nah but 50c id say can happen depending on the hardware
i remember discussing bed arms with one fellow
yeah im concerned about warping if a cat sits on it aswell , even if the cat is not a chonker
it will likely slowly bow inwards
the bed was less than 3kgs
cats on average are heavier
InstallShield must be rolling in oceans of money at this rate
95% of software on Windows uses that shit to install itself
yeah thats what im thinking about aswell petg will deform if you have weight on it even if its not super hot
well heat will worsen it regardless😄
yep i wonder how heat cycles affects it given that a pc will fluctuate in the exhaust temp and you shut it down etc
also one guy designed ducts and used annealed pet, in that scenario there is less mechanical load but notice the amount of insulation he is using
i think annealing might be neat to get rid of layer lines aswell , i wonder if you could 3d print a proper foodsave bowl etc
You can smoothen out quite nicely
allthough i genuinely think folks are a bit scared of 3d printing utensils , meanwhile you get wooden forks these days at places
On the topic of that you would want the whole filament moving chain to be spec and span for no contamination.
yeah for sure
There are people who have printed food moulds too for desserts or what not
On a questionable system
This gets close to that thought https://cocoapress.com/products/cocoa-press-2-3d-chocolate-printer-diy-kit
Get ready to embark on a delectable adventure with Cocoa Press, the edible 3D chocolate printer that enables sweet personalization like never before. 3D printing your chocolate allows you to create intricate designs without the use of molds including print-in-place gears, edible prototypes, custom branding, and more!
i mean id for sure run a specific hotend and nozzle for that
i mean tpu should work for that well , i still have to try tpu printing
All MacOS + NeoVim users rejoice, you can now smack your Macbook to undo what you typed in NeoVim
https://github.com/DuncanLutz/Smack.Nvim
that one guy that made a program so the macbook moans when you slap it

📑 Translated from language_zh
I found a weird project on GitHub made by a sexually frustrated programmer, implemented using the Mac's accelerometer sensor, where slapping the Mac makes it emit strange sounds. 😨😨😨

dont kill me
thanks I hate it
Im surprised macbook has one, I guess it's a carry over from ipad since it's basically the same processor.
Oh yeah they have accelerometers in them
Discord just randomly rebooted and I got this message
oh yeah, just update your client to the latest ver
iirc that only affects your ability to join voice calls
Another annoying thing
Discord doesn't always just update
And aur can be behind
im using the flatpak discord
So was I
I had to update it outside of the store thing
Came up even though I was using discovery flatpak
Which isn't always up to date
And don't say something like not true because flatpak is updated by the community
It's many small things like this that makes Linux Desktops not just work
For someone like me it's not an issue though
You guys have discord installed on Linux?
Yeah, can just disable that with a simple settings.json tweak. I just wrote my own autoupdater though as it was bugging me so much
And I would hope that all those third party packages disable that updater..
Easier when you're on a distro that packages discord so you can skip flatpak/aur
Hello Guys am I cooked?
I had a small accident yesterday: a bit of Cola spilled mostly on the keycaps, but a few Lekker switches got wet on the sides (especially around WASD area) and a very small amount reached the spacebar stabilizer pins/holes.
• Immediately unplugged the keyboard (no power while wet).
• Removed keycaps right away.
• Used a handheld blower (Jisulife) to blow out what I could → almost nothing came out, so probably very little liquid actually entered.
• Let it dry open and upside down overnight.
I attached photos:
• Before cleaning: visible brown/yellow sugary residue around some switches and near spacebar area.
• After blowing/drying: looks much cleaner, no big puddles or new stains. Especially the spacebar stabilizers (I know the pinholes are not fully protected by the coating)
I plan to clean with 99% isopropyl alcohol tomorrow (Q-tips + gentle brushing around the sides of the switches and stabilizer pins).
Questions:
- Is one day delay okay, or should I try to clean sooner?
- Best way to clean the spacebar stabilizer pins/holes without flooding the board?
- If the spacebar feels a bit sticky after cleaning, is that usually fixable or does it mean corrosion already started?
- If some switches stay inconsistent after thorough ISO cleaning + long drying, would replacing just those Lekker switches be enough, or is the PCB likely affected too?
alcohol is your best bet imo
Dang, so when I open it up later, you think I’ll be fine when I do it tonight? I have to work, and since I work in a security area, I can’t do it until then.
well cola is likely not that bad i did it recently after months of my f2 key sticking and its fine
Yes it Only went to WASD but the Key Point is it also went to the Spacebar hopefully not into the Small Holes
when in doubt just use more alcohol and then relube if the switches are lubed that is
Alright will do so later now Ill Leave it on room temp and with my Hand Fan
Its also only a 2. Month Old Child so I Hope my Child will Recover from this PTSD
looks like an 80HE i might be wrong, but I think it has a conformal coating
cleaning up the residue is not a bad idea though
Yes, it’s an 80HE. I’m also planning to open it up, but right now, I don’t have a screwdriver to get into those holes at the back. Also, I don’t have an ISO cleaner for cleaning. I used my Jisulife Handfan on all the switches and brushed all the holes with a cotton swab to remove anything that could stick.
Do any of you know how i can get a windows key
For cheaper than microsoft because 130 is outrageous
use google and search for massgrave
tool used even by microsoft support at times ironically
I Can help you
i just buy a key online most times if needed
DM me, no Need to Buy or Pay
Yea that was my Plan aswell did the Same and it worked.
ok uhh , dump alcohol onto the keyboard. and hope for the best ... at least thats my approach
I am gonna clean my board with beer now
bro lowkey beer is devious
My dude
You tell someone to pour alcohol on it one day someone will soak it in vodka and wonder why it wouldn't work.
XD
welll he said this beforehand
Ok I'll let you off
If the conformal coating is acrylic based would be a concern
True, ill use everclear 💀
Which one should I buy first? My monitor which is the Alienware 25 320Hz Gaming Monitor – AW2525HM which is $230. The keyboard which is the Wooting80HE for $200, or the mouse which is x2 Pro Superstrike which is $180, but I gotta wait till it restocks
Actually imma not buy the SuperStrike but the Pro x SuperLight 2
Superstrike people make it out to be a game changer, you sure you don't wanna go for that?
Like it ain't gonna make you a whole lot better in games, but for sure if you practiced with it it's gonna be much more consistent
It really aint though
It's much more consistent on fast clicks, I gotta give it that
Its getting rid of pre travel which on any good mouse already is really low 🤷
Also, its qc is god awful
This I agree
Id avoid logislop at all costs until someone else picks up the tech
honestly, running a razer rn, I got nothing to call out on logitech buyers soooo...
For clicking fast yeah probably
I could see a decent benefit there
But in terms of click latency, meh
Im beastx maxxing💪 💪
Click latency tbh, massive gimmick
I think there comes a point that it's unnoticable
Like 8k polling
Most good mice have such a little amount of pre travel already
Electrical latency is no different
But the pre travel is what logi claimed saves 30+ms
Which im calling bs
Not for me
My vrt aint affected by sleep that much in my experience
Unless its like 2 days no sleep
Damn, guess I got it horribly wrong, I never have enough sleep so I am currently blaming that for some whiffs
I could do 140ms awake for over a day and high asf
However vrt kinda dont mean much in games 🤷
True true
Way more factors for reaction time in actual games where vrt doesnt matter as much (to a degree)
If your like 180-200ms+ then yeah it kinda affects you
I mean it only matters if your fundamentals are like 100% locked in
Anything around 150 range is more than quick enough
To be honest your fundamentals can still save your 200ms+ reaction (I definitely don't average 170)
Indeed they can
Im a bit slower than I used to be, I avg around 150 now
Damn that's crazy, I wish I can average aroundn that tbh
Used to avg faster 😔
I blame my nerve issues (could be cope could actually affect it idk)
Well, I am gonna blame it all on sleep deprivation and monitor and mouse latency and my pc
When i was 18 I was averaging high 130s on 240hz
That was before nerves got bad
Partially genetics
They play a role in vrt for sure
Should I upgrade to an oled monitor, but damn those are pricey nowadays
I upgraded to oled September last year
Its so worth it
I got a good deal on a new open box one so was easier for me to pull the trigger, but id still buy one at full price now
Motion clarity on oled is soooooooooo nice
Oleds have been one of the things actually coming down in price pretty drastically
Of course depends on the monitor but there are solid oleds for affordable prices
Which ones do you guys think is worth it for the price?
Honestly dont even know
My buddy sent me a listing for g61sd for 660 cad (msrp was 1000 cad)
I instantly bought that shit
Was gonna come here to ask what should I do, upgrade the 60he or go 80he but honestly now that I think about it, my monitor sucks
ASUS XG27AQDMG goes on sale pretty regularly for good prices
600 dollars where I am
5090
Tiem to get a nice 4-bay NAS
Get a 5070ti for msrp if you can
Nothing else in this gen is a good deal
5080 isn’t worst the price cost, something like only 10-15% faster than a 5070ti for double-ish the price usually
5090 is stupid investment for gaming alone, that’s a gpu that you make money with
5070 is really not worth it with 12gbs, anything below that just get a 40 series card
All in all; 5070ti for 750 or a 9070xt for around but preferably below
This is all given your in 1440p btw
5070 is their best bet tbh
5070ti has increased in price and is pretty much no longer obtainable for msrp
Depends where - here it's still easily available for MSRP
But yea I would agree; 5070ti or 9070xt. Past that look at a 5070 if you don’t want to mess around used in this current market with all the scams
But I would really look at 4070 supers
You can find a bunch for 600-700
I would just get a 5070 and be happy with it but thats just me
4070 supers for 600-700 is such a scam
Yea okay I think going up to 7 is bad but for 600 I don’t think it’s all to bad
I would look at 4070 supers if they are between 400-500
i have 3090 founders and can't bring myself to upgrade
i will probably grab the new amd processor actually before i upgrade my gpu
dude, we know 5070 is like msrp 550 right
600-700 is almost reaching 5070Ti/4080 level performance
Can’t find a single one under 650
I agree 700 was too much to put up for a 4070 super
But id rather get a used 4070 super, which actually I was wrong.. you can find a bunch for a hundred bucks less…550
I just don’t feel like it’s worth it given the 5070 is only 5-9% faster in gaming
1080p
also 5070s are all like $700
idk where ur getting MSRP
i was thinking of getting a 9060xt since it's like the best value I can get
A 5060 ti 16gb over here is like $580~
a 9060xt is like $439
i wanted to stay with Nvidia but man
I mean u can look at used 30 and 40 series cards as well
idek where I'd buy those legit
I mean with facebook u just don’t pay ahead and meet with the guy in person
Facebook arguably is the best, given you ask for a demo of it live.
It’s very anal to do and demand
But I wouldn’t buy without it
its anal to ask for proof for thing you are buying working?
I dont care how much they complain, i want working stuff.
I’m of a similar mindset, by anal I meant the logistics of it. I refuse to meet anywhere that isn’t public but also I want to be sure it works
that place lowkey sucks atf
why is everything more expensive than stores
Usually that means one person has to lug a bench around. Which I often just do
this is used shit 😭
You have to look I guess, I scored a nice 5060 as a pass through card for my plex server a while back.
ik wym MFS are shady, especially with the fact that gpus are so bipolar and are known to sometimes work temporarily, enough to be able to show it's working just for it to not work during actual gaming
and then ur out hundreds
People swap gpu dies out now and sell just the shell and PCB
It’s 100% worth checking regardless of complaints
But yea, I keep a small am4 test bench for this reason. I buy enough cards used it’s a decent investment
QNAP TS-462 looks really nice, and it has Celeron, so I could docker Jellyfin on it
Plus 4x8TB Ironwolf and we party
thomann must have some really odd XM8500 mics if they are 999mm long and have a 999mm diameter
Bought a second hand Echo Mini :3
I’m enjoying my new Elgato stuff
Sold my old Wave 3 and accessories to my brother. Nice way to recoup some money.
I may have accidentally propagate alias sudowoodo=sudo on half of our servers
i have to say... for 20 bucks the XM8500 is a damn good mic
i feel like the metal housing and electronics must already cost close to 20bucks
Why have you done this?

also need to go to the beach and borrow a couple tons of sand to melt into my own wafers
now thats dedication
yeah those EXE machines alone are like half the size of most houses lmao, also thats just the litho machine, you also need plasma/chemical etchers, ovens, annealers, ion dopers, etc, etc, etc.

How much is it? Cause the Alienware monitor I want costs $230 and has 320Hz
Also how much Hz?
Google it mate
Can anyone advise on how to clean the keyboard from Cola Zero? I’ll use Isopropyl alcohol. How do I use it effectively?
Isn't it not actually real gold?
Just bits in paint
not its actual gold
Oh
It's real gold, 5 kilos to be exact, given by the person that wanted it be made of gold that they commissioned Asus to make
Msrp is 999 usd so idk
given that the price for a 5070ti are about 1100 in the us these days, decent price given the market
Should I get Pebble 2 Time @unkempt lake
No
30 day warranty lol
🤣
Such a small window wtf
Wait for the next iteration
If its today, then I’d say its okay? Still on the losing end though.
I brought help please
I got a question a few days ago I found out that some mice do activate the click the moment they get Pressed and the contacts part instead of activating when the contact meet at the bottom. Now my question is can I achive that with modding or Software tweaking on any mouse?
I recognise that card anywhere.... Because it's in my system lol
It is most definitely not a 3060 XD
3060 gets dwarfed by anything
unironically the 3060 is VERY tiny
the GPUs have been getting bigger in the 20 series already but I feel like past the 3060 is when they just started getting massive
the actual circuit boards themselves have actually gotten smaller, the heatsinks have gotten ludicrously big though
Big power needs big cooling
Any idea how to do maintenance on GM EVSE?
Looks at 5090 FE
No excuses.
An ev charge point?
Yeah.
It refuses to charge my car.
Considering the size of the GPU die was getting smaller after AI started eating all the wafers (previously each tier had a pretty consistent size from what I've been told), GPU companies probably realised that clocking the absolute shit out of the smaller die was the only way to makeup for the lost performance from the reduced compute
huh
wtf are you on about that doesnt make any sense
essentially nothing is wafer limited
and die size also hasnt gotten smaller, nvidia top end sku is basicel retilcle limit and has been for ages
chat gpt agrees hes right quin im sorry

Last time wafer throughput was the bottleneck was like 2020/2021
ever since then it’s been more so packaging or now ram
But AI isn’t making anything wafer limited
True, 5090 FE cooler is tiny, but that's because Nvidia made the PCB itself super small
By reticle limit you mean the stochastic effects of EUV or just the speed of said reticle?
its not the gpu chip itself we're talking about but the actual circuit boards fam
ie. the 8g/32g of acceleration is not enough
Which btw 32g of acceleration while maintaining sub nanometer positional accuracy is insane
they die manufacturing process keeps getting smaller too ofc but we're also packing more stuff in
theres a limit how big the reticle of the die can be due to max mask size and wavlenght
So the field size due to the NA of the optics?
high na euv is halving that so instead of like 850mm^2 high na euv cuts that in half
Because obviously the reticle can only be as big as the optics that is magnifying it
yeah
Iirc on the NXE machines it's 4X isomorphic
But on EXE they moved to anamorphic 8X by 4X
Which actually makes the field size even smaller
Like basically half the size
and it's more rectangular shape than square shape
The aspect ratio
25x32 or so about
Yeah
so high na will put that to 25x16
only option to have larger dies is this or chiplet
Going anamorphic was really the only reason why they were able to make 0.55 NA possible
I'm going to try to fix it after dinner and if I can't I'll have to call GM or something.
Yeah, advanced packaging is what really matters
Even Apple is ditching monolithic die
For M5 pro and M5 max
they already did for m2 ultra
but yeah nvidia is likely doing dies stitching if needed
I guess
everyone else moved on
Yeah
I was talking about the x60 series, not the top end. However I was pulling from vague memories of user complaints, so I decided to lookup the juicy data
760: 294 mm²
960: 228 mm²
1060: 200 mm²
2060: 445 mm²
3060: 276 mm²
4060: 159 mm²
5060: 181 mm²
So it seems that around 250mm^2 is average (228mm^2 if we remove the 2060 as an outlier), but the 2060's die size was crazy large, probably to contain all those RT and tensor cores, having over double the surface area of the previous generation. The 3060 was larger then average, but the 4060 cut the die size down well below the average. The 5060 is still below average in size.
die size doesnt correlate to anything
theres too many variables
addin more cores while staying on the same node will mean you have a larger die and a node shrink will lower the size
20 series was on a node thats basically the same as 10th gen
theres also different ways to use a node, high density cell libraries will make the chip denser and thus smaller given all else is the same
starting with N3 things can be mixed even more
Yeah, but there was a feeling people were getting "ripped off" because they were pay for more and getting a smaller product
thats just not true
the only thing that HUB looked at was the amount of corse relative tot he biggest die perhaps
thats already questionable but looking at die size just shows the person in question doesnt understand how hardware works
Next time I'm doing this myself.
Just do not tell the home insurance
I can still pull permits and junk.
Any windows pc gurus able to help me with my pc? It keeps crashing
It started earlier today randomly when I got home from work once, I restarted ran updates for windows and gpu and then played video games normally for a couple of hours then started lounging watching videos and it happened again and again and again in a loop I got into bios but I’m in a bit of a loss
I wanna try the easy ones like sfc /scannow but now it just keeps crashing a little after boot if not right on the boot
Errors I have gotten are

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

It’s between that or pulsar
Wall hack sp-004 for sure
sp-005 released ?
why are you still recommending the sp-004
Yeah if it’s wallhack then imma just wait for the anime ones
Can’t recommend something I haven’t tried myself
fair enough

GLSSWRKS has better QC
what’s the best rtx for Ryzen 9 9950X3D?
yea
And what are you playing and hope to get out of it.
9950X3D only if you game and work on your PC
If you only game then 9850X3D is way better
And if you only work and never game then a 285k
I heard 5080 have Ai?
A 5080 is still reasonable, a 5090 is like $4000 or something
All RTX since 20 series have DLSS and AI-based stuff
For Radeons that's 7xxx and 9xxx

All the frame gen is AI
Or if u Markiplier just get a RTX Pro 6000
I see
Lmaoooo😭
https://www.proshop.de/Grafikkarte/NVIDIA-RTX-PRO-6000-Blackwell-Bulk-96GB-GDDR7-RAM-Grafikkarte/3358883 yup that’s the best

Unless you're literally making a movie
Well you asked for the best
true true
9850X3D, 5080/5090, B850-based motherboard and 48GB of RAM
It will run everything you throw at it
I see
it better, because thats top of the line
If you're buying a 5090 then you can probably spare the extra for x870e tbh
Gotta save where you can to put money where it matters
So instead of X870 motherboard you get B850, but get better GPU and so on
why would you need a more expensive mobo?
But X870e is useless
its not that much better
Overclocking really is all
my snes emulator works fine on my 9800 GT
I see
In big 26? Enable PBO and carry on
overclocking is mostly dead with PBO etc
Mainly ram, you could probably push 8000+mts
And GPUs get more performance from undervolting
About RAM overclocking... you spend like a week to tinker with it just to increase your FPS by 0.5%
Yea higher end boards are for overclocking but only for benchmarks you don’t gain anything from faster ram on x3d in games
If u wanna go to take n.1 on 3dmark leaderboards sure get a x870
so I have HYTE Y70 and I don’t know where the fans go? just wanna make sure to buy right one
Wouldn't get x870, x870e tho is more worth

Top bottom side and back
You can skip the bottom ones to be honest
Oh, fair
i miss the day where we had 2 fans extra in our cases
Red means reverse fans
oh wait, still do
Blue is air goes in, red is air goes out
what are good fans in your opinion?
Depends how much you wanna spend

just keep the arrows pointed as in the pic
hmm most of fans usually cost $100
Creme de la creme is Noctua, but there's a ton of good cheaper alternatives, like Arctic
a pop
my t30s werent 100
I was looking at D30 fans I doubt it fit lol
I have Arctic P12s in mine, amazing price to performance ratio
Especially since my PC runs hot
Hmmm arctic are good ngl
I can probably upgrade it in future
Ion need anything fancy
Arctic p12s are good. But if you wanna spend a bit more nzxt f360x look kinda clean ngl
I upgrade the fans in future
AMD pls gib new GPU, I can only play 4k120 and not 4k240 anymore
Sir u need a 5090
wish granted, rdna5 comes tomorrow but only beats the 9070 in RT
Be quit fans dubs?
Can it beat 9070 in everything but RT instead?
rdna “try to fight for” 5% “marketshare”
the 5% marketshare number isnt accurate
Cheapest 5090 in Australia is $5800
Aussie kangaroos or freedom eagles?
AUD
So cheaper
Aussie Freedom Kangoroos
Buckaroonies
you want something closer to the top
My cheap-ass fans are top 6?
aussies only have 10% vat
There's no vat, unless its called something else
gst
That's part of the price
yes
So is in all civilized countries
Isn't vat an addition to the price that's advertised?
Nope, VAT is included
the us has taxes not listed because its different in each state
At least in EU
so it depends where you buy it to and from and thus you cant have one price for all
Typical US
but the base is the same, vendor sells it for x + y% regardless of it being called vat, gst or something else
just in some countries its listed as x for the price in others its listed as z and might show price without tax beneath it
Imagine something costs $200, so that's how much you pay for it and there are no other charges. The US simply could not comprehend this
except shipping
yeah its basically like shipping
or if I’m buying from a different country in the eu and my vat is different
it would be better sure but you cant list it with sales tax just like shipping is different depending on where you are
Most PC part vendors here include free shipping if the thing you're buying is above a certain price
but not every generic item
either way you end up with something you cant use to universally show the final price
Amazon charges shipping but it's just cheaper to get prime lol
Dynamic pricing of shipping when?
most of my amazon orders get free shipping without prime, but I’ve had so many free trials of prime too, I’ve never paid for prime

can I put a key that is not im my keyboard layout in the second fn layer?
Not without some kind of ALT macro.
Your keyboard doesn't have a language - Your OS does.
I can't like paste in a simbol?
Your keyboard isn't sending symbols. It's sending "key45" and your OS turns that into something, based on what keyboard language you have selected.
alr
that said you can create a dks bind that potentially does the thing you want
for example you could create a dks bind that sends alt 156 or sth
which would output £

a nice use of recycled iphone 16 pro
Too bad he isnt around to
I mean, that's what they should to with iPad - give it macOS
M chip iPads are beasts, but are crippled so much by iPadOS
Battery expensive.
And power draw is low.
I'd consider it, if they made a 16gb model.
maybe when iphone pro got a 16gb ram
Probably would have been 16 gigs were it not for AI
8G is not enough for a computer, no matter if it's Mac
Hey maybe this'll make developers think about optimizing.. right?.... right?
You can do whatever you want with OS
But apps and especially web don't care about your ram usage
https://wccftech.com/chinas-most-powerful-gaming-gpu-yet-the-lisuan-g100-is-set-to-launch-this-week/
I see this being very very popular with college students
Oh boy wonder how good driver support for that thing is
Honestly 12-16gb of ram would be better
What's a driver
I am a car driver
MacBook Neo will likely be popular in some market segments which currently buy Chromebooks.
yeah education is most certaintly the point of interest
plus macbook neos would most certaintly be better than a chromebook
so a very low bar
yep
Hopefully it being an apple dumbass children wont be sticking things in them and breaking it
like these kids are not doing very nice things to the devices
MacBook Neo seems much better built than any other laptop in the same price point.
Simply due to it not being plastic
you'll get further with it on mac os than windows for sure, but it's still going to cripple it and shorten its longevity considerably
Nah, the only fair comparison is Linux vs macOS
Windows needs 4G just to sit
still, for people that only do the basic browsing, youtoobing, musicing and chatting it'll probably be enough
Given current state of web... it may not
Shame they couldn't at least squeeze in 12gb just like 8gb vs 12gb on gpus
Idk what ur gonna do on a macbook neo what 8gb wont be enough for ngl
it'll be a nice premium chromebook
but it might not be able to do 4k 120fps edit /s
it will, just takes 3 business days for 2 seconds tho
8gb in the neo are fine it’s just going to cause a lot more wear on the ssd due to heavy swap usage which is fine but kills the ssd sooner so a few gb more would make it last much longer
Hmm dont think ive ever seen a ssd die in a macbook
yea you forgot that apple has magic and despite using the same chips as everyone else they just make it last longer and run better
having a heavily controlled and purpose built ecosystem does have its perks when it comes to making the most of the resources available
Ecosystem doesn’t change anything about longevity of flash and that heavy swap usage is going to wear that down a lot
While updating the Wooting firmware, the connection suddenly dropped and an error occurred. Please help.
are we going in
aintnoway
oh interesting
new oleds
Someone hasn't used macos and it shows
Literally fine for videos and text editing
no try doing daily tasks without enabling swap
now watch, 1 month after this rollout:
THIS JUST IN: "premium subscriptions up 1000%!" according to youtube
i would love to be able to self host all my videos but the algorithm and reach is important
Web frameworks don't care if you run macOS or anything else
Man, I was teaching my elder neighbor a bunch of shit on YouTube and I couldn't get over how horrible YouTube is without revanced.
The amount of ads and how much space they take up is horrendous, genuinely he was so confused why the first result from search was a huge banner."that's not what I searched"
What is revanced?
I’m honestly about to stop using YouTube with ads and go to a adblocker
i recommend you trying brave browser
been using it for the past 3 years
no ads
apple makes disabling that surprisingly hard
Modified YouTube app
because you need to disable the SIP before changing anything about the memory
Blocks ads and has sponsor block
To be clear it's not a third party app, it repackages the YouTube app with patches.
yup but to see if 8gb would be enough you need to compare it under same circumstances
windows has swap too no?
usually enabled by default?
i'd say if both have swap enabled its a fair comparison
ok? so thats a windows swap problem not a mac problem?
i'd say its fair if both the mac system and windows system have swap enabled
the point is you have downsides from 8gb so just because swap moves that to killing your ssd faster instead of running out of ram, you cant say 8gb is enough
that's fair, but its a 499 laptop
in the big 26
its still going to cost you in form of replacing your ssd down the line so it just moves cost
I wouldnt nitpick it too hard, it could have been worse
which you cant
yeah
they could have used an A18 non pro and had 6gb of ram instead of 8
so I'm willing to bet these are going to die a lot more than other macs
considering that 8gb M1 macbook airs are still kicking around i'd say its going to be a long time before that happens
M1 MBA is like what, almost 6 years old at this point?
and most people that bought them are still using them
i'd say non-issue given that they lasted this long
especially since the Neo has the benefit of using newer flash memory technology than M1 MBA
maybe, but with websites going up and up in ram usage or desktop aps, I see it as a bigger issue these days
thats fair
10gb so it would be 8for cpu 2 for gpu would probably have been ideal
those websites will still work on iphones with the same chip and ram just fine, they'll also work on that mac
you're not reading what I'm saying
yeah, but they cant really do that because of A18 pro packaging limitations
You have to think about the device's purpose
I'm not saying it doesnt work
I'm saying it works and will keep working
maybe next refresh they will add A19 pro which as 12gb of RAM
is it gonna game? No
I'm saying mac swaps aggressively out of ram and over time thats killing ssds so if you run into that constantly you put massive wear on the ssd (which you cant replace)
thats my best guess for next refresh at least
got nothing to do with gaming or websites not working
it's a cheap enough device that it doesn't matter
great so it doesnt matter its ewaste down the line instead of being usable for much longer?
Also it should still last a reasonable lifespan
macbook neo given its price will likely last way longer than many new budget windows laptops at its price.
An ipad + keyboard also ends up being ewaste down the line
Yes, different OS but damn
Macbook Neo (from what i've gathered from early reviews) is built like a tank unlike most laptops at its price which have poorly designed hinges and plastic chassis.
ive seen so many cheap windows laptops that barely last 2-3 years at my uni mainly due to hinge failures
or people ripping out charging plugs
Or people cracking the chassis in various ways
a lot of these thin plastic chassis crack if you breathe on them wrong
Literally
I dont even understand the logic of this so, sure
yeah, for the price at 499 I think Apple made cuts in the right places. and added value in places where it actually matters like mechanical durability and the screen.
I'm telling you it would have caused the same amount of ewaste, people would have bought an ipad + a keyboard before, now they'll just buy a mac neo
An ipad ends up being ewaste down the line as its all soldered
Same happens with the neo
The neo is literally just an ipad running mac os in a mac chassis
for the price the neo is about the least ewastey device apple could have made
other product bad so its fine this product is bad, great argument okay
if ewaste is the argument then you should complain about every other tablet and mobile device on the market
I agree
Literally it competes with chromebooks
cba dealing with whatbouttism today
Devices which are useless after 3 years
it does not compete with chromebooks at all
eh, not really, its more competing with budget windows laptops.
It's cheap enough that i think people will be willing to spend jsut a bit more to grab one
I think its an easy upsell
people dont buy chromebooks because of that though do they? i was under the impression that people only buy then for children
Also for fleets like schools
but then again ive never seen or used a single chromebook
and for the average non-STEM college student, the Neo is enough to run Canvas and run MS word/google docs.
Can you download this on iPhone?
No not really
butr chromebooks are half the price of a neo...
Yes
Nope
But i can see someone looking for a computer being like i'll spend a bit more
yes its doable
You need jailbreak for any tweaks or a third party app
It is?
dude behaving as if sideloading is hard on ios
You can sideload in the eu super easy
But you can't sideload revanced
i sometimes use an alternative flutter coded discord client(electron is heavy), shame it does not have most features
from what i've heard from most schools who run Apple devices, Apple has a better buyback program which saves them a few bucks per year once all costs have been worked out compared to using chromebooks provided by a different contractor.
yes you can
What
I’m American 🦅
Do I need to break my phone or it’s warranty?
But revanced doesn't really work just sideloading
No
also saves them a lot of money in maintanance fees, since apple charges really really low prices for replacements for school districts.
it works when you sideload it...
for schools taht use ipads now i guess yeah it does make sense.
for schools that buy a fleet of chromebooks for 200 dollars a pop theres no shot they'll be upgrading to neos
But you have to run the manager, have it recompile and sideload unsigned every week, sounds like hell.
schools usually operate on 5 year plans, so costs are worked out way far ahead in advance, at least for the schools in my area.
it does it automatically over wifi...
Does revanced remove shorts?
Yes it can
So it's not revanced then? 😅
shut up dude
What is it out of curiosity
It removes ads it literally does everything revanced does
Does it replace the actual YouTube app?
Or a third party app?
That was my main point originally, you'd need a separate app on iOS Vs patching the official app no?
That's why I like revanced
Same
No sperate app, you patch the official.
You can run sponsor block on it etc
I use smarttube for my TV though
Yeah same lmao
why does my wooting disconnect after i move the cable only a little bit and it just disconnects... then re connects. how can i fix it?
on a side note; i was super sceptical of getting an Ipad for school and honestly I love this thing so much. Ipad with a magic keyboard is honestly pretty great.
What does the app do what u cant do in browser
Why would I use the browser? It's an inferior experience on mobile and tablet
You mean uYouPlus
Can I use this in my pc
WhT
okay over this break I’m investigating on how to ditch YouTube ads and how to use YouTube music without advertisements
If your on android use revanced
Ive been using it for years
For both yt app and yt music
don’t even have to scroll to see
Didn't show on my phone 🤷
However gg ios poop
That's literally what started this convo lol
hm yes signalrgb... so they arent just causing us pain when people come here cause signalrgb is bad
Idk how anyone can use signalrgb and not see its bloatware
I see that now
I know it's bloatware I just don't care
It works without any effort
Same for openrgb no?
Idk if I agree with that
I downloaded 1 effect, changed the color, and that was it
🤷
Last i used it kept spamming me premium shit and it felt like 10 menus to change any function.
It took me 5m to setup and find an effect
And I haven't had to touch it in like 2 years
Typo
im a firm hater of RGB
But I cant be bothered to open the gskill bloat every fuckin time to get rid of the rainbow vomit on the ram
likewise
i go out of my way to buy non RGB components
even if at a premium
its rather unfortunate that only gskill had the bins I want here
G.SKILL has non RGB Trident Z sticks
but either way, not like it matters rn because of the rampocalypse...
cant find
both my gskill kits are h16a c26 and h24m 8kc40 for their expo/xmp profiles
i gave my old 2x32GB sticks to my dad, they are non RGB
rampocalypse happened so i gave him 64GB as I already have a 2x48GB DDR5-6000 30-36-36-76 kit
his jaw dropped knowing i got my kit for 494.99 CAD lol
Just remove the heatsinks lol
What are you looking for?
So don't. Have it running quietly on login and auto disable the RGB.
I just slapped a ram fan and called it a day tbh

Not so ayayaya
Who could have seen this coming
An actual clarification from a company in big 26, how refreshing
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/03/apple-macbook-neo-review-can-a-mac-get-by-with-an-iphones-processor-inside/ oh look they also already notice the 8gb being pressured
Nah, you just haven't used macOS and it shows
I mean all they say is that some things take a few seconds longer to open or that some tabs have to be refreshed
yes?
I didnt mention cyberpunk not runnign since thats not relevant for this but it would be an example and my entire point about this was its already heavily relying on swap usage which will only get worse over the coming years
especially when 16gb m1 airs can be had for the same or cheaper these days.
With A19 Pro with 12G of RAM and for $749 I think it would be an amazing machine
Where you getting an m1 air for $499
Don't think anybody in this discord is the target market for this laptop
for a laptop to just watch youtube and do some writing, this is perfect imo
Laptop for just watching youtube and do some writing you can get for way cheaper
Not sure if tablet wouldn't be a better option then
Meh 8gb is really tight though in general. One thing I will say though it makes for a great machine if you need to test safari compatibility on web though.
the laptop one core performance is better than the cheese grater mac pro
which is hilarious
Dutchlings - What online stores do you use for buying laptops? I need to compare prices to ANSI, to see if getting ISO DA is just too expensive for the niceties. (I use touch typing anyway in practice)
I tried android tablet and I don't like it. Haven't tried Chromebook but my experience with laptop around neo price isn't stellar, just enough for me that time (albeit this is 2020 $600 laptop).
Compare the prices on tweakers pricewatch.
Actually ordered my last laptop directly from lenovo though.
Ah cheers. I doubt Lenovo will have the best prices directly in my price segment. Very casual user 😄
My brother has some Xiaomi tablet with keyboard case, he uses it for everything on uni
It was about 400€ or so with everything
samsung's tablet pen is quite bad, its a very soft tip which breaks 100% after one drop
and might even wear down with use
i hope they make an apple pen tip soon
I get most of my electronics from Megekko
Drawing tablet pen tips are peak
I just got a titanium tip for my Boox, it is soooo smooth
Hmm fair enough I had work money to spend so wanted something a little future proof for my needs.
Actually lot of laptops do not come with ansi here they just have a us int iso layout

im considering getting one of them soon yea
Just don't want to end up with German or something like that. Danish or ANSI/ISO UK 😄
im already on my second pen replacement and its kinda on its last legs
Got you, oh and price wise lenovo site may not be too bad, depending on sales and the model especially if you don't get a windows license.
if you need it for school you want a proper keyboard
in terms of other laptops at this price this one seems like it's on another planet for quality
yeah hope there will be some decent comparisons, it seems like an okay product otherwise, but nothing we dont already have given we have 600usd lunar lake laptops with 16gb that should perform similar or better
I buy my electronics on bol .com BUT only because I get 30% off on their vouchers through my dads job
https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-announces-299-core-ultra-7-270k-and-199-core-ultra-5-250k-cpus in other news that 270k price makes all of zen5 basically a bad value lol
Man bol .com used to be such a good website until dropshippers ruined it
damn
they are not even bad CPUs
8 cores for $300
it's the other things that are going to make it sell people in this price category aren't too worried about performance
oh yeah absolutely
gaming wise there might be a case of due to higher ram prices and ARL needing higher speeds more than zen5 that you get a not better gaming deal for the money
but uh need some more data, most likely anything but a 9800x3d is now just a bad deal lol
hey at that price you can't really complain
I mean 9700x is the same price these days
so if you are just gaming it is important
ig so?
and for other workloads you are missing avx512
but have 16 extra cores so thats likely a much bigger advantage lmao
Not like you are gonna use AVX512 in anything but like 3 emulators for home use
PS3 Emu players seething
By the way 9600x is 10€ cheaper than 9700x here
well for non gaming there are more applications
cant windows just copy the way apple handles hdr
Sure, pretty sure it's quite efficient in video transcode by now too
HDR works well, just Auto HDR... not so much...
nah normal hdr weird too
biggest issues is just a couple programs really throwing a fit and screenshots/screen recordings being blown out
latter thing supposedly is fixable but I couldn't get it to work nicely
how can i make non hdr stuff look the same as in sdr
gl
well there is a tonemapping fix for that but it breaks actual hdr so pick your poision
this is a decent overview
the latter is fixed by not having stuff open that messes up the HDR like steam
as in the window is minimized/in tray
what
yes
didn't even know that
i get clean screenshots with hdr on by just minimizing steam
although i also had to force hdr colorspace in firefox
and only god and microsofts ai know why its so wack
Ugh... new AI branded CPUs. Are these just enshittified versions of existing ones? 😄
y so many variables
its the exact same as before just new tiers inbetween
That wasn't my question to be fair. Are they just existing CPUs with cores removed and whatnot, with GPU cores replacing them
huh
which ones are you talking about lol
AMDs "AI" line of CPUs is mostly new ones
well "new" now, was new on release
So actual, new generation. Not just rebranded existing ones with worse core performance. Thanks.
no there is no new generation of anyone
I'm getting mixed messages here
I assumed you meant the ones I linked but they dont have ai in the name so which ones are you talking about
yea but strix point/halo was new back then and introduced the nomenclature, not sure if that is what mansen meant
No links. Just a raw question from me browsing laptops.
which is why I asked which he meant
yeah need to know which ones you mean
On one hand I see laptops using "old" CPUs like a 7735HS whatnot. And then ones that are three digit AI branded ones.
so amds mobile lineup
Yes - Laptops. I've been talking laptops all morning tbf 😄
yea those are partially just rebrands for the chinese market (2XX ones specifically) and then actually new CPUs (3XX ones)
well new back when they released
idk I just saw you talking about cpus 😛 and the ai branding is over a year old so wasnt sure what you mean
the strix point ones are probably among the best mobile CPUs out rn?
To be fair I haven't shopped for CPUs since the 7000 series came out. And laptops years before that. Long before any of this AI shit started infecting PCs 😄
strix halo is kinda inefficient iirc
Ryzen AI is basically Zen 5, but with their NPU and newer RDNA in integrated GPU
zen 5 basically always has an npu
saturation is kinda weird too
ai 4xx is the latest refresh that should have some models out by now
wa?
ai 3xx is zen5 mobile so the latest gen they are mostly the same
ai max+ is strix halo those are the massive iGPU parts
intel is on core ultra 2xx/3xx series
ic ic. So a... AI 5 340 is a Ryzen 5 mobile CPU with AI shit on top? It would be slightly faster than ... I guess what... a 7th gen i5 mobile equivalent?
actually, Ryzen 9000 "Fire Range" is the big exception, so 9850HX, 9955HX and 9955HX3D
there is no new AI shit on top
it is just a regular AMD cpu with AI branding, NPUs are basically standard in all modern CPUs
im highly thinking of bundling a 265kb860i +32gb ddr5 to a friend for exactly what I paid
And no, it is original pricing ddr5 before the boom
So not worse, not better (ignoring AI uses) So price is more important if I were to match two laptops with that difference. Alright. One step closer I guess 😄
oh no it would be quite a lot faster, 7th gen is old this is the latest gen lol
Ah right. 9th gen on desktop already
idk why you assume that them having "AI" in the name makes them slower?
Because that's usually what happens, when you need to add something more to a footprint.
Gotta take something out to make room for more.
now you're mixing things up, amds desktop stuff is 9xxx but they dont call it i5 its r5, I though you meant intel 7th gen which is like over a decade ago
Loud groaning
I mean i5 for intel r5 for ryzen is quite clear xD
ok, ALL modern CPUS have NPUs integrated, that goes for basically all consumer desktop and laptop CPUs, yet they are still (usually) faster than previous gen stuff, much more importantly they made it in a smaller node so it just is more efficient (and therefore faster) than last gen
Alright alright - Concrete example. Similar price.
AI 5 340 vs 7735HS
340 wins, cause newer generation. What would the latest mobile generation be before they changed to AI then 😛
So Zen 6 will be 10xxx and AI 500 then
well the naming was ass so the 7000 only means when it released
7x3x means thats zen3, 7x4x would be zen4, ai 3xx is zen5
this held true until the AI renaming which, which honestly made the names a bit clearer again
8x4x is also zen4 it was just released a year later so they increased the leading number
yeah
note that the 7000 only denotes release year, the important number is the 600 and the 40
meanwhile on intel you would want core ultra 2xxV, the ending V is denoting lunar lake or core ultra 3xx which is panther lake that just came out
so an AI 340 would have been an 9440U
So something like this Omnibook would be a decent purchase (ignoring HP, ignoring build quality - Just the innards for now)
649€ for a AI5 340 / 16GB RAM
Op werkdagen voor 23.30 besteld, morgen in huis | Gratis verzending vanaf €50,- | 14 dagen bedenktijd

yeah
So far so good. Now I have a baseline I can use to compare sales and outlet return prices with here at least 😄
ai5 340 or core ultra 5 226v are probably the two options you want to look at for cpus
Yeah Danish prices are definitely fucked. Same laptop is more like... 870€ here.
226v has a bit better low power efficency and idle, 340 has bit better performance so honestly any OEM can make them lose or win based on bios and thermal skill issue lol
oh wow, thats kind of crazy
ayyy ammmm deee
If you were able to melt 8-pin of all connectors...
mmm crispy
I make sure it doesnt happen haha
How good is this thermal paste?
Something a bit better than MX-4, really decent
ngl, as long as its half decent it wont make that much of a difference with top end paste
As long as it's not literal dog shit you should be fine
yeah any paste coming with your cooler si fine for stock usage
pretty sure I used the paste that came with my phantom spirit, temps check out with the advertised figures
So if i use mx-6 its good
I would also be fine with mx4
Just spread it clean
I got the mx-6 with the AIO
Doesn't make a big difference at all, the cooler makes the difference
Decent, but mmmm, duronaut
I think that goes for any paste tbh
Damn is duronaut new?
Spread an even thin layer
Relatively speaking yeah
Yea of course lol
I have some rest of kryonaut
Supposedly according to them it's very stable and it can last way longer without needing to re-paste
Got it pretty cheap
Also better performance than kryonaut from 3rd party testing
Well tbf.. I got Kryonaut like 6ish years ago
Yeah, but I'm really liking duronaut because i found it to be pretty good for direct-die too like for laptops
Hmm
I can just say Kryonaut is doing fine for me, I only "reaplied" it once since I got it and that was cause I swapped out my mobo CPU and RAM
When ddr5 32 gig still was around 100€
Real
I am really happy with the upgrade, icl. I like AMD more than intel
Also the 7800X3D is pretty neat
that's what I've heard, the expensive stuff supposedly lasts a bit longer
but performance-wise the difference is small
Yeah
Tbh it's not that hard to reapply thermal paste. At least for the average nerd who knows how to build PCs
nah, I think its more if you don't plan on swapping anything out for like half a decade or longer, longer lasting paste could make sense in that regard
Hmm I've never had any issues with the thermal paste not lasting long enough
or maybe if you really push your rig on the regular and constantly heatcycle
some pastes will dry out over time but as long as it stays in place it sorta does its job still
and da pc is up and running
Yippi
hugeeeeeeeee
tho i have to create a better Fan curve
what did u get for pc parts?
"broken" the pump is acting weird
what did you end up getting
liquid cooling never made much sense to me unless you run the extreme high end of powerhungry components/do a lot of OC or live somewhere hot af without AC
these
good choice
even the best/largest AIOs aren't that much better than the best air/tower options either for most part
bit confused why TR is selling peerless assassin and phantom spirit alongside each other when phantom is just a slightly upgraded peerless assassin
they basically cost the same too
for me it was always about optics and with certain ram kits you run into issues with some aircoolers
https://www.phoronix.com/news/AMD-Ryzen-AI-NPUs-Linux-LLMs first usecase of an NPU besides teams blur lol @halcyon moss if you want to try it
that's a fair point, can't have too tall heatsinks on the ram modules
Hah, nice.
Npu is very slow compared to a GPU, but we'll see
but if you need rams with extra large heatsinks it sorta plays into the high-end build philosophy where liquid cooling is preferred or needed
Great, CPU shortage when?
never
doesnt change the ram you need and npu even at higher efficency isnt replacing gpus
so end of 27 probably launch of new consoles likely as expected
ah yes another xbox based PC
i mean all consoles now are pc based
looks at original xbox

first time a console is basically the same hardware on gpu side at least and not semicustom
Lmao, I’ve never felt more happy about snatching up a 5070ti from b&h when they were still msrp. I was on Reddit and saw that 899 is considered a good deal on the cards?
850 is the best deal I’ve found outside microcenter, that’s actually painful
899 cows?
