But basic efficient coding? Bruh.

old marlin
#

on top of his own shit

#

but if you apply like 200 mods

and they all add stuff

and all get handled differently

young pecan
#

Learn from Terraria 1.1, do not do Terraria 1.1 netcode.

old marlin
#

gl optimizing that as a total

young pecan
#

Terraria 1.1 netcode is fucking cursed.

shadow minnow
#

This modpack is mix of every single mod that looked interesting. But some mods don’t work well, gotta check if there are new versions. Also one mod would require me to change biome ids in config since no unlimited ids supported which would take possibly hours.

young pecan
#

Rebuild modpack, yeah.

shadow minnow
#

Nope, want most mods there. Possibly gonna update all mods but that’s around it. I would have to remove like 400 biomes if I wanted it to work well without spending time which I also don’t want to do.

#

Not enough IDs is the best 1.12.2 mod lul

young pecan
#

Dude, you should rebuild the modpack because it's not optimized at all.

#

Keep the mods, but do the base level rebuild first.

#

Make default forge + optimization mods.

#

Probably take you a few days, but more modpacks is more good.

#

Hell, upload it to Curse as well, big packs that're well made aren't too common. LUL

#

Always just cursed.

shadow minnow
#

This is cursed. Also huge mix. Flying stuff, basically all tech mods, optionally Emc, huge amount of biomes, I would need OTG for even more good ones, and also magic mods… basically everything lul Could not even uploaded to some stuff because too many mods.

Linpack is pretty good for heating up room, 300w of cpu power consumption, since it’s getting cold. Surprisingly cpu block does not get hot at all, just cpu can hit 96c and water gets 3 c warmer

ashen spindle
#

at least run folding@home or something if you just want it to heat

crimson wigeon
#

Mine crypto

shadow minnow
shadow minnow
crimson wigeon
#

Yes and CPU

shadow minnow
#

Definitely rather folding at home.

#

Even if I wanted to mine crypto profit fees here are pretty high afaik.

#

Don’t really need that much heat

#

Linpack alone can get to 96c. Surprisingly the 100% linpack load periods are colder and lot less power consuming compared to 75% ones.

#

I burn my cpu for heat lul

#

Pc with GPU under full load can actually be comparably hot to some heaters lul

#

Here just wood (and silicone) is burned for heat. Also no gas at all coming to house where I live.

#

Hmm, strange, one cpu code is lot colder than average, should I increase clock on it. Question is if I can just add +100 or sth since I am using different frequencies based on cores active.

#

I don’t. One thing is that I don’t like what they sometimes do with voltages. But also with 11900k there are not many extra gains even with custom watercooling.

#

Some cores get lot colder, any way to set +100mhz to set frequencies instead of per core limit with RKL?

ashen spindle
#

tf are you trying to do

shadow minnow
#

By less I mean almost 20c

ashen spindle
#

but it's not like zen where two cores get selected as best cores and get thread priority

#

also you do realise increasing their speed will make the other cores hotter?

shadow minnow
ashen spindle
#

what

#

so you dont think its doing anything for multicore

#

but still want to increase some cores for multicore

shadow minnow
ashen spindle
#

very misleading headline

#

fabs charge by wafer not by chip

#

and a wafer price increase is in no way an equal price increase for resulting chips

shadow minnow
#

Don’t get DVID. No matter what number I set, it’s not dynamic, it’s just added to voltage and no matter the load voltages stays as high. For example 1.2v vcore and 200mv dvid results in voltage being 1.4v no matter the load for some reason.

vagrant pagoda
#

if using dvid leave vcore on auto

shadow minnow
#

Yeah rather won’t use it then. Since with my current frequencies voltages sometimes get high on auto.

vagrant pagoda
#

just saying that is your issue

#

dynamic voltage is offset for the vcore

#

which means if you set both, they just add together

#

dvid is more for raising or lowering the auto setting

shadow minnow
#

Ram unstable at settings it was previously more stable at again smh.

vagrant pagoda
#

i had the same thing recently

#

turned out it was just airflow over the ram

shadow minnow
#

Thing is that it’s not stable at same temps it used to be at.

ashen spindle
#

" it was previously more stable at"

#

so it wasnt stable

shadow minnow
# ashen spindle so it wasnt stable

Well it was not totally, but totally stable does not really have a definition. Basically it was previously stable at lot higher temps, and now errors are on lower.
Of course when you get more heat even very stable things stop being as stable.

ashen spindle
#

ok, rephrased: you knew it was unstable to a certain degree, so changing things and then back to those unstable things is not guaranteed the same level of "sometimes stable"

#

thats how it is

shadow minnow
ashen spindle
#

yes I don't care about a philosophy talk about it, you're constantly changing about every oc setting available so it's to be expected if something that worked doesnt work anymore is all I'm saying

#

and not something surprising

shadow minnow
#

I mean I changed all settings back. So sometimes even without changing settings from boot to boot differences are pretty high, sometimes not

ashen spindle
#

yea thats to be expected

shadow minnow
#

Makes finding out which settings are better lot harder, especially with manually changing every secondary timing.

ashen spindle
#

welcome to the world where we made sand smart

There is such a massive difference between different distributions for the Pinephone.

Manjaro regularly made it lose all of its battery pretty quickly. I couldn't even leave it unplugged over night because it would die.

@wheat plume Why does that keyboard sound good?

crisp granite

cherry housings are great for sound due to the nylon material

vagrant elk
#

That keyboard is so small it doesn't even have a layer key.

crisp granite
#

with a thinner lube and actually decent stems, you can get some shockingly nice sounding switches

vagrant elk
#

I'm waiting for a company to come along and create a keyboard with a 60% size, a 4k OLED display, SSD, hard drive, power supply and other stupid stuff.

#

Basically an all-in-one but in a keyboard form factor for no apparent reason.

#

With an attached screen for extra anxiety and self-hatred.

crisp granite

pretty sure apple did as close as they could with the tech they had...40-ish years ago with the apple IIc

vagrant elk

I can't even trust someone I've known for almost 3 years and some people I've known most of my life. I have issues.

I'm going to go see what the local cafe has because I've never been in there before.

crisp granite
#

...

#

what?

#

you live near a cafe...and you've never even set foot inside?

vagrant elk
#

I only discovered it a couple of weeks ago.

#

I'm just scared of trying new places sometimes but this time it should be fine.

crisp granite
#

(to be fair, there was this Jamaican place near me that I've walked past almost every day for my entire life, just set foot inside a week ago and ordered some oxtail, was actually quite good. TL;DR, I really shouldn't be throwing rocks in a glass house)

vagrant elk

We get way too much snow, normally the really bad stuff everyone hates.

#

Normally -40 degrees Centigrade on a regular basis. Some years it's more mild and -20 degrees Centigrade is normal.

crisp granite
#

lucky bastard

vagrant elk

Mild years are rare.

Recent years have been so brutal that they cancel school and even close businesses for a few days because it's so brutally cold.

There's always businesses that stay open but the point is winter sucks here.

I mean they ditched the new dart because parents and kids aren't smart enough to not mix darts. They had the same issue with the suction cup and the streamlime darts

crisp granite
#

the suction cup darts worked fine out of my front loading nerf blasters, like my firestrikes and my triad

#

but the magazine-fed blasters were a no-go

I figured that would have been obvious given how the suction cups are larger than the diameter of the foam and don't even fit in the mags...unlike the streamline tips

Have you seen the microwave and toaster that are better than yours?

I have not

#

I imagine most are tbh

vagrant elk
#

The toaster is from the 1940s and consistently browns the toast on both sides reliably and not only take the bread down automatically but also pops it up automatically. The microwave had recipes, cook timers for complicated meals and sensors which made sure that meals were cooked correctly and evenly.

#

The videos are better than what I could explain.

and I want a new one that does the same thing

Discontinued in the 1960s or 1970s because the toasters not only lasted a long time but needed one part to be replaced to fix it if it stopped working.

Basically they made such a good product that they went out of business.
