But how are you going to cash out before the value trashes when some other coin is the new hype
...
You simply transfer with the hardware wallet...?
Ledger Nano S/X and Trezor Model T both have that as an option. Maybe you wait a few minutes.
Shit, even paper wallets take as long as scanning a QR code.
The butcher aint giving much shit about the value of scamcoin they want the real money
can't I just have a file on a drive with the keys?
hardware wallet on the cheap?
Sure, but that can be broken into easily.
Hardware wallets also have integration with 2FA as well as being a physical device you pair with something like a phone that requires either 2 or 3 factors.
A lot harder to break into. Also helps that you can carry it with you whereas a hard drive can’t be used in a cafe. :P
@reef tundra And uhh... don’t have what you can’t afford to lose in a volatile currency?
Stablecoins are a thing. Tether USD, for example.
convert to local currency asap
ezpz
That would be why I mentioned stablecoins.
They are bound to a stable currency. TetherUSD is always worth exactly one US dollar.
And is totally legit backed
So, money that is money but with more buzzwords
All crypto is money with more buzzwords, not just stablecoins.
Officially recognised? No. Tradable for goods and services? Hell yes.
Dude a few days ago sold his house for Dogecoin. Idk how much more legit it goes tbh. :P
tradable for officially recognized and used currencies?
you bet
or, buying a house for dogecoin, sure
No, I mean directly trading crypto for goods and services.
Not just cashing for fiat.
could be quite pog in the future tbh
for now,
I mean... kinda today.
tehter is questionable, other stable coins are more legit, but if either of them crash much more than just crypto has issues
^
stablecoins seem completely useless. No regulation, no insurance if it fails(like banks have to), more strain on the powernet, no government backing means fraud is going to be rampant.
You underestimate the power cost of centralised monetary digital systems.
Crypto physically cannot have intrinsic insurance as it’s decentralised, who would give it?
Third party though. That works fine.
and what if they refuse to pay out?
well then
Then you go after the throat because they’re a registered company?
walk to their central location
Lmao
with an axe
scalp a few people
then they'll pay up
for legal reasons, that is a joke
I give it a few months and the potential is certainly there.
Bruh. That guy has fucking stonks now.
Omg.
He has max 2 months of potential to sell that shit and POTENTIALLY make a profit
BTC will crash first most likely
tbh tho, I barely use my PC, and when I do use my PC, it's for fairly lightweight stuff
The money has to come from someone..
might as well start mining
Oh please. We’ll have another crash like we always will.
Hang around for the bounce and it’ll be basically fine. Happened before, will continue to happen.
China is big on crypto or so I heard
Yeh.
Yeah big on their own
HEAPS of ASICs in China.
To perfectly track all transactions
A massive majority.
Iirc something like 70% of every ASIC is hosted somewhere in China.
Long ago numbers, may be wrong.
But if it went anywhere that it looked I’d expect that number to be at 80% now.
I neede to mine and invest
Stonks.
Losing money
I went from $490 USD profit a month to $540 in a fucking hour
Mine's stagnant
Need my ID
I'm gonna start mining
My hashrate died
@young pecan you suggest hiveon?
Your weekly earnings fell
Ugh
I use it because I have actual mining rigs.
You're a farmer
Didn't you used to earn like 1.3k
Lucky block.
Luck went down slightly.
And fuck yes I’m a farmer.
Bruh, why the hell wouldn’t I?
your trade?
No idea. 2 months? Maybe more?
What are you guys using
because I got this awful thing called a plot of land with my name on it
Software wise
in the middle of fucking nowhere
PoS has been going around and around for years. Maybe this time it goes in.
@pale sigil I use T-Rex miner on Hiveon Pool.
Ethash with Teamredminer
If I adopt AMD I’m either doing split mining or Phoenix.
Were you using the right miner/algorithm/settings/batch?
Ethash is like, one of the best algos
Idk
But even their calc said I would earb fuck all
How much do you guys pay for electric
0.14 or so kWh
Lmao
0.22 USD/KWh.
So much cheaper
And what’s yours?
Like 0.40usd kwh + 0.80 usd one off payment a say
dude
Bruh.
Let me go do a thing for 2 minutes.
.3€/kWh here
germany is one of the most expensive places for electricity
still profitable to mine sadly
Ye electric costs a lot here
North of germany often has overproduction
Work out my profit
833£
Don't factor it in
still laughing about it
Estimate will do.

Since I bought it regardless
Rough number.
currency doesnt matter if its all constantly used and equally devisible
Makes the math faster.
£833 like he said
Pog.
That makes the joke.
quite a lot compared to what it was supposed to be
Ita not like its a reference
and even then, still way below what you could have paid
So assuming power price of $1 USD/KWh and a card cost of $1,300 USD you have an ROI of 4.5 months at an earning rate of $12 USD daily.
You will earn more because I did worst case scenario.
That is after power consumption, btw.
@prisma crag About that in the bad spots, yeah.
Usually we cap at 33 cents.
You lads have some expensive electricity
Man Aeon, send me your farm
We can profit off of my cheap electricity
How much
@cursive summit Getting a purely off grid solar setup soon. Zero electricity cost.
@pale sigil Check above.
I posted already.
Bruh.
Solar has a roi of 6 years or somethin
a 3080 currently makes about 20usd a day without electricity cost
Somewhere around 100MH in your case. :P
And mine with what?
Lmfao no.
ASICs are asking to get shot in the legs.
Maybe if I had $500,000 ready to go whenever.
I can hope for off grid. :P
What’s more likely is only needing grid at night.
I’d need something around 20 to 50KW for my full scale farm if I’m not retarded.
Hydro batteries
That’s doable with solar. Also hydro batteries, yes.
...?
Why?
Ah yeah.
I getchu.
Nah, not really.
My most powerful CPU can’t actually run on that little power.
The board freaks out if I try.
X570 does not appreciate low power stuff.
My most powerful computer is 3680watts. It does one thing. trip the breaker due to a dead short.
Lmao
My 12 card 3070 rig should use somewhere around 1500 watts.
Maybe a wee bit more.
Think that’s crazy?
Remember that Acer laptop that had 2 desktop 1080Tis in SLI?
Does not qualify as laptop.
By technically it was a laptop.
Really a desktop replacement tho.
Ik.
@pale sigil Post mining stat pics.
my payments are 3 times as big on average compared to 10 days ago
Oh? What’re yours?
Pro Developer tip: 30 concurrent threads are a bad idea if you forget they all have an empty while(true) and you only have 6 cores
Nah just tell users they need more CPU power
given the 30 threads was because I reduced the number of objects to test it easier
in reality it could end up with like 300
Just buy Epyc CPU.
Nah nothing
Any settings?
I did literally nothing
Miner stuff?
It's fine now
Maybe the ISP decided to cut off internet or something
I did notice sometimes my internet becomes unreliably slow
Then it comes back again for days
KGB taking action, your hashrate is now comarade's hashrate
Oh and
I figured out the hashrate problem
Wasn't me
ETHash just had a weird outage
Except for U.S cause capitalism
Hah
idk why this is so funny, but it is. $50 worth of fans on a $30 cooler
Paywalled news. Delish.
? dont see a paywall
You never see it till it's too late.
oh yeah my adblock blocks that lol
Mine doesn't. 😦
did anyone use nicehash
Once accidentally blocked such a thing by canceling loading of the page while it was loading and only had text, sometimes works
a buddy is using it with a 1080ti
making $11 USD a day, before power costs and all that

read what it says to do depending on what/how you set it up
these things have mile long descriptions for a reason
27 MH is hella slow for a 3080
that fluctuates all day though doesn't it?
do you just change the efficiency nonstop? Set a low tdp and let it do its thing
Welp - I finally have ReBAR enabled. And it only cost me almost bricking my card cause HP don't checksum their shit.

oof, yea I wouldnt touch rebar on nvidia till its in a better spot
This is what HP's "firmware update" unpacks, and then launches the BAT file. Which uses a FORCED flash in nvflash.
That's all good - Except it had corrupted the .bat file and didn't checksum error it out. It just ran the fucker.
urgh
So basically nvflash ran, blanked the screen and didn't do the update.
Now had it been the .rom file they had fucked up... yeah. Bricked card.
I lucked out.
undervolted bur vrm temp still 90+
yea no shit, its being used xD
isn't that really really bad tho
idk depends on your card, where the temp is read from etc.
3080 VRM temps aren't an issue (unless you stack em, or have a really bad case airflow and mining)
3090s basically need active cooling on the back.
Even when watercooled.
you sure?
for gaming sure, no clue how mining loads are affecting shit
That's what I've been told by EKWB engineers.
:/
The RAM on the back gets super hot without a fan.
ii dont wanna kill my gpus life span
that's why you read up what the stuff does and what is fine/not fine
do w/e you want, mostly depends on how you want to deal with it
@young pecanwhere do you have your wallet
oh and keep your tax regulations in mind
idk how britania has its laws set for that
dont get taxed till £12,570
oh hey, Us might go back to talks with Xiaomi
lets hope they get something good and dont just go back on the ban for nothing
Alright will do
americans are hoarding gasoline now
I think it's best to let people keep doing that. Weed out some of the idiots
no I feel like this is just a physical manifestation of "florida man"
Wait why hoard gasoline what's going on
the proper way to weed them out is to firebomb people's trunks
if they're idiots, immediate explosion

people freaking out
if they aren't, explosion in a bit
Ransomware in pipeline.
National emergency to tell citizens to stop using so much gas while they solve it.
lol
Except TP isn't explosive 😄
yup
Well... not NECESSARILY
and you would think they would learn given it just happend

highly flammable though
but they dont realise they didnt need to do it
mansenov
It can be made explosive 😉
you see
that is the fun in this
every car trunk of a karen is a bomb, just waiting to be set off
🔥
yeah doesn't help litearlly every picture has a karen or karen's husband in it
iirc, you can use it to stretch the amount of fuel for making molotovs, like ethanol in gasoline (I haven't tested that, yet)
same type of people in all pictures that do this lmao
calls the manager to lift it in the car for her
back breaking task
I wonder why she couldn't have just...left the container in the car and fueled it there
OMFG
the pump can reach far enough
also
it could lead to a temporary ban of using it to fill anything thats not the car, which sucks for people who actually need it for something else
i find it weird how countries call it gas
nO MAtE, It'S PeTrOL
exactly
fuel
my vote goes to "KRAFTSTOFF"
that sounds kick-ass
makes petrol seem like some wimpy thing your grandmother sips with her friends in the park
which really just sounds like a thing grandma uses at the tea part to sound fancy
I should have said that after making my teeth crooked and drowning myself in tea
there's always next time
crooked and yellow*
but to stay on the channel topic
#Intel new branding in general is horrible.

Nice

Well didn't die but afterburner kinda fucked it
That's what happens when you OC for the first time
I just don't normally fuck with these things
idk I have yet have that to happen with any OC

Okay I'm actually interested
Fuck happened?
All I did was install Afterburner
And checkmark this
For further memory OC
Died 1m later

I'm guessing the card just can't possibly run that low
And the sensors are fucking themselves
Okay, 3rd restart, uninstalled Afterburner
Card still fucked
Why did I have to bother with this
dw, worst case you now have a reason to get a new card
During mining boom
While being poor peasant student
It's still not working properly
Fuck did Afterburner do to this
It's TRYING to work
But falling back down to lowest speeds instantly
cause Afterburner did it 😂
If I shatter my car window with a hammer I don't say "the fuck did that hammer do to my window?"
You are telling me the fact my card offed itself right after Afterburner got installed is a coincidence
I mean it works
But according to stats barely
and after you checked the box to push it past official limits
Did you restart the miner or the computer?
PC obviously
Like 4 times now
I've also never seen that checkbox in Afterburner. I must have an old ass version
could be something just for navi10
oh yeah, I see it greyed out now
Yeah both Afterburner and MorePowerTool mess with the registry
Ayy
Card works with a factory reset
So regs got fucked then
Oh no
Nope it's not back yet
Did you try turning it off then on again, like power off, flip the PSU switch 📴, hold power button for seconds then try again
just solder more ram onto it
Tfw can't even mine due to lack of VRAM
Yeah I'll try using DDU and just get brand new drivers
Just saying, fuck you for tempting me into this shit
@young pecan
and that is enough to motivate me to not mine with my main rig, but with a dedicated mining rig
thanks for being the guinea pig, vexx
WHAT
You mean literally uninstalling the fucking drivers
And installing brand new fresh ones
are you sure that fixed it thought
??
Literally DDU'd the drivers
And got new ones
Fuck's happening
I ain't got time for this, it's 2 AM
Some people are saying it's a BIOS issue
Others are saying the card's still technically OCd or something
Even though I didn't OC it at all
Man I got exams and shit
Now this
GPU exam next on the list
?
Reinstall afterburner and use that to somehow fix with that
Since that's the culprit anyways
not enough big games out yet that interrest me lol
just get an 8tb hard drive
so get 8tb ssds for the nas
the fuck are you on about
using a second pc that doubles as NAS
Imagine not flexing on linus media server
USB? I mean if it is more meant to be an archiving solution
@pale sigil Download an app like Exodus or MetaMask and you’ll be able to grab your currency wallets.
Eth has a different wallet address than, say, Bitcoin.
And y'know what? Since everyone was doing it earlier.
Any of those full ones SSDs?
a, f, g are all ssds
No god, please no.
a is 4tb overprovisioned to 2.4tb so its fine
as is the micron
but the inland is suffering
Poor inland.
tho actually its still insanely fast
I can hear the screeching of the NAND from here.
its also got a hundred gigs of overprovision space and its got plenty of dram
but yea
help is on the way lol
Curious tho, why so many separate drives over a NAS?
speed
NVMe NAS...?
cant afford it
once i get a new mobo and cpu i could use this one along with a few infiniband cards from ebay but
uh
my room is warm enough already
Lmfao
the problem is latency
Not really a good way to solve that outside of SSDs, then.
I mean... you could do caching, but if you seriously need that much storage in stuff available at all times I doubt a caching solution would be all that good.
i mean
May as well just go pure SSD at that stage.
Pog
Remember when Optane happened and everyone lost their shit.
Then 2 years later SSDs were cheap and now nobody gives a shit. xD
well no
optane was already way too late for caching
and it was too low bandwidth per chip
Not at the time.
yes
Decently sized SSDs at the time were a few hundred over.
Maybe for 120GB or something you were in the clear, but not for good sizes.
it was about $20 cheaper to get a 250gb+ 1tb vs optane +2tb
which was the normal comparison that everyone made
1tb + optane vs 1tb+ ssd was only like $10 cheaper
optane was insanely expensive at launch
Srs? How much for you?
Friend of mine got a 60 gig Optane cache for $70 when they launched and it served him well for about a year and a half until he went full SSD.
More than enough for boot drive.
Yeh.
58gb
but that was well into solid nvme era
that was competing against the first e12s
And NVMe at the time was VERY expensive for good sizes.
It was far more compelling to have Optane for the boot drive and a decent M.2 for game stuff.
ah so now you want to raid them?
It was a decent way of getting fast boots when you're too poor to get 1TB SSDs. :P
~500-800MB/s max write
dude
boot optane wasnt competing with tb ssds
it was the same price as 250gb ssds
yes nvme
but x4
uh
It might be an Aus thing, we do typically get tech late.
i dont believe for a second you got a new 58gb optane for 70 aud
where back in 2018 im 100% sure you could easily get a 250gb nvme
Place near here, ComputerAlliance.
for around 70 aud
Cheap af, it's great.
LMFAO NO.
Even today you can barely get a good NVMe drive for $70 AUD.
SATA? Sure.
Not NVMe, not unless you want 200 gig or no DRAM cache.
Shit, MX500 256G drives are still $100 AUD here if you pickup.
lmao
pcpp only goes back to 2019 but you have og version 8200p for 65 aud
sn550 isnt fantastic but its solidly higher bandwidth than the optane and uh
it pretty much launched at 80 aud before sales and all that
i do remember helping a dude build a pc in aus during the dram bubble and finding a solidly alright ssd was absolutely not a problem
No, that drive either wasn't in shops anywhere or was solidly in the $120 price range.
rolls eyes And have $30 tacked on?
Ok.
$15 if you wanna go with garbage aus post.
Then your drive is either late as fuck or the box just doesn't turn up.
amazon?
i do know
yet what i also know is that any non brand name ssd was cheap asf
at least back in 2018
They also either were not in stores or had some truly shit tier shipping.
and back then apparently adata wasnt a brand name or something cause the 8200p was cheap asf
fam
Made more sense at the time to go Optane.
No shit.
That was the use case.
It was designed as a drive cache, who the fuck uses Optane as it's own drive?
but you either had to go amd to get it built in (and amd at the time was a shitshow)
or you had to shell out for virtual ssd
me?
There are plenty of better solutions for a large amount of issues?
what
Drive arrays?
like the only advantage of optane for consumers is inherent plp
As a cache drive it serves it's purpose. :P
except its worse than just getting a full speed nvme for the same price
Yet again, not at the time.
all of the x2 optanes were a waste of money
you probably just didnt know what to look for
literally noone was buying adata or patriot or toshiba back then
you could get their drives for pennies
Didn't go adata because the reputation was actually atrocious at the time.
actually adatas reputation was at its best in 2018 lol
Didn't even know Toshiba made decent desktop drives back then. They didn't exist in shops.
SD cards and the such.
Wasn't my build, btw. I ended up going with Samsung drives later down the line.
But friendo was on a redlined budget, there was zero extra money.
ssds are overpriced
bought samsung
With the system in place it made the most sense to go Optane.
Hey man, I got a good sale.
i dont believe you for a second
Umart. :D
Bruh, that wasn't the issue.
Drive was 1TB.
Used space was like 800 gig.
Can't buy SSDs for that little with that much space.
And for partitioning I'd have need to push it down a fair bit for safety.
what
So yes, Optane made the most sense by far.
dude
Had I wanted to replace his boot drive with SSD it'd have costed too much.
58gb optane has zero space lmao
Bruh, what part of cache drive do you not understand?
It's not a storage drive, it's only there to accelerate common apps.
Windows and the like.
well no
the 58gb optane doesnt support rst
you have to use 3rd party software for that
and at that point its significantly better to use a significantly faster nvme
that is the same price
With what extra money? Drive still would have needed to be bigger than the budget allowed for.
dude
At that stage we talk minimum 500GB.
ffs
At the time those were a few hundred.
58gb is not a cache drive
it is a bone stock nvme
therefore
any caching you could have used would also have worked on a 250gb faster nvme
No? That Optane simply tacked onto the HDD and it was getting fairly fast boots.
SSD speeds after a few cycles.
dude
Admittedly for shit all but the OS.
58gb optane isnt optane memory
its 800p ssds
it used standard rst
not optane acceleration
Lemme go actually find the optane SSD.
exactly
anything called "optane ssd" cant run optane acceleration
this utter garbage supported optane acceleration
this waste of manufacturing did not support optane acceleration
all these could do was intel rapid start
which worked better on normal nvmes
notice where it doesnt say 800p anywhere?
the only alright uses of optane were the free 16gb sticks that intel was giving out near the end of the oem program
but thats because it was literally free
the only other acceptable use was the x4 ssds
because they absolutely creamed everything in random latency
Aight, I can't find the module in the box of assorted components.
I see 3 other drives, but not the optane. :L
full list with model numbers
a: is missing because it isnt nvme or sata or sas or any real protocol
most jank drives of all time lmao
but you want endurance? these have endurance
the rating of this guy is close to the rating of the 1.5tb optane, and it cost 1/12th the price for about 1.5x the capacity
its not even close to the datacenter optanes but that shouldnt surprise anyone
the datacenter optanes are obscenely overprovisioned on top of being durable to begin with
oh and "pcie ssd" is the inland
if it wasnt obvious
I mean, just optane (without ssd) had really good latency, making swap memory disk from it could maybe be useful
Somehow have YouTube video in PIP on my phone
do you have youtube premium?
why
Miui?
iOS, that’s why I am really surprised. As YouTube for some reason just blocked PIP. Idk why did they do it since most people have other stuff in PIP because of it most likely and YouTube only looses ad revenue, but this time one video was working in pip. Gonna try to replicate it
just one specific video uses PiP?!
Nope, found out the way. If I send video to myself in messenger and open it in messenger I am able to play it in PIP
🤔 hmmm
IDK if it would work for Android too but this is pretty useful. Just have to open link in messenger (not in any browser), put it in full screen and then I can go to PIP
youtube does PiP in Android
They just blocked it on iOS
RIP
for no apparent reason. It always closes after 1 second and in yt app it does not even work. Literally lost revenue for them since people have something else in background instead
Elon “Market Manipulator” Musk
so its a good time to buy again? :p
pretty much
Buy TSLA
Problem with $TSLA is that you never know when Musk decides to pull the plug on anything
No, he decided he wanted to buy some for cheap.
i still believe every tweet by musk that is a screenshot is not a tweet he wants to made but something the board pushed him to do
Give me billions and I'll be your scapegoat
Fuck it I'll do it for hundreds of thousands
if you want to get rid of it because its too much of a hassle dm me
i give it a couple of days to recover
people who sell after musk’s tweets are braindead

So most people... You're technically not wrong and though.
any ideas what I could use my old computer for? :D
Well, I need to make sure it works again by installing a new CMOS battery and getting a hard drive for it first
as an overgrown raspberry pi
sell for moneyz
use it as a NAS
I was thinking either a NAS or a game server
cause next year, I will have a proper wifi router I can access :DD
I can finally port forward again
Could have any game server :D surely more than one server can be installed at once
kinda doubt it has hardware good enough for any server to run fine
I once ran a modded server on this thing WHILE PLAYING ON IT TOO
shhh
I was like 13 years old
and never had a computer before
dont judge me
hardly going to jump right into building my own :P
oh
that's what I did after leaving the laptop noob section
and the console peasants
xd
because building a gaming PC is cheaper than a laptop and a console
for better performance
I had a laptop which I used for nearly 2 years before I had internet access
before you...what
you know
my dad saw me playing pinball on windows 7 forever ago
then he started talking about how he had a pinball machine in his basement growing up
only got internet access at my house when I was maybe 12
and how you could literally pick up and tilt the table
and pinball arcades had to start nailing down machines since teenagers forever ago were breaking them
:D
welp...
wtf
actually
kinda makes sense
the only times I was able to connect to internet was at my dads house when we lived in america and also at my uncles house on his computer when we visited
living in america

For a lot of my life I had the blazing fast speed of 150 KB/s. :)
same
the fastest my wifi ever got was about 400-600kb/s
Ouch.
and now its pretty decent except downloading games
Looking at getting gigabit down in a while.
good news, my mining exploits will pay for the internet and more
Pog
Use profits to buy more cards.
well, yes, that is the plan
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.
at the end of month 3, I'll buy a 3080
It exponentially grows. :D
the only thing that worries me is the built in etherium hash limiters
coming on RTX cards from now on
I give hackers a few months to find a way around it.
I also give 90% on it being a jank mess. xD
nah unless nvidia has an oopsie that wont get solved
still, I'm gonna be safe and buy cards I know don't have hash limiters
Didn't they already defeat it with a hdmi dongle?
Wait what?
sorta, but only part of it
I see.
people have been trying to reverse nvidia stuff that would handle this for years without success
they wont suddenly be able to do it
It's that classic meme. "Who would win - A corporation who doesn't REALLY care, or a million hacky bois"
*a million hacky boiz with money on the line
True
^
Ultimately all nVidia need is plausible deniability.
well now they care to push the profits of the mining cards up
I'd buy them
So true.
Overpriced, use too much power, bad silicone, stupid marketing BS, etc.
Actual e-waste.
I'm not against the idea of Mining specific SKUs that make sense. BUT - Doing it in the middle of a crisis?
Also e-waste. I hate e-waste and I doubt nVidia will ever consider unlocking them down the road. Like those 1060 cards Linus got without output.
and have no purpose after the boom is over, gpus at least can be salvaged as long as they still work
I mean, it makes sense to make mining cards out of garbage silicone.
Just...
At the price point it’d literally mean 11 month ROI.
Fucking why even?
Not terrible.
Lmfao
I also think they cant unlock them, they most likely cut the silicon that has video output to increase margin
the earliest any RTX 3000 cards listed restock is november of this year
no shortage here
You're probably right. But given how people could get the 1060s running, at least they could offer some kind of patched driver down the road.
(of people who want some goddamn gpus)
You can't fix hardware, but you CAN release software.
yeah for the mining skus definitely
but the cpx or what the moniker was, no video part in the chip means no way to ever do that
You could pass it through though?
Or did I completely misunderstand Anthony's explanation way back?
let me double check bc I wanna be sure
Iirc it was passing it through, no?
cant find it but will keep an eye open for it, but from what I remember is that someone was able to have a look at the hardware, and they are missing parts for video signal and different voltage handling so you completely can't use it for video signaling
yes, the entire stack
:|
thankfully
just means I get to go for scalped cards, with mid 2021 or earlier receipts
or possibly switch over to AMD?
Both.
yeah just get a 5700 for 1.2k
:|
hash rate is really lacking for the money
but getting a NVidia card with a hash limiter would be even worse
but hey, as long as it can make me $300 USD a month, I can't complain about a 4 month ROI on a 6700XT
4 month ROI only if the planned ETH change to make mining not work anymore in 2 months isn't coming out
That’s not how PoS works.
proof of stake will require...
PoS requires Eth stake to be selected for a node.
That’s literally it.
More changes, yeah, but that’s the core.
Higher Eth stake = higher odds at being selected for a node.
To a point, at least.
I mean I wouldn't put it past them that it also extremely increases the difficulty or something by accident
No, not really.
Difficulty spike is because of the stake required.
If you can afford the stake you can afford to mine.
Also add that the stake only fucks off if you mine a fraudulent block.
Basically you stay near a good validation node and you suffer shit all problems since the generation is higher than any potential loss.
PoS is scary when you’re dirt poor, but the GPU literally pays for it’s own stake.
Though also consider that PoS is looking at 40% difficulty increase, Eth is also about 40% more valuable now. That’ll go up.
just put your electricity cost and the model in the first google result for mining calculator and it's a good estimate
@cursive summit https://www.techpowerup.com/282170/msi-warns-against-malicious-afterburner-website
You didn't get that one, did you?
MSI is informing the public of a malicious software being disguised as the official MSI Afterburner software. The malicious software is being unlawfully hosted on a suspicious website impersonating as MSI's official website with the domain name https://afterburner-msi.space. MSI has no relation with...

Wait how does the real website look

Don't forget your tax rate
ugh
I doubt the canadian government would give a shit about me making a few thousand a year mining
they have other and better ways to tax me
yeah they wait a year and then hit you with tax+ extra cost for not having it all registered properly
ctr is pretty overhyped and useless imo
I dunno about your laws, but in Germany tax is calculated for the sum of your yearly income
nah its not overkill like that, just that you can either use generic timings to improve or have to manually figure out stuff anyway
same here, but I don't recall them taxing mining unless it's a full on business and producing lots of money
CTR isn't that special at getting values aside from the generics and you need to manually test anyway afterwards
I thought the main purpose of CTR was to optimise for many MHz you can get out of the stock voltage
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Treat it like income from stocks. It's speculative trading
I'll check the tax code, most of the shit changes have come under trudeau the past few years
very possible he messed that up too
Taxing speculative trading is nothing new
Crypto is just a new, volatile way of doing it
I'm already chuckling seeing many many clueless miners getting hit with cases of tax fraud in the coming years
To be charged with fraud you need to be knowing of it though
False
Most likely the shock is the irs sending the bill
Then again, how can you even 'not know' that you're making an income from mining?
Because they didn't know it counted towards it. Usually you would first get a notice and only when they can prove you actually knew or refused after they told you. Otherwise they claim the unpaid taxes and move on
US IT in a nutshell.
I tend to overdeclare everything, whatever is not taxed will get refunded here. Prevents having to pay more later
The pipeline hack revealed a million gaping holes. So many devices open to internet that shouldn't even be on a LAN.
