Not in terms of low end lmao
A cheap set of iems will slaughter gaming headsets for half the price and include a mic
But
Once you hit $70? The headsets can be good
Obv if you go wireless you lose alot of sound quality
But that's just eh
Battery vs quality
Yea and the new models are even better
senns drop exclusive headsets are pretty good a bit on the dark side of sound but still good
the 38x and 37x
they have a Amazon shop but they are a bit more expensive
dark side of sound will never not make me think of an audio mafia making deals
lol
And vs 10 years ago headphones have dropped in price for the same quality by nearly 10x
I meant more as dark in the sound signature
Nothing Sennheiser is dark lmao
the 38x and 37x are considered slightly dark, the 600 series is considered warm
I have a pair of Sennheiser's but can't tell you if I agree or not since I have no clue how it should sound
🤷 relative to the freq response of human ears, sennies are recessed low natural mid and the highs depend on the model
Just because you prefer there to be less low does not mean that on the absolute scale they have more
Sure if you compare to something like the koss bassless headphones they are very very boosted in the bass
But we are humans not frequency response analysis machines
Then that depends on the headphones 🤷
All that all Sennheiser models have is low lows and mid mids
And the highs depend on the model and vary greatly
the human ear is vastly different from person to person, everything is subjective, I'm going off of what the graphs say
600 series is known as classical monsters with poor low end
no? they're good at everything you toss at them they don't just sound good with classical
classical has low end too
every genre of music I've tossed at my 6xx from piano solos to goreshit sounds good
Well that is the subjective part obviously
But in terms of actual frequency response, they are generally about even with human ear response except at the low end
ofc it excells at certain things but that mid centered tuning is what's good about them
Yep I loved my sennies until I tried the mh755s
And realized wow there is info here that the sennies just don't produce
After that I started trying to find good audio stuffs and went down the iem rabbit hole
The problem is that sennheisers are allergic to sibilance , and do some questionable tuning at the high end to fix it on their cheaper headsets
yea sure but that goes with most brands, take moondrop for example the ssr for example before the chu came out
Yep
I want to get into a more fun signature just don't really have the money rn, considered the philipone just don't have the money rn
also been wanting to get a used lcd 2
But their headsets only really get accolades knowing the time they released or the price they released at or the build quality
It ain't just sound
Done get me wrong
I love my 560s, 6xx, and pc360
But I know it's not the best
And that it's pretty weak at low end
So spensiv
Imo get different cans for different needs, there's no perfect headphones
Tho me irl= get everything wireless for dat ergonomic freedom
overall I absolutely prefer my E-MU teaks
granted I have been listening to a ton of hiphop the past year or so
the HD6XX just feel lackluster with bass-heavier music
nice
well I still EQ them, stock they sound a bit overwhelming
I have a eq for my 6xx which boosts the treble a bit and subbass
I want to get more into the speakergame, since you tend to get more impactful sound
my current speakers are ok, edifier e25s but they're on the small side
I like sound too loud for speakers in my home
only issue is speakers are far more expensive
And leak sound alooooooot more than headphones lol
yeah not too sure I want to have my neighbors hearing Japanese music at random times in the day
Just a casual reminder that KSC75 is end game to some die hard audiophiles and it's priced at like 20$
Value that you cannot beat even if you tried
Speaking from experience?
The mh755 are $8 and are definetly far better
Yep
I have my ksc75s around here somewhere
They are alright but they just do a terrible job at most music
And the new moondrop chu are very good all-rounders for $20 too
Lel
then again you kind of need to be able to hear when on a bike for safety
that's why bone induction became popular
Says you
I use iems no problem
also depends where you're biking
if it's a mountain trail no problem but in the city awareness is needed
🤷 I'm good
My most expensive audio product so far is my tws buds lol
These boys were actually cool back then
put the cable along your back and use the cable divider against your neck
that's the best way to keep them out of the way and from getting messy
I'm planning to get the Sony Xperia 1 IV, and assuming I get the WH-1000XM4s as a gift, I am very much excited to compare my 100$ Melomanias to "industry leading" XM4s
the xm4 bass shelf
Wh or wf?
I'm aware
Kinda funny that my K702s are borderline my endgame
According to Crinnacle's chart these rank extremely highly to the point without spending a grand I doubt I'd be seeing much of an improvement getting anything else
There's another xm4
Sony makes such an insane number of products that they do actually need that sort of code
Before the dash is category, after is specific product
There are alot of words but most of them are in use for meaning other things already :P
Because Samsung makes like 6 audio products
Dunno why usually the WH of Sony's gets a lot more interest than the WFs
Sony makes hundreds upon hundreds
because bass shelf and hype
Samsung would be stupid not to make audio products since they bought out Harman and AKG
And has been making them for 40? Years
They were
They make alot of professional gear
And their professional gear has the same basic naming structure
It's actually really nice to be able to search the name of the product and only find it
You can't pick all 3 between decodability, searchability, and descriptiveness
In absolute terms it doesn't
Besides
The model names are insanely short and easy to google
There's really no need to remember them unless you intend to actually recommend the stuff
If you are checking reviews it's painless and if you don't care then ignore it
here's a decent naming scheme
Brandname - product line - year
the year can be cut to just last 2 digits
Still 1 digit longer
And doesn't solve the large quantity of distinct products issue
That's exactly what they do...
Except with the number instead of roman numerals
Sure that's fine
But marketers would instantly idsqualidy that from being in the name too
They want the product to sell even the next year
It's not like a car where they make changes every year
Like if you do what you say you have the Tesla problem where there is insanely low visibility on the actual features of the car from the model name and year alone
Call them "Sony xm4 earbuds" if you want
Because that's longer and has collisions with other product names
Not today, because Google knows that popular thing
It's either Google or bing
Or whatever china and Russia use
There are like 4 indexers in the world
ddg is bing if you say you are using that
You use one of them
Sony-Wh-20
easy
I doubt you use the Russian or Chinese one so it's Google or bing
wh for headphones
wf for buds you said it yourself
Ok so their 40 or so models of headphones
w is for wireless
Sony makes too many products to just distinguish by year
They make alot of tws buds @final flame
https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Headphones-Bluetooth-Technology-WFXB700/dp/B085VQFZ8Z
Now they often aren't good but there are alot of them
Enjoy deep punchy EXTRA BASS sound in a truly wireless headphone The WF-XB700 truly wireless headphones keep you going with up to 18 hours of battery life plus quick charging 1 The Ergonomic Tri-hold structure provides a secure fit and the IPX4 design gives you long-lasting sound through rain and...
It's an article by the company about how they use Microsoft resources to search
Mhm yep definetly
Either way
Currently relevant product searches properly
Even if missing some currently relevant information
The point is that Sony has a 40 year catalog of products, and all of them can be uniquely identified by model number
Now should they maybe have a model name that is fewer phonymes? Maybe, but they don't and it is intentional
Like it's not a problem if they use bing as long as they block sending user data and uniquify each search, but the point is in 30 years you will be able to find the product if any info about it still exists by typing a simple number from the bottom that is far shorter than most other comapnies' numbers
thats the main downflaw with newpipe
you don't have anything linked
I liked Vanced when that was still being updated
ik I still use it, it's just when YouTube decides to crack down on it it's gone forever
could always make a new email and use it dedicated for vanced
Meh
Google is just gonna ad ads back in
They won't ban people for using it (probably)
probably as in they could if they wanted to but maybe not
They made custom encoder hardware
embedded ads 🤮
It's not hard just spend a billion dollars on encoder rnd /s
Yep
Sponsorskip and dislike counter are still working
oh nice its science, I thought I just found the only slow people lmao
its not hard
It takes about a week to get used to it and then it's just better
The problem is that conveying information fast is hard, if you arent trying to follow along while doing something there's no point to follow in realtime
Ok so imagine you want to know what someone thinks but only need to know the information
im interrested enough to spend 10 minutes to get the info, not enough to spend 20 minutes on it
And they are saying the information via speech
No matter how fast of a speaker they are, I am faster at processing the input
Humans are designed to input alot of information
And really not designed to output much info
Ngl I never do anything without either youtube or music in background
Watching at 1x is reserved for when I am following along with someone does a task
If I am just absorbing info, I do it as fast as I can process
Ngl I usually use YouTube videos just for background noise so don’t speed them up
well I dont speed up a music video to 2x
Yup
Nightcore enjoyers
Yuuup
I used to watch to ton of hysterical videos mostly from medieval battles and such but ran out of them
Ok
.....
This is the most jank way to do that shortcut
because mac
normally you'd hit it with the pinky
but because Ctrl is not on the corner you have to hit it with the thumb
if you are already rotating your hand that amount, rotate it a tiiiiiny bit the other direction
or heck, hit both keys with the same finger
Be warned it's an MLID leak
So the guy that spouts bullshit daily, and if it sticks it's to his credit, if it's false like most shit he says it gets deleted
I heard he's like a real hardware engineer or something that worked with TSMC, so he might have proper sources
But the guy is not veritable at all
its pretty easy to assume that mlid is wrong
x670 is currently rumored to start at 200 where x570 was rumored to start at 150
b650 is not going to be cheap in the absolute sense either because ddr5 requires layers
Might be the x670 chips are cheaper to try and help offset the cost of additional pcb layers
the problem is there are 2 x670 chips
per board
and this has been confirmed with real boards that are almost retail ready
The two chips make it cheaper then one monolithic chip
not if each chip is the size of the old monolithic chip lmao
Irc isnt each chip like a b650?
remember also the x570 chip was repurposed semifunctional ryzen iodies
They double the chip to essentially double io
it is a b650 chip
but the b650 chips are more expensive than b550 because they arent promontory
no they dont
thats not how they are using them
Gimme nore deets i hunger for knowledge
I thought logically they would split pcie between them to double up
well how does it double?
ok so lets assume each one connects to the cpu individually
our io bandwidth doubles right?
well
apparently thats not what happens because the chips appear to be daisy chained
all they appear to be doing is running the high speed io on the first chip (nvme, sata)
and the low speed io on the second chip (usb, ethernet
now obviously that doesnt make sense, but amd says 24 user accessible lanes on the cpu and 28 physical lanes on the am5 chips
I suppose it's daisy chained for cheaper cost? As having them in parallel would require yet more layers and traces?
Decided to try and find the sizes of the chips. Looks like the x570 is a lot larger then the x670 by eye.
Sure but x570 was literally rejects of their am4 iodies...
All the chips with failed dram controllers for example
And b550 was promontory so it was waaay cheaper
And x670 is on n6 instead of n12
And packaging isn't free
Anyways it doesn't really matter I'm just salty because of the lack of pcie lanew
Is it too much to ask for for an x16 3.0 3rd slot?
That's the same bandwidth as 5.0x4 so it's really not a bandwidth issue, they just don't want to have lots of io on their msdt :(
Are converters x4 5.0 to x16 3.0 cheap?
Why ya need so much io anyhow?
no they are horrifically expensive
but they are built into the chipsets
and i dont need much io
i just need pcie slots
i have a bunch of pcie 2.0x8 ssds and a pcie x16 nic
and I already bought an expansion card that converts a 3.0x16 slot into 4x 3.0x8 slots
so it would be really nice to have a 3.0x16 slot
Yay
Cause 5G totally is not good enough
well it isnt
or maybe there is more that can improve than just raw up/download speed
and even if not, 2026 is not close and file size increase etc.
even if we don't need more bandwidth there's still improvements to be made in network coverage, efficiency etc
Coverage goes down with every generation due to the frequency shift.
So maybe let 4G finish before going 6G xD
nothing that stops adoption from 4g spectrum into the 6g bands in theory
so doesnt really mean coverage goes down at all
Don't know about you, but I have to block 5G access where I live to get a stable signal. Cause it keeps bouncing between 5 and 4.
HARD
idk I only have 4 since I use a budget plan that costs me 0€ a month
Seems to be a weird mix of a whole ass of sources
Part of the reason for shrinking cell size is because of the increasing density of devices. You reach a point where you run out of radio bands and they have to take turns to talk to the tower
^
We hit that point ages ago and mostly spend our time improving how we schedule the time and frequency multiplexing
My house is really good at blocking 4g signal but 5g seems to work alot better
I get about 30 down either way, but I get 10 sometimes 20 up instead of 3
Makes the internet feel alot faster
cant wait for them to say it's 4x the power of a 3090 or similar this time
xD
oh look, should I be petty and go back to check who didn't believe me m2 would not be 3nm and tag them all
thats the comparison btw
wait now its against this

wait even intel is adding AV1 to their gpus l
imagine being outdone by intel gpus lmao
Macbook air has a fucking notch
AN AUDIO JACK
THERE'S AN AUDIO JACK (not what i was showing in the pic)
Apple doesn't like those free open formats and whatnot
They also compared it to a 12 core laptop
yes they compare it to different chips for the same things
Yeah they have audio jacks now and they are aparently pretty good
Well they actually said the windows chip had better top performance which is already good. Compared to what apple would usually say
tf is a "windows chip"
Chip that runs Windows

the what
That.... is disappointing?

Just 18%?
I was thinking M2 will be mindblowing perf increase
You know all that Apple silicon hype
my guy thats a render and the laptop wont be actually twice a humans height
oh its that time again
i swear lad
Or is "18%" faster CPU like, frequency
And not total perf increase
Meh it's Apple nobody in their right mind should care
yes bruv?
just wait for the catchphrase
I sure hope we see Todd on Jun 12th
Resi evil village 1080p on the macbook air
the details

no its normal descriptions since basically nobody knows what node names are if they are generic consumer
"System settings" is a new feature?....
We invented the settings
ye hadnt had em before
- Apple
i had to scrape on the ssd chips to update settings
We invented the paper
...again
- Apple
Apple really is only fun to follow just to ridicule them for all the shit they do and see all other companies steal their sometimes pretty alright ideas
Fuck them for the headphone jack still
if I commuted more I'd def be saltier about that
Why are you watching a video made for journalists?
sheeple
look at ars/anand live blog/ctrl f for M2, got all the info to laugh about
Because it’s apple
And it’s made well
(The video)
So it's trash?
What’s opposite of fanboy called when you just hate on sth because you find it cool to just hate on it even if it’s irrational
Oh it's perfectly rational
Often people go to irrational extends
I hate companies that are quite literally cancer upon humanity
Like genuinely same way there are apple sheeps
You have opposite
Which is people who have heard about apple sheeps
And now think everything apple sucks
Apple has done good things for humanity, but also it's responsible for a lot of the shit that makes everything worse
Which clearly there are some things the devices are good at
I would much rather shit on Apple products and get better devices from other companies
That are more ethical in their practices
Try Eve
apple is a garbage company towards the consumers, but they can make good products now and again
The what
Why are there other apps open sideways on the left side??
Previously opened apps
Apple can do literally nothing to tempt me to get their shit
I prefer open ecosystems and consumer friendly practices
Android is bae
There is like 10 functions that my smartphone can do that I actually use
running a google os on my phone is still less desirable imo
And 1001 that it can do but I'll never end up using
Smartphones are smart enough
Android provides all the necessarily interconnect already
I don't dislike android as such, its just riddled with googles data mining botnets
Well shit if we can degoogle Android succesfully without making it die
I'd be all for that
Apple or Google, I'd rather pay Google
Rip Ubuntu touch
yeah kinda hard to get rid of google services without losing out on good features
Google isn't even that bad of a company afaik
apple would brainwash you if they could
Like sure they mine data and shit
oh wait
At least Google I have never heard of doing terrible consumer practices
And the shit they invest in is very commendable
I rather get the fruit phone, also I have more apps bought on ios so they got me by the balls there too
google is more insidious than that
Idk Goog is kind of under the radar a lot
Not much is really known on what they actually do
they literally rig their search engines that affects political development
google services in general are meticulously filtered by their megalgorithm
first apple needs to design their devices better engineering wise
oh don't get me wrong apple are cunts
and not make their devices destroy themselves
its the same with most other manufacturers tbh
no apple has some real shit design decisions
you just don't hear or notice it so much because they don't have as many eyes on them
especially on interconnects between their sub pcbs
apple has made some really bad engineering decisions for sure
maybe am just lucky but my fruit stuff are all years old, some over half a decade and it just goes
the samsung flagships I had felt well made on early impression but both were kinda falling apart after some 2 years of daily use
personally had customers with superb clean macbooks come in
ssd chips fried due to some really small short between 2 pins
oh I've watched my fair share of louis rossmann
water damage stickers red, voided warranty
and his detailed documentation of their various blunders
nope all clean
apple quoted them a new pcb, battery and topcase
when all that was needed was a new ssd voltage regulator
Oh Right to Repair, why can't you just.. idk... exist?
didnt they get that in the US now?
In like one state
well you don't become the worlds most valuable company by charging people less
well it means they have to sell
or just stop selling in that state
they've started to come around somewhat to the issue of repair, in a sort of apple one step forward two steps back way
and guess what makes it more questionable
was about to ask if you mean their really gimped repair program
yeah they had that super strict program for repair shops
but they also announced some spare parts program for end consumers
haven't followed that up in a while tho
that parts program was gimped my guy
they had like the IP12 only
and not even the parts people replace often
oh yea it didn't have batteries or something
Same
of course there has to be a catch since its apple
Nah it has batteries and screens it was just missing charge ports and the more popular phone models
Come on noone cares about repairing the iPhone 13 or whatever, the phones that need repair are the old ones
Be like Sennheiser where you have a website with an exploded view of the product labeled with numbers, and you order the numbered part
Scuse me?
The base price of apples most expensive product is half the price of the he-1s
The down payment for the he-1s is more than an iPhone costs
the he-1s costs 14grand?
Oh
Lol
the base is prob like 40grand alone
but uh
seriours thats what apple people would say
their products are premium
the rest is scams or just junk
Ofc
Doesn't make it true
Hope Sony converts their pro equipment parts availability to their phones too
just like some linux people paint linux kernel as the be all end all
I might consider the next next gen one
Teeeeechnically the Linux kernel is good enough to do anything as long as you run another os in a VM on top

The hyper-v kernel does tho
Obviously I mean vtx amdv support with bare metal perf and hardware passthrough
Who needs that just software emulate everything
You can run hypervisors over windows but hardware passthrough through windows is very non native
Also hyper-v pcie passthrough is very very very easy to break
Or you could check one checkbox, reboot your computer and have near native perf still?
It isnt
It's just not capable of running an os natively and in a VM at the same time
which is good
It's a capability that the Linux kernel has
architecture wise its very good if vms dont directly know about each other and both think they run natively alone
That isn't the case for the Linux kernel or the hyper-v kernel
as far as i understood the hyperv platform it runs a thin kernel in a root partition and everything else basically is a vm
Yes but the VM is aware that it is in a vm
pretty sure i have seen guides on hiding cpu flags and stuff to hide the vm status from the guest os
That just makes things difficult
You can do some basic timing checks when running an assembly program and you can know
Makes it impossible for a human without admin credentials to tell on windows for example
as everyone does
But if you are running a secure VM, you can tell the difference between Monterey style dedicated hardware and hypervisor based VM systems
still fairly more comfortable with the hyperv approach rather than running an entire os as my hypervisor
The Linux kernel isn't a complete os
And theres no way for a client to tell between the two hypervisors (in theory)
so the linux kernel doesnt require me to run some sort of linux distro to use lxc or kvm
u see hyperv is a tick in a checkbox not an immense pain
the hypervisor basically sets itself up
Yep but that requires that you start with a working os already
The os migrates itself automatically to the hypervisor but I don't see the advantage of that...
auto isolation
"AI-Powered Robots Are Now Cloning Pigs All By Themselves | IFLScience" https://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/aipowered-robots-are-now-cloning-pigs-all-by-themselves-at-a-university-in-china/
In what way?
windows is also running under the hypervisor
i mean u can technically remove that control
sounds like you havent tried hard enough
Ok the equivalent would be installing a Linux distro, then running a script that uninstalls all packages besides kvm
Possible to do and would absolutely work
And you probably wouldn't stop booting
You just wouldnt be able to do anything with the os any more
so basically hyperv core
Hyper-v core is manageable
It's not
It's equally manageable to windows server core
which is also neigh unmanageable
cli based windows is a pain in the butt
Server core is easy to manage
You just run server manager on another computer
thats
The exact same thing as proxmox yes
i give up this is pointless
My job requires me to at least be aware of these things
yet you argue that managing a server with another pc is equivilant to managing it in cli directly with ur statements
my guy managing hyperv core or any windows server core is garbage
the only way its sufferable is thanks to the blessing of a few good tools and one broken af tool
its even more sad that microshit wants us to use that broken tool nowadays despite it being broken
Server manager is perfectly useable
Proxmox web interface is very good
Both of their clis are equally painful
The only difference is that proxmox requires you to download an HTML file directly from the server where server manager is an entirely separate binary blob that you need to download from microsoft
I'm not saying that hyper-v is better in any way
I'm just mentioning that they are the same paradigm terms of hypervisor use, except the Linux kernel is capable of only requiring you to download a DE to add a desktop environment, where hyper-v requires you to download an entire kernel + desktop environment on top of your existing kernel
going over the apple numbers, if they increased the clock speed by just 100mhz that would then mean IPC had a regression from M1
omegalul
That's what happens if you just implement all the fancy speedup tricks that x86 CPUs have had forever in one go
You don't have any options for getting faster besides more koars, kaches or io bandwidth
I knew they grabbed all the low hanging fruit but still
and then to think the people who left to make nuvia, aka the brains behind m1 are fully gone, that's a rough place for apple
because there is no way apple can go back to x86 in the next 5 years
Foes the new m2 support more then 1 external display? Lotto people at my job complained about that
¯_(ツ)_/¯
seems like display stuff was unchanged so probably not
I guess they can say they really outdid intel now though
much worse improvements than intel did with any cpu gen
nah
11th gen was a backport with all its issues, m2 is on a better node and not backported
and at least had newer pcie gen, better gpu etc.
wait they even announced even worse stuff lmao
I love using a plug that covers other outlets to use less power than third party tools can do
But isnt it sleek and think different?
So much wasted space
yup
as comparison
and they have 5w more on each port as well
apples version cant even fast charge the machbook pro
Is it just me or does it look like the plugs unfold 180°?
I really can't see how it unfolds
But also
The direct plug design is so much nicer lol
6th gen was a downgrade on all fronts besides supply compared to 5th
The dram controller was such garbage that it was slower than even 4th gen, and got humiliated by 5th gen
Oh God
Very wrong here
No wow that's atrocious
haha yup
also fair, actually dont remember how 6th gen stacked up to 5th, 3rd to 8th sorta just blends together in my mind almost
Extreme case of sidegrade
1-2 was huge, 3-4 was huge 7-8 was big
4-5 was odd, and 5-6 was a sidegrade with new gen slow ddr4
for consumers its definitely worse sure, on manufacturing side I think the argument could still be valid since they got so little on the an improved node and didnt have to fight a node jump or different memory controller issues
6th gen was the first 14nm gen iirc
Nop
5th gen was
And it was a supply disaster
They only had enough chips to make 2 skus practically
(they made lga and bga versions of each tho)
yeah finding the anandtech articles about it atm
coworker had a 5775 or something like that, dont remember which one it was till I helped him build a 5950x pc
or was it a 5820 not sure
That's aloooot more likely
The 57xx and below chips were very rare
Hedt was 58xx and above
I'm not really talking about those
Those were just gimped xeons and we're perfectly fine
The 5820k was a very nice chip for the time, and getting one on sale was p sweet
ah thjink it was either the 5960x or 5930k
But that was x99
The ddr4 early adopter penalty was real
2133 ddr4 was considered fast
It could barely run 2400
lmao
The qvls only went up to 3200 and it required juicy voltages
I mostly remember the water cooled SLI 980s he had because holy shit that thing weighed a lot lmao
Consider for a second that Skylake (which was unhappy above 3200) had 3800 qvls.
It was pretty bad
oof
well it was also a fucking heavy case because it was one of those pyramid alienware shit cases
My waterblock (single slot) weighs more than any other PC component I've owned
Including steel cases
dear god I really never liked any alienware design
am just happy the monitor is not super weird and just a normal shape
I bought a threadripper motherboard from eBay that came from one of those
It's pretty annoying but was p cheap
I'm gonna try to make some biiiig ram benchmark numbers with some new bdie I just got
are those two tower coolers or is that one monstrosity of a cooler
Two separate
thank god
Random pile of stuff in the corner
at first I thought it was one of those angled coolers, then it looked like some heatpipe might be inbetween then it made no sense lol
The bottom PC has 24gb of ram, but it's not in flex mode, and it's identical per channel
It's actually tri rank per channel
Pretty horrifying stuff
sounds very cursed
Not as cursed as 40gb of ram in 6 channels that my server is

And the cursed part is it's 3 channels per CPU and actually running symmetrical
20gb of ram in 3 channels
That one is HELL to work on as a 3rd party repairman
So many weird extension cables going from one side to another to link front panels and whatnot up.
Just zip tie the board to a milk crate and call it high airflow design
"EU could enforce a single phone charger within weeks | TechRadar" https://www.techradar.com/news/eu-could-enforce-a-single-phone-charger-within-weeks
Finally
All hail USB c
they already kinda enfore a more condensed standard port
doubt they can actually force all usb-c
also usb-c is a formfactor not a standard for how to use it
EU is primarily interested in chargers. So manufacturers are pushed to agree on fast charging standards etc.
As far as USB-C as a form factor goes
Shouldn't EU also specify all the voltage requirements and stuff?
Last I heard, there was this issue where certain charging bricks can't handle voltages that a phone requires
I don't disagree - Personally I'd love to see two charger standards.
One for budget phones with maybe a 30w fast charge minimum?
One for enthusiast phones with maybe a 60? 90w? minimum.
And then an enforced discount specifically on the final sale for not having a charger included.
Didn’t eu literally want companies to stop including chargers?
I'm combining things.
Also enforced discount sounds funny since they can just increase price by the ammount the discount would be, sounds pointless imo tbh
Not including chargers doesn't solve anything when every phone's charger is different.
It's about sending a constant message to both manufacturer and customer.
A reminder that they should be paying less than their last phone with a charger included.
Well if it’s the same phone sure
But when the phone has new features and with inflation prices tend to change
And if you just see price that way you could say that actually the iPhone 12 price decreased because you get 128gb model base instead of 64 which would be 50€ more, while chargers costs like 20€, so actually the price “went down” by 30€ for the same thing
You're missing my point. The retail cost of an iPhone 12 is with the charger included in the price.
If the iPhone 15 doesn't have a charger, the cost should reflect that - Which we all know it won't cause greedy manufacturers. But if they have to list the charger discount then the MSRP is more accurate and reviews and criticism of prices will be better.
What I am saying is that iPhone 12 already didn’t have charger in box, just the cable, and it costed the same as iPhone 11
However this time storage started at 128gb and iPhone 11 with 128gb would cost you 50€ more. While charger costs 20€.
So you could say in that way price went down by 30€.
Even then removing charger and keeping the same price if phone changes does kinda make sense I am afraid considering inflation
that is a really bad calculation because its based off of their own made up prices with extra margins baked in
Looking at the Xiaomi 11t pro
To get the 120W charging you literally need this particular brick
Jesus... 120W charging. 😄
This doesn't really fix the waste problem if your new shiny thing has charging power that needs a new charger brick
What next, 150W and a new brick again?
It reduces it if when a new wattage standard is made everyone has to follow it. Will my OnePlus charge at 60W (which is what it is rated for) on that Xiomi charger? Or will the handshake fail? That sort of thing.
There really is no standard for charging anymore
Samsungs are stuck with like 30W
also electrical limits, its not like you can just go up 50W every 2 years
True - We're reaching a point where phones are getting really hot during charging.
We are reaching a point where a battery isn't really enough to keep em powered
Doesn't the S22 Ultra literally have a 5000 mAh battery and can't hold a day?
that can be solved by better efficiency
well if they follow usb PD specs it would handshake and if it fails usually do like the 5v 2a charge
You'd think efficiency would increase battery life, but the screen tech and everything is sucking up more than we can free up with optimizations and better chip tech
first perf/power goes up then stagnates thus efficiency can catch up
Samsung is also as far as I read, known for having a lot of proprietary gimmicks for power optimization
unsure on the pd spec exactly but there was a fallback mode for handshake failure
And even then the battery life is just sad
Aren’t there like two different standards too, qc and pd some phones using one and some the other?
usb pd is the official standard by the usb consortium afaik
qc is some weird proprietary thing
usb pd is the standard of the future imo
240w over usb-c
up to 48v
QC is like from Qualcomm, based on PD
But very well adapted
Then you have a shit ton of other charging protocols that nobody has ever heard of like VOOC, Dart, Pump Express or XCharge
Almost like being normal isn't an option

what could this mean
You are now a developer
i guess even sticks of ram with the same speed and cas numbers can be completely incompatible
yes
seperately they dont error at all
yup
had an issue in the office where we wanted to upgrade a pc from2x8 to 4x8 and just wouldnt work
was some shitty corsair sticks
same 2x8 combo and all, no chance
this is a lenovo think station both samsung
the 2 original and the 2 expansion
but no dice
seems to be normal if its on sort of crappy samsung dies
F die maybe
not sure what it was
i have a feeling Quickcharge has been around waay longer than usb-c power delivery
since the oem sticks all have really short names
and i already got confused why it couldnt boot from any media at all
it loaded windows didnt find kernel
it loaded linux crashed the system
even the bios froze several times
sounds like a bad mem module
which was somehow fixed with an update
memtest 86 says both are fine
A-Die, might have been the one that is known to cause issues if mixed
thats the oem sticks
yesn't, it can do what it says but it might not work with other packs, which is not broken is more like, extra feature that almost everything else has
ah yes, i had that once with a laptop of mine. if that stick was in there, it crashed after a while. if it wasnt, it was totally fine. memtest ran a complete run (took aaages) and found 0 errors
basically not an issue for any non budget ram mix, but if its the low tier dies they might not work with other non validated packs
well, as I said they aren't bad per se
they just dont have the extra option of working with non validated sticks
It is not
USB PD has been a thing actually a year earlier than QC
I guess qc may have been more used on phones early on
But on other devices PD was indeed around for longer
Well it's qualcomms thing so since snapdragon is so popular they definitely pushed for adoption
Nowadays it's hard to say which one is actually more popular, and it actually doesn't matter I would say
Well it matters in terms of compatibility
Iirc nowadays some phones and power bricks both have PD and QC support
Edited for clarification
well quickcharge is first released in 2013, usb-c was published in 2014
PD literally was released 2012
The initial versions of the USB standard specified connectors that were easy to use and that would have acceptable life spans; revisions of the standard added smaller connectors useful for compact portable devices. Higher-speed development of the USB standard gave rise to another family of connectors to permit additional data paths. All versions...
yup
Yeah QC is proprietary and has nothing to do with PD
But some charging bricks are able to support both so you don't have to buy separate ones
So if your device supports PD or QC, it will do that
If not it'll work at normal speeds
Qc 4.0 is just a rebrand of the most recent pd standard
I ironically have more devices with Firewire than USB in my house.
i ironically have more wire on fire than firewire devices in my house
That’s not very good
Mansen says this but then forgets to count their phones, and any of the devices with FireWire and usb
No I just have that much old Mac crap at this point 😄
Devices with both count as Firewire. Sorry - I make the rules.
🤨
Tbh you don't make the rules, some people in England made the rules a while ago and we have been dealing with the consequences ever since
mansen why did u let brits decide your rules for classifying your personal devices
That's what you do when you speak in English
sorry this is american
I have got some bad news for you
na i think i got some bad news for you
Bork, Bork? Bork!
english being either an umbrella term for multiple varieties of modern english or referring to things from england like the british people or smth
it might surprise you that both american english and british english are english
but not the same
Me? English? Unpossible innit.
Lol ok this will be fun
I feel like sceaming is required when memory stick wanna fight
@fair gull by chance have you checked to make sure your bios/uefi settings wasnt auto-overclocking your RAM sticks?
Also have your updated its firmware
And does your CPU support the frequencies.
Aaaaaaaaa, uuuuh, is one of the ram sticks single sided memory or double?
If you have windows installed, I highly recommend using occt for stress testing
Finds errors waaay faster, and is able to test more than just memory
yes there isnt even a setting for that
an aida64 stresstest has shown theres no issues at all
with either pair of sticks
Aida64 doesn't have error checking
unnecessary since it did bsod within seconda of having booted anything
Lol
or in case of linux crashed while booting
and im with quin on this
it just seems both are incompatible
True, especially AVX2 CPU mode
AMD Zen4 delidded TechPowerUP reports that an unnamed overclocker has already been able to delid the upcoming AMD Zen4 CPU. The site reports that the photograph was more than likely not meant to be shared outside of the closed group, thus the overclocker is not named and no links to the original source are provided. […]
Oh wow..
Unexpected..
Shocking..
Unforeseen..
Completely out of the blue
Unanticipated
Wouldn't happen even once in a blue moon
also old news since it was found in april and updates were already send out
It's a good tv, but it's really quite shocking that Samsung would cheat when they are already in first place
In what metric?
LG's OLED is still one of the best TVs
QD-OLED sure we can talk about it
That article was about Samsung's new QD-OLED wasn't it? I know they cheated with that TV
IRC Sony has the best tv processor according to some reviewers, so once Samsung's panel is combined with that processor it should in theory take the crown.
Only sony tv id buy is a trinitron
zen4 delids looking fun
oh look
Apple has been working with members of the FIDO Alliance, including Google and Microsoft, to ensure that passkeys can also be used with non-Apple devices and across platforms. On non-Apple devices, Passkeys will work through QR codes that will authenticate using the iPhone, but it will require support from other companies, so it's a standard that needs to be adopted across the tech world.
tbf microsoft did say they were working on that a while ago already
so might for once actually work since they want it too
^
On a related note getting my gmail account to work again in k9mail was needlessly complicated.
So basically they disabled password based login, which is fine, however google has not yet authorized k9mail for use of oauth.
Luckily there is a workaround namely to use an app password.
To do so however I first had to enable two factor, (I know, should be less lazy but the password itself is at least secure)
Now here I thought, ok just give me some Totp keys and be done with it.
Oh no you can't just do that, no you first have to enable either login in via your phone or by using sms verification.
So my steps were as follows for all 4 accounts:
enable 2 factor via sms > enable 2 factor via totp > disable 2 factor via sms enable app password > fill the app password into the k9 mail.
Technically I didn't have to add totp but it's good to have while I was setting it up anyway
I know in general it is less secure but I absolutely don't like 2 factor tied to either a third party program or a device
guess im glad i selfhost my mail?
I should do that some time, I am just to lazy to set it up
iredmail docker made it easy-ish ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Not saying it is hard, just too lazy to do the research.
same, I'm expecting some problem to come out at some point with big email providers and I just hope I stop being lazy and set up something before that happens
just too much stuff on it for it to never experience a big issue
comes with a quick guide
the worst part with the most research is actually dkim and spf records
lol
Oh I know that at the top of my head, dkim is not really needed and spf is rather easy
fair enough
not that doing them was hard
i should mention if you plan to use autodiscover with iredmail in general
itll suck
anything but outlook can easily configure itself tho
Outlook is a mess in that regard yea, but hey what do you expect, it's outlook
@ashen spindle
Holy crap these are so good
I didn't realize these existed until you mentioned your set
oh its more like microsoft doesnt like to document their new required json format response
oh the form looks almost identical, nice
the xml autodiscover is sort of known
I wish everyone uses the standard thunderbird uses named autoconfig, much simpler and just works
mfw
ikr... autodiscover could just use other groupware protocols for well the groupware features
usually not a big deal but at work we use a mail provider where the mailservers are not on the same domain as the mailbox
Yea I tried all the new TV headsets that Sennheiser was selling a few years back but they were all complete garbage
These were discontinued a while ago
is there any model left over thats similar and still sold
None that are any good
thats why u buy up all good condition used ones
so, Make Sennheiser Great Again?
Nope Sennheiser is dead

Their consumer audio division is split off into epos audio
which is a bit weird since they still make headphones that are absolutely consumer level
Nope
Sennheiser branded headphones owned by epos
Only their microphones are still under Sennheiser GmbH or whatever it is
https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/de-DE/kopfhoerer/over-ear-kopfhoerer/ so those are all just rebrands that arent marked as such?
Entdecke mit den Over-Ear-Kopfhörern von Sennheiser eine neue Dimension des Klangs. Bluetooth ✓ Geräuschunterdrückung ✓ Tragekomfort ✓ Weitere Informationen hier!
Well no
The split was only in 2019, and all prior products are still under the old name
Also
They are separate companies so that they can sell epos eventually, they aren't yet independently owned (las I checked)
I never found out why that even happened, did they do some dumb decisions and had to sell or did they just miscalculate and didnt make profit anymore?
Dunno the reasoning
Oh 2018
"In 2018, Demant A/S and Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG announced the end of the joint venture, Sennheiser Communications, and that the business segments would evolve in new set-ups. The business segments Enterprise Solutions and Gaming headsets will evolve as a new independent company, EPOS, under Demant"
oh so holdings group that just had to do bullshit, got it
At work I have an epos headset for my desk phone
It's rather janky but the sound quality is fantastic
well yeah I dont think the people all got fired its just weird to do it that way when it seemed to work quite well before and had a strong name
Unfortunately I doubt it was profitable
You simply cannot manufacture in Europe and compete with Chinese products
hmm looks like epos headphones only come as Bluetooth if I dont want them with mic and wireless
eh I shouldnt bother looking, might change a lot when I actually need get one
anyway, glad I could get you to find some good wireless headphones
Dect lol
Oh if you don't want them with mic
ya
Eh whatever
Mics are fine as long as you can disable them
Mine allows you to rotate it into the up position and the mic cuts off
yea sure but extra parts that cost more/points that could break etc.
Fair
Usually tho all these chips have integrated mic adcs and you just need to attach a capsule or mems module to them
It's a dollar of parts and 2$ of extra cost at a base
Then the boom and hall effect sensor are an extra $4
The expensive bit is the wireless bit
And the dac
And batteries
what about the space it takes up on the inside of the shells, my thought it could maybe be limiting some options if they need to add a mic
or is that tiny enough by now
ok and then just some small cable or w/e connects it in the earcup to the rest?
just didnt know if there might be something im not thinking of that could be taking up space
Nah mostly they just throw it on the PCB and drill a hole in the case
alright guess its just preference for me then that wont matter if I cant get a non mic option
If you have a fancy headset they have 4 or 5 of these on a PCB that is in the periphery of the case
See airpods pro, wh1000xm, Bose qc
But the more problematic thing is that epos doesn't really try to make consumer products
They are just keeping their old Sennheiser products around and making stuff to compete with the jabras and the plantronics
well I would be happy if there would be keeping the old sennheiser stuff around and not the new-old ones
Well
Get rekt
Quality products are punished these days
The longer between replacements the lower the revenue
Ok my first impressions of battery life are not great
1 hour of charging for 15 minutes of usage?
I think I'll need to replace the batteries lol
Oh geez
Sennheiser says 16 hours of charging for 8 hours of use
That's pretty bad
ayo whats the thing i download to get all the access to the keyboards stuff
That depends. Wooting keyboard owner or Fortnite enthusiast on another brand's board?
keyboard owner
I am absolutely malding
why is raspberry GPIO always causing problems when I try to do shit with it
script runs just fine, except when I try to open it with cron, then GPIO just seems to not work
it works now
and I got no clue what I changed

the worst
this is so unbelievably dumb honestly
what part of it
It’s only on new cars so makes sense by 2035
the part where most of europe still heavily relies on fossil fuels for electrical energy generation
which is planned to be changed on the same date
now it's very likely neither will happen and 2035 is quite late anyway
it just looks very funny that they constantly talk about evs and germany gives up on nuclear
well we have enough solar and wind that could cover it without that
if we stop having idiots that slow down both sectors
not a very good excuse, nuclear energy can be exported to countries that can’t afford to get renewable energy somehow
meh, idiots are still gonna win
but we can do the same without nuclear?
we can produce a lot more than needed with solar/wind/hydro
There is no way it's happening by 2035. It's basically a way to throw more money at electric and hydrogen car industries.
was it really necessary to just shut down power plants and lose a lot of money in the process for that though?
if the money we put into nuclear would have been put into solar&co instead of more coal, we would have made profit even..
so it would have been not a loss of money if lobbyists wouldn't have fucked around
Coal peakers and gas powered cars are highly subsidized, the fewer they are subsidizing, the more money there is for building out the grid (for the EU replace coal with natural gas)
laughs in Denmark
And electric cars are highly efficient peaker plants using v2g
About 3x more efficient than coal
And that's without including the line losses that are reduced by having the energy much closer to the point of use
yup, if you were to look at coal plants as a business they would go bankrupt in no time without money from the government, unlike renewables in almost all situations
but hey, gotta allow the removal of an entire town and forest to get more coal, but wind turbines have to stay so far away you cant even see them or it could be annoying for people...
Never been hit by an windturbine wing i see
Also laws re based on old turbines up until now. New ones are far less loud
At least in good ol’ Germany
doesn't matter, söder still has his logic assbackwards with the dumb 10h rule
A wind turbine wing is visible and can pose a danger to for example 500 square meters
Radioactive chemicals are problematic for the entire watershed and are tough to track
And coal dust is almost visible but definetly ain't healthy for anyone in the nearby towns
take a guess what rule is still almost unchanged and what lobby funded it
Woow
as you can read from the way its worded it's written by the idiots who supported it instead of reasonable people
those were probably too ashamed to write an english text of it
guess where we are now 8 years later? they just got around adding some exceptions where it can be reduced to 1 kilometer away...
just makes me mad every time I think about it, how long we had the same idiots in power that just refuse to see logic and are still blocking it now that we have finally some (very slightly) less incompetent people in power
Infrasound is calculated wrong btw. Its dating back to a study, they jinxed it
Things will change, people are just busy nowadays, dont wanna get political and edgy, but mother russia seems to take some time off people’s days, as old ladies use to do.
oh sure and thats a fair point, but we had 8 years without putin going full on crazy where still nothing changed xD
Well that party still has to fight some interns lawsuits against lobbyism whoops
just a few xD
Hello! I have been working on this video for a few weeks to get this JUST RIGHT! This is the KatWalk C2, the newest VR omni-directional treadmill allowing you to walk, swim (sort of), Run, Jump, and ride horses within VR pushing immersion to the absolute extreme.
This is my review of the product, mind you I haven't had the chance to use it mor...
Maybe next we will get an Animus
Y tho, especially when the wifis might even be slower!
Brexit things? Imagine having a slower landline connection than mobile.
(Not to mention costs of mobile bandwidth of that scale)
Oh right there are countries where it's not unlimited
I think you'll find that no country has unlimited - There IS a fair use limit and if you try and torrent on it, you will found out fast 😄
True, I should start tethering more again and see where the limit is, there was a point where I was using hundreds of GiBs a month
Not just brexit
My wifi in Slovakia was wifi but it was by having 4G receiver
It was fastest and biggest limit
Even compared to cable in that village
Her workplaces dont have it and when they do its like 2mb/s
oof
mostly not a thing here
Most advertise this as a point now, no hidden caps or throttles.
Then there is Instagram App Store and discord
why not just show it all
gotta hide the 40gb tinder data
Personal hotspot 12.1 to other devices hmm
Maybe it counts MacBook as other device when connected by cable
Just 1.3 for it wouldn’t make sense
Ngl I am clueless what time period is “current period” referring to
scroll down
Oh it’s since 2016 lol
mine only shows a month
This is insanely common in the us
is current usage per month
doubt
Inside my house it's not faster but right outside it is for example
My home internet is 100/10
oh current is based on the last time you reset
so she has used around 10gb
this month
How disappointing
In the last week
I'm using this to monitor my roaming data usages
6gb data left
@ashen spindle https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/s95b-oled 1.13 ms so prob fw issues
she as in me mam
Aha
And right outside my house I get 5g that does 100 /30 easy
I'd I point it right it does 140/35
And closer to the tower I get 300/80
Last month xd
Hotspot????
Ye
Very hot
she uses it as her wifi at home
