"That's a great sign! It looks like your computer is correctly using the ASIO driver provided by iFi audio for your ZEN DAC V2. Here's why this is significant:
"iFi (by AMR) HD+ USB Audio": This indicates that Windows recognizes a specific USB audio device driver from iFi. iFi audio is known to provide well-designed ASIO drivers for their DACs."
Low Latency:
Your audio applications are likely bypassing the standard Windows audio stack and sending the audio directly to the ZEN DAC V2 through its ASIO driver. This results in lower latency for real-time audio tasks.
It was never done before hardware almost a year before the chip you're talking about though
apple even did it with the ultra chip lol
Well... good luck using an apple chip for the same purpose 😅
well, it's both gpus glued together, in theory they could
wont happen but the R&D isn't that far ahead of other options
But you're looking ahead to something that's not close to the MI300X
You're looking at 8TB/s HBM Bandwith compared to 5.3 on AMD with less power consumption, no?
Or are we ignoring that
are you looking at the b200 numbers?
B100, this year
that's HBM3E which a variant of mi300 is also using
they already confirmed it, they cant really launch memory that isnt being made yet
but also now im not sure I understood you correctly here, which chips are you comparing?
I just wish these companies would release their chips together so they can fight properly
I guess it will never be like that
Like put their all in without actually holding back
I mean that's kinda what they are doing?
none of them are so stupid as to not sell something they could sell
ok actually it might be the opposite. I found out that 5035853 broke many systems. On the same day they also launched different updates for "older" hardware which could explain a lot.
however, i cant uninstall the update from that day. Could System Restore do the trick?
anyone else have the problem if they are playing valorant and hold tab you cant use A or S to move
its only on valorant its az bit wierd
@astral haven how does 1080p look on your 4k monitor? specifically gaming
Looks fantastic with dlss or fsr, haven't gamed outside of that and native 4k in a while
hmmmm, cuz my use case would be apex at 1080p, no dlss/fsr
if I were to get the dual hertz monitor
really hope they make a 27" dual-hz soon
dual hz monitor will look better than scaling
I run 3x4k screens
you can try if you have 4k yourself with integer scaling
How?
Is it going to do anything other than integer scaling?
yea, its integer rather than normal scaling
your monitor might, but nvidia doesnt by default
Same ui element
nvidia will by default output the signal natively, and leaves it up to the monitor to handle
you have to tweak with these settings to customize it
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a55_march_2024_update_seamless_updates-news-62111.php
Fkn finally samsung jesus christ what took so long
Starting with the a55? Wouldn’t flagships get such features first huh
ok
Vive Cosmos
good headset?
worth it in <current_year>?
being an almost five year old headset
oo good! but now Samsung users are also gonna have to wait almost an hour for their phone to apply the update before asking to reboot :D
at least you can use the phone for that hour, but not too much otherwise it pauses the install
it already does that on samsungs without the new update
They also have the Jiu which is.. fuck knows what
USB-C Chu 1?
Quite like my chu 2's even if the nozzle is a little chunkier, they are still the least uncomfortable iem's I have used.
think it defaults to scaling with surround
Methinks that's a rare case
Speaking of janky nonsense, I want NVIDIA to do virtual submonitors.
Make Windows think that each monitor is split in half or in four.
display fusion dose that very very well
used it for like decade"
i have may surrounds split in to 1/3 2/3 top to bottom
as they are in portait
and my 2 side screens are triple split in portrait
Anyone here with experience in RAM?
raming your mom?

Does it make Windows think they are monitors however?
bro ive spent 20 hours with a ton of pc problems, im not in the mood
it just wrangles window sizes
so when you fullscreen a app it only goes so big
Full-screen or maximize?
both
Does it work with the Windows logic to reopen applications on the right monitor?
Or does it do it's own
pretty sure it dose it all
Interesting
I can probably just buy a copy on Steam to test it out at home, and if it works at home it'll probably work at work
anything?
i dont think anyone has one lel
...yike
reviews seem to be that it is a decent index competitor
comparable to a reverb g2
I would get a g2
but I can get a fresh and in box cosmos for the price of a g2 used
isnt cosmo only 90hz?
that is correct
personally id wait to see what sony is cooking with the psvr2 pc
i dont count the g2 as its inside out
new firmware update actually makes the psvr2 work on pc with minor hackery
inside out isnt comparable to one with real tracking
you still need a box tough
yea for now
very possible that sony can make a passive adapter work with a future firmware update, and they will sell it as a pigtail
why would they
they want you to need a playstation
hence doing the game stream thing
why would they unfuck the functionality on pc to begin with via a firmware update?
before you needed to do hacky bs to make it even consider working in vr (not in 2d mode)
the current issue isnt intentional
that's an advantage for me though
inside out...um...definitely subpar but setup and teardown is a lot easier
afaik theres a new update as of 2 days ago
trying to find sauce
the nvidia issue is what im talking about
thats what requires the hack to get working
if they did, PSVR2 would be the obvious choice
with amd it works
yes amd works with a virtual link adapter
and more hackery
and RTX 2000, no?
nope
they have actual virtual link ports though
on windows it needed hacks
weirdchamp
the thing isnt an actual headset
on nvidia it appears as a 2d device (as sony and nvidia intend)
only on amd though
it still doesnt work
ok so its a vr headset right?
either you and i have very different definitions of work or you dont understand what the support does
if you plug it into a virtual link adapter into a linux radeon 7xxx machine it will work
now with the update
if you plug it into a windows radeon 7xxx machine it works
works means as a steamvr headset
pretend to be 2 displays and nothing else
[citation needed]
and i dont mean 1 dude on reddit says its working, or a picture of the headset in steamvr, i mean actual vr, so including moving
iVRy...right
you need a driver
ivry makes the only one
honestly, I want to see what Sony's official headset support (if at all) for PC looks like first before I hop on that bandwagon
sony hasnt released an offical one
no tracking, no controllers
the only difference between nvidia and amd right now is that on nvidia its a 2d hmd, and on amd you can hack it to be a 3d hmd
"Built-in support for Sony PSVR2 6DOF integrated tracking."
again [citation needed]
and i mean including proof
ivry hasnt said they have psvr2 working yet afaik only psvr1 (by my definition of working)
fam
psvr2 is drastically better
you cant read i cant help you
What is the iVRy Driver for SteamVR (PSVR2 Premium Edition) DLC?• It is the FULL version of the iVRy Driver for SteamVR with PSVR2 support. What is iVRy (PSVR2 Edition)?• iVRy is a Virtual Reality headset driver for SteamVR for your Sony PSVR2 headset. What does that mean?• Want to play PC VR* (Virtual Reality) titles without having to buy another...
Coming soon
PSVR2 got a firmware update with the latest PS5 update. It now works without bypassing EDID and DSC stuff that used to be necessary to get it to work on a PC
Based on that change, it looks like the PC support will be directly plugged in and not streamed
Is Sony washing hands?
there is a store page for the fucking psvr2 version
shhhhh, reading is difficult
they must of pulled it today
point is wait for whatever sony is doing or get a quest 3, unless you are only gonna be doing sit down vr
so wait for Sony
there are videos of it working on pateron
but i cant bebothered to figure out how to rip them,
just admit you were looking at psvr1 and we can move on to actually useable stuff
the plan was actually to stand in place
walking is for nerds
but sitting is for shrimps and incels
sit down vr is a type
I am aware
so will you be playing sit down games and experiences or roomscale stuff
so i scrolled back, it was only avaible for the people who bought the adapters
the ones you dont need anymore lol
best way to put it is "sit down" games
roomscale...none of which interest me
wait...
if you arent doing the roomscale style games, then the tracking is muuuuuuuuch less important
for shooters...preferable to have
especially since most of the sit down style ones dont even use the tracked controllers
wtf
im not aware of a shooter that isnt roomscale what
sit down is like simmer stuff
even if you are standing in place, the style of tracking is the difference
can you step?
i ment in what ever game youre talking about
most I'm interested in rely on joysticks for movement
but use tracked controllers for aim
what game
if it uses tracked controllers its almost certainly not classified as sit down
yeah what game would you shoot sitting down with controllers
ww2 turret gunner sim lol
trying to recall, but F4VR at minimum
again you can play sit down vr games while standing
f4vr isnt seated
yes...
the classification is more for headsets, the cv1 with its original tracking setup you couldnt turn around and still have tracking
that was a given...
I'm pretty dumb but not THAT dumb...I think
games that are fully playable like that are probably fine on any inside out tracking, but for a shooter, presumeably fast paced, its really worth getting the stuff designed for it
fast paced...no
the ones I plan on playing are extremely sluggish
i wouldnt even be surprised if the psvr2 made over 20% of the population sick when doing fps style gameplay
you tried vr before?
and i mean for more than half an hour and while moving your head around
remember what headsets
f4vr is also terrible to comparing tracking do to the engine barely able to keep smooth in 3d
Rift
only the quest > quest 3 has a major improvement
that only narrows it down by half
not the Rift S
just the Rift
cv1?
the og rift had ir cam tracking
not as good as lighthouse, but better than inside out
the cv1 is actually pretty fantastic besides being incredibly low res
quest 3 is about on par tracking wise vs 3 station cv1 and its better than 2 station cv1 afaik
cosmos is almost certainly worse
I do expect that to some extent because of the inside out
and I'd still rather inside out
serviceable
they want actual games XD
i mean for controller tracked vr its about the same level of pain as a reverb g2 lol
can't wait for capcom to port their RE VR ports to Vision Pro as well
so those games are on TWO platforms I don't intend to touch
i recommended a g2 to a friend who said they didnt want to play games, just art and modeling
then they got addicted to games and bought the full knuckles kit to get servicable controllers lol
Does anyone think they can help me?
I have a problem with one of my new keyboards (The yunzii al66)
For some reason the windows and alt keys are switched.
Additionally the software does nothing to help. It doesn't even work
Is it one of those shitty keyboards that use VIA for configuration?
Seems that their keyboard is wireless and relatively mid-range priced, Wooting doesn't seem to be in their interest
It has its own software so I dont know if the keyboard or the software is the issue
I would get wooting but it is out of my budget
the keyboard is actually really nice its just the software
Duckies are nice
everything but the key mapping works
Or actually, a Keychron
Keychrons are very well built and priced
A lot of good brands that aren't named "Yunzii" like an Amazon scam
Ill look into them but where Im at not much are available
Where you at?
I was doing some research and it looks like Im the only that is experiencing the windows alt switch
some island near madagascar
yuh
Ah, that little pot of everything
basically everything but proper tech stuff and clothing
How are imports there?
so so, not the best but I found a little shop with a few keychron, akko, ajazz and some other more popular brands
but they really overprice it
First two brands were good, idk wtf is ajizz
Idk I saw some good stuff about them
I contacted the support team and Im just waiting for a response, Im not sure if they'll be any help tho.
I FIXED IT
oh the software works now too
yay indeed
Wrote a super crappy Sudoku solver.
I'll make it a little less bad later in the day.
Good mental challenge
Dunno how I'd write one on the spot, prolly would have to figure it out
Especially making it scale dynamically to bigger grids?
Brute force sudoku
You just group the cells into columns, rows and blocks and track the numbers in each one.
Well yeah I know how Sudoku works, dunno how I'd write a script and how I'd want it to flow
I used a 9 bit wide bitfield stored in an int to make it easier.
I suppose you complete a block first, then move on to second block, then third until row is complete, then move on to another row?
Dunno if that's efficient
For each field check and save which numbers are allowed there
If there's only one allowed number there insert it into the field
Repeat
public void refreshPencil() {
for(int y = 0; y < cells.length; y++) {
var row = cells[y];
for(int x = 0; x < row.length; x++) {
var cell = row[x];
if(cell.value() != -1) {
cell.pencil(0);
}
var setRow = rows[y];
var column = columns[x];
var block = block(x, y);
int pencil = 0b111111111;
pencil &= ~setRow.values();
pencil &= ~column.values();
pencil &= ~block.values();
cell.pencil(pencil);
}
}
}
public boolean step() {
boolean changed = false;
for(var row : cells) {
for(var cell : row) {
if(cell.value() != -1) {
continue;
}
var pencil = cell.pencil();
if(Integer.bitCount(pencil) == 1) {
int value = 32 - Integer.numberOfLeadingZeros(pencil);
cell.value(value);
changed = true;
}
}
}
if(changed) {
refreshPencil();
}
return changed;
}
It's super stupid.
It's even better, ANDing 9bit fields is pretty genius though
I learned recently about sudoku rings which blew my mind
The next step would be to track stuff like if a cell can only have a number in the same row/column you can pretend that number exists in that row/column.
Ew, I don't like these kind of programming languages
Bitwise stuff makes everything easier.
You don't like good programming languages? More power to you I suppose.
I don't like Java at all
Java is great.
I'd rather Python
22 just came out with the best new features since 9.
Python is god awful.
Slow weird scripting language.
Duality of programmers
The GIL is really brutal.
Look here, in the top left cell you know that there is a 7 in the top row so you can just assume that there is a 7 there in the other two cells to the right. (They already have 7s placed, but it gets the idea across)
I should change this code to make it work with base 9 and base 16 Sudoku too.
I'm honestly not entirely sure how I should implement that...
I guess bitsets in each row and column of a block.
What's a "base 16" sudoku?
Wouldn't just changing to 16-bit value work?
0123456789ABCDEF and 16/16.
Hexdoku
Make it work for every base n²
It's not quite that pattern.
take userinput where you ask for which base lol
1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 6², 7², 8², etc..
Honestly base 25 is probably the last "easy" one.
With a half decent solver you can generate puzzles too, just randomly fill a puzzle with valid values and then randomly delete a bunch of stuff and if it can't solve you deleted too much stuff.
Do asymmetrical sudokus too
36 would require some changes I reckon
int pencilU = 0b111111111111111111;
int pencilL = 0b111111111111111111;
Unless you go with i64, then maybe
BitSet 😍
Oh
That'd work too
The limit of BitSet is around 128 billion bits.
The JVM would probably stop you first though.
I'm still thinking C way when it comes to bitwise anything
I don't think it likes long[0x7FFFFFFF].
I mean Java uses the same operators, it just adds >>>.
Or is |, not is ~, and is &, left shift is <<, arithmetic right shift is >>, and logical right shift is >>>.
Does a hexadoku also have ring patterns?
I asked ChatGPT and it said, "Yes! It looks like this!"

I think so? Although I'd have to check if it matches sets
It may not, since hexdoku has even number of sets, but maybe...
Ok, so it won't work for even base sets, but it will for odd base sets
For 4x4 it won't work, because we don't have central set to subtract from (A+B)-(AxB) set
For 5x5 (A+B)-(AxB)-central set is equal to 144, and (A-B) set is equal to 36, and since we have 4 36 sets, then 4x36=144
I need to come up with decent UX for a UI.
I guess I could spawn a 3x3 grid where you tap.
Ew, UI design
UI... em... um... CLI works, throw some nice box made out of ascii characters and it'll work
Ah yes because that's a good idea on Android.
Holy shit AI sound generation is incredible
We went from AI having no clue wtf to do with MIDIs just 3 years ago, to full on song generation
Sorry wrong channel.
Some very very very standard pop 😄
Still better than whatever Taylor Swift releases
To be fair I did ask it to make happy and bouncy pop out of it
Yeah fair enough, and it did it perfectly
I wonder how it handles more indie pop/dream pop/shoegaze elements
You want something generated? Gimme a prompt
i wonder howd it fair at EDM or eurobeat
I remember when Suno V2 came out and it did British drill incredibly well
need me some more jet set radio beats for sure
ill give it a listen
Oh man it's impressed the hell out of me
oh yeah its honestly pretty neat
dreamy, walking, psychedelic rock with two interwoven melodies that tell the same story in emotionally contrasting ways
Sure, seems interesting
Why do I have so many creds
I'm rich, boi
Oh this is so good wtf
I can't really hear two melodies though
Just one main progression
My internet just dropped so I'll listen after I make dinner
It gave me two outputs and second one has more elements going on https://app.suno.ai/song/f96f98b1-ab5f-49ab-883b-7749db67fd46
walking dreamy psychedelic rock song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
This one is a lot more psychedelic
Trending songs are amazing
Who tf made Lord's Prayer into hardcode electronic
Both of those results were impressive! Nailed the style and tempo, but struggled with its interpreting the bit on intertwining melodies as structure instead of topic
The prompt was engineered to fail though haha
Indeed, but that's something an artist would be able to do, I don't expect an AI to just suddenly be better than most artists hah
I had an idea, I'll feed a song into GPT, make an extremely detailed summarization, and feed that into Suno and see if it matches the original track in any way
I am a sucker for quality 1990s instrumental shoegaze and such songs are hard to come by
It was a good example of the limitations of generative AI with respect to comprehension vs association
Oooo this is so hypnotic, this is great, this is niiice https://app.suno.ai/song/0dbb6b9b-a81b-4885-b397-cb32a7901321
shoegaze instrumental experimental song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
This is what I love to listen to daily
Okay I am trying to make meme music, but it's just refusing to make the thing sound anything like elmo or kirby
However it just dropped me this banger here with a melody that's insanely good https://app.suno.ai/song/b239310f-ce49-48b1-98cc-0aba8fbeb0ca
Ay, it's pretty cool
https://app.suno.ai/song/0a8f5e69-88f6-4b2f-97e7-bf1085b8a78f/
Overall witch house is slow
But first attempt gave something close to 160bpm, and it sounded like speeding 300km/h on drugs
Yeah seems Suno is unable to speed up the vocals on demand or make them sound a specific way
I'm just getting mario themed rap by some random block kid pretending he's an italian plumber
you game with your numpad?
nah for work
Me and my friend bound stratagems in HD2 to numpad, that way we don't have stop moving to call in stratagems
then why a wooting?
just get a two lol
? I want the numpad to match my wooting 60he
no F row 🤑
XD
f pad
Single f key
why is my keyboard delaying so much recently?
its because you cant read channel descriptions
Have you guys seen this?
jfc what a PR nightmare.
I'm confused, did they mean EVGA?
If so, it is kinda sus that their new PSUs only have a 3 year warranty.
Company's gonna be dead in 3 years
XD
They're already a shell
With their gpu and mobo divisions gone
Not even updating the bios on their 13gen mobos lol
It's all been downhil for them for a while now. A real shame, used to be legends.
I'll argue
They've always been an average company
With just a good customer service
Their products have never been reliable and they've had issue after issue almost every gen
1070/1080's catching on fire and having thermal pad issues
20 series cooler issues
3090's with bad solder dying
Fair, but I'd rather an average product with amazing support than a good product with average or below average support.
I'd rather drug my nuts through broken glass than ever deal with ASUS.
It's funny I read EVGA is actually sitting on a lot of those in stock, they are reserved as replacements lol
Their reputation def is/was.
Evga stopped being a great company after like 2014-2015
When 10series launched it was the start of their downfall
I never owned any EVGA products but it almost feels like a cult classic whenever I see people talking fondly about them on reddit etc
Other than Noctua, I hardly see people who are such huge fans of a specific brand with pc components.
Sapphire/XFX on the amd side?
Whenever those 2 are brought up its because of their similar CS approach to evga's
Sapphire for sure.
XFX is fine but nothing special.
I almost bought a Sapphire+ 7900xtx, partly because it could fit in my case, partly because it looked the best and partly because like you said, lotta people swear by them,
Often they are just relatively cheap, XFX that is.
Their warranty service is good
Never had the displeasure of needing warranty support on my gpu, but good to know.
I used to work in a pc repair shop and well... dealing with parts still under warranty being returned to us by customers
I've seen a how lot of companies operate for their warranties xD
That is fair, how do the other board partners factor in here?
MSI here in Canada is pretty good also had a personal experience with them got a free replacement on an out of warranty mobo
My latest warranty headache is trying to return an RM100e from Corsair. I've settled on just buying a new PSU and then selling this one because it technically is completely fine. It just sounds like trash and is driving me crazy. I can hear it all the way across my house.
I know a lot of people shit on MSI because of their shady practices during the crypto times
I am an MSI fanboy because of this. Also in Canada. MSI I found their products always great, and if not, they fix it and make it right unlike ASUS or GB.
Most I hear people talk shit about is Asus nowadays
Especially for Mobos at least.
ASUS and GB are horrible
I avoid them on principle. When I built my last computer, a lot of people kept trying to make me spend less and go with a random ASUS or GB part, but am like nah I refuse to budge.
It may not be pc hardware but the worst company i ever had to do and rma for was
Acer
Holy shit
Acer was so bad
Asrock is also terrible to deal with
The only GB product I have is a monitor, but thats because I need the KVM feature. The only other brand that does it afaik is ASUS, so it was pick your poison moment,.
I have a gigabyte motherboard in my pc currently lol
Actually a long time ago I had to go through warranty with Acer, it went fine. but that was in the late 00's so there is that.
I had an msi mobo break and needed my shit back up asap
So got this gb mobo for cheap (it was 2021 and im on z390 so this board which was worth like 400$ at launch was on sale for like 175$ and no one wanted z390 back then) i didn't really care about warranty as i just needed something asap and this i could just go pick up locally
I don't often have to deal with manufacturer warranty, last time was for my PSU went to bequiet directly because I had to ship it to germany either way, and the store was more annoying to deal with, also went fine.
But generally don't need warranty often.
If I do, there is always the store.
But yeah that replacement msi mobo (that got replaced for free out of warranty) now lives in my dad's pc
Also fine in the case of BeQuiet was 2 weeks turnaround time, I had a perfectly fine back-up psu so there is that.
Couldn't be assed to swap out the gb and msi boards xD
As for what I currently use:
PSU: the replaced bequiet,
GPU: XFX
Motherboard Asrock
Monitors: 2x Gigabyte 1x Asus 1x Dell, all out of warranty.
this is why i have used silverstone for ages
they use pcie and eps pinout on both sides of those cables
and when they changed the 24pin pinout they physically changed the cable ends
but other than the 24 pin, all thier cables are the same
I guess here's my current setup:
Samsung Neo G9 monitor
9700k oced to 5ghz
Noctua nh-u12a
Z390 gigabyte aorus pro wifi
32gb corsair vengeance pro 3600mhz
Xfx 7900xtx merc gpu
Hx1500i corsair psu
also when they did change the 24pin they just added sens pins
that you can ignore if doing custom cables
they do use a standard 6pin pcie for the molex/sata
any opinions on the logitech g304?
Im planning on buying one but would like to know if it's worth the price
If you like it and it's in your budget why not.
they connect the 3.3 and 5v though the ground side of the pcie pinout
so you would only endup grounding out the pcie though the ground of the hdd
it looks good and its fairly cheap for what seems to be good performance.
I just wanted to know if anyone has had some bad experiences with it or something
which could damnage it, or more likely the psu wouldnt start
Isn't the g304 the asian variant of the g305?
I have a g305 and love it for my claw grip
Logitech is pretty solid
im asian so idk its available where im at
no delay or anything?
No
It works super well for me as i have a very aggressive claw grip
But i could see it work for a more relaxed claw grip too
To me its the comfiest mouse i ever tried
XD
like palm meters away from mouse?
@vivid vine got himself a g305 too after i recommende dit and loves it too
alright then, Ill probably get it this week.
SE 303 not thhe G305
I have a wired mouse and the wire colliding with other things on my desk is tiring me out
Wait you have a G305? @unkempt lake
welp
@viscid ember forget everything said my brain is just gone
I have the 303 se i'm just braindead
Im most likely still getting it
And mixed up 303 and 305 in my head
Yea G305 is a completely different mouse, the more budget gaming side of Logitech
takes actual batteries
Comes in cool colors tho
I actually prefer this.
Ah yes
Instant recharge and the battery doesn't degrade or bloat over time.
Well it does, you just replace it instead of replacing the mouse
What is that OC 😂 stock it boosts to 4.9
On a single core
Glad I could recommend it
@lyric hatch it's 4.6 on all cores stock
I'm running 5.0 on all cores
With no downclock during avx 2 instructions
Oh makes sense, you notice much of a performance difference
When running a 7900xtx and with newer games being more cpu bound absolutely
Just holding on till zen5 gets announced and released to upgrade 😛
Yeah I have the same cpu I'm not as bottlenecked though with my 3060 ti
I was running a 2080 before
So roughly what you're running
And yeah on a 3060 ti between 4.6 and 5.0 you wouldn't notice
Yeet
Yeah time for a whole system upgrade soon probably next gpu release
I mean in my case i play at 5120x1440
So my cpu bottleneck is only noticeable if i like use FSR to run a lower res or play at 1440p with black bars
Unless i play something like helldivers 2 or cyberpunk 2.0 PL
Planning on getting one of the new OLED monitors just not sure which one 🤔 that 240hz 4k 480hz 1080p is tempting
If you upgrade your gpu while staying on 1440p or 1080p (pushing for higher fps) you'll have to upgrade your cpu
If you want to push 4k therefore lower refresh and upgrade your gpu it shouldn't be too big of a problem
Yeah it's whole system upgrade time with next gen gpu release
Question is do you even need a new gpu
All depends on what you play
Like if you only play one or 2 AAA graphics pushing games a year
You can wait another gen probably
I play pretty much everything been waiting to play the new cyberpunk dlc for when I can properly run the game
I mean I can now but definitely can't with many RT effects turned on
Cypberunk and Alan Wake 2 is the reason I pulled the trigger on a 4090
Worth
In my case it was forza motorsports and alan wake 2 that pushed me to upgrade
I was running a triple monitor setup for racing games before
And well replacing it with a single 5120x1440 49inch monitor
Was super worth it
And i also got the 7900xtx
Cuz well 4080 and 4090 were just too expensive imo
Basically i got a display and a 7900xtx for the price of a 4090
Yeah not sure about a 4090 but I assume.the next gen 5080 equivalent will have similar performance for hopefully a little less but you never know with how the gpu market is rn 😂
GPU market is insane, who knows.
But hey, the 5000 series will come out, and people will say the same about the 6000 series.
My 1080ti lasted for what felt like forever. 3070ti aged like shit, so with the 4090 I figured in the long run I will save money by not upgrading as soon.
RX 480/580 was budget goat for a while
I mean buying 8gb of vram was dumdum
That's the big mistake
It was. But when I asked for advice I got a lot of cope about how that was more than enough.
My bad for asking people lmao
Techmology, what is that all about? Is it good, or is it wack?
But getting a 3080 and only having 10gb still felt like a scam. Also mind you I bought during the whole covid/scalping/mining craze so it was all I could find in stock after months of searching and even then I paid a premium for it.
I remember people telling me to get the 1080 ti for 150$ less instead of the 2080 back then and i didn't listen and I was glad i didn't
the fat vram of the 1080ti plus the crapshoot of pricing caused by mining ment the 1080ti was the stanard for high end for devs for a while
i got a 7900xtx as well fellow chads
on the pcbuilding discord there's a lot of bad advice.
2080ti and then 3080/3090 was dumb money
runs good as hell
To me paying 150$ for the dlss and dx12u seemed worth it as they were technonogies that had potential
i think upscaling is poop
Minecraft go crazy on 4090
I personally prefer to run native, but I like to use DLAA.
especially in games that still render ui and such at full res
Allows the card to still be a good card to this day
Along with dx12u
but 1080-4k is just intager scaling plus aa
Can anyone explain if it’s visually noticeable between 4K native vs 4K DLSS… like I can’t tell any difference rather than way better fps
yeah it looks like a lower res
It really comes down to cost but most people blindly suggest shit without taking context into consideration.
My husband is running my 2080 as a replacement for his 1660 i gave him my 2080 when i upgraded to the 7900xtx and it's still a great 1080p card
dlss has a ton of giveaways if you look
Also kinda crazy looking back
The 1080ti and the 2080 were the same perf at release
But the gap just grew overtime
I mean that's really up to you.
1080 ti performs closer to a 2060 in modern games
was wondering whether to play cyberpunk on Native or DLSS… but native cannot handle RT even with my 4090
huh?
Look at modern titles released this year
and in 1440p it's a mixed bag
Devs aint optimizing for pascal anymore
yeah I run 4K DLSS Ray Tracing on cyberpunk and get 100fps average
Also DLSS works better when your base frames are decent and you just wnat higher frames, if your base frames are unplayable then dlss won't really save you
not just for pascal lol, they don't optimize for anything anymore
4070 Ti
Accurste
esports maybe, def not AAA
1080ti will still do 60+fps in cp2077 pl
4090? 4090
It all entirely depends on what you're expecting. High graphics? More than 60fps? Then my 3080 is absolutely not enough for 3440x1440p
7900GRE
Not without some DLSS anyhow
1440p at >21:9 I’d suggest 4070ti minimum
Accurate PL is still optimized for pascal which is nice
What frames are you expecting? What games? What resolution? Do you care about ray tracing? DlSS? What's your PSU? What's your budget?
But most devs just don't bother nowadays
A used 6800XT is a great bargain these days imo
It's nice seeing how alan wake 2 got updated for it to work on pascal a month ago @vagrant pagoda
Gives hope for 1080 ti owners
Remedy are good devs
no one wants for 12gb
well if you want to use that monitor it’ll cost you for decent fps
Well what game struggles
Another question
and what fps does it get and what do u have rn
What's your current GPU?
Decent for console/poor people is 30fps
And runs on mid end hardware
Basically get the best thing you can with your budget, shop used.
Do you only want nvidia??
AMD is best buck for value
Nvidia is like Apple, high coz of brand but also best on the market
AMD value is better for mid range
I'll argue it all depends on his region
Sometimes amd is better value sometimes nvidia is better value
Country matters
Vega problems
how much is a 7600xt in your area?
Vega be like unstable piece of shit
Yeah AMD isn't that competitive in price where I live
AMD is a lot better for fps too than nvidia in general
Nvidia is 3D projects, AAA etc
VRAM?
...? Technically you're better off with nvidia for competitive fps shooters
Also I made the unfortunate mistake of buying a 5700 xt on release
Reflex babyyyy
how much is a 6700xt or 6800xt?
And are you looking at used or new for the 7600 xt?
Just getting an idea of your market
Well yeah, that’s why I have it
but mid/low range AMD boasts higher value for money
I paid 1200$ cad for a 7900xtx brand new
That's what i call good value
😛
Games will deffo require more VRAM, 12GB is solid
Even at the high end
Anti lag+ gotta be one of the dumbest things amd has put out
I paid £1,500 for 4090 geforce brand new 😁
I think they’re saying 2025 Q1 most likely
End of this year at the earliest
Paying 2500$for a gpu is a no for me
XD
Too much
But it massages my feet with warm air
It better for that price
And bring me pizza
My setup is like $6k
Can relate
I'm in the same ballpark
I use my computer all day every day and it's a thing I'm interested in so I don't feel bad about it.
I would never spend even $1K on a console for example
But on my PC I do a lot of things
I just like upgrading
My setup barely cost me anything, i just take scraps from @unkempt lake everytime she upgrades
When i have the budget
Getting hand-me-downs
Love it
its true
A dangerous drug. It all started with me wanting to upgrade my 3070ti and before you know it I had a new PC all built.
I browse, work, learn, game, mod and post memes. I know it’ll last 5-10years as it is so won’t upgrade for a while
Yeah exactly. If it was just for gaming I wouldn't spend even half as much on it.
If you’re always waiting for next GPU release your just gonna be waiting all ur life n never bootup
Monitors, power supply, gpu,...
I'm the youngest of 4 siblings, that's just my entire life
Yeah i started with 9th i5, then went to 9900k, swapped my 2060 to a 3060ti, then upgraded to a 4080, and then moved up to 12600k currently
I think if you can find a used 6800 XT it would be even better, but those 3 gpu's are mainly what I recommend.
Are you 2 furries or something btw??
Oh god its worse then i thought
Worth possibly considering a 3070/ti but 8gbs of ram just hurts in 2024. Isn't really an issue in 1080p though.
plenty for 1080p 240hz
Yes and we're also married
I was wearing clothes yes
Experimenting i see
Why
One of my exes was.
But it was mostly a thing for costumes I think. Any mask or costume was good for her lol
Well you guys are lucky you coulda ended up like nico, he wasn't a furry at first
She loved wearing ears and doing furry type things like cosmetics and noises
This is what happens when you get a furry gf
She turns you into a furry
And then you become furry husband and wife
Nico is what could have happenned to both of you @umbral veldt @sweet cairn
You guys may already be infected
And it's just latent infection
OwO
Someday you'll wake up and it will be too late
i hate you
Ive not seen a good looking furry woman ngl
Do you want my onlyfans

Bruh
I don’t pay for corn
but thor succeeded
Alternative timeline
nah you tripping
I mean without the outfit
Well yeah that's what I meant hahah
If a person wants to be/identifies as an animal is that the same as a furry
I was just about to say lmfao
In the summer/spring
I don't even turn on the heat in the winter man
Move to canada
God i wish
Ez fix
Canadian -57c got me dressing like a dog for convenience
Thatd be fun
If I became a furry I’d need a tatted up suit, y’all be too basic
Thatd go hard ngl
The fact you're thinking about it
Is sus
My entire body is tatted
Wanna get some tats myself
The things men do for GYATTS
Dw I'm in QC
I moved to another continent only to be cockblocked by a cat
Ain't planning on coming to BC @sweet cairn BUT if i had to pick somewhere that's not QC it would probably be BC
have yall got custom litter boxes

not too many appealing options in canada ngl
Killing me
If I spoke french I'd consider QC
That's why separation is the only solution
I’ve never seen a single furry ever in my country
btw what games did you mod? I forgot to ask when you mentioned
Be like Nico, Nico's a dane and moved here and learned the language
See if I was Nico i'd stay in denmark
Fun fact you can even get paid to attend french classes for free
Fr?
What's wild Is I USED to speak french as a kid. But as a teenager it just evaporated
He likes it better here than denmark also i had a career here so wouldn't have made sense to do the opposite

You conquered the land your ancestors tried to conquer
Danish torture device

Thats training
Training to traverse the flat country
exactly
But then you came here and discovered altitude existed
We got a mountain called THE HEAVEN MOUNTAIN which is a fucking hill
Been forever since ive been on a mountain
Altitude hurts my ears
Ear plugging altitude always not fun
Oh god you just reminded me of when I did a road trip across the country and my ear kept popping lmao
Himmelbjerget ("The Sky Mountain" or "The Mountain of Heaven") is a hill located between Ry and Silkeborg, Denmark in the area known as Søhøjlandet.
With an elevation of 147 m (482 ft), Himmelbjerget is one of the highest natural points in the Danish landscape. The hill and surrounding area has been a centre for various gatherings and celebratio...
Why am I always going up or down, whre is the flat land
Lol my hearing dmg makes that common with my hearing aids
But I like to downhill skateboard so a win is a win
Going through a park to the city from the airport here fucked up my ears
Danmark er bedre til et stille liv
🦅
I tried to learn but languages aren’t my forte
I was born with a potato stuck in my throat
I was destined to speak Danish
Evolutionary trait
well I used it back in like 2007 and almost nothing has changed since on the larger scale
did that guy really just say almost nothing about Linux has changed since 2007?
this is so wrong and its really funny
a friend in our group tried to switch but went back after finding out a significant amount of games we wanted to play just don't work or are super scuffed
became kind of a running joke that he would have to boot into windows before being able to play with us
Not as much as I hoped for
But it still makes this a far better purchase then the 7800XT
????
Wayland
Pipewire
Easy to use installers
Helluva lot more software and hardware support
Can actually game on it now
its not though, its made jack shit of progress with the mainstream userbase
its still a neckbeard OS
its still extremely difficult for the average user to use it efficiently
or figure out how to get all their stuff working
what the linux nerds/users has to say about it is unfortunately completely irrelevant because they are not the average user
these are things helpful to people already into the OS, its still not the slightest bit easier for people used to windows or mac os to figure out
so yes linux is more capable now than in 2007, but is it easier to use? no not in the slightest lol
pretty sure even linus torvalds said he cant see linux based OSs become a mainstream desktop OS unless theres a big shift in how things are done
the userbase is the problem essentially, a large portion of it doesn't want to see it become a pleb OS and takes pride in gatekeeping it
i use linux quite a lot especially from the cli but i still cant get over how unnecessarily obtuse the desktop experience is
yup, eventually what got me fed up with trying to bother as well
for a server I'd probably have more time for it
I mean there are reasons I dont use linux but pretending nothing got easier since 2007 is a bit insane when there are a decent amount of desktop options that work just fine for common tasks
the issue is that those desktop OSs like mint or ubuntu come preinstalled with those common things.. if you try to install more or find an alternative to what you saw in videos where its mostly windows etc its quite challenging
its better than in 2007 but still not on any level where it can compete with how easily macos and windows are used by a layman
yeah I'm not saying it works flawlessly but compared to 2007 you can very much just use those
the comparison was how it was in 2007 not vs current windows
But it looks like everything got worse since chromeos, Mac, and windows have improved faster and are all at a better place
even 2007 windows is several magnitudes better than a current linux desktop
imo it is the only real option for a server OS unless you use some business software that requires windows cause it only has builds for windows (bungled up german software ecosystems for example)
id still say that for a general use desktop OS almost nothing has changed
you'd have to dig around quite a bit to find those changes at least
http://josephbales.com
http://ubuntuforums.org
http://ubuntu.com
This is a simple introduction the the Ubuntu 7.04, Feisty Fawn, operating system. It is directed at those who are considering a switch from Windows, but do not know much about what Ubuntu has to offer.
even in 2007 it had the most common tools preinstalled
id say most of the changes are things you really need to work yourself into and know that they particularly exist
yep ubuntu and its deratives were well established by then
for example what lana mentioned with wayland and pipewire... the normal user doesnt even know what these are if you name them.
so if they google something particular to those but with very generic terms you quickly run into issues
lets say how to output sound on 2 headphones ubuntu
and suddenly you gotta know what specific software for this is actually installed
And windows does it automatically without you asking rofl
no?
but its easily googled
and the ui for the sound settings is virtually unchanged since XP
You haven't had to deal with default communication device?
i did but it doesnt duplicate audio output
windows apps can only send audio to one specific audio device
yes but i meant as in both headphones output the exact same audio at the same time
or even speaker/headphones or whatever combo
That would be useful
Something microsoft does on its own without asking (that we notice) often isnt
but the point is while linux distros may have a lot of under the hood changes that are generally good since 2007 till today... the desktop users experience is basically unchanged and just getting more complex everytime the under the hood software changes
No?
Plug in two headphones and only one will play audio
Read the rest of the convo
Not really
Desktops have gotten a lot lot easier to use now
Especially plasma and gnome
And budgie
In what way
Installing software is a lot easier now
Especially since most distro use Flatpak too
Just open the software app and search
Click install
ok how do i know what software to look for
ok so i watch a video on yt see a software that has functions i want and then just browse categories until i find a linux equivilant that sort of works the same
because for windows macos you can literally just google this
and itll give you 200 more apps
You can Google "office app for Linux" and it shows libre office, wpd, only office, etc etc etc
ok and then it says use apt
Or just go to the office category in the software app
and suddenly that app software thing is useless
It won't
It'll say use Flatpak
Yeh
great still useless then to have the software install thing
And you click download
It'll download the ref file
And you click to open it and the software app will open and you click install
yes will 100% work for all linux software
Quite a lot of most often used apps
And the list is getting larger each week
you know the same way downloading an exe and running it works for all windows apps
since years and years
lol
Dafuq is that app
Windows only software
Yeah
That ones an issue
It's only the most common tax prep software
the fact is the layman (so not you lana but a random person picked of the street) would just use google and youtube to find software that they wanna use and tutorials. and most of those will only exist for macos/windows. if there is a linux software it will most likely be either convoluted to install due to requiring bash scripts in the cli or such OR there will be no tutorials around (meaning they would prob not find it and try it)
Most people trying to install software even on Windows just type the app name into Google and go from there
So yeah
That doesn't always work on Linux. But usually the solution is easier
exactly and then its as easy as download 1 singular file and itll work
just ordered mine is the time accurate?
Quickbooks seems like it's got an online version but I've never seen anyone use it before
linux needs to change to accomodate literal deadsimple ways of 1 click installs basically
otherwise it just wont take of as a mainstream OS
That issue would be solved if all the apps were in Flatpak
Or AppImage
Those are simply download and install
No issues
i mean via googling
Yeh
Google
Go to app website
Download Flatpak ref or AppImage
Click it
Opens the installer
Click install
Done
just so we dont get an the install software store thing can do it then
even nicer would be adopting the macos approach but windows doesnt either so its ok
MacOS
Android
iPhone
Some windows users
They are all used to launching the software app and typing the name of the app and clicking install
That's how it works most of the time on Linux too
ngl
i never searched anything in a store in macos or android
i just go to google
google it
and click install
and its done
yes but i never actively open the store
and a yt video can literally put a link to the software in the description which might take me to the store but i never actively search in the store
That's an odd way to do so
Using a YouTube tutorial to install an android app from play store
thats how i always do it cause googling is way better as i can read reviews, watch videos etc
just as if id download an exe or such
all a store gives me is images and some text from the devs
no real user experience
also a lot of macos apps still use DMG files not the app store
(i prefer those anyway cause its free portable app versions)
you do what?
literally a search someone would do... the os name and a generic search
and with both windows and macos its very easy to install the software just from a search like this plus you get the benefit of often times seeing comparisons etc without going back and forth a lot
i see
id really hope for linux to get better with this in the next 10years or so as it would bring device prices down a lot
By at least 100 Euro yeah
They don't pass that discount on to consumers though
so for home editions not much saved but the laptops that come with pro by default could see quite a good discount
