I need to eat this

cursive summit

Displays are prolly the only normal market where the best stuff is priced consistently at a specific price, and then gets 50% cheaper over next 2 years

#

Unlike.. GPUs havo

steady sail
#

i would just get an IPS panel instead LOL

cursive summit
#

First OLEDs were like a grand, now you can have them for like 500$

hoary jackal
#

R u mentally ok

unkempt lake
#

Everyone should get a 32:9 super ultrawide

cursive summit

Hell some peep shared QD-OLED for 500 which is kinda nuts

Once u go OLED u can never go back

Let's say I wanted to do streaming, I could ofc use a separate laptop or something, but what do you think would be the best choice for that?

They sell by far the cheapest ones, yet their marketing is god tier trash

I'm guessing some newer type of VA that's like.. better maybe?

#

Why's there a QD-OLED for 400$

#

Did display prices just nosedive or some shit

deft raptor

I am checking rtings right now

I'm guessing it has bleeding issues lol

Anyways @tight dragon, this is perfectly affordable I think https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG276QZD2-Tournament-2560x1440-Compatible/dp/B0D682HF6R

Since you are spending less on a GPU

It seems to be a gen 3 qd-oled which is pretty good

tight dragon

I actually saw this earlier on amazon but passed it by mistake

hoary jackal

Yeah for that price even I might buy an OLED lol

Look up QD-OLED prices, they are really expensive for a reason

Can someone recommend cheap 4:3 monitors to be used as 2nd and 3rd monitors?

cursive summit
#

Peeps seem in support for True Black 400 over HDR1000 lol, that's rare

hoary jackal
cursive summit
#

Something something better standard

charred nexus
#

It doesn’t mean jack shit on a oled

cursive summit
#

Huh, isn't HDR[number] the amount of dimming zones?

charred nexus
#

Cuz a small dot on the screen can get to 1000 nits doesn’t mean shit

cursive summit
#

I am perfectly aware that OLED has basically an unlimited number of dimming zones lol, each pixel is either on or off

#

Thought for OLED you want the HDR10+ standard cause that's what actually matters on an OLED

charred nexus
cursive summit
#

Heh, I thought it was dimming zones

deft raptor
#

Good info to know

#

My monitor supports HDR1000

cursive summit
#

Mine's that fake HDR shit that everyone hates

charred nexus
#

It’s mainly for LCD monitors as how bright the backlight (dimming zone) can get is important

cursive summit
#

I mean, I am happy with a 350cd display so I imagine HDR400 TrueBlack is prolly perfect on a QD-OLED if you don't use it above 400cds?

#

Why tf is that display so cheap then havo

charred nexus
#

True black or whatever is more important on OLED cuz it means how bright it can get on 10% of the screen

cursive summit
#

Imagine if it also was HDR10+ certified pepe_sweat

charred nexus
#

As OLED can’t have full screen 1000nits or at least not for monitor of this size afaik

cursive summit
#

Lol minileds have fallen in price even more

#

Cheapest is now 300 euros flat, down from 500 last time I checked months ago

#

I'm good with my main display which is NanoIPS, but if I ever replace my quite aged secondary Samsung, it'll prolly be with a miniled

gusty kiln
#

miniled version of 4K240hz/1080p480hz would be end game for me

cursive summit

Still waiting for microled

gusty kiln

cursive summit
#

1440p240 is all I really care about

#

At 27" as well

tight dragon
#

@cursive summitHey, my friend told me that x870 motherboard is better than the B series, specifically one in the price range, ASROCK makes good boards.
And with my GPU that I'm going for I should look for something more like 1000w 80+gold or higher and not worry about power draws.

gusty kiln
deft raptor
cursive summit
#

X870 is better but you don't need it

tight dragon
#

Are you sure though?

deft raptor
#

Objection!

#

In case you want use this word

cursive summit
#

ASRock I've had two products from, a GPU and a mobo, and they were both shit

#

And you don't need more than 850W on that rig, anything more is just futureproofing

gusty kiln
#

X870 is the same as B650E

#

don't overspend on X870

cursive summit
#

And yeah X870 is now X870E

gusty kiln
#

go for X870E if you want to drop the dough

cursive summit
#

X870 non-E is like a B650

deft raptor
#

Fun fact, there's a Asrock B650 where they managed to put pcie 5.0x16 instead pcie4 for one model

cursive summit
tight dragon
gusty kiln
#

higher end parts usually last longer

steady sail
#

yeah i woke up at 4:50 am havo

cursive summit
steady sail
#

im tiered

cursive summit
#

Very tiered

gusty kiln
#

I would go 1 step below the TOTL if you want a good system to last for at least a couple gens

cursive summit
#

Buying an X870 over B650 will definitely not give you more longevity, that's not likely

sharp badger
#

I'd buy X870 or X870E only for the white gigabyte one lol

gusty kiln
#

well yeah

cursive summit
#

Getting a, let's say 1000W PSU over a 850W of equivalent specifications will only come relevant in the future

deft raptor
#

1000W might make sense on a threadripper cpu

cursive summit
#

They are getting an X3D, so it doesn't make sense imo

#

I mean PSU is an innocuous place to upgrade I guess as long as you get the right things

tight dragon
#

I'm still thinking it over, I want to be certain

cursive summit
#

It shouldn't have below 80+ Gold, it should be at least ATX 3.0 compatible, look at reviews to see if any areas were skimped like overcurrent protection

deft raptor
#

Btw, I don't know if the 9950x3d really did best all other cpus in benchmarks of factorio

cursive summit
#

Some PSUs have insane coil whine

#

That 2023 Corsair is for all intents and purposes just fine for that build they're getting

steady sail
#

850w more then enough

cursive summit
#

1000W I imagine will only come relevant in the future when Nvidia makes a GPU that pulls 600W havo

#

Oh wait, that's literally next gen

deft raptor
#

Hah, as if, amd is focusing on making efficient cpus

cursive summit
#

On CPUs? Yes

#

GPUs sadly I wish they were

#

Nvidia has efficiency leadership and it pisses me off

steady sail
#

i mean they are greate overall xd

deft raptor
#

Yeah, I haven't claimed about gpu because I don't have an idea what they are in the future

tight dragon
#

If I get a 850W, will I have to worry about power draws?

cursive summit
#

Not really

#

850W will be enough even for peak spikes

tight dragon
#

Sometimes I may be on the PC for like a full day, so idk how much power that can drain

cursive summit
#

And also 850W are apparently enough to even support RTX 5090 whatever that will be havo

#

850W for nowadays is literally the perfect area

cursive summit
tight dragon
#

Alright

cursive summit
#

Like, what exactly are you worried about, how much power in general the whole PC will sip?

#

Or how much total power will the rig sip so the PSU doesn't blow?

#

You don't need to worry about total power, 850W is perfect even for spikes

distant tapir
#

I really want a fanless PSU but my gosh they are expensive.

tight dragon
#

I simply just don't want to worry about any setbacks in the future, gotta be careful about this stuff. This has been stressing me out all week too.

cursive summit
#

Just buy GPUs, as Jensen says

#

Don't worry about it

analog sinew
cursive summit
#

Considering it was deleted I doubt it?

#

Also those are prolly listed by manufacturers

steady sail
#

and im just gonna wait till amd's next gen gpu's YEP

cursive summit
#

I think we are entering the stage where low end will be Intel GPUs, mid-end a mix of AMD and Nvidia and high end just Nvidia

steady sail
#

im fine but im struggleing at 1440p havo

tight dragon
analog sinew
#

you can always wait in the pc space

cursive summit
#

The problem with that is obvious, Intel has like maybe 1 or 2 generations of GPUs imo before they get axed yet again

analog sinew
#

you need to know for yourself when to buy

#

because there is always new shiny toys on the horizon

steady sail
cursive summit
#

Pat Gelsinger is already yapping how he wants to axe unimportant projects like GPUs

smoky frigate
#

eh gpus age like milk anyways

steady sail
#

i mean if battlemage gonna be somewhat great

cursive summit
#

They only managed to launch Alchemist and Battlemage ain't a thing yet and the idiot is already yapping about axing GPU division

analog sinew
#

i have more faith in intel gpus than cpus at this point

steady sail
#

atleast intel can win something KEKL

cursive summit
#

Like, why the fuck would Intel invest many tens of billions into GPUs

#

To then just make a major loss selling them and axe the whole thing

analog sinew
#

arrow lake was such a nothing burger for the diy space

smoky frigate
tight dragon
#

Intel is terrible at gaming

cursive summit
#

It's an investment ffs, Intel stick to it

tight dragon
#

Expect crashes

analog sinew
cursive summit
#

Yeah but that's imbecilic behavior lol

#

If Intel sticks to it, they can cost optimize and actually do something

tight dragon
#

Maybe

cursive summit
#

They have a good amount of patents to actually achieve something

smoky frigate
#

well imagine a dozen people can decide on it and it's not their money they're wasting

cursive summit
#

Especially in shit like video rendering

tight dragon
#

You can't upgrade any further tho, and the current latest version sucks unless you only do stuff for productivity

cursive summit
#

Intel has like, a lot of potential for video encode and decode and leadership there

#

AMD is just doing raster nowadays

#

And Nvidia "AI" stuff

steady sail
#

did even intel released the fix for the gaming performance ?

analog sinew
#

have 3 gpus in your pc, one for raster, one for ai shit, one for decode

#

the trinity build

tight dragon
#

Strictly for gaming

cursive summit
smoky frigate
#

software decoding is just TOO SLOW

deft raptor
steady sail
#

its lack of optimalization

deft raptor
#

Ahhhh, I see.

cursive summit
#

I think Intel can prolly do really well in some areas just cause their whole GPU design is honestly fresh and new

#

A lot of stuff from AMD is just old

deft raptor
#

the encode gpu, my gpu can do av1

cursive summit
#

Idk I kinda want to see Battlemage and then get Celestial at some point, instead of them just axing the whole project

steady sail
#

like i played crysis 3 remastered with RT and i had a good enough FPS

tight dragon
#

Even if AMD is old, you know they have the best performance at a low budget which is insane

deft raptor
#

both

#

7000 series supports hardware encoding

#

:)

tight dragon
#

AMD is for budget but also saves you room for upgrading, intel not so much

deft raptor
#

Btw, discord cannot play videos with av1 encoding for video stream

distant tapir

Cannot really call current Razer one thing or the other but 2010's they had some really big hardware quality issues.

tight dragon

What about the software that's bad??

Everything??

I have yet to also have a Razer mouse that lasted more than 2 years lol, they all start to break in some manner

There's no arguments to be made on the obvious

software is pretty shit but the mouse itself I have no complaints about, after using it for.. nearly 2 years now

Just saying everything does not do any good job of explaining why the software is bad.

I had like 3 razers, they all are misbehaving after 2 years in some way

I only know 2010's razer and there most people I know had razer hardware fail early.

What if you don't use the software?

cursive summit

My Abyssus broke its middle scroll click, Basilisk stopped working completely, and my Viper Ultimate is constantly double clicking

thick elk

back in 2010's they had no onboard memory so you basically had to, but that improved nowadays luckily.

I got this OP1 now and it's honestly just a far better mouse than any Razer I've ever had

#

Not to mention, not shit software lol, Wooting inspired

double clicking is a result of lower voltages and pushing debounce times to thee limit on modern mice.

Not really most of the time, switches are build to last much longer but won't if you lower voltages and leave less room for error in terms of debounce time.
Granted they support that, but the same switches placed on some old mouse will last much longer until they physically deform.

Got to have that good battery life lightweight cheap mouse that also has fast response times.

it doesnt happen with the other keys where i have same actuation point

#

What I learned from this chapter is that you take the error, do a derivative and some other math on every neuron in the output layer, then do some very similar math on the next layer and repeat until you get to the first hidden layer. Then you take all of the deltas you just found, multiply them by a "training rate" (like 0.01 or lower), add the results to the weights and go to the next sample. Eventually you'll hypothetically create a network that can do what you want without much error.

#

It also hinted at some errors in this process, probably to get you hooked into reading so you don't put the book down.
