Anyone here have the Wooting split spacebar?

#

I really want a split spacebar, but can't justify the upgrade from 60HE. But I enjoy 75% more than 60%.
So I'm also curious if anyone have any intel if there ever would be an 80HE split spacebar.
And if split spacebar is as good as I though it would be.

is anyone else having this issue with valorant? it worked fine this morning when i played for hours and my pc has been on since then. now when i want to start valorant again, i get this error message
i already tried disabling and enabling secure boot. it does say that it is enabled in my windows settings
i just reset my secure boot to factory settings and it worked again. but i dual boot using linux. so i had to sign my bootloader and now the error is back...
does anyone have any other ideas? i feel like they might have just blocked dual booting nyaEeh

fair gull
#

why sign your own loader when there is officially provided shim loaders

tribal dirge
#

???

fair gull
#

id assume given you signed your own one you have to add it to the uefi trust which changes the trusted chain enough for valorant to care

#

so yeah just use the ms signed shim they provide done

tired sphinx
#

i have never had issues with this before until today
im not using a shim because i want a unified root of trust
by enrolling my own keys plus microsoft's keys via sbctl, i satisfy vanguard's requirement for a 'verified' hardware state while keeping my linux kernel signed and secure
the shim method often keeps the BIOS in a state vanguard flags as 'unverified' on gigabyte boards

fair gull
#

how

#

the shim is signed by ms and you use ms keys

#

lol

tribal dirge
#

Yeah.....

tired sphinx
#

as far as i know vanguard doesnt just check if the bootloader is signed, it checks the secure boot variable status

fair gull
#

ok but youd use default settings with ms signed shims

#

like i cant see why the ms signed shims would be worse off than enrolling your own certs/keys instead of using the factory default MS keys

tired sphinx
#

i'm gonna try something and report back if it worked

sudden imp
# wheat plume LOL

I guess microslop has figured out that everyone already uses Steam. What they don't want is people switching to another OS if gaming continues to suck on Windows - using Steam's offering.

wheat plume
#

Using Windows for gaming is unavoidable if all you play are the popular online games

#

Really the only gamers who can play fully on Linux are indie gamers and people who play the few online fps games that do allow proton access

#

And any AAA that's purely single player
Though those are incredibly rare these days

tired sphinx
#

The only game that I play, that requires windows is valorant
I believe apeks legends also has this requirement for their anticheat
Otherwise I’d have long been on Linux only

wheat plume
#

Apex used to support Linux

#

Same for GTA V Online

tired sphinx
#

I may have to scrap my dual boot because valorant refuses to work right now
They actually suspended my account temporarily for it

wheat plume
#

Funny enough
.....GTA V Online was consistently within the top 5 games played on the Steam Deck until Rockstar banned Linux

steady sail
#

but linux people are cheating ReallyMad

wheat plume
#

Valorant requires secure Boot

tired sphinx
#

no, secure boot is enabled

#

I have it set up properly

#

No issue until today

wheat plume
#

Oh not sure then

tired sphinx
#

I tried what people suggested earlier

#

No luck so far

ashen spindle
wheat plume
#

I never got that game working
Couldn't get past the vanguard boot up screen on my windows install

#

Despite having updated drivers and secure Boot and tpm 2 enabled

tired sphinx
#

It’s not that difficult to set up

wheat plume
#

Maybe I'll try again on my new desktop
I think vanguard can detect dual boot and refuse to work

tired sphinx
#

but they seem to have broken it with a recent update
They’re asking for my secure boot state to be in factory setting

wheat plume
#

It knows everything about your computer
Moreso than Windows itself does cause it runs at a deeper level on your system than Windows

ashen spindle
#

vanguard has no issue with you dual booting as long as you dont destroy any chain of signed drivers or whatever else you mess up in uefi

ashen spindle
crimson wigeon
#

I have no interest in playing that game but does it block you even if all you do is add your own keys?

wheat plume
#

I never touched that shit in UEFI
The only changes I made in UEFI was to assign Fedora as my default boot option

crimson wigeon
#

Not through like MOK or shim or whatever I mean enrolling the keys directly in the UEFI setup

wheat plume
#

It's there before you even get to the windows login screen

ashen spindle
#

you do understand that kernel level means it sits in the WINDOWS kernel yes?

wheat plume
#

Yeh
It loads before the login page

ashen spindle
#

and that the WINDOWS kernel is part of WINDOWs

tired sphinx
steady sail
#

just uninstall valorant

#

and be happy smile

wheat plume
#

I'm too stupid when it comes to secure Boot keys and whatnot

Couldn't even get secure Boot to work on CachyOS ._.

tired sphinx
#

It’s my main game and I want to keep playing it

ashen spindle
#

vanguard sits at the ring0 level of the WINDOWS kernel, saying it knows more than windows doesnt make sense if its inside of it

tired sphinx
balmy vector
#

bet vanguard doesnt know about laptop news though

ashen spindle
#

vanguard drivers gets signed by microsoft, if they would sign something that gets more information inside their own system than said system.. idk what the point would be

nimble arch
#

Does it still need to run from system boot? I recall reading they’d make it on-demand at some point.

ashen spindle
#

its still kernel level yes

#

whenever ms changes and kicks everything out from kernel it will also change how and when you need to activate vanguard

nimble arch
#

Pretty sure they’re not breaking anti-cheats, just security software is being moved out of kernel-level. Unless that’s also changed?

ashen spindle
#

everything is moving out including anti cheats thats been int he works and talked about for a long time

#

they have been working with riot before crowdstrike happened on that already

tired sphinx
#

okay, so i spent a long time troubleshooting my issue right now
and i think this is the conclusion...
vanguard is actively scanning the cryptographic hash of the entire signature database (db). it realized the db was not 100% factory pristine and threw the STATUS_SB_POLICY error

at the same time, the gigabyte nvram is broken. it refuses to save the mokutil policy across reboots, meaning i can never bypass the strict sbat metadata check that the shim demands. unlike the boot environments in ubuntu or alma linux (which contain corporate-signed sbat metadata that microsoft’s factory keys natively trust out of the box) arch-based bootloaders like cachyos get violently rejected by the shim without that override

because Vanguard essentially acts like firmware-level malware that demands absolute control over my bios, a unified secure boot setup that natively runs both my cachyos kernel and vanguard on this board is mechanically impossible right now

#

I have to disable secure boot and change my boot order every single time I want to boot into linux

ashen spindle

if people arent seeing value in it they wont buy it and the price isnt staying up

fair gull

are you teaching lana about supply and demand?

wheat plume

Ram isn't going to drop in price anytime soon :/
With all the companies pushing more and more data centers to be built

fair gull
#

i thought people know how this works

wheat plume
#

Yeh I do

ashen spindle
#

clearly not

fair gull
#

the datacenters can buy as much ram as they want but if consumer sticks start to fill warehouses price will drop

ashen spindle
#

ram prices only stay up if people continue paying it, if theres no demand it will drop

#

if demand stays we will see more dram facilities being built to produce more

#

it just takes more than some weeks so prices dont instantly adjust down but its not staying forever

#

tarrifs and such are worse especially if they are uncertain

#

and even if we say every ai company would collapse, the existing models wont vanish and hardware will improve

#

so even in that case ai wont vanish and just plateau for a while

Gnome 50 has a strange bug where the logout button may just simply not exist in the power menu ......

ashen spindle
#

micron finished a deal last month for new fab space and iirc hynix already was building one before this started

#

but yes they are also not rushing to expand if there is not a clear sign that it is a demand that will actually last those 2-3 years for a new fab to not just run empty lines

wheat plume
#

Wait it's not a bug .... Gnome intentionally removes the logout button if only one user account exists on the system

tired sphinx
#

i can get behind that but then can you even lock your computer?

wheat plume
#

Yes

#

Locking is just Super + L like on Windows

tired sphinx
#

ah oki then i dont see an issue with them removing the button

wheat plume
#

It's just stupid af
Sometimes you need to logout
Especially on gnome desktop since the only way to update extensions is to logout and log back in

#

Sometimes you just don't want to wait for a reboot instead

tired sphinx
#

but i thought you can just use win + l?

wheat plume
#

That's just locking the computer
Not logging out of the user account

tired sphinx
#

oooh i got it

#

yeah that sucks then

wheat plume
#

A logout closes the entire session so you'd have to restart all your apps and everything again

#

Logging out is needed if you need to change groups the user you are logged into
Or updating extensions
Or maybe an app needs the desktop to reload so you can logout to do that

ashen spindle
#

unhide the logout option then if you want to use it?

tired sphinx
#

theres probably a terminal command for it as well

#

at least i would assume so

wheat plume
#

Yeah
You can run a terminal command
But no regular user will want to search online or know or want to use a command to fix this problem

ashen spindle
#

when an extension needs restarting the shell, you will see a notice on the screen prompting you to logout

#

so either you see it then or you just restart or you can unhide the option to not see the logout button

wheat plume
#

The other way to solve it is to make a second blank user account
Or have another desktop installed

wheat plume
wheat plume
#

Microslop added a new system driver to Windows 11 that makes it impossible to switch your default browser
Among other things

It's called UCPD (User Choice Protection Driver)

fair gull

some guides say disable retract because over retract will jam the extruder

#

its better to actually tune it

heady hazel
vagrant pagoda
#

yeah

#

#

heady hazel
#

i mostly do not but eh cant hurt, im still baffled how bad creality pla is compared to geetech which i buy for 5€ a kg

vagrant pagoda
#

but yeah get a retract tower test

#

start at zero retract

#

and slowly go up until its perfect

#

like start 30-40mm/s max, 5mm^3/s max flow, disable zlift, wipe on retract, and 0 retract

#

then slowly increase retract

#

once that is good, save those settings

heady hazel
#

yeah ill try that for now im just printing pla and it works well , just had to make sure nothing else is messing up

vagrant pagoda
#

then increase max flow

#

see if you can still get good retracts

#

the little retract tower test is fast

#

you can cancel the test when it starts stringing

heady hazel
#

im just checking its not a gcode error

yes it dose

thats ALL softwar and the kipper devs made thier own version

both the beacon and btt use the EXTACT same ldc1612

empty wren

i see so they caught up then

vagrant pagoda

i mean yeah

#

it wasnt anything fancy

empty wren

well beacon shared some code

which eventually made it to mainline klipper

vagrant pagoda
#

it was add in 2024

empty wren
#

i see

vagrant pagoda
empty wren
#

i see so i guess the only advantage beacon has is high temp

vagrant pagoda
#

so dose btt

empty wren
#

some people have even water cooled the rev h scanner

#

or fed it 3.3v

vagrant pagoda
#

100c isnt enough for peek and 60 is more than enough for asa

#

thats likely wyt

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

60-80 isnt gonna do anything other than make cooling worse

empty wren
#

why would cooling be worse

vagrant pagoda
#

chamber hotter = lower temp delta

empty wren
#

well abs/asa wants hot air

vagrant pagoda
#

you still have to cool the plastic as it extruds or will sag/deform

empty wren
#

well in that case can pump outside air in

vagrant pagoda
#

also eddy dosent have a accelermoter to get hot anyway

vagrant pagoda
#

which will warp the part

#

you need the chamber to be at the same temp

empty wren
heady hazel
#

abs without a chamber is not a good idea imo

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

yes thats what im saying

#

asa/abs only need 60 to print

#

80 wont help

#

only time you need 80 is if the chamber is poorly deisgned and the average is under 80

empty wren
#

i have read that some people say abs/asa looks nicer at higher ambient

empty wren
heady hazel
#

i mean the surface finish might be nicer with higher temp

vagrant pagoda
#

the issue is lots of printers need 80 set to actually get and maintian 60

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

stick 4 or 5 sensors in the chamber to get an actuall average

empty wren
#

yes that would be smart

#

along with better or proper insulation

vagrant pagoda
#

i used thermal camera to build the ducts to get very even temp

#

but its easily because its a giant corexy

heady hazel
vagrant pagoda
#

i have a raidant barrier and 4 inch of foam

vagrant pagoda
#

i dont use the built in driver one

empty wren
#

that is fine

heady hazel
vagrant pagoda
#

it has the lis2dw

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

you want the most inside volume possible

empty wren
#

well yeah but here i will paint the picture better

vagrant pagoda
#

lots of air, lots of air flow and even heating

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

i use a pair of bed heaters wth headsinks on it

empty wren
#

spool holders on the core one skus reduce the internal air volume

vagrant pagoda
# empty wren

reducing internal volume means you have poor insluation or poor heat control

#

you want a BIGGER volume for more stable temps

empty wren
#

if you say so

vagrant pagoda
#

takes longer to heat or cool a larger volume of air

empty wren
#

well if that is angle you are taking

#

that does make sense

vagrant pagoda
#

you dont want rapid temp changes

heady hazel
#

hmm enclosed is the way to go but i have to say for now my 50€ ender 3v2 is serving me well

empty wren
#

you can put a box over it noah if you need a chamber

vagrant pagoda
#

bed is 1/2 alu with 2 temp probes and 500w heating, chamber is 2 300w bead heaters on alum heatsinks with 4 140mm nocutas ppc for the air flow

#

i have 4 air temp sensors

heady hazel
#

yeah i could but for now i just want to prove people wrong that dislike the ender 3

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
empty wren
#

ah slightly out of the range

vagrant pagoda
#

and per nocuta that is only for the rubbers

#

the actual fan and motor are fine to 100c

empty wren
#

i see, and probably highish insulation class

vagrant pagoda
#

yeah

#

so they could break down

#

they they are rated like 500v or something crazy

empty wren
#

at 60C that sounds safe okay, you cleared my doubts

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

the accel is rated 85

heady hazel
empty wren
#

honeybadger fans are about the same

vagrant pagoda
#

thats a 25mm

#

these are 140mm

empty wren
#

they sell other fans...

vagrant pagoda
#

and that was for the acceleromtere from btt

#

itsonly rated to 85c

#

you know what i use for part cooling

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

also did you see that roetz used a mini cordless leaf blower in his latest video

#

after i recommend one to you XD

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

thats a makita so i get why he didnt gut it

#

i cut everything off mine

#

and run it off a esc

empty wren
#

well i am concerned about the windings

vagrant pagoda
#

why

empty wren
#

and etc at 80c

vagrant pagoda
#

ecs is out side

#

that was the point

empty wren
#

correct

vagrant pagoda
#

only motor is inside the heat

#

i added a bypass port that blows some air on the motor

empty wren
#

but motor has the windings

vagrant pagoda
#

yeah

#

its also like 30 bucks

#

and im running it on like 1/3 speed

empty wren
#

for curtain cooling in the center?

vagrant pagoda
#

full speed will literally blow the extrustion off the part

#

cpap fans are like 10-20 cfm

empty wren
#

yeah they are doodoo

vagrant pagoda
#

this is 100+

empty wren
#

120cfm

#

to be exact

vagrant pagoda

yeah

empty wren
vagrant pagoda

i plan of ditching it

empty wren

the centrif are good for pressure

#

not volume

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

this will be smaller and easier to package

#

and they are all brushless

empty wren

better than cpap sure

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda

im running the leaf blower at 10~12v

empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

they are pressure fans

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

youdont need pressure

tribal dirge
#

You do

vagrant pagoda
empty wren
vagrant pagoda
#

no you dont for part cooling

tribal dirge
#

You need high static pressure

vagrant pagoda
#

the tiny opening is because you dont have good cfm

#

the goal is to keep the part at chamber temp and get the extrution to chamber temp fast

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

withouth a heated chamber pla will lift

tribal dirge
#

Mine is a tiny V0 meant to print fast because I'm impatient

#

LMAO

vagrant pagoda
#

i use mostly 1.2 nozzle with 1~2mm width

#

my goal is kg/h go up

tribal dirge
#

Fair fair

vagrant pagoda
#

i have a lgx ace magnum+

#

tribal dirge
empty wren
#

nf crazy?

vagrant pagoda
#

LGX uses the extruder as the heatsink

#

its wild

tribal dirge
# empty wren nf crazy?

Yeah, volcano block with a flow extender and a 240W heater because running a 12V heater on 24V is a great idea!!!!! dogekek dogekek dogekek

empty wren
#

geez

tribal dirge
#

I doubt it's actually 240W

#

But that's just my best guess

vagrant pagoda
#

i mean youd heat soak way under 240w

#

i cant even do 150w on a magnum+

tribal dirge
#

Oh and the bed gets to temp in 40-60 seconds because it's a 12V on 24V also

tribal dirge
tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
tribal dirge
#

Oh I am well aware

#

LMAO

vagrant pagoda
#

thats the major diff in the mosquite vs magnum

#

is longer melt, and bigger heatbreak

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

yes

#

which means it has the small heatbreak

tribal dirge
#

Yeah lmao

vagrant pagoda
#

the magnum has the condom

tribal dirge
#

But luckily I print so fast that heat creep is rarely an issue LMAO

vagrant pagoda
#

and lets you do 50w all the time

#

the mag+ has the longer melt and heatbreak to do 100

#

the prime has the ultra long melt to do 200w

#

you are running it at 50-60w max other than warmup

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

what is your flow rate on pla?

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

200w should be 400+ g/h

#

130? no shot

tribal dirge
#

way over temp

#

If it's like 240C it's closer to like 60-70

vagrant pagoda
#

you sure its 130 cubic flow and not 30

empty wren
#

rip mechnical properties

vagrant pagoda
#

30 would be CRAZY out of that hotend

#

130 is impossible

#

130 on 1.75 filament would need a servo instead of a stepper XD

tribal dirge
#

And extruder

tribal dirge
#

It's the one with the long one

vagrant pagoda
#

stil

#

you relize thats like 100mm/s of filimiment right

tribal dirge
#

Oh I know

#

Wait, 130mm^3/s?

#

Or 100mm/s with 130g/s?

#

Because I'm talking in 130mm^3/s not 130g/s

vagrant pagoda
#

no the filimint would be moving at 100m/s to get 130mm^3

tribal dirge
#

Oh yeah I know

#

That's why the extruder motor is a nema 17

#

Running at 59.8V

#

At 3 amps

vagrant pagoda
#

with a ~7:1 reducvtion thats like 200+ rpm

tribal dirge
#

It's a Voron M4 Bowden extruder

vagrant pagoda

#

really

tribal dirge
#

Although Tbf the racetrack test isn't the best test for flow

vagrant pagoda

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda

some how youre doing 130mm³ with a single bowden

his 2in1 barely dose 125

tribal dirge
#

Which probs isn't the best test to use

vagrant pagoda
#

the literally FASTEST 3d printer builder in the world with bespoke sls printed custom hotends cant do 130mm with a dual 1.75 direct drive

tribal dirge
#

Because iirc racetrack test is flawed by the fact that it measures up until you see extrusion gaps rather than mass difference

#

Which is probs why the racetrack got me results that was kind of high

vagrant pagoda
#

the limit is literally the extruder though

ornate dust
#

Are you guys talking about leaf blowers

tribal dirge

i still need to racetrack test my Ryobi 800 CFM Whisper Series

tribal dirge
#

Or what could have went wrong

vagrant pagoda
tribal dirge
#

Something likely went wrong with the racetrack test then

vagrant pagoda
#

just get the extruder step/s

#

and do the math

#

130mm³ is ~50m/s of 1.75

#

thats like 4 seconds per spool rotation

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

yeah think about the spool rotatiing 1/4 turn per second

#

that is a lot of filamnet

#

getting over 50mm³ with 1.75 is a ton

#

thats a spool rotation ever ~10 seconds

#

thats still crazy fast

tribal dirge
#

It actually fell off the spool holder several times

vagrant pagoda
#

thats also 2 hours per spool flow rate

#

500 grams an hour

#

in pla

tribal dirge
#

Yeah

vagrant pagoda
#

im lucky to hit 500 with a 1.4 nozzle and 2.85 filimint

#

direct dive with something that has 300mm+ stright sides

#

flat out it will do 450-460 in vase mode

tribal dirge
#

Racetrack in a way is sort of a glorified vase mode print

vagrant pagoda
#

generally it will do more in bursts

#

it will get peaks of 500 on ~300mm stright runs

#

450 is where it will do it continously

#

thats with a 1.4mm cht

tribal dirge
#

Hmm yeah

vagrant pagoda
#

and thats in a 35c chamber so a little preheat

#

with convection shield and ceramic around that

tribal dirge
#

I see

vagrant pagoda
#

a lot of people have put a loot of work into and 50 on 1.75 would be like top 10

tribal dirge
#

really!? I thought it would be way lower

#

I forget how much the crazy VZbot hotend could do

#

but that one is also crazy

vagrant pagoda
#

stock the hf nf is only 35

empty wren
tribal dirge
#

but it printed (albeit it looks ugly)

#

this is very weird

vagrant pagoda
#

commanded flow rate and actual arent the same

#

you easily could be slipping

tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

you gotta weigh the part after

tribal dirge
#

the problem with the racetrack test is that its supposed to keep going until you see visual confirmation of extrusion abnormalities.

vagrant pagoda
tribal dirge
#

so you cant really weigh it afterwards when you are done.

vagrant pagoda
#

not 130

vagrant pagoda
tribal dirge
vagrant pagoda
#

if it isnt 12.5g in pla then it isnt done

tribal dirge
#

and then the percent difference is whats been underextruded

#

although its so weird that the racetrack test gave such a high number

vagrant pagoda
#

again commanded and actual are different

#

tell the slicer to stop the race track before the area it goes bad

#

and weigh it

tribal dirge
#

yeah, I guess the only real way to measure actual extrusion is the blob test

#

force it to extrude a blob, and you weigh the blob and compare against the theoretical value

#

iirc there was like a website made by cnc kitchen that does exactly this

#

and you just run the gcode

#

should probs do it someday

vagrant pagoda
#

just make a cube

#

then edit the gcode to remove all the z x and y

tribal dirge
#

could do that too

I’m trying to buy a new laptop I’m going for the Lenovo legion 5 pro (4070, i7, 32gb ram, 1tb storage) but I’m not sure if there’s better options out there.. my last laptop was an asus tuf a15 (1660ti ryzen 7000, 8gb ram, 256 storage)

Ultimately depends on how good of a deal you can get. I was deciding between an HP Omen 16" (5060) and a Legion LOQ.

Ultimately depends on how much you want a metal chassis, the size of the screen and your luck with combination of hardware.

Do I repeat myself? Yes. I do do that sometimes. My brain fails to catch up to me typing 😄

I just hope I’m not making a mistake with the legion 5 pro

#

Weird thing is I feel like I’m gonna miss my old laptop even tho heh it’s bad and caused me a lot of headache

Not to mention 256gb of storage

i7 is just a range

#

Or amd

#

Oh yeah you’re right I haven’t decided on cpu..

#

Uhhh.. this is my first time buying a laptop and I think I made it painfully obvious

ashen spindle
#

again, thats not the cpu name

#

I'm asking what the cpu is

Oh…

#

I.. haven’t decided

#

Oops

ashen spindle
#

well its not a decision you asked about a specific laptop, which cpu did it have

#

cpu is like the most important factor in most laptops to know if its a good option or not

sounds like walmart employee trying to sell leftover that they cant get rid of lmao

runic valve

By they I mean like what they say about it online

ashen spindle
#

what is it you want to use it for and whats the budget

runic valve
#

I’m on the younger side of people and all I do is school

#

Some games that a gtx can handle fine..

#

For me what I’m tryna get is already crazy overkill

#

But I want it to be future proof

#

Because I’ll have to move to Singapore in a few years

ashen spindle
#

well I need to know a budget number and an example workload of workapp/game or I cant tell you what hardware makes sense

runic valve
#

That’s why I’m planning to get 32gb of ram even tho I’m a 8gb ram survivor in 2026

ashen spindle
#

like the ram doesnt matter if the rest is too slow anyway

runic valve
#

And for my workload

ashen spindle
#

just give me a number I'm not going to google what a legion 5 costs in singapore

runic valve
#

Let’s see uh zoom.. Roblox some steam games that aren’t too heavy (the games I play already can be ran on a gtx 1660)
