I'll keep hodling my one bitcoin until the end of time dogekek

cursive summit
#

Eh fine, I'll start mining again

#

Guess I'll just console game

#

Which I despise

young pecan
#

Bruh, just mine nights.

#

You don't actually need to mine all of the time, just do it overnight.

cursive summit
#

Yeah but if I do earn something, I want to make it a "career"

crimson wigeon
#

And days when you're away from home when that becomes a thing again

young pecan
#

Then you need an investment, startup cap, Vexx.

#

Crypto isn't viable without starting funds, it doesn't snowball fast enough.

cursive summit
#

Lemme approach my university start up fund for a small loan of a million dollars lul

young pecan
crimson wigeon
#

Innovative business of mining useless cryptos that still don't do anything useful yet people value them because ????

#

Perfect

young pecan
#

Honestly, I'd suggest just mining for a few months and getting the hang of it, redo all of your math once a week to get a feel for things, do ALL of the research relating to everything blockchain, and then go for it.

crimson wigeon
#

Future currency of skyhigh fees

young pecan
#

Not certain on that. Eth 2.0 puts it in a very good position to become an actually traded currency.

cursive summit
crisp granite
crimson wigeon
#

Keep believing that meme currency that they rollback when things don't go as they hope

crisp granite
#

that's it, really

young pecan
#

But should Sharding and PoS happen it does put Eth in a good position to become fast enough to use.

ashen spindle
#

I believe eth will go somewhere when they find a way to remove those insanely high transaction fees

young pecan
#

Plus the general Layer 2 improvements... idk, there stands a good chance at validation nodes being cheap enough to actually have feeless transfers.

ashen spindle
#

and I dont see them fixing that ever kek

crisp granite
#

I see a few small issues with eth

crimson wigeon
#

Lightning network for eth will fix it!!

#

Just like it did for bitcoin!!!!

young pecan
#

Lmao

crisp granite
#

hard to track, hard to tax, not accepted as actual tender, blahblahblah

cursive summit
#

Bruh just plug an USB cable into it

#

No transaction fees

crisp granite
#

the standard shit that most would actually care about

young pecan
#

Really though a crypto used in the real world would have to be pinned to either a fiat or material.

#

USDC or something would be a halfway decent example.

#

Very much never gonna happen without it being fully backed and actually useful as far as speed/fees go.

#

Either way I stand to make absolute bank while the tech matures.

cursive summit
#

The source code for FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 will be coming to GPUOpen in mid July!

#

So it even has an official version name as well now

crimson wigeon
#

I quickly tried Riftbreaker, yep it works even on my R9 Fury so that's neat

cursive summit
#

FSR 2.0 when? lul

ashen spindle
#

cant wait for nvidia to silently add it to DLSS 3 without telling anyone

cursive summit
#

They probably will just repurpose the code ideas

young pecan
#

Wym? Nvidia wouldn't ever steal content for their own use without saying anything.

cursive summit
#

It works damn well for just a layer

young pecan
ashen spindle
#

I mean, depending on how dlss works they might literally just put it in as it is and tie it to the dlss setting, done

crimson wigeon
#

"DLSS Lite"

ashen spindle
#

and if it works, great, even better for consumers

#

just would be nice if they'd open it and add it to gameworks so all can use it

dry tendon
#

I dont like the placement of this on the UI

#

should not be in the Tuning utility

ashen spindle
#

wait wait wait thats now in the tool?

#

how is that not the biggest news about the new driver lmao

#

now I can actually use that and dont have to restart if I want to play apex

dry tendon
#

Devs should be forced to support ReBAR by default

ashen spindle
#

ehhh

#

I still havent found an article that actually breaks down how it works

#

so dont want to say that when it could be detrimental to something else

crisp granite
#

Devs should be forced to support <niche thing that few really care about> by default

ashen spindle
#

if niche thing is something that just improves fps all around, yes

dry tendon
#

Literally something every single Nvidja and AMD gpu support

#

If that is niche...

#

And all.future ones will support too

crisp granite
#

¯_(ツ)_/¯

ashen spindle
#

I mean, it can lead to pretty big performance regression in some cases

#

and till its clear that can be avoided entirely

#

im not too keen on pressing for it

crisp granite
#

it should be on dev's to do list, but also most definitely on the chopping block if it ain't working or they need resources elsewhere

dry tendon
#

It's ironic how many old games run well with SAM or ReBAR out of the gate but modern shit tier games sometimes suffer

crisp granite
#

my $0.02

young pecan
#

All devs should be using multicore and optimizing for it.

#

I do not care whatsoever what excuses there are, multicore is delicious.

#

More core more good. 👌

ashen spindle
#

given it should most likely be a default engine feature that shouldn't need further tweaking, unlike multithreading, rebar should be much further up on the list

crisp granite
#

well beyond that, actually

young pecan
#

And it's a tragedy.

crisp granite
#

64 delish hyperthreaded cores feelsgood

#

and I can only use 1 for a lot of games pepecry

young pecan
#

Apparently new AMD stuff is 128 Cores.

crisp granite
young pecan
#

Haven't seen that since the days of IBM making CPUs that mattered.

crisp granite
#

I just came in my pants

#

128 cores feelsgood

ashen spindle
young pecan
#

I mean...

#

Does it?

#

Could you class that as a CPU?

ashen spindle
#

I think it is classified as an AI cpu?

young pecan
#

I think CPU is a bad name.

#

Central processing unit.

#

Aren't those things supposed to be used in an array of them?

#

No central unit.

ashen spindle
#

I mean, are dual socket cpus not cpus either?

reef patrol
ashen spindle
#

I get the point but I think as long as they are the central point where the action happens, I think it fits

young pecan
#

Dual socket boards still use CPUs intended to fit in one socket.

#

Those things aren't even intended to be alone in a system.

#

So does that make them array processing units?

#

Central processing unit kinda implies it being the center of something. Doesn't make sense in the same way there's no central chiplet in a CCX.

ashen spindle
#

I would argue as long as they still do vector math and are the central piece of where the things run, its a CPU

#

GPU is obvious, DPU is broader but mostly for when its used for data and isn't the main focus of the computer

young pecan
#

Doesn't fit into DPU or CPU. :L

ashen spindle
#

I think what tenstorrent does with Graph computing is not a cpu anymore

#

lower dimensinal math I'd still call a CPU in most cases

#
  • they also have like a dozen ethernet ports directly to the chip interface for connecting more of them
#

but I'd not really stand my ground if someone wants to call it something else

young pecan
#

Idk.

#

Maybe just a PU with subsets of functionality?

#

We're not really in the days of having one kind of processing unit anymore.

#

That was the mid 80s.

ashen spindle
#

meh, I think cpu/dpu/gpu covers most and maybe one more for ML that we will get inevitably because marketing of some firm will make it happen

dry tendon
#

FSR works on GTX 900 and AMD 200 series GPUs too lol

crimson wigeon
#

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it works on basically everything

misty saffron
#

tbh

#

just like freesync

dry tendon
#

FreeSync requires Maxwell V1 GPUs and GCN2 GPUs at the least

misty saffron
#

likely because of video out

#

`The original FreeSync is based over DisplayPort 1.2a, using an optional feature VESA terms Adaptive-Sync.[9] This feature was in turn ported by AMD from a Panel-Self-Refresh (PSR) feature from Embedded DisplayPort 1.0,[10] which allows panels to control its own refreshing intended for power-saving on laptops.[11] AMD FreeSync is therefore a hardware–software solution that uses publicly-available protocols to enable smooth, tearing-free and low-latency gameplay.

`

dry tendon
#

Perhaps yeah. DId you know RDNA1 was supposed to have HDMI2.1 support but it was broken in-hardware XD

misty saffron
#

not a huge loss

#

hdmi is mostly only used for tvs anyways

dry tendon
#

Yeah but TVs are the only good displays in 2021

#

I know we talked about this before but fuck LCD

misty saffron
#

yeah i'd rather not use oled any time soon

#

burn-in is still an issue

#

though somehow phones just don't do that anymore

dry tendon
#

Burn in isnt an issue for the lifetime of the product iMHO

#

I think we jumped the 4-5 year gap

#

and the absolutely insane jump in all else is worth it

#

I want MicroLED to come out but I also wish LCD dies

ashen spindle
#

I don't care what comes I just want to finally have something that even makes sense to upgrade to that isn't 3x what I paid for my current one kek

dry tendon
#

I am prepared to pay up to 2000 EUR for a good OLED or MicroLED 4K 120 hz HDR 30" monitor

#

But it has to be good

#

Then I will be somewhat happy

crisp granite
#

😬

dry tendon
#

Until the realization that the reason I am unhappy has nothing to do with my material possessions and I finally end it with my old Hungarian Makarov

crisp granite
#

terribly relatable

ashen spindle
#

on one hand it's nice my 5 year old monitor still holds up well

#

on the other it's sad I can't find a justifiable update in 5 years lmao

crisp granite
#

¯_(ツ)_/¯

#

wait another 5

misty saffron
#

how are the new oled panels doing in terms of ghosting with blacks anyways

crisp granite
#

maybe something worth getting will be available then

#

I don't really see myself buying a new panel for at least...4-5 years

#

this 1080p IPS 144hz beast works wonders dogekek

#

and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg as well

misty saffron
#

only an arm

crisp granite
#

in fact, I think I spent more on my 2 HE than this panel pepesweat

misty saffron
#

that's why i'm disabled

ashen spindle
#

see thats why I prefer to pay with Risc-V over arm

misty saffron
#

this reminds me of the crab cpu meme

crisp granite
#

this panel was $300 with taxes, and I'm pretty sure my two HE will cost more than that even before caps, films and replacement stabs and lube

misty saffron
#

CLAW architecture?

ashen spindle
#

I'm sold

crisp granite
#

I love shellfish

#

I want that PC, just so I can steam it and eat it

ashen spindle
#

also iirc my monitor was 5x the price of a lekker kek

crisp granite
#

ouch

#

but, holding up 5 years later...that's great

ashen spindle
#

3440x1440p curved @100hz ips

crisp granite
#

damn

#

not bad at all

misty saffron
#

100 hz

#

ew

#

even my tv does 120

ashen spindle
#

at the time the only other option was 90 lmao

#

or less

misty saffron
#

thinking about it 120 is such a perfect number for tvs

#

24 fps, 30 fps, 60 fps content

#

all no problem

dry tendon
#

Yes it is perfect

#

I run my HFR monitors at 120hz, not 144

misty saffron
#

bro

dry tendon
#

I dont have a 165hz panel

#

Id still run 120 hz there

crisp granite
#

just realized I've been running my display at 60 hz for the past few weeks

dry tendon
#

but then again id go for 240hz if i wanted more

misty saffron
#

doge can't tell if you're blind or braindamaged

crisp granite
ashen spindle
#

I'm just sad the new samsung VA panels are not yet a thing for curved wqhd monitors

#

think that would be what I could upgrade to

crisp granite
#

doesn't matter tbh, the one game I played since then already has a 60 fps frame rate cap for whatever fucking reason

misty saffron
#

fallout 76 moment

crisp granite
#

step 1: uncap frame rate
step 2: look down
step 3:

dry tendon
#

VA > IPS > TN otherwise

ashen spindle
#

eh,, newer VA yes, older no

#

black smearing looks horrible

#

I'd take TN over it

dry tendon
#

Yes new VA of course

ashen spindle
#

has anyone aside from samsung made a VA panel without smearing yet or is expected to make one?

cursive summit
#

How are new VAs better than IPS?

#

Better blacks?

crisp granite
misty saffron
#

ok legitimate question

#

amg e-53 or 911 targa 4s

crisp granite
misty saffron
#

your mom

crisp granite
#

the cheaper, the better

#

spend no more than 19k rubles

misty saffron
#

the amg is quite a bit cheaper..

crisp granite
#

cheaper than that?

dry tendon
#

Better blacks and superior response times on VAs

misty saffron
#

no than the targa

dry tendon
#

ON the best ones

#

cause there is a lot of mediocre VA too

misty saffron
#

amg is much better in terms of tech but porsche design is so good

#

ugh

crisp granite

hollow

#

get something with a good suspension system

#

a track toy won't fare well on russian roads

misty saffron

jokes on you we have good roads

crisp granite

dry tendon

Good roads breed weak people. Weak people breed bad roads.

misty saffron

at least because i don't live in a village

crisp granite
dry tendon
#

I live in BUlgarias so our roads are a meme

misty saffron

roads in big cities are good

#

i'm moving to st petersburg in a month, roads there are good as well

moving hence need a new car

crisp granite

ah

misty saffron

as if there's choice in russia

crisp granite

¯_(ツ)_/¯

dry tendon

Just get a T-55

#

They are junk for combat anyway

crisp granite
#

are those even road legal?

misty saffron
#

i mean, you can get a tesla too, but that's just retarded

#

we have no ev infrastructure

crisp granite
#

same here

#

the one place I know I can charge up an EV is in one parking lot in my city's downtown core

#

but for whatever reason, those parking spots are always occupied by gasoline powered cars

🙄

misty saffron

yeah and in russia most people live in apartment complexes

crisp granite
reef tundra
# old marlin Most asians are lactose intolerant

Lactose tolerance is a recent mutation and most people are intolerant of lactose(somewhere in the 60% area). Probably mutated around Europe around 10000 years ago with the domestication of dairy animals.

#

Outside of Europe, Middle East and Northern Africa its unusual to be tolerant after childhood.

reef patrol
#

It's also not a binary thing.

#

A -LOT- of people have a mild intolerance and will never know.

reef tundra
#

Need to have the enzyme lactate to metabolise lactose and it gets consumed in the process. Full tolerance would need your body to replenish it faster than it gets used up

reef patrol

People are dumb. It's also why americans who come to europe suddenly don't have sickle cell... cause all they fucking needed was wholegrain bread 😄

That's the only other reasonable option.

Nothing else is even remotely consistent, even the raffles have millions of people waiting, you average months of waiting.

Either you wait for the GPUs to become cheap which is late 2022 at the earliest, or you spend heaps of money.

wheat plume

sometimes it uses names in one part of the line and sometimes it needs number

from my experience "none of this stupid bullshit works" always comes back to me not doing something right

reef tundra
#

welcome to javascript

young pecan
#

Bruh, I've been over this cancer already.

timid chasm
#

may be some funky shit with windows being involved too

young pecan
#

v14 works, but not v16.

#

What changed between those versions to cause this?

timid chasm
#

so keep v14 and forget 16

young pecan
#

I have to use v16.

halcyon moss
#

dir ?

#

package.json is valid and is all lowercase?

young pecan
#

It doesn't actually install package.json.

halcyon moss
#

dont -g unless you really want to have it system wide. (which usually you do not)

young pecan
#

package-lock.json gets installed, nothing else.

halcyon moss
#

is there a package.json.lock ?

#

or.. that

young pecan
#

Works flawlessly on v14, what flag am I missing for v16?

#

I see no reason v14 should work but v16 shouldn't.

#

Unless I'm missing a flag or something.

reef tundra
#

From all I hear about npn is how terrible it works

halcyon moss
#

package-lock.json are the pinned versions of what is installed from package.json

young pecan
#

This is exactly why I like hardware.

halcyon moss
#

npm works fine tbh, and i even dont like it :p

reef tundra
#

better than manually handling all the crap

young pecan
#

It fails to install package.json then alerts me to such by saying it doesn't exist. No shit.

halcyon moss
#

young pecan
#

Defo an existential crisis.

#

It's on Windows, it's suicidal by default.

reef tundra
#

what if you yeet that lock file?

young pecan
#

Same problem.

#

It just recreates the lock file and we're back to square 1.

halcyon moss
#

i dont see a package.json

#

this is what you got?

young pecan
#

Installs package-lock.json and then fails immediately before getting to install package.json.

reef tundra
young pecan
#

Utter cancer.

#

npm is now my most hated sotware in 6 months.

#

Does v16 just not install a package.json for reasons I guess?

halcyon moss
young pecan
#

Even though v14 does?

halcyon moss
#

tldr: npm ci

young pecan
#

npm can go die.

halcyon moss
#

you dont seem to have a package.json and only a pacakge-lock.json

reef tundra
#

That would be an easy task... btw never had the honour to use the mess other than letting pacman deal with it

halcyon moss
#

@young pecan is it downloading the internet yet?

young pecan
#

Lmao

halcyon moss
#

aka, did that work?

reef tundra
#

The entire internet?

#

thats a lot of bits

halcyon moss
#

it is what npm does very well

young pecan
#

sigh Fucking npm.

#

Right, so why doesn't v16 install package.json and package-lock.json with npm install like v14 does?

reef tundra
#

Dont fuck it, if you hate it blobfacepalm

halcyon moss
#

eh, they changed it i guess

#

who knows! ¯_(ツ)_/¯

reef tundra
#

Just like javascript will do sometimes

young pecan
#

And of course applied shit all documentation anywhere. Cool.

#

Pogn't.

halcyon moss
#

javascript is actually quite stable because they need to support everything from the past

#

just.. sooo many new additions

young pecan
#

There you go.

#

npm ci does nothing.

halcyon moss
#

sooooo whomever you got this frommight be able to help

reef tundra
#

One day its depreciated, the other its not anymore, maybe its depreciated the next version and depreciate it again. 🤷‍♂️

That an thing that i have seen happen in javascript once. posts of just yea it works again and nah m8 depreciated in new verion

young pecan
#

ci is supposed to take package-lock.json and generate the other file, no?

halcyon moss
#

dont think ill generate it

reef tundra
#

Dont remember exactly what it was again. but did remember the joy of having to share that with the boys

young pecan
#

Fuck this.

#

Fuck this and fuck v16.

#

v14 is now my best friend.

reef tundra
#

😳

#

when is the marriage?

young pecan
#

v16 doesn't get one of those.

reef tundra
#

Cant even get their installing up

#

Missing the AMD on that list

#

Asus motherboard don't have the best reputation around.. I believe hardware support and bios being the biggest pains

young pecan
#

Aaand shocker.

#

npm from Node 14 works fine.

#

Of course.

#

778?!!?

#

LMFAO WOT?

reef tundra
#

What if you only remove the case? The volume might be the factor; or weight, or how much they dislike something

dry tendon
#

Locke generally dislikes AMD parts. So he will have them missing. Honestly, Intel is nice if lower priced

#

Even if its EXTREMELY slow in old games lul

reef tundra
#

The power consumtion of intel newest cpus just consume too much for my likeing

ashen spindle
#

better hope you then dont get the same issue bexin got with his rocket lake board that got both bios corrupted kek

reef tundra
#

Then get a TI-84plus calculator

young pecan
#

Weirdly enough I've found Intel the less stable team.

#

Other than their old stuff like the 2600, though.

#

Idk. As of late their quality seems to have slipped.

#

shrugs I'm just bored and putting off hammering my face into npm some more.

#

Huh. Haven't had that myself.

#

What're the issues?

#

Barely any.

reef tundra
#

Also how can you determine it to be representive data. Maybe intel users dont use discord as much?

young pecan
#

Could also be that a LOT of gamers are updating to Ryzen and a lot of them are on Discord since it's the best software for chats and such.

reef tundra
#

Intel also has their official forum

young pecan
#

That too.

zenith sonnet
#

That's because nobody really buys intel any more... AMD have like 85% or so of the DIY market ...

ashen spindle
dry tendon

IDK, current gen Ryzen is stable. Ryzen 1000 was rough but X99 launch was worse. People just dont remember cause memory = fail in most tech sites

reef tundra

I regret my X99...

ashen spindle

dry tendon

I had a 3770 non-K on my brother's PC

#

#

massive upgrade

#

but Ivy was nice yes

#

I loved Haswell. Which is literally 6% slower per clock than Skylake

reef patrol
#

Who would have thought pushing your hardware half a decade forward would help 😄

reef tundra
#

Wait what?

#

what if you upgrade from the floppy disk then?

#

What did you change?

dry tendon
#

I dislike Intel's B560 and Z590 mobos tbh. Inferior to B550 and X570 in general

reef tundra
#

Prices are pretty inflated right now. Prices might be better in a year(hopefully)

dry tendon
#

If you could wait you can wait for 2nd gen DDR5 platforms

#

Eww consoles

#

Id rather quit gaming forever than use a console

reef tundra
#

Shipping seems to be exorbitantly expensive right now. But if you willing to pay for it at that price, thats your right.

dry tendon
#

What new games do you even want to play though?

reef tundra
#

Youtube's compressor has never been good with dark videos

#

Maybe you would like Xenonauts

dry tendon
#

You can just lower settings I think

#

No idea idk what your current hardware is 😦

reef tundra
#

dry tendon
#

Ive seen people who NEVER go under Ultra

#

no matter what

#

Oh that is fairly low end

young pecan
#

Just get a 3090 and put it in an external box. Kappa

#

Actually such a waste.

dry tendon
#

Get a B550 + 5600X combo and a 3080 or 6800 XT I think it is a better idea overall

#

since the 3060 Ti is slightly above a PS5 in capability

#

and the 11700K will not last a whole console gen (of course neither will the 5600X but the 5900X will)

#

Are 6800s cheap where you are? they are 3060 Ti prices here

young pecan
#

At what price?

dry tendon
#

Still overpriced though...

young pecan
#

I guess you're never getting a GPU, then. :L

reef tundra
#

Cloud gaming is also not an option with your network, atleast from thats what I remember you complain a lot about

young pecan
#

Not for ages.

#

@reef tundra Net is too slow for something like Shadow.

#

4790?

reef tundra
#

4790 is a little too vague

dry tendon
#

4790 a Devil's Canyon CPU

#

oh yeah.

#

It was AMD

#

It had ATI branding

#

I had the 5770

#

HEre is my 5770 Batmobile

young pecan
#

If I were rich as fuck I'd give out a bunch of GPUs.

dry tendon
#

I wouldnt say skullfucking Nvidia = competition lol

young pecan
#

Still so poor, tho. :L

dry tendon
#

It was a clear cut win mostly . The opposite of some of the past few years

#

I want nigh-equal not one stomping the other

#

ATM I think its a good situation overall with RDNA2 vs Ampere

reef tundra
#

I'd does bring some innovative stuff on the market but Nvidia is feeling invincible or something

young pecan
#

Oh no, no no.

#

Companies love that word...

#

So long as it's not applied to anyone but them.

reef tundra
#

DLSS and FSR are not competitors to be quite realistic. They work fundamentally diffent (and can even run together?not sure)

young pecan
#

Can't have anyone else getting value out of you, that's unacceptable.

#

Gouge the wallets!

reef patrol
#

Ultimately it'll be a question of how good FSR is compared to DLSS. And how much money is put into exclusives.

#

If nVidia ends up bribing all of the AAA studios to block FSR, then FSR will have a hard time dealing.

reef tundra
#

Amd has the huge advantage of being on consoles and licence being cheaper

reef patrol
#

I don't really see console owners being a factor. They're getting whatever they're getting anyway. PC is the battlefield for who gets to survive.

dry tendon
#

I dont know Locke

reef patrol
#

But of course having FSR there means more resources into dev. Which could help FSR out...as long as nVidia doesn't lock them out 😄

dry tendon
#

RX 6800 is an easy ROFLstomp vs 3070 Ti.
6700 XT needs a cut price
6800 XT has more VRAM, is nowadays just as fast as a 3080 at 4K and slightly faster at 1440p and doesnt suck at PC Game modding
6900 XT is a meme so is 3080 Ti and 3090

#

I do think 6800 XT vs 3080 = equal choice

#

6800 vs 3070 Ti = COmplete AMD victory no questions asked

#

6700 XT vs 3060 Ti or 3070 = I lean Nvidia strongly due to too high price on 6700 XT

reef tundra
#

Why bother implementing dlss if fsr works on both patforms and does the job good enough. Nvidia is not a stranger to bribing and trying to get exclusivity though.

dry tendon
#

Well consider this. The 3070 Ti is a 4K class chip that stutters sometimes even at 1440p due to too little VRAM

#

IMHO a fail

#

same for 3070 tbh

#

3060 Ti I allow it

#

I said 1440p too though. And gaming

#

if you are at 1080p then 8gb is still fine I agree, especially if you dont mod

#

Though RDNA2 has a small edge there sometimes

#

Fair. So if you are at 1080p a 3060 Ti will do well

#

but I hope you see my reasoning above. I think I am fair

#

Oof.

#

DLSS 2.2 ghosting actually

#

This is why I personally dont use FSR or DLSS. Only native.

#

Yes. Exactly.

reef tundra
#

Nah dont worry retrowave man its intentional

wheat plume
#

Hot take:

I prefer high details and crispy graphics in a cartoony, mariokart like style than low res and muddy ultra realistic style

reef patrol
#

Well.. "mod"

dry tendon
#

It doesnt fix it. In some games it helps though.

#

The dll for DLSS 2.2 helps but its just not enough

reef patrol
#

But to each their own of course.

dry tendon
reef patrol
#

This is where FSR technically wins out. Cause it's all human. No AI.

reef tundra
#

Then go 4k. Go big or total slideshow

reef patrol
#

However DLSS can find optimizations a human might not 😄

dry tendon
#

I am one of those people who have mastered the ancient art of waiting

#

cursive summit
#

@ashen spindle

#

I need your opinion

#

I read that graphics in general look better on AMD than Nvidia cards

ashen spindle
#

bullshit

#

comes up everytime either brand makes some changes to default settings in driver or so

wheat plume
#

dont see how thats possible

dry tendon
#

Not true

reef tundra
#

That sounds like a colour misconfiguration or something

dry tendon
#

at same settings for monitor / screen it will be the same

#

Only if you change them will NV or AMD have better or worse

ashen spindle
#

if you see a difference it's from different base settings in drivers which shouldn't be the case, for example if you mess with the rgb spectrum in the control panel

#

whenever someone vehemently states that position and wants to convince you its true, you just found the most obvious sign you are talking to an extreme fanboy

cursive summit
#

Dunno I read how a guy bought a 3080, and a 6800XT, and the games visibly looked better on 6800XT

reef tundra
#

Proving the case would be easy to do. Same monitor, no special settings, and directly compare results directly.

dry tendon
#

Then something on his settings got borked

ashen spindle
#

^

#

if it even is true

reef tundra
#

You can also take a picture with identical setup and directly subtract them from eachother in photoshop or something..

ashen spindle
#

sounds like some sharpening filter was activated/deactivated from not a proper driver removal or something along those lines

#

or the monitor has some pseudo smart thing and changes what color mode it uses on default if its on hdmi or dp input etc.

cursive summit
#

Tbh isn't the FidelityFX suite quite good for enhancing image quality?

ashen spindle
#

yeah it's ok, same for nvidias overlay filter thing

reef tundra
#

Also keep in mind the human mind is involved

ashen spindle
#

quite decent in some cases, doing nothing in others

#

after all, if they would show different pictures when the shader is the same, that would require them to do the math vastly differently and that would result in a mess and not generally worse/better pictures lol

reef tundra
#

Just your idea of the object can change how you experience something. This is common to see in candy, the colour changes how we taste them differently

cursive summit
#

Like for me I love sharpening being really strong

#

I guess my 1080p display prefers that

#

Others kinda hate "oversharpened" images

if you ignore all the hate
He is basically saying that it is better to start writing in a plain text editor so you arent distracted by formatting and texzt size and font and whatnot

Like how you build a website, all the HTML and function and then the CSS to make it look good

dry tendon
#

it will be easier that way for yourself

ashen spindle
#

yes but you see, on linux there is VIM and that is the godlike entity you should write in and not use anything else because its not needed

wheat plume
#

:')

#

he no longer uses Vim

#

He use Emac's ORG mode

Betrayal

wheat plume
#

:')

ashen spindle
#

I really dont care, I wasn't even sure if he even uses linux

#

but that just further proves my point

wheat plume
#

Thats why I said ignore the hate for Microsoft xd

ashen spindle
#

but even then it's obvious he's not looking at word from the standpoint of people it was made for

wheat plume
#

I agree with his core argument
Text first
Formatting later

ashen spindle
#

sure but then maybe the video should say that and not be the hidden meaning of it

reef tundra
#

If formatting is a concern use latex

wheat plume
#

He does suggest latex

reef patrol
#

I genuinely don't know a single soul who does what this guy claims.

#

Closest I can think of is when schools have demands for line density, font size and a total word count.

#

You gotta spend maybe 30 seconds on this - Because it saves you time later.

reef tundra
#

Those or mostly for readability reasons or minimal amount of content

dry tendon
#

I find formatting fun since its basically optimization for aesthetics

ashen spindle
#

and the biggest issue is people not using it correctly for school, instead of setting it up once and then have it ready as a template, everyone just starts from default settings for every new text

dry tendon
#

but I am a moron so IDK

#

also - templates

#

ah quin said it

crisp granite
dry tendon
#

I understand him being annoyed at DocX

#

This I get

#

but the rest I dont really get

reef tundra
dry tendon
#

Ive used Libre and Word. Honestly... for a noob like me they are equal. I just use Word cause I install it on most PCs since my parents cant use other Office apps

ashen spindle
#

what he means to say I agree with, how he says it and makes the video, nope, please go back to your linux cave and leave me alone

wheat plume
#

ye

reef tundra
#

Word processors suck at dealing with images and text :)

reef patrol
ashen spindle
#

yea it definitely is partly to blame on teachers not making that a clear point

wheat plume

The founder edition cards are the best looking ones

young pecan
#

I half agree.

reef tundra
#

Self contridicting

young pecan

The same company making the waifu cards makes a bunch of other ones.

They have some pretty cool designs.

dry tendon

I prefer the previous gen card's looks

reef tundra
#

I prefer it be in stock

wheat plume

I only see my card if I open my pc

young pecan
#

This kind of shit I would love to make a return to PC components.

dry tendon
#

And nowdays Turing Reference grew on me

young pecan
#

Being able to see all of the internal components. I did always like that.
