the benefit from using a monitor that use a g sync module is that it also causes the monitor to have better quality bc it needs to hit standards and enable variable overdrive for example

Better quality components are always good, but I'm not actually sure if gsync is one of those 'use it and never go back' technologies.

because if you are in a frame range that would make use of variable overdrive, you'd also want to have g sync on, only one of them makes little sense when they are basically working on the same area
you dont need g sync if you are always above your monitors refresh rate and you also dont need variable overdrive in that case
but if you fall below you would want both (rare cases where one overdrive setting is best at all ranges which is almost never the case)

Optimally you never want your minimum fps going below your max refresh rate.
