like the ones in the pictures
from the explaination
same thing
i saw it but
you just got to press down the tape making sure its flat on the surface
i get headaches just looking at that
even where the stem maakes contacts with the housing?
must be flat
or there will be tension
yeah it is
then it should be fine
maybe my medical tape is too thick for 3 layers
i still have the bump
very little bump
i will need to try with another tape or just use 2 layers then
ok
you can either let it breaak down
over time it should like smooth out
or you can start over and apply more pressure
its it very little
not too noticable then you can leave it alone
try putting lube on it
or that
yeah this worked for one switche, i used it alot maybe 200 actuation and now its smooth
seems like it need to break in
ty for help
i have a better idea, wash ur switches remove the tape and run them dry
when i applied the 3 layers back then
all the keys had a little bump
literally
all of them
but over time they break in
actually my keyboard sounds very muted
maybe because i dont have tape mode
too quiet
for me without tempestr
its too quiet
1 layer is perfect
Does using all 6 of the standoffs on the alumaze60 do anything?
Like make it more stiff or something
nah
already stiff anyways
idrk what it does but i dont think it does jackshit
Do you recommend using all of them?
more screws more work so prob not
dont got any recommendation that has to do with tray mount
Is it ok just to leave them there not filled 😅
i mean i do that with the spacebar one in the stock case and its fine
the stock case lacks the center standoff anyways
does anyone know if this is the switches that are preventing thock or have recommendations? i added some of the case foam from the stock case and did 3 layers of tape mod. also using the foam from the pcb kit instead of the silicone t_t all i want is thock
switch tape mod
that sounds like stock switches
before you do switch tape thing lube ur switches and stabs first
alumaze t_t
What’s in there?
that sounds really cheap
its literally just case foam and tape mod
And it sounds like that??? Wtf
lube the switches up, it'll make a huge difference
those sound exactly like my stock switches when i got the thing
even with the pc plate and in the stock case mine doesnt sound as hollow
🤷🏻♂️
ya i guess im ordering lube
get the kit from the site
its really good
i lubed 67 switches and 5 sets of stabs with it
do u have a vid of how urs sounds?
no but it sounds similar to the one sanders did, let me link you a video
Plenty of you want to customize the 60HE to your own liking. We understand that many might have questions how certain materials make the 60HE sound like, lubed and unlubed. So in this video we showcase all of that.
ABS case: Stock Wooting Tray-mount case (included with the 60HE)
Wood: https://kbdfans.com/collections/case/products/tofu60-walnut-...
it sounds a bit more hollow than that because i use the pc plate(i noticed this too I A and B'd them the steel plate in the original case makes the alphas way more hollow so to say but the stabs sound much better on polycarb)
I also dont use a deskpad under mine
i noticed in badseeds tech video the steel plate in both the tofu and tofu redux sounds way too harsh
drop it
this is my first time modding a keeb so like everything is so new to me
jesus that chair
i guess ill order the lube kit and start from there
That sounds amazing
mine is 1 year old and does worse
haha
i use a markus from ikea
You probably have the most satisfying kb sound here xd
ye this sounds much more full than ur other ones but u also did the sound test differently
xd
how so?
I also wanna try out polyfill
What extra did you do to it?
I meant like
i wanna put some kilmat into my spacebar if it works
New thing you added
also wanna try the kilmat as a dampener as well
i do typing test
spam test
stabs check
then bounce check
ohhh
using my phone mic
if its not changed from your other sound tests that is a huge difference
its very quiet in the room so i could do a proper sound test
its the same from the recent one
the one i tried to do quickly
there was alot of fans and my dad was walking everywhere
my enter key sounds nice even without stabs 🤣
oh shi
uh holdu
im sorry i mightve not understand your questions @untold wigeon
yeah its not even that bad without stabs i'd say its sound better but its obvs not as stable
its fine take ur time
but yeah lemme find the stock one
yeah i wanted to see a comparison between the stock case and that new alu case u got with the only difference being the case
it sucked
oh lol
thankfully all my wires were straight
the left side is just odd
oh wait wtf
they sound ok now
ima send sound test for that
I don't have to balance mine because tx plate mount stabs come nicer stock
better tolerance xd
tx makes plate mount?
yeah
slowly but surely
sure
i mean as far stuff goes i think this is gummy mount but the sound is perfect for a gaming keyboard
what i like abt this one is that these 4 keys on the bottom right dont sound bad as they do in the stock case for some reason
yeah
lool bro said it in an asian tone
literally
inner asian indeed
i also lubed 2 switches differently one with a decent bunch of 205g0 on the spring and one with a lot of it, the difference it makes is insane lmao
i need to buy some more lube
like the keys on the outside like numbers and functions keys they just sound odd in stock
yeah they really do
my tab and my caps lock sound so hollow for some reason, i might overlube those 2 but im almost out of lube for now
mines are as well
or was?
idk
even with the new case?
lol mine sound clacky
same for my esc key
they sound weird in general
my escape is clacky but tab and caps are clacky and hollow
YEAH SAMEEE
@quiet bay how this sound?
on the steel plate it was minimised so im blaming it on the case
left kinda sound odd but not that noticeable
ye i thought so
OH I SEE WHY I SAID WTH AND ALL THAT
also the switches were almost perfect besides that chattering noise on the steel, the plastic one almost makes them feel like they are unlubed
im gonna try lubing the springs up more on those 2 and see how it does
the switches gotta be better in general
they suck
soundwise
whats the top housing made of in the first place
like take that
and compare to other materials
nooo idea
IS THAT WHY
PROBABLY
NAME A GOOD SWITCH
oil kings
it seems that
the good sounding switches
consist of nylon
and some sort of other material
Pom and Nylon yis
the only thing that is nylon in lekker switches are the bottom housing
stem is made out of pom
so is the oil kings
hmmmmm
so the major difference is top housing
if the top housing was made out of nylon or something
IT WOULDVE SOUND AMAZING
I have no idea
name another switch
hmm
tangerine v2
gazzew boba u4t
would be cool if Wooting got to produce their own mold of switches
that sound good
Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene housing
holy yappy name
unknown
honestly
rrrrrr
id be happy if they change the top housing mold
i think it would sound the same as if we have the switch tape mod
someone finally
solid
They sound very consistent
dude should we write like a support thing to them
idk
ok lemme restart
didnt tirade say that there was a lekker 2.0
@fluid ravine i heavy relubed the spring on both the tab and capslock, they sound so much different, they sound very similar to the left shift now
I think they went with gateron as their manufacturer anyways cuz they ran into a problem or something
like probably in the future
interesting
i think i just went way too light on the springs
and its been 3 months since i lubed them
if they do
we should like write them a support thingy about changing the mold to something else
like nylon or whatever
i lubed them lik 8 times
i did another one but way over the top and its unusable so there is a limit to this method
hmm yeah but we aren't experts so we can't really provide them with any ideas 😭
what did u use?
its an idea
i think they need to find a way to do the switch tape mod from the factory
ok now im thinking about it
I feel like
why did they even choose PC in the first place
you know the slider on the stems
wassup
I feel like the sliders could change material
or make a box stem
and change top housing
ohh right
I remember now
I saw a switch i dont remember
but
it had like
silicone dampeners on the sliders or something
yeah originally they were going from box stems
but something in the switch didnt work out
so
they went with gateron and chose their switches but change the colors no?
but this would def make it quieter
so technically gateron chose the material designs im guessing
im a absolute noob in materials
but im thinking out of pure logic rn
yee
cuz honestly
the lekker switches sound very plasticy
without foam it's not the greatest
but it's very smooth
which is pretty much the PC top housing
think about it
i tried the PC keycaps and they made they keyboard sound more like plastic
so yeah
top housing is our biggest problem
pc is too plasticy!!
wdym pc keycaps?
lol
polycarbonate keycaps
anyways
how do i write a message
u mean the stock ones?
to them giving these ideas
i tried some akko pc keycaps one time
i didnt like them bc of sound and the performance
alright time to become typing cat
Any keycap and vendor suggestions?
i hope those 2.0 lekkers come soon
what does box stems do again
do they eliminate wobble or anything?
dust proof?
idk?
probably wobble
it depends how much ocd you have
nope, it just begun
when i lubed these up for the 1st time and actually for the first month too they sounded really nice but now they sound closer to stock
i mean not that bad tbh bc for the most part i cant even hear the keyboard when i have my iems in
i just want a decent thock yk?
not the shit i have now
i have an open back headphone so i can hear it with music at normal volume
spent all this money on the keyboard to look nice at least want it to sound decent
i think what also needs to be done, they need to sell films on the wooting store
my ass did the other way around
lol
the amount of hours i spent lubing the backspace and now its back to rattling is killing me
i really fucking hate plate mount stabs but with pcb mount ones you cant gummy mount
i never planned on gummy mounting tbh
just have the backspace on plate mount and get there rest to be screw in
i mean i used to not care about sound but now im just in too deep to not care a little bit
ye well the backspace is the one thats causing me issues cuh
then make it not have a issue
cuh
im going to just send my wooting to @fluid ravine pls send back with maximum thock
lmao
bet
pour less soul like i did and it will sound better
shouldve sold ur soul instead
i already did that
i think whats gonna happen at some point is i just need to main 2 keyboards not just one
🗿
thats the only way to fix this problem
boy math
i gave my tofu to a family member permanently so might just build a mode envoy
OK
i have been eyeing that one for a long time
GN
Question my friends, is the wooting PCB 1.6mm ?
yes
I guess so, and wondering if the new "Module" that Wooting is going to release of just PCB+Plate+screw'in stabs will be the same thickness
but only the module supports PCB monuted stabs
yeah yeah i know
wait screw in TX are a thing now
so wanted to rush that 😄
is that a question or a statement? lol 😄
if its a question, yes ... they have them
😄
didn't know that
yeah, and its the rev.4
last time I looked at tx stabs it was clip in only
I guess they finally caved
i was in doubt too but
Although i still think that durock v2, tuned, are pretty solid ... not so great stock ... but i never leave stock stabs
lol
I'll stick to cherry stabs anyways
ohhh and i have some akko screw'ins here to try out too ... damn ... forgot about those
Yeah i mean, tbh, i'm not super picky with Stabs ...
Although my latest builds used Durock V2 and Everglide Panda's ... just because i wanted to try them, so if the Modules comes at an ok price i may buy it to do an extra wooting and try the TX, that way i give my wooting to my kid 😄 he wanted a razer keyboard and i was able to make him go away from that idea 😄
you can make most stabs sound good
yep that's a fact
my issue usually is that i holee mod the stabs, and when they come pre'lubed its a PITA
I used to holee mod my durocks since they are very hard to tune without
Cherry clip ins and TX stabs don't need holee to sound good
good stabs
I just use 5,50€ stabs
clip them
and lube them once installed with a syringe
takes like 5 minutes from clipping to being done
👍
and they almost end up perfect
Whatever works for you
So since you had durocks and TX
do they sound that much different after you mod them ?
i mean, i know you don't need to holee mod the TX but i think at the end i will do that because it's my flow for stabs 😄 eheheh
had both durock v1 and v2
as well as tx gen 2
and post modding they sounded the same to me
same goes for cherry tho
ehehe i think, tbh
durocks were the most fiddly one tho
sometimes we overthink ...
its like, for me my durocks v2 cannot sound better right now
but i have the same experience with the everglide panda's v3 ... and they are plate mounted 😄
the differences are so minimal that if you don't do an apples to apples after mods ...
they will be perfect 😄
but... its modding ... what matters is changing things for after-market parts and getting rid of stock parts 😄
aint that the truth
Does anyone have ceramic keycaps on there wooting ?
plenty on wootstation
dang are those really needed ?
i just put mine in plates/cups lol
haha does look pretty cool though
Yeah lol
yeah i get you man! im little ocd with my desk too ! has to be clean and symmetrical !!!
oh thats not a bad price !
Does anyone have ceramic keycaps on there wooting with l 45 that can answer some questions for me ??
I'm considering modding my wooting keycaps to show the function layer mappings on the side of the keys. I'm thinking if I can figure out how to cut through the black plastic precisely, I'll be able to fill the void with white/clear silicon to show the RGB.
Anyone think this is possible?
I don't have a CNC, but I was thinking about using a stencil to map out the material lines to be cut with an exacto knife.
I'm wondering how well the RGB will show with the current LED orientation. I think you can flip the switches 180 degrees, but it might hurt the legibility of the main text.
You can have the switches north facing or south facing
Do you know if it visibly effects the RBG backlighting on the font?
Haven’t tried south facing with backlit keycaps personally
I would just try it myself, but I don't have a switch puller. Never pulled one myself.
You can get one for pretty cheap
Or buy Wooting blank tool kit
@stray tiger @fluid ravine yooo, do you guys have any indications to push the pcb into the case ? I actually find a o ring for « tofu 60 v1 » in a local store, 55A thought
It fits well, but I’m a bit scared to push it into the case since it seems very tight
Seems like I can’t make it fit without pushing hard, even when I push a little bit it doesn’t go in, the o ring pulls out from pcb
don’t do that, lekker switches have 0.1mm tolerances any movement and it’ll impact performance
unfortunately you have to go with tray mount or frog mini with custom plate
tofu is not o ring compatible
og v1
burger mount compatible
Placing silicon o rings on the mounting posts
I don't know about the tofu no working with o ring mount, but generally speaking when putting the pcb in with a gummy o ring mount it takes a bit of massaging so to speak to get it in
They way I do it, is I put the back in first and the sides in a bit
Then you push down so the sides can slot in
When putting in the front, place the whole assembly down so the oring touches the case
Then push in on one corner
Slowly
When the o ring starts popping out, push it back in and push the assembly down more
Slowly you get the whole thing in with the o ring sitting right
I have the redux. I just found a tofu v1 o ring
Thank you. I figured out to push the uneven / o ring part that were popping out with a soft screw driver
Don't push it directly down into the case
Good
XD
Switch puller
Take one end
Hook it under the plate and pull it out
And 55A has 0 bounce omg
Yeah my bounce is doesn't respond as much
Under the plate ? Not under the pcb ?
I will figure that out later
Under the plate
Ok I gtg now
See ya in a few hours
It has make the sound profile so even and equal
Need to keep in mind that your pcb might be hitting the screw posts, that limits the bounce
See y’a tenz. Soon I’m gonna receive all the stuff to get my high end wooting
Isn’t it dangerous
I have a 50A and there is some bounce, but my o ring rests on the case standoffs, pcb doesn't touch anything
Is advisable to put some foam or something on the screw posts, protects the pcb and helps with stopping the sound transferring into the case via the standoffs
Don't make a habit of that, could start scratching the case or damaging the o ring, when u start taking it in and out for different mods.
If you catch it early enough you can push it in with your finger nails no problem
Debating doing burger mount or gummy o ring mount when I get my alumaze. Any suggestions or opinions?
Gummy should give you a more even sound profile, so I would go with that
Thanks, I’ll try that out
Any recommendations on o ring? Was gonna try the Bakeneko60
That's a solid one, if you can get one go with that
Awesome, thanks again
No problemo
How do you pull it out ? It’s so tight
It takes a bit of force, start at one of the lower corners. Should start coming up, can switch to the other corner and then it should pop out
What do you grab to pull it out
I tried with a keycap / switch
It popped it out
Any tools ?
i have the tofu with gummy oring
to take out
i put padding on case
then use screw driver to lever from the spacebar
take out space bar and switch
slowly not too much force
but yeah careful not to damage the case and the board
and dont take it in and out for no reason
Dang, placed this order 3 hours ago and they already shipped it
👏
Anyone tried spacebar foam? And opinions on it
Nice
From which site
Kinetic Labs
Hmm where do I find that
Just got this in my mailbox few seconds ago
I don’t have time to put it now
i use a pack of rubber thingy u put under keycaps
It’s exactly the same foam that u showed
Yeah it’s poron foam
I have no clue what this is
But I get it
You Grab the plate, remove 2 switches, then take the switch puller an grab onto the part of the plate between the 2 switches
Just takes a bit of force, but the steel plate can handle it
O-Rings. They’re good if you want to mute the sound when bottoming out. I use .1mm actuation and try not to bottom out, so I didn’t do this mod.
Generally people call it "cheating" cause tuning the stabs and a nice keycap should to the trick, but to hell with that, whatever makes the board sound better 🤷♂️
If your space bar is super loud, the foam will help.
Oh. I have Pc plate btw 😂😂
Well you wanna be more gentle then
Do you have 2 switch pullers or something similar?
Pulling from 2 corners would split up the force
Should be better for the plate
Sweet, lol appreciate the info
I will find a way. I always try to find my ways, I just ask if someone have specifical methods so I can save time searching
Let us know what you come up with
I use a pack of hundreds of these to but anything that will protect the case is good
Then idk if its safest option
You put those between the screw driver and the case?
Seen Bad Seed Tech use something similar to this, think it was foam tho and said it was a PITA to put on lol
These look easier to apply tho
Than what he had
Oh you used these for burger mount instead of keycaps?
Oh
Would be scared the driver slips off, but hey if it works it works
I sacrificed my rk68 and my ajazz diced fruit peach switches for science. I wanted to hear what a “keyboard” would sound like if it was made out of clay so that’s how this pancake came to be. It’s pretty straightforward, it’s air dry clay on wood with diced fruit peach linear switches. I took out the spacebar stabilizers from my rk68 and placed ...
And we thought we were keyboard modders
We’re only at the surface, this is end game
Theres the water bottle keyboard too

Very cool keyboard mounted wall but they're all higround 💀
36 higround keyboards and not a single custom one 😭
Way too much blank space between boards.
It's part of the brand. It has definitely paid itself back already (and I bet a lot of those were free sponsored items)
For the alumaze 60 im having issues with the bottom spacebar screw, it is just not elevated enought?
I dont see any golden bit to install here
Two standoffs were included.
I got the concrete one and i see the thing on the left side
Ohhhhhh
Wait its another bag
I see it
If you want to use the screw on spacebar (optional, changes sound), you need that one.
Don't install the one in the center. Not used by the 60HE.
Did 3 layers and it sounds more solid
Right one is 3 layers
Left is 2
I will relube when donr
For the 10000th time
why would you
smooth the tape out
more
also just wanna make it sound nicer again xd
is that normal that with gummy o ring mount; the pcb sit that much higher in the case that i can see almost whole plate xd, its like ugly af
U push it all the way down?
can u show your spacebar
Kk
I mean
Like this
But Ty btw
Every mod I make everyday makes me even more closer to a solid thocc
It’s a tofu redux
O
So if I remember right 7 degree
Weird
Did u
Remove top layer of wooting foam
Cause I got wooting foam and 10 layers of tempest mod 💀
I like it
how is it vs 5 layers
okay, i got pretty much the same as tenz
yeah its alot to me
Just added these to my spacebar
Ok maybe not the angle
Actually no
Its like
The same
Its probably because the plate makes it stand out more for u
ok, same as me
i got pc plate too pochizop
bruh when im done doing all the switches tape mod
U should probably try spray painting it grey or black
lemme retake that
ill be gucci
zzzz
was gonna say with gummy mount, your keys should line up with the case like TenZ has shown here @cyan adder
im really happy with my o ring mount actually
Something odd with the feet here or am i insane, one of them seem woobly and slimmer the other one is the same as the ones it comes with so no wobble? Im kinda confused
Do u use reverse spacebar
Yea its def smaller
Installed both and one i can pull out just brushing my hand thro it and the other one is stable
There you go
I can’t hear the difference actually
Which one is more thocky ?
It just makes it sound more “solid”
It dampens upstroke alot more
I actually have a little bump with 3 layers. I think I’m gonna stick to 2 layers
o u did it wrong then
Nah we talked about it yesterday
Also my medical tape i found here in france is a little bit more thicker than yours so
I guess it’s normal
ig just stick with two yeah
My spacebar. Phone mic, more thocky irl
Does anyone know if keebmat’s keebtape works with the Wooting?
Im so happy to mod my keyboard lol I think one day I’ll end this and so sad I will have nothing to mod since I’ll achieve my perfect aimed sound
Has anyone tried it?
Yeah some people are using it
I also ordered mine, should come in next days
There was few people here using it without troubles, also they made a Reddit threat about it in wooting section
It should replace my actual tempest mod, or maybe I’ll use keebtape + some tape mod layers over it
You have a sound test on YouTube
1 sec
I was challenged by @keebmat to do a sound comparison between my beloved moleskin tape mod and the keebtape, a proprietary tape mod that keebmat's developed. I ended up doing a sound test with no tape, with painters tape, with moleskin, and with the keebtape.
Quick synopsis:
- No tape: hollow don't recommend, unless you're a purist. (I'm not...
Remind that a single mod will never change the sound by a big level, the combination of multiples mods will. That’s what I’ve learned here
no
Thank you!!
:c
it is
Wdym by reverse spacebar?
Flip the spacebar
put your spaacebar backwards
And whats the purpose for that lol
Other way around
personal preference
Its more comfy for me
Is it better or something
Do the tape touch the plate ??
Ah okey got it
I thought it shouldn’t touch it
Bc it looks like it touch the plate xD
Maybe it’s a good idea ? To reduce the space between the plate and the switche
Almost
Is that like a way to not use a switch film?
Films and switch tape mod are two completely different things
Also as you’ve tested a lot and I’m a bit lazy to pull in / out my pcb with this gummy mount, can you tell me if I reduce the tempest mod layers, should it tend more to thoc ? I mean I have 5 layers of tempest mod. Does 3 layers will make my keyboard more thocc than poppy ?
Varies with each kb
For me the less layers I had the more clacky it was
I did not know anything about switch tape mod lol sorry, is it better ?
Now that I’ve pushed my pcb far inside the case I’m don’t wanna pull it out for nothing
Nah its fine the mod was invented specifically for lekker switches
Cause they sounded chattery out if the box
its the solution to the chatter
should i add some info on why it chatter
like about the thing we discussed last night
Nah it fine
we already got that whole message
Is that problem fixed? Do you have a video on how to do it?
Yea not me lol
yeah but u still get that thunk at the end and this shit requires way more time than lubing to do lmao
The problem is fixed with the switch tape mod
But no video
i think i'd just rather wait for better switches
I would make one if I had a camera
No phone camera?
If I don’t finish my 60 switches tape mod tonight I’m a bad guy
Its gonna be terrible
So frustrating to have 10 switches only
how much time for 10
So basically you just put tape around the switch or something like that or how do i do it lol
I am very curious on how to actually do it.. since i am playnning on doing it in the future for the module
Yes me too
Well you always get very long for the first 2-3. Then I would say 3min / each. Note that I’m talking to my wife on the side
Once you’re used to it
It’s just boring after some time that you know you have all that left in to do
Also it’s not one shot every time. Sometimes I cut a little bit too short / long
So you might lose some time to do adjustments
Well actually 20/hour, in 3 hour you’re basically done
id much rather use a diff keyboard and use this just for gaming than do that until new switches drop
ye thats without mistakes
3 min is a large average. If I one shot all the layers without adjustments needed one switch is done under 2 min. Even 1 min 30 id say
It’s really worth doing it
If you’re really chasing thocc
im not chasing thocc, im chasing a switch that actually sounds good
idc if its clacky deep or silent
Well at some point you would care
obvs
After some time
honestly i'd rather see new switches before the module
Camera cant focus for shit
that looks way too tedious
omg
Tbh I messed up a bit I coulda gone quicker
lmao
Lmaoo
Ikr ? How many times I lose taking your little piece of tape that get caught on the cissors
for the 60he plate file, how can it convert it to a .stl file for tinkercad?
wait ur actually playing games with the gaming keyboard u bought?
that sounds cringe
wtf\
lmao
😭
i spent more time modding it than playing games with it
and the games i played were Starfield, Cyberpunk and Robocop since i got it
Okay so my actual mods :
Tofu Redux Gray + Brass Weight
PBT Keycaps Dyesub Japanese Gray Ceyment by Kbdfans
Lubbed switches with 205G0 (stem, bottom housing, springs bag lubbed with 105g0 oil)
Lubbed stabs with 205G0 (wires + housing)
Polycarbonate plate + stock plate foam
5 layers of blue masking tape behind the pcb
1 layer of stock case foam
Silicone dampener from kbdfans on the case standoffs
Spacebar Foam
Gummy O ring Mounted, pcb held by friction only, 55A
Left to do / currently in transit :
Testing keebtape
Testing « Thock films », pcb pads, plate pads from keebtape (in transit)
Swapping to Graveshift 30A / 35A O ring (in transit)
Use dielectric grease on stabs Wires (in transit)
Switches taping all my switches [2 layers]
After that I’m DONE.
My mats just landed in France days ago, still held by customs 😭😭😭
