Just noticed a lot of people trying to stuff in as thick as foam as they can and hoping for super thocky sounds. Also, and this might be a shock, but aluminum cases aren't amazing for a thock sound. Believe it or not, plastic is better. It's frequency response.

Thinner foam is better at reducing higher frequencies, resulting in a lower sound. The thicker the foam the better it reduces lower frequencies resulting in a higher sound.

It's the main reason I use polyfill/fiberfill in a lot of my aluminum cases instead of foam.

Thick foam doesn't reduce frequencies equally. While any foam will reduce the frequency range by some amount, thinner foams reduce the higher frequency sounds more than thicker foams.

Foam density also plays a role (not just thickness). Lots of variables, but overall, if you want thock, less is more.

Looking at MLV it's great as a sound barrier for frequencies over 100hz (which would cover keyboard sounds) so MLV might be the same as dynamat or other sound deadening materials in that it will do great at reducing sound levels overall. So it might be great if you want to make the keyboard more muted.

Sounds fine, as long as your stabilizers don't have any ticking and rattling that's probably the main thing given that it's a solder build. I shudder thinking about desoldering, it's such a pain without a desolder gun.

And KTT are definitely a good brand, I have the Roses and they're great to type on and smooth out of the box

I wouldnt do it over again. The housing are pretty tight stock and even after opening them properly, lubing and reassembling them they are still tight. If you open your switches numerous times or use a crappy opener, and the housing starts to get loose, then it might make sense to try and film them.

Just bare in mind that clear keycaps are an absolute finger print magnet, and it really shows

Cherry Profile is most standard use so no issues there

your concerns should be on the material and legends

Legends are UV Printed with coating, UV print will fade sooner than double shot dye sub used in modern keycap sets since its only printed on top of the key

Material: Transparent Polycarb
its different ABS or PBT which are commonly use for keycaps and since its transparent its thinner
Feel: it has a somewhat solid jelly and slightly sticky
Sound: slightly more hollow but not annoying bad

I have Clear 2048 and this just my input comparison from normal keycaps

I can't say I have a favorite brand. For PBT keycaps. I have sets from pbtfans, novelkeys and cannon keys that are all solid. If I had to choose I'd pick novelkeys since I know some of the folks personally. For ABS and what I own the most of, are GMK of course but I also have sets from other manufacturers that are quite nice also.

Ic thanks maybe the foam under the pcb blocked some of the per key rgb. They still shine through without dedicated underglow. Try poly fill or silicone instead maybe that would help

Blank Keycaps, anything that I should 'know' when it comes to high-end keycaps. I'm rather 'newish' to custom keyboards. I do however, am confident and familiar with dissassembly, lubing, tech in general.

Just want to go high-end if that makes sense.

I've seen some ceramic ones aswell, but i am not sure if that 'works' or interferes with the wooting. Idk if it causes issue or compatability issues with the lekker switches? What is the go to when it comes to quality?

Well since they’re blank, they don’t really need anything lol. They’re all pretty cheap since they don’t need much color variety or legends. Ceramics are cool and very nice sounding, but you would need to have everything you want done to your keyboard before you install them, because they’re so heavy they wear down the stems of any mechanical switches. Also, the switch will feel much lighter with them installed, because of the weight. I personally wouldn’t go for them.

All I did was get the cherry profile blank keycaps on Amazon, granted mine isn’t a Wooting but it would be the same process.

I assume you have a R1 Unikorn tray mount? If so no need for a plate as we have been gummy o-ring mounting the 60HE in tray mount cases for almost a year now. If you have an R2 version, its center mount USB so no luck. If you must have the notches in the plate for the edge risers, you'll have to have a plate made.

The 60HE uses a very popular 60% standard from other brands and DIY kits. There is no such standard for the 2HE or fullsize keyboards.

You'd have to make your own case.

Hey guys, I tried to swap out the springs in my Lekker switches to Silent Black Ink v2 springs earlier and they were way smaller in diameter. What options do I have for heavier springs for the Lekkers(L60)?

yeh you have to have to screw in a gold standoff that came in the little package thing

Cherry or OEM profile are generally the most popular, and then choose which material you like; PBT is less prone to shine than ABS. Either one is fine imo. Amazon is a good place to start if you don't need anything super fancy
