The problem with XInput on Ryzen systems for some ports can be only Wooting related but for know it's unclear.
Because the Wooting isn't an official controller the support can't be guaranteed.

fickle ore
#

@golden girder Because I am on MSI

#

Mouse doesn't do that

golden girder
#

It should not happen at all that the Wooting influences other peripherals. It's much more likely that there is a problem with the controller or driver.

fickle ore
#

I can verify with 2x mice connected or 1x mouse + random keyb

#

checking temps atm tho

golden girder
#

Of course as long as the cable is correct.

#

Only if the Wooting introduces bad signals due to a bad external or internal cable or bad MCU it would be able that the Wooting would cause the issues.

#

The chance for this is very rare. Normally it's either all or nothing and a partial error is very very unlikely.
That said I know about a customer who had problems due to a bad internal cable causes the Wooting to not work on his systems while it worked on another one. But even then it hasn't influenced other devices.

#

I have read that a few users have trouble when a high polled mouse and keyboard are used on the same controller. To me this sounds like a weird issue and indicates a problem with the controller. I don't know anything about that, maybe this is true maybe not.

This problems seems to fit with yours because the Wooting has such a high polling rate (1 kHz). You should be able to test this by changing the polling rate of your mouse. Typically a modern gaming mouse allows you to change the polling rate.

#

It can also be that due to a problem with the driver your OS has trouble with one or all devices. So it's also worth to connect the devices and do a clean reboot so that the OS loads everything from the fresh instead of a cache dump.

cursive summit
#

Hello wall of text

crisp granite
#

with 2-3 devices with wicked high polling rates, iirc

golden girder
#

As mentioned I can't say anything about this despite that I also find it very weird.

crisp granite
#

I haven't tested this with a wooting though

golden girder
#

But from all the things I read about USB issues on Ryzen systems it would not surprise me. 😄

crisp granite
#

I haven't had any on my ryzen system though

#

is it tied to certain motherboards or chipsets?

golden girder
#

I can't tell...

crisp granite
#

well

#

I'll test my system with one soon

pale sigil
#

seems like keeping the wrapping on saved me side panel

crisp granite
#

damn

#

did you damage a TG panel?

pale sigil
#

No, the seal saved it

#

I didn't peel it just yet

fickle ore
#

@golden girder Ok, It's not a wooting issue. A random logitech k120 125hz usb keyb doesnt work in the cpu usb port, if I already have a 1khz mouse connected

pale sigil
#

also

#

Scan emailed me asking how my system is doing, i said its fine however thermals are really really bad... dont worry though ill fix that however if you wanna send me some thermal paste that would be nice 🙂

#

the bundle i got

fickle ore
#

Also zen 3 only has 1 USB controller on the cpu die. Device manager lists 3 USB controllers but 2 are on the chipset and only 1 of them handles the mobo backside I/O, one seems related to the frontpanel or one of the internal connectors. It's safe to be disabled if you don't use it

#

if they fix that I can disable both chipset usb controllers

young pecan
#

Yep, that there looks like 2 Xeon packages stuck together.

hard thicket
#

a wanna be threadripper/epyc

young pecan
#

Not 100% sure.

fickle ore
young pecan
#

Looks a little different.

#

Closest to Epyc, for sure, it'll maybe have 100 cores or so, which is insane even by today standards.

hard thicket
#

there are already high core count compute units from intel

#

Xeon phi

#

like some crazy amount like 256

young pecan
#

Xeon Phi is a very unique platform.

#

This is a more generalized chip.

#

And if you wanna talk core count, IBM has some old shit with 500 cores or so in a single compute cluster.

hard thicket
#

well my point is more or less, high core count doesn't mean much when the IPC and clockrates are low

young pecan
#

True.

#

Though Sapphire Rapids might be the start of an Intel comeback.

#

That surprises me.

hard thicket
#

what intels true enemy is currently efficiency

#

beating the efficiency of the EPYC cpu's is some huge challenge

young pecan
#

Thought they'd shrink the architecture to at most 8nm before trying to force IF tech in.

#

Showed their hand a little early, would have been better to pull a Ryzen gen 1 for the enterprise space.

#

Might have taken a few more years, but nobody is trading up for Epyc quite yet anyway.

hard thicket
#

i mean there is still the zen 3 architecture which could be implemented into a new epyc/TR series

young pecan
#

Still wouldn't change too much.

hard thicket
#

on the high core count ones yeah not much

young pecan
#

That kind of hardware swap on an enterprise stage requires months of work and the downtime can be immense.

#

Realistically I'd say you maybe do that over 5 months.

#

Just moving the new stuff in the building will take a week.

hard thicket
#

depending on the size of the server farm, thats quite reasonable

young pecan
#

I'm thinking maybe 80 racks.

hard thicket
#

that's plenty

young pecan
#

Sure, but that's what you'd be using Epyc for.

hard thicket
#

just the cost alone is somewhere in the 7digit numbers

young pecan
#

Nobody is actually using Epyc for much outside of science or other high end applications.

#

You wouldn't take it for banking either, IBM's Z15 racks are plenty for that heart.

hard thicket
#

fair point

young pecan
#

I don't see many farms using Epyc outside of massive 80+ rack scientific server farms.

#

Maybe Google, but other than that X to doubt.

#

Not yet anyway, give it a few more years before shit slows down enough that it hits the bottom line.

hard thicket
#

would be actually interesting to see the amount of sales for epyc racks compared to intel ones

#

over the past years

young pecan
#

Iirc Intel holds 80% of the enterprise market atm.

#

But that's only because nobody has needed to replace shit.

#

Give it 5 years and that number will swap.

hard thicket
#

if intel continues the way it goes currently, no doubt in that

young pecan
#

Though if Sapphire Rapids says anything I'd guess the number will likely fall 60/40 AMD's favor.

hard thicket
#

just alone from the costs

#

there is not many reasons left to pick intel anymore

#

stability was once a keypoint

young pecan
#

Maybe, possibly you can pull the platform size argument...

#

But honestly, no.

#

I guess Thunderbolt 3 exists as well.

hard thicket
#

well since apple ditched intel

#

that will also dissapear

young pecan
#

That hardly means much.

#

Apple is trying to go the Nintendo route.

#

Why share anything when the entire ecosystem belongs to you?

hard thicket
#

apple was one of the major companies that made use of the TB3 ecosystem

#

and since USB 4.0 is more or less TB

young pecan
#

True, but they've always attempted to shift completely away from anything they don't own.

#

Lightning versus USB C says a lot.

hard thicket
#

uhh yeah

young pecan
#

Thunder before that says even more.

hard thicket
#

didn't they announce that they will swap to usb c ?

#

due to the EU drama

young pecan
#

Only after being forced into it by everyone else.

#

So yeah.

#

Lmao

zenith sonnet
hard thicket
#

atleast something lol

fickle ore
#

@zenith sonnet nice

#

got HWINFO?

young pecan
#

Nice CPU.

#

I got the 3950X, still tears through everything.

zenith sonnet
fickle ore
#

my MSI board is reporting 170-240% power deviation accuracy.. Idk if its due to ECO mode or MSI faking current/voltage again

hard thicket
#

also happy on my 3900x don't see much point in going the step above

zenith sonnet
young pecan
#

I'm upgrading to a 5900X for my personal rig.

#

Was tempted to go for TR for the server.

zenith sonnet
young pecan
#

I kinda regret that not doing that.

hard thicket
#

switched my render station to a 3970x

#

was worth the price

zenith sonnet
#

The value is useless without a clean 100% load, though

fickle ore
#

@zenith sonnet wtf, ok ty

young pecan
#

Was tempted by the TR 2990WX for a while.

hard thicket
#

because of the lanes ?

young pecan
#

Lanes and 8 RAM slots.

#

The sheer power of that CPU would have worked with just about all servers for years.

hard thicket
#

i mean it's getting quite cheap nowdays

fickle ore
#

@zenith sonnet any programs that show cpu core bins or quality?

zenith sonnet
#

HWINFO I think?

hard thicket
#

the 12c/24t TR19xx goes for literally 250 bucks

#

the mainboards cost more than the cpu

young pecan
#

@fickle ore Testing each core and thread heavily.

fickle ore
#

@zenith sonnet cant find

zenith sonnet
young pecan
#

What issues does TR gen1 have?

#

Can't quite remember.

hard thicket
#

speed

#

very poor single core performance

#

and some numa node issues i believe

fickle ore
#

ah but it doesn't show whether its like bronze/silver/gold/platinum

#

etc

young pecan
#

Iirc TR gen 1 didn't touch NUMA at all.

hard thicket
#

not ? odd

young pecan
#

Only at Gen 2 did they have 2 nodes, and that was only on the high end models.

hard thicket
#

then mixed things up

fickle ore
#

@zenith sonnet seems like I got good temps, no game has yet breached 55 celsius

#

how to test better?

young pecan
#

What're you looking to test?

fickle ore
#

5800x

young pecan
#

Ok, but what info are you looking for?

#

Efficiency? Max clock speeds? Max RAM speeds? Thermal limitations?

#

There's a lot to test, idk what you want.

misty pier
#

at least you aren't getting 85C like callum lul

fickle ore
#

max clockspeed/temps so as to figure out binning of my cpu

young pecan
#

Grab a benchmark program and run all cores at a locked freq, tune it from there in the BIOS to maximize all core clock, work from core 0 to 7 and maximize each core individually with voltage offset mode until you can go no further.

#

If you really wanna push shit as far as is safely possible you can fuck with base clock and multiply to run the CPU redlined all the time.

#

Just make sure you're doing water cooling or LN2 if you plan on that, 'else it'll likely die in a week.

fickle ore
#

Nahh I think I'll try curve optimizer or PBO +200? idk the terms yet

young pecan
#

shrugs

#

I've always found a manual touch tends to work the best.

#

Had an old GTX 970 that was running dangerously close to voltage burnout for 8 months.

#

That card still works, btw.

fickle ore
#

let's see what prime95 can do

#

@zenith sonnet try run prime95 small ft's

#

my all core is with PBO auto = 4124 mhz, 74*c

#

Doesn't go higher than 74 celsius, guess I did something right lmao ppl are getting 90c insta

young pecan
#

What's your cooling?

fickle ore
#

5800x + NH-D15s + NF-12x25 + 1 tube of kryonaut which wasnt enough so I added a bit of noctua paste and mixed em 😄

young pecan
#

Well no shit you're getting decent performance.

#

It's an NH-D15.

crisp granite
#

NH-D15 is the best

young pecan
#

Not anymore.

#

Ice Giant Thermosiphon runs better.

crisp granite
#

true

#

thermosiphon is bae

young pecan
#

Also any good AIO.

#

EKWB has a 3 fan AIO that I use for my server.

#

3950X at 4.92Ghz all cores only hits 80c in a controlled room.

reef patrol
#

The Ice Giant is ugly af though and relies on gravity.

#

Also about twice as wide as the D15

wheat plume
#

oh heck :D they improved th output for the find() command in mongo shell :D

#

its actually not all in one line now WOOOO

young pecan
#

Ice Giant actually looks fairly cool, and what does it relying on gravity matter? Most configs allow for it easily and a lot of cases allow motherboard inverting.

reef patrol
#

It looks cool? Mkay...

#

Gravity matters a ton.

young pecan
#

Yeah, it does.

#

Fortunately the magic of standards makes that pretty easy. :P

Whenever I hear some company like Twitch talk about ads are essential to their business model...
I wish they would understand that ads nowadays are psychological torture more than anything.

pale sigil
#

Yup

crisp granite
#

they still are revenue

#

the alternative is charging users

#

which will hurt them and users more

#

it's the best of the worst really

pale sigil

They make so much from donations efc lol

what?

donations?

#

they aren't a charitable org.?

how the fuck does that work?

Eh, how can charged business model ever be worse?

@ashen spindle what would you say I should sell my 7700k and mobo for

What would you

fickle ore

uhh

crisp granite

around 200-300 euros for the bundle?

fickle ore
#

Why tho?

pale sigil
#

Because I'm selling my old hardware

wheat plume
#

never knew what an "out degree" is until during the exam yet I was able to write a method to find out how many there are :D I am proud of myself

public int outDegree(int v) throws IllegalArgumentException {

        int count = 0;

        if(!adjacencyLists.contains(v))
        {
            for(int i = 0; i < adjacencyLists.size(); i++)
            {

                {
                    count++;
                }
            }

        } else
            throw new IllegalArgumentException();

        return count;

    }
pale sigil
#

The cpu alone sells for £230 here

#

And the mobo £50

fickle ore
#

Nobody will pay that, I'd pay max 100$ if I were on a budget, but hey, ppl buy weird things

crisp granite
#

uk pricing...

fickle ore
#

even then I'd rather get something else

pale sigil
#

Lol wtf

#

$100 for a 7700k

fickle ore

why do you think 7700k is worth anything?

crisp granite

@pale sigil just sell it for market pricing, or a little less if you want it gone fast

pale sigil
#

fickle ore
#

it is, but if u can get 300$ go ahead. FAST.

#

11th gen releases soon.

crisp granite
#

ngl $300 for an i7 7700k is dogshit

fickle ore

crisp granite

that could buy a 5600X here

pale sigil

True or not it works damn well, actually...

🤔

#

i kind of want to see more downdraft coolers tbh

true quest
#

chromax makes me think of razer

#

seems like a name they would use

hard thicket
#

get an aio, make a noctua fan swap

#

then you are good to go

#

the fans that come pre installed with aio's is what makes them so bad

young pecan
#

A12x25’s are great, yeah.

hard thicket
#

or arctic p12's

#

come ridiculously close to a12x25's

#

for 1/4th the price

zenith sonnet
#

The light brown is the nstural colour of the plastic used for the rotors

#

It's some actual high-end stuff

young pecan
#

Ok, but explain why that makes a performance impact?

#

Say that it lets the blades spin 200rpm faster at tighter tolerances, ok then.

#

What would colouring the blades do?

#

What, you lose a fraction of a fraction of your performance? I don’t see it.

zenith sonnet
#

Because the rotors expand with time, and the black dye speeds up that process because it makes the plastic weaker
And they can't keep the same tight clearances

young pecan
#

Why not use a stronger and lighter polymer?

#

They’re certainly not using the best they could.

zenith sonnet
#

If they could, they would...
They're using some custom high-end shit
That price doesn't come from nothing

young pecan
#

Hmm.

#

Give me carbon nanotube fans.

#

I want them coated in vantablack.

#

No reason other than awesome.

zenith sonnet
#

Maybe one day
Dunno how moldable or brittle they are, though

young pecan
#

Probably not as good as custom polymers.

#

But the awesome factor is defo there.

zenith sonnet
#

The NF-A12x25 has 0.5 mm or so clearing between rotor and casing.
And it needs to maintain that for 7 or whatever years of warranty while running at max speed without the rotor blades stretching from centrifugal force

#

That's a long fucking time for a polymer

#

Add just a little dye to mix and it starts scraping and eventually breaks the blades off

hard thicket
#

the plastic they are using which they are injection molding in masses is pretty unique due to the required heat to make it work at all. which is at above 200C

#

that's not easy to do nor achive

#

there are plenty of reasons why those fans are so expensive aswell

crimson wigeon

But also, it's an eye catching unique look, I like it

pale sigil

ashen spindle

but it's otherwise quite normal to buy something where you know the shop will get it but not quite when

idk seems quite normal then to me

most of the time stores here list an ETA date, if not you can still buy if you know they will get it but logistics dont tell when

fickle ore
#

Coming from a i7 2600k to a 5800x, the difference is so huge. Even playing OW before at lowest setting 50% render scale, at 180 fps I couldn't see anything properly when tracking at high speeds close range (tracer) and now with 5800x at same fps capped, everything is so visually clear. Not to mention when I put 300 fps stable, I can actually see shit.

#

I didnt think it would be this big

on a 144hz monitor

#

its crazy

ashen spindle

50%render scale wtf

fickle ore
#

yea

#

anyway my i7 2600k was 180 fps stable aswell

but I couldnt see shit in-game if I tracked fast

I guess the frametimes/stutter was that bad even if the avg frame was stable at 180

fickle ore

huh I think i7 2600k released in december 2010

#

anyway, yeah, big upgrade

zenith sonnet
#

Interestingly, my GPU only draws 35W when I'm in the pause menu of CP. Merely 12W more than idle. That's quite something

reef patrol
#

The main menu is basically just 2D surfaces.

#

Not much to do.

#

Compare it to a game with a 3D modelled main menu like... Starcraft 2

zenith sonnet
#

Now compare it with a 2D game like Graveyard Keeper, which burns 50W at 60 FPS in the main menu. CP runs at 141FPS.

#

Just over 10W more than full idle power draw just for pausing the game is pretty damn good for a 3D game

fickle ore
#

@ashen spindle In Valorant the SIM frametimes are 6-8x lower than i7 2600k btw, 0.5-1mS.. Cpu seems to able to push 1-2k fps, unless RHI thread is somehow bottlenecking total throughput (RHI is 0.3-0.5ms)

#

😄

ashen spindle
#

yeah sounds about right in comparison lol

fickle ore
#

for reference, i7 2600k SIM frametimes were 3-5ms, RHI 1-2ms

crazy 6-8x improvement XD

halcyon moss

@zenith sonnet its impressive how heavy graveyard keeper is

@zenith sonnet yo, can you get 2000 FCLK:UCLOCK?

zenith sonnet

What's your SOC voltage?

Set SOC voltage manually to 1.1V in BIOS

#

HWINFO reports correctly

#

zenith sonnet

I'm also down to 17W now

#

But it's weird

Also, I think the BIOS is just handling XMP weirdly

only benchmarks boost to 4.8ghz

pale sigil

ashen spindle

yes, hence my question if the panel on/off comparison was only made for cpu temps

wheat plume

yeah...

ashen spindle

bit pointless review then

wheat plume
#

assuming itll be the same as the CPU temps with it off

ashen spindle

???? no lol

wheat plume

or maybe more cause the front fan is lower so its blowing air to the GPU more than the CPU

can tell you that even a 360mm aio isn't enough there plus lapped IHS

#

was already a hell of a rollercoaster finding the optimal setup with zen 2

fickle ore
hard thicket
#

the voltage is quite low

#

looks like a pretty good binning there

fickle ore
#

U can see my listing at the bottom

#

did u find it

hard thicket
#

did you try pushing it even more ?

fickle ore
#

idk im new to zen 3

hard thicket
#

considering the binning you've got

#

you might be able to get pretty high numbers out there

fickle ore
#

How do u know my binning?

hard thicket
#

by the average voltage and peak voltage you are running

fickle ore
#

idk looks bad, some ppl have less than me

hard thicket
#

on an all core boost

fickle ore
#

its 1,39

hard thicket
#

yeah the mainboard also matters

#

that has some influence

prime tide
#

@pale sigil bs

#

friend of mine made it worse doing that

fickle ore
#

@hard thicket tbh looks like I got one of the average bins or lower bins.. my stuff is on the 156th row

pale sigil
#

sigh

#

ive come to the conclusion that i need to dish out if i want fans that i can turn off the lights on

thick elk
# pale sigil BS or not bs?

I don't know if I would recommend doing this per se but using toothpaste for polishing is a thing. So it could very well work.
In this case it was a € 10 screen, if you don't have much to lose, why not.

I want one

well now

#

we got a glued together vision card

which is white

fickle ore
#

How high frequency is your 5600x/5800x/5900x boosting in Overwatch?

#

I'm only getting around 4.1ghz on some cores

#

can anyone check 😄

zenith sonnet
ashen spindle
#

nah I'm not installing bnet trash on my new pc

zenith sonnet
ashen spindle
#

not like it would matter, since I doubt my gpu bound use case would peg the cpu to max usage :p

fickle ore
#

are you saying if I'm gpu bound the frequency wont boost to max?

ashen spindle
#

I think it might affect it, but mostly that since I play at UWQHD, it wouldn't make sense to compare anyway :p

fickle ore
#

Yeah good thinking, I'm def gpu bound

zenith sonnet
#

Told ya yesterday

pale sigil
#

Can someone suggest me fans I can control via software

#

That isn't corsair

reef patrol
#

How many you thinking?

pale sigil
#

4

reef patrol
#

12v or 5v addressable? (4pin or 3pin RGB headers on your motherboard)

zenith sonnet
#

Isn't there something from called Quadro or Octo? That's really good software wire? Watercool or something?

pale sigil
#

Idk, asus aura

reef patrol
#

.... sigh.

#

What motherboard do you have 😛

pale sigil
#

Ya mams

#

She has lots of headers

#

Sec

#

Asus rog strix b550 f

reef patrol
zenith sonnet
#

Aww, I want those

#

Sometime when the A12x25 chromax releases

reef patrol
#

Two choices.

You use "oldschool" "dumb" 12v RGB fans (one colour, no fancy, different LED colour animations like you see on Corsair fans and such) and splitter cables.

You buy an addressable RGB controller (if we can find one in stock right now) and buy fancy fans.

pale sigil
#

When I said control I meant rpm

reef patrol
#

Ohh just dumb fans xD

#

So no RGB?

pale sigil
#

Well

#

White is fine as an led

#

I just card about rpm control

reef patrol
#

Your BIOS can do that just fine.

#

You have three case fan headers - So a simple splitter cable for one of them would do you.

pale sigil
#

Ye but I want to do it via in os

reef patrol
#

Then you simply grab the software for the motherboard. Won't make a lick of difference.

pale sigil
#

AFAIK you can't control fans with asus?

hard thicket
#

of course if your mainboard RGB controll software isn't a complete clusterfuck

reef patrol
#

What exactly are you trying to do to those poor fans anyway

#

You can set curves and everything in BIOS xD

hard thicket
#

cough gigabyte

pale sigil
#

Well tbh

reef patrol
pale sigil
#

Turn them off at night

reef patrol
#

Done.

pale sigil
#

Both might and rpm

#

I have loads of fan splitters luckily

#

nvm

@zenith sonnet whats ur ram timings atm?

I got 2x8gb 3800/ 14-14-14-28 T1 @ 1.45v, FCLK 1900. On desktop atm. Will see if stable

zenith sonnet
#

Sounds good

#

You might need a little more voltage, if unstable

fickle ore
#

yeah already got an error X_X

zenith sonnet
#

I needed 1.48V for 3666 with 13-12-12

fickle ore
#

how do I test memory

zenith sonnet
#

HCI

#

The DRAM calculator has a automated way of spawning instances

#

Just use it

#

Check every thread to like 300%-400% or something

#

Some people do 800-1000%, but I dunno

fickle ore
#

Hmm

#

havent benched yet, still seems stable in OW

#

Bitch crashed, 3800/1900 15-15-15-30 T1 now at 1.44v. Please work.

pale sigil
#

Interesting

#

this ai software from asus runs a full on tool to define the best airflow/fan speeds
