Yeah it won't be sold at that price
But does it run solitaire. As its not a fps game
The offbrand dont question origin one might have it as msrb, the rest dont need to follow
Also retailers can ignore them if they think it would still sell
Also weird to think that the manufacturer undervalues the estimated market value instead of being way off from actual market rate in the end
Nvidia still alive or ghosting somewhere like their dlls .dll .dlld .ifbutalotofthem apparently?
There'll be AMD built reference models?
Not sure what the graphs mean for games where performance stayed the same. Are they so subobtimal or that optimal programmed? probably being cpu bound?
What you see there is a comparison to the competitor
multiple games show significant change other non significant. blame magnets
so much vram though. thats like half my cpu has for system memory
Thats it im making a 32gb swap partition to not deadlock when it runs out. Rimworld mods can suck a lot of it apparently
wait. why did i make the swap on the harddrive and not my nvme ssd... might affect performance eh..
effort
Because you don't want to burn those precious write cycles
I dont like the 3060. Its very small progress. This is like the 3060 - small progress
So Idont like 6600 XT either
Pretty much
Also finally added my hdd to my fstab so i can actually use them without mounting them first. So many dupllicate files and archives in archives. put them all nicely in a new archive and begin anew, infinite compression
think about it. or a mess that should be organised. i dont like files they are hard to not clutter
atleast i have redundancy, a lot of it
wait i can let the cpu do the duplicate file handling thing. hopefully also able to handle images and other media. 🤔
thick cpu
more surface area is good
I mean
it doesn't provide more surface area
but it should spread it out better over the surface area
Hmm, would it be relevant for constant high loads or would it average out to be unnotice in those workloads?

not an expert on thermodynamics
prob both though
well
depending on your cooler at least
Big metal block pretending to be your passive cooling
So mini airco
looks normal to me
we have a printer with finisher and all
its like 8months old
140k pages printed
Lol
The Outlook apps doesnt divide email by time period like the website does....
its just one long ass list instead
why not?!
It is a render. Don't put much stock into this.

since Die stacking becomes more and more relevant, pretty sure thats the reason they took that approach
^
hopefully it's a similar mechanism as the TR socket
because that one is really neat and userfriendly
Lol
idk havent used any higher end socket yet but any form of improvement there is welcome
still a year before release so doubt we'll see final version before computex
Not true, the thinner The better
Copper is just an awful conductor compared to a heatpipe or flowing water
If there was a vapor chamber inside the ihs that would be very cool
What's wrong with copper?
Problem is there's zero room for errors
the reason direct die will never happen for consumer stuff
Copper is very very slow to transmit heat compared to heatpipes
Integrated watercooling
that's the goal
uhm
at this point it's becoming marketing
nah
I'd imagine we get to a point in whatever years where it's normal to have a 1000hz screen at any price point
yeah i meant more in terms of, actually benefits
infinity panels
I mean, sure the benefits diminish, they don't reach 0 though
the step from 240 to 360 is already barely noticable
and tech can't advance/get cheaper without it being new and expensive at first
yeah rule of thumb is you need 1.5x increase in refresh rate to really notice it
so 360 to 480 wont make much sense for you to upgrade to
but we ain't getting to 1000hz being normal and cheap without some silly steps inbetween
they should rather focus on high resolution high refreshrate panels, for those wanting the beauty of both worlds
same thing for that though, easier to first increase resolution, then increase refresh rate instead of both at once
according to the article 4K 240hz are in development
ye
So that would keep us set for a while for GPUs to catch up
not really
with DLSS
gpu are ramping up hard
that future is quite near
Q4 2022 release will be insane
please
on demanding titles
poor bandwidth starved connections
what actually does 4k 150-200 and looks decent without some ultra performance dlss bs
DLSS itself no. But advanced upscaling techniques - alas they are a part of the future
dlss itself yes, they might rename it but they won't throw away the data they got and try something completely else, since temporal solutions are needed
We need a neutral version of it that works for Intel and AMD too. Also we need it to not die when the Windshield of the Metro Exodus car is in view XD
well yeah we might end up with something from intel that nvidia will make commits too or will get stuff reverse engineered or w/e
or dlss becomes open sou...
Microsoft ml shiz should do ok
Microsoft has the money to brute force the ml problem too
low profile sockets on all ics
Expansion connector
Firmware in proms
Oh boy how apple has changed
IKR
TBF, a lot of Apple fans dont care as long as their device is really really thin
They care more about thin-ness than power and expandability
:P I type faster on my laptop chiclet keyboard than on my Wooting
Framework laptop is proof that apple just doesn't care
If a startup can make a product more repairable for cheaper at the same height, then it's just apple doesn't want it to be repairable...
Like it's .2mm taller...
Not 2mm
.2mm
And it has twice as many ports, including the option for USB a, full size displayport, and hdmi
Like now there's no excuse
Oh also the soc has direct active cooling, and power delivery capable of significantly more power than the m1
Yep
as do I
I just find it wildly uncomfortable
full travel or bust

Me too
Mostly because my wooting is currently in a factory but shh
aha
Me too because I don't use a wooting anymore xD
lucky bastard
mine doesn't exist yet
batch 2 blues

CRIMINAL SCUM, BACKSTABBING BASTARD
I've gotten used to it
using the shittiest keyboard I've ever had the displeasure of using while waiting makes it nearly unbearable
🤤
RE not using wooting
60%, ANSI, really shitty clickies that aren't tactile, noisy as fuck and get caught mid travel leading to...chattering, on an optoelectric switch

the only way it could get worse is if it stops working...wait
that would be good
an excuse to buy another keyboard
Apple, making a manual that shows exctly how their OS works
Wozzmon, LOL best OS name
Its a depressing world when a security cam's main feature is that it DOESNT need a monthly subscription fee
could use old phones
or just most regular securit cams that still dont need that
Using an old phone for a security cam is silly
or rather, almost none bar amazon and googles offerings work that way
ye but we're not at a point yet where it's so rare that you need to advertise it as a special point that it isn't cloud based subscription to work
Noice
disgusting
Can i show off my 2tb ssd and 1tb nvme :3
69/420 or bust
I have a 1TB NVME and a 2TB Sata SSD I havent installed yet
(this is not showing my Linux SSD, cause Windows dont do that)
I dont have a spare NVME slot ;-;
I would have gotten one otherwise
Dont they slow it down a lot?

?
why would that be the case
Ditto
200 for 2tb nvme seems pretty affordable
Yeah, my sata one was almost was almost that much
I mean it's more or less the same $/GB as a 1tb drive
I may rebuild my PC at the start of next semester and reinstall my OS's
I want to plug the front case fan into a port it can be controlled with anyway cause it runs at 85% speed at all times currently
And install the 2TB SSD for more space
use disk manager
You don't want windows to see your Linux disk
I know it shows it there but it just says unknown for all the data values besides the size
windows sees the disk, and the partition, but it ignored it because it cant read it
well you wanted to show the sizes...
Yeah I know
Never show your size until it's in the bag
what's in the bag
Pleb not trying hard enough 😄
...
I've ordered a 2tb SSD because I've filled up both of my 1TB ssds to the effective maximum of 70% capacity
and you struggle to...fill up half a terrabyte?
how?
...
¯_(ツ)_/¯
most games nowadays are huge
Until October of last year, I lived off of 256GB storage only for like 5 years
Now I have 1TB almost filled xd

my fallout new vegas files are larger than my cyberpunk files
maybe
just maybe
I've been hitting the mods too hard lately
Intel 660p is cheap
or it WAS cheap
665p and 670P are well priced too (compared to the rest of the hardware space)
and before you ask - they are MORE than good enough for the average user
yes a power user should look for something MLC or at least highest end TLC drives
but for games / general users, these QLC drives with SLC and RAM caches (they have both) are JUST as good
A drive with a 20% afr is not ok for the average user
In fact the average user will want a drive that is more durable than the average enthusiast
I have the 1tb version
I have had this 2TB version for years and I do not really try to be good to it.
It is still 98% healthy
Yea they don't smart fail they just up and die in OEM systems
despite taking hundreds of mods, multiple rage uninstalls of WoT, GTA V, RDR2, Metro Exodus, basically terabytes of games
That seems to be bad luck the way you describe it
or faulty units
I mean... it happens. I had 2 defective Ryzen 3600 CPUs
and I mean defective from the factory
no joke
Bad luck among 5k drives over 2 years?
5K out of how many is the question tbh
5K by itself isnt enough info
Though I do indeed wonder what caused them to fail, if true. Likely not the cells. Software failure?
Yeah. WOrld of Bullshit
I'm talking about an enterprise deployment here
When 5% of 20k new systems have SSD failures, and every single one of them is a 660p failing when only 1/4 of the systems had 660ps...
I will need a source on that Carmon. That is extremely suspicious. I am not saying it hasnt happened but Ive made dozens of systems with the 1TB or 2TB 660p. Nowadays I use the 665P though or the WD Blue (if cheaper)
It was only around a thousand failures but that's still an insane amount
And it wasn't a single bad batch
and never ever seen an issue
🤷♂️ you booting from it?
yes
And you up to date on windows?
unless its a high-end system I use those SSDs yes. All my friends and many of the clients
Yes
obviously ;d
🤷♂️ still compare the sample sizes
I cant. I dont know anything about your expeirence. I have reviews and my own XP here ;d
All of the drives that you've encountered wouldn't change the statistics by 1 percentage point...
though for what its worth, I have phased out the 660p and am using the newer 665P or 670p instead
those are tougher and faster
Well you told me 5% failure? That is obscene tbh. id have seen that for sure
5% out of 20k
5k of them were 660ps
All of them that failed were 660ps
So what percent of the 660ps failed?
20%
And that was in one year...
There were plenty of hynix and Samsung drives that had no problems...
And they were all identical systems just with different ssds from the OEM
Yeah id have seen that over the years for sure. IDK what to say, sounds weird to me.
I dont know why it might have happened
😦
I don't either
What's even stranger is the guy said the hynix ssds were using the same controller
So it wasn't failing controllers...
I mean it could have been but that seems unlikely considering that year zero of the hynix died
To be fair that's only including ssds, they had significantly more hdds die than 660ps but that's expected
Other details,
The drives were full drive encrypted, and imaged twice generally over their lifespan
But same was true for the other ssds
Anything could suddenly fail catastrophically
Usually there is a threshold though where it either would have failed already or wont do that likely for the next decades.
Bunch of deployed sn520s been perfectly fine tho...
And it wasn't the OEM version of the 660p it seems (the 6000 series variant) it was the straight 660p
Its a very popular game
it still is. over 2 million concurrent players (not all the time though) in total
so its more popular than CS GO for example
I cannot know that info. I suspect its mostly old accounts though since high tiers have more players
I just purchased a 3060Ti for the farm and when I went to go pick it up it was a 3070.
I’m just gonna not complain about being given a 3070.
very pog
that's probably not much in the way of hash rate iirc
but in terms of actual...value for what geforce GPUs are actually meant for (gaming), yes
very good
62.5MH/s.
Good rate.
Would warn you in case you sell the thing, to make sure they have no legal claims to the goods anymore.
TIL there is a mechanical Switch controller
Check out the Ice Edition Zen Grip Bundle at https://bit.ly/3oD3Kb8 and use code WULFFDEN10 for an addition 10% off
Most controllers have mushy membrane pads under each button. But what if the controller acted more like a keyboard? This controller by Sunwaytek uses Red Mechanical Switches to mimic a PC Keyboard. This has some... INTERESTING effe...
Using mouse switches I could understand but low profile keyboard ones, nope
Oh sorry meant lower profile
you really don't want a lot of travel on a controller
Cool so the shoulder buttons of my handhelds use arcade switches

Apparently the D-pad thumbstick comes off real easily :/
of course
desolder, open up, been there done that but I get what you mean.
no like
mx switches don't fit
they use smaller ones
it's cheapness shows in some aspects dpad flies off mid game
ah, still replacing springs should be possible providing you have the right springs, of course the selection of switches is pretty limited
yea you just need to custom order some springs

and then still only get whatever kailh made in that formfactor
I am pretty sure if you look hard enough you can find other springs in the same form-factor.
yea maybe
Nintendo: "Ah yes, Let us use TCP for online multiplayer, to ensure no packets get lost. That will totally give our players the best experience!"

find me a single online game that doesn't use tcp or some custom variant of it...
?
you made it sound like using tcp is a terrible choice for online games
Why would games use TCP?! It doesnt matter that much if some packets get lost
yeah, doesn't matter if the host never gets the info that a client left for example...
there ain't a single game only running on udp xD
if you walking along a path in a map and a packlet gets lost, the game can assuem you still want to walk the same direction
it doesnt need to pause the whole game and request that packet once again
Which is what TCP would do
that is implementation, not pure tcp vs udp
you use what fits for the situation
you can use both!

games from the 2000s
Yeh, but using TCP for the data transfer in an application that needs to happen in as close to real time as possible is a bad idea
can't think of a online game that wouldn't use both
where you could run into problems with desyncs
you just use whatever suits the specific data you want to transmit.
but you just said they use tcp, if you meant they use tcp for movement updates you gotta be more specific..
RN, on Switch's Multiplayer... the entire game freezes if a packet gets lost so it can spend that time to request that packet to be sent again
Thats a pretty crappy experience
my wifi works fine on my games on computer
other than shitty ping
usually above 60ms
usually i only see 2-4 people max in a server with higher ping than me
you said " use TCP for online multiplayer" as if that was abnormal, if they use it a a wrong place that results in bad netcode, but if you don't want to use tcp at all, your game is going to be really bad lmao
no
desyncs

just implement better netcode
which doesn't rely on having EVERY packet transferred immediatley
the same way you can use udp and update checks to cover for lost packages, you can do in a similar way with tcp...
but you can make both variants in a bad way
ideally you still want every package transferred
but with the switch people get super shitty connections
Doesnt help that the Switch has a crappy wifi card
its like 5 feet from my phone and only has one bar of signal strength
doesn't matter
even if it has the worlds greatest wifi cards
still reliant on peoples mone connections
their APs
their houses in general
what other people on their connection are doing
That does sound like a stupid thing to do
Yes
Yes indeed
Also, do not forget your / after the path name!
location /api/
Otherwise you can travel up to the parent directory!
Thing is if you follow basically any tutorial they will either hammer on that point, or you are using a framework that makes sure you do.
nginx is nice, but very footshootable
foot
i like that :')
Factorio uses UDP only.
yeah the LN2 tank is empty
LOL
Dammit should have gone for liquid helium instead

that's the fucking point
it's stuff like this that makes me really question as to why we're survived this long as a species
^^ right?
seriously, a PC is full of heat generating components...and the fans blow hot air out because...heat bad for system
I don't think you need to explain it to anybody here lol
literally the reason Mansen posted it I imagine
yeah
Jiggle jiggle goes the air molecule
cut that sucker in half
😉
(I'm well aware that's not really dangerous at all)
works better with...heavier particles
heh, pc is making a spooky sound. Giving it a good old tactical slap seems to silence it. Probably some fan is bend and rubbing somewhere. Atleast it listens to my advanced technical ability.
XD
literally did that the other day because rear exhaust fan was doing just that
one open-handed spank fixed it
Mmm yes, spank that computer real well
i have a question, maybe someone here knows an answer for it. i just installed a AIO water cooler into my pc. (Corsair H100i RGB Pro XT) but the temperature it shows me in iCUE concern me a bit. Not sure if these in my eyes quite high temps are normal with my CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 3800X)
CPU idle: 47-57 (it slowly descends to 47 and shoots back to 57 out of nowhere constantly)
CPU load: 76 (through Cinebench)
The coolant temps are quite decent tho (idle 29.6, load around 30)
Btw I'm using 2 front fans for intake and the radiator + fans as outtake, this is not the best but I have an inverted case and I think this was the best solution.
are these temps too hot?
Its silicone 🤷 it tends to give little shit about heat. Unlike those pesky carbon based lifeforms
hahaha that's true but do you know if these temps are normal with this cpu. I have read that the ryzen cpu's output more heat. it also seems to strange to me that the temperature keeps fluctating with 10 degrees
silicon
not silicone
one is a shiny rock
the other is used as a sealant for bathrooms
lol
mine runs fine at 70-80c max or something at full tilt. currently around 66c at 28% average use. 3 cores are doing most of the work lmao
As long as it doesnt need to thermal throttle to keep cool anything will do
true true, but if it doesnt run optimal with my new setup then it could be a problem with the pump or something
76C is what my 5800x maxes at with a 240 aio. Idle is ~42
Although I may have changed some pbo settings to reduce max temps. Can't remember 100%
Looks like my EDC hits its limit at max load so yeah probably did
To... compile?
Jesus christ. What are they compiling. The entire universe xD
ikr
They dont even give instructions on how to do this on mac or windows
just right into the Linux steps
Yesn't
we don;t know what this is 😛
Yeah that's Chromium in a nutshell, intentionally made to be not compilable by mere mortals
Android too has bloated that much?!
I was building it in like an hour in a VM some years ago
I mean it doesn't really mean much
72 cores of shit cpu still takes forever even if the build is tiny
as always, if you just live post bits and pieces of something you watch or read, we have no clue what you are on about
When you pull down from the repo's master branch, it is about 100GB of stuff to download apparently
(the Android one)
It is all of it
So you do a shallow clone..
unless the build system can't handle that for some stupid reason
This is what you end up with
Thats why you dont compile from the raw source.
Technically you can grab a custom firmwares source code which should be smaller and use the x device source tree
That is building support for your own device though
pre-compiling should alleviate most issues.
Speaking of that A/AB firmwares exist and I think google offers a vanila one
DSU also exists but probably would need a firmware to work in a fifferent way
A lot of the work is keeping track of variables, scopes, and figuring out what it is allowed and what it means. Human syntax is not great for computers to parse
just 4.5 times faster than a 6 core?
wtf kinda shit cpus is that
if it's a 5600x vs older gen epyc it could make sense
Some people used the old threadripper for compiling
It doesnt scale well. Especially when you get to the linking part.
5ghz 6 cores vs 3ghz epyc chips? 72 cores also means it's at least dual cpu which isn't perfect scaling
idk, just too little information to make use of
I have never seen Dave so happy in my life :O <3

HAH YES Xd
Hmm....
100mb/s on a phone screen recording
Why... Xd
I tried it......
It didn't make the phone lag
But the video was pretty laggy when I was watching it back
Huh, the hell is it even supposed to refer to. Compression, resolution, framerate, audio, amount of change between frames, etc. Want to compress as much as you can get away with.
I tried 1mb/s
It looks like shit xd
Yeah 8 is pretty good for discord
Can't do 60fps though....
Maybe cause of my CPU in this phone
Does it just hint how much the compressor can work with? Is it even taking the compression in mind or raw data?
I think my previous phone could do 60fps since that had a Snapdragon 845
Oh what does this one have?
Iirc 730G
Hmm a pretty good processor though I guess I get why it says 30 then
Technically you can always use a different one
Yeah it ass in my opinion longer is better visually
Ass
It looks terrible
Ah hmm
I can turn it off if I want
Ah nice wish that was in stock android
I still see the bar
<_<
Also why your keyboard transparent?
Oh wait that's the photos UI
Because it was a screenshot
Inside of a lens scan
Inside of Google photos
Inside the UI
Inside of the ufs storage
Technically I could raise the keyboard up
Chose to have it closer to my fingers at the bottom
Ooo ..
Your Gboard uses the new material design
Hmm....
That's neat
Yeah wish the keyboard spacebar was less bubbly though
Idk if I like the combined , and emote button though
Oh I just do not want a small spacebar ASSthetics
Oh
Your screen is 16:9?
18:9
Wot
But I hid the notch
Oh
9:18*
I would hide the notch also but the rounded corners it adds aren't the same radius as the physical rounded corners on the bottom of the screen
That mismatch annoys me
Yeah that is strange even if people lose screen
Some people just want some good aesthetic
Idk if it shows it well on the screenshot
petition to have phone talk as a isolated thread in tech talk so I won't see it
🤣🤣
Oh yeah... Threads exist
If your screen on the bottom is about the radius of the top edge frame fair enough
It is when not hiding the notch
The fake round corners it adds are less radius than the real corners
Hmm that makes sense honestly that sounds normal
Since most phones even if they do not cover the bottom bezel fully or close to that round the radii so much I want to vomit
#include "pthread.h"
#error "you like threading huh, pretty tiring stuff"
They removed the option to also move the status bar.... It's gone since updating to 12.5
Move the status bar?
To be under the notch
New feature, removal of a feature
Xd
They were brave
They didn't mention the removal in the change log
Ah okay thx, do your temps fluctuate too? Mine goes up and down 10 degrees on idle, that looks quite strange. Say it is 54, slowly moves to 44 and jumps back to 54 in an instant
Wow love how the changelog does not say developer did not add any patch notes
Or any bugs being fixed
Depends if it refers to specific bugs or general idea of bugs
Living bug in the phone screen
FML Just had to spend half an hour blocking Insider updates to 11.
Thermo-nuclear warhead wont disappoint. Next problem is no phone but the bug is gone as well
Windows literally won't let me leave the program. Until I reduce the diagnostics to Basic. xD
If you go to the dev channel you're forever locked in (now is the exception where you can drop down to the beta channel from it though)
Why are you on Insider if you don’t want updates
I'm not! xD
I jumped on the Insider to try out 11. It started giving me BSOD on login. So I rolled back to 10. And left the program.
Then I notice before shutting down an hour ago that it's trying to force 11 back onto the PC, even though I told it not to.
But yeah... a ton of command line fixes didn't work. But... reducing my diagnostics to Basic instead of Full did.
Imagine sending full diagnostics anyway
Windows updater doesnt take no as answer
I swear it's worse than the Duo Lingo bird 😄
Yeah tell MS about absolutely everything!
I wonder if that's why they remove good features.. telemetry says no one uses said feature because everyone who uses it also disabled telemetry ecks dee
Technically they probably already know if they want to people used their operating systems since even children in some cases
I have not noticed jumps like that at idle with my aio honestly. You're sure nothing is randomly using cpu like steam updating games or something?
my headphones have finally landed in the US. They're in Connecticut
Which were these?
Sennheisers? Focal? Idk.
I remember some convo about that.
Verum
Ah.
They the Verum 1 headphones?
yeah
I've heard they're great headphones, competitors to the Audeze LCD2. But the dude who makes them is a bit of an ass.
Aye, seen that as well.
I don't really care personally. He can heil hitler or whatever all he likes as long as he makes a good product. These people are all aghast and acting like he's the fuckin anti-christ or something but they then go and buy shit from Amazon.

Lol verum one is far away from the LCD2
The guy threatened to send anthrax to a reviewer because they didn’t like it
And then said “oh no that was an intern on my personal account who said that” when people were like “the fuck?”
It’s your money but he’s a one man show and I’d rather not support that kind of person.
https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/hsmffo/drama_garuspik_creator_of_verum_one_talks_about/
He’s a typical product of Ukraine’s homogeneous society so he’s racist and homophobic but like anthrax threat bruh
You can only blame interns so many times.
We're on intern blame #4 atm.
Wtf?
Lmao fuck this dude.
I'd rather just go through ATA and buy an Audeze LCD pair.
His headphones are pretty bad too
Apparently they're alright, but have some severely bad QA problems.
From trusted ears, they’re bad
Zeos loves them
But he loves anything you give him as long as it’s not related to any target curve
That's a yikes moment there.
If you tell Zeos something was tuned to harman even when it isn’t he’ll hate it
The guy is a master at building hype and farming affiliate links
this is the opposite of true
guy shilled harman so hard on many of his videos
Is that why he disliked the K371 because it was made to match the 2019 harman target curve
Souuurce.
I must have it.
Tasty af [citation needed], put it on pizza.
he disliked the k371 because it was so much more expensive than the k361 for not much more...
I CBA to scroll through a 20 minute video but somewhere in it he’s like “but should these exist”
And you can tell through his videos over the time that his personal view is nothing is bad and anyone can like anything
thats correct tho
I agree anyone can like anything but there are definitely good and bad
You can like bad things
People like the room
No in audio there’s objectivity
Bad is an opinion.
Neo nazi heavy breathing noises
It’s not all subjective
yes
accuracy is objective
however
good vs bad can be independent from objectivity
Like if something is grainy it’s just grainy and grainy is generally considered bad
i think records sound great
they are objectively bad at reproducing sound tho but 🤷♂️
sad 1930s radio noises
and there are people who like grainy
Well yeah vinyls are worse, but it’s ok if you like them
What you’re hearing isn’t mp3 vs vinyl it’s likely different masters
mostly because its the bgm on all the streams i watch
They tend to press higher quality maters into vinyl because it costs more
The same master, digital vs analog. Digital wins every single time
Vinyl sounds nicer and is also infinitely better by definition.
Say in digital you have 192KB, that by definition is 192,000 bytes per second.
That’s not how it works
Vinyl is technically whatever distance you have down to whatever scale the head can read.
To reach CD levels of dynamic range you would need a perfect vinyl made from diamond
vinyl technically has a gigantic amount more data encoded in the record
its just useless because of the dynamic range limitation
thats a funny idea
read vinyl with a cd laser lol
If your head can read down into the atomic range you'll frankly put any digital to utter shame if you can press something accurately enough.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, god no.
Not the kind you want for that.
Those lasers are stoopid expensive.
nah there was a paper 2 years ago about using consumer grade lasers to make nanoscale measurements
Stupid BS with producing high accuracy lenses.
nah no lenses needed
A plain laser diode can easily measure sub-micron vibrations from centimeters away by self-mixing interferometry! I also show how this technique can be used for range-finding.

Actually pog.
Vinyls suck, they wear out and for me lossless digital audio can reproduce the audio much more accurate than vinyl ever could by having to deal with physical phenomena such as thermal expantion/contraction. No ability to put parity checks or other data integrity checks to know if the data is also transmitted correctly. Analog signals could use differencial signals to make it more resiliant but in the end the receiver just has to hope it was done good enough
reproduce yes
It comes down to experiences and taste.
Vinyls sound VERY warm and intimate.
but its not about objectivity all the time
You can compare the data the master record has stored on it, and what you ended up at the speakers to see how it changed over the process
I mean people love the sound of a dirty vinyl, doesn’t mean it’s objectively better
In which case you have an idiot point since you're doing a conversion anyway and losing data.
good vs bad is an opinion and is thus subjective
Of course good vs bad is objective
what
Enjoyable is subjective
uuuuuuh
We judge good versus bad on subjective experiences. It's objective only to a majority by which we make social standards.
But it's not objective.
good is by definition subjective
As you have a subjective view on what good means to you personally. Ergo good cannot be objective, yes.
Boom. Nailed the addition.
The only time something is objective is when it's a universal truth.
This chair is not a cat. Objective by definition.
Gravity exists, this is a universal constant. Very objective.
well
bad example
gravity is literally relative due to relativity
rolls eyes If you want me to start on fundamental physics I can, but just treat it as objective for the sake of conversation.
yup since its measurable and repeatable
Objective as in a law of the universe that we can observe and detect (unless we look at quantum mechanics in which case different fundamental forces take over at that scale).
objective as part of classical mechanics yes
the accuracy of an audio signal as relative to the master is objective
the quality of an audio signal as experienced as good or bad is not objective since its neither measurable or repeatable
its experiential
not experimental
You can turn it objective by measuring some data, making clear definations and thresholds, and using measurements and agreed upon limits/thresholds you can make objective claims under that system
but then thats not the experienced quality of the signal
thats a measurement of the accuracy of the signal
if your opinion is that the quality of the signal depends on the accuracy measurements thats your opinion
but thats still
your opinion
Which thereby makes it subjective.
I do have a lot of apps open at idle, that is true. But steam wasnt updating no. I will see if i have nothing open it will fix it.
I don't know if you saw but if you're worried about temps you can usually adjust your PBO settings in your BIOS to reduce temps a little. You can adjust them slightly for minimal lose in performance to get it a little cooler.
I'd also check your pump settings if your aio has them or if you use any monitoring software that supports it. I just happened to remember that my pump was fluctuating speed when I first got it so I set it to just run 100%.
ah yea okay. i will have a look at that, my cpu runs constantly at ~4,2 GHz, that's a bit high i think for doing not really much
Smh windows. I install an app, windows places it in a random place on desktop, and it also ignores order of all the other files, and actually completely changes the arrangement. Why…
Oh, it changed arrangement once more, even worse this time…
Ayy it's in New Jersey. Hopefully it's here early next week.
Why?
Cant crash then, or get your data stolen.
Tbh for me it’s more convinient, at least on macOS. Also since I would have had full desktop, instead there are “app groups” based on what type of file/app it is. Not that I didn’t use spotlight most of the time. Had worse experience with searching app on windows though. Not sure, will find out as soon as replacement mobo and cpu finally get here
That sucks. Tbh for me it’s just thing of convenience. Sure, most of files should be elsewhere, but rather have less of wallpaper visible and shortcuts for most of apps than having to go to files and find the apps there. If at least windows search worked well.
desktop is a scratchpad for me
anything on the desktop would be safe to delete at any time
Cat do blep <3
Hope windows 11 will bring some improvements to that. Also not sure what do I think of UI elements like time and wifi on bottom. Pretty sure though that I am not a fan of windows still having 1999 like exe installers, square shaped stuff and close buttons.
And also, is there any way to have more “screens” where you have different apps, something you can switch between with f3 on macOS.
Assuming your computer can run it
^
not on 11
cant even change to small taskbar icons
No
Other than "It looks better"
Don’t think it would look good on top tbh considering the design.
Maybe
well for one they said insider builds dont yet have all features so that might just come later
and reasons for upgrade would be for example if you want to use android applications directly, or once you have one of the never cpu's with hybrid design
Tbh as a mac user till when replacements arrive, the UI on windows just seems to be worse In so many ways to me.
Nah, MacOS is a lot smoother and consistent
That is why Windows 11 is copying it :P
for the new Action Center and system tray applet
Is not a big part of the new windows 11 UI also browser based?
Also tbh not a fan of the security. Since I sometimes play modded stuff, and windows just saying that app wants to make changes in pc every time I open it does not make me feel that safe. Why does it not just ask for exact permissions it needs, for me to allow or not to allow each one, like on macOS.
Or like Android
Because developers rejected UWP which has that kind of control
And Microsoft unlike Apple doesn't dare to boss developers around and force them to use the new stuff
Yeah
Even not forcing them, if Microsoft at least told you what exactly wants the app to do would be nice.
backwards compatibility and all that
(despite the sheer amount of eWaste that will occur due to Windows 11)
win 10 still runs fine
ewaste?
Yes
People made to believe they need a brand new computer when the app tells them it cant run 11
it told me that my computer is incompatible
The one I got in October .-.
I mean, apart from 32 bit apps, but at least before there did not use to be issues with backwards compatibility even with that app permission stuff.
Once I enabled TPM it said I can run it
Most people dont know how to enable TPM, not to mention , what TPM is
we went over this, TPM is on in almost every pre built and if you are not using a pre built and look at win11 without knowing what TPM is you are in the EXTREME vast minority
that is not going to cause anything
Microsoft be very inteligent.
Also do they not want you to switch to windows? Literally could not create bootable windows 10 usb from macOS
Yes, its on them but not always enabled by default
That's just a you problem if you can't figure out how to work an .ISO file
No, Cant use Ethcher to make WIndows boot USBs
^
Only RUFUS and the Windows Media Creation Tool worked for me
lol etcher
Windows bootable drives need something specific, can’t use any normal program like etcher
does RUFUS have a Mac version?
Yeah that's how it's done, you really don't need any fancy crap
Did not work for me.
You can create botable drives with Disks
I guess it also formats it and sets it to the right format, but what else did you think it does
Wish macOS could run on custom PCs, and I could just install boot camp for when I need to use windows apps, otherwise not use windows.
meh, i dont miss it :p
osx pushes me into a style which i do not like. (also wtf happened with maximizing in osx??)
Good old dd
ah yes
Disk Destroyer :P
I just found a distro that just slaps Calamares Installer and Plasma desktop into an Arch Linux ISO and calls it a day
.-.
So just arch linux with plasma installed
when re you installing it?
Oh hey, it uses Xanmod kernel! That justifies it being its own distro! (sarcasm btw)
Isn't that all Arch distros though
What with it?
It goes fullscreen and moves into its own virtual desktop
What exactly goes full screen?
the app you maximise
Oh, makes sense.
make sense
IIRC, it maximises when you double click the titlebar
and it will fullscreen when you use the maximise button
yes i do, but i dont want it to go fullscreen
Try this @halcyon moss
maximising is not the same as full screen but on mac it sometimes is is the point
WAT and ppl call macosx userfriendly :p
Strange, does for me
yes it does! omg
aha
I just use super+f to force an window to go fullscreen and back.
And I dont even use MacOS :')
well made my wife happy with this knowedge
:D
How TF is a 43 inch 10-80P TV only $140 in America?!
wow
This video is from 2019 if that makes a difference
Probably because 1080p isn't a target here for many
4k hit and became affordable so people moved on
or because we once again have 0 context 🙄 is it one model, is it 5 dozen versions etc.
wtf is a 5 dozen version?
..
is it one for 140$ or are there like 60 versions at that price..
hdr at that pricepoint? O_o
we need a trigger that just screams CONTEXT whenever a certain someone speaks
yup..
This video is the only context I can provide
They went to best buy for a tV and found a 43 ich 1080 TV for 140 dollars
Our biggest video yet: building the ULTIMATE Nintendo Switch...with a twist.
The last ultimate Switch we built: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_ZxvxtUwus
The Nintendo Switch on Amazon: http://austin.tech/nintendoswitch
Huge shoutout to everyone who made this video possible!
Showrunner and editor: Josh Blackey
https://www.instagram.com/itsyab...
aha
its probably not terrible
element is another I think
Pretty much their margins is whatever the ads and user data are
user data?
I mean they're typically not on the same level as samsung or LG but it's a $140 TV so
from a TV?
then just wait until after the video if they mention it or say it's second hand/a returned version instead of asking us when we have even less context
unless you're real picky about something specific they're typically fine
Unless the store has a second hand version on the shelf, then its brand new
my 42" fhd from years ago is still fine
my 32 inch 768P TV with crackling speakers is still fine
we have very diff definitions of fine then
my god I'm listing just random points because I'm not going to watch the video but just wanted to show some points that could happen if you just wait for more info
ooh, that would not be fine my my book
I saw them buy the TV
i saw them unbox the TV
My prototype monitor is also still fine
IDK what else you want xcd
not crackling speakers
If you mute the volume, the speakers buzz and crackle
Unlkess its loud, they dont make tht buzzing noise
what about 0 volume?
same as muted
Get a pair of scisors as a single use mute
LOL
Watching a video made before covid is scaring me
I have the urge to be like NOO WEAR MASKL PLZ
STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE
Happened to me sometimes, but usually does not tbh, since I was outside so little during corona that I don’t have head completely full of people wearing masks. And since many people here unfortunately ignored it.
o.
Full face mask with all the filtering markings on them. hehe
Would need an breathing assistance system. Those filters are tough to breath through. But it will keep you safe from most chemicals you can be exposed to
Not that hard to breath through imo tbh.
The new Switch™️ Pro
Now with a 43 inch screen for maximum gaming
That's what she said
I mean, what do you do? Trouble shit?
Seems fine
is this yours? or from a youtube vid?
mine
idk where I got it from, found it in my storage box still in the plastic bag
imma take it to the hotel next week to use my Switch on the hotel room's TV
does it work?
id hope so
xd
My friend is bringing his Dock anyway
so yeah
But I am bringing mine for my room
Would be wise to test the thing beforehand
yes, just to see if it works at all
use your normal monitor? :p
is already connected with HDMI
and the port is under it
so its so awkward trying to get the port located without being able to see it
disconnect it :p
nah, too much effort
I plugged into into the TV
it works
I just cant stand to look at it cause its 768P and the aspect ratio is wrong
so the top and bottom edges get cut off
and no.... The TV doesnt let me change the aspect ratio over HDMI
I had the same issues on my Xbox but luckily on that, some games let you change the screen edges
and the Wii
Is the tv very old, as I have a hard time believing there is no stretch screen mode or similar?
There is
but not over HDMI
It only works over SCART of all things
Which the Sky box we had until a few months ago was running on
Pretty common for 2000s
Ah so it is old then
Wow
Some composite/vga monstrosity the French invented
Yeah it's great much better than the compositesvideocomponent mess people in some other countries might have had to deal with
Sounds like my first time
bruh

disgusting setup
not even the colors
just the perihperals themselves
can't remember when I last used SCART
That... is entirely putrid.
HDMI is basically SCART, but digital ecks dee
sad DisplayPort noises
Display port is nice
