Just sync chain
Which is fine as long as at least one device doesn't die
🤔
oh so they went back to blockchain for financing brave?
@reef patrol you can disable thst
Brave has a wallet system
Where you can earn currency for ads
Irs a weird cool system
You can choose to give them rewards to certain content creators etc

I am so fucking done with chromium...
Welcome back to Firefox
Or the fucking search... it's literally the same...
Welp. Guess we're trying Firefox...sigh
Im going back to firefox for the lack of containers i currently have. Plus I could fool sites to be a user still on windows nt running chrome. Also the fingerprinting blocking is much better
It has the exact same bullshit as Chrome does, yes.
Same rendering engine
And apparently same limitations. They don't have the flags to disable them anymore either...
Remember someone asking for something like this
These are our current web browser recommendations and some tweaks you can use to preserve your privacy.
@cursive summit cos you know, people always use private mode
For anything other than porn
I use private mode for 1) watching shit I don't want to influence my personalization 2) Porn
Why? what if you forgot about that one video and you want to watch that porn again
Usually the shit I watch in private are barely random things
That I don't really intend to view again anytime soon
Something I use a lot with firefox is the profilemanager. It's nice to have a separate work / home / porn profile.
Atleast the boss will understand you dont mix porn and work together then
It's my own pc, boss does not get access to that anyway.
It's just generally nice to have the histories / bookmarks and such not mix
Its marked as the porn folder so don't be surprised to find out it contains porn
Im surprised I didnt get a work computer or laptop considering I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement and everytime he sends me anything he has to verify with me that I wont ever talk about this to anyone
via the email?
we use teams to chat
But how will you access it without a machine?
huh?
If you let workers use their personal equipment it should be accepted that all that data will be lost or stolen if one of the machines begins to misbehave
he sends me what I need when I need to work on something I dont have already
which is not fun when I need something he sent a few months back and its another name as to what he thinks its called
And as the company doesnt own those machines, they cant enfore you to use anti virus software or anything. Thus they are allowing unknown machines to acces the data
Yeah, its a risk I dont understand why they are taking
considering Im not allowed to show anyone anything
They wont be able to do shit if someone accidentally brings a worm into the network
My friend got a surface tablet with antivirus and shit installed and it can only connect to their "VPN" thingy before it allows you to access internet and it tracks everything he does to ensure their data is safe
calculating cost for the risk of you breaching contract vs cost of making it super secure
Which is the norm in most companies dealing with sensitive information
also depends on how sensitive the data you get access to actually is
dont you already have a great gpu?
I think I'll fail to get a 3070ti at for 100 gp in runescape
Yes but I don't use it
I have a 3080 is rather sell and use a 3070ti if I could get it at msrp
Someone would advise you to mine on it especially bitcoins
Then mine more
no you dont mine bitcoins on gpu
the rest is still as lucrative as it should never be sadly
So now they wont give out the cards instead?
I think ASUS finally learned to up their MSRP a tad. 😄
Cause they were basically THE single most popular 3080.
What if they did a big brain and overproduced, selling at the lowest price and keeping it there, people will talk only about how affordable and available your brand is.
no such thing as overproduction in this year
hyperproduction then
Would be a very 6D checkmate move if intentional.
Dont people want to have a laptop with more rigidity than a piece of paper
They just feel weird. Like you are one gust of wind away from disaster
last 2 gens have been pretty thin
under 17mm
afaik the r2 revisions had no thermal problems
with a 3080
One class mate saw their laptop flying like a tissue paper after someone tripped over the power cable lmao
but seeing some actual improvment in laptop coolers would be nice
lol
yea magsafe was a good idea

if htey did USB C charging you could put other cables on
buuut
power limits
It didnt disengange when the person tripped but got disconnected when it went flying

The worst combo
Also a little heft in the laptop makes it suitable for self defence
And they will be destroyed by the first fall they get
Current laptop survived 2 falls and me landing on it twice
current laptop is well insured
even against accidents
idk how dell still thinks that is a good idea to have as an insurance option
but they can bet their ass that my laptop will mysteriously die within the warranty period
This does mean you will use a dell machine for longer
what else should I use
for a laptop
lenovo with dogshit design
hp pricing ain't that good
and the rest is the same chinese OEM rebrands
they prob still are

but mine was 2.4k€
Dell also likes to make their brand for the classy bussinessman
including the warranty
for a 9700k and a 2080
oh yea
still is
will prob get expanded with hyperx within the next 12 months
Dells insurance was worth it in my case
yea
it ain't cheap
but it is good

yea if it breaks it might be out for a month

payed like 100 eur. The screen alone is that price, then they replaced most of the plastic parts with any damage, even replaced some cable i broke during my exploration when it went kaput. and waited for the mailman to pick it up
lol
No questions other than which serial number and verifing the address
two weeks later it came back as new
Which was nice when I was busy getting my front teeth also fixed from that fall

I have onsite support
even better
support guy is there the next day usually
and comes with the part
lol
yea the additional cost of accidental damage is low af
imo a braindead upgrade on a laptop
They accept anything except blatent fraud attempy or theft
Its one year tho, and one claim per year :)
ye
well
"blatant fraud" is hard to proove
if I have the laptop in my hand while it is open and it falls down it is most likely dead
at least the screen is
Wait they apparantly repaired it in 3 days yeez
O.o
🤦🏼♀️

Your entire network is dependant on a raspberry pi to work?
Normally that is what you want to avoid as much as possible
PiHole I imagine?
The long-awaited NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti GPU is out!… of stock. But if you wanted to see what $1200 got a scalper, we’ve got our full review of this opportunistic gouge of a video card.
Sponsor: Buy Corsair's 5000D Airflow Case on Amazon (https://geni.us/cnVP60)
When NVIDIA sent its RTX 3080 Ti for review, we didn't yet know the price of the card. ...
I didn't see this posted before
TL;DR
It's shit.. for that price.
well duh
no one is gonna pay $1.2k MSRP, and then more on the scalped market for what should be an $800 product
at least they only got black screen issues sometimes and not like der8auer who couldnt get his card to run untill he changed monitor
We’ll have to see how it performs in mining.
I dunno volkwagen makes some very shitty cars if the price was 10 million euros
that's the issue with the Eth hash rate limiters
Lmao
if only NVidia were actually through on locking down their cards for mining
60MH at 220W or so is what we saw from a leak
Wym? I’m playing 37 instances of Minecraft at once. :P
Wonder why Nvidia does not get the same amount of shit as AMD got for the black screen issues
@ashen spindle With what currency?
eth
that at 220w, yikes
What you do is you get a bunch of miners who just make coins for themselves. People buy some coins raising its value and when it has reached the peak the miners just up and go.
Ez scheme
idk thats all we have from leaks so far
and sure its worse than the 3080 but I think it still makes money so I'd assume any more optimized option also makes money and at a faster rate sadly
Very pog.
I’ll have to buy a couple.
My contact can prolly find a few for a reasonable price.
but im now mostly waiting to see if roman gets an answer for his issue, I never heard of a monitor causing a card to not boot
cable sure, but monitor?
and it worked with his other cards lmao
Probably something to do with the LHR fuckery.
the actual card is 2080 super 2.0
Be interesting to see how the dust settles when the LHR line actually drops.
Monitor is a slave to the gpu. the GPU decides what it shows and what it doesnt.
Be very interesting to see how Eth reacts.
I’d bet a panic and drop, that’s when I strike.
Doge might end up hitting 2, or even 3 whole dollars
Nah.
seems possible, people are gonna shift to something else
Not like it currently is, that’d make the market cap 300 billion dollars.
Doge needs to begin halving and sharding for that to work.
yeah doge is literally made with the intent to make a token less valueable over time
^
thats why depending on what the rate on that is, they might never beat the ATH they had even if lets say in a year bitcoin would reach 500k
which is the opposite of what the creator made it for, so unlikely
Sharding to make it economically viable.
But yeah, the creator made it as a fuckaround in 2 hours.
Very much doubt on Doge exploding to a massive amount of value.
Unless a 51% attack happens. (Guess what isn’t happening)
Doge coin is a meme coin and ended up becoming a pump and dump.
a 51% attack?
A single entity owning 51% of a blockchain and thus having operational control over the blockchain.
it would cost so much to do so, though
It’s an attack by owning a majority of it, not viable here.
Billions upon billions of dollars.
The amount of people capable of that is less than 100.
watch as elon conducts a 51% attack to monetize on Doge

Lmfao
why don't I start a scam coin, call them crusty cum coins, and get them circulated and accepted as a valid crypto
and then ensure I have at least 51% of it at a given time
I don't think crypto has value if one person has all of it
that is what happend or was tried to be done with some scamcoins
and will be a thing people continue to try
Like trickle dum ecofakonimics?
or "tripC" for short
trickle down economics is something the rich tell everyone so that they can justify tax cuts for themselves
i still cant believe ppl buy that argument
which they don't need, fund the politicians with your money and they will play by your rules
no need to lie to people
The only thing that trickles down is less volatility of the currency thus making it less usefull
One hoards all the money and the other cant use the money they have left. result? Economic depression
that's why we should tax money hoarding, not having lots of money
because money flowing is good
money sitting idle is not
Keep it rolling or else your head will be rolling next
That’s the goal, no?
Horde money until you can spend it on good things.
Don’t horde money for the sake of it.
What you needing billions for ?
hoard*
https://twitter.com/HardwareUnboxed/status/1400090070791507974 hey @shadow minnow it's your configuration
Calling it now, disappointment PC 2021: Core i9-11900K + GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.
I am not even looking at 3080 ti reviews 3080 ti just sucks tbh
Either gonna get 3080 or if I really wanted to spend more 3090
Plot twist
Especially with the new cache improvements for AMD. It’s made even more of a joke.
shrugs Disagree.
you mean the game microsoft Excel
Both CPUs are capable of pushing 300FPS in most titles.
Very few displays can even run that fast.
What does it matter if the per core can push 300FPS when above 200 minimum isn’t useful compared to extra cores for scaling?
You mean the game "VW emition test"
It’s like the CS:GO argument.
oH iNteL iS bEttER!!1!11 Bruh...
They both do 600FPS.
Who even cares at that stage?
VW at 5600FPS in their emissions pog
Idk if you even can detect an improvement at that kind of scale. Maybe slight latency improvements, but does that even matter?
At anything over 300FPS that seems remarkably pointless. Ergo is more value not had with more cores so stuff running Vulkan can scale better?
In this video I take you through all the necessary steps to get a private cellphone, private cellular service and phone number, and how to keep all your personal data off of it to make your usage of that private phone as anonymous as possible.

wait, alpenglow works on Linux now?!
oh, you dont have alpenglow
its a theme
It's supposed to change based whether your system theme is dark or light I think
ahhh
what panel are you using?
oh
the confusing af one
Plasma desktop might be getting the option to make the panel float, I know one of the devs implemented that feature but i think he didnt commit it for adding to the actual desktop yet
cause he shows it off in one of his videos once hes done making it
A devlog where I implement a rough, rough version of the floating panel for Plasma.

Wait, they called the 3080 Ti "thai"? and not tee-eye?
secret code they successfully abducted princess Lisa
wut, nobody in europe buys it from best buy
not that I know
NBB/ldlc get the FE stock for most EU contries
I think spain italy and some others might have stock allocation somewhere else
stores that dont exit in the us
ldlc is the store name cant really tell you more lol
I wonder what Best Buy Canada is doing with the 3080Tis
Giving them all to Linus
or if they're even gonna sell them here
are we writing professional papers here?
ye idk what difference it makes when its a store you wont know and its clear its a store
also "nbb gpu store" in a search engine gives you what you need if you really need to know
either way, eu wont be affected by whatever a US store does
Oh yeah, NVIDIA still sells cards directly in EU I forgot
same time as they stopped the US sales they stopped eu sales and send them to some retailers
Ah, gotcha
not sure, I know NBB has allocations for benelux and germany, ldlc for some others countries
no clue where poland or so would get them from
UK is probably scan?
nbb has physical stores, idk about the others
so...
it's $120 of cheap merch
🙄
just buy the ultimate edition at that point, you get the game and every single piece of content that will be released for it

Nice
Damn, I did not know the 6800XT/6900XT coolers where that good
Anyone know the default MacOS Big Sur UI font?
I just wish I could get a 6800XT
Sick card
I could but I am definitely not going to pay the current price for it.
Switching away from Nvidia's linux drivers + the performance improvement just is not worth it for me at this time.
When I bought my gtx1080 I had no real choice as my previous card died during the mining boom, but now I can just wait.
I usually game on my 1440p 155hz monitor, still a lower framerate works fine too most of the time.
It helps that I really don't game that much anymore and when I do it's usually not the most intensive games.
If people accept High instead of Ultra settings, 4K 100 fps is fairly easy on 6800 XT and 3080
thats not temp normalized lol
noise normalized they are pretty garbage
Dumb PC gamers who thought their shitty as 1080 Tis should be able to max out games killed this.
They are decent. Around Nvidia FE level
Same temperatures sure
That's fe?
Yes
Well yikes
This is from the original review
Oh hunh
BTW I disagree with this since its not possible to get full apples to apples with NV vs AMD here
Equal to a 3080 is more like it
The 3080 is using a physically smaller cooler with fewer fans
but still you get the idea. Both FE ajnd AMD's Ref are decent coolers. Not as good as what EVGA or Big Dicked PowerColor can do
that is true, but 3080 is also a bigger chip so its easier to cool
The bigger the chip the more surface area
Power density wise it's the same
Perhaps it isnt possible to do apples to apples since the most heated elements are placed differently on the die
Well this is the original design
The coolers can be optimized for the die
This is with the BIG(G) 3090 FE
Basically similar quality. AMD loses a bit due to using Pads instead of paste but gains some from just having a bigger overall heatsink.
And yea comparing a 2 slot standard height card to a 2.5 slot over standard height card is kinda eh
Nvidia's Pass-through design is smarter though. AMD should literally copy paste Sapphire's Vega 56 coolers IMHO
On the other hand the 3090 is 3 slots and even taller so it's not comparable either
Vega is different cooling wise
Hbm means alot less spacing issues
Not that much different. Vega 56 Pulse is good for this
Well, Fury Nitro then
3/4ths PCB
Still has hbm mounting holes
Which can allow you alot more pressure (without worrying about it) and pressure is literally free cooling performance
Well RX 5700 XT Red Devil and Nitro + managed this so ... so can RX 6900 XT
I just hope amd wont stop with one generation of decent coolers and fuck up the rdna3 coolers since people will want that as I'll still expect supply issues when they come out
THIS IS the one I do not get
This cooler ticks all boxes
its a big ass badass cooler
every trick in the book
and still is not optimal
Yeah I dont like thought terminating cliches like that ;d
That leads to people claiming AMD sucks or NV sucks or Intel is uselees etc.
There must be some reason
maybe mounting pressure is borked
I mean I also dont like the mentality, but assrock has just consistent issue in all areas, motherboards, gpus etc.
on the other hand they are the only vendor to try janky shit like beta bios that allowes zen3 on x370
but more or less every product stack from them has some more or less severe issues as far as I can remember
yeah their method to improve bad products is to blacklist any reviewer that shows the flaws, great /s
So I am quite limited there. Their actions vs reviewers are scummy though, I agree
Amd had garbage software, but the difference is that they are actively trying to improve
Every single other motherboard vendor has talked to the community to help fix the ram issues (except Biostar lmao)
yeah they are not all bad, it's just they have ok products +some flaws in every stack and other vendors quite often have product stacks that dont have any big flaws
I'll still give new products from them a look but I just go in expecting to see some problems
I also have an asrock 6800, but its the reference cooler
MSI seems most solid atm, ASUS is alright now, they used to suck BIOS wise, but they improved... tho I don't trust them yet. Gotta keep at it for couple releases to gain trust back.
Asrock am4 gets dqd because I've troubleshot 4 systems with qvl ram issues
Yes
I even owned one
HEre is mine
HEre it is next to my old 6800 XT
Basically, RX 6000 series coolers seem to be beefed up RTX 2000 FE coolers
Yes
But why would you have multiple of these cards IDK
Huh? I did not know that
Weird
But yeah possible
Ive added thermal pads to my 6900 XT tbh
but it didnt help much
it basically reduced the fan by 100 rpm
on auto settings
You know what is sad? Not that SLI and CFX are almost dead
but that mGPU on DX12 and Vulkan did not happen for real
Yeah turns out it's really tricky to implement so why even bother
Cause it allowed even for AMD + Nvidia (or Intel too?) to work together for superior results than just AMD + AMD or Nvidia + Nvidia
For example I think the Fury X was able to do the texturing and shading while the 980 Ti handled the geometry
something like that
Raja is a good engineer but he himself is a cringe man
What do you mean?
This is simply under a gaming workload, so about a realistic as it gets.
Thats infinitely louder than my card if I let my card heat up to 100c 🤣
Eh, it's probably the benchmark that matters most
Default power curve, default fan settings
How loud does it get?
It does not matter at all if cooler X or cooler Y is better
What matters is the final result
That's temps, and noise, under normal usage conditions
If you are concerned about temperatures get huge passive coolers. Wont hear a thing.
endothermic chemical reactions if you want expensive, not always quiet and constant maintenance
Oh, you can just boil the water and let the steam vent away. With enough surface area to dissipate the heat away it wont go beyond the boiling temperature of water. Steam can be condensed to allow for circulation of the water
Mine is barely audible above ambient sound floor
Maybe cleaning the pumps and adding clean lubrication will help a lot there
Put PC in mineral oil.
Even better, put big passive heatsink and mineral oil on it, maybe even add pump to move water around
run pc in the freezer
Optimise the code
hire my ex to blow on it. She blows on everything else in existence
Offtopic but TDC is a motherfucker for 5800x temps. like wtf
mmm, TempleOS
Here I showcase TempleOS; an operating system that has some god inspiration and is written in Holy C. Just, wow. I had meant this as a joke. But.

also, apparently showing your tech works on all vendors and is not proprietary shit is now bad
Fanboys being fanboys I guess.
Seeing that the quality of the upscaling was not that great attributing it to AMD wanting to look Nvidia look bad.
That's some mental gymnastics right there.
wasn't a positive light? nvidia's consent? Nvidia did something?
Bruh.
this dude. 😂 This dude
Bruh.
This is what no freedom does to a person 😎
Dont be like this dude, take what is valuable. Skidaddle away with the booty. And AMD fans would like Nvidia to open up RT and DLSS. They gladly take it. They are even demanding it
Raytracing is already open to all though
Can't wait to see how Intel's GPU offerings will fare with raytracing
Not the Nvidia specific one.
Vulkan did release an RT specification. So at least there is some chance at standardisation
Yes and on D3D12 it has always been DXR that anyone can implement..
Only dickish game devs decide to lock it to RTX cards
Hi all,
I just wanted to pass on the news that we are updating the list of compatible AMD graphics for FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) to include Radeon RX 470 and RX 480.
We expect the website to be updated with this information sometime soon and we wanted to make sure you were aware.
Looking forward to having you all try FSR out on the 22nd. ✌️
Cheers.
- AMD Mickey
Jesus christ hope this means that R9 300 series and hopefully 200 series cards can also use FSR
it's more because those are basically the same silicon as the rx 500 series
not so for the previous generations
Wasn't there some kind of tomfuckery with R9 300 series being somewhat related to RX 400 series?
the 590 is a 580 which is a 480
I get that we are going from what, Terascale arch to GCN basically
dont remember 300 series shenanigans
Oh god I'm wrong
R9 300 is fully GCN
BREAKING: Microsoft is holding a special Windows event on June 24th. It will include a look at what the company has been referring to as the next generation of Windows. Details here: https://t.co/Q3WNAOMli3

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has also promised to unlock a better economy for developers and creators within Windows itself, so we’ll likely get a closer look at the store changes coming to Windows. Microsoft has been working on a new app store for Windows in recent months, and rumors have suggested Microsoft will open its store up to all apps and rival payment platforms.
yeah its "win11", coming pretty much the same time as alder lake comes to desktop as some major OS changes are needed there
per tradition this one has to be bad
There are problems with multicore utilization for Windows right?
uhh not really?
Or there were a while ago
I mean I guess it can always be better
Last I remember they had those scheduler changes to help out with massive multi core chips
oh yeah they had to have some adjustments to NUMA handling for the 64 core epycs/threadrippers
yea
but thats not relevant here
So no optimizations for FSR on GeForce cards from AMD
That's up to Nvidia to do

I don't even know how much there even is to optimise.
Good luck optimising something without the internal full documentation
Aaand we have a date for Switch Pro launch (rumoured)
Nvidia is responsible for their own driver.
year first isn't American, or at least not the midwest
mm/dd/yyyy is how it is in Midwestern US
ISO 8601 Data elements and interchange formats – Information interchange – Representation of dates and times is an international standard covering the exchange of date- and time-related data. It is maintained by the Geneva-based International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and was first published in 1988 with updates in 1991, 2000, 2004 ...
site launch time != product launch time
Since there was motion blur enabled, and video compression on top (and Godfall does NOT play well with compression), it's literally impossible to tell what the quality will be like
Sure getting an exact measurement is hard, however the 1440p video demo does show a very clear visual difference on a gtx1060, there is at least something to be said about that.
They take titles that they put effort in optimizing.
Ashes is an Excellent game to showcase effects.
Still I get your point and it's a fair one.
But it's much easier to work with smaller devs on stuff like this.
godfall was a releast titel for amd RT implementation, ofc they'll show that of
bit different since RT is not a single vendor thing now and the game is adding both vendors tech
also hairworks is just as big of a joke as tress fx
both vendors have hits and misses with new tech
There is the matter of AMD's tech being mit licenced which also means game devs can modify it and use their own branding.
So it's harder to actually know if they at least borrowed code from it.
It's not really AMDs fault that their tech demo has only 12h of content and poor replayability
damn I really thought at least 5 games were using it lol
so its 3 on amd side 3 on nvidia side lol
wasnt ghost the joke game where they showed amazing facial tech and hairworks and then showed in 99% of game time you have a helmet or mask on?
TressFX vs hairworks was very much focused on the respective card strengths at the time.
Nvidia had more tesselation power so hairworks used that, AMD was much stronger on GPU compute so they used compute shaders.
However as AMD cards could still run a fair bit of tesselation Nvidia just decided to go to unreasonable levels of tesselation on the witcher 3 at least.
yup
TressFX is superior to Hairworks though.
This is IMHO a weak attack
Many of the best games ever made arent that popular
I dont know what Godfall is
hell take a look at how much better firestrike runs get on amd if you disable tesselation (much better now) and you dont see any visual change
but its on the same tier as TOmb Raider to me personally - cannon fodder for people who know little about games
Does this matter though? Why should the popularity of the art work matter so much here
I dont get it
Never will and I hope I dont become jaded enough to start getting it
Fair enough to them, but that is ultimately pointless. 4A Games always do better than them. 😛
But even that is pointless
4A did a better job in making it available for other devs at least
Apart from finally making Lara attractive, IDK what they do so well 😛
I enjoyed the devcom talk they had 2 years ago about their RTX implementation
@ashen spindle Metro Exodus has Hairworks too
Which is meh since its inferior quality to TressFX
@ashen spindle Technically Skyrim also uses Hairworks since it got ported originally as a sex mod for dong mechanics and then hair/cloth physics.

So the list to my knowledge is 4 games. :)
cursed knowledge
1- Call Of Duty Ghosts
2- Far Cry 4
3- The Witcher 3
4- Monster Hunter Online
5- King of Wushu
6- Final Fantasy 15
7 - Metro Exodus
I really hate NV or AMD only tech
true cancer onto our art form
Hairworks is not like that though
Exclusives in general are a cancer to the art form.
I hate it if there is no asterisk to it
aka, FSR works amazing on AMD*
- also on nvidia if they put in the work
or console exclusive game*
*for 12 months
these are fine
but RTX library when VK RT is a thing and all? zzz
Some games like Cryostasis suffered due to their reliance on non-neutral tech
PhysX is key to its presentation
but it can barely run on Windows 10 even on an Nvidia GPU
@ashen spindle Yeah no, can we not do console exclusive for 12 months as valid?
would you rather not have it come to pc at all?
That kinda breaks everything that is an annual release and fucks over sales hard.
Well, now that FSR is coming DLSS is going to die a slow and painful death as Nvidia stops throwing money at it trying to make it stick
It's simply economics really, DLSS just is not marketable
Unlike FSR, which has several major disadvantages
I’d rather it get added immediately.
I am fine with timed exclusives. I dont care much
also 12 was just a random number to indicate its coming at some point
True but people think they arent
Timed exclusives are well and truly goddamn awful.
So give the people the rope and allow them to do as they wish with said rope
as a pc gamer I agree, as someone who also looks at the market and sees that consoles sell a lot for reasons? I can understand it
I understand it and with that understanding comes my heavy disagreement with it as a concept.
yes ideally there would be no exclusive stuff anywhere
Yeah cause most games arent open sourced alas. If they were, then it would not be too bad I admit
Exclusives do not help anyone except the rich asshats at the top.
And fuck those people.
I just dont see that happening at all and think time exclusives at least are an ok middle ground that is realistic
Yes, but an open sourced PhysX wont help Cryostasis since it itslef isnt open sourced
PC exclusives make some sense at least.
Or rather games requiring a keyboard and mouse.
if it was - some autistic wacko would fix it
What I don’t get is why consoles don’t allow keyboard/mouse usage.
IMHO Kronos Group needs to stop being slow and start being proactive with tech
Not like that’s a particularly challenging thing for people to buy.
and make their equivalents to DX12's tech or whatever AMD or NV come up with go into overdrive
and release ASAP
Consoles cater to being plug and play, requiring people to use a mouse / keyboard would break that.
Sure, that’s true, but what stops Microsoft or whoever from releasing their own mouse and keyboard?
@thick elk Yeah, that’s true.
because controllers is one part of the equation they sell as a complete package to make up margin they lose from selling consoles below the costs, cant make overpriced mice and keyboard that easily
The hardware makes shit all money anyway.
Why not work out a way to make the usage better? It’d allow more types of game on consoles anyway.
im pretty sure they make wins on the controllers
I don't doubt that they do, but I don't think it's their main motivation.
because as qlum said doesnt make it plug and play if you need a desk suddenly for a mouse
Games like ARMA and Tarkov/any flight sim have a zero chance of working on a console.
They can work theoretically
Depressing, how many games are in that category.
but the people who use consoles cannot understand games like ARMA or Tarkov or a flight sim
Sure, theoretically you can do combinations for every input, but it’s not doable.
give them an interactive movie with sub-Twilight level writing
and they will be happy
Not for your average person, y’know? Having to bind 47 different combinations for stuff on a controller is hilariously stupid.
In theory it’s very doable, stupid but doable.
Yeah 2 people on consoles would be interested in such a game.
SO its pointless to go for it
Some genres are full of elitists so they will go where the elitists are. Which isnt consoles
Didnt even know such an animal exists.
Absolute cringe, they went for a trash platform to do their races
Aight bois. I think the Sasser worm is out of my OS.
I suspect I've managed to remove all traces of it, didn't reboot many times and I've done a deep sweep of my entire file structure across all drives. Also isolated from the network the moment it struck so it's had no time to backdoor the rest of the payload in.
If it's not all gone it's defo crippled.
I thonk I'm good, no alerts at all.
sigh Nvm, Malwarebytes just picked up shitloads more.
Was forced to use Kapersky and Avast to actually wipe enough of the shit for Malwarebytes to get installed, within 4 minutes Malwarebytes picked up 141 infected pieces of bullshit, it took both Kapersky and Avast 4 hours to find 90.
I mean...
I force isolated the PC from the network and then force isolated all available IPs on my router side so even if the malware reenabled the wifi it’d be unable to be handed a DHCP address.
Get rekt by subnetting and VLAN network isolation, nerd virus.
And now it’s time to change every single password I have to something random and heavily 3FA everything I can before dropping all of my spare shit into LastPass.
It’s only paranoia if the viruses aren’t out to get your shit.
Psychosis or just telling a tale? 🤷♂️
Logitech g hub is such a joke. Just downloaded the newest version to change DPI of my mouse, and of course second time it already is not loading and stuck on loading screen. This issue has been there for years….
Mmmmmm. Malwarebytes using 80% of a 12 core CPU is tasty as fuck.
Best part is that I haven’t saved the new DPI to mouse yet since I could not decide which one do I want
GO! MALWAREBYTES!! SCAN EVERYTHING!
Who needs viruses when your antivirus becomes the virus 😄
How many people work at Logitech that they can’t get one software working in 2 years
I just stopped using Norton when it determined my fallout new vegas install as a dangerous power virus and went haywire when I played it
windows defender and an up to date OS is enough
I stopped using Norton back when it tried to become malware upon uninstalling.
Yeah no, dude.
My OS was up to date and this Sasser got straight through.
I’m gonna be using a sophisticated toolkit henceforth.
The story feels a little the fbi are watching my every move kind of thing.
Malwarebytes, Spybot, rkill, hitman pro.
The malware can actually just fuck right off.
Oddly specific
@young pecan meanwhile just not using any aftermarket antilmalware is probably better
This is most likely going to be first gen AM5, and together with DDR5 is going to be a lot more expensive
keep in mind its likely 3d cache wont make a difference if you game above 1080p and most likely not going to be on a SKU below 5900x
@old marlin Maybe if MB didn’t immediately catch the Sasser and yeet it.
But it did, so aftermarket AV good...?
ok question, are you actually still running win xp?
or is it just a sasser type thing you got
Nope. Win 10 latest.
I thought sasser has been dead for a long time
Idfk how the hell I found a Sasser that actually runs on this OS either.
Maybe someone is trying bullshit, but it ran EXACTLY like a Sasser of old.
What it was turned out to be a back door Trojan that installed a Sasser that only barely didn’t fuck me over.
Though Malwarebytes managed to immediately catch it after I removed the trojan’s bullshit stopping me from installing it.
I suspect it was a near miss from either identity theft or a ransomware attack.
you heard of the concept of false positives
Yeah nah, this shit defo wasn’t a false positive.
I’m undergoing training for cyber security, specifically red team pen testing.
This was very real and very nearly able to cause some pretty scary damage.
Apparently you haven’t.
It’s more yeahnaah
No r.
Emphasis on the a.
Maybe, it defo changes depending on where in aussieland you are.
@reef tundra I very much doubt false positive, man.
We were looking at 300+ infected files all throughout roaming, sys32, dug into the boot sector, and spread all throughout the documents and temp/cache folders.
Looks to have been a backdoor that used an exploit of some kind to allow admin access to throw a file into boot sector and force a restart, from there it simply executed a bunch of changes before any security came online and wrote a bunch of files.
That’s pretty much exactly the traditional attack of a Sasser.
Was trying to do all sorts of BS like modify the Hosts file and change the adaptor settings, specifically the DNS settings. Presumably it was attempting to link to more external services and download malware packages, and among them I would guess spyware, ransomware, and more backdoor/Sasser combos. Not exactly what I’d call the most light of attacks.
Not so much a Sasser as those are dated, but the operation was remarkably close to one.
Yall a sassy bunch of sissies
This is the perfect example of why DLSS isn't marketable for a developer
It's at best a checkbox they can tick
#doubt
But when the creator of the new "Looter shooter amazing edition 13" try to market the game as 'able to hit 60 FPS thanks to DLSS', they will rightfully get shit for not optimising their game for all audiences
That's an assumption.
Meanwhile, FSR gets that benefit. Devs can just put it into their game, without requires specialised AI training through an Nvidia program
The FPS boost also is larger, making a setup possible where a (console) game is able to hit the same framesrates at 1080p all the way through 4K. And that's a marketable benefit
It's also virtually hardware agnostic, legacy hardware excluded
Brand specific optimization has been a thing for a decade and a half.
I thought DLSS 2.0 doesn't require that training thingamajgi
It doesn't - But it helps.
Let's see this FSR in action in games before being so dramatic.
Also, DLSS isn't doubling down as a reason for people to try a game.
While the cool new kid on the block, RTRT, makes people buys games to see the 'cool, new tech', DLSS does not do that. Nobody ever goes out and chooses a game to see 'the cool, new DLSS'. Nice if it there and you can use it, but people do not buy games because it's there.
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-geekbench-cuda-and-opencl-performance-leaks kinda assumed so, but this looks like a confirmation the 70 ti at least makes sense perf/$ wise if there were normal stocks available
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti performance The RTX 3070 Ti tested in Geekbench. The upcoming Ti upgrade for RTX 3070 will be released next week. Today NVIDIA released a press driver that allows reviewers to begin their testing. We have already seen results from Ashes of the Singularity, which unfortunately are not very accurate. Thankfully, […]
mostly I think this could lead to amd adjusting prices a bit once stock resumes normal levels in 2045
I think we'll see new hardware before stock normalises
yeah the only thing we know from the FSR reveal is that amd got REALLY good at getting any sort of leak under control if they so want
zen3 performance wasn't really known until like the same day and now gpu division gets less leaky
Differences in quality of the result do not matter, given all the advantages it has
well, not fully out of nowhere, just a lot earlier than people expected since stacking was already on the roadmap
DLSS will only stick so long as Nvidia is throwing money at it
but yeah, the details were new but as mentioned, on cpu side we already saw they can tighten lips now
I think they're using the chance to do a 'simple' implementation to iron out any bugs and not immediately apparent problems
Also, scale up mass production
It also gives them a chance to introduce the AM5 platform in time while taking as much time as they need to finish Zen 4
And iron out new platform issues
All-in-all, I think it's a very good move
I think frank is busy enough telling his old alienware buddies to fix their shit
they are running a promo with ryzen systems but the links are sold out and redirect to intel systems
Ouch
was at the peak of irony when the amd account retweeted it and not a single ryzen system was on the page
but yeah, 6800m looks like a really good laptop thing so we could see some nice things
If there's one thing I like, it's that AMD now seems to be in a position where they don't appear pressured to a move any more
Since Zen 3 was the hit it has been, I feel like they're starting to take whatever time they need to do whatever they want to do
And I hope it leads to superior products going forward
Has there been any timeline for RX 7000 series yet?
AMD RDNA 3 [updated]
Release Date: late 2021 or 2022
Yeah
hmm FSR info date was 22nd june right? means we dont get any news from AMD at this years E3, guess just a week after comptuex that makes sense though
so I guess until alder lake is about to release we wont get any new announcements from any of the big3
We might get a detailed introduction to the tech
well unlike amd intel needs that after this computex show
Wait, they did one?
Oh, right
It was that thing that sounded like it was trying to convince shareholders of something
I appreciate you removing link previews to not clutter channels but it does make it harder to judge if a link is worth clicking on it
yah I listened to it a bit but was just the same I already saw people post
but I guess nice to see more people realise this has been long planned by amd and is solid roadmap execution
now its just supply and reliable software for the big boom to stay on top

well then again..
stock market usually doesn't actually relate to how good a company is doing and I want my stock to go up, so fuck up if that makes stonks
https://www.anandtech.com/show/16702/nvme-20-specification-released so uhh, lots of changes for the spec but barely relevant for consumers yet from what I get

Ahh seems to be AMD Radeon Pro with Navi 21 GLXL GPU
AMD waifu reveal?
It took me 15 years to find a fictional waifu
? this is nothing that outperforms navi21 for gaming
I would not want to be in the same room as something that outperforms navi21 on the same architecture and node, using a blower card.
I've got etymotics it's fiiiine
well guess 8th it is for either CDNA or workstation navi?
Maybe they will release the full image of yo mama. got em
question:
how did they get quin's mum in frame?
without using satellite photos?
got em
pfft, they use chiplets, you should know they can stack single images
They somehow managed to take a picture of my mum the size of a black hole
Atleast no light leave the gravity well so they could not directly observe my mum
CDNA already launched...
It's WX6000 series.
oh yeah, meant cdna2, dropped the 2 by accident
but yeah think cdna doesnt have video outputs if im not mistaken? so its workstation rdna2
Rotational media support enables support for HDD on NVMe with updates to features, management capabilities and other enhancements required for HDD support.
Something big is coming? 3080 Ti competitor obviously grappa
So, the Navi 21 XTXH? Oh, wait...
The email URL says “utm_campaign=2021-06-03-consumer-radeon-pro-w6800-w6600-pre-announce” ah
no need for speculation
I'd say the 6900xt is equally stupid as the 3080ti
200€ less stupid?
im only at 1440p ultrawide 100hz and a 6800 isnt enough
so you definitely dont need 4k for those cards to not be enough
Try high instead of ultra 😄
think I will see if I can either get a XT oder a 3080 at reference price otherwise I'll just wait for end of next year for rdna3
RDNA3 will be sooner
AMD RDNA 3 [updated]
Release Date: late 2021 or 2022
It's going to be tough
80 ti, 90 and 6900xt are all dumb products agree
Imagine shdds with nvme speed cache
- ways to have hdds via pcie just so we can get rid of sata, big fan of that movement personally
I'm beginning to think YouTube Music shuffle isn't totally random
There are many cases I see 2 or 3 songs from or featuring the same artist in a row in shuffle mode
I have about 600 songs in my playlist and it happen to put these together
i've had that happen before but I don't make playlists
There will be like two songs by Caravan of Thieves then a song or two by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy... Then something by Circus Contraption.
wink wink nudge nudge cough cough go listen to them, they're great
Illusory correlation
300MH/s with 5 cards with zero optimizations. Mmmmmph!
No BIOS modding done either, with some fuckery I can likely push them all up to around about 64 MH/s, possibly.
Casually leaking his IP?
rolls eyes Ok sure, you can have my private IP.
Didnt know you were near me. cannot ping you though. Even all your ports are down.
My public is covered.
Even my router doesnt know your device.
Maybe because you're trying to ping a router outside of your network.
But.. the hacker guides told me.. reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
cmatrix on one monitor
through lolcat for added effect
that one website where you can fake type
Thats some cheap ram you got there
Well yeah.
13.8 gb for free
The entire system is designed to be cheap except for the power supplies and GPUs. :P
And fans.
Was not gonna skimp on airflow. Had I been able to justify A12x25s I would have got them.
Went with a slightly lower quality Noctua fan set instead. Still great fans, depressingly not A12x25s...
I got a blown A4x10
It did not survive my experiment of putting 0 to 24 volts test. hehe
its only rated for 5v
it died somewhere around 12v sounding like a jet engine
Atleast I got good sleep after that
I honestly think 4K is easy on 2080 Ti and above cards. Just dont use Ultra / decadent settings
Logic is a little broken but I got the idea
it really depends on the game
You can do 12k on a 950 with only the calculator
^
I love this PC
I put it to sleep cause I got an exam today, and I had a shit ton of good tabs open
Wake up, turn on the PC
"PC shut down cause of an unexpected system failure"
Jeez thanks a bunch
Not even the first or second time this happens. I blame this ASUS mobo
Does it fail to refresh the memory or something
When you try to enable virtualization in the BIOS, the system COMPLETELY fails to post
And you basically have to cut the power cause none of the front panel buttons are responsive
Then just resets the settings
No hyper-v for you
Same shit with changing nearly anything else, like XMP, fan profiles
Just completely dies when trying to post
Do they hope the compiler will test their program or something?
I had some significant problems before with my card
Like graphics driver just dying
That is the kind of morale you want to run the entire system on
But a good driver update just fixed those issues
Mostly
Maybe once in a blue moon it'd still just decide to die in certain use cases
So yeah rn I'm mainly mad at the motherboard
Then again I'm not sure if it is the motherboard, what else could be causing it anyways
I got a msi currently. I bought it for cpu compatibility and the pcb is frosty white-ish, it looks nice mostly and runs what i want .
no issues so far
I mean, if a system fails to post cause you tried to enable a few fan curves, that is a red flag the mobo is failing, no?
Oh and the most ironic shit about that situation
ASUS has their own fancy proprietary BIOS
It turns out it even has a serial and parallel capability. Can even run an old printer or something if im bothered to connect a connector to the headers
And the fan curves are "Normal or ASUS optimized", normal being default
I enabled ASUS optimized and the system crashed
Fucking ironic
The one before was an asus. Remember it being a pain to get linux loaded.
Nowadays I don't really trust ASUS products that much
Whats that, some military base?
I know others put some faith into them, but personally I always deemed them budget quality
I mean their high end laptops seem rather quality
But you pay enough for those to warrant quality
Oh I remember why it was such a pain. It doesnt allow uefi or secure boot for linux even if it(the iso) had full support for them
Oh right another shitty company
Dell
The best Dell product I ever had
Was a laptop backpack
Jesus christ that backpack was really good
Got it for 30$ refurbished, it served me for years
He is gonna coom just thinking back about it. morty
Eh Alienware despite being owned by Dell actually produces quality
At least so I heard
I need to get a new backpack as quality is shit and it wont last 1 year without tearing more nvidia drivers with x11
I remember some sysadmin talk about how tough those ruggidised laptops are
Why are you looking for a bag, just buy a backpack
Some dumbass tried to get a new laptop so he litterly use a burner to slightly damage the bottom side. worked like no tomorrow and he didnt get a new laptop
That sounds razer
The Synapse 25 is a carefully calculated
They ran the nunbers it might be fine
but were very carefull around the calculator
But one thing..
where the RGB at
The thing sounds like a mase of pockets and stuff. Or atleast skimming over it gives that idea
An apparatus includes a command buffer configured to temporarily store commands. The apparatus also includes processing units disposed at a substrate. The processing units are configured to access a p
AMDs patent on chiplet GPU implementation
But is it in stock?
pogchamp
No
that is a nice looking card
Show us your mine as well
I hate that card because of how the power connectors are.
If they were on the side it's be a gorgeous card.
well yeah I aint using it
But Nvidia just decided to be a square brain.
Whats FE?
Founders Edition.
oh
F Edition
Fuckin' square brain edition. ._.
Why even put the power where it is?
Why? Who thought this was even remotely a good idea?
maybe from talks with OEMs?
Bruh.
and then keep it the same for retail versions idk
90% of the OEM cards have the connectors in different locations.
The fuck is this?
Why?
or maybe there will be a solid reason next gen and they wanted to somewhat get it out in the wild already
Who was asking for this? Not literally everyone has Cablemod cables.
Sure, if you happen to have the right cables for the job.
Maybe not practical, but stylistically, that looks fine
Why are power connectors not at the front of the cards? so that the cables can be a little less visible from the side of the case
That is a great question.
Why don't they just figure out a way of pulling more power from the slot itself pepega
Fuck knows why they don't stick em in the side of the cooler so the cables can just run directly down into the cable management.
too close to mobo?
Why don't GPUs have their own AC power cable to plug into the socket?
But it required extensive modding to the PCB.
yeh but these new cards need thicc connector cables
It's literally just nvidia.
They are the entire problem.
Look at this.
WHY EVEN?!
This is the intended design!?!?
WHUT?
Apple approved
Nvidia is square brain and doesn't know how to Nvidia.
Ngl that literally looks like Apple marketing
But yeah it was rumoured way in advance that 3rd gen cards will make extensive use of that new connector
12 pin or whatever they call it
Just slap a 4+2 in it
tbh I could see the reason being that next gen nvidia needs 1-2 12 pins and they want that over having 3-4 pins on the FE cards
Sure, but why the hell is it located in quite possibly the single worst available spot?
Mounting it sticking out of the front of the card would be dumb, not practical.
Where they chose just happens to be the worst possible practical spot. Why?
That photo answers my question as to why the connectors arent on the front of the card....
because they told the engineers to use it this gen to make people familiar with it and the design was already done so they had an awkward placement? as a random guess
not enough clearance at the front of the case
3080 isn't a particularly massive card, that's just a tiny case.
xd
The Zotac card in that is a little tiny one as well.
Y’know what? If we’re doing pics you can also have a pic of my really in progress nightmare of a mining rig.
Look at that nightmare cable management.
I haven’t ordered in shit for the job.
It’s just janky and everywhere.
Again - The adaptor cables will continue until AIBs, AMD (and Intel) cave and adopt 12pin for all cards.
Molex to 6pin all over again
Just revert back to IDE.
