so it lives and dies by the price
Well the thing with AMD and prices is, even if it's 650$, it's quite likely to eventually go down to 600 euros even after conversion
Why? 7900 GRE was 550 USD, and it was 510 euros about a year after it came to the market
599 USD? Holy shit it'll be like 550 or even lower which is quite the value
RTX 4070 TiS and such never got any major discounts, Nvidia is like hypoallergic to that shit
do they have to if people line up to buy a 2500$ fire hazard
but if this thing is like 600€ it would be a very good mid-high value card
I mean I can only imagine how much faster my rig would be with that kind of value purchase
RX 5700 is still a good card but it's generations old, and damn that's a multiple hundred percent perf increase
Would be nice to stuff that 5700 into a small rig or something
10g mouse
Optimum looking mouse
String?
Nah what about the battery free standing
cursed
then you can just set aaaa and no a
idk
i remember back when i didnt have 6 and i useed a 4to6 tunnel XD
good old hurricane electric
Sure you can
Nah because I don't know my Ip so I can't connect to open VPN
I'll probably do this
How old/bad is your device if it doesn't support dynamic DNS?
could just be a isp router
I don't see how that breaks DDNS though?
they dont know the ip becasue the dont have ddns setup. most routers from isps dont have ddns, so they need to set it up on something else
Your... your router don't need it though? Your device - The NAS is what connects to it.
That's the whole point.
Hi I am NAS, My dynamic IP is 123, please redirect STATICURL to that
No
Just never bothered
My router doesn't have many options either
that from tolkien?
Here’s how fast is RDNA4 according to AMD Yes, we have official figures. Like we told you earlier this week, AMD was planning a press briefing this week for the media. We were not invited, but we sent our best agents to gather intel, and the mission was a success. Before you look at the […]
Press slides leaked
Its a 7900xt with 4080 ray tracing
yes
interesting. edge can just be uninstalled nowadays apparently
Been a feature for a while
Yes it can!
next person who hits the recycle emoji i'll recycle myself
It does break Windows a little bit but it's worth it
how so
Well, when you press WIN key, it opens up the weird menu where half the shit is ads
no?
Any of those such as weather or website links go through Edge
I keep it installed, good to have a backup browser
All of them will error out if you uninstall edge
Is this a new layout?
What about the 10 style square layout
I just use start11
that also never had ads
Gotta hack the start menu to be usable.
Start11 my beloved
Well, I am talking about this
Half of those upper links will not open and error if you uninstall edge lel
Ah yeah the old Win10 tiles.
Yeah the tiles, that's what I'm used to
Those are gone.
we're in the future old man
windows 11
These days you just get half of your start menu forced to be recommendations. Can't remove it fully unless you apply UI hacks.
What fucking future, it's trash
Still the best OS
I just use start 11 and have the win7 start menu
Been using it since like windows 8 to keep the win7 start menu
Depending on where you look, you can find information stating that 12VHPWR/12V2x6 is only rated up to 30 cycles... so today we test two different cables with 100 insertions each and document the amp draw and wear.. then we discovered something very important!

I've been using 11 for a little bit and the only reason I don't outright despise it is cause Explorer Patcher exists
Which Microsoft LABELED AS A VIRUS
They can fuck off for all I care, 10 still feels far better than 11
I thought it had like a lifespan of 10 pulls or something
It's rated at 30, some sites say 50
but he just did it 100 times and had no issues
I had read on Reddit once that it was like 3 only lol
Yeah someone also said it was one only
Does anyone know how to get rid of this.. bar?
I actually despise it, takes up space and is completely useless

50-series GPUs no longer support 32-bit PhysX, and without hardware acceleration it falls back to the CPU, but not even a 9800X3D is powerful enough for PhysX..
Ya'll complained about the missing frame data from the 980ti bit, so i booted my old PC back up to get some fresh footage.
Nvidia Drops 32-Bit PhysX Support For The RTX 50 Series: htt...
ah you mean the tiles that always get unpinned first thing on a win10 install
You.. aren't wrong
But now I'm trying to figure out how to yeet the stupid ass ribbons from my file explorer
Completely useless and clogs the view
Annoying part is, apparently there was a way, and Microsoft removed it cause customization is not up to the consumer
seems like there still is a way
but you might need to save those keys before modifying them if you ever need/want to go back
or well apparently those dont exist on default win11 meaning you can prob just delete them to go back
ofc also means you lose tabs
Is that your PC?
Honestly that Lian Li case is fire
Wish it came with a sfx psu bracket
and was made with nicer materials
That will definitely never happen
And yeah I already tried using ExplorerPatcher to flick between different types of explorer versions, from 7 to 10, they all lose tabs which.. idk I kinda got used to?
I like how the 11 explorer looks, I just want to get rid of those stupid ass touchscreen ribbons
i got too used to tabs but also dont see it as annoying to have the toolbar
It's useless, I don't want for it to exist
Like what use does it provide? None, I've never clicked on a single one of those and will never click on any of them
AMD Nevers fails to miss an oppurtunity, its what they're good at
Meh, if they give me a value product, that's more than good enough
Crazy we still don't know pricing
the d in amd stands for disappointment
D in dashi stands for can't spell
i edited it right after tho also i blame my cat she distracted me
She's just too damn cute
Just look at her
Y'all think it'll be a bad call to get this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/405524549520?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=zfav9r_vsew&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=SCNqL5_SR_q&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
i guess my 3080 12gb looking pretty good.........
might have to listen to dashi and get 7900xtx.......
I'm still angry they launched with 10gb
I have the 10gb one
yeah and i paid for mine during the pandemic so everything was overpriced
Same
i had no choice but to get the 3080 12gb or 3060
I don't think any did
@ashen spindle
to be honest i was trying to buy a cheaper gpu like 2070 (but everything was sold out except for two gpu cards) but then all the prices for gpu for basically the same so i got 3080
Do it
I have the same psu in nico's system... ran it daily since 2014
Runs like a charm
Idk about buying a used PSU
It's a non issue
PSU, like anything else, degrades over time
Has it degraded to the point it doesn't work? Likely not
Just.. get something new
60 pounds is like 20-30 away from a brand new PSU that's just as good
Someone hasn't looked at psus in quite some time
Also this is for a budget nas
Not some... high end expensive machine
I have looked at PSUs plenty
2013 MODEL??
Just get something that's ATX 3.1, it'll be far more efficient
ATX versions mean more than 80+
You're running fairly low power system, isn't this overkill?
Used and old is used and old
I'm looking at amazon.co.uk, there's 850W ATX 3.1 80+ Gold models for less than 100 GBP
It is
Ultra Durable
Inherit the product design spirit of GIGABYTE Ultra Durable, thus introducing a variety of high-quality materials and designs. Ultra Durable combines high-quality main Japanese capacitors, enhanced thermal solution, 120mm smart hydraulic bearing (HYB) fan, and six circuit protection...
80 pounders
Cybenetics Test
ATX 3.0, still better than older standard, compatible with newer connectors
There's virtually no reason to buy a used PSU
he wants to go max efficiency apparently
He's spooked about electricity costs
Yeah no fuck shittabyte
I don't care where it comes from, all I care is how it performs
Help please im having trouble with the keycaps places lol
Get a Supermicro
80+ Titanium https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176451094624
Plenty of em
well it was your choose to go with blank keycaps
If he's spooked about that.. He buys a low power nas
I pointed that out a while ago. He just happens to have a cheap cpu and mobo and ram lying around
hm yes a good choice if you wanna use them in a non server motherboard environment
not to mention that they half rely on forced air cooling
Idk, jury rig a converter or something and it'll be a cheap solution
80+ Titanium otherwise is insanely expensive
why not just power it with telepathy? smh
just wire it into your neighbors power and efficiency is no concern
thats not how those PSUs work
most server psus just provide 12v and the motherboard does all the lifting
the only thing server psus can prob power very reliably is gpus cause they only use 12v basically
There's breakout boards that convert server PSUs for just that use https://www.parallelminer.com/product/zsx-breakout-board-16-ports-pico-24pin-atx-fan-hubs-100-gpu-mining-a-game-changer/
Still end up being cheaper than an old PSU
Reliability? Good question, seems risky
yes lets introduce random efficiency components again
molex :D
My keyboard is bugging out, none of the keys register but the lighting is still on and i click enter it changes the from the typing profile to the rapid profile and that’s all it seems it’s able to do. How do I fix this?
I’ve tried that
Unlikely to meaningfully impact efficiency
your keyboard thinks fn is being held down thats why its behaving that way
I’ve just put it in restore mode but also I can’t access windows so idk what to do after
Can’t use my keyboard to bypass this lol
I’ll try replacing the function key
use another keyboard for that
Nvidia only had talked about
5070 tis and 5090s
Not 5080s yet here we are
Tony said I said get more than I need for efficiency
Yes
Spooked is the wrong word
I just want to have it as efficient as possible.
Ive calculated potential costs but I may as well try to keep it down as much as I can.
i saw if you run it at max power
your usecase will always be shite
your system can draw up to 450w or so which means youd ideally get a 750-800w psu
but you mainly run it in idle
so you just get a 550-600w
I get what y'all are saying but the simple fact is I dont want a dumb Nas and I don't wanna spend £600 on a decent Nas that's still not as powerful
And I had hardware laying around
so just get a 550-600w psu
literally the only thing you can do is gold or platinum 80+
anything above that is money thrown out
I mainly linked this one because it's cheaper than most of the 600w ones I've found lol
then go for it
Prices are shit where for PSUs
I was asking because I've never bought a second hand PSU
if its any more modern psu it would kill itself before the components
assuming non 12v hpwr
Well unfortunately all other PSUs cost double sometimes or are even older, Im just not sure ahab
There's this but I really don't like gigabyte
What y'all thing
The GB one which is new one the other one
@cursive summit @cursive summit
Looks like the one you suggested actually
£50 via charity
Yes beautiful?
Check cybenetics
If cybenetics sign off on it, reviews don't suck on veritable sites, it's fine
Cancer research UK??
I hope that's not an actual cancer research organization running an ebay account lol
https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/ukcancerresearch/Computing/_i.html?store_cat=29855117016 but they do have some decent PC components for sale
Sure looks like.
That's.. a doozie
No different than the salvation army stores.
I don't know what that is either
Nope, no clue
Weird
I guess these are things someone/company donated and they are sold for whatever goes and proceeds go to charity
it happens
Why not just.. donate money
Because not everyone wants to and they make more money this way
because then you'd have to put the effort into selling this stuff
Items also get a second life
Sorry we had a rough year at Asus so instead of giving you 600 pounds flat we'll give you 10 PSUs to sell for 60 bucks
If I find a drawer for £80 and buy it they get £80
If I donate it'll probably be a tenner lol
I guess it's a decent give money and receive something thing
That is not a thing in my country lol, first time I've heard of this
werent you from the uk vex
Dashi.. I was never from the UK
It also allows people to help contribute in general
Middle of nowhere I guess
I've donated loads of clothes and my Grandma makes like 50 peg baskets and donated them which sells out
I might have jokingly said I'm from the UK at some point
You couldn't pay me enough money to go there though, ain't no way chief
Will that's a given
You are a furry after all
fair
i share one braincell with moumou
Half then cause cats only have one
Even though I remember jokingly saying I was from UK years ago, can't find it
i knew i wasn't that crazyt
Nah I'm pulling your leg I am from UK
now i think you're pulling my leg
"not a thing in your country" when we were talking about the uk
you're sus
First time I'm hearing of this slander
You are?
Yeah yeah, Scunthorpe
Where from
Prolly with Brexit
Not even what they said. They said seed it as little as technologically possible*
Yeah I remember the court docs, they had the torrenting app configured to seed the least amount possible
Which.. is very interesting cause that technically doesn't count as sharing

Apparently it is not just RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti, but also 5080 Exactly how widespread is the problem, NVIDIA? Yesterday, NVIDIA announced that two cards may be affected by a production “anomaly” which causes lower ROPs specs in the final configuration. NVIDIA claimed that this can result in up to 4% lower performance, […]
they really must've used AI to make the cards and it just hallucinated more ROPs

Yikes 😂
For fuck sake
This motherboard is limited to 2933mhz
Wow ok no it's just intel
Wtf intel
That only changed on b series chipsets with 12gen
guys should i upgrade my pc for thousands of dollars or buy strong rope
Braided Hdmi cable
It's a rope and jt's gold lined
And you can play nintendo switch with it
switch sux dashi
so bad they made an ugly switch DOS
you wanna buy switch dos and not even be able to play orginal switch games >>>>>>:/
frick nintendo DUDE
FRICK THEM
but will the pokemans be out on day juan

save da money dashi and play pokemmo with da nico
its zaaa free
this gato needs a smoke
okay keep cooking
I literally bought 2 switch ones because of this
oh nauur
But i sold my switch 1 to ny brother
And kept the pikachu one
But with switch 2 i'll prob just buy 2
is dashi the person who has 10 different switches for different moods
listen
me listening
Lets go pikachu/eevee edition
@ashen spindle halo is memory off package????
I got this one as well
:o
Uh window key and marvel rivals black screens 😭
dont play the game save yourself the pain
You're the perfect consumer
*perfect pokemon consumer
you have to send data out to get peers and thier info
and even if you have seeding disabled you will send out torrent info to anyone with the hash
if you add with just a hash, peers will send you the name, size, file list, block hashes and trackers
i dont think any client has the ability to disable sending that data to new peers
I need help my keybord stopped working after i update it
You're still sharing actual file data.
You can't do a zero share ratio with most trackers. They simply won't allow you to.
Huh yeah always has been why did you think it was on package?
Sheeeesh
i have a problem with wootility web
I think I'm gonna rebuild her because I'm really unhappy with the cable management lol
The whole build is unconventional because I added a HDD cage that doesn't belong there lol
(it's a Nas/server)
Please tell me it's screwed into, taped or cable tied into the bottom.
Don't let those harddrives scoot around like that.
Atta boy.
I also added rubber standoff things for vibrations
Tbh idk how anyone cable tidies in this, however I did make the huge mistake of not using motherboard standoffs to give space behind it.
Well, extra standoffs I think?
This case just isn't designed for clean cables which is no surprise because of the size.
it wont connect with my keyboard or discponnects quickly after
I stand corrected
Please make a thread over in #1019755933959733258 with more information.
Bad quality picture but I felt like sharing the latest upgrade to my build 🔥
Just don't ask to see the cables in the back 💀
Now people are gonna ask
Yeah. Don't.
Oooo, Radeon
I've been having issues with it ngl 💀. Marvel rivals keeps crashing after a few games
Second build is so clean…
Need to change to purple I think
yo a noita player
How mine looks
thats the game issue tho lol
@marsh glade
Since you said you’re sad you don’t get moderator pings I’m making sure you don’t feel left out :p

Hello anyone here know how to fix this issue?
usually its a rgb or peripheral software interferring
What gave that away??? XD
latest wootility and firmware should fix this
your pfp
Oh. DUH
:D
it is
Idk man my 2060 was running fine. I feel like it's just an AMD issue
I thought it was a pixel pea
It's a fren
Sadge. Funnily enough my friend who's on a 2600x and a 1060 doesn't experience crazhes
But the game runs at like 40fps for him 💀
It's unfortunate cos the game itself is fun af
Lanaaaa
It's happening
https://www.phoronix.com/news/libinput-3-Finger-Dragging @wheat plume
Libinput as the open-source input handling library used by the modern Linux desktop both by Wayland compositors and the X.Org Server now has support for three-finger dragging.
Laptop
Mouse gaming
Btw when is wooting making a mouse 👀
It's so ugly
I just want the One Plus 13 Mini at this point
desktop (as in daily use) linux really is just a disaster isn't it
Wouldn't know, I'm using it for 3 years now

This means lpcamm is back on the table no?
this is bizarre
Classic Apple. Release a low end model that is just as expensive as buying a last gen flagship.

16e
e stands for e-waste
Too big
Well yeah that just up to the Laptop manufacturer to use it, it’s not a different interface
I figured they were copying apple by going mop and that was why all had non upgradeable
No Point if you don’t go Ultra low power and it’s horrible for margin
That’s why lunar lake is a one off
yep but it makes it easier to design motherboards and you can get higher frequency memory
Amd wants more margin not less lol
The frequency isn’t really an issue anyway maybe latency a tiny bit
But amd ain’t going to pay for that lol
maybe the extra power is hurting them
Even apple is supposedly moving away from MoP
certainly not on the iphone
Plus I don’t think you could easily add 128gb on package lol
i mean its definetly possible
This belongs in #🐸│memes
?
The markup is astronomical and a meme
Lunar lake gets barely a benefit from it power wise so a 120w halo product wouldn’t really want that due to all the other downsides
just a demonstration of physical possibility
Don't M chips have a wide as fuck memory bus?
fair, still rude that they dont have lpcamm units yet
just demonstrating that its physically possible for mop
Yeah but that's why it 64 128 and 196. It's 1 2 and 3x size
64 is the smallest because that's how wide the bus is
Still definitely possible and beneficial massively to the GPU
Bus width and latency are the two biggest detractors from Apu GPU speed
except we have 4g lpddr already
Complain to the dram cartel
https://www.anandtech.com/show/21069/modular-lpddr-becomes-a-reality-samsung-introduces-lpcamm-memory-modules
lpcamm is 4 chips, and 128gb was planned 2 years ago
stxh uses 8 chips rn
How wide is the bus. Chips can be different widths
lpcamm is always 128b
So it's just dual channel width
correct
M1 is 512 XD
*m2
and it proves you can fit idk how many chips that is on 1 mop soc
i think its only 8 chips which is why it can only do 192 and not 256 or 384
iirc with lpddr6 it would move to 192 per stick so just have two and you have 384bit interace as possibility which would likely saturate anything you put into a laptop
maybe, but also i think it would be really beneficial to go extremely overkill on memory bandwidth, which would reduce the need for these huge caches and cores
ehhh sure more is always better but dont see it beating out bigger caches that are closer, but thats for people to decide that know about it more xD
true
and the 5090 is a counterexample to big bandwidth go brr with how relatively less faster it is
@modern sphinx
well it more shows that it depends on the usecase
for gaming not much, for some compute workloads it does a bit more
but its also a matter of cost, and if you remember how much amd did on rdna2 with the faster cache alone, I think they have the skill to make a better cheaper result from in chip changes than needing a bigger memory connection
if you look at how dense they can make caches like the z5 cache shrink etc. thats clearly a strong point
Is it worth to buy 10x or 20x 5070's for the chance to get one with less ROPs?
Then collector item tf out of that!
lmfao no

be hustling yo
Was this linked here since its 3 day old https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/foundry/process/18a.html
well its just a marketing slide, doesnt say much
Do u guys think the 5000 series cards will be good?
pretty sure people here are flamming it and saying its trash
wym will be good, they are out already
If u have a 4090 its not worth the price for a 5000 series
Get lucky with a cheap 5080
And get lucky with ropz as well
honestly i would get a 4090 if i could
sounds like going to amd is the move
but i heard the 7900xtx are sold out
I mean 9070’s are in the corner
I think I’m gunna need to buy a new 7900xt
Dont xd
Faulty gpu, just going to swap out this for my old gpu
9070 is the most expensive gpu in their line correct?
9070xt will be yes
For the time being, nvidia is like $2k for a gpu as good as 7900xt
I’m prob a little off
are reviews out for the 9070xt yet?
Nope
then we wait
reviews on the 5th
how long till anti lag 3
I have a 3070 and am happy with it fwiw
i want to upgrade but at this point im paying so much to run unoptimized unfinished games...
3060 ti is gonna have to hold out a few more years
been playing pokemmo when i need a break from the cancer (marvel rivals)
also wanna run that new doom game, idk if the 3080 will hold up (to my liking)
Im just wanna switch from my 6700 xt
As long as I can play PoE
to what akko?
3090 feeling weak 😔
9070 non-xt most likely
Or 9070 xt if prices were gonna be okayish and not stupidly high
As its gonna boost ingame performance a little bit in 1440p
who put the crying emoji 😡
this reminds me i gotta email arctic freezer support. Sometimes the aio go brrrrrr lmao
i have the same cpu without the x3d
I got lucky and get it before it was EoL
Like CPU wise im more than happy
But GPU wise not really
And im not playing at Ultra with everything on
Im playing on High graphical settings with some off/on but at 1440p
aios 🤮
copium
no tak you
dont judge me at least i didnt buy a nzxt aio just to have a cat kiss me (a buddy recently upgraded some of his parts)
does anyone know why my motherboards white dot is still on while im using my pc
I wonder how useable that thing is, it looks like scaffolding with toilet lids as sun shades that's collapsed. That is pretty wild but can't imagine it'd be comfy
its funny how its all a fad
absolutely
i mean tbf if you want to buy new gear to exploit placebo effect and play better be my guest
Is hyte y60 airflow good or bad?
placebo maxxing
heavy mouse > light
I mean
I don't think i could go lighter than my g303se
Its like 75g
Any lighter i'd hate
30g is the sweet spot for me
have you tried?
more likely that was from a bad shape than the lower weight
might take some time to get used to something new aswell
not that much reason to switch if you already have something you like though
I still fingertip my 150g mouse at work and it's so bad 🚬
I want to get a new mouse for work but I don't feel like buying one
Most mice i tried didn't click with me till the 303se
For work i use an mx master 3s
I think it's an mx performance for me
it's so ass 😭
jetcam is a mouse intensive program too
any test or study always shows lighter mice are better until it gets to a point where form makes it less comfortable for people
so ideal mouse is the lightest you can find in your prefered size
light is nice
I might've kept my superlight instead of giving it to my brother if I knew I'd be using this brick
Ya’ll does it look like I need to repaste?
if you just put it back? nah
the reason your shit was overheating is not the paste
it was the aio
Honestly screw AIOs
we explained this to you before your aio is dry and has an air bubble ._.
solution is rma
I just dont understand, pump seems to be working just fine
it has... a lack of liquid in the loop
It evaporated
Causes air bubbles
The water doesn't get to the radiator it just stays in the tube
Its why your water temp is so high
but...but
how
loop has no openings for fluid to escape
-some idiot on the web, probably
Unfortunately liquid can indeed evaporate slowly through piping. (Since someone's going to ask seriously)
xddddd
ngl the thermosiphons being put out are SO COOL
they're pumpless...AIOs
that look like oversized air coolers
no fucking way
they're making a thermosiphon CPU cooler
with an external rad and flexible tubing
it's a fucking pumpless AIO

as long as I can open it to refill fluid, no complaints from me
flex tubing 🤢
prob gonna be sealed
Sadly
they reportedly have a lifetime warranty on the cooler, so kind of a nonissue
on top of six years for fans
I haven't seen a refillable aio since like... enermax?
you try doing a custom hardline loop in an ITX chassis
I'll wait
A lifetime warranty from a niche company that has never managed to really catch on
A lifetime warranty only matters as long as the company is in business
I don't expect them to be around in a few years
i mean i paid more for my loooop than that
Their products are niche, overpriced
noctua?
Noctua caught on popularity wise tho
Noctua also really isn't "overpriced"
a bit more expensive, sure
ah
$600?
The Next Giant Leap Forward in CPU Cooling! High Performance All-copper evaporator with performance enhancements Upgraded 6-core, 360-mm condenser Designed to cool the flagship CPUs of both Intel and AMD High performance regardless of CPU die architecture (current and future) Lasting Excellence Day-1 performance all d
the $600 one is for threadripper which well....
can't read, it's 600 kanukhistani kopek
soon to be seven billion or something like that
420usd=599cad
but this pricing sucks ass
Their other products have basically just been a cool concept but never really mattered
🤷 on a $1500 computer maybe
but on a $5k computer it might make sense
especially for the quiet idle crowd
Let me drop 600$ on a cooler from a company with a very uncertain track record with a concept that's never been proven yet
super logical
is ryzen 7 9800x3d with ASRock B850 Pro RS a good combo?
yes
And a lot of companies who make custom watercooling gear struggle to keep their heads above the water
Niche markets
Same thing with this
and some dont
you do that by not trying to compete on price, and recognize you wont scale to millions and millions
some1 said asrock is not good with 9800x3d
nah asrock is a good brand these days
they prolly talking about the headlines about them cooking cpus
oh yeah with the outdated bios
i believe theres 2 cases which havent proven to be user error
https://geizhals.de/wishlists/4334041 that would be my config. Everything fine with it?
great, and I heard from the talking banana that my computer will explode
I don't believe everything I read or hear
especially when it is fanciful at best, stupid at worst
plus, worst case, you claim warranty
just ensure you update your bios and don't accidentally drop little bits of copper wire on the CPU socket
so is there anything?
thanks! yea thats why am getting more than 1 opinion
99.99% no, youll be fine
so would u agree with the config ?
I would only get an aircooler
Get rid of the aio
also the kingston NV2 is known for having issues, wouldnt risk testing the NV3 and just get a different one
They did release a firmware update
what would u pick
also it shows two cases and two boards?
yea might going with the lian li cause i heard y60 has bad airflow and the board i mentioned
Thermalright Phantom Spirit
so the ssd is fine? i also have already 500gb and 2tb hdd
so this "cheap" one is better than the "big" one?
Yes
what is a good aio i also want it lookwise
Well it won't die/dry out over time
And its just as good
The 9800x3d doesn't need an aio to cool it
but if i would choose the corsair it gets the job done ? its just more expensive?
Hey guys. I need a bit of help.
I just finished a build and I'm having a slight issue.
Right now the issue I'm having is with my Ram. Can't get it to run at the advertised speed (6400mhz). Turned on the XMP profile, even the Memory XMP file and the system wont' recognize it as stable. I tried a bunch of lower DRAM timings, it won't accept any of them. Their properly seated, both are in their proper DIMM Module Channel slots. The board can handle up to 7800Mhz. I'm stumped.
what cpu
Is your bios updated
It's a new motherboard as well. So. I'll be honest. I don't know. Do new motherboards come already up to date? or is that something I have to do when I first get it?
did it work with having the ram stock?
They're not up to dare
Yeah. I'm on it right now as we are talking to each other. The ram Stock is fine, but, it's only @4800mhz. Which is why I wanted to get it to it's advertised 6400mhz.
well this late in the cycle its still on a newer date if its a new board that is needed
Also technically intel spec is 5600 guaranteed
Yeah. Couldn't even get it to run 5600 on G2 or G4.
could do an update but unlikely that it works, more likely is that either the ram or the cpu are unlucky and dont work with higher speeds
Can you run one stick at 5600?
XMP and board speeds are only numbers that mean the ram can do it and the board can do it, doesnt mean it works in every combination of ram/cpu/board
Good question. I haven't tried.
Start by updating your bios
May be a shitty launch bios
- with 14 gen its important because of all the instability issues
Couldn't hurt. Do I need to update via USB stick? I'm new to the idea of updating my Bios. That's something I don't usually tamper with.
usb, look it up on your mobo's manufacturer's website for instructions
Yeah. As I said it. I already started doing that. Watching a YT vid from my Manufacturer's website on it.
which one them would be the best option for 9800x3d?
the cheapest one that has all the ports you need
boards only matter for overclocking or usb ports and such
i saw some asrock mainboard porblems on reddit with the 9800x3d
but i guess that goes with every board
works perfectly fine on mine and yeah, there will always be issues with anything
okay, that made me curious
and in generall which would u prefer
still the cheapest?
yeah I just look what has the usb/pcie slots I need, sort it by price and take the cheapest lol
well, after I check if that specific one has known issue or not
which one do u have?
b650e pg riptide wifi
thx
This is awkward
I thought you could access your drive data via truenas GUI and so I was going to transfer from my backup HDD to the truenas HDD which I can't do.
I have no way of mounting the second HDD on another device right now ;-;

When I have to upgrade I may go full AMD
So apparently I should not have used an overkill SSD for TrueNas os drive
Why not? Just that you can't use it for anything
Exactly
I'm just going to use a 128gb SSD instead xd
I used my 256gb from a while back that I was using as an external SSD
Good job I didn't get a 1tb nvme lol
i mean nothing 256gb is gonna be that great?
and you dont wanna use something thatll die
it is infuriatingly common on cheapo drives
Both are SanDisk
If they gonna die both are the same brand
sandisk has some insanely nice units, and some incredibly awful units
WD/sandisk going through reorganization atm
hopefully quality will be better once that whole thing is done
Well ye but my point being both are the same type so chances don't exactly differ a lot
With me using the 128gb instead of 256gb which I'm currently using
eh, 128g units usually are using bottom of the barrel nand chips, sometimes not even using chips from one of the major vendors
get a 128 gb slc ssd
not easy lel

Ye I couldn't really find 128gb SSDs hahaha
Might just get another 256gb when one comes along on offer and mirror as a backup.
i mean how much would it cost you if your truenas went down
if it costs you nothing even if it goes down for a week while you rebuild, whatever, you do you
I will still probably upgrade my M2 drive in my own desktop and move my 1tb one to my server so I have some fast storage for applications
It would suck
Wouldn't kill me
But you've already convinced me
I'll probably just buy another SanDisk when on offer and use it as the new external
i wouldnt even notice if mine went down for a week tbh, but if my computer failed somehow and i needed to do a backup, id be in for a world of hurt
oh dear, it might be down rn 😱
Probably also going to buy a 2.5gb pcie
Gonna be transferring a lot of data the next few days over the network ahaha
And I wanted 2.5gb from the start
join the dark side, get 40g

im only barely joking, 40g is about the same price as 2.5g for a pcie card as long as you are only going direct
I have a sandisk ultra 2 from like... 2013 or 2014 in my rig
Still runs like a charm
only 40g? weak
hopefully AMD can sniff at how much Nvidia makes from networking
that certainly is a decision, from the review
"SanDisk took the stage and unveiled their Ultra II, the company's first TLC SSD and the first TLC SSD that is not by Samsung."
Oldest ssd i have in my system lol
also $400 for 1tb seems actually pretty cheap for 10 years ago
Ran my os on it for years and eventually switched it to a game drive
It was cheap for 1tb back then
Its why i bought it
now for these prices you get 8x? the capacity but thats certainly less than how i experienced it
guess ive got alot more money than i did 10 years ago
Idk
£21

that worked
why is the gui not making said user
ngl idk how i feel about this
feels kinda borked and insecure
most isps block it here anyway

now its working in the webui
just made a new user just fine

ye so it sonly happening when im writing to the nas
grabbing data from it 2gb+
why cant it just work like synology xd
im so confused though.... so many comments saying an ssd with better cache is needed.
figured it out
it was sync

fucking lol there is no 5070 ti FE
how to update
nvidia probably made 3 like they did for the 1060 lel
hey i found a P106-100 that cost 18$ is it good?
there was an issue with the latest bios causing some cpus not to post but they released a new bios to fix it
so its a nothingburger now
which welp if people didn't update their bios it didn't affect them
i dont get why people update their bioses for no reason... only reason to update it is if a feature you need releases or when you first build the rig
It's seen as a good idea to keep on top of all the updates for security and stability.
People expect manufacturers to do their F'ing job and test shit before releasing it the public
as i said do it if something that matters to you
release notes exist for a reason
Example, this is completely useless for me as my current ram kit works and is stable... and yoi can't oc a 7800x3d
Why would i update
amd doesnt publish agesa changelogs, and they often have huge piles of minor changes, and amd still doesnt have the platform stability of intel
me who is still having am4 usb issues kept updating in the hopes that an update would fix it (i gave up about a year ago)
Yeah, my AMD system crashes if it goes to sleep
Hibernation is fine, but if the PC sleeps then it's gonna crash a minute after resuming
Amd cpu, gpu or both
Also i don't have that issue, 7800x3d + 7900xtx
"works on my machine" lol
But if nothing is broken why attempt to "fix" it
Why do you think im asking questions about what he's running
just because amd isnt publicize what is broken doesnt mean it isnt worth fixing
specs?
If whatever issues there are aren't noticeable then... who cares
I don't seem to have sleep issues with the 9800X3D
or any so far but maybe it's too soon lol
because a 1/100000 issue is 100% guaranteed when you have millions and millions of users
If i encounter an issue i'll test it when i get there in my troubleshooting process
and when you make buggy software, issues compound
You could encounter that by updating in the first place
Argument makes little sense
however if you are on the latest stable version, you are on the same platform the developers tested with
the more unique your system is, the greater the chance for errors
As i said if you encounter a problem and a fix exists then update when you troubleshoot since it will be well a solution
A simple one
sure, and if you are constantly running into issues, you best keep updating when the fixes release
but i'm not running into issues constantly
So tberefore it's a waste of time unless i have an issue
lucky you
i go slep now
Goodnight
have a picture of a sleeping totodile plush
i need it in my life
NIght night
Update to latest version it's stable on and ignore the rest
the people who update to beta bioses are just... odd
Unless you have a super niche issue
WHY
Beta UEFI? Heck no
I wanna use my PC
same
last thing i want is not to post and have to clear my cmos
my mobo doesn't have a fancy clear cmos button sadly
same reason you said earlier, they only really throw out those beta bioses if theres a serious issue with a quick fix they dont have time to test
9800x3d, 7900xtx
Ironically started after a bios update, figured I would update a while later hoping for more stability
As above
TrueNas makes me miss Synology DSM
Genuinely
Perfect example of open source not always being the answer.
Honesty, I used to be the same haha
Still am mostly
But I always liked separating my server to my NAS if you get me? I've always had my server remote (Debian) and Nas local.
I was kinda hoping TrueNas would be a good in-between but one thing that's really bummed me out is the fact you can't manage data within the GUI.
That alone has irritated me and the permissions system.
nobody pretends like it's the answer, in fact everyone agrees that FOSS is always a UX-nightmare because it's coded by basement-dwellers who have never seen a graphical UI before
I'll make it work
It's just frustrating af.... For example I wanted to add to my Plex folder but couldn't because apps had exclusive permissions, whenever I tried to add anything else it freaked out.
It's so fucking annoying
Oh and when I reboot the docker instance it just rewrites perms, why can't my user just bypass this altogether? It should have read/write on everything
TrueNAS is piss easy
We Told you
Fucking hell even what I just said is jank
Is it bollocks
I mean it's not hard, it's just tedious.
Literally how 😄
All this just so I can access my apps folders
I am by far the least Linux capable idiot in these parts, and it took me all of five minutes to set up Plex and SMB for Windows to push files to it.
I ain't giving up, my point still stands.
when you are fed up, you can send it to me for free and you can buy a synology
For anything remotely close to what I wanted it would have cost me £550-600
just steal one
Go away
RTFM 😄
its either RTFM or pay for a synology if you really want the hand holding and usability stuff
Well ye I am but it's stupid how many hoops are needed.
Such as? For what? 😄
Pleasant is reaching that age where you just want stuff to work
I can't just create a datasheet for Plex and access it via smb with my user.

This just isn't true
Ish
The duck is a datasheet?
complains about stuff not just working
says its not true they just want stuff working
I love the challenge, I just hate when shit is stupid.
the true dichotomy of getting old
Dataset
i think truenas is quite more competent than synology and co
Sorry haha
its just not built for the laymans web editing
I do mostly like it, I just find some things so stupid.
Everything is better than QNAP piece of shit and their "webOS"
Still no idea what that is. But I've had zero issues getting into the Plex folder within its docker container, or set up SMB and point Plex to my folders for content.
Are you sure you're using TrueNas
Quite.
Are you sure you're quite sure
My Nas is a synology Nas. For docker stuffs I have a home server laptop
Quite quite.
So when you create an smb share how are you changing the permissions to not break it? I tried adding myself to the permissions but it just freaks out.
I don't? The permissions were fine out of box.
Weird
I'll give it another go later, hopefully it's something I did wrong.
But essentially what I did was create the Plex dataset, setup Plex then create an smb share to access it, however my user wouldn't be allowed.
Honestly the only issues I've had with my setup is needing to rename filenames to have subtitles match up to the correct videos, and sort things properly into seasons where appropriate. Lot of busy work.
So I had to add it but then the permissions kept spitting out errors.
Jellyfin
So I made myself the owner temp to add a file and then rebooted the docker container which just re applied it's perms
Screw jellyfin
It's not as good and no one will convince me it is
