I just finished a build and I'm having a slight issue.

Right now the issue I'm having is with my Ram. Can't get it to run at the advertised speed (6400mhz). Turned on the XMP profile, even the Memory XMP file and the system wont' recognize it as stable. I tried a bunch of lower DRAM timings, it won't accept any of them. Their properly seated, both are in their proper DIMM Module Channel slots. The board can handle up to 7800Mhz. I'm stumped.

But I always liked separating my server to my NAS if you get me? I've always had my server remote (Debian) and Nas local.

I was kinda hoping TrueNas would be a good in-between but one thing that's really bummed me out is the fact you can't manage data within the GUI.

That alone has irritated me and the permissions system.

It's just frustrating af.... For example I wanted to add to my Plex folder but couldn't because apps had exclusive permissions, whenever I tried to add anything else it freaked out.

It's so fucking annoying

Oh and when I reboot the docker instance it just rewrites perms, why can't my user just bypass this altogether? It should have read/write on everything

I am by far the least Linux capable idiot in these parts, and it took me all of five minutes to set up Plex and SMB for Windows to push files to it.

Still no idea what that is. But I've had zero issues getting into the Plex folder within its docker container, or set up SMB and point Plex to my folders for content.

So when you create an smb share how are you changing the permissions to not break it? I tried adding myself to the permissions but it just freaks out.

I'll give it another go later, hopefully it's something I did wrong.

But essentially what I did was create the Plex dataset, setup Plex then create an smb share to access it, however my user wouldn't be allowed.

Honestly the only issues I've had with my setup is needing to rename filenames to have subtitles match up to the correct videos, and sort things properly into seasons where appropriate. Lot of busy work.
