Just a bog standard mouse with top tier components and decent side buttons that doesn’t come with bloatware.
I’d buy.
unless you have a big brand behind it
aka 90% of what you get on aliexpress rn
boring FK clones
Kek
with decent components
for like
30€
market is absolutely flooded with FK and EC clones
that have decent specs
calder would not go for an OEM shell from what I know of him
which raises cost dramatically
Paid 65 Euros for the Naga X, completely not worth it, it should be 40 MSRP. To think it's 80 GBP/Euros MSRP. Had to take the grip from an old tennis racket and fashion it on the pinky rest to make it bearable to use. Still the best MMO mouse on the market because it's the only one without some stupid gimmick and a half decent weight.
Razer have definitely been treating their mice better than their keyboards, even if it's because they decided to just rip off Logitech
idk
wow ig
so you get another row of f keys essentially
idk
outdated game design
well
it is your shift bar

his worst video yet
"so you want ANC headphones, but you could also get cheap IEMs and an overpriced wireless adapter that lives in your pocket next to your phone"
you dont need an MMO mouse for FF14 but all 5 people I know that have one say it's just easier to play and more comfortable to use than rebinding keys etc.
but they also say if it were to break they would be fine without it
TIL this is how you are meant to wear earphones.....
Ive been doing it wrong this entire time
How do I get easyeffects to apply that profile on reboot?
Exactly.
Depends on the pair, tbh.
Some heaphones that're old can be great, some but not many.
And you need to be able to both find a pair for a reasonable price and afford it. Not the easiest of tasks for the nicer pairs.
it late and just received my cpu cooler do i install now
^^
does it ship to outside of europe now?
or will I have to wait 1234567890 years?
How can I get a fairphone in the US
Last I checked it was still Europe-only. I gave up on that and settled on a PinePhone which I don't recommend unless you love Linux. Other decent options are the Google Pixel which can't be repaired easily, I think OnePlus has some cheap options, and in general looking at used phones can be quite cheap assuming it's the cost you're after. If you want a repairable phone the only options I know of are the PinePhone and FairPhone.
arent all phones based on linux? besides apple
Android uses a fork of the Linux kernel so it is technically both Linux and not Linux.
Apple used a fork of BSD if I recall correctly.
Yeah, I just doublechecked. Apple is using a fork of BSD, Android is using a fork of Linux.
Apple used Darwin which was forked from BSD originally and IOS was forked from OSx which in turn was forked from Darwin.
Lots of forks.
Add enough forks and eventually you can't even call it the original.
FairPhone only ships within Europe.
$750 is still a lot for a phone.
Not really.
I guess if we say phone yea
I think the a series of Pixel phones are a couple hundred dollars cheaper right?
Once logistics kick in it's a little above what I'd consider good.
But if we say flagship then nah price is grear
A series is alot cheaper
But on the other hand it's not flagship
Pixel 6 pro w more features
I don't care about flagships, if I did I wouldn't have a PinePhone.
Also add to mix a ton of top tier phones cost close to $1000 or more
Which I really do not see how it can be justified if it does not fold
I just find phones over $500 to be expensive when I barely even use the device. It's just for me to send some messages, maybe do a couple calls and that's it.
Folding is the most supreme gimmick, ngl.
Ah fair enough den
Needs to be WAY improved.
Hey if it has a top tier soc, 5g, oled120hz, then 🤷♂️
I know other people use their phones for everything though in which case a $750 phone can be justified.
But they shove it down our throats
Depends on the usecase. Personally I read a LOT on my phone, the screen and battery are nut for that usecase. Nice sharp text with an OLED display?
I could do without any cameras, I think I've used mine twice in the last 4 years.
Or 1440p lcd
My phone has 4 top tier sensor modules and a throwaway one
Yeet the cameras, they're actually pointless on a phone. Slim that bitch down or put better sensors in for facial detection.
In that case, I'd say buying a $500+ phone can be justified. You actually use it a lot. In my case it just doesn't make sense.
Read books, books good. :p
Wut
Best camera is the camera you have
And uh
If that camera is actually capable? Even better
I read books physically. I prefer owning the physical book because I'm weird and enjoy the feel of paper, hardback books, and so on.
Fair enough.
In today's time I guess it makes sense
I far prefer digital. Makes just carrying them around better.
I understand why reading things digitally is popular though. It's far more convenient.
Sure but do you even use the camera for anything?
Taking pictures sure, but do you really seriously need the camera bar on the new Pixel, for example?
I don't use my camera on my phone for anything, I even disabled it with the dip switch and disconnected it from the motherboard. I had to leave it in though just to make it so that there wasn't an awkward hole in the top.
Microscope, monocular, and actually taking pictures
How often is anyone taking photos on a phone that need a great camera? That's the most counter intuitive nonsense in human history. If you're a serious enough photographer that you need something better...
Bruh.
I prefer using an actual dedicated camera.
Why are you even using a phone then? Even a tiny actual camera is going to spank the shit out of a phone.
That's a 1mm by .6mm smd
Ah but it wont
It really super will.
In almost every single case it will.
Tiny camera have limitations
I've only ever seen extremely niche cases where, without editing, the phone wins because of post-processing. Throw the camera's picture into some editing software and it wins.
And they'll still be better than a phone just because of the lens distance.
Again microscope and telescopic
Anything even remotely expensive (going anywhere past $300 AUD) is going to absolutely ruin a phone.
Ngl that usecase doesn't seem like the thing you'd use a phone for, fixing micro components.
fair phone will probably start shipping to other countries when they build another thing thing there
That's more of a 'use a tool for it' moment.
Ultra wide is better in my opinion and can do double duty
Use an ultrawide that can macro
the phone cameras are very good for their size but still wont beat a proper sized sensor
This.
Sensor size and lens distance play the biggest factor.
You just need a lens for the use case.
Find a microscope with a 12mp flagship tier sensor
just use a sem
Most of the magic is software
...
But the real reason phone cameras are so good is because you can use filters and send it to Snapchat
Who uses Snapchat?
My guy, the sensor... no microscopes don't have a 12MP camera, but that isn't the point, yes?
A microscope doesn't record things with a sensor.
Probably nobody anymore they killed the android audience and Instagram just pulled up and snatched them all
Imagine using social media.
These days you get a digital microscope
Not all the time! I've actually managed to come across a fair few use cases that it really isn't needed.
Usually when you aren't professional.
But hey, if you're doing something for profession you should probably be using really nice equipment if you can.
Yes but a digital microscope is better for your neck
The customer is always the risk of a karen.
Electron microscope
And a digital conversion kit is the cost of a phone and a $20 bracket
...
A phone with a 12MP camera being... how much remind me?
Between 500 and a grand or something, aye? (AUD)
Point being if you're doing component level repair for any reasonable amount of time it's probably a pretty worthwhile investment.
And a decent microscope for that job is a couple hundred or so.
And WAY better than a phone (which is both less good and more expensive) and an adapter.
If I'm repairing a $200 nic it's cheaper for me to actually just buy the nic on eBay than to buy a microscope and fix it
Not really.
Budget option is maybe 200 AUD.
Which is 140 USD.
Note also you'd have a good tool to fix future component death.
And hey, maybe the chip you need is between $10 and $50 or so.
Ah but my time is worth something
And I'd also need a new component tester because my multimeter can't see this cap
Indeed. Save time by having good tools if you're already going to do the job?
Actually how much is a component tester?
Can be more useful than that
The camera that is square with mirrors in a phone
You could use it to take a picture of where you cannot go, but landscape is not the best word unless if vegetation is very abundant
Some areas are protected or I do not think anybody want to jump into the Grand canyon
Anyways my phone goes from 16? to 110 mm physically (35mm equivalent)
If only super resolution algorithms were present on phones would make more use of multiple cameras
And my phone is smaller and lighter than every single one of my lenses
Even the cheapest Canon kit crap
Have you considered gcam?
Yeah even on a camcorder a picture of a moon looks so good zoomed into even in digital
Ah shoot the moon isn't out tonight
What you wanted to become a wolfman tonight?
I could show you what a phone can do
Oh interesting
Here's a pic I took of the moon a few nights ago
Just a question
You do not have a Huawei phone which pulls internet images and then gives you it as the shot taken of a moon?
This was a few nights before that when the moon was red for some reason
Discord compression really doesn't make the pictures look good.
Nope
See the first image? That was me testing it
Sure but these are waaaaaaay better than any camera I've owned can do
Hmm can you upload that to google photos for a second?
The problem is that you need 300mm equivalent
And those lenses are suuuuuper expensive
Attached to my real name :/
Ah nevermind
Still looks alright, acceptable with how much distance it looks to be from you
If your infinity focus is calibrated well it should just work
Let's put it this way
My phone can outperform my eye at everything but speed
It can see smaller, zoom further, and record better
It can see better at night too
And this is actually tough
Because if you have too large a sensor it will move too much for you to be able to take a clear image
This is about what I see compensated
This is what my phone can make out
And this doesn't have a tripod
The big problem with large cameras (DSLR or milc) is that they cant stabilize for shit
Hence why I see people carrying tripods
Long exposures require a tripod with a full size camera
Easy as that
But that's not true for a cellphone
Actually eh
A good cellphone
Yeah software can somewhqt compensate
But if you want a non blurry or messy photo still a tripod is good for phone long exposure
No not even software compensation
I mean actually how phones do long exposure
Gcam will take sequences of images then composite them in software
Oh
Digital cameras will physically expose the sensor for that period of time
It can be made a lot harder with motion photos as well
Yup but ibis doesn't really help with long exposures :/
I've seen comparisons
Like don't get me wrong a proper milc or DSLR will slaughter a phone in many circumstances
But the problem is that I have a phone on me now
And my very tiny camera weighs 6 pounds because of my microscopic collection of lenses
And God you have no idea how expensive close focusing lenses are
Fuck I just totalled it
If I spend any more money on my camera I'll have spent more on it than on my phone
And only 2 out of my 5 lenses support autofocus
thankyou for comming to my ted talk
This would be a great way to introduce edgy teens to coding
no
yes
Japanese user YunaYun64 on twitter got a Steam Deck developer kit and is the first one to post footage of attempting to plug in an Index HMD and show it working
And it has only begun!
Neat
My buddy is still talking about getting one. He had one reserved and I hope he can because I'll fuck around with it and see if I wanna buy one next batch
What's that video from?
Calder was on Toms a few weeks ago talking about Wooting and the 60HE
And got a bit of a grilling on analog in practice in games 😄
Is it worth watching if it's from Toms though?
You won't find any new information if you're from the Discord.
One of the few drawbacks, I guess
we did get infos why theres no pink wooting

3D printing a PCB was the main part of the video that caught my attention. It sounds so interesting!
Mhm, but in the video they said that some 3D printers can heat to over 300 degrees Centigrade and 3D print PCBs.
I looked into it later and they weren't joking, it's an actual thing.
Woah
Hopefully we can also print components soon, finally, a solution to the shortage
and 100 euro per kg of powder and up
Not sure about the high-end 3D printers but the lower end ones use a metal/plastic mix to make the circuitry which is less electrically conductive than pure metal traces.
Actually there are some with the capability of 3D printing PCBs that are only $1000.
They just use cheaper materials and are more limited in size.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sintering#Sintering_of_metallic_powders
Not the ones which work with metal directly.
Sintering or frittage is the process of compacting and forming a solid mass of material by heat or pressure without melting it to the point of liquefaction.
Sintering happens naturally in mineral deposits or as part of a manufacturing process used with metals, ceramics, plastics, and other materials. The atoms in the materials diffuse across the...
I know, like I said above they use the cheaper materials. One of them is a material mixed with graphene so it's electrically conductive but not as much as metals. Mostly good for prototyping with the cheap printers, the big ones are if you want actual production-ready PCBs.
Multi head printing.
Graphene? Other than great performance in the lab it has yet to show its use for the cost
Not like your inkjet printer is printing one colour at a time either, or the plumbing would clog and mix up for weird hues.
Remember to get a hardend nozzle with reinforced filament :) brass is pretty soft
Graphene was used in a mixture with other materials to make it conductive but it's far more common to make a weird mix of other materials to get the same effect.
Charcoal finely ground up not enough?
There are various conductive filaments available today. For 2D prints, the most commonly used material is ink containing a metal such as silver. As well as this, conductive variants of most filaments exist, such as ABS, PLA, HIPS, or TPU. These filaments contain graphene, which allows them to conduct electricity, although not as well as metals.
https://all3dp.com/2/pcb-3d-printer-all-about-3d-printed-circuit-boards/
Marketing.. wait.. is it technically containing graphene? A pencil is technically making graphene
I was mostly just quoting this article.
What is the resistivity of the filament anyway?
I actually don't know, the article doesn't say unfortunately.
The cheaper 3D printers for PCBs use filaments with graphene or ink that has silver in it. The more expensive ones do actual metal traces.
I wouldnt even bother if electroplate coating would be adequete. Might serve as base to stick the copper/silver/other metal to 🤔
even then you need multi nozzle machines
I just thought the technology was really interesting and that I'd share.
I feel like PCB prototyping would be extremely good with the cheaper printers. Yes, they require multiple nozzles but they would be extremely good for quickly making board changes and arriving at a final version faster than waiting for production somewhere in the world and shipping.
You can do it all in with one nozzle, but do have to deal with lots of purging of the filament and loading, changing temp potentially. Somewhere in the 50% would be just to purge the material iirc
Worth noting as well that it's possible to 3D print the PCB and do the traces with a separate machine or by hand if you so desired.
Can do some light cnc work if you have the know how
You just have to leave trenches for the traces.
Just dont hope to cut steel :)
Well with 3D printing there is no CNC work required. Just put trenches in the model being printed and it'll leave trenches for you.
Can do both ;)
we're getting there!! #Rust #GTK #GNOME

Use libpanel for grid/layout
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-builder/-/issues/1...
Maybe I should learn Rust
For the controller there is no absolute difference, all it knows is move motors and read sensors. Add or remove material 🤷 that is up to the realworld with the toolhead to deal with
Rust is a really good language, just don't tell Richard Stallman that you want to learn it or he will give you a lesson on free software.
Hmm, reminds me that the gcode for cnc and 3d printing differ in meaning but not sure.
oh, and make sure the slicer doesnt make too much short movements after eachother enforcing some minimal distance. Helps with arcs and curves mostly
Pinch, I thought WordPress was a meme but it's actually based.
Lazy web development, plugins let you use any payment processor, and it's cheap. Perfect for someone lazy like me.
Just avoid Paypal is all I can say for sure
Mhm! That's why I refused to use Square and Squarespace. They technically allow me to open a store in Iceland but only if I used PayPal exclusively which is a horrible idea.
Would rather deal with direct bank transfers than paypal
The goal was to have a website provider that is:
1.) Cheap
2.) Has options for payment processors and doesn't force PayPal
3.) Is reasonable and ideally doesn't skim more money off the top of every transaction
In the case of WordPress it's dirt cheap and it lets me use basically any payment processor, many of which support Icelandic businesses. It also doesn't force user tracking on my website and doesn't skim money off the top of purchases.
😎 If it works and client aint complaining
If there are bugs I can fix them myself Pinch! It's open-source too! 😄
Nah Rust is the end all be all language, eventually everything will be rewrittten in it and it'll make all software finally perfect and not suck
rust succ
rust is c++ but we focused on memory safety and being usable for everything
so rust is a language that literally does it all, from hardware to web dev
Memory management aint too hard, keep those pointers in check :)
ah not memory management. memory safety, rust is inherently memory safe and you have to try to mess it up (and even then likely won’t). it does have memory management if you like that though
But I like subtly clobbering memory without even realizing it only to have it bite me way down the line
it is also an absolutely unwieldy shape
and weighs about twice as much as a mouse it's size and volume should weigh
even if you don't try to make it lightweight
yeah i thought that
it is like 189g or something
not to mention that it took them ages to use even a somewhat recent sensor
haha yeah
but what mouse would be the best mouse currently?
still the G PRO X Superlight?
there is no "best mouse"
comes down to what you want
might be the gpx for you
might be the razer viper ultimate
might just be the viper mini as well
finalmouse sl12 is good as well buy bs to get
I personally prefer the cox cm600 over my other mice
but it is a pain to get and is kinda odd in general
logi g502 has stayed consistently good since it’s not meant to be light, a lot of other similar mice are well regarded
I always liked my gladius II Origin
I now have a Rival 710 and idk it's so incredibly meh
logitech still has a distinct advantage with free scroll mousewheel
ah
you mean what the basilisk v3 has
but worse

still don't see the point in it though
suuuuper niche use case
and worse than drag scrolling in 9/10 cases
OS makes sure that memory is never violated
Even gives a nice segmentation error to tell ya about it, (core dumped)
what about gladius 3
looks like shit now
I dont know?
Bruh
asus designers got inspired by 90s cars
Agree
and now everything looks washed round
it has about 2 use cases: 40+ page pdfs, and breaking videogames
drag scrolling is better for pdfs
faster and more accurate
and you can "break" few games with it
page up and down 👀
those that you can just make a macro for it
If I get a cheap ass wifi card just to get its antenne, will those antenne be as good as the one that came with my motherboard?
macros are usually banned
cause the one withj my motherobard has a wire and just sits on my computer
Larger antenna are better at receiving signals in general
how does a game know if it is a macro or a physical wheel spinning
if the input comes from the mouse
physical size?
Also I'm kinda
Falchoin keyboard is sooo sick
repeatability and consistency
if macros are banned so should be "physical macros"
physical spin has drag
physical spin activates at every possible interval

you only can activate every so often
and even then
what games do you break
that have safeguards for things like that
borderlands 2 breaks really nicely
does not have macro detection
or even bans macros
since you know
singleplayer game
As long as the wavelength and antenna length are matching at some semi-tone but: external antenna > pcb antenna. More power to allow signal detection and generation
so does any shooter where semi auto uses mouse clicks and has a max fire rate, scroll wheel saves your hand from carpal tunnel
speed running does though
The one that came with my motherboard is external but its attached to a long cable that plugs into the back of the computer so I need to rest it ontop of the computer
I want to get the ones that just plug into the back directly
then the rules are
just like in minecraft
hardware abuse and software abuse should be equally bannable
you don't actively press the button by spinning a wheel really quick
the only game that allows a macro for that kind of thing is Doom, where the rate at which you spin the wheel actually affects the outcome so they just made a macro to make it fair
if I was in such a community I would comically abuse it until it gets banned
aka
make a giant flywheel
with an optical encoder attached
and activate the LED on it with a foot pedal or something
borderlands is frame rate limited/game speed limited (and it’s mostly for carpal tunnel prevention since you can achieve the same result from a mouse click or dual binds)
attach a fast mcu
and make 4k button presses a second
why are dual binds allowed
but not macros
still bs
cause the game allows them
also have fun until shitty drag click lords get to it
clicking at 50+ clicks per second
dual binds as in bind 2 buttons to the same action
coming from a game that doesn't recognize more than 7 a second
point stands
hardware abuse should be as bannable as software abuse
Try and see if it works, most important metric is amount of corrections/requests to resend you get. Reliability is the metric. The photons still go at the speed of light :)
I just swapped my antenne with the ones that dont have a wire my friend has and my connection is a lot slower
its just two antennea connected to the mobo ports
and its down to the same speed my mobile hotspot has
the other thing is, the hardware just allows the glitch to be performed more consistently or easier. not any true advantage since the actual speed limit in the game at that point is the enemy spawn timers
Not sure if impedance would be relavent.. impedence matching is fun
i tell myself
🤔
same with software though?
If not mentioned I assume it to be standard and non-relevent for wifi antenna
sure? macros are mostly banned for sequencing purposes, not repeatability purposes
so why ban macros that just repeat a keypress
if you made a macro that performed at the same speed as the free scroll mouse wheel nobody would care
and what hinders me from making a hardware sequencer to press buttons
ah
the macro rule also bans that
Why dont everyone use macros if it so OP?
in DOOM they required people use a macro with set timings for their version of the free scroll trick
you can also have the macros the other players are using, software baby
so nobody had an advantage or disadvantage
the general idea of the rules is that anything that is simply repeated presses of the same key is free scrollable but something like a menuing macro would be banned
so why do you need scroll wheels
if a macro that imitates the inputs of a scrollwheel would be ok
the other thing the free scroll hardware does is limit you to only 2 inputs on that wheel at once
so if you want to do 3 things at that speed, no can do
also, in the multiplayer speed runs it facilitates one of the more clever tricks where you drop 20 fake copies of the gun you’re holding
I would let macros be, use em if you think its the meta. Any setup can be copied by others if they want to.. :)
the general rule is one button press = one in game input
which is pretty fair
the wooting multi actuation point macros kinda break that rule? so idk if they’d be allowed
Especially at professional level with all the hardware made identical 🤷 The crowd wants the best gamers in the competition
the other reason scroll wheels are allowed is since you can do it non free scroll, it’s just harder
which is bs
forces you to use certain hardware
"just build the giant flywheel that can input a 4k inputs a second"
"just write a software that can do the inputs for you"
although those are both less intrusive in how you play the game ig
nah, there are categories which don’t use it, and also have you ever seen a bl2 speedrun? game’s busted
Its most interresting when the rules are more lax for me. More adapting strategies and scene.
yeah, the scroll thing dates back to hl2 bhops
As long as anyone can do the same, it is all fair game to me
yes
anyone can write the macro, build the flywheel and buy the g502 as much as the next one can
i think most games where it’s permitted, it’s not the thing that actually makes the speedrun work
Exploits would be fine, if anyone can use it and isnt some instant win kind of deal
that’s why DOOM requires a macro, since it’s what makes the speedrun so fast
not using it is an instant disadvantage
same reason some games are ran with an fps cap
not having a free spinning scrollwheel does in bl2
unless you wanna get health issues
not really a compromise
🤷 They choose to not do the macro, they lost fair and square. *if they had the opportunity
you could argue that TAS is legal for normal runs with that logic
nope. movement and spawn timers is what makes or breaks that run.
so mouse choice should be irrelevant
%any
you can also do it by spamming buttons (some people do)
so you either use a stupid method, a method that risks your health or use a mouse that you don't wanna use but are kinda forced to
nice
you can also use a normal mouse wheel
Some people do that kind of random things
the game only allows a certain amount of inputs per tick
so over some number it doesn’t matter
just makes it more comfortable
aka the whole feature is useless
i use free scroll more for textbook pdfs
Also keep in mind that professional level/athletes is the only place it would matter enough to bother
aka
holding mmb and dragging your mouse
but worse
well yes
but the people that make the rules are the ones that abuse it
Having a computer also assists in the situation
until someone takes the stupidity of the rules to a peak
no that is required
That is not a if, but when
yes
aka
the giany flywheel
inputting stuff at superhuman speeds
but you started turning it with your own power
so it is completely legal
ig
You would have to sacrifice the ability to more finely tune with macros, and a button which could have done another task instead. I guess so long as the input are initiated by the players. Someone has to choose to the end result
I want a new desk, my current one is awful
Mine is a ikea desk but it's a curved corner desk
I want a L shaped desk
Would need to limit aimbot, wallhacks and the like though, bots can keep doing that. Hmm, probably for its nature to remove any skill and ending up with two scripts playing against eachother, taking the tactics, outsmaring and whatnot out of the game. Those tend to be the exciting moments in pro gaming for me
Make one
Indeed and while you are at it make society 2 it really needs a sequel
this is literally a thing people do in cs go, hack vs hack
I managed to get my grubby hands on a brand new Nintendo Switch OLED Model for some first impressions. That screen is a BEAUT.

Worth noting that there are still arguments between people that claim C is better than C++ and vice versa. Zig is another language similar to Rust that focuses on memory safety but is more akin to C. Unfortunately it isn't at version 1.0 yet but I think it will be nice to have a language that is essentially a new C++ and another language which is essentially a new C.
And I still am keeping an eye on Zig

Rust is a good language but it has the same issue that C++ has: you struggle to read other people's code in a lot of cases. I prefer C solely due to the readability of the language and how easy it is for other developers to come along and understand your code.
I just want to try this simple looking TUI app whoops it just took forever to compile and ate a whole goddamn GiB of storage
But Rust would be a great addition to the Linux kernel! Finally something to make my computer blow up!
Wont show you Mars then, wont be too impressive then ;(
Best is when a dependent crate somewhere uses a native library except an old incompatible version and I'm not even sure how to get started patching that
I have issues with Rust as a language, I'm waiting for Zig to reach the 1.0 release and then I'll learn the language since it is literally a drop-in memory-safe C replacement.
Rust is a good language, don't get me wrong, but it has issues. Centralised repositories is one that bothers me.
Have you heard about the magic of #DEFINE and \ preprocessor go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I have! Zig completely removes #DEFINE, pre-processor macros and other stuff that makes code hard to read.
Zig got that comptime magic yo
Ill place them in the middle of the code then, without any comments why the numbers are what they are, great for larger projects and causing huge headaches for production to deal with :)
Just stole this from the Zig website.
They bound to forget to edit every magic variable eventually.. 😈
The fact that Zig supports so many architectures so easily is really appealing to me.
It might actually give me a reason to get a development machine that runs Power9 or RISC-V.
Also actually caring about being bootstrappable
I just need to keep an eye on their development surrounding other architectures. Some are working fine while others are in a rough spot right now. I think 1.0 will have all of them working though.
The OS already gracefully guides your error to the error message
which caused it to drop the process core dumped :)

I always knew you were sus.
Walt, you seeming kinda sus lately..
Nobody says they are the least sus unless they are the most sus.
You see, the imposter would be looking for someone to put their suspicious on. Crewmates do tasks..
take a seat Walt we are voting red first
Evidence speaks for itself, doesnt it
Believe it or not, I never played Among Us.
I was too busy doing C to play the game
Turns out the compiler didnt lie
It is always correct
C is better than C++.
Embedded microprocessors might ignore your instructions 🤷 because it just hates working the first time
Pinch I'm starting to think that I'm an idiot. In the future if I ever started making PCBs I'm thinking I'd use SiFive's RISC-V processors.
Once couldnt read a floating variable because it didnt have expliicitly defination of 0
128 bits integers are required! refuses to eleborate - client
I was more so thinking that with SiFive's RISC-V processors you can specify exactly what you need for an MCU or something else and get a processor which is capable of exactly what you need.
They actually have the E31 and E34 which are intended for specifically signal processing and are intended for use as an MCU.
Don’t think you can combine different cores yet though. Also the price would probably be… and possibly lot less pre made software too
E-mail with random usecase with vague details follows on monday 🤷 Yea.. had one that wanted to keep the algorithm secret and in software :)
It ended, cant program what I dont know lmao
Unfortunately you can't combine cores but the cost is relatively comparable to ARM, or at least through what I have seen. I could be wrong and maybe RISC-V is more than 3x more expensive, I don't know, it's been a long time since I last checked.
Imagine learning C to one day learn about some magic algorithm to yoink
I mean, especially coat of custom risc soc vs of shelf arm.
ARM and RISC-V processors are good for MCUs though assuming you are pushing the electronics to their limit with 8000hz and such.
OS can deal with that mess
I just think that RISC-V has one major advantage over ARM which is the ability to specify the exact amount of cache you need, whether or not the debug console is easy to access or requires a password, what kind of cache you want, how many floating points you need and so on.
You can tailor it to your exact needs which is nice but I'm sure the customisation would cost a lot more than a standard ARM CPU.
Interrupts are the magic thing, maybe.. dont want to have interrupt enabled when doing multi-core/threaded workloads
things get wacky
Interrupts are a little.. instant
Atleast with AVR they do
They aren't on any ooe cpus
😈 Function stacks might be getting real wacky
That is where you use have global interrupt enable to get it to chill sometimes
Dont forget to have interrupts enabled when sleeping. Else it wont turn on any longer
Reset or the programmer can fix the oopsy luckly hehe
FPGAs would be more the solution for those kind of needs
overengineered calculator
Technically it’s all just binary calculators
Computer does not want to detect my calculator so I can’t install doom on it 😦
Subtraction is the only instruction needed for turing complete algorithms
That's an odd laptop
Ohh. It's a ps4
Ye xD
Shiny
Couldn't recognise it till you posted the fan.
A real fan of fans
Afraid to open my PS3 and see what's inside. Or how bad the situation is with the dead BD drive and cracked shell.
Turn that frown upside down
Ugh... Might as well replace the entire fan unit. And drop the entire case and motherboard in IPA
Dang smoke tar and shit
Even the controller was pretty poo but I only paid £120 back in 2018
Its alright these days
Better than early models of the xbox 360 :)
actually in the right channel now
phew glad i remembered the fuckin shortcut for help section
yet again i beseech thee and question if i shall get a b100 or g502 until my g100s is fixed
the usb connector
Oof
You can use a b100 cable in it
yes

Had that happen on a viper ultimate

They use an SMD plug for sidebuttons
And the plug sits tighter than the soldered connection
horrible death
i just soldered in new chinese shit aswell
like literally
disassembled it for new switches
disassembled the entire shell to get all the grime off
wanted to reassemble
went in buttery smooth
mouse no work
disassembled
connector borked
Just buy some g90 from aliexpress
They cost 15€ each
Same mouse as g100s
Besides color and skates
Which you don't even use
pads ripped
Oof
welp
almost 8yrs of service
for 20bucks
no 30
if i count the omrons
what switches come on the chinese g90
so imma replace em immediately
still unsure about the aliexpress jap omrons
most of them either have the definite wrong pic
or confusing article names
imma hope for a distrib to get some back in stock
They should be named as d2f-01f
they are
but also mention tons of other omron models
the pic is of some random chinese one
and then idk what it is
g90 it is
first b100 till i get em
Apparently could install Tetris, chess, doom, Pokémon crystal and many other games on mine
But only have old MacBook Air for some time with me and it refuses to detect it smh
Super
@wheat plume prob still runs better than yours
nope! cause that motherboard is custom build and useless outside of this specific case
Dell?
HP
was about to say
Not surprised

$1430
lol
idk why tf the 3060 is cheaper
dont question just buy product
As I said, super
timelessly shit
Indeed
Alienware have a neat GPU support thingy
thats the best thing I can say about this computer though
seriously you need a get a live twitter/blog going for your youtube blogging
Not looking the best though tbh. Most GPU supports don’t even though some mounted next to mobo can look pretty good.
Ahh, eye bleach <3
My biggest regret is not getting white ram
Which ones
GPU.

Tho the have their limits sadly
I knew there was something off
Looking back at old pics and just realised my cooler pipes are not as clean xD
I can't fix it till. Tomoz
I'm triggered
i thought ur biggest regret is 30series rtx card
which is why u hide the number behind cables
that was both a shitty price and a good price for the GPU
shitty because it should have never been 800 quid, but good because you'd probably be paying 1000 or more otherwise
I’ve made enough crypto to buy about 9 GPUs so far. :p

wait so u can buy a SE for me
dont need to pay 300eur myself
Need windows to get Pokémon or super Mario on my calculator 😦
You can use boot camp lol
Not simple on a most likely pre 2010 MacBook Air with most keys on kb not working, trackpad barely usable…
Bruh
It’s just basically non usable for anything. You can’t use keyboard and barely can input anything with trackpad, and since I also don’t have mouse and kb with me yet…
I find it ironic you an apple fanboy that bought almost every PC part minus gpu due to inflation did not get it fixed.
My pc works just don’t have it with me
My mom sometimes needs to restart my pc in belgium, as it hangs itself from time to time and she mentions it when friends are over 😁 so I did this
No more complaining 😋 😋
Also I am for sure an apple fan but would not say a fanboy. Also my pc experience is not that bad. Sometimes can help others with pc issues I have never had, just most of my issues…
My new 11900k just died. My ram sometimes behaves lot better on lower timings. Just how?
what, a fangirl then?
A fan grill. No more dust.
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CASELABS IS BACK!
Big hardware news this week! CaseLabs is returning to life, excitingly. Additionally The Valve Steam Deck got more details and NZXT now has an H510 Flow case.

The new owner is working on getting things running.
Oh I am so ready for caselabs. Wanted something from them for ages. :D
Hmm.
How much are we thinking they'll cost? Fuckloads of demand for them since they're caselabs and even before caselabs couldn't produce many cases at once.
Probably a few grand initially.
why does it hang itself tho... no suicide pcs in my vicinity
Occasionally it shares a room with a macbook
oh understandable then
Can you use a banks authentication app on a tablet to approve an online purchase?
Because you don't have a smartphone
Try and see 🤷
banks dont all use the same app so how are we supposed to know

How remove the keyboard language thing on the taskbar? I only have one language pack installed
does it only show you one when you click on it?
My keyboard is us layout
so fix your language settings and it wont show up if you really only have 1 left
It is the only one
You add the languages and keyboard layouts that show up in the taskbar, then remove them
Or just don't bother because sooner or later they'll come back to haunt you
.-. that's backwards
idfk what that menu even is never seen that one lol
Windows 11
Daamn 12 already
That language bar has been there since XP as long as you have chosen more than one keyboard layout in Windows.
An interface language includes a keyboard layout unless you head into control panel again and clean up.
CaseLabs is coming back and Wolfgang released a new video? Today is awesome! 😄

Ohh
That guy!
Gentoo install ASMR guy xd
The long-awaited rework of my 2018 ASMR video is finally here! This time with binaural sound, a new CPU and in glorious 4K.
I cut out most of the long compilation segments, (as well as me stumbling through menuconfig), the installation itself took about 10 hours (including time for a sleep break). I used menuconfig this time instead of genkernel...
Long ass video description and no parts list.
2/10
"JuSt dO YOuR OWn pArT lIsT"

He is the definition of a distribution hopper. Not too long ago he did a video on why he was switching to Mac, then his next video was corebooting a Thinkpad T430 in the forest and using Linux on it.

He has also swapped between PopOS, Slackware, Debian, BSD, MacOS, and more in a single video before.
Can't remember which one it was but it was quite interesting.
O.o
Lies, it cannot be the perfect home server build
So... Where do I suggest new distros? Cause we gotta get him to install AmogOS
Yes xd
He's done 3 home server builds if I remember right, this one included of course.
They normally have a lifespan of around 6 months, then he explains why the last one was a terrible idea and makes a new one.
One of them was a laptop motherboard retrofitted into a NAS.
O.o
I mean as long as each build improves from the last... xD
The whole "So what have we learned?" part of Tech youtube is very rare.
Wolfgang is weird. His Mac video was complaining about how heavy old ThinkPads are, nothing else competes, etc. and then the next video he explains why he will never leave old ThinkPads behind.
Compiler compiling the new compiler

I just love how he's self-aware but continues doing stuff that way anyway.
Around a year ago he made a video on why Distribution hopping is a giant waste of time and despite that he distribution hops almost every video.
Yep xd
Running a ponzi scheme and admitting scamming my audience (as a millionaire)
I found the TechLead viewer.
nah
I just realised that without knowing any better I bought a Corsair AX850 Titanium power supply and somehow, without knowing anything, it is apparently one of the best PSUs for ripple, safeguards, and overclocking.

At the time of building this PC I bought some of the better overclocking parts on the market such as the motherboard and RAM. To be honest I just sorted power supplies by 80 Plus rating which I now know thanks to Gamers Nexus that it is NOT a way to determine which power supply you should buy.
I am actually extremely happy that I accidentally got a good power supply. Looking at the box it's safe for use in all countries by just replacing the power cord. That's huge if I ever decide to move.
Most (decent) power supplies are like that
Proper switching power supplies with feedback.
Took you that long to type that out huh

Total Cost: 755 Euros (The US and UK keyboard layouts don't have Euros or I'm dumb)
Yes I re-watched parts of the videos numerous times to get the parts. Couldn't tell if you actually wanted the parts list or not.
I didn't actually want the parts list. I was scoffing at how the MAIN thing you'd want in the damn video description was the fucking thing he was building, not what monitor arm he uses 😛
Well, I potentially wasted a good 5 extra minutes. Oh well, maybe someone else wants them.

He tends to forget to put a parts list so it's quite common for him to make a video like that, get backlash in the comments asking for a list, and then he creates one.
its so stupid geforce now stopped supporting 144hz
Wait what?
during the beta test
But why?
it supported higher resolutions and refresh rate
I guess they are cutting that back so that they have more resources for more people to play games?
Companies love money.
Mansen I have a question about Case Labs. I've heard of them, I've heard nothing but good things about them, but they were out of business before I built my PC. Weren't they mostly custom water cooling cases due to being huge?
Might be thinking of the wrong company.
Started watching the Gamers Nexus video and they were an expensive, American-made case manufacturer known for their quality, modularity, and high prices. Regardless, their cases look awesome so if they come back I may purchase one if I have a use case for it.
I unfortunately don't know the struggle. I only own 1080p monitors.
LCD scaling that isn't exactly double looks terrible.
Something something FSR/DLSS
Gotta have that4:1 pixel accurate scaling
That would probably look weird due to the video artifacts
(I was continuing my FSR/DLSS thought)

Nothing unusual. You see super short ones that go from one rack to the one above everywhere in servers.
patch cables
Terminate your own micro cable. :D
I love server rack cable management.
I did this when we setup a new office
Got moaned at
But don't regret it
Wish I could find the pics xD
Are those Dell?
psus look like dell
:-)
rip ears
It's not awful, but I need to get something better/a sound dedining box.
I need to start making my own ethernet cables again
That sounds painful. Having to twist all the pairs and make sure they actually meet the specs.
pepelaugh
making cables isn't hard
currently watching a woman very high on stims in the underground
welcome to moscow friends
That is why they wont be up to spec. 😎
Crimping tool for them is cheap atleast
Who cares about making it to spec anyway so long as it works it's good enough
welcome to Moskow...comrade
and seriously, welcome to a lot of of city life
when will the wooting 2 he realese
Soon
Technically it was released a while ago. There's just no stock of it atm. 😄
But to answer your question in a SINGLE channel (please don't crosspost), depending on when you ordered you're either in Batch 1 or 2 and that determines when your board arrives. 🙂
Actually the city I live in has very few people like that unless you are in the bad part of the city. It's easy to stumble upon by accident but it's often quite far out of the way.
I know most cities are quite bad though. If I lived a tiny bit more South the entire city is depressing. Homeless people everywhere (I don't hate homeless people, just saying that it makes the city look grungy and hints that the city may have underlying issues), needles on the sidewalks and streets, constant fights. It's bad.
I mean...yeah, avoid the sketchy elements
of course, the sketchy elements can come to you as well
Can't even enter a mall there without walking past at least 10 people that are using needles.
At least you're positive about it. I can tell by the extremely enthusiastic "woooo".
Mine was sarcasm, yes.
so was my statement
I know.
honestly though, every city will have a bad area
it's life
just stick to the better areas
I think it has something to do with population. The smaller the city I visit the less bad parts there are and the cleaner the entire city seems to become.
Definitely isn't solely based on population but it's likely a factor.
yeah
hahaha fun fact
it's a piece of the puzzle regardless
I used to help homeless people by buying them food when my shift was over but then I started noticing homeless groups popping up. It would be 10-50 people all over the city with the exact same clothes, sign, bible, and so on asking for money. Since that started around the time the pandemic started I haven't trusted anyone.
privileged kids do drugs too, something about being hip and fashionable
They were groups pretending to be homeless just to be clear.
it's not that deep
I learned that when I also learned my grade 10 aquatics class had 5 naloxone kits between us, in a fairly privileged area
out of 20 kids
5 of us were prepared to help someone with an opioid OD
and one person I knew, not personally, just in classes and such actually did OD after school, learned a week later he dropped dead
very wholesome
I don't do opioids
thanks for asking
Makes shit hard
riiiight...
I re-installed Pop!_OS (I learned that this is apparently the proper capitalisation and grammar) and let me just say that I am not going back to Fedora. It feels so much better.
I just had to tweak the dock a bit and now I have my own Linux version of MacOS.
pov you’re a linux user
Mmm... distro hopping..
I am and I will shout it from a mountain top if I have to.
I am not a distribution hopper.
I was using Pop!_OS for almost two years but the update to 21.04 broke my installation. Caused such a headache that I switched to Fedora Workstation for almost a year, switching back to Pop!_OS now because I prefer their layout and way of doing things.
I use Arch (btw) on my PinePhone though.
I have no idea what that means.
