same, having that shit on your packaging is big cringe to me
even worse, the moondrop TWS ones talk to you
This would only make sense if digital didn't already capture all the information within audible band. You can't get more detail than that, that would mean capture things that don't exist.
Digital is always better than analogue. Or well, more accurate (= higher fidelity). Whether master tape, vinyl, whatever.
oh, fair
would not agree on the last part necessarily, analogue tech allows you for a few more options and you can get "distortion free" changes that would be basically impossible to recreate digitally
but that basically does not matter to "normal" people including enthusiasts
vinyl is also very far from perfect and there is a reason that enthusiasts preferred multiple different analogue and digital formats over the years
if you get vinyl for "higher quality" sound you are doing something wrong
I can understand liking how vinyl sounds (even though I don't). It's completely valid. But it is 100% lower fidelity than CD.
jack noooo
CD sinad was ~93 db iirc?

meanwhile people say that your equipment should at least hit 110
When people try to perfect vinyl set ups they are basically just trying to compete with CD only to fail.
Steve is now canonically a fat neckbeard. What a time to be alive.
I mean if you see them adding tube amps to it you know they wanna go somewhere else
16 bit? 16 bit has a theoretical dynamic range of 96 dB (which is extremely high).
ah, 96
People can only hear diffs between 16 and 24 bit if playing an audio track where nothing is happening and then turning the amplifier waaaay the fuck up to maybe hear a noise floor.
basically
Since that isn't a reasonable scenario I convert any 24 bit files I may have down to 16 to save space with zero audio quality loss.
now gl hitting even that with some music
But 120MB flacs
I don't think there's a dac in existence that can even resolve 24 bits of dynamic range.
there probably is
but I would love to see the difference after playinng it through a headphone
I think Topping D90 can get to 22 bits?
Okay nvm.
Almost 21.
That's extremely good. But still not 24 bits.
yea
now go on an listen to a bootleg version of hte grey album
cause very copy out there, be it fully digital or not is bootleg
or you get artists producing entirely in garage band
Consumer analog cassette tapes have a dynamic range of 60 to 70 dB. Analog FM broadcasts rarely have a dynamic range exceeding 50 dB.[4] The dynamic range of a direct-cut vinyl record may surpass 70 dB. Analog studio master tapes can have a dynamic range of up to 77 dB.[5] An LP made out of perfect diamond has an atomic feature size of about 0.5 nanometer, which, with a groove size of 8 micron, yields a theoretical dynamic range of 110 dB. An LP made out of perfect vinyl LP would have a theoretical dynamic range of 70 dB.[6] Measurements indicate maximum actual performance in the 60 to 70 dB range.[7] Typically, a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter may have a dynamic range of between 90 and 95 dB,[8]: 132
a "perfect LP" would not work unless you had a perfect player to go along with it
Yeah. Bad gear can really downgrade the performance of vinyls.
And maintenance. Yuck.
no like, the way vinyls work relies on the wide grooves
Holo May can do 24 bits afaik.
i mean i very much like my vinyls, thank you very much good sirs and ladies.
No way an R2R dac can do that.
it is not that they are bad, but they are "imperfect" in a specific way
that said i did invest into decent needlings and stuff.
but i very much just really enjoy the vibes of putting on some LPs
What does a R2R dac mean ?
Fiio has a low cost R2R dac called the Fiio k11
I saw Holo May measurements a long time ago and it measured very well but R2R is still the inferior and outdated technology to delta-sigma.
It's 'it's old so therefore it must be good' stuff. Don't buy it.
https://youtu.be/HOvubnenXyo
This video explains it really well.
What is a Digital to Analog Converter, and why do you need one? And how do they even work?

reminds me
I have the one in the thumbnail (RME ADI-2 DAC FS).
finally got convinced to listen through to pimp a butterfly and it might be one of the most meh albums I have listened to
I've already watched it but too technical, I need to rewatch it to understand everything (I'm french)
maybe I need to warm up to it more but it just felt kinda inferior to some other ones
I like Good Kid Mad City way more.
not as much of a disappointment as the king of the mischievous south part 2 was at least
To answer more fully yes it is an older and inferior technology. Delta-sigma chips are cheaper and better. Keep in mind huge companies are spending absolute fortunes on perfecting delta-sigma tech. Just ignore R2R anything. You're paying more for nothing good in return.
Oh would you look at the time?
Time to go grab my curry left overs from work earlier / yesterday
Doesn't really answer my question 😅
A resistor ladder is an electrical circuit made from repeating units of resistors, in specific configurations.
An R–2R ladder configuration is a simple and inexpensive way to perform digital-to-analog conversion (DAC), using repetitive arrangements of precise resistor networks in a ladder-like configuration.
refers to the technology used to create an analogue signal
Okay and what does "delta-sigma" do better than the other tech ?
Okay thanks you
most obvious one would probably be reduction in variances on basically all ends, unit to unit would be smaller as well as frequency response in general
making an accurate resistor network of any kind can get expensive so you might as well use the better methods we know of by now
Okay 👀
They are 2 different ways to convert audio. One is not better than the other.
I personally cannot hear a difference between DACs.
It's always the amplifier that matters.
I know
Everything.
a well made R2R can sound good, but making an R2R to be decent at this point just does not really make much economic sense
I see
Can you hear a difference between DACs?
and the "higher end" ones require more and more PCB space which comes with other potential issues that you need to work around
depends on the DAC, 2 well made ones, probably not, no
What good delta-sigma dac is on the market currently ?
Have you tried?
not with proper A B testing
Used Zen Dac for 50 bucks is all you need.
There are good R2R dacs. And by good I mean that they sound the same as any decent/good delta-sigma. R2R is usually more expensive. So hard to recommend.
yea that is basically what it boils down to
That's a no then.
you absolutely can make a good R2R one, it just costs more to make it that way
I am using an R2R DAC right now
Isn't delta sigma superior to R2R ladders?
They are all the same.
Yes.
latter is expensive to make well
As far as I know Holo May is "technically" the best DAC there is and that one is R2R.
and at best it sounds as good as the other one
Does it matter? No.
I don't need to upgrade for now, I'm just planning my endgame setup for the future 😅
I just don't really know what dac to choose..
What if I have a Yggdrasil DAC?
R2R dacs are CRTs if CRTs had zero advantages over LEDs.
Good for you I guess?
Have you tried one before Ary?? 😮
Except clarity, refreshrate, resolution, color volume and contrast...
Audiophiles in natural habitat are indeed fascinating creatures
So.. more or less everything.
and if you look inside you can see the issues with R2R, the resistor networks are on entirely separate PCBs and have tons of shielding around them
No. Never tried any of the Schiit stuff.
Uhm achkually my CRT can reach 700 Hz (unironically).
At 120p.
most of those are things we can do well now, ghosting not tho
Please continue, can you take apart steam decks to build a large mondo DAC? 😄
I do wonder what would've happend if CRT wasn't abandoned. How far we would come with 20 years of progress since the death of CRTs.
Yes
'It's old, clunky and expensive to manifacture so it must be better'
what about a 1 bit ADC that can operate in the MHz range
at best maybe ones that are more wear resistant
but CRTs would have always been kinda heavy and bulky to some extent
So do you guys know any ?
Yes but I do think we would be gaming at 4K 500hz by now with those given how much ahead they were of LCDs initially.
yea too bad that companies wanted smaller lighter and cheaper
My CRT has very noticeable 'ghosting' (phosphor decay). Like 100-200ms. They are so flawed.
I already answered you. If you go by the logic of "expensive = better" then Rockna Wavedream is at your service.
They also are the reason for the term burn in
OLEDs are basically the modern equivalent
me with my bluetooth earbuds reading chat
mhh yes I would love using a crt screen on my phone
lol

Me boi
where is the weight for that ps2
Geometry is a somewhat overlooked CRT issue by a lot of people. It's great not needing to think about that nonsense with LEDs.
Kawaii.
I "need" something really good for the price at a reasonable price (less than 2k)
wanna share it with me? i could kill for some CRT animal crossing
I cannot hear the difference between DACs and probably neither can you. Go find out if you can and if you can't then get the cheapest that has all the outputs that you need.
why is your window telling you it is alarm protected on the inside
I myself have EF499 as it matches my setup and doubles as a solid amp that I can quickly switch on when I don't want to bother engaging my tubes.
those stickers are often double sided
yeah they are. have a few of exactly those in my area too
Yeah I think everybody (me included) kind of forgets how bad human hearing actually is. You can go to ASR and find a random dac that measured 'poorly' and ended up in the 'meh' category and I still don't think I'd be able to hear a difference between it and a Topping D90.
Human hearing sucks.
"DACs" is a very broad range
More or less yes.
an old adlib had a DAC
My hearing change everyday 😅
I doubt that you could hear the difference between a cheap af decent one and a high end one nowadays
My hearing is pretty good
But I'm almost blind, so...
I had to be nerfed in some other way
human hearing still sucks
the monkeys paw curls
and depends on a ton of factors that change every time as well
I know I couldn't hear the diff between an Apple dongle and a Holo May.
I have optic nerve damage at the back of my right eye, so I have to wear glasses.
Perrmanetly.
rip
It's because I'm always tired, some day I hear more stuff in my music than some other day
got good vision and hearing luckily
Yeah it sucks, but I'll livef, and yeah my hearing is good.
Had bad vision. Got it fixed with laser surgery.
My eyes are healthy, but it's just something I have to live with.
And my hearing seems to be good despite my ears being regularly clogged by vax.
I can hear above 20khz
Yeah that's good thing.

How do I hide posts?

But again my eye sight isn't as strong without glasses, I see better with them because I'm short sighted so I can only see them because of distance issues.
My friend on the other hand - great vision
But has musical hearing of level one - recognizes when music plays
I don't think I can hear above 13k my hearing is shot
I would love to joke about my age but I already got 3 accounts banned that way so I will pass this time.
RIP
I can probably also hear 20k if I boost that frequency a ton and pump the volume of my amp up to deafening levels. In regular 'comfortably loud' listening I reach somewhere between 16 and 17 kHz (this also of course depends a bit on the headphones).
(I'm 24)
seems like a good way to melt off some of that hearing in a rapid manner

guys is it normal for me to not have a delivery date anymore on the website for my order? i had one yesterday
I could hear 17k and had 9/10 on 15k blind test
you asked in general chat already so best to keep it there
Honestly there's not even really any music up at those frequencies.
yea typically artists are old af + exposed to loud noise a lot anyways
Fr concerts are ludicrously loud
iirc last time I checked my ears tapped out around 13-15khz
last time I did I could hear 17 at most
Are you old? (30+)

I mean it typically would be either that or working close to loud machinery
without proper ear protection
In 6 years you'll change your definition of old
38 this winter
for ears 30 is already old
had tinnitus for most of my life too
Not true. Old technically just means 'older than me' meaning it will never happen to me.

no sweatin I've known my hearings been a bit messed up since forever
but even if its not you lose those high freqs at this age
yea it is a constant decline
Mine is messed up too
I can't even go to cinema for example without plugs, otherwise my ears and head start to hurt and I can hear ringing in my ears
Pretty much everything goes down after about 25
hearing starts before that actually
I cant wait to be old
basically constant decline from when you are born
at around 25 your smell actually starts becoming worse iirc
back pains go brrrrr
get a few zinc alloy cases from wooting and deadlift. your back will be strong
work for wooting support and your back will pulverize trying to carry the workload
I am stretching my back for 10 minutes everyday, no more back pain
i move around a ton, the days i don’t my back gets more stiff and hurts
yep luckily my adhd keeps me restless enough to move about regularly
but yeah sometimes its enough to sleep in a weird angle for one night and get crippled for the next 3 days
hah yes have had that with my neck. sit stand desk also has helped me quite a bit with moving more
Good chair + good mattress does wonders
Or a broken couch
Tbh only thing that kinda got worse for me so far is knees
now you could get murdered by a door handle or somethin
oh yea my right knee is fucked
But those will be fucked at some point anyways since i am tall and not severly underweight
hurts so bad weighing on that after a while
i haven’t noticed any decline yet tbh but i’m 22. will see in a few years
They just kinda don't feel great nost of the time
for me most of the obvious stuff started around early 30s but differs for everyone I think
genetics, how active you are and so on
i see
Is there a way to change my display resolution on Android???
Not pixel density or scaling
The actual resolution
Id like to drop it down to 1080p to play games at higher fps
I did that on my S8 years ago so I assume so.
Samsung let you do it natively if the resolution is higher than 1080p
But they are the only brand that seems to offer that setting
Samsung only started offering it once they got stupid high resolutions for vr iirc
Oo...
Pixel Pro models seem to have that setting too
1440p on a sub 7" device just doesn't make a whole lot of use and draws power unnecessarily
yeh for sure, its a total waste
Jeez my night... stand? Shelf next to my bed, is in direct competition to a tech store display unit. Phones, smart watch, tablets, icuding one ms surface...
570 is fucking wild
I got a pile consisting of a steam deck, a quest 3 and several audio devices next to my bed atm
Welcome to the club, but mine is also a potential fire hazard
.....I want a quest 3
Yeah was kinda wild Sony did 4k phones for so long and now they went straight to 1080p on their latest flagship
Nah game stuff is in the living room...
No free sockets left in the bedroom haha
4k is only needed at like 24 inches display size
well, maybe higher, 1440p is fine for 24 - 30 inches
Oops, oh no
Don't got a real living room
Waaaat
Tbh it is kinda insane how good vr stuff got
My room is our living room
Like i have a "living room" but there only is a couch in that, that i got as a gift wit the apartment
I don't even own a tv
I sat on it like twice
And my tv is half as old as i am at this point
I have two TVs
And a fire extinguisher, was really useful after my old PSU decided to elect a new pope
Quest 3 is still hella pricey where I live 😢
about 500 for the base model :/
Isn't everything
Good ol' 2009 1080p Toshiba, don't need nothing more
Didnt u have like similiar model as i did?

Would look quite bad if it saw constant use
Probably. Mine has 8k hours I think. Looks very good.
Mine CRT is from 1997
Yes
But the price of the Quest 3 is like 200 euro cheaper in America .-.
One of the classrooms I go to has a huge 16:9 CRT TV in.
Does that include tax?
Tax wouldn't be 200 right?!
I mean u should be able to look the rate up
pricing is the same in the us if you consider tax and everything..
Hmm
Possibly
560€ here
if anything with current rates its a bit cheaper here sometimes
Tbf
Id mostly play Beat Saber and VR horror maps on gmod and half life
And beat saber would only be the case if I'm good at it...
You could play Beat Saber on Google Cardboard and two PS3 Move controllers
nah the tracking is horse shit on old controllers
for trying it sure but not once you play more than idk 5 hours
I thought Cardboard died well before beat saber released?
This thing?
O.o
It was, oh it was shit
And lag from streaming PC to mobile was abysmal

I dont know of i'd trust that seller though. Lol
Might be broken or damaged in some way
Or may be a box full of potato
Mmmm taters
Kartofle best vegetable
Carrots and cucumber are great too
Kartoffel is good as fries or chips, yes
Yep
Or creamy mash
Carrots are great
A must have in ragu bolognese
Now I really want a seafood pie
And I want cottage pie and some kofola
is wooting 60he module plate plastic or metal
PC plate, polycarbonate
No steam VR?
so thays plastic
Yup, pre-built one comes with steel plate
fuck i thought i saved another 20
everything has steamvr if you connect it to pc
You dun get it.. lol

Does anyone know the maximum amount of polling rate the wooting60he can support?
don't know what colored iPhone to get Black or Desert
Meant to type 1K for you lol
Lmao
80HE can go up to 8K
Did you use the enterprise version of windows?
It only supports 1khz
Also polling rate on keyboards is just marketing btw, nothing special
You wont notice the difference between 1k and 8k
Oh wait someone answered that already
Sorry for the ping
The new gpu in the ps5 pro is reported to be as powerful as a 7800xt
Sadly 0 games
Overpriced console 💔
Could buy the RX 7800xt for literally as much as the base ps5
Anyways thats enough shitting on playstations poor decisions, good night tater tot gang
Honestly I wouldn’t really call it overprice yet
We don’t really know how capable it really is until someone gets their hands on it
$700 for a console is a lot nevertheless
Can someone explain to me what I do if I ordered the Wooting 60he without having an account on the page, and when I want to track my order it appears in the account with the same email with which I purchased the order that I have no purchase
When did u ordered your 60he ?
just now lol, but it appears to me that it will arrive on September 18, the thing is that I want to track my order but I don't know how, or it still can't be tracked, sorry if I seem very ignorant
The tracking starts after ur order was handed to the delivery company
okay, thx seriously, i was worried lol, thx bro
today arrives my wooting
Mid November arrives my wooting
Most likely good performance for the price, but thats due to the consoles selling for less than they are worth.. The strategy with them is to make money over time with more expensive games and the subscription bs, basically paying twice for using ur internet..
Intel plans to release a firmware update at the end of September to address stability problems in its 13th and 14th-generation Core processors. The new chip generations, which incorporate new architectures, are expected to be free from the voltage-related instability found in the current models.
More fixes
same : )
'unrelated to wooting but anyone know why my 2, w, s, x keys press 2 keys to their left?
shorting between the columns somehow

I payed that much for my original chonky ps5 and it came with 2 controllers, the media controller, 3 $70 triple A titles and the $100 sony pulse headphones
man am i glad thomann repaired my srh840 headphones
i guess repair is thomann speak for replace
same for most places xd
i guess i have a pair of 840a to give to someone now
o?
well you see i was happy they said thell send my srh8470 to the repair center cause thomann doesnt have any of those anymore and they dont just fold flat but fold in. and folding flat just aint fitting in my backpack i usually use
my plan was basically keep the hd560s at my desk and keep the repaired srh840 in my backpack
How is the comfort on the 840As, I have a pair of 440s and they are so insanely uncomfortable
i got these w my wooting what are they used for?
they are still CIB i havent opened it
spares
got it thanks
what does this mean
That we'll be able to skip Vulkan pipeline compilation if the game has native Vulkan shader compilation and use it
Which a lot of UE5 games do
this didn't help me 😔
Less stutters and better performance in UE games on Radeon cards
That is not how I understand it
I understand it as games managing shader caches themselves, so now shader caches can be all over your system instead of just in ~./.cache/mesa_shader_cache_db
Genius
Well, yeah, but the game has to implement pipeline_binary extension
Which mostly UE games do, because on Windows -vulkan is a golden hammer for all problems with UE5 on AMD
well I don't understand a word but if it makes my games run better I'm happy
though I don't know if I have any UE5 games
I mostly play Unity and Source games
I don't think I have seen a single UE4/UE5 game run on Vulkan despite the engine supporting it.
Yeah because it's just worse performance and less features
Forcing DX12 however works pretty much every time and can give a nice performance boost on older UE4 titles that ship with DX11 by default.
Usually this results in more GPU work and less CPU work.
I'm currently running satisfactory in it
Dx12 had weird graphical issues
Also most of the included shadets are vulkan last time I used ue5
wait is there already god of war ragnarok on pc?
this month
This is like the third driver with supporrt for it too, kinda funny
whats funny
actually impressive that they optimize drivers before the game comes out and not after
thats not impressive thats mandatory lmao
Oh I just mean to keep adding like "Best driver for God of War / FFXVI" 3 drivers in a row
Square has also been updating the demo. Things are lookin good
We aint getting UW tho
Its been confirmed
not at launch yes
Not at all
where is that from
It's not like space marine where they said we're updating it
We got UW already
Ff7 never got official UW support
last interview they literally said they couldnt make it into the launch and will add it later
this isnt ff7
They backported the pc mod from ff7
For one, there's a method to do it in the game by switching between display mods
same publisher different dev team
Nah ur confusing it with space marine
Inever managed to get it working
no I am very certain since I read 0 interviews about spacemarine 😛
and I know both yoshi-p as well as another producer talked about UW support specifcalkly
Good guy.
Yoshi-P himself said he plays his games in Ultrawide, so it'll come 😛
Either way this mod will be available day 1 from Lyall
i spend too much time in and around 14 to mix something about that team up with space marine which I dont care about
Guess i'll just use that
SpecialK is a magical place.
https://twistedvoxel.com/final-fantasy-xvi-pc-frame-rate-ultra-wide-mouse-kb/ march I believe was the first mention of UW
We stole the ducksip emoji there too, so got a little of Wooting
Oh wow. A whole one hundred FPS? We truly are dining fine.

over, it supports up to 240
What an oddly phrased title then 😄
I mean it could still make it in for release
lol
Feels half baked not shipping the game with UW
Well it barely kept 30FPS on PS5, so 100 seems like a lot.
no its because he talks in the interview how fps will vary, like you using ultra wide will result in less than normal aspect ratio
so its just taking his words
Japanese code, folded 1000 times. Very strong.
Right now our engineers are working on that optimization and figuring out what the limits are. We've seen some hardware getting that framerate up over 100 (fps) in places, but again, it's going to depend on the hardware that you have
I find it odd. Cause historically their games have had issues with engine limitations.
I don't care if SETUP X can run the game at Y FPS. I care about what the game can SUPPORT 😄
its a modified 14 engine
and again, this was from march
and if you want other answers tell them to ask different questions, they arent going to tell you something nobody asked them 😛
Noes
XVI uses another offshoot of Crystal Tools,
They have a little in common, but not much
hm yeah guess I remembered some badly translated part from an interview
In the initial stages, verification was conducted using Unreal Engine 4 and the real-time visualization software Marmoset Toolbag, but it was difficult to reach the finer details, so the FFXIV engine was extended to allow rendering in a PBR environment, and a full-time programmer was assigned to build the environment and shader area.
thats what I remembered but I guess that doesnt tell too much detail
any recommendations for powered desktop speakers? Budget ~$250, Bluetooth not needed and due to size constraints cannot use full size bookshelf speakers
ive had logitech z623 for longer than i can remember

I had $50 in robinhood money i wasn't allowed to take out.
I invested in doge before wallstreet hodl.
why invest when you can do bank heist and take the money
is it stealing if the money is already stolen?
Idk robinhood isnt working in peoples favor eitherway.
They limit accessibility if there investors need to make a profit first.
Nah, just got 2 cents from my amd investment, I’m rich

I have been testing DLDSR some more. At first I dismissed it because it made the image look slightly blurrier and slightly reduced bloom in a lot of cases. But it seems to be heavily game dependant. Some games look really good with it.
Screenshot looks oversharpened for some reason but you can see that even with that oversharpening there is minimal aliasing but a lot of detail. In person it looks better.
I find DLDSR very odd looking until you turn the sharpening to 0
then it's alright
pictures dont show the artifacts that you see in movement
There is no sharpening. Only smoothness. I set smoothness to 0%.
err I mean smoothness, yeah that
When the web configuration software is a lie
Anyone have a good recommendation for a good wireless headset?
Maxwells are usually the most recommended
I see he did not get the message..
are they people out there who actually think a ps5 pro can run better than $700 gaming pc?
i got into an argument when people in another server who thinks a ps5 pro runs better than a $700 gaming pc💀
they had to be trolling for sure
100% Trolling
(I hope for them)
Unless you got your PC used or on a killer deal then yes PS5 will most likely be faster.
that or they were little kids. They sounded like they had no pc knowledge whats so ever
amd ryzen 7 5800x is $169 on amazon
And then writing Ps5 is better 💀
i want to upgrade my cpu but id need to replace my mb and ram as well
yeah i always been amazed when people think a ps5 can run "true native 4k at 120hz" when its a marketing scam for consoles
Maybe US prices are so much better it's possible to build a new PC there for PS5 Pro price.
In EU it's not that easy.
im sure you can find deals to make a good gaming pc for the same price as a ps5 pro
how much better is the 9700x over the 7700x
its a $50 difference between the 2 deals im looking at
if its $50 difference than get the better one
Just buy the 7800x3d
Imagine a PS5 can run a 4K Texture
They are the same.
thats a lot more
How much ?
people have to spend thousand of dollars to game in true native 4k with 100+ fps but ps5 die hard fan boys think their $700 console can do a better job💀
7700x is 50 less then the 9700x combo
I mean it would probably be nice if a Ps5 really can run true native 4K but I mean then I’m at the airport with the sounds and in a microwave
very true
The 7800x3d is so worth it, maybe you can save even more by buying everything separately ?
I mean i want to have a nice pc for a true native 4K Quality but I don’t know what is good because I don’t have the time to spend on knowing everything about good pcs
oh i forgot
would i need to worry about cpu-gpu bottlenecks
am currently using a 2070 super
at 1440p
I think even with the 7700x your system will be GPU bottleneck
id need a whole new pc 😅
Newer games would more likely have you gpu bound
Always ?
On desktop too ??
only for a few games like AC, Apex, TFD
mb i forgot to name the games in the message
idk if you know about these sites but this can help youhttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/ and https://www.userbenchmark.com/Software
BAD
BADDDD
i did recently do a windows wipe and currently idle is 7-11% cpu and 2% gpu
i used partpicker for my current build
Shoot 1 more time against Goku and I’m coming to you
Please not userbenchmark
Pricing for the 7800x3d is kinda getting a little dumb since the 9000 series released
The time to get it ar an all time low was before 9000 released
Yeah I see that 😅
I have your back in this channel @bright briar
as you can tell its been a while since i build my pc. Dont shame me
if you got a better site lmk 🥺
I got mine for 425 cad in june... now it's 569 cad for the cheapest i can find @gusty nexus
That's a lot
Userbenchmark is not good 😅
Biggest amd hater
what do you use?
Userbenchmark is quite the best all-year continuous april fools prank
Can anyone help me with building a good pc? I don’t care about the budget if its not higher then 10K otherwise imma be broke if I hit my pc one time 💀
And the cheapest i could find wasn't even in stock atm lol
this is more or less my current pc
Actually nvm newegg canada still has it
For what ?
it depends on what games you want to play
Techspot (written version of HBU) has some nice accurate benchmarks
So does techpowerup
you talked bad about userbenchmark so whats your replacement for it
is it a fresh build?
I play a lot of games so I can’t say one I prefer but mostly I play League of Legends at the moment, I also play Valorant, CS2, Elden Ring and other games
i have that ram but in white
It should be completely new yes
I gave you one
Youtube Channel like Gamer Nexus, Hardware Unboxed, Jayztwocents, Hardware Canucks
this is considered a decent price for the build cause i bought everthing peak covid 💀
the monitor tho
Jayztwocents is a bit eh for benchmarking he's not bad but his benchmarks aint the most detailed
i got robbed
its okay i spent double the price for mine during covid dont be ashamed. Covid were tough times
It's not decent if it was overpriced during covid
XD
I know but it's not bad content 😅
Agreed
would you say elden ring is the most graphic intensive game?
ya'll think that's bad, I had to buy a new gpu in 2021
i had everything except a gpu 🥲
you already have monitors and etc? or you need those too
also depends if you want to game in 1080p or 1440p
Probably not I also play Elder Scrolls Online I would say it is the most graphic game
ram and storage wasnt as cheap, though the 980 evo i got recently
im current running quad channel ram (yes ik its not ideal) but ram was just a lot at the time
it was outside return window
ah yeah that too
2K my current monitors just randomly freeze if I play a game then I need to restart my pc and I don’t have the time for it
duel monitor?
You're running 2x16...
Yeah I have 2 of them
That's dual channel and even 4 dimms are dual channel still
thats just for the listing
4 dimms are dual channel still
im too lazy to fish out the actual ram
Both are the same
im mixing hyperx and corsair ram atm
Quad channel is HEDT
idk the proper term
it's so good
Oh
i have 2 sticks of corsair and 2 sticks of hyperx
this is literally correct
i checked they are the same speed so im not losing performance

I like how they have why is userbenchmarked banned on reddit and not promoted by youtubers
Lmao
it's funnier, those are random
you can't go wrong with 3080 or 3070. If you want to splash more cash than 4070 or 4080 is a top notch choice. Theres a lot of 4000s series gpu out there like 4070 super and etc. So you gotta do some research
they link to this list
I would’ve add you as a friend if I could… but anyway thanks for the recommendation
what speed do they run at tho
3600
yeah

At a certain point, I feel like if you have to explain your bad reputation in enough places, you might just not be good.
all of them are just "bot accounts or bought off"
the cheapest 7800x3d is 420usd 🥲
I mean they put the 7800X3D at number 28 of their "objective" list
and intel "conclussions" are like 6 words
(13900k one)
yet AMD gets this
AMDchads stay winning
AMD stay
meanwhile intel can't even rma your dead cpu
wait isnt coolermaster banned in the us
That's a joke ?
no that is the actual "conclusion" on userbenchmark
But people really wanted to wait for zen 9000 so here we are with a poopy gen and everyone rushing to get the old zen4 stock
So it's bad and I shouldn't buy it?
Userbenchmark when they think a product is bad while it's not :
userbenchmark when the good product is from amd
It's a good product, Userbenchmark are not trustworthy
OH MY GOD YES THEY'RE BACK
What is the first one ?
wanna take a guess?
I don't know a lot of product 😅
Maybe 14900KS ?
(you are correct)
now go on and buy a CPU that fries itself in half a year
😂
Rip I can't find my G703 anywhere

I last used it in the multi purpose room in rehab (spinal)
Went to bed thinking I left it in my bag
💀
Brb gonna go cry (I have a spare g703 but still)
whats the best 4070 super? (not watercooled)
are asus tuf cards still decent?
~50$ over msrp

Since the 7000 series flopped (7800X3D somewhat excluded) due to unrealistic pricing, slow boot times, high platform costs and windows gamebar requirements etc., the 9000 series is more or less DOA. When the 9000X3D variants launch (expected in early 2025) gamers who play cache sensitive games such as SoTTR or Factorio with a 4090 and don’t mind frame drops, may find value in the 9800X3D. WHAT

Factorio need a 4090 ?

To be fair Ryzen 7000 was a total disaster at launch.
But now that it has been massively discounted and some bugs ironed out.. yeah now it's a good option to consider.
was the ryzen 7000 series the one with the exploding mainboards?
I don't have a single bug
if you got asrock for example you had good firmware day 1
Mainly x3d because of voltage problem I think ?
nope
by the time the x3d came out the issue was already resolved
for a LONG time even
Why gamer Nexus had the problem on x3d chip then ?
Oh okay, my memory is bad then, sorry 😅
yeah, just a lottery about coils
i mean im always using headphones so i doubt ill notice it
then yeah
sometimes tuf performs better than their rog line
even tho if you care about money just get 4070 ti super

ah
holy its 200 more
200 more what €?
usd
nvm then
well i mean the ti super is 200 more msrp
actually not worth depending on resolution you play
1440 144hz
zen4 on launch was fine x3d had some issues msotly on asus boards unrelated
It's fine 😅
I think it was on all 7000x CPU but more likely on x3d
was kind of an AMD issue
sort of
but it only really took place on asus boards
they did go out of spec on asus boards
- asus reacted very poorly
yea
then save up some $ for 4080 super
if you would like to play newer games on higher settings then yeah
i would save up some cash to get more performance
im not sure how much longer im doing pc gaming for
so i dont want to spend too much
but thanks 👍
midrange is where they should be competing
It was under my bed lol
I thought there's no way it's under there because the cleaners would have seen it when cleaning
affordable midrange is where cards are desperately needed too
It seems they didn't clean under the bed 😒
lets face it, people who have flagship money will splurge on nvidia with all their fancy bells and whistles like rtx, reflex, dlss etcetc
meanwhile they've been largely dominating the midrange segment for quite a while charging stupid moneys for it
its where radeon stand the best chance of taking some market shares
Update
Superlight 2 launched with 2k polling max, originally
i cant find any info on that update tho
like they never posted anything and people havent talked about it on reddit or sum
Yeah seems like it was silent dropped sometime yesterday
But no discussion about it whatsoever
Shows how much people care about 8k
if they did this even tho 4k polling was fake/really unstable then this can be either
not to mention that sensor lag and srav is worse on 4k than lets say native 2k
there was a lot of talk when 4k dropped
Noticed something off today, my laptop screen just turns off completely when I plug my charger in.
they kinda smol dongle
Yeah some people do use 4k, but 8k has issues with game compatibility and even more battery drain
2k was perfect i would say
but it was too late for "only" 2k lets say
and now they are late with every single release
GPX 2 had some pretty poor results in pzogel's testing, in terms of sensor implementation. I wonder if all the updates have improved it
made it worse clearly
Hmmm... Go for 7900XTX or wait for 8800XT?
there will always be a new card anyways
i guess if you don’t need a new card now it’s okay to wait, up to you really
buy last years tech at discount
The most appealing thing about waiting for 8800XT is that it will most likely eat less power than 7900XTX while probably be on the same level of performance
didn't AMD say they want to focus on midrange for now? you could be waiting quite a while then
Yeah, but it if offers the same performance as last-gen flagship and eat less power then I'm happy with it
Lecry
hm yeah power efficiency is nice
Ok so it seems to be dynamic refresh rate
When I disable it I don't have the issue
Uh oh now the screen isn't working
But I can hear the audio
Nvm the screen works but windows not so much hmmm... Maybe GPU drivers which tbf I updated last night.
Cleanup https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/GPU-601.html and reinstall
Already downloaded;)
depends how long you want to wait, good chance its not this year anymore
we don't even know if the pricing will be good
Or if they'll even meet their performance expectation
Remember when people were leaking the XTX as a 4090 competitor
that was projections from before final silicon tapeout
Also... it's amd i expect a disastrous launch
Till October? Not like I'm in a rush, but my brother is already nagging me to get new card and give him my old one
there is a data center event next month if we dont get infos about a customer event after that it's likely not coming this year anymore
Welp, RDNA3 it is
I mean... it's not like the card is gonna get any slower @umbral heron
If you're happy with the price and performance rn i say go for it
If only 4080S was cheaper and working with Wayland
- the rdna3 drivers are mature and nice and stable
Loonix, drivers are nice and stable
wayland support is getting better but i personally still wouldn’t use it
Amd generally always has buggy drivers on launch
just random stutters and such
Doesn't matter the OS
Yeah - if I were using drivers from AMD
But it always gets fixed up within a few months
Interesting... And fluid motion is now showing up.
You using a custom driver?
RADV likely
Mesa/amdgpu + vulkan-radeon/radv, yeah
I see
But going back to what i was saying
Amd needs to learn to launch products without issues
Or bugginess
It's always the same cycle with them
cut them some slack, its only been like 2 decades of this
The driver re-install didn't fix it

Or amd cleanup
Which have you used
I'd say if you used one and it didn't work try the other
Damn what they doing to your upload
ok so i can confirm when the screen goes off its just the screen not the laptop as i can hear my background stuff still going
Did you hit a windows+Ctrl+Shift+B
what does that do
Restarts your graphics driver
Don't work
It's like the screen just freaks out
when i manually adjust it myself it works fine....
😦 i really relied on drr
It was deffo the amd drivers... i wiped them again and used the ones from asus website and it works fine again.
HI DASHI
What version was causing you issues
Cuz there's a new one that's currently a hotfix for space marine
https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-24-10-37-10.html
Dunno if anyone here was playing space marine 2 with an amd card but there's a hotfix driver out for it
I posted it the other day

Truly a Jerry moment
Shit system
how so?
Sounds like it's a lot better
No mentioning of you can now both play at the same times with 2 different games from one library
i don't really know where to ask this so i'll do it here. I have my wooting 60he for like 6 months now and recently the tab button has been getting stuck
not like stuck stuck but scoreboards and stuff wont close after untill i press it again
and its only if i press near the right part of the tab button
I think the new steam families requires everyone to be in the same country, that's why they mad
Ah, scamming
Yay, found the ap Mounting bracket
That's true
Tested with a friend of mine
Can confirm on that
Life sux, ima just go back to buying and selling stocks
Jeff Geerling hates two finger tap to right click
time to cancel him /JK
I have an old 2010 Macbook Air. Apple dropped support for macOS on it years ago. Can Linux bring it back to life?
After installing Ubuntu 20.04, the experience was mixed, but overall a lot better than I expected! What do you think of the FPV style for this video? Should I try to do some more like it?
I recorded this video a few weeks ago, and ...
how the fuck else would you do it?
physically click the bottom right corner to right click 🤢
🤯
Gnome gives you the option of what method to use
same for scrolling
whomstf uses edge scrolling?!
i dunno but who uses trackpad
touchpad is nice when you have really good gestures for it on the desktop
doing anything on it takes too long imo
Gnome desktop is way better to use on touchpad than with a mouse IMO but Plasma is wayyyyyy better to use on mouse
Plasma has such tiny hitboxes at times, that are really awful to click with a touchpad
just moving it around and clicking by tapping is awful, I really hate it
According to 9/10 game developers, everyone does.

🤔
ElementaryOS needs to stop warning users that any app that they dont personally verify as being potentially dangerous and harmful software ...
So one finger edges, but two can finish the job XD
if you try to install any app on ElementaryOS, that is not verified by the ElementaryOS team.....you get a warning popup being like "Are you sure you want to install this app? Its unverified by our team and may contain harmful code that can steal your data and damage your system" and the default option is not to install it
Even Google Chrome and Firefox have that warning on ElementaryOS
classic
classic youtube comments
I love the I don't actually know if it's true, or remember properly, but I'm going to comment some shit anyway.
yeah ikr.... most bigots these days just repeat shit they heard rumours of without verifying
made sure to put it on the end of his comment instead of the start too
Did you guys see the Toms hardware articles? If AMD can get 40% market share that’d be great it’d make more developers adopt AMD hardware allowing AMD to finally compete!!!
40% of what? CPUs?
Just use one finger lightly scrolling the touch pad so it barely scrolls a few lines at a time XD
It's what they said about gpus. They are going after mainstream not high end
Because 80% of gpus are in the mid range spot, and if they can get half of that market share they will be at 40% total
Don't think that's ever happening
I mean for 90% of people, drivers have nothing to do with purchasing
It's not even drivers, they don't push enough into pre builds or laptops or anything like that
90% of people buy PCs like a console.
And maybe 1 in 10 have an AMD GPU in it 😂
Right now AMD is known for driver featured that get you banned in CS. Upscaling tech that cannot even compete against Intel. And poor support for old games.
Not exactly a good position to be in.
Probably less than 1 in 10
Yes that's what they want to change lol
Especially for normies that they are supposedly targeting.
They are not going to make a high end GPU, and pivot to doing everything they can to get raw market share
And then people buying PC like console look at it and it says AMD and move on to find something that says Nvidia on it
Just like people buy a playstation over Xbox
The average PC gamer couldn't tell you what GPU is in their pc
In general yeah but people do look at a quick spec sheet and if they don't see nvidia or intel they move on
Because that's what they know
Not the model. But they usually know if its nvidia or amd.
Nvidia spends fuck tons of money to make it the default option, just like intel
Hell my mom who knows absolutely nothing about tech thinks that amd = bad. Even on CPUs.
Exactly
And it works.
Would be nice
Whether or not they are better or worse right now, it's over the time of the past 20-30 years AMD were behind and will be behind in people's heads
I mean it did work for intel
That's how marketing over years works, getting into people's heads
Now amd is super common in store
AMD was always super common in a store
I remember buying a pre built PC back in early 2000s....
I wouldn't go for AMD GPUs because on numerous occations I have downloaded stuff that I have read has poor or non-existent AMD support. But how is this for CPUs? Do Intel CPUs have some support advantage over AMD?
And AMD was written on the spec sheet, I moved on to the next
It's the power of the brand over time.... like yeah AMD are great now, absolutely zero doubt on that
Like what lol
But... in people's heads..... they are the same old AMD, behind the other bigger brands
That won't change in a year
It won't change in 5... it will take 20 years to change that
I don't really remember. Last time I encountered it was recent when I downloaded mods for Kotor but I don't remember exactly what I read.
Apart from GVT-g in their iGPU I don't think there's something that Intel does, but AMD doesn't
But that's true in the other way around, there are some games that support AMD SMT
What's AMD SMT?
Frametime consistency... allegedly.
Literally early 2000 was when amd absolutely destroyed Intel's market share and was extremely competitive
So I doubt that was the case
xddd
Simultaneous multithreading, it's in CP2077, game can more effectively use threads on AMD CPUs
And there's quite a difference
That's measurable at least if true.
Amd64 was killer
It doesn't matter... they were still behind
In market share
They weren't
Ah okay.
Ih the desktop space amd was top for performance and price in early 2000s
Intel calls it hyper threading, amd calls it smt
Yeah, until Bulldozer AMD was on top, then Bulldozer happened, Skylake happened and the rest is history
But did that make them the market leaders?
Never said it was a market leader
this is mainly about radeon tbh, they had poor, buggy drivers for like two decades
Ok then what are you saying to me... still 80% of people were buying intel in the scenario you gave
They said they passed on a PC in the early 2000s because of amd not being good enough
80%?? where are you pulling these numbers from
interesting if true though, but AMD rocketed in early 2000s
I don't know what you're trying to bring up... I said AMD Is great, they can have better performance
It wasn't brand loyalty
Doesn't mean they are going to take 40% of the market share because of it overnight
Dont not remember Intel's anti trust suit?
It will take a LONG time of having price to performance
Like a very, very long
time
The problem is everyone says a different thing. The only way to know for sure is to have both systems yourself and compare them.
That was literally 2005
The implementation however is quite different, on AMD it behaves more like 2 separate cores, on Intel it behaves like a small co-processor to a main core
That's why Intel wanted to drop it completely
Amd couldn't get market share dispite a decade of being extremely competitive
Isn't the scaling the same on them?
The point is the price and performance is not going to change anything... it will sway it by a few %
Come to find out Intel was illegally giving kickbacks to oems to not offer amd
Not 20-30%
SMT scales way better than HT, uses more power, sure, but performance is quite higher too
Intel was so scared of amd taking market share they had to stop them illegally
I am pretty sure AMD is destroying Intel right now on the CPU side.
Every storefront you look at the first 5 best selling cpus are Ryzens
And dispute that amd still had 20%
AMD have a chance maybe, in the CPU market to take a 40% share some time in the future... maybe 10-20 years
GPU? No.
Just simply no
Yeah, but Intel is still in most OEMs, in most of casual PC users minds Intel is still better than AMD, and they also have huge contracts, like with Us DoD
Walmart carries boxed ryzen 7000 in store now
Most people do seem to go for AMD on the CPU front.
Which is insane, but cool
I had AMD CPU in me box ever since I got my first PC in 2004
the rig am using now is my first amd since 2001 I think
My current CPU is the first AMD one I have owned. Before that I had the i7-7700K and before that again the i7-4770K.
K6 was the first amd we had and thunderbird was my first build
I had Sempron 3000+, then some A8 one, then some FX one, then 3600X and now 7950X3D
180nm manufacturing process

those are canned benchmarks obv
