Before switching to linux on my desktop I did use the igp for video out.
As nvidia drivers don't downclock fully when hooking up 3 or more monitors I had 2 of them I don't generally game on hooked up to the igp.
On linux the propriatary nvidia drivers do not work well with other drivers so I switched back just connecting the gpu and making sure to disable the 0rpm mode by changing the fan curve.
Having 0 rpm enabled would result in them spinning up about twice a minute which gets annoying pretty fast / is not good for the fans.

I think the DP is the furthest from the PCIE
cause everything uses the display 2 such as the boot messages and OS logos and splash screens ETC
Windows also uses display 1 for login also, so its not a Linux thing
Seems login managers like HDMI better than DP
it does display on both but only the login box shows on display 1
