but can it do this
New IDE standard that carries power.
are you sure? dont mistake 12pin with 12VO
IDE for everything.
IDE was so dumb.
240 ac, fire is a feature
IDE had such poor shielding that your 40pin devices would actually run faster with an 80pin cable... because every other wire was blank and caused less noise.
PoE the graphics card, lmfao...
miners would love it
just do all over one cable, no board needed
one chad cable that has PoE+++++++++++++++++ for 300W

PoE++++++++++ Chad Edition.
I can get behind it.
Fuck 12 pin, fuck 8 pin, fuck all the pins.
All we need is PoE+++++++++++, nothing else.
oh and do you want to see my next magic trick?
Intel will love it.

Ayy lmao
Mine on it.
It's actually so good for anything not based on Ethash.
Just a cheap boi 3090.
nah that one goes to a colleague
because I was in the middle of a meeting with him and a 3rd guy and just was like "hold on, stop, im busy for a minute I need to get this now"
Lmao
New month, new hardware survey
1060 on a steady decline
Weirdly enough there is still a lot of quad cores around
I'm guessing those are people stuck on 4790/6700/7700?
yeah expected a bigger loss xD
volume just isn't there
volume is the only reason intel isn't at half of their current sales
what sku were you looking at
was gonna say if its below that they wont get a 3d cache version anyway most likely
idk assuming you are also getting a recent gpu I dont think "zen3+" will make sense to wait for
after all there will always be something better soon
@prisma crag I think it really depends on whether you want the AM4 or AM5 platform
oh also, who says zen3D will be easy to get, might be you need to wait ever longer for that to get available in your region
so I'd just get what you can get now
worst case you can still just upgrade a year later or so as its on the same motherboard socket
¯_(ツ)_/¯ just laying out your options
I understand that it's going to be on the new socket
There's currently no information on whether 3D cache Zen will be on AM4 or AM5
It might be
Zen 4 is expected mid/late 2022
That's a long time to cover
It's entirely possible, yes
Kek
AMD Advantage having a good start
They'll never get this right, won't they?
Highest settings
is that with RTX ON
That's a feature not supported by all entries in the list, so obviously not
man something I realised
I could try if I can continue Nier with one of the gpus before I send it away lmao
or if the bios is just breaking regardless of gpu
Doit
No
The problem here is that the iGPU can't be disabled
Thus taking platform power away
Also, poor memory
They used bad memory?
uhh if the system is drawing power limit and it lowers the powerdraw cpu/gpu can have I guess
I haven't looked what they used exactly
But it's poor enough that these two changes result in a 15-20% difference
its software issues caused by moving data around not the power usage of the igp
amd doesnt count the igp as part of the cpu power usage anyways
very disappointed in the asus rog strix b550i gaming whatever its actual name is
the io plate just doesnt fit at all
Wdym doesn't fit lol
lol
MS flight simulator uses a way to temporary store downloaded files into your RAM, so it can download faster or something. Maybe epic does the same?
what
are you downloading UE5 or just from having it open?
Maybe it should not hog memory like that
I remember it had a bug on amd systems but that has been fixed a while ago
cmon epic get a hang of your simple store
You mean like... every game ever does? 😄
i mean yea, but they're using a new technique for it, which cuts download and install time in half. it is a dutch article. I can translate it if you want. But it just says that it doesn't use the internet connection, storage device and processor at the same time. But downloads files, saves chunks on the RAM and slowly moves that to the correct storage device.
This process is not used in for example EGS or Steam
This move might not surprise too many, but it does show that Nvidia can still be caught off guard by AMD, even when Team Red announced the arrival of the mobile RDNA 2 dGPUs half a year ago. On top of this, AMD might not even come up with a decent supply of RX 6000M dGPUs due to the ongoing chip shortages.
Oh god are they making more anti-consumer moves
Can they just collect one braincell to not
I think this is why I will never get an Nvidia card
No matter how many features they put into their cards, unless AMD completely falls off and stops making good products
Nvidia will never be in my system
Nvidia is actively trying to be the villan in the situation
I can't support egregious business decisions just cause "money"
Think of the consumers pls
Are they beginning to panic enough to just hope governments are going to safe their downfall?
What do they even have anymore apart from GPUs?
I don't think their autonomous driving is going anywhere
arm, mellanox, DPUs
Arm isn't really part of their company yet, no?
UK throwing jabs at that whole ordeal
yea but read again what you said which country throws a hissy fit and how they are doing currently in terms of global politics
Eh?
nvidia said they went into the deal expecting it to not close before end of next year
This shit should get fined massivly
ASUS ROG STRIX G15 Advantage Edtion is underperforming due to lack of MUX switch and low-quality stock ram AMD has partnered up with ASUS to launch its flagship Radeon RX 6000M graphics card with a special high-end gaming laptop called ROG STRIX G15. Exactly this notebook has been sent out to many reviewers for a […]
Thats how innovation happens by crippling eachother \s
Product is expected to work
well, yes but the entire warranty law works differently
so they are not directly illegal/void (heh) but you also dont instantly lose warranty when you break them
it has to be provable the user caused the problem and not the device being defective
well, in the UK it might be different now that they left hehe
I see. So there is hope.
Since it isn't a problem. I just fixed the product but removed all 3 such stickers
And now it works as expected
But I am always worried that if I resell it some mofo will whine that his warranty won't work or something
Which is a fair thing to be worried about but still.
Damn, I misread those graphs earlier
That's a much larger difference
33% more FPS
yeah I wouldn't worry, if you clean remove it or at least dont make a big picture of the broken sticker I doubt anyone even notices it lmao
And they did not even swap out the bad memory for good memory, they just swapped it for mediocre memory
It kinda feels bad that you even have to buy new mem modules for your brand new mega expensive product
Well, some GOOD memory would make an even larger difference
Faster memory is still faster, even if unsupported
who cares about a little crashing
OEM warranty people care
Not gigabyte or msi
Premium asus service™
a__S U S__
my GPU, mobo and disk drive is asus
(not fangurl, totally not)
That is a very very nice aesthetic
well, that probably means it is here to stay
im so confused
how is that a "important win for amd"
consoles use AMD chips, when FSR was first mentioned it was said it will also work on consoles
not like they could use DLSS for that nor is it something the console itself would implement but the devs?
The more it's used, the more resources are put into it.
Xbox version uses it? PC port probably will too.
yes devs need to implement it. if the consoles can use it too, they probably will, wich means a larger push to use the tech
yeah, but it's half a year old news, they already told us this at CES and again, it's the game devs who would put that in not microsoft/sony so im just very confused by that article
oh yeah.. well.. maybe its just a marketing push
In other news. Finally found a solution to my Chrome troubles.
Had to uninstall it, reinstall a slightly older build, and then force-kill all of the Chrome update files, so it doesn't get it back 😄
I mean, the "4k60" claims they all had on release were bullshit anyway
the hardware just cant do it
neither console has a 5700xt though
The hardware can do it, just the trade-off is too large, resulting in a better image quality at a lower resolution + upscaling.
Especially when you use an average 55inch tv from 2-3m away.
Tbh having quite a good 27” IPS monitor has kinda make me want to have something like OLED even more. The blacks, especially during night just look more like gray than black, and are very noticeably non black.
The contrast OLED phones screens have compared to LCD screens is just crazy
i need some help for my home network setup
my cable modem is on a different floor, so i'm using powerline adapters right now
i've determined that the powerline connection is very unreliable in terms of bandwidth and latency, and sometimes it will just disconnect outright
my modem is actually an "all in one device" and has a 1733 mbps 802.11ac access point, so i'm thinking about getting some sort of wifi to ethernet "adapter" and a gigabit switch
what are the keywords to search for? amazon is filled with buzzwords and the only thing i can find are usb-connected wifi adapters
or maybe a router that can work as an "extender"?
Turn the brightness down to 120 cd/m²
We know?
With basically no ambient light it does not really change much tbh
access point
i personally have good experience with uiquity stuff, the unifi accesspoints
Is it that Eve?
anyone know of a way to change the region setting of just 1 app in win10
Are there reviews out yet? How'd you make sure to hit ~120 cd/m²?
Huh. That'd be good to know
mainly have the issue that my pc is set to US so most apps know i want english as the default lang
but xbox app is shit
and thinks im sitting in the US now
sadly doesnt put everything on english
What does not?
especially win uwp apps
I have the opposite problem
Fucking Amazon.de won't remember my custom language preferences set to German
And always reverts to English
thats why I set my region to england so I still get english because I had no luck figuring that out
And I hate it
sadly wont help cause xbox app store checks paypal region and store region
ah rip
And here I was hoping we would go for nuclear batteries next
Lithium ain't going anywhere anytime soon
Yes, but also have some other IPS screens, and all of them just don’t have real blacks. Also the reason why less brightness won’t change much is mainly that since the max brightness will also be lower eyes just adjust to lower overall brightness and see the black which is still in the same : contrast ratio as not much darker. This changes a lot with more ambient light, but in my room there is really basically non
i heard eve, what alliance?
Well, graphene may replace it to some extend sooner or later. Also solid state batteries.
unless different eve...
IPS glow is a thing, sure. My lG has a lot of IPS glow
But you can still affect it
Different one
sadge
IPS glow is not really an issue, the issue is contrast of basically all Ips Panels being 1:1000 - not enough
Mine's at ~1:800
But contrast isn't static across the entire brightness range
And isn't static to ambient light
The thing is that even with almost no noticeable IPS glow, even the lowest brightness on basically all IPS or LCD panels has noticeably gray blacks. Well, maybe apart from dual layer lcd
just have all your screens really low brightness and a strong orange tint, your eyes will thank you
That will just strain your eyes more
Based on ambient light is imo better than low brightness for eyes tbh
Keep it close to ambient brightness
very easy to irl flashbang me with white webpages
The issue is that with room facing forest and living in place with basically no light sources around ambient light is very very low
But yeah I got so used to dark mode white pages also sometimes flash bang me
It is bit confusing but eve is also company which makes some tech products, so yeah that’s why different eve
its kinda annoying as some pdfs or diagrams just dont work on dark mode so they hurt
but yeah oled screens are really nice, just not really worth for gaming on
i have 2 really tiny oleds, like 1.3" or something each
OLED screens are even pretty good for gaming, with really low time for pixels to change colors
i was referring to the monetary cost vs other display techs
Could even have 1000hz OLED no problem. Just burn in. Really hope there will be something like micro led with smaller leds, like QNED soon. Infinite contrast is just great.
From all I have read recently, the do not have a lower signal to photon response time than LCD monitors
Micro LED will not scale to small enough subpixels, and if it did, it would have the same burn in issue that OLED has.
The issue is energy density. The only way to fix that is more efficient self emissive materials.
Organic LEDs are very good already, and we are inching closer to 2nd generation blue subpixel - and blue is the big issue (blue light is the most energetic).
Quantum dots have much higher efficiency, so you don't need to drive as much power to get equivalent light output.
But, again we are still stuck on blue quantum dot... we already have working red and green self emissive quantum dots.
Yeah QNED will hopefully one day be the solution
Sapphire is quite god
White Xbox one x looks so much better compared to black version
If you want deep blacks pretty sure there is display that does a great of that without being OLED and not being offangle too much. Yes it even looks great in the dark and to notice blooming you would really need to come up close. It is a TV but once that technology trickles down would be simple to find a monitor with it in time.
It even does not have even close as much dimming zones as the new ipad pro.
just sold both of my 1050tis for twice the price i bought them for in autumn
great investment
New twitch app UI kinda sucks
Depends, with OLED they are
There are many 120hz OLEDs, even 240hz would be possible
..Only reason there are not more of them atm is that apart from small phone screens and big TVs focus is more on resolution and image quality since price and burn in
OLED as technology has no issue with high refresh rate, great response times too
What does that have to do with it being possible?
Literally phone with 240hz OLED was released
phones are just a slightly different size then most monitors
Probably not, but it goes back to lcd fundamentally.
Just because its not made doesnt mean it cannot be done.
arent oled high refreshrates on phones quite a recent thing?
and screen size is relevant when it comes to refresh rate and such
^
Again, just saying OLED has no issues with high refresh rate itself, just price and burn in causes around 27” OLEDs usually not made
if oled had no issue why do those screens not exist yet
You will wear the organic material much faster
USB-C should be able to carry the video data. So just need the firmware support to do that
Price and burn in because of low lifetime of OLEDs.
Not really, DP 1.4 goes up to 4K 98hz 10bpc. Currently HDMI 2.1 has highest bandwidth. Released DP 2.0 could even allow 4k240 10bpc but no one made controllers for it yet
That would be a pretty useful feature
Theres this lenovo tablet that has a hdmi in..
china price is around 500 usd
well that thing i quite specced!
https://tweakers.net/i/Ng_fxBbzkwBhyrTm5hTa66onqu4=/i/2003733856.jpeg
this is kinda cool though
Does anyone have good suggestions for mice to go with this keyboard
My current mouse is a Basilisk V2, I like it a lot but I'd love to switch off Razer entirely
Never heard of it
Logitech
That is so.. barely useful
It's priced at competitive 1440p desktop monitor prices
Like it's small n all, but only FullHD
Not even a chip inside to run tablet mode
The Basilisk is highly comfortable for my very large hands
Depends on what you want, you can ask Pronin#9999 he knows a good deal on mice
I run Basilisk x hyperspeed
Handcrafted
3 dollar mouse
Carbon fiber
Try the glorious mouse or something @gilded oriole
So expensive because it can
Probably about as light it can get without going full on beehive
Viewsonic still exists?
Are you sending it to space or something
Zaunkoenig M2K in a nutshell: the lightest gaming mouse in production (just 24 grams), ceramic coated wheel and driverless 8,000 Hertz.
Why would I ever use this
it does look quite pog tbh
What kind of price is this for
I'd get it
That panel sounds like 299 at most
Because you are NASA and need to save on fuel costs
Not budget costs just fuel
for mice, 150 is my limit
1k polling rate lags my system, mine is always set at 500
are you playing on a single core wtf
single core with ht!
I have an i5 8600
No matter how many cores some games have issues with 1khz
GTX 1060 6 gb
This
Single core with triple threading
It always lagged Titanfall 2 for me for some reason
Usually Minecraft, paradox games..
Tbh most mouses can do variable polling, and Glorious model O should as well
And that is an actually good mouse
no matter how many cores garbage code will be garbage code
ftfy
Yeah the m2k looks like shit to me for some reason ngl
Nope, stilll have it
Just get the Glorious O then
Anyways what kind of mouse are you looking for lightweight, heavy, wireless what is the criteria?
They have actually implemented it, worked fine before 1.13 but 1.13 and higher have that issue
Something for big hands with a thumb rest
The Basilisk V2 is great for me
That's why I've been sticking with it
logitech mx master
Heh
Logitech g703 hero is imo great.
Your mom
i need a new one, this one's scrollwheel is going to shit
are you talking about 1k polling rate for mice or keyboards
Mice
the european fieldmice
huh, i have a rival 310 and have no issues
I guess g502 is the original mouse of that shape, but not gonna call Logitech great. If you want a big mouse maybe look at the swiftpoint z if you are not afraid of spending around $150 it is quite big and has a pinky/ring rest even
The model O doesn't list being able to change your poll rate
I also dislike wireless mice
I have to charge them
It annoys the fuck out of me
At that point just give me a wire
But constantly charging them is not?
Logitech has the powerplay thing too
I would rather have a long cord that I can run behind my desk than something I have to remember to plug in every time I'm done with it
Mousemat that charges, and comes with thing you put in mouse, that more Logitech mouses are compatible with
They can last a month
That actually sounds doable actually
You could actually mod many mouses to work with powerplay
@gilded oriole https://www.swiftpoint.com/store/swiftpoint-z-mouse
charge up in an hour
Wireless charging mice would be cool
Since it has typical 5V output
are rog mice any good
Some mouses and mousepads even have wireless charging no matter where you put it on the mousemat
Okay now THAT sounds epic
I'd use that
AAAAAAAAA
But my philosophy is "the less I have to remember, the better"
Was thinking about moding the weight add thing on g703 hero to put qi charging there instead ti not have to use cable every time, since powerplay is pretty expensive
the amount of interference they emit
Logitech powerplay
Also there was razer alternative but that didn’t have battery at all
I'm
Not really, it is like 0.5A at5v if I remember correctly
2.5w lol
For mouses you usually don’t get more no matter if it’s qi or not
Well it makes sense to use it for a MOUSE
The mouse itself consumes max 10mw, 2.5w charging…
Mouses
Ya dang kids need to learn basic word conjugation. They're mice, not mouses, meese or mooses. :dogekek:
my mouse has 500mA battery and lasts a month or two with that

There we go
i wonder what motherboard would actually output 500mA max from 2.0 ports
lol
Usually all
Mousii
Also usb 3.1 usually has 10w or even more
if they implemented it correctly it should have a poly fuse at 700mA
Did I miss any suggestions in those links
I'm very much interested in the Swiftpoint ngl

But newer standards raise those limits
how do you justify a $180 mouse
Yeah 100w charging on my monitor is great, need to have only one cable plugged in my MacBook Pro
It can do anything you want, very detailed macros, tilit/pivot and analog presses
Also good button layout
But partial holes are alright
Not fully cut through extrusion
@gilded oriole this exists too but it very watered down no OLED and no analog tilt/pivot. It still has in depth macros and only left mouse and left fingertip buttons have a force sensor underneath them. An option if you feel like you do not need so many features and want to save a bit of money. https://www.swiftpoint.com/store/tracer-mouse/
Just get a hammer and disregard the mouse all together
$20
Based
Which is kind of disappointing but if you wait a while you can get the Z mouse at a discount
What the fuck, at that point just get the better one and disable the features you don't like lmao
Yeah strange to me too
If you're already spending that much, 20 bucks is NOT a significant difference
Finalmouse....

Mmmhm German quality
roccat is designed in germany
They flew the designers out to germany
"& made"
ik their PM is pushing to get production out of china but it is not really viable
the designer is a german guy
I like my kone pro as well, the public ones are a lot better than mine though

yea like twice the price
if not more
like just for manufacturing
Germans are unable to make bad things
you would have to add in the custom sourcing routes etc
for uncommon parts
- chip shortage raises prices
I have to make sure to not accidentally make a shelf

More details to come soon, probably 60-65%
69%
They said the 60% wristrest was meant for both 60-65%
None of the percentages make much sense either, like a 65% has around 60% the keys on a 104 key keyboard
0%

We have gone full circle
But why. I have the money for a normal table
keyboards have at least 88 keys
Could be 65%
We will not know for a short while
Also custom cases
Not just a regular wooting keyboard
man
thank god delidding is not needed for decent temps anymore lol
will be interresting how both amd and intel sockets look like start of next year
alder lake supposedlty is more rectangular and am5 is going upwards with extra holding
inb4 noctua ships free brackets xD
They will, as has always been
think to remember noctua already said that they are under NDA for specifics but will have brackets for alder lake
I recently got free brackets for a NH-D14 purchased in 2012
To make it AM4 compatible
Lol
I hate that cpus are like phones now
Every year a new one makes you regret your purchase a year before
XD
gotta disagree on not just one but two points there
if it would take 5 years for a 19% improvement instead of 16 months we'd probably still not have 140hz
and especially if you go above 1080p any cpu from the last 5 years does the job good enough
I mean, on adding more cores sure
I feel like nvidia held back also
but they certainly didn't delay 10nm on purpose for so many years that 2 CEOs quit over it

Tbh, 3080Ti is actually damn good rn.
Literally a 3090 in performance for mining without the dual sided NAND at 100c thing.
Everyone was saying wow the GPUs are amazing etc and performance increase is insane but in reality it was mainly pricing
Quite pog.
Sure, for literally anything that isn't content creation or mining.
the only people who said that are nvidia and r/nvidia maybe
Nah lots of people did man
noone else said its good
Oh
I guess apparently Linus said it's good which is just beyond my understanding
3080 ti
Thing is it is good for very certain applications.
Mining happens to be one of them.
Mining doesn't give a fuck about only having 12 gig VRAM, the core still hashes like nothing else other than a 3090.
It hits 3090 speeds for less cost, way less cost.
Which brings the ROI waaaaaay down. Very pog.
Laughs in scalper
idk 1200/1500 is close enough for a 10% improvement over a 700 card
to be considered bad pricing
Sorry but like
who needs connections if you just find a way to get them on MSRP because you trick the bot protection
Why bother? I get em sub MSRP because I intercept them before they hit shelves.
No boost in price if the shop doesn't get to make it happen.
Yeh, but not for mining. :D
Idk how you can justify that difference
yeah thats why I dont understand why linus compared it to a 3090 instead of a 3080
Because it runs at 3090 performance for way less cost.
Aren't the 3080tis going to be like bad for. Mining
@prisma crag Lmfao fuck no.
I'm keeping my trade secrets, boi.
You think I'm letting 3070s for $1,300 slide from me? And nah, not from there.
Back ally deals are too inconsistent.
Eng plox
Which is to say so long as the algorithm isn't Ethash it mines like a 3090 does for cheaper.
He bought a card that's 7% faster than a 3080 for 70% markup
Oh j guess quinty give up waiting on a 6800xt lol
m8 there is only 1 non english word lol versendet means its send
nah I got it for a colleague
And you know... Gesantsumme.

ehh the english should know what a number under the word "sum[...]" is

Never underestimate the square brain.
Anyway, 3080ti just doesn't make sense imo
ofc not
but in this market its a insane cheap deal lol
gl finding one
How much is 3070ti BTW
If it actually sells for <£750
But my GPU still works
Cos my 3080 cost £833
So, meh
Which is pretty cheap in the current market
well yeah FE cards have to be sold at MSRP from vendors that have it
but gl getting one of the 10 or so they get
anything else will be over a grand
Haha I know but it's worth trying
I love the FE look so much
Hate all the rtx 3080s
Ugly af
And I hate that I'm back with msi
My heart breaks because of my separation from evga
I'd love the FE if the 12 pin was anywhere else.
and if it wasnt a 12 pin
Haha my current is a 12 pin so I'm not bothered
Yee, same.
same considering all I play is modded mc and destiny 2
I've been pouring my card into crypto mining and playing Plants vs Zombies since it uses shit all VRAM.
I miss original PVZ. :(
I should really stop being lazy and make my pc dual boot so I can sell my old 1080 for its original price lmao
I have a 1080Ti I can't use atm and that's tragic.
Some of the hardware for it broke and I can't locate the little tiny screws it needs for the damned cooler to mount.
Wish I waited to sell my 1070ti lmao
Actually, anyone know of any aftermarket coolers for the Strix 1080Ti?
the only people who really feel bad are the 2080ti owners that sold theirs for below 3070 prices because everyone thought you could get those cards
Absolute nob, the person I sold it to I was proper nice with, I put a bag of haribos in the box!
Not a single world from them
(pc companies here put little bags of haribos with your hardware orders)
ngl I also wouldn't talk to anyone forcing haribos onto me
Lmao

Aww man it's the best thing ever
Order all your parts
They arrive, you build and finish the day off with haribos
definitely on the bottom 5 of things I ever ate for me
Aww ye I found it
Hmm they messed up one of my orders one time
They sent me 5 bags!
My order was only £3 🤣
yeah companies that do that are always fun
Is that not common outside germany?
Not my Apple Watch having brighter display than 12 pro max. Even though that may have been caused by overheating by ton of direct sunlight on the phone for longer time, which made it really hot
Not discord not being able to compress non raw photo and also not allowing me to cancel it because the photo was too wide and the button was too much to right to be on screen
215 gb out of max 256 of storage on my phone is taken by photos. I got this phone at the end of last year, and already once backed all photos and deleted most of useless apps. All my other apps have less than 20Gb in total lmao
Hmm
@reef patrol I'm all for moving on from usb a xD
Sure sure. But let's get more than two ports on a Mac first 😄
I have like 10...12? on my PC in comparison.
But...
Apple can't sell dongles like that.
Won't somebody please think of Apple? They're about to go bust. :P
I love how one usb c port can do so much ngl
I'd love if one iMac could also do that much. :P
Honestly if I had a bunch of disposable cash I'd love a imac as a main desktop (running Windows if that's ever possible)
Irs such a beautiful device
this is some IO

also an odd mainboard semingly only sold on caseking
Asus Pro WS WR80E-SAGE SE Wifi
Ideally if j ever get my own place I would have an office and everything stored on a server
giant chonker
Lmfao
Smh
Same
I want to hook that shit up to my TV
To have a desktop and a TV PC
Though the performance on those NUCs is not enough to run 4K games
Imagine
Going traveling with a beast pc that size
I would have killed to have my desktop with me everywhere during uni
You'd still need a monitor and accessories everywhere.
Which is why gaming laptops are so popular 😄
Expecting to buy an i7/2060 if I get into Comp Sci.
get a ryzen and enjoy the much faster compile times 😛
Not popular, not cheap here.
is what I'd normally say but currently idfk what the stock looks like of laptops lol
and the price for an intel model?
Same.
R7/i7 starts at around 820€
840 for an 4800HS and a 1660TI
Oh here's one with a 2060 same price
(These are all returns sold "as new" with either missing packaging or a bit of wear)
well 4600 looks quite good compared to intel offerings then
Either way - It's basically the used car lot of laptops. I might find 5 potential machines today that are gone tomorrow. But this is the rough area. 800-1000€ for a 2060/i7/16GB machine that I can actually open up and slot new NVME and RAM into as needed.
So... just waiting for that acceptance letter 😄
ye in the end you're not going to have super big projects anyway so it wont matter as much
Exactly - Until year 2-3 it's basically super simple stuff that any old laptop could do. It's 90% luxury 😄
im studying CS now, don't have that beast of a laptop. ~€600 lenovo ideapad. quite light, 16gb ram, 10 hours battery life. runs everything really great at the moment. next year should be fine too, might take a bit longer with unity stuff coming up. but yea
might take a minute more at startup but should still be absolutely fine
yea
and if im doing homework or working on projects at home. I use my pc. soo yea, im totally fine
last couple unity versions got a lot more stuff to load at startup but runtime of the editor got much better and more modular so get a coffee during startup and afterwards its fine lol
ooh okay lol haha
we're gonna work on a digital warehouse, where warehousebots will deliver shipment from truck to the correct shelf, using like a couple of ray traces
in unity i think
the warehouse can change, and the bots can still figure out the correct path
colleague is probably getting a new pc with a 5950x soon from the i7-5xxx or so he has, that will be interresting to see how much it speeds up his loading lol
oh yea, i7 5th gen tho?
ye the extreme edition they had back then
Sounds interesting. A decade ago the most complex thing we had to make were a bowling alley app - with a simple UI. You know. Reservations, shoe stock database, lane preview with pins and simple error messages.
And this weird thought experiment about basically playing Snake but with ants. You had to use pheromones as the only way for them to communicate that they had found "food", to pick it all up.
ah alright
oh that's pretty cool. this year I didn't have that complicated projects, memory game, IoT plant water system, car financial web app and now a quiz for children
all c#
snake with ants xD
that sounds ehm, interesting
Well imagine an anthil at the center of a grid. Small piles of food pellets would appear on the grid. Ants would walk out from the hill randomly and if they found food, they'd put down scent trails.
ooh yea, that's really cool actually
Then other ants would randomly walk into those and try to follow it. Stronger trail.
ooh, nice
The challenge was to code the scent trail logic only. You could not change how the ant code worked at all 😄
I think we had 3 colours to use.
they do use some sort of ant hill kinda thing to simulate infections for flu-like things, like covid
oh huh? locking cuda cores? or
now its not just 20 skus of the 3080 mobile that all are called the same now it can be changed even further without it being out of spec
lol
Tbh not sure if I would not just change this for four TB ports. I mean, it’s useful to have other ports too but also unfortunate that more mobos don’t have TB. For laptops you can literally have one usb c connector connected to monitor that fully charges the laptop, DP 1.4 coming to monitor carrying up to 4k 120hz 8bpc and USB 2 pass through for laptop, that you can have mouse and kb connected to
Well, their new CPUs with up to 8 cores should be bit better in this regard, with better gaming performance but still lacking in non gaming stuff
Yeah, unfortunately. It’s like, imagine certain AIBs would only give you 8000 cuda cores unlocked in 3090
yeah and threadripper laptop would tear through any 8 core but neither are relevant for the price point so I dont really care how the 8core tgl laptops look like
so my Grado SR60x came in yesterday and they're great as far as I can tell.
Apparently the SR60 normals have a great rep.
Assuming Grado didn’t fuck up completely I’d imagine they’re great. :)
I've heard these are closer to the Hemps in sound style. The Hemps were apparently a little more bass heavy.
too bad you cant daisy chain monitors on mac because they do not support MST (while in windows they do)
people have been able to do stuff like it on the M1
not sure how
so grain of salt
Well daisy chaining usually drops bandwidth too much, can’t even get two displays with 1440p 120hz 10bpc
Daisy chain with DP 2.0 however
DP 2.0 will be great. 4K 240hz 10bpc
so just use 8bpc and unless you are doing HDR sensitive color work you wont even notice it
Well, yeah but it’s still bit limiting. Also can’t go 144hz. Just not daisy chaining fixes that.
but for office use i do want to daisy chain 2 screen at 60hz
Yeah, for that daisy chaining could be pretty useful
especially because there are only 2 ports on the new macbooks
which is still rediculous
Yeah, m1x that will quite likely be released tomorrow will hopefully fix that
Just in the return window of my wife's macbook
I'm a little annoyed, pretty sure my M1 is out of return window. I would've gotten a 16gb ram version if i knew.
I really don't need the M1X cause i like the mba.
did you download more ram for 3 bucks?
XD
having a fan really helps the temps a lot.
my phone for one heavily overheats when using the front camera as a webcam but pointing a fan onto it makes it cool to the touch.
I can't be bothered to get something good for around twice a week and I really don't like the visual downgrade of switching to my ps-eye
Still soldering a fan connector on a 12v power brick I had laying around and connecting that to a case fan works wonders.
14" would be nice.

#Linux Disables #Intel's New #ENQCMD Feature Since Kernel Code "Broken Beyond Repair"
No like this:
At least the cpu's that support the feature are delayed anyway, so that gives them time to fix it.
imagine not buying a mirrorless camera to use as a webcam... i use it for other video stuff to...
I like my smaller laptop. Plus I like it being fanless a lot
i like having performance... ¯_(ツ)_/¯
yeah fair enough. the m1 is plenty enough for what I use it for
Need to buy a wrap for the cables behind monitor
Imagine actually being called ikaS instead of Bexin

Yeah it confused me a bit
Wooting no longer recognized my, idk, old or normal or idk nickname
Don’t change it then :p
Damn that is dark is that daytime shot too?
Nope not daytime
Ah alright
But the leds are pretty bright even during day
Am I the only one who hates having light in their room?
This would drive me insane
Limited at 10w, literally more than lights that I have in room. Even though the lights are not really enough. Have two 9w light bulbs
Leds are way too bright honestly to be on the top
Tbh I many times have all lights off in my room, but sometimes it makes me too sleepy. Also this on monitor I usually don’t use at night, just have it for ambient light when I get replacement mobo. Since having lights does not really matter to me rn if I am not watching movies on phone which I sometimes am since IPS blacks suck no matter the other stuff
Cool are they able to be interfaced with some PC software?
Yes
I like light but not too much
What monitor stand is thst BTW
I like lights, looking at a screen in a dark environment hurts my eyes
Eve monitor stand
Dark mode
And dim the display
Plus people say it's not good for your eyes
It depends on brightness of screen
It will make you unable to go to sleep and also will give you eye strain
But that is about it
Should not do it too much because then come glasses
But tbh for watching movies the best thing is to have all lights off which for me means basically no background light since where I live, and just watching movies on OLED, so, my phone since I don’t have an OLED tv.
Same just not too much though
Stranger Things Season 3 was nice to watch in a car ride at night, not only did it look good but I barely used any battery at high brightness.
Really wish I had OLED tv for watching movies. I mean, watching movies on phone is not that bad but still. The OLED blacks with all lights of are just so great
There is cheaper mled tv
That has good blacks and is brighter than oled
And the OLED on TVs is usually that LG panel which they updated but it is super expensive again

Samsung's lates...
Tbh mini led TVs don’t imo have enough zones yet, too much halo. iPad being smaller screen with 2500 zones look pretty interesting if I had extra money to just spend on it though
Also the price on Newegg looks lot worse than OLED
Well should tank in price
Once more oems make TV's with samsusngs panel or another one
Which is far better odds than OLED, but there are some $1000ish OLED LG tvs
They are not humongous and if you compared to to qled probably going to look dim
Could get OLED for 1000$, this mini led on Newegg is like 3700$
Don’t need that much brightness too tbh. Currently have 750 nit max monitor at 75% and never needed more brightness. Especially since I mostly enjoy watching movies during night so no need for high brightness
Apparently I take back what I said Sony's OLED tv cost less than that but like $1000 with it's LG OLED v2 panel
Yes
Weird, well it is Samsung though so understandable
And also the fact that number of zones on the smallest screen is under 700, not very mini led tbh. That’s lot less than lot smaller iPad or even the xdr display.
Maybe because it has some sort of secret sauce
It looks bad off angle though yeah
iPad is used close up then again
And since apple made it a pro device some models of course, probably the other reason why so many zones are present
You alright?
Mostly going to appeal to the people with too much money and high-end business market.
Thats like bragging you include an USB port
soo.. it's a valid selling point so whats the issue?
It's valid yes
But this makes it seem like it's the only benefit to buy this phone
Unless they have other posts hinting other things
..what? do you only see lists with 50 bullet points as ads?
since when is every ad listing everything
hell its not even a product ad its a post with a teaser for a announcement lol

Better!
Recommended for CPUs with low to moderate heat dissipation (see CPU compatibility list), e.g. Intel 9900K, 9700K or AMD Ryzen 2700X, 3950X 3700X, 3400G, etc
3950X
And how about the 9900K doing AVX
But that would make intel look bad
A mystery APU has been spotted in the latest Linux graphics patch from AMD which supports ray-tracing in a first. The unidentified APU with the GPU ID: gfx1013 in LLVM is most likely based on the 1st Gen RDNA architecture, but can process RDNA 2 instructions (GFX 10.3), including those for ray-tracing such as: image_bvh_intersect_ray/image_bvh64...

You have a company you can use to pass on the taxes?
i am the company
well figuratively
i am not literally a talking building/corporate entity
One mans company?
na
but i am buying regularly with the consent of my employers without paying the taxes myself
File it as a business expensive on your end?
mhh ill read it in a bit but its from phison itself so always grain of salt
Or are you permitted to trade under their name. And thus not be a seperete entity in the chain.
In any case you want to have a business where you can trade under as you will be able to buy the item without taxes. legally
yeah no hurry, lotsa mumbo but that new 176 cell NAND gonna be a must wait 😄
typically a bonus for an employee in the form of "leftover stock"
na we file it as business expense
Aight, thats pretty good.
Saving on the vat/tax and should be legal unless your country specifically prohibits this.
BTW nerds, No more DWM compositor lag anymore in windowed/borderless modes on Windows 10. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5159/~/v-sync-off-not-recommended-as-a-global-setting-starting-with-driver-version
Because since w7 you can't disable desktop composition, so all windowed programs are delayed by 1-2 frames
I was thinking of suckless dwm
Only now you can run programs lag-free on windowed mode again
man... surprised people buying it at that but also that mindfactor actually got over 100 of that sku lmao
What a steal
But why only now? Windows changed something or nvidia just finally caught up some of the slack?
How do AMD and intel handle this then? or was it a nvidia only issue?
It has been a prevalent windows issue but seems like gpu vendors been able to circumvent it with MPO
Thanks DX12 🙂
Intel be hacking. or nvidia be slackin
Multiplane Overlays (MPO) is a new feature of WDDM1.3 (DX11.2) initially introduced in Windows 8.1, which is now extended to WDDM2.0 (DX12) in Windows 10
basically yeah, slacking for about 5 years..
Imagine that, could have had been playing games on windowed/borderless for 6 years without lag if they had just bothered
Well you could just stick around with Windows 10 1709 as it had the awesome feature of automatically letting borderless windows drive the syncing, aka proper vsync off for borderless gaming.. it was awesome and I'm still bitter they removed that
You would think they bothered to do this since its such a significant gain in latency. and they are the same company that sells the hardware latency testing thing. Like bruh
DWM is always on
Yes it is even then, else nothing looks correct.. try it, rename dwm.exe to something else and see if anything still looks correct
"Beginning with the NVIDIA Driver version 461.09, setting V-Sync OFF as a global setting from the NVIDIA Control Panel will likely result in tearing even when viewing content in windowed mode.
When V-Sync is enabled, the application's frame rate is synchronized with the display refresh rate in order to eliminate tearing. Typically, tearing would occur when viewing applications in full-screen mode, so V-Sync is useful in eliminating tearing in this case.
Prior to driver version 461.09, only a single plane was available to the OS. The Desktop Windows Manager (DWM) would composit the contents from all the windows and then present everything at the refresh rate cadence. This means that tearing was avoided by DWM design even without V-Sync.
However, driver version 461.09 and later supports multiplane overlay (MPO). (MPO provides benefits, such as reduced latencies, for gaming in windowed mode.) With multiplane overlay, the application is allowed to present its contents independently and with its own V-Sync setting. The OS, outside of driver control, decides which apps get promoted to their own MPO plane. If V-Sync is OFF, then there will be tearing (even in windowed mode) because, as in full-screen mode, there is now no desktop compositor controlling the presentation. Setting V-Sync OFF now has the same effect in windowed apps as it does for full-screen apps.
To avoid unexpected tearing in windowed mode, NVIDIA recommends leaving the V-Sync global setting at the default "Use the 3D application setting""
Yes because it bypasses it
compositing manager is still active. You can just act more control over it in individual windows
That stuff sounds very similiar to how 1709 behaved btw
Yes.. so DWM is off.. 😛
Nah it's always on but whatevs, else say overlays like notifications or game bar wouldn't be able to show up
With one window, it would be reasonable to disable it entirely. Since you dont need it at that moment. Only when two windows have to exist and interact you need it
