@wheat plume it's nearly impossible to thermally kill your hardware these days. You're more likely to replace your gpu 10 times before thermal wear causes issues. Modern hardware pretty much all will do a (perfectly safe) thermal shutdown before any significant damage can be done if it runs too hot.

Harddrives need an occasional "run over" to keep the magnetic data fully intact. Leave a harddrive on a shelf for years, and you might see a bit of data loss.

SSDs don't normally have this issue due to how the logic gates work - HOWEVER if it's used for as long/much to pass its endurance rating, similar things start occuring. If the SSD is left shelved for a long time, the gates lose their states.

and then add alias upall="sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade && sudo apt dist-upgrade && sudo apt autoremove" and then save it and close and re-open your terminal

now you just need to type upall to update your system :D
