Since 2019, yeah
In 2023 they bought it out, now they finished the transaction, but de facto they had full control over it since then
Wowoowow I didn’t know that
can all of these streaming services just go back to having one service with everything on it please
If I had all that money I’d spend it on gacha game!
I wish
this is my main motivation behind maintaining my plex setup
my region gets shit deals
Back then everything was on Netflix and it was all good
Now my parents have Netflix, Max, Canal+, Disney+ and Amazon Prime
Netflix Mojave?
i used to hardcore netflix too
then they took off my favorite shows
then they stopped getting good deals on shows i liked for my region
i was like yeah i aint playing cat and mouse with streaming services
yeah this is typical enshittification
suits thought they should be making the money and now its all gone to shit
also if i yarrharr i tend to just get better quality material anyways
but honestly i wouldnt even have minded netflix having worse quality for my brokie plan, IF THEY HAD THE DANG SHOW
netflix is still cheap in korea so it's the only one i keep, but i cancelled everything else because it was too annoying
maybe you just need the right one. It's time to start watching Itaewon Class for an inspiring underdog tail of revenge and work ethic
i dont want to suddenly grow 10 years older, ive seen what kdramas do man
not as devastating as telenovelas but still
Early Netflix used to be so good
maybe you just need the right one. You need an uplifting tale that inspires you
Though Netflix has obscure Filipino and SEA soap operas with english subtitles, so I'm very happy to have it
But movies I only take from sailing
yeah i was never much of a fan of those so netflix slowly became a sour deal for me
still nice they are spotlighting them for the enjoyers though
i liked crunchyroll until they removed comments
i was baffled when reddit downvoted me and defended that decision
how can a left leaning platform have so many corporate bootlickers
At the end, it is not the business owners that make the most money, it's the investors.
that seems to be the reason why everything is going downhill anyway
It's because many of these companies were ran pretty unsustainably. Some are arguably still extremely unsustainable. And once they gained market share they need to turn a profit somehow.
never liked cr i always just yarhar'd or used netflix (very rarely) for anim0s
Like YouTube is ran at a complete loss.
But you can make a good service and make way more money
See at Steam and Gaben being yachtillionaire
pirate sites are garbage these days
during covid we had publically accessible sites with good bitrate streaming
YouTube?! $16B revenue just from last year
i dont bother with those rando streaming sites LOL
so ass, i just build my plex collection brick my brick
Let's not talk that, Discord very much doesn't like that
but yeah i was never around for these lol
Revenue != profit
YouTube's operating costs def exceeds what they earn in revenue.
how do you host a plex server
the target audience of those sites must be kids who dont know better or something
You install the software, and point it to a folder with your legitimate DVD rips.
you kinda just do, lotsa documentation

emphasis on legitimate
i acquire all of my media through legal channels
i am a very good person with great chances at a spot in heaven
Revenue is what the company earns, not what it can make.
so you dont need a nas to host a media server?
not necessarily
Ah yes, my bad
$16B was profit, revenue was $36.2B
You can totally run a plex server on a nas, but it will probably be dog slow
a nas is certainly useful for a lot of things though, not just that
i would just build one regardless
A NAS is just a PC with lots of harddrives that (typically) runs 24/7 on your local network.
For file backups and media services like Plex.
you could legit host plex on a crappy 8th gen intel laptop if you wanted
Any PC connected to internet network can be media server
I am a media server
I still need to make my media server
Ultimately your CPU and RAM just needs to be able to cope with whatever you need doing. Running 4K video to a TV is going to be more intensive than 720P
According to what?
Their financial statement?
I have an older Ryzen 2200G and 16GB of RAM in my NAS. Handles a single video stream of any kind of 1080P I have to my TV just fine.
but you need a machine thats on at all the times to host a plex no?
yeah this is why people typically use n100s, or laptops with crippled chipsets
they run cool and efficient
i think it is why ewaste laptops are often upcycled into mediaservers by homelab enthusiasts entering the hobby
Crunchyroll had a comments section?
most NAS servers operate all day all night. At least mine do.
yes for years
News to me
they removed it to make a "safer enviroment"
Although I do not watch the animes
Probably didn't want to pay for moderators
part of me thinks it is justified
its pure garbage
interactions between degens 🥀
a major part of anime is the damn interactive community
That's what Twitter is for
no
we kinda have discord communities for that now i think
Also helps the platform #trend
twitter is for angry people
most are completely dead
people who like an anime would usually look up the respective discord community for it
not that i care LOL!!! 😂😂😂
they are all dead and off topic
i wouldnt touch them with a 10 trillion foot pole
how cool of you
not necessarily cool i think i just dont find a lot of insight out of the typical anime audience
i think the typical audience does not care to engage on a deeper level
the ones with insight probably already have their own circles to discuss in
🥀
Yeah youtube
myanimelist is probably the most active platform for general discussions
anilist ux is miles better but it has much less users
Ai is ur friend

I like it better and all my friends use it too so made sense to switch to it for me

From the looks of it, and way I use my monitor (absolute low brightness, switching between yt and discord, changing tabs often) i think I'll be fine with oled if what he said is true.
you will buy a new monitor before you get any signs of burn in
especially with all the oled protections nowadays
I would probably get burn in considering i play arpgs with static UI elements for thousands of hours
Yall I need help
This monitor not taking full screen I need help I already tried setting up everything to recommended
right click > display options
if the one you want isnt available due to being weird res
you can try setting custom res in your gpu program
and the right res isnt under here?
heres the advanced stuff
first ,what resolution is the monitor
Display resulation is 1440 x 2560 recommended
If you don't know what resolution the monitor physically has you gotta find that out
windows recommends all type of shit
no, just google the model number
guys ive got a stupid silly question qwq if i smoke near my wooting does it have any effects on it like am i killing it or anything
because if it were 2560x1440p thered be no black borders
shouldnt affect it except getting it dirty and smelly.
How to find out the model number I’m new to this stuff?
its a vape, but thank u so much
well what was it called when you bought it
this should also tell you
okay it IS 2560x1440
thats pretty odd
if i do portrait on my 2560x1440p monitor it works just fine
Ye what should I do?
Ye same
okay so something about the monitor is borked
try replugging the display cable ig cant hurt
or windows doing windows things
who knows
I’ll Try that
How to update it?
Didn’t work
for nvidia https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
for amd https://www.amd.com/en/products/software/adrenalin.html
How to know what monitor is mine lol
Mine is a 5070 ti zotac gaming
okay so nvidia (first link)
gpus do some freaky shit without drivers
you mean while its doing it
uhhh
try windows updates..?
What’s arch Linux?
dont mind the frog
Okay
evil OS for evil people
well its just a side vertical monitor, doesnt have to be expensive
probably something thats also 1440p, doesnt need to be high-refreshrate, IPS if you really want it to be
you can just look for something inexpensive on amazon, just look up "1440p IPS monitor" and look at a couple of reviews for it
doesnt make sense to buy a new monitor for this
Can u name me 1? I’m a bit impatient I would prob get it in irl store
i mean you can go into a store and look for something that meats those requirements
i was just in the shower so i missed recebt developments
So what should I get 1440P?
i see no reason to buy a new monitor thats wild
and fair chance the same thing happens
did drivers and windows updates
does your monitor have a button/joystick on it either on the bottom (near logo) or back? @pine wren
indeed
so it was some odd mode switch or sth
Thanks
odd way to fix it but ig it works
how does it detect this 🤔
it just does
the apple way
propbably using the mics if you snore
😭
that would be crazy
don't need an apple watch or anything?
some guy in the next room snores and my music pauses
would be so mad since the snoring is probably what u tried to block with music

Idk what to use it for
why did you get it then lol
My 2 Decks
Gaming almost every day on them
2 decks? at the same time?
Noooo
One is for Steam games, other for emulation
Sharks have 2 decks
You have blajah plushies
Why do you have 2 decks
You ask me this every time I mention it
I got LCD first and when OLED released I got it for CSGO skins
ok but why dont you have more?
I want valve to make a steam deck slim or steam deck lite
I will buy one if they do
3rd one is brother's, for now it's in his room
Because I have all emulators there
It's nice to play on one while other is charging anyway
anyone here using steamdeck with moonlight or parsec (using own pc)
@pale sigil
does it work well and stuff?
Between this and macOS 27 not supporting ANY Intel Macs, I do wonder if we'll be getting a huge under-the-hood overhaul next year? I wouldn't be surprised if Rosetta 2 for compatibility with the remaining Intel apps was discontinued as well.
Most likely, it isn't like Apple to keep compatibility for legacy apps around for long
Apple is also planning changes to Rosetta 2, the Intel-to-Arm app translation technology created to ease the transition between the Intel and Apple Silicon eras. Rosetta will continue to work as a general-purpose app translation tool in both macOS 26 and macOS 27.
But after that, Rosetta will be pared back and will only be available to a limited subset of apps—specifically, older games that rely on Intel-specific libraries but are no longer being actively maintained by their developers. Devs who want their apps to continue running on macOS after that will need to transition to either Apple Silicon-native apps or universal apps that run on either architecture.
Yes but im limited by the LCD modem
It isn't very strong
the Intel-to-Arm app translation
oh god the pain when reading technical talk by someone who clearly doesnt understand it
okay nice

supposedly even better then steams own version
Eg pushing it to 150mb is not particularly doable in a lot of cases simply because it's nerfed, like I get 350-400 down max if im lucky.
The oled is much much better though
But ye, pretty much most of my usage on the deck has always been moonlight 😅
ye just wanna play forza and other stuff in bed lol
It's much better than steams stuff for sure
the steamdeck oled seems to be cheapest oled thing for this that still has a lil power
Forza 4/5 keeps nice 40~60fps on Deck regardless
Is it someone who doesn't understand it or someone who is trying to explain it to someone who doesn't understand it...
I've been using my tablet to stream to and attaching controllers to the sides lol
oh is moonlight also on mobile?
Moonlight is on about everything
maybe ill try that first
I mean they also didnt call it the IBM to Intel tool when talking about the original
Probably called it powerpc (to intel)
if you want to make it simpler you call it Intel to Apple, not intel to arm
just ipad with bluetooth controller should work too then
Correct would be Intel to M series but that sounds awful and everyone already knows of the transition as "the arm transition"
time for ipad pro oled just for this
Although I will admit
they dont even mention arm aside from that just call it "an Apple Silicon Mac"
Just x86-to-arm
I had to return those controllers and I've been using the deck again
It's nice
I just wish it had a bigger screen
Or Intel-to-Apple Silicon
so even if you argue you dont want to explain what x86 is, this would still be a bad way because its wrong and not just inaccurate
wait i could use moonlight on apple tv
is there some way to have the pc wake up and sleep just through the software on the device its getting streamed to
Well it is kinda accurate since it was Intel
And as for what it is now, it's not afterburner or t2 style custom, it's an arm chip
but its not made by Arm the company
Apple devices aren't made by Apple the company either
the chips are made by apple as much as the intel chips were by intel
Not when Apple was still using them
Amd chips were made by amd sure, but intel actually owns fabs (and back then they were good enough to be used)
when can i buy foxconn phone
Im pretty sure u can do that on steamdeck
Whenever you want
with moonlight tho
needs the branding too
Ah not sure
x86 was created by Intel, so it's popular to call it Intel too, just like it's popular to call x86-64 AMD64
But M chips are ARMv8/v9, so they could be called ARM too
amd invented 3d
well I disagree with your view and either the person doesnt know what they are writing about or they know and are using something incorrectly on purpose to make it sound easier when its just more confusing
Foxxconn doesn't use foxxconn for branding devices
Sharp is the closest to a consumer brand they have
They tried with a car, but competition was too fierce for now
just stop making other phones
Oh nvm it's Foxtron for cars not Foxconn
and make foxconn phone
Much more reliable to manufacture than to sell
Less upside but also less downside
i predict it to be the best phone ever
I wouldn't
The sharp phones aren't great
So why trust their "parent" company
Moonlight cna wake via lan
You can also send a shutdown signal I think
i like foxes
That certainly is a way to pick brands

damn did i miss it?

Hi everyone, I need your help.
My Wooting 80HE is set to 8000 Hz in Wootility, but USB Tree Viewer shows it's only running at USB 2.0 (High-Speed). I’m using the original cable, plugged directly into the USB-C port on the back of my ASUS ROG Strix X570-E motherboard. No hubs, no extensions. I’ve tried other ports too – same result. The companion ports support SuperSpeed, but the keyboard always connects via the USB 2.0 lane.
Anyone else experienced this or found a fix without needing a PCIe USB card?
yeah no keyboard needs 3.0
i want the 8000hz... solution?
you have the 8000hz
2.0 high speed is damn fast
Its enough for 4mhz polling on the wooting if I'm doing my math right?
is there a wooting-polling-rate-tester?
Forgot about analog, it'll be less with analog
I get that, but my concern is that I can still enable 8kHz polling in Wootility even when using a regular USB-A cable. I thought 8k shouldn't even be possible over USB-A, so it makes me wonder if it’s really running at 8kHz or just showing that setting without actually applying it.
If Wooting can run 8000Hz over USB 2.0 without any dongle, why do other brands like ASUS or Razer need a Polling Rate Booster for 8000Hz? What's different in their hardware or implementation?
1.1 to 2.0 was all on the signallying, the cable was the same
wank
marketing wank
the boosters are usb 2.0
they dont need 3.0
arent dongles for.... wireless products
why the booster?
that would solve anything 😄
to get more money out of you
asus needs it for wired too
bruh
thank you guys... i will never ask chat gpt again..., take me 2 days...
that isnt asus
asus makes you buy a addon to get over 1k
not saying it is asus, just a different product that does 8k with a wire
there is no issue with doing 8k wireless or wired, the booster is asus wank
egg
Still don't ship to NZ
Oh true, when did this happen
Looks like within the past 3-4 months sweet maybe it's time

OLD XD
ha-ha repost
neat, if you have a metal credit card, when you get your replacement they send you a prepaid mailer to depose of your old one because you cant shred them
Get a better shredder
i dont even own a shredder though
melt it
pretty sure its stainless steel
not worth melting it
yeah amex started it for the black card, and now everyone has one
@reef patrol pls help.
Why is the a Mansen problem, i see no ducks, water or peas
cardboard creditcard?
found the issue, the external drive i plugged in was bad?
bros a saviour
until the endgame gear op1 8k v2 releases we're gonna be maining this crappy logi m340 bc i have nothing else
sold my logi g309 lightspeed for $60 (please nobody buy that mouse ever) so now we're here i guess
And i just enjoy my x2h mini from pulsar :3
the fact u got rid of it for that price is very impressive tbh
Was the g309 worse compared to this or?
yea, got it for $70 on sale, half a year of use
g309 was actually pretty good, just not worth the price and i couldn't see myself using it much longer
so my friend wanted it
this pebble mouse thing is probably the world's worst mouse
it was just lying in some cabinent
but there are literally no other mice in my house
well there is one but my family uses it on the office computer
it's even worse somehow
also op18k v2 probably wont be impressive tbh
i would rather just get a refurbished op18k
i mean it releases in a week from what i've heard so why not
ye but you will be paying brand new prices for fairly marginal improvements
i was disappointed when this likely was the case for xm1 4k v2 as well
i personally would rather get a refurb unit in nice condition and fight against waste >.<
if its worth it to you then thats fair i guess
unrelated but egg has been kinda a snoozesfest to me personally
at this point im just waiting for their rumored asym to release
their keyboard sucks iirc

One disadvantage is you won’t know if a mouse feels worse compared to when it was first put in use, mine tend to always feels loose after a while scroll wheel wise
Idk if i ever gonna find a new mouse that feels good in my hand
also i'm unsure how warranties work with refurbs
idk i have always had stellar luck with my refurbs and 2ndhand units personally, survivorship bias notwithstanding
Depends on where you are, but buying 2nd hand where I live warranty just transfers to the new owner, if a company refurbished it, it’s 1 year (again, where I live)
eh, i'd rather just buy first hand. the price is already very low for a mouse of such high quality so i don't mind
Same here, for mouses that is
(looking at YOU gpx2)
Overpriced shit mouse aka gpx2
logitech g "pro" x "superlight" "2"
👀
i'm happy FOR you i got my g309 lightspeed before i knew anything about gaming mice. lesson learned: do ya research
u hating without owning one 😭
But luckily i can test it in our MediaMarkt soo i voted against it
g309 lightspeed is a literal brick (86 grams) with a bad shape. but the latency is fine
but it's being sold rn for $90
never tried so no comment
???????
Funny but i can buy a brand new g309 lightspeed for 120$
oh right
$50 is still too much imo
havent tried it so no comment on that
new pulsar mouse
ts ugly asf
woke🫵🏻
well its not another minor EC variation so thats something
i dont totally hate it
seems like pulsars new strategy is making esport pro shapes
All of this comes w screws right🧍
that’s a new one
yes, of course they do
I’m jus making sure bc I had a company send me 0 screws
There are even spares should you lose one
All you need to bring yourself is a Philips PH1 screwdriver.
i have a Philips TV, would that work
yes
I'll just give it a bash with my old shaver, about all it's good for anyway

EE are finally enabling phone calls over 5G connections. No more connecting to 4G in the background. Although not all areas currently support 5G standalone.
Good old UK infrastructure
I didn't even know you could call over 4/5g
Voice over LTE and Voice over Wi-Fi are peak
WiFi I knew about
These indoor 5G speeds though
I've hit 400 on EE
I’ve gotten faster speeds outside at work
Using Lyca
And even inside at home in a non-5GSA areas I’ve managed 300/15
bufferbloat maxing
You guys have 5g?
AND SIGNAL
Meanwhile my ass sitting at 1 bar of LTE

Infrastructure moment
Canadian problems
anyone is waiting for this? https://rog.asus.com/monitors/27-to-31-5-inches/rog-strix-oled-xg27aqdpg/
or similar models
im looking for my first oled
Nope
i mean qdoled
I don’t like oled monitors because I use it also to work and reading too much in oled is tiring. Letters are not super sharp.
I have oled tv for single player games though
is bad for productive work?
For me it is tiring, it depends on you. I read a lot and code and can’t stand oled for long periods of time
First gen qdoled was rough for text for example
For gaming is amazing, but I need something I can use to both work and game so I have IPS
i currently have pg278qm ips, only had good experience, almost no bleeding. but everyone saying qdoled is such a big upgrade
i thinking to have 3 monitor setup
Can confirm
I love my IPS
But HDR is shit
HDR is shit can confirm as well
ips dont have real HDR
woled good
LG WOLED supremacy
The panel finish is independent from the tech beneath it
So it could be anything :p
ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACDNG Monitor hmm i could get this for 720€
c2 is the goat
Too bad there’s no 42” G5
Could get 165 Hz instead of 120 Hz
I’d love a 77” G5 for the living room though. That and a 7.1.4 surround setup for maximum home theatre enjoyment.
Comparing the Switch 2 to the PS4 is dumb solely because it’s a decade newer hardware.
ayy, series S going to be better supported if that's what it means
Doesn’t matter what it’s closer to since it’s so different in power and architecture
also lmao no it’s not close to the current consoles
Such a great game, really enjoyed it!
WiFi Calling still has roaming charges. At least with my provider. Seems a little stupid IMHO.
If I’m connecting to EE’s network over hotel WiFi, why is there a roaming charge? They’re not utilising another providers cellular network.

Thats why nobody uses normal calling and just calls in discord, signal WhatsApp or whatever
I only get normal calls from like the couriers and food delivery when they arrive 🤣 here most of the people use telegram and call there
All the government shit is email, same with stuff like banks, services, etc
What?
Why? Here we only pay for first minute and the rest is free
chat how tf you even check if I have hdcp 2.2 for my monitor
Cuz I checked using edge://gpu it said it's supported but when I open Apple TV+ it still play in lower resolution
Well it being there and the services recognizing it are different
If your gpu or cable have issues it can get detected but not work etc.
Huh
Bad cables often cause this but there are also known bugs in some software so uhh good luck
I have zero idea why it’s the case
HDCP is on in adrenalin
Turn off WiFi Calling or you will be charged international rates if you make calls over WiFi while abroad. WiFi Calling is only supported in the UK.
how do you call your grandma
Spirit phone I guess
Ouija board
I can’t call them
Wait nvm I make it work
I just turn off and turn on hdcp on both of my screen in adrenalin and reset Apple TV+ app
It works now
I think it's just the driver being wonky or something
I see the OLED discussion happened here so as of right now which is better QD or WOLED?
Wait I wanna know too
Tho I'm using a qd rn
As with everything, it depends
Neither are better, it’s a matter of look at the monitor not the tech it uses to achieve it
Which one is better for text viewing rn
Depends, resolution/screensize matter more usually then for some people then it depends which generation tech since they differ in what layout they have
When I'm using my 27' 1440p qd oled I find the pink green text fringing pretty noticable, but I don't really have a woled to compare to
If you haven't, you might want to go through the cleartpe calibration
The hdcp thing is still wonky bruh, I went to do something else and hdcp ain't working again. Had to restart my PC and toggle the hdcp on and off again
Apparently the Ubuntu Snap Store cannot update itself because snaps can't update the app if it's currently running
🤦♀️
lol, lmao even
So you need to run the command on a terminal to kill the Snap Store and update it
Because I like my software outdated
Why is Ubuntu just a small core repo of a few thousand packages with all end user software in a Flatpak?
Why isn't that just all desktop Linux actually
Cause my friend installed Ubuntu cause that's the only distro she heard about and wanted to try Linux
But now she can't run updates cause the snap store keeps showing an error about not being able to update itself because the Snap Store process is running
Yeh ...
Imma swap her over to Fedora
All software in Flatpak?
That's a grim future
better than the what it is rn which is mostly appimages
And all Ubuntu is Snap is a grim future for Ubuntu
The want to even package the gnome desktop session itself as snap
linux on desktop is doomed honestly
Your entire desktop will be snap
Why is this a problem?
Flatpak is better than AppImage imo
i would much prefer a flatpak OS over a snap one
yeah
ive been wanting to try an immutable distro but havent really found the time for it
Mostly permissions
Sure, keep bigger software in Flatpaks, I don't care
But core packages keep in package manager
because im sure as hell not going to daily drive it
^
Bazzite is the only immutable distro I can handle daily driving
Mostly cause I can install regular RPM packages as an overlay with rpm-ostree
objectively correct take but also no
That's what I said though? You keep a small, focused core repository of the stuff that actually makes a desktop platform work (drivers, GNOME etc) and then stick all end user software into Flatpaks.
^ this changes meaning a lot depending on what you consider "core"
Yes
But canonical want to install the desktop itself as a snap .-.
the only linux install i use and maintain to test stuff on is arch
Arch is neat
But I don't trust it's long term stability
I don't trust the long term stability of any linux distro, but at least Arch i know how to fix
also that yeah
Fedora has been great for me across versions
Went from 39 - 40, 40 - 41 and 41 - 42 without issues
On that note, why isn't Ubuntu just a rolling release for the non-LTS desktop stuff?
Or anything really
Most major products like GNOME etc update once or twice a year anyway
Ladies and gentlemen
We have achieved
Peak
and so does ubuntu
but here i am, still running pop os stable
based on ubuntu 22.04
Pop OS good
i dont know man.. ive been promised an update for over 2 years now :p
and 24.04 is beta
yes, eventually good, but really standing still for everone else. as with every rewrite
anyway.. shouldnt complain as i didnt pay anything for it.
also time to upgrade perhaps
I need to give Fedora COSMIC a try soon
Turns out using Hollywood movies to show how good your AI is at creating near identical clips of said movies is not a great legal move.

HOLY SHIT
hmmm
I sure wonder what that AI trained on
surely its all legally obtained with the proper licenses
You know, if they're based in China, they'll prop won't get sued but at least blocked from the world wide
In any case, lmao
SURELY it’s not like OPENai said themselves if copyright is enforced AI industry would collapse
They're from San Fran
Lmao, US copyright shooting itself on AI race
again
Voice to text was ass let me type that out
So with the best results usually the training data is based on the copy righted material. By forcing copyright makes ai harder to create the goal is privitize the use of ai so Disney can only use their data to train ai models.
YES!
KILL
Although it'd be funny if I could just say to AI in 2 years "Generate me Avengers: Infinity War" and it'd make copyright-free, 99% similar version of the movie
need like 4tb of video ram though
I'll let whatever AI company worry about that
it gets to a point where AI is just reencoding the training material
"hrm can I get Avengers Endgame from your totally legally obtained training material?"
But I guess weebs like it since they get to see that Anubis thing
and roleplaying with their fav character!
I'm doing it RN

Gawdamn a lot of people sure be falling for that huh

modular is more shit to break
just have them fit on a base

Anyone here who has user experience with both claude 4 Opus, Sonnet by Anthropic and the new o3-pro by OpenAi. How do these ai products stackup against eachother i want to know if o3-pro is a better coder than opus 4 and sonnet if not is it a good architect?
just try them
if you cant figure out if its good or bad dont rely on it
I only tried sonnet, but it's solid for its instruct following when it comes to roleplaying. Idk about o3-pro but my experience on OAI model is generally subpar. For coding, I would prop recommend Gemini pro.
gemini pro is that much better than sonnet 4?
what about pricing i am willing to go 200 dollars for max 20x for claude opus 4 which can do 6 hours of autonomous coding, can google gemini do this too?
you can just check the pricing
It's a bigger model (probably) and some people I know tested it for nuances and complex scenarios and it can do it well
Not sure if it can do it but gemini iirc should be a little bit cheaper than claude opus
guess i have to try em both with a cheap plan and test them then decide to pop in more coins
i found my answer from some young indian developer testing both models side by side, opus kicks ass but is more expensive.
that is a good question probably not yet
you could just learn to code
if you did you would be testing instead of asking
my situation is a bit different, i have not coded for 5 years after a hospitalization
so i am rusty but i know how to code
well we dont know what usecases etc. so still best to evaluate yourself what works better than trust other people on it
so again why not just test
i will test them
i am tempted to setup a mcp server which connects both and let them both do the work and then commit the results of the one i like
Opus is great, but very expensive. Sonnet works well. Gemini as well
Gemini is quite a bit cheaper
They do things differently, and I've preferred Claude sonnet because it's tool use is more reliable
lets say i make a design in Figma, sonnet or gemini could make it right? so i can focus on the backend>?
Sonnet in roo and kilo can open a browser to check the result
Roo code or kilo code
now i am really starting to doubt why i am learning ECMAscript 2024 xD
typescript is next on the list of learning
when i was coding i was using ES5

hey guys. picked up the simgot supermix 4 not too long ago, and paired it with a 49 inch cable. is there anything longer then that? ideally, i'd like to wrap it towards the back of my desk to have it come from the bottom.....and in red
https://www.phoronix.com/news/PCI-Express-7.0-PCIe-7.0 PCIe 7 will be optical
Sounds like a nightmare for consumers.
What isn't nowadays
Please ensure your PCI-E socket is clean by using a piece of wetted paper
Might never reach consumer
yea by the time it would make sense to have this bandwidth in consumer devices there are a couple more versions already
yeah consumer devices arent even saturating 4.0
I mean there's no difference between 3.0 and 4.0 on 5090 either
When has that ever stopped manufacturers from capitalizing on NEU TEK
Our new AI powerhouses communicate through the power of LAZERZ
The issue is some lower end cards only using x8 lanes so then being really slow if hooked up to an older PC
lack of compatability would be an easy one
modern PCIe can already do a lot of crazy stuff
and the only thing I can think of that actually made it over quite well to consumer plattforms is bifurcation
its a feature
they needed to save 0.02 cents of copper yknow
Fun AI Fact!
Human brain has about 100B neurons
For AI to emulate that it'd need 2.7GW of energy, which is 23.65TWh per year - almost the same as the entire world energy consumption! (29.66TWh in 2023)
Meanwhile human brain needs an equivalent of only 12W to do that, so about 105kWh per year!
All that means is... that AI is a waste of energy and resources
Also - whole human body needs about 60W under full load
"Sight" including both the muscular actions of the eyeball as well as the brain's processing power, consumes roughly 15% of the calories you ingest.

yes mom i need pcie 7.0 for my rtx 6090 to function properly for sch work
overclock the human
yet some brains all calculate only bullshit
Human have right, AI don't, so it's still cheaper to use AI
actually we should just give AI all rights and none to humans -some techbro probably

Watch CEO Lisa Su, AMD executives, and industry luminaries unveil the AMD vision for Advancing Al, insights into the market landscape, and updates on our end...
AMD just dropped a 1400W GPU that claims better performance and better economics than NVIDIA — and it’s already shipping. But this launch is just the beginning: AMD now has a full-stack AI platform, a new software game, and a roadmap that stretches through 2027. In this video, we break down what’s real, what’s risky, and whether AMD can ...

interesting then
how can i activate continuous rapid trigger
you press the switch labeled “continuous rapid trigger”

there should be a Rapid Trigger tab under Keyboard config
Then, you just choose the key that you want to enable it on and toggle on the Continuous Rapid Trigger for that key.
Yeah might be a hit hard to see when you've messed up the text rendering like that
guys how do i gett the woot beside my name
Looks like you figured it out
clear type is hard
tell me about it
i run my screens in portrait so i always gotta mess with cleartype
oh ok
whats the ins key on the 60he
I don’t think one is bound by default, based on the fn layer overview found here: https://wooting.io/wooting-60he-quickstart#shortcut
hey i just got the keyboard, am i still able to play csgo with it? i have everything off right now
blud for sure
best to have everything off right? or can i still use the features?
play cs2, so nice a feeling
U can use rapid trigger and such
You just cant use snappy tappy and socd or what xd
gotcha, what about tachyon mode?
Thats just makes the keyboard “faster”
Yes
folks, which oled 1440p 360/480Hz would you recommend?
I am currently thinking on LG 27GX790A-B or MSI MAG 271QPX
ISP router with WiFi 7 but no 6 GHz support
Then it's WiFi 6
For WiFi 7 certification it is mandatory to simultaneously exchange data across 2.4, 5 and 6GHz
Brill
Except the router is certified as Wi-Fi 7
ASUS have a few lower end models with no 6 GHz channel but are otherwise certified and advertised as a Wi-Fi 7 router.
You still get the simulatenous connections on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels with any Wi-Fi 7 enabled device.
https://www.phoronix.com/news/AMD-Instinct-MI350X-MI355X Good to see that AMD goes all-in for open software
I am eyeing the same MSI 👀
But how well will consumer GPUs be supported
They recently dropped their amdgpu-pro package an said they'll focus on open-source projects exclusively
So I guess pretty well too
Yeah but will rocm continue being a pain in the ass
Only supporting the top tier consumer GPU officially and the rest being idk maybe works shrug
Supposedly "support will improve" whatever that means
I wonder if just only for RDNA4+ or for all RDNA
Rocm got plenty of updates too with 7 for consumer
Entire rdna4 is supported from day one, automated build tests are done for 3 too etc.
If we want to be specific consumer cards now have more support than nvidia gives to GeForce cards
Given that they're in the business of selling new hardware, they'll probably prioritise new hardware.

People on reddit are saying HDMI doesn't work on linux, is this still happening?
Bazzite for example, would that be an issue?
It works fine
idk i have just seen a lot of people having issues abd was wondering whats up with that
Never had any issue with HDMI to be honest
The only thing about HDMI and Linux is that 2.1 is not supported in open drivers, because HDMI Forum are assholes
Windows 99/Linux 0

2.1 only matters if you're going 8K or 4K144
For 4K60 2.0 is enough
is there still a reason to still have HDMI over DP on GPUs or not really? I think audio over DP is a thing
Yeah, DP can carry audio just like HDMI
Just be cause TVs HDMI is still popular, PC mostly moved on to DP already
and dp- hdmi cables
And if you have Nvidia GPU you don't have to worry, proprietary GPU drivers on Linux support HDMI 2.1 there
HDMI 2.2 will have more bandwidth than DP2.1
And we've getting closer to those 4K 240Hz TVs
LG are already up to 165 Hz with the G-series and 144 Hz on the C-series
Preferably do not use those
is it true AMD is starting to veer away from proprietary drivers
and could that cause more issues for HDMI on linux or nah
Not really
It's just that 2.1 is not supported, other than that there is no more issues with HDMI
Maybe they'll try to get license soon, so it will be supported for open-source drivers
But yeah, open-source was said at least the same amount of time as AI on last keynote
And on Linux open-source drivers are way better for normal users than proprietary ones anyway
Better ray-tracing support, HDR support, all that fluff...
I mostly want ultra high bandwidth for ultra high refresh rate 1440p 10 bit
🤞
Nothing you need to concern yourself with as a user really
I'm just tired of seeing those 1 or 2 pesky HDMI when I just wanna see all DP on some consumer GPUs
DP 2.1 works with 1440p280 10b, I tried
UHBR13.5 right?
Not really, amdvlk is still superior if you want raytracing (but it has also nearly always been open source)
Yup
It can handle up to 1440p360 10b
yay
I really like 1440p 360Hz
generally any refresh rate with a whole multiple of 60
upwards of 240
just a personal preference haha
10% difference between radv and amdvlk is not enough to make me swap to it
Luckily you can very easily mix and match for specific software
I like 280, because it splits nicely to 140 and 70
meh
It's not like I use raytracing anyway in the first place
Well they also just switched to having radv being the main supported thing so it’s normal not all the software work has been done already but it should be the main thing going forward
for me I like multiples of 60 because I watch a lot of 60FPS footage
and well, on other refresh rates it looks like a stuttery mess
despite me mostly gaming
G-Sync/FreeSync then
nah, i dont really like vrr
i like blur reduction far more
I'm very weird i know
it's absolutely a must have for a game like geometry dash which has been my main for 10+ years
10 years of gd is crazy
last time i played it actively was like 10y ago
on the ipod touch
Same, but for me that was more like 12 years ago xD
but since OLEDs don't really have a backlight, I will have to use a mod to integrate the CRT filter for OLEDs from blurbusters
back in the day i made a custom level that was rlly hard (at least for me)
never uploaded it cause i couldnt beat it

i tried 360Hz OLED vs 360Hz IPS strobed and I can't play GD on OLED
too blurry
it's because sample and holding is a bit annoying for me for sidescrolling
Kinda why I have been holding onto my PG27AQN with ULMB 2 for dear life
I have that issue with text. Can't use OLED cuz text is too blurry and you get tired after some time, so for work it's shit and I need to read all the time... so I use IPS on my desktop, oled on the TV.
I only tried text on PG27AQDM which was a WOLED ROG monitor, 1440p 240Hz, hated it
also tried gd, hated it
then tried QD-OLED 1440p 360Hz Alienware, was better
text was easier on the eyes for me
my only OLED display is my 3k 120Hz portable display
soo.. im creating a backup of my laptop..
and its just node_modules...
node_modules everywhere...
deleting all the node_modules before backup
hope all goes well
VRR has never been that great for me
But I suspect my monitors version is just shit
And you need free sync premium minimum
for me i just never benefiteed from it
wtf is "3k" now
that is even worse than calling WQHD "2k"
Uh... 3840x1080?
so SUWFHD?
problem is if I use VRR I have to give up ULMB 2
Also 2880x1080 seems like
bless you
until G-SYNC pulsar comes out but thats nvidia exclusive which im not okay with
2880x1800
16:10 display, but I run it at 1920x1080 because I need 120Hz
you should name odd resolutions like that instead of making stuff up
also because 16:9 over 16:10 any day
We should ban all displays with aspect ratio other than 16:9
next time, sure thing
ig actually that is WQXGA+
on laptops i agree with this
that stuff already seems outdated
nah, 16:9 is actually rarely ideally
on laptops you usually rather want something like 3:2
Its just that so much media is in 16:9 and thats usually how I read resolutions
so I jist want 16:9 because it's consistent
actually 3k is a thing and it is 2880x1620
I got extra pixels
seems kinda like it got named in retrospective when UHD got the 4k monicker handed down from actual 4k
So 1920x1080 should be 2K, not 2560x1440
1.92k
yes, that is why they don't name 2560x1440 2k
and 1920x1080 kind of got the 2k name stuck to it
A display resolution standard is a commonly used width and height dimension (display resolution) of an electronic visual display device, measured in pixels. This information is used for electronic devices such as a computer monitor. Certain combinations of width and height are standardized (e.g. by VESA) and typically given a name and an initial...
I know, but here way more often I see people referring to 1440p as 2K
yea and it is wrong every time
can't wait until UHD ultra wides become a thing
and manufacturers will do their best to not call it UWUHD
5k2k exists I mean
LG is already dodging it
wasnt it 2880p and 1440p UW dual mode or smt
wdym?
the one optimum reviewed
UWQHD is 3440x1440
lg calls their gaming stuff 5k2k
💀
5120x2160
that UW 4k
no because 4k is defined by the horizontal being 4k pixels
ah
that makes a lot more sense
I dislike being conditioned into thinking 2160p is 4k
so UHD technically is not 4k since it is 3840, but then they added the names together for marketing
close enough
hey, 4k is not just one resolution, DCI 4k is 4096x2160
resolution and aspect ratio is all we need probably
right
How I feel after reading GNOME blogs
My ideal and semi realistic monitor for the nearish future (4-5 years maybe):
- 27" QDEL display
- 2560x1440 720Hz 10 Bit
- Hopefully a connector that has 120 or 160Gbps (I hope DP 2.2) with DP 2.1 + DSC support
I would have added dual mode 5120x2880 240Hz but pixel scaling may have looked weird on 1440p mode
720Hz
Why
5k and 1440p is perfect 4:1
ye kinda low
Geometry dash + CRT shader = OP
atleast do 1000
"I can't see it so nobody can"
not a multiple of 60
and?
your eyes don't see past 24fps
also you don't need 120 or 160 Gbps for that, 100 should suffice
you eyes don't see in frames to begin with
lets wait for real dp2.1 integration first lol
32" 4K 240Hz OLED 🙏
Yeah I guess, but it's a good idea to have a connector that can laat for a longer time
240 in 2025
it's already right up against the 100Gbps hypothetical limit

you can only see in 4K
well you wouldn't need more on the monitor side
so the next connector should probably be 120Gbps or 160Gbps
just gimme vr / glasses with like 20k
damn that would be something
no, why would it
new HDMI is 96
because we have DP80
DP does not double
100Gbps is like a 25% increase over UHBR20
DP 1.4 is 32.4Gbps, while DP 2.1 UHBR20 is 80Gbps
which is not double
more than double
