still havent a clue WTF Ubuntu Gnome is
A what to login?
literally read the next message
ok
What is Ubuntu gnome
idfk
its where you use the ubuntu os, and install gnome on it not the ubuntu customized version
You mean the server version
linuxloops gives you the option
1234
you select the distro, then you select the de
ok...but the ISO you download from Ubuntus website is also GNOME
Just got pre-enabled extensions
Shown this on the Ubuntu site
if you select none for the de, it gives you the same thing as the iso, so nothing for arch and gnome for ubuntu
its not on the ubuntu website
ok I need to see wtf LinuxLoops is like to insstall
I can't upgrade Ubuntu
literally 2 messages later he says.. so he already did specify
As I'm using LTS
yeh I saw
theres a command supposedly, but when i tried it it didnt work
i had to fresh install
I know it takes like 30 seconds to launch firefox on Ubuntu cause of it being a Snap package
yea not talking about that
Linux
No
OK.. So don't upgrade gnome :p
Damn, the new Ubuntu installer looks so nice
So does the new Fedora installer too, its a website in the background LOL
you install Fedora, it opens the installer in a firefox tab
OK so you used a weird tool that installs weird stuff. Got it
yeh xd
linuxloops is the only generic linux installer that i know, if you know a better one, go for it
definetly a strange way to install a distro
what you mean generic in this case? you want the desktop the distro comes with but no customisation done by the distro itself?
no i want a usb that allows me to install whatever distro
Ventoy?
does ventoy support secure boot now?
not sure
looks like yes, but it also doesnt support surface kernel installing
linux
this is what I mean by its literally a firefox tab XD
Why are you installing anaconda
😒
Anaconda is the name of the Fedora installer
like how the Ubuntu installer is Ubiquity
Lol. It's also a Sci python distribution
whats this?
Parallel circuit
I just then break down every little thing about it ( hopefully correct 🙏 )
ah...I know nothing about this xd not an electrical designer
Same here, I'm just using formulas 😭
ah!
a lot of that stuff does need maths
I want Yaru theme on my bluefin install... idk how they managed to theme LibAdwaita apps... I must know
ages for Linux to be more user friendly
Use Bluefin, the most user friendly distro I have ever seen
it literally is maintenance free, just reboot / shutdown your PC and it runs any pending updates for you, and reverts to the previous build if an update fails then waits 90 days to try again
:D my little distro collection LOL
Sounds an awful lot like windows updates :p
yeh but these wont delete your Downloads folder :P
There's never a guarantee of that
I trust Bluefin updates cause of that rollback ability
that never happened to me lol
same but I tend to clean install Windows when a new major update comes out

XD
probably got that update showing up on my desktop
havent booted to Windows in like a week or so
what os do you use to run those vms
also hows bluefin like ive never heard of it before but it sounds cool
That app I used for VMs is called Boxes, its a GNOME desktop application
ah
I think they made it to make it easier to develop Gnome OS but made it public cause it worked well
they do mention automatic Windows installs tho.....idk how you do that yet
cause last time I used Boxes to try making a Windows VM, it wouldnt boot because of Secure Boot and TPM issues
time to screw up performance
its the same windows we talk about ?
I think I have 24h2 on my desktop
And it has horrific screen tearing ;_;
Got to enable system wide vsync to fix it and that makes input lag
technically yes in that 24h2 is also getting the new features, but there are a bunch of features
how the heck did you manage that
Screen tearing?
yes
It's just a thing that happens to me on Windows anytime I try to play a game on it
Some of you have the most bizarre tech issues with Windows 11.
oh a game
do you have high fps in the game?
I usually lock the game to my refresh rate if it's not an online fps
Or slightly over the refresh rate
and did you turn off fullscreen optimizations?
What's that?
nvm then, you probably would know
use a better fps lock
You don’t even need to disable full screen optimisations.
Usually the game is in borderless windowed mode
disable fullscreen optimizations and bad fps locks are 2 easy ways to get a bunch of tearing
having vrr is an assumption that i wouldnt make...
It’s 2025

still not a good assumtion, if people have vrr its usually awful
I do have VRR but only on one monitor which I dont have during the weekdays
only on Weekends I Have that monitor
I havent booted into Windows on my VRR monitor yet, but I will try next weekend
Huh
i go between 2 places, weekdays for work then back to the other place for weekends
I don’t use VRR cause of VRR Flicker on OLEDs
I need to swap the monitors, bring the VRR one to where I stay for work
oh ;-; really? that sucks cause I was really wanting to get an OLED monitor
144hz makes it less needed anyway as there are more slots to display frames
my monitor is 165Hz with VRR support from 60-165Hz
i dont use vrr because my lcd flickers 🙁
Oh really it flickers on lcd for you? Hmm
wut.... VRR works silky smooth for me when im in games, at least it does on my Bluefin install...like I said, havent tried it on Windows yet
its a samsung issue
ooohh....
my asus before had zero issues
got it
I do cause im a strong deer that can handle it all
yea it gives me quite strong headaches real quick
I dont notice any tearing personally
all OLEDs are only Samsung like Carmonben's issue?
so VVR causes flicker on LCD Samsung monitors but every brand of OLED monitor?
no
vrr flicker happens on oled if its not mitigated, which some companies have tried
vrr flicker on lcd happens when you have bad firmware, which is more common on samsung but not guaranteed
aha...
I really want an OLED monitor, the Deck screen is gorgeous and I want that on my desktop too
$$$ or in your case €€€
oleds can be found at like 500 these days
VRR Flicker occurs when a variable refresh rate (VRR) monitor's refresh rate fluctuates rapidly, often in dark or near-black areas, causing noticeable changes in brightness.
I have a samsung mini led and j have no vrr flicker xd
doesnt vrr cap refresh rate to 120 on some oleds?
It works within a range so yes
Yeh, my VRR supports 60-165Hz
yea not really
165Hz is te max the monitor can do though
vrr flicker depends on the type of monitor, oled vrr flicker is from big swings in fps, but lcd flicker is random
Yeah that’s not the only cause but one I experienced
I also finally have a desktop powerful enough to make use of 165Hz in most games I play
😍 feels good
Yeah I was referring to OLED, sorry
LCD is different
oled flicker also is caused by running at a fps that is not evenly divisible into the panel native refresh
damn, the cheapest OLED Monitor I can find is 560 euro
yea oled is spensiv
ive been gayming without vrr or fps cap and dont notice tearing on any game

We not talking about tearing
Unless you mean the full screen optimization mentioned above
Don’t bother me really, not super intense on my panel
Yeah im a bit lost on what the subject is
VRR flicker
I have HDR on my monitor too but I Havent tried it out yet in games
On oleds and lcds
Is it good hdr?
no idea
never used hdr except once on my tv and the contrast just hurt my eyes so i dont bother
hdr doesnt seem to be very good on desktop either way
Im confused on how desktop oleds have so many problems that tvs dont seem to have
Tbh for good HDR you need like $800+ monitor , prices could be better nowadays though , been a minute since I checked
different manufacturing tech
Id rather have OLED and VRR than HDR
That being said HDR is really nice on my phone when I have HDR stuff on screen
Some games have poor hdr implementation as well so it’s not always a benefit
Basically all the photos I take are in HDR and you can notice the difference when viewing them on my phone screen vs other photos that arent HDR
Why use vrr if theres no tearing visible
it makes the input feel smoother IMO
smooths the frame time
IDK if it actually makes the frametime graph flatter, but it feels similar to that
strange, ive heard gsync and such add latency
It doesn’t actually smooth out frame time but makes inconsistencies less noticeable

We've done a lot of testing on DLSS4 and FSR 4 (and 3.1) to inspect image quality frame-by-fake-frame in addition to upscaling image quality. At times, these technologies serve their purposes well; DLSS in particular has gotten a lot better with its transformer model and ...
small oleds are expensive but reliable, big oleds are cheap and inconsistent (but you dont notice it because pixels are so huge)
mid size oleds are expensive and unreliable
yeah, similar feel
Yeah
VRR flicker on OLEDs is likely why the Steam Deck OLED doesn't have a VRR display.
Probably explains why the Switch 2 isn't OLED either (also so they can sell another model in the future)
gsync doesnt help if your fps is higher than your refresh
but if its lower, your latency is lower
hmm
nah, true vrr on oled is just expensive
The iPad Pro has a nice tandem OLED but isn't VRR, it can just switch between many fixed refresh rates seamlessly.
oled monitors dont have true vrr they just emulate it by driving the panel hard
my 2020 laptop has vrr
0-60hz only sadly
I see so many go off about how they cannot live without a monitor light bar....wtf is the purpose for one of those?
and bc intel, its not supported in games bc screw you
yeh I dont see a need for them
Reduced eye strain but I don’t care for them
dont they add glare to the screen??
If angled wrong yeah
how does that work
a light shining right at the display doesnt seem like a good idea for color accuracy and glare
Doesnt shine at the display, at an angle away from it lol
helps to reduce the contrast between the bright screen and the dark surroundings, which can cause eye strain if you’re playing/working in the dark
the screen brightness doesnt matter for that eye strain, its about the difference between screen and room
^
so a led bar or leds behind it make it a less drastic difference and that helps eyes adjust
Yeah
ah, my monitor is infront of a window so its dark at night but I Have my room light on so the room is still bright
so would having peripheral view lighting do the same thing?
ahh gotcha
also im so disappointed in that title, 7$ performance boost? no its the 7$ eye cancer boost
That made me laugh
Paying for fg
Why are most OLED monitors 240Hz?!
Some are 360, and only a few are 165
wouldnt say most are, they just have a range like most and most dont start at 60hz when its only for gaming
Mine is 175 but it’s an Ultrawide
nobodys going to get a 60hz oled office screen
Yeah lol
XD true
I like my 165Hz
and if the game doesnt run that fast, but still above 60, VRR makes it feel smooth
never seen an oled below 240hz except tvs
240 seems to be the new default these days
all the qd oleds started as ultrawides with 165/175
its pointles marketing numbers
wtf curved oled?
yeah ultrawides are usually curved
curved oled seems pretty pointless anyway unless its an ultrawide
Mine is 1ms if you enable the faster setting...oh... its not native
lame ..still feels good to me though
gray to gray isnt true response rate is it
idk
its a pointless marketing number
TBH, 1080P is fine for me when gaming but id like 1440p for everything else
The numbers they list aren’t even the averages either
1080p looks awful after 1440p
my laptop is 1440p, and the amount of apps I can have on screen without them being too cramped is so nice compared to my 1080p desktop monitor
How do they avoid claims of false marketing
is it enough that it achieved x value in very specific conditions
1440p or 2160p is my preference for gaming
or do they even test the panels, but just go with whatever the manifacturers said
Otherwise it’s Retina display levels of PPI for desktop use
They test them but the average response time is usually higher than what’s listed
right, not like most people buying would even notice it

how.. do you miss a video posted in the middle of a discussion 5 minutes ago
I know we have all seen 1ms and 5ms response times in the description when looking for a monitor but is it actually true? Well No.... but the whole idea behind it is not exactly what it seems.

Pretty sure Monitors Unboxed goes into this on one of his videos as well
But yeah it’s just marketing really
I will say OLEDs do have faster response than LCDs
reminds me of when keyboards marketed n key roll over and anti ghosting
Wait, why did GN not test emulation? Not all game companies treat it like an illegal activity ...
Who knows
why does it matter
The industry's favourite law firm: Nintendo
I love Nintendo
Because the second they'll show from Nintendo not captured on Nintendo devices the line of corporate lawyers will form outside GN's office
They make some cool games
yeh thats why I said not all game companies

they can emulate not nintendo games and should be fine
Emulation may be legal, but unfortunately fighting in court until one of the sides bankrupts is also legal
does including footage of Nintedos official emulator count too? or is that ok with Nintendo?
Like the emulator they use for NSO
plan make a game company that earns u billions, fight nintendo in curt
That’s fair use in a nutshell
Be willing to fight it in court or don’t bother
true
Hell yeah
Nintendo!
my wifi is so slow when downstairs :/
lmao

bruh I just found a 49 inch OLED gaming monitor....whom'st'tf has a 49 inch monitor?! I assume that would be for couch gaming in the sitting room or something not at a desk xd
@unkempt lake has a 49" monitor
on the desk?!
yes
Yes
...I guess it is similar to having 2 or 3 monitors
o wow
It replaced my 3 montors

have you found out how
im just thinking how awesome that would be with something like Hyprland

get a weapon faster from chests in Forknife
A weapon to surpass moumou gear
LOL, most OLEDs are 240Hz and most 1440p LCDs are 180Hz
nah moumou gear is superior
there is 240HZ+ LCD's as well
yeh but MOST xd
at least on this website, most are 180
Guess it makes more sense than 165 since 180 is divided down to 60
i went from 165 to 180
FreeSync is just like G-Sync
...
but yeah its just fancy named VRR
aha... ok
yeh, I recognise the software from your screenshot
Im glad my OEM driver bundle came with it cause I Had no idea what I needed to get for the drivers when I installed Windows on my desktop
Is Nvidia GSync useless when you have an AMD GPU?

cause this screen only says it works with Gsync
most likely supports G-sync
the gsync module only works with nvidia, your cheap screen likely doesnt have that so its possible its also free sync compatible
Almost all screens support Freesync, because there's no royalty to implement it
but that depends on the monitor, you'll see if it gives you the options or not
you can't make use of that in that case, but most screens will work with FreeSync, since it's open source and costs nobody anything, while Gsync is licensed
(in fact there are very very few screens at all that have true G-Sync modules today, most things are just "COMPATIBLE")
My current display does work with AMD, VRR is definetly enabled and working right
but I am looking into 1440p monitors and this cheaper one says it only has Gsync
ngreedia license
The GSYNC module is expensive but for a while it was the only way to actually get good VRR on a display
And even the early GSYNC Compatible branding was the only way to get a good FreeSync display. Monitor companies just removed the FreeSync logo/branding in many cases.
Not really a problem any more at least.
yeah its not really greed when you add a expensive FPGA to handle the logic to the monitor
G-Sync is still a superior solution, but getting screens with real modules in them rather than just "compatible" solutions is a pita, nobody really wants to pay the premium.
not to mention theres still not updated gsync module with faster dispalyports or anything
They have also licensed the tech to MediaTek now
wdym ofc there is, how else would the 4k144 have existed?
I still wanna buy one, but manufacturers started obscuring if the monitors have them or not more and more, the price is the only indicator if anything to go by.
they updated it? what speeds does that support?
🤢 this monitor comes with HDMI cable, why?? is Displayport not faster?
old one was 1080 60 on hdmi 1080 240 on displayport or 1440p120 or 4k60
new one is up to 4k144 on dp and hdmi
no..
has a real shit energy rating 😅
Newest HDMI is a bit faster than newest DP
oh theres a 4k160hz now! with hdr!
wut
not even close
that means absolutely nothing, monitors and TV screens always have awful energy ratings
yeah if you ignore stuff like they didnt give mediatek any info to test the chips before production so the display doesnt work on GB10
dp and hdmi are just ports, which one is faster depends on whos more recent to having a new version released..
thats partially true but also hdmi limits their support by requiring specific specs
DP 2.1a is 80Gbps, HDMI 2.2 is 96, close enough
dp2.1a on usbc is 120gbps and you can get devices that can use that right now
I started preferring DisplayPort, but the fact that they still put 1.4 on high res/high refresh screens, that clownery i can't.
now sure that 1 device is a dock being used to split out into 3 monitors but shh
also in this case, for a 1440p 180hz screen it really doesnt matter, even if dp was faster its not like the screen benefits from it
is MSI MAG 274QRFW decent?
It has AMD Free-sync, 1ms and allegedly HDR
Need that HDMI 2.2 for future 4K 240Hz OLEDs
LG G-series is slowly working towards it
it says here that DP is faster than HDMI on the monitor spec sheet
Up to 165 Hz this year
Seems you do need to use DP to get 180Hz
180hz isnt an official hdmi spec so checks out but it should work anyways with your gpu
but it comes with a HDMI cable 🤔 so wtf
they give you a cable that cant do the speed they sell you
dp1.4 already supports that so get rekt
Only with DSC
that means the port on it doesnt support the speeds, on this monitor the hdmi implementation might be faster, doesnt mean hdmi is slower in general
you cant prove that 😛
HDMI 2.2 would allow for 4K240 HDR without DSC
you asked if hdmi is slower in general which isnt a case
HDMI is the better standard
you say that as if theres a difference
ah yes i love paying money for a slower port
You have to use camera, zoom in it reaaaaaly closely and then in a very controlled situation you may notice a difference
Very true, however sometimes some screens only support a high refresh rate they advertise through overclock/overdrive (i'm not sure which term is the proper one used in this case), and that only work through the DP port exclusively.
My ACER for example by default would only do 144Hz, but it's advertised as a 165Hz screen, and you can only enable as such above.
hdmi is inherently worse because they cost money and foce you to use their binary blobs so you cant open source it, but if you just want to use it, just use whatever works
not even, people think the compression is like jpeg or mp4, but its muuuuuuuuuuch less compressed than that
3x8k60 1 cable
🤔
Follow CIE1976 standard
wtf this mean, gotta investigate
are these good values??
123% sRGB is pretty good for IPS
good, dont need to worry about it tho

🤔
The CIELUV triangle aka this big blob is what colors we can see
And DCI-P3 and sRGB are gamut standards for monitors
I dont really care HDR on my monitor that much, idek what spec my current one has
so hmm, this says it has HDR 400
HDR is not more colors, it's more contrast ratio
HDR 10-bit is more colors and more contrast ratio
You can have 8-bit HDR or 10-bit SDR too
I feel HDR is not worth it on something that isnt OLED cause the blacks cant get that black on LCD or the like anyway
if its not oled dont care about it basically (some non oleds are fine but you arent looking at that price range)
Yeah...
There are IPS with good contrast ratio and good HDR
But you can't beat any displayed black with turned off pixel
yeh XD
They also usually can't get bright enough
I may upgrade to this monitor TBH, it has what I care about and its a good price
give my current one to my friend whos building a gaming PC for the first time
actually lcd usually gets brighter than oled at the same price
if not pinpoint brighter, then full screen brighter almost certainly
Also LCD blacks do get blacker than the oleds available for monitors, its only the stuff available on smartphones that can alr well
Ok this monitors real refresh rate is 5.5ms when you have it on the "fast" setting in the OSD
Now I wonder what mine is actually running at
How good is running games at 1080p on a 1440p monitor? is it blurry?
Not the best
why would you want to do that
Muh performance
Pretty scuffed
Really looking at 4k panels if you want to play at 1080 regularly
But only reason to do that would be if you were really into competitive games and needed the extra fps
Better performance
Most games I play will be just fine at 1440p
But cyberpunk probably won't be
At least not at Ultra settings like I have it at the moment
So you engage FSR, DLSS, XeSS, or whatever the game has and deal with the blurrier looks. Or reduce graphics quality..
And I want to always reach 60fps so that I can have VRR active
Nah....
I don't wanna use that stuff unless I really need to
I prefer native resolution wherever I can
I could do frame gen maybe
Doesn't seem to affect the visuals that much from what I've seen at 2x
FSR4 should give you a small boost ,should work decent on 7700X
if you think you cant run at 1440p dont get a 1440p screen
I think I'm fine for every game I play except cyberpunk
But I can drop that down from Ultra settings if I have to
That didn't stop me buying a 165hz display when I had a GTX 1660....
thats not the same? you dont have upscaling issues when just not hitting max refresh rate
True
Any good wireless headphones for gaming? I have a budget of around 400-500 for them, and I dont really like big or bulky headphones but more slim
400-500?
You can get a good headset for that, like Audeze Maxwells
are they as good as the, "Fractal Design Scape Dark Wireless RGB Gaming Headset"? Someone recommended me those
Any similar priced headphones are better than headphones with "gaming" in the name
https://www.rtings.com/headphones check here the category you want then you can find good ones for your price range
Alright thanks

I don't know about the rest
Buy a yoga mat and just stand upright
Magnetic desk mat?!
Yes
Why?
Would if I buy a mouse pad?
I was thinking of the WALLHACK SP-004A
U need a mousepad under the keyboard or even 2
ohhh what If I get their mdesk mat?
And I need one under the keyboard because it's magnetic?
I don't understand why are the desk mats magnetic?
Bc the whole desk is metal
Oh...
€900 yikes
So expensive
And its 70kg
120 Kg supported is impressive
Ok shipping gonna cost like 300 xd
I mean just look at the size
This would give me so much anxiety... Hell no
Don't want my PC balancing on a little metal arm
Especially with cables pulling it downward coming out the back
these things hold your pc super easily
So would it be good? I want the Pro XL
I have an ultrawide monitor, and I want a secondary one aswell (secondary not ultrawide)
If u use plus mousepads under the keyboard yes
Bc it can have issues with the keyboard’s calibration
The desk is 9 euro to ship..
That's impressively cheap for something this large and heavy
So a full deskmat instead of just an area one
a little more than I thought
good mouse 👍
I don't understand how the PC doesn't fall off this shit
why would it fall off when its sitting on a sturdy piece of metal
A piece of metal that's like 3 inches wide
its not a thin sheet of aluminium
Yeah I know
But the PC must be pretty well balanced to stay on it
How thin is the metal piece?
rip knees
Don't you secure it so that there is no wiggle room
If the pc is touching the top part as well there shouldn't be much wiggle room
At the top yeah
But it's still gonna be leaning backwards potentially the entire time putting stress on one side more than the other
pcs are like 10kg not 100

The goon processing unit

I wish Apple didn’t have the most dogshit picture editing
Samsung makes me wanna go back just cause of theirs
Snipping tool
For you there's no limit
Well held out long enough
realy good peripherals but where is mousepad?
I was thinking of the WALLHACK SP-004A
it depends on what ur playing and ur sens
Just casual games mostly
but i would get the new va-005 from wallhack
yea so it's good for a lot of games where u have to track or shoot so i recomend but more the va-005 than sp-004
Isnt that a pre order?
i don't think so
u pay 10$ more and get better mousepad overall
tbh idk im gonna check
it is the sp-004 is 39x45cm and the va-005 is 44x51cm
Oooo
THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT 😩

So yeah, you're basically fucked if you've gotten the update and your pc needs to be recovered.
Yeah but if you got bitlocker enabled and you don't have a spare windows pc to decrypt your files with, you are screwed.
She used another laptop AFAIK, she has a Framework 13 that shes using this on
Ah
Cause she also uses a Macbook for video editing
but the Framework for everything else
I want a framework, but the gpu selection is what prevents me from getting one
Oh, the 16?
Yeah, if they had a Blackwell Pro 4000 gpu module for the 16 I'd get it instantly
Don’t get a framework unless you get it for free
Yeah I heard the build quality is subpar compared to other laptops like the thinkpad P and X1 series.
Cauz I use a thinkpad for work stuff
Build quality is bad, value is super bad, issues like firmware updates coming late etc.
like there was a issue with battery flipping between charging and discharging that took them nearly 3 years to fix
Bro what!? When plugged in!?
yeah
Holy shit man. 3 years is insane
With AC connected and battery charge at the set threshold, the battery status as reported by the kernel often flips between charging and discharging, sometimes even within one or two seconds. (This can be seen using the Gnome battery icon or upower -d). AC is always reported as online. This also means I get a constant stream of udev events star...
So you're basically slowly eating away at your battery health whenever you are plugged in, nice.
I saw there is a setting in the UEFI to limit the charge to 80 or 90%
would that help maybe?
i mean tons of other laptops do the same
You shouldn't have to, windows can do it on an OS level
the only one ive seen that actually disconnects the batteries are industral/rugged ones
You shouldn't have to configure that in the UEFI BIOS, the OS can handle it just fine.
Yeah but since Framework support Linux, too...this is a nice solution thats OS-agnostic
the issue is this also triggered notification sounds from the laptop thinking the charger was plugged in/removed in some models
that one has been fixed now
wow
and that certainly doesnt happen on other laptops lol
nvidia would never
Def not getting Nvidia Graphics for the Framework 16 LOL
Unfortunately, although I am very happy with my P16 thinkpad. So at least there is a competent laptop out there that can serve my work needs.
so yeah just anytime someone wants to get a framework laptop I feel like I need to point out theres probably a bunch of (potential) issues the person likely wasnt aware of xD
i wish dell did a amd+nvidia laptop
Trueeeeee
Doesnt Dell only use Intel?
18
\though intels gpu swtiching is way way better than amd+nvidia
Yeah, they have a very good and long standing relationship
It only makes sense
in all the bis stuff yeah
For dell at least
Also never saw AMD GPUs in a Dell either
Cauz amd mobile dGPUs suck ass
Rarely see AMD GPUs in ANY laptop tbh
they sell amd desktop
All AMD??
they literally have ryzen+radeon pro desktops
oo
Yeah because everyone and their grandmother knows what happened with the corroding VIAS and unfixable microcode issues that Intel has with their desktop CPUs since 13th gen.
they also have tons of laptops too
just none with good dgpus
sucks is they offer the pro laptop in amd only in 16
Mobile amd gpus is just Kind of a dead end
(We don't talk about the time when I had to get a 14900K RMA'd twice for corroded VIAS)
Lenovo makes an AMD AI PRO 14 inch laptop
It's one of the P14 laptops
Lel, I mean, the ROG Zephyrus G14 isn't that bad and you get that thing with an RTX 5080
And it has an AMD cpu
I've had a lot of problems with Firefox for a long time, but this new release is really good...

Amd mobile Cpus are great.
The last gpu was in the 2022 edition of the G14. I got it. It's alrigjt
yee I agree
seems like the only person I know who has had a great experience with an AMD mobile DGPU is my friend who mains a Framework 16 7700S GPU
no with dead end I mean they literally arent really a thing anymore
no rdna4 mGPUs and rdna5 seems to all just be apu chiplets
why cant AMD do what nvidia does and just use the same chips as their desktop gpus but underclock and underpower them to consume less electricity?
maybe I am missing something but that is pretty much what Nvidia does with their mobile gpus
the chips arent the issue
its what they did before
you need extra firmware, OEM relations, convince them to put it into laptops instead of nvidia etc.
make sure powermanagement works with the oem firmware
true
does anyone know how to fix net jitter/packet loss? My ping is fine and stable but I get high spikes of packet loss and net jitter
try a vpn for better routing or/and call your isp saying your connection is shit and complain so maybe they fix it

didn't know he quit at LMG
LMG launching YouTube careers
yeah all the interesting people at lmg are gone
most of them are fired from LMG anyway xd
yeah because lmg is nice in that regard
being fired in 99% of cases is better than leaving
I miss Emily
the crazy thing about jake leaving is sarah is still working for ltt lol
Who?
You ppl know too much about presenters :p
nah they just both had the same cat and dog, i only care about pets
Still a it to shortcircuity
did they also leave lol
Isn't it more a case of who hasn't left at this point?
They have over 100 staff pretty standard for people to move on a lot of them had been there for quite a while
yeah but kinda sucks if you never see 80 of those so it doesnt really matter who they are, the 20 you see are important and all technical people that arent in the back are kinda gone now
A lot of the on screen people that have been there for a while have also just moved up into higher roles like Colton
I mean, hes not someone with knowledge of tech so doesnt matter to me xD
but as it is now the only interesting content imo is when they get somehting like a peak inside a new data center because of the channels size, anything else they dont have good hosts for anymore
Huuuuh
LTT does kind of suffer from a bit of a trend. A staff member is tested on camera, becomes a presenter and then leaves to start their own channel a couple of years later, heh
they both had the same cat and dog fam
I never noticed tbh.
Honestly don't even remember Jake having pets. Just goes to show how little I watch beyond main videos and don't pay attention I guess xD
Ah well there you go. I don't even browse IG

also i just searched both
Hi after my updates , I can’t connect my wooting60he , what should I do ya ?
#1019755933959733258 provide more info
is there a way to get a mnk overlay thats shown at any time and is transparent?
If you Google Wooting overlay, you should find a GitHub project
is it a realtime overlay that i can see on my screen? and does it include a mouse?
Go look.
alright thanks for ur help
Hey, could you check why my fresh server doesn't work
Hey, sure, what's happening
I can't run ansible, it dies on this task
And after 2 hours of debugging I wonder why there's curl from 2020 on this "fresh server" which didn't support json write-out at that time
And instead of nice (curl_result.stdout | from_json).http_code == 201 for example I have to some voodoo
use jq?
I can't use jq if there's no json object at all in the first place
oh right
Fresh server, giga outdated curl?
oh right, probably LTS meme

5 year old OS on supposedly fresh server
why would you install a expanded support lts ubuntu
OS hagsmaxing
aka, its in ubuntu pro support range, AS YOU INSTALL IT
We don't even have this iso anymore on company servers, dude had to use his own
Oh well, time to delete and tell him to set up another one, on 24.04 this time
Watch it be 18.04
Has to be 10.04 for that GNOME 2 goodness.

Heyo, since a Wooting member said something on Reddit about it, are you going to sell straps in different colors anytime soon? I really like the Cyan one but don't see myself spending 30€ on it from a private seller
do you guys prefer silicone or poron and why
Unlikely anytime soon
in what context?
as a sandwich pad
Oh I don't use sandwich pads if we are talking about a per switch sandwich pad
Sadge
With module you get two sandwich pad, one is silicone and one is poron
I think I used the silicone one, it sounded nice
idk if holy case makes the sound profile worse
it makes it more hollow from what i have heard others say
so it depends on what your definition of "bad" is i suppose
loud
do you have 60he?
i suggest getting friction fit pad if youre going to use a tradtional case
ill get the v2
if youre gonna get the gt60 case from kbdfans you can try n mix+match pads
i got the gt60 coming in so hopefully i can get some sound tests in
oh the holy60 thing from gateron?
yeah
im not sure if friction fit pad works in that case
its just im new in this and I just want to build it myself
If I got the case and the module will I be fine
or do I need something more since its not wootings case
ideally you want to not screw the pcb to the case
cause it transfers vibrations into it
so what can i do
you can try these
https://geon.works/products/geon-key-snap
KEYSNAP? It offers a simple and convenient alternative to the Gummy O-ring mount. Material: Silicone 70A / FKM 70A Example photos of mounting on the PCB and plate Example photos of KeySnap assembly Vertical coverage size of the PCB: 94.0 ± 0.2 mm Make sure to install the KeySnap while avoiding the indicated area. If th
you clip them to the pcb and place them over the screw standoffs
depends what kind of metal case finish you prefer, this one seems to be e-coated. There is also anodized cases but im not sure about the sakura case, I only know about the OG Holy60 series
NEW IN iOS 26.1 BETA 4: Apple has added a toggle that allows you to control the Liquid Glass transparency!

Like a slider on how transparent or just a on/off toggle?
Also why add it if people are just going to ask for a way to turn it off
Clear just has a slight distortion effect
Tinted still takes into account the background
Apple does it again, proving why it’s superior
both suck arse nowadays

Finally
Revolutionary
is this the bad update?! that ruins performance?!
I didn’t find any
Haven't bothered to install it, once it auto-installs sometime in the future one will probably either notice something or not
Haven't played anything since 18th of August and that whatever update was fine then
Yeah it didn't seem to break anything for me
I’m kinda down for that
its literally less words to type into google "25h2 performance" and seeing what it does..
@wheat plume nico has it and his shit runs the same
is tmr keyboards going to take over he
Not any time soon
TMR currently doesn't do things better than what HE already does
im studying them atm and they seem to do better with power consumption
There's one Monsgeek article which is basically an ad for their keyboard, which Gemini took it as a reliable source
idk who is gemini
Google's AI assistant
Maybe wait 1-2 years before looking back. Even 60he takes time before everybody and their mother manufacture it.
Even if true it doesn't do much unless you want a wireless keyboard
The difference in power consumption not that big either
Also as for bigger precision - sure, TMR work better somewhere where there's a bigger range and more precision is required
But over 4mm HE can achieve reliably 0.05mm precision, so that's enough for a keyboard
Why it doesn't - is because switches are not manufactured with necessary precision to do so, TMR won't fix that either
hi guys, i have question, is it possible to avoid customs fee while ordering 80 he? i dont wanna pay 200 euros for customs only xD
where are you ordering from
Serbia bro 😭
thanks
how can the taxes be that high youre both in eu
serbia is not in eu
wait it isnt
if you mean by european union lol
no in europe
yea yea its in europe but not european union\
if i want to get 80 he i gotta pay more than 350 euros total bro its crazy
is there any local stores that sells wootings
just how high are those import taxes
they are crazy high sadly
i know that some streamers from serbia are ordering stuff from other brands, they ask manufacters to not apply price tag on products so they cant pay customs and taxes
Not much Wooting can do about your countries import taxes unfortunately, not supplying correct price information to avoid taxes is fraud
EU to Serbia import tax is ~15% from EU iirc for electronics
And keyboard wuold cost ~200€ before all that, ~230€ after
yeah and than when you add customs and taxes its more than 350 euros
those are only keyboard price and shipping
its says prices exclude taxes and import duties
i know friend of mine that paid about that price
Everywhere I look customs for shipping electronics from EU to Serbia is 10~15%
VAT is 20%
idk bro but i know several people that got wooting in serbia they paid almost 400 euros after taxes and other bs
it is kind hard to believe the taxes would be that high
Maybe they got 80HE Zinc? 300€ + ~30% in customs and VAT makes it 400
i can check with my friend and than i can 100% confirm
but i am really sure that its like that
im pretty sure you have ordered electronics before
https://www.carina.rs/upload/media/2025/8/29/65184/Regulation_on_harmonization_of_the_Customs_Tariff_nomenclature_for_the_2025_OG_RS_73-25.pdf Found document and even it looks like it's customs free
Maybe if they ordered by UPS then they added their own fees on top? They are notorious in doing so
idk bro i will check with them but i am sure that taxes and customs are really expensive
thank you for putting your effor into all this bro ❤️

i really appreciate it bro!
My 80he is getting phantom presses, why is that?
un plug and replug
usually cause of unstable voltage supply
and then #1019755933959733258
try another port and lower brightness if you are on tachyon mode
I was going to fix it, but if it doesn't work, can I get a warranty?
Let's try to fix it first, because it's way more likely that it's a settings/firmware issue than hardware
Do you use Tachyon + 0.1mm actuation?
which sampling rate and bit depth should I use on desktop even?
For what?
most things i gues
i was on 32 bit 48k but is that even compatible with most stuff
i set it to 24bit 44.1
I run 24bit/48 but if you don't record or anything 44.1 is fine
allright
Tachyon mode is disabled and 1.0mm actuation
i was mainly concerned if it would deteriorate music streaming quality because of resampling but idk if thats relevant
just gayming and music
There’s a chattering issue where the S key registers multiple times.
why have I never had that issue
Resampling nowadays is really good, and whining about it is mostly a domain of audiophiles who claim that gold-plated USB cable will improve sound, despite the fact that USB is completely digital
oh lmao
so 24bit 44.1/48k is all good and no worries?
but dont do 32 bit
Could you send a screenshot from https://analog-monitor.wootility.io/ how it looks?
I didn't know there was anything like this. I'll try it when I get back home🥺
Sure, I use 16/44.1 for everyday, when I listen to music then player tells my DAC to set sampling and bit depth to the same as song's
24bit is extra, and I don't think there are DACs that can do 24bit
I mean, sure, they can understand 24bit input, but can't output analog voltage precise enough to reach 24bit
Not even mentioning 32bit
What is wrong with Gboard
I swear, they change font size on my keyboard almost everyday
Sounds about right
I miss the food old swift keyboard days
There's something not right about it these days
I'm too used to swipe typing from Gboard
Yup, still on swiftkey. It works best for me. Easy multi language and punctuation
This is the picture when I press "s"
Have you swapped out the switch
I've replaced several switches, including the lekker switch
Aite, reset should help
In Wootility copy all of your profiles (share profile and save code), then go to Help -> Troubleshoot and follow the guide
And so - it begins https://80.lv/articles/pinterest-finally-allows-you-to-filter-out-ai-generated-images-here-s-how

How long until AI has a mode to beat anti-AI filters?

Whaddya mean that's totally real art made by a human
I thought of the prompt therefore it's real
That's just a question of quality and not using very distinctive styles at the end of the day.
If you go to those AI chatbot sites all of the generated avatars use very specific, very distinctive models.
I wish there was a slim streaming handheld that was 1080p
The last time I played a game on my deck hardware was a year ago
Great question for 100 points
What to do with plate adhesion problems?
Not that print doesn't stick to plate, it stick way too well and I have problems with cleaning it
Funnily enough I had this issue on my last printer, it was a nightmare
I think it's down to the type of plate, my current one is never a struggle.
However it is textured
I mean my stock basic textured PEI plate
Yes, good kat
I lie, I played a PS2 game the other night.
i feel like i might have somehow killed my OS by alt tabbing at a bad time
game froze, then everything froze, then screen went dark and i couldnt do anything other than hard reset and now it cant find a boot device
wait maybe i am on the windows version that kills your ssd
you are not because its not a windows its a broken test version on SSDs that caused it, and you dont have that
idk any of the normal corruption of hardware or software
I sure hope not, this would be the 4th time i reset this laptop
oh laptop, could also be laptop oem skill issue then

Interesting 👀
I see more HDR improvements in the release notes
Ah yes HDR aka Brightness lvl 150%
^
Anything with hdr10 or hdr400 is just extra brightness and contrast :')
Ok so i tried to install debian on it and now windows works again???
??????????
Microsoft spaghetti code
Well if it can’t find a boot device I’d guess the uefi is fucked or similar
Never underestimate how bad laptop OEMs are when it comes to software
yea contrast is the entire point lol
hdr10 itself doesn't mean anything in the context
Why tf is this 6 grand?!
MSI tax lmao
money
Because a price for an out of stock model doesn’t matter and doesn’t even mean it was sold at that price
Or could also be regional pricing
Similar price, in stock
Irish website?
ye
Then why do you asks when you know electronics cost more there
but how much more is this than usual, thats what I wanna know
Then ask that? Or just look up the same model in another country if they sell it
I waited two days before I bought ram and it's gone up again 😭
grab Geizhals, match each component on picture with roughly the median priced models, add the case and fans, and you shall see the rough price.
Don’t think there is an Irish version of geizhals to use
Uk has one but don’t think Ireland does
sry they couldnt spend the 2 cents per unit to properly render the gif
Hdr10 is a hdr protocol, d
Hdr400 is telling how bright the screen can get.
Amazon said they would refund the difference.
They don't need it to be irish, it can complete the task just fine, and if it came down to actual sourcing, germany is perfect for it.
Yeah but she isn’t looking at getting the pc just at why the pc costs so much and the simple answer is prebuilt cost more and if the parts already cost more it’s just adding on top
