pretty sure there is no standard as of today, maybe when everyone switches to nacs there will be
nah j3400 exists
but you are correct, there is not a single car on the road that supports it
no, tesla doesnt support nacs yet
Tesla is NACS lol.
nope
nacs is j3400
tesla has their own protocol for their own vehicles
while j3400 is compatible with nacs, as of today, teslas are not
including the cybertruck
OOS went to one of the charging manufacturers trying to deploy a real j3400 implementation, plugged in their cybertruck and it didnt work
thats great and all, but just because people confuse two terms, doesnt mean they are the same
one thing i can say with certainty, i wont be missing chademo lol
rarely fast charge anyways but the few times i do its a hassle
yea i didnt even bother getting a car with a chademo port
leafs here are all on chademo except maybe the newest one, ariya switched to ccs
on the older leafs, chademo was an option
you could chose to not get a fast charging port
yea there are enough chademo chargers here its just weird with two different types of ports on every station lol
ah i see
yea the old 24kwh leaf i had was actually imported from cali, wouldn't want to do that again
somehow it had rapid charging and chademo
thats fair
And I don't like leather seats but I wanted the 360 cameras
exact same i so prefer the fabric ones, i got 360 too on this one, just missing out on the bose speaker system and a few other things ill never use
yea have the 62kwh now
yeah i remember, uncle had the leather option with the upgraded screen, while ours was a non touch type display
I bought a f150 lightning electrical
in hindsight maybe it'd be better to upgrade because of the heatpump, thing barely kept us warm in the winter
Love it
awesome
ah yeah thats how it looked like
lol 360 is really nice though, makes parking a lot easier
do you have blindspot detection too?
Nay
ah
That wasn't an option yet
i see
Very sad that the aptera won't have a 360 cam option
oh wow, maybe it'll come later on? i hope so
i dont know if i can go back now, having tried a 360 cam
Same
well i dont know when exactly aptera is set to launch but possibly in 25, so not too far away from 26
me parking my f150 confidently
this looks oddly american, that sign is in english isnt it lol
Launching 24, should finish the 2000 investor vehicles early 2025
Nice! Feels good that Ford is also adopting NACS.
oh sweet, excited for the reviews, especially range test
nice, dont think the aptera is a car that needs super fast charging anyways
Will you ever put things in the bed
Or did you get a pickup for no reason
Like do you have an atv or a snowmobile?
Dude I wanna retire early on my homestead. Planning to use the thing to haul shit
I cant imagine other car
Good
Too many people buy pick up trucks to never haul anything
Or put anything in the bed
Capacity not charging speed
They are trying to get higher speed but also not add too much weight
They also confirmed 6.6kw inverter on all models, 66 mile per hour charging on ac
Yeah pickup truck is basically useless if u live in city/appartment
People dumb
oh i see missed the h, well 45kwh with their claimed range would be hilarious, im rooting for them
Nah I use mine to haul dirt bikes, mountain bikes, camping gear, furniture etc
charging is plenty, thats around my home charging stations speed, charges up just fine overnight
Just hauled 400lbs worth of mulch for the yard last week. 😂
u can put all bikes on top of regular car no?
appartments dont have yards!!
Im sure you can, but i mean motorized dirtbike, so no lol
Not dirtbikes
Or you have a bed to stand on lel
Or not a high car
Those are super common in nl.
If it's weekend, kinda decent weather and you're on a highway.. You see lots, with 2 bikes. Electric bikes usually
AMD's Infinity Fabric On-Package has been used since Zen 2 in 2019, it's time for a change! In this video we will discuss next-gen interconnect and packaging rumored to be introduced with Zen 6, including silicon interposer, silicon bridge and organic RDL technologies.

Foll...
Got this recommended
zen 6 🤨
yeah zen5 is just the same packaging wise
that is just waiting to be released
6 will not use the same io die or packaging anymore
Hearing about Zen 6 makes me want to delay the upgrade I am planning from Zen 3 5900X to Zen 5's x800X3D
However no doubt then Zen 7 will be on the horizon
5 x3d likely isn't out till Q1 next year
6 is in 2026
also 6 could be on a new platform that costs more
and internally they are working on zen 8/9 so feel free to wait till next decade xD
I would not fixate on one generation / chip. Just wait for it to happen. I remember waiting for Bulldozer and get a 3570k instead. Whenever you feel a sufficient leap has been made and the need arises, it's time to upgrade.
yeah in the end even the most accurate leak is just a leak
and even lets say zen5 is 50% better, the price might make you still not want it xD
mostly should be used to gauge if it makes sense to wait some weeks if you aren't in a hurry to upgrade
Either way generally over the last 2 generations the x3d chips have proven to be worth the wait but even that is not certain to always hold true.
well the only thing that could happen here is the base version is soo good the x3d bonus isn't worth to wait for xD
if the base ipc only improves a little bit the cache will still lift the same amount
That does not mean the price will be right though
oh yeah
Worst case: china attacks taiwan and we get the mother of all chip shortages
think then we have slightly more issues than just a new pc xD
Not likely but just to name an extreme
I am just saying it, there are always outside factors that can happen too. Natural dissasters, booms and so forth.
yeah but then you can also start thinking about how that affects your ability to get bread next week so it's not really worth considering after all xD
Highly likely not to be
Maybe but noticable shocks have been somewhat common in some regularity, so it is something to take into account looking further into the future.
it's really up in the air at this point
I mean, my platform do you mean AM6 or so or 700 series chipset
AM5 will prolly survive till Zen 7
ok but that's not really relevant
if they need a new socket for technical reasons it doesnt matter if the previous socket had 17 gens
They did promise longevity with AM5, so I expect at least 2 more arches on AM5
they promised support through 2025
I do believe AMD sees value in keeping the platform for as long as possible. It certainly hasn't hurt their sales.
Board partners also seem on-board with continuing to sell old motherboards.
But yea once there are good technical reasons to switch they will.
it helps but if they make a new platform and then show improvements people arent going to be as mad as intel where new platform but new gen is just the same happened so often
but there is just 0 chance zen7 is still on the same platform xD
Well Zen 7 prolly not
Of course, it's not just about people being mad, it's about it generally boosting sales.
Older people upgrading cpu's longer motherboard production runs lowering costs and so forth.
DDR6 seems like such a point where moving to a new chipset makes sense, as AMD has generally preferred a clean switch over supporting 2 versions at the same time.
Zen 4, 5 and 6 I hope will be on AM5
z6 would fall into the ddr6 release time so that would be one reason
Wasn't it a while after DDR5 was released that it was even adopted?
it just depends on how it's designed for
is that bait?
GDDR7 is already in production, and rumours are that RDNA4 will not use GDDR7
Tech just takes a while to adopt
Zen {number} is the micro architechture of the ryzen chips

And I don't think DDR6 is yet released or I haven't heard of it, so when it goes into mass prod it's like what, +2-3 years until a motherboard with such support comes out?
that doesn't matter if rdna4 was designed so the extra gains from gddr7 wouldn't be worth the delay they wont use it
if zen6 is made with new IO design and would benefit from ddr6 it could be worth adding some months of validation for it
Would you be able to make it low latency by stacking it on top of the CPU die?
you would be able to make it overheat the chip below it quite fast
Cause it'd be kinda cool to have a combined CPU - RAM - GPU - VRAM product
But you'd prolly need it to be threadripper sized
in fantasy world maybe not in whats possible with physics
Well, Strix Halo is already halfway into that
Wait a second, what will Strix Halo's VRAM be
It's not going to have any on its die so nothing fast like GDDR6
lpddr
So it'll just take VRAM from the RAM like a normal iGPU?
But that's far slower than GDDR
it's a normal apu just bigger
Memory bandwidth will definitely be a major bottleneck
Strix Halo could be a product that would have great benefit from on-die VRAM
probably not
it's still an apu not a flagship that is memory starved
It'll have an insane amount of GPU CUs on the level of mid-range GPUs
VRAM speed at that point seems like a major concern
LPDDR5X isn't that fast
you also arent going to clock it like a dgpu if the entire chip has a lower tdp than navi33
n33 is 190w
It's like 40W-120W
and that isn't really a bandwidth starved gpu
so you lower it by 70W, then you remove the power used by the other parts of the SOC
and you end wiht like half the power budget
I suppose if 780M can play games at 1080p medium at acceptable framerates, just slapping 4x more CUs could push it to 1440p high
Strix Halo is just super exciting, even if it's a mobile product for whatever reason
There's a market for APUs that are that strong, they could make a lot of money by selling one for 400ish
the laptops it will be in will be a lot more so it's worth it for that, then if that sells you will see more
but just like the current 8700g and co, for desktop it's cheaper to get a dgpu at that level still
Even if it's mobile only, some peeps will still stick it into a NUC
yes something like that will probably be the way if its coming in any non laptop variant
Am I the only one who cant turn on Tachyon mode? After I turn on this mode only few keys work.

the first camera was an entire building lol
@astral haven how's the s24u treating you?
yea its a popular phone
But I guess you'll less likely to have qc issues
Mine is perfect luckily
No green line or hue
they wont have had time to change anything
Ah rip
I need to get a new case for mine, the samsung silicone one attracts so much lint and dirt
The only question is if I want/need magsafe
peak design case hasnt released yet 😦
Do those case allow the phone to lay perfectly flat on a table?
yep
Ooo
has a mechanical lock as well as magnetic, tho the magnets arent fully magsafe compatible
I was looking at magbak cuz you could use magsafe assessories and the s-pen at the same time
yea, my problem is magsafe wasnt strong enough, peak design is much stronger
Are you locked into to their ecosystem?
pretty much
Ah damn
yea 😦
love how it's hand-cranked too
oh wait that's just to change the angle
thomas edison probably died by inventing this thing and having it fall on him
man it looks wicked even with the lights turned off

Here is your list that you wanted to discuss:

Dec 2022
May 2023
June 2023
I listed this as wrong because MTL not being Ocean Cove was known well before this...
oh wow large embed for a post lol
happy they went to that effort so noone else has to
will be so funny to look back at the end of the year about both his ARL and zen5 "leaks"
Rip
@astral haven i couldn't do it
I no longer use g shift
I died so freaking much because I kept pressing where I bound gshift to finish an enemy in end game content.... They'd just be confused and stomp me 😅
Rip
Another headphone jack removed another smaller box
it arrived!
colors are messed up wow
wow the charging hasnt changed either
im not surprised tho i guess
Actually id bet this is just srgb clamped
Holy smokes the buds2 pro are excellent
something something thanks akg
I'm comparing against wired iems in the same price range tho
Also Harman tuned
Truthear nova
yea
I mean against "real" IEMs they will fare worse
but against other TWS ANC buds it gets hard
They are holding up real well tho!
Nah I'm using nova in 1 ear and buds pro in the other
Besides the audio sync it's fantastic
Under duress I wouldn't be able to tell which is which
Assuming you added a cable to the buds pro lel
meanwhile I use qian39s
Whatever floats your boat tbh
earbuds are great for at work
since they don't blend out my enviroment
and transparency modes sound kinda ass to me
have not tried airpods but I got not compatible device anyways
Sure
On the other hand tho, iems are great for my work since they get rid of my environment lel
yea I need to know when I get a call lol
I got a softphone lel
Get rekt
closest you get is a dialer software + a headset connected to your handset
how the fuck does one find a specific potentially obscure tracker song
I got an epos 5066 and it is pretty good
It just doesn't switch very fast
am i going to render the entirety of modarchive to compare against
I got a mivoice office 400
am i going to parse instruments’ notes and compare that
what if the root note is wrong
wow i hate thinking about this
The 5066 is a headset that you can connect to a rj11 or 22 and a pc
You can also connect Bluetooth devices
Yes after a while a/b ing these, the differences are becoming apparent, but it's hard to describe
Only issue I'm having is I can't seem to get multipoint working
Ah shoot these don't have multipoint
Rude
multipoint?
Simultaneous connection to multiple devices
ah
Eg personal and work phone allowing work to call while im listening to music or yt
It still has to switch, but multipoint on my wfxm4s is super convenient
I doubt anyone cares what generative AI changes in Indonesia lol
These don't seem to belong on a conventional PC motherboard
Wonder where do they stuff these
try searching by length
or open in a tracker and look at the names of the instruments, those often have credits in them
Hi, could someone send me close up images of the back of the Wooting PCB?
also what's the song, I'm curious
Of...what model?
Lot of choice there as well as revisions depending on what exactly you're asking for.
What do you need it for? There's like 3 revisions of that or more.
I’m making making a DIY HE board + AMOLED project and would like to see what Wooting is using under the hood for some of the important ICs (mcu, analog muxes, etc)
Aerogel becoming useful
yeah outside of the home screen the colors look good, HDR video on youtube looks just as good as the S23U
dunno about the s23u but they look better than the s21u lel
wtf the pro 2 should have that feature?
oh booooo, it only works between samsung devices
would need a galaxy book or a tablet
yea so its not multipoint
I really enjoy my buds FE with the "Clear" eq preset
harmon bass sounds a bit too boomy for me
in red are my current daily drivers lel
i only have the rendered copy is the problem
searching by length is a nice start, though
let me have a crack at it, maybe I can find it
and bpm, probably
what’s annoying is i’m not sure it’s a tracker song at all
but it very much sounds like it
Wonder how it looks on passive mode
can you send it to me?
Vivid with temperature set to full cool looks best to me
Hope they make a real vivid available tho
this probably was an engineer getting reamed by his boss because they kept getting complaints from people saying colors are too vivid, and the engiuneer said fine ill make it perfectly accurate

yea
i pressed the update button as soon as i saw that but no dice lol
I've got screen mode on Natural on the S23U
Also why would one get the Buds Pro 2 instead of some cheaper TWS?
define cheaper
why would anyone not get galaxy buds for their galaxy phone
1more comfobuds pro
i paid $11 for my buds2pro i think?
🤑
when you preorder a galaxy phone, they give you a bunch of accessories
what did you get extra? cuz the spending credit should have covered all of it
Is there anyone here who can help me build my Wooting 60HE+ module
Idk how to set it up
i also got a smarttag2 and a case
ah, which case?
Don't know if there was any pre-order deal here with the Buds
samsung gives you a credit that you can put towards anything samsung, and many devices were price reduced
i got $150 credit, and the buds used something like $120 of it
i needed a case and a tag, but i didnt need anything else they offered
Yeah can get like €200 off on the phone and -20% on some extras and some €50 coupon
now
but how about a month ago
The preorder deal from samsung here was kinda eh, 100 usd extra if you trade in, 50 otherwise, and 512 gigs for the price of 256, 1tb was discounted a little too
Some third party store strangely gave you buds for free but not samsung directly
i could say that i got the buds for free and paid 11 for the case or tag
Its a cool gadget but i dont see a point
True
But seriously besides emulating keycards and being a cool universal remote
I'd struggle to find a use for it
I mean could be fun to code small projects for it i guess
But idk its like 250$
And why use that when you can use a raspberry pie
Also i'd rather put that 250$ towards new pc parts lol
Hey guys just quick tip here , kbdfans actually have a aliexpress store if you didn’t know if ur outside the US i recommend ordering through that if you want a product from them got mine to Middle East free shipping and 10 day shipping, arrived today packaging is very good you dont have to worry about aliexpress shitty packaging
I kinda want one, replicate my university key card with it lol

Updating bios is such a hassle though
Idk if I care enough
Local attack or remote attack
Is the big question
"However, any attack would require local access to the affected system, meaning that it would take an especially vigilant attacker to exploit the vulnerability. "
so not worth giving a fuck
Dont plug in shady usbs
"Matthew Connatser", I wouldn't even bother reading that.
^
"The vulnerabilities, which compromise the security of the SPI interface that connects to the flash chip that stores your BIOS..."
Much security, very vulnerable
We are SO back 😳
all these crazy bios exploits blabla when people just click on scam links or by accident
my pc isnt an iranian uranium centrifuge
code execution in uefi! imagine that!
it’s almost like we always had bootkits
@umbral heron Oi darling, do you by any chance specialize in VMs?
I have ran a few VMs by now but all of them were always rather.. 10FPS or so?
Is that like, the VM experience or should it run like native
When I used KVM on Linux to make a Windows VM with GPU pass-through it ran pretty much like native
I never had more than 15fps in VirtualBox though
And I don't really know how Microsoft Hyper-V experience looks like
Yeah I am with HyperV
Though I had a similar experience running Linux Mint through VMWare, it just wasn't anywhere near native
I suppose I might just have misconfigured VMs, disabled features or something on my BIOS
Or Hyper-V is just slow
are we talking hyperv on a normal os or their hyperv server versions
Normal OS
oof
Ah so I'm guessing it's not great
well
sub optimal id call it. their windows server hyperv editions are serviceable as they cut out all the DE and WM stuff that makes windows kinda shit and also a lot of other services etc.
ideally youd run some linux with kvm or ESXi
if you run a single windows vm on hyper-v server its identical
It shouldn't be that slow though
Maybe try tinkering with GPU Partitioning? Really cool feature, thanks to Windows running underneath
Dunno how it works with AMD/Nvidia GPUs, since they don't allow for SR-IOV for some reason
What's GPU partitioning, never heard of it
hyper-v is pain for gpu virtualization
idk my experience was quite better on hyper-v server running a few windows and linux servers under it
after we switched from the host being windows server
we gained a ton of IOPS in the disk department
🤷 its the exact same kernel
GPU-P, allows for allocating some of your GPU resources to VM
i mean theres some difference since the VMs were configured identical
it was just free perf increase
HyperV doesn't even mention anything about GPUs
but was it the same version?
It just allows to allocate CPU cores
both were 2019
yea but was it a fresh install of both?
yes
well thats screwed up
theres no way for there to be a difference besides different config or minor updates
Especially since idk how Hyper-V even allocates GPU in general, there are no options unlike VMware which did let me tweak GPU allocation
idk i couldnt pin point any difference except the base image
gotta understand that enabling hyper-v on regular server causes you to boot the full fat hyper-v kernel, and your main os becomes a high priority primary vm
im aware that it changes how the windows environment is setup but... i tell ya we got free perf out of nowhere
i only even tried this because we had perf issues i never had before
why did you set both up at the same time?
wouldnt you just take the 2019 server you had in production and test against a new hyper-v server install
well we had 2 servers to be setup the same for 2 different companies
I haven't really looked into it either, I can tell you all about KVM and VirtIO, but not about Hyper-V
but ran into a wall with a DMS/NAS solution to be setup on both
interesting
How do I install KVM on Windows
disk speeds just never reached what they should so we reinstalled 1 on hyper-v server
and that somehow fixed it
san > nas change my mind
interesting
well the customer insisted on synology cause they used it before
so i set it up in a vm after alot of pain getting that to work
surprise surprise they dont like their os running on non synology hardware
yea :/
yeah i also basically just gave up researching it cause at that point i wasted like 2 days on this
so i said fuck it and just used hyper-v server directly since then
although it did mean we could charge extra on future stuff cause now we also sold a management pc with a windows desktop to be sat in the server room to manage hyperv locally
i wish i could have pushed for a linux host system
but my boss was scared of it
Tbo windows vm on kvm has always been a pain
It's really not worth the hassle unless you have a damn good reason
Hyperv is just as good, and modern windows server isn't as bad of a resource hog
for gaming, kvm is far more versatile
Yeah I've mained looking glass for years
its been a while, but i managed to brick a windows install trying to set up a gpu vm so badly that an overinstall didnt even fix the issue and i had to do a full disk wipe
just 1 messed up powershell command...
nowdays there are plenty of folks who daily proxmox systems with a primary windows vm for gaming
"innovation"
all I see is a razer pcb shoved into what looks like 3 layer lines with a 2mm nozzle
yep
lighter...and even more fragile than the Zerømouse already is
it's not going to snap the moment you touch it
but parts can flex and snap easily if you aren't careful
on the PMM thing...I'd probably damage it in use

I'll admit the main thing preventing me from getting the PMM isn't the probable fragility of it
but the damn cost
holy shit
the Zerømouse wasn't even half that
but they bump up the cost of the mice too
it makes a goddamn M3K competitive in terms of pricing
already confirmed they don't cover headband damage
can get a Viper V2 pro much cheaper than rn
and they probably get a bulk discount of some kind
kek, 100$ for a mouse you only are pulling the pcb out of
I got my V2 Pro for something like 115 of the kanukhistani kopek
hey guys, trying to figure out what monitor to get. my 240hz 1080p 24inch died on me, so im trying to decide if a 1440p 27inch 240hz would be better? however considering im only on a 3070ti it wouldnt run 240fps on warzone 2/3, which as of now is my main game however I do play CS and apex. Would 1440p be that much better for clarity at spotting enemies further away? or is 1080p fine and the extra hz worth it. i consider myself fairly competitive however not e sports level obviously.

Nice
nice
I mean this blocked an EU L
quite a massive one as well
not saying i dont want e2e but im interested in seeing what Ls the EU has produced
because in recent memory i only have Ws like GDPR, the iphone appstore thing, usb-c thing and now e2e
Could argue them not considering iMessage big enough to stop the green bubble thing is an L
if only i could...
But it’s also not as big as in the us here
was about to say apple doesnt have the same market share in the EU
and the apple users here still just use whatsapp
It’s not about phone market share it’s about how much less people use iMessage here
yes but a big part is also well... they dont have a big market share to begin with
android users bully the apple users into whatsapp even if they tried using imessage
"yo why tf are u sending me a sms"
exactly
i dont even know when the last time is i got an SMS or send one not from/to a company
prob when i still had my 3310 or maybe even still on my LG KP500
I still use SMS on a daily basis
i only use discord/slack/whatsapp
sms is purely for receiving codes from the few sites that still only do that
real
real
or receiving spam (although i havent gotten any in years)
but yeah first sms i have on my old phone is from signing up on discord
la lot of ios users do
even though they don't know it

love it
isnt it only sms if they dont send it to another ios user
idk
i thought for apple to apple its internet messages
blue bubble?
it uses e2e so
technnically it would be possible to send an sms from one iphone to another
lol
but yeah sms i never did because it always cost me money when whatsapp got introduced so everyone just used whatsapp
heck i wrote the dutch railway guys via whatsapp cause i saw an issue on a track
Hm... I had free SMS since I can remember
and did they care
yeah
ofc they do
this isnt the US afterall
so public transport is quite a serious business and very well maintained
back when whatsapp was still new here they used to cost money here
which is how whatsapp got so big so fast
they responding with the
na that said thank you and have a nice weekend. this was atfer they asked for a picture of the issue and me just sending it to them.
for context it was a wall leaking water from the water canal behind it
sounds like the german way yeah

no

no for real, when is mittag
noon
for me mittag is 12
that is the joke
it is a joke okay
a german joke
because they open from like 9am to noon
eh my uni has way worse times
yea but you don't need to go to work every day when you need to go to uni
i mean if said viertel 5 id not be confused why youre confused that i mean 4:15
that is just the bad way to say it 💀
but i did believe 12 bis mittag is a more well known joke thing to say in germany
highly regional you mean
i just didnt realise it was a joke because you said yes
its how everyone in my home town and region says it
no, the switch is just a magnet
any magnet would accomplish the same long as it trips the hall-effect sensor
So I can just use any keycaps or switch and Wooting will still be fast as hell?
Keycaps yes switch no since if they don’t have the right magnets they won’t work
Kk
yeah long as the switch is compatible, like raptor or jades
It just read on the website its not possible because of the missing magnets in other switches.m
Yes that’s why fleimi said as long as the switch is compatible aka is using a magnet as well
Current state of affairs of me trying to work with RPi's Wi-Fi
That bad?
I'm currently trying to talk it into compiling a driver for external dongle
3h in and no results so far
Calslock right now
Add hammer in hand and it will be spot on
Why’s he disguised as mansen though
Because he likes to use the
emote haha
I don't know what are you talking about

easy fix: use ethernet
if you really cant id fallback to wifi cables instead of wifi
if that supports POE, that might be possible

If it was up to me, I'd certainly use ethernet
And unfortunately RPi doesn't have POE
just get a poe adapter/hat
something like this is pretty cheap
If I could use the ethernet there wouldn't be an issue whatsoever
But it'll be mounted in a room where there's only wi-fi, and corpo's wi-fi is WPA3, which RPi's outdated broadcom driver doesn't support, and so... now I'm here
At least I know my dongle works with WPA3, so it's just a matter of setting it up (hopefully)
at that point it might be worth it to wire it via an AP
That was my first idea too, set up AP, bridge to wi-fi, connect everything there, done
But networking team was... a bit less enthusiastic about this
unsurprising
and a custom compiled driver with potential security issues is better?
wha
i dont get how this is the better solution
I dunno
Thankfully this one seems to be working just fine with my dongle https://github.com/RinCat/RTL88x2BU-Linux-Driver
Raspberry still hasn't decided on enabling experimental RTW88 support, so it's currently the best I can do
can the eu now mandate a lossless audio codec that all wireless audio devices have to use
and also make all audio streaming services stream lossless for no additional cost

if yall vote me into eu parlament ill make it happen
deezer
deeznuts
tidal
it's so easy to rip music from there
ik the existing options lol
kinda just want spotify to upgrade
cuz its the best service imo
I should really get tws buds that support better codecs, feel kinda stupid carrying flacs around on my phone when my buds do only the basic codec, whatever it's called
sbc
thank
which can is quite decent in newer bluetooths
I've been looking at the sonys second hand but so far didn't pull the trigger
should really look into them more to figure out what I wanna get
Deep dive into the
ok but my phone does not have that
or the buds anyway, dunno how it works
just standard sbc
I switched away bc it wasn't able to recommend new things after a while
Deezer also stopped recommending anything new after a while, now I use yt music and it's been great

what this tells me is that less enthusiast peeps run gpuz
Gemini was a bit disappointing initially
But I hope it'll improve massively
tbh I think it's more server using it for validation and those more often use nvidia
what servers would use gpu-z for validation?
gpu-z validation is for hwbot and other oc which is mostly enthusiasts

Cat ate SO's headphone cable.
Suggestions for a "gaming headset" with a removable cable (or wireless USB C charging) and (preferably) a removable mic?
Her old Corsair headset has proven tough to replace.
Beyer dynamic Mmx200
Audeze Maxwell
Wireless/Wired depending on need
You know, I know you have the skills to fix the thing yourself, solder on a new cable.
I once soldered the middle of an audio cable
it worked for a while, though soldering enamel wires was a pain in the ass
judging by the outfit, they are hiring genuine animes to do the work
you can buy entire mainboards they made with scavenged chips, they can't be beat for their hustling skills lol
Uhh @young pecan
Remember ages back we talked about 1 million+ token context length
It's.. kinda here
Maxwell, or get a modmic and put it on like a 6xx or some other proper headphone
Modmics can easily be removed
I like my G733 as a cheaper option. It can often be found on good sales and it has 30 hour battery life and is super lightweight + mic is removable. To me that matters
If you want something more expensive then go with something more expensive like headphones with a modmic or audeze maxwells
It all depends on what you need really
If she's happy, you're happy
What's important is making sure her priorities are met, she may not be a crazy audiophile. I feel like a lot of people here won't take that into account, clearly she was happy with her old corsair headset
You should stay in your lane and leave audio for others
You're an ass
Literally
It couldn't be any other way
I have the right to give my opinion on something
You may disagree with me but everyone has different priorities in life
And the way you behave is childish
And buy ewaste with a shite V curve that's unlistenable? No thanks
What else is new
I'm Vex, it's my job
You shouldn't take pride in that
I'm just honest to a fault
No you're kinda just an asshole
Didn't ask
That he is
Didn't have to
You did by behaving like a child
She may not be an audiophile, but buying something that is quality and won't break on her matters more, just simply stating
Grow up
Didn't ask you either
You're in a public discord, you can face the criticism
Dw I'm just having fun
Yeah, I know
My polish brother/sister
Nah you're just making an ass of yourself
Didn't ask
I mean i've had that headset for a few years and it has endured hell and back so durability wise it gets a pass
And repairability wise swapping out the battery was very easy
And I didn't ask for you to tell me to stay in my lane
Oh that was just some heartfelt advice, no hard feelings
Anyways this is boring, I'm back to grinding
No it's called every single time someone doesn't tully agree with your "audiophile expert" opinion you behave like a bitch
Not the first time you've done this and it sucks ass it's childish behavior
Still talking eh
I was wrong about how IEMs are measured once, and he came hard over being certifiably right once. this may be a good opportunity to advertise the use of the block button, a criminally underrated feature on discord
You came back for it
Shows that you value my opinion ❤️
Enough to repond to it
Nah I'm not going to entertain you, just looking for some tech posts to direct the conversation to
For tech enthusiasts who are constantly on the hunt for the most powerful hardware and the highest scores in all benchmarks, the Steam Deck OLED is likely to be a disappointment. On the other hand, those who simply want to play games will be rewarded with a device that is intended precisely for gaming.
yeah that's not fun, that's just being nasty to others
https://www.redbullracing.com/int-en/cars/rb20/ Adrian Newey has probably designed yet another fast one, the engine cover looks ''crazy'' 😅
The free case I got with my s24u is starting to peel already 😬
lol wtf 😆
It's one of those silicone rubbery case
I do like how it's very rigid on the sides
But it's a lint and dust magnet
Is it some random brand case?
No the official one
Ok 😅
install Rhythmbox music player
"hey this actually works, why did I never use it much?"
no way to sort by album artist
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/253167
feature has been requested since 2008............... bye bye
Kind of seems like part of the bare essentials for a music player.
Hmm. Interesting picks but maybe a bit much for her budget.
I miss being a tech reviewer. Accessories was the one thing Corsair and friends just threw at us to cover in any sense.
Strawberry Player, I can highly recommend
That's a correct choice for a music player on linux
I am unfortunately assburgers about UI consistency, but I will give it a try regardless
That is by far the weakest point of strawberry for sure
you can at least make it follow the default qt theme for the most part
I like Quod Libet with a few asterisks, but it draws toolboxes over other, full screen windows, so it gets the axe now
mään I tried to look for banshee, it's been abandoned since 2014 lol. I remember it sucking anyway. still, so many projects with identical goals getting started, and if they are not dead within a few years they still miss essential features for an organized library...
holy shit, strawberry. I have not seen explicit OSSv4 support in a DAMN long time
Is how mine looks, fine for me.
HyperX Cloud Alpha is ''decently'' priced, it's €71 here
And so it begins...
Updating doesn't take too long most of the time
speaking from a couple 100 gb music directory on a 6tb mirrored btrfs volume over sshfs
Cloud Alphas are... ok
Good build on those, sound is bleh, acceptable
Yeah don't know the budget but they're usually good enough, fixing the cable is one alternative too
Could look into Beyerdynamic MMX100 if MMX200 or higher are too expensive, those are under 100 or so
The MMX 100 is €79 here
I may have some hangups about the UI but strawberry is
Just wondering why are you using the transcoders?
When I still needed transcodes I just had a shell script transcoding my whole library to move it to my phone.
Moving to a larger micro-sd has made that redundant
I always saw transcoders inside music players like that as a redundant feature.
if I do that, I will have very little space left on my phone, and I need that for work/photos
Still is your music player the best place to transcode? or are there better dedicated solutions?
I used to have foobar2000 do all that work for me, I would transcode everything that's lossless and copy everything lossy, using the same folder structure
worked remarkably well, but it looks like I need to advance to shell scripts too now 😛

Basically my script, made simplified versions to copy the few files that were not flacs next to it, because I was to lazy to make it all one script.
If I were to make this again I wouldn't just write it in shell, and could very well leverage ffmpeg instead of directly interfacing with opusenc.
hrm, this is way above my skill level but I will copy it regardless, thanx
as an aside, I prefer the old ReplayGain volume adjustment style over the newer EBU 128 or what it's called. I don't suppose you know a way to scan these? I'd use foobar2000 but the package I compiled from the AUR (on ubuntu lol) works incredibly unstable, so I need to switch to native tools finally
I like using musicbee, but eventually I want to transfer over to plex for self hosting
actually this script is very readable, I think I can customize it
weird reading about beyerdynamic here after i just ordered a headset from them
Mt. Beyer
I kind of like how tacky this UI is
Nyan cat
worxx for me if I launch a soundtrack from the library
but I didn't know it existed before you mentioned it just now
80 kbps CBR mp3, good job
Even has its own little menu
musicbee looks quite clean and modern without being dumbed down, very cool
I just checked back if my first ever true "audio player" still works. I present to you, Billy version 1.04 from 2005-ish. it supports only flac and mp3, and no tags, or libraries. but it still worx fucking perfect lol
I love how Firefox just doesn't know what to do with media players when I take control over ALSA in Strawberry
wut you don't use pipewire?
Sure do
Just straight to sound card in Strawberry via ALSA
it's also quite customizable in terms of layout, whether you prefer a more album art based layout like I have setup
or a more text based one
Speaking of Mozilla, some sad news happened today https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/mozilla-pivots-to-ai-integration-in-firefox-amidst-5-workforce-reduction/ar-BB1ikHC7 https://gizmodo.com.au/2024/02/mozilla-layoffs-metaverse/ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/mozilla-is-backing-off-its-security-and-privacy-services-to-focus-on-firefox/ar-BB1ihN6m
Layoffs, project cancellations and AI
Idk what Mozilla is doing
They are a non-profit, why are they doing the same thing bigshots do
who are these people that always come up with this shit
refocusing in the browser whoo wee
not sure how them being non profit matters for having to lay off people if projects get scrapped or dont have funding
if the money isnt there it's not there
Oh, sure
WebUSB support? PWA support? Nah, it's not secure
AI? You son of a bitch, I'm in
a non profit still needs to chase what brings in people unless they are doing work for free
I have to ask, why do that when PW hardly fucks with the audio at all
Dunno, just wanted to try how it works
Also it's nice that it connects straight to the dongle
fair! and yeah, ALSA str8 to device is the most direct way on probably any system rn
unless you're on OSS with freebsd and pipe audio directly to /dev/whatever-audio-device, because OSS is based and epic
Last I checked focusing on AI will not bring people in
I'll try it tomorrow
There are good arguments why WebUSB is terrible, it's just too damn useful.
Just add a switch in settings, so you can disable WebUSB entirely, and ask every time you want to use USB device in browser
If I were to implement it, I would say keep a whitelist on a browser level and allow the user to add to that
Don't let sites prompt for it at least.
disagree
just dont let them prompt more than once
can't get OSSv4 compiled anymore on loonix
last kernel I managed was an early 5.x kernel, and then it crashed my whole machine, cause (I think) while the PCI version of my sound card is supported, the PCIE has a pci-to-pcie bridge in it that OSS doesn't know about. and since it does everything in kernel, the OS then shits itself completely
tldr OSS is dead, leave it in the past lol
Now it sounds even more fun to do
if you can get it to run I wanna hear about it
Basically yeah
I guess it's pretty useful
Demo Wootility works just fine in Firefox
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds have a unique clip-on design that doesn't block your ears and makes you look like you're wearing earrings. They may not be everyone's cup of tea -- and they are pricey -- but they're an excellent set of open buds for anyone looking for that style of earbud.
Find the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds here:

i kinda like the concept, but it looks strange for now. maybe it'll grow on me
gets around the pinna gain issue lel
oh yikes thats about 380 usd
yea lol
it does not have multipoint for now afaik
Oh.
That was fast.
So does this mean you can feed Gemini a research textbook and get it to just go through the entire thing as context?
That PSU is more interesting than that table
Because theyre running AI
to cut costs
Its the same as gemini
Yo, my Wooting keyboard module arrived with custom keycaps but haven’t unboxed it yet, does it come with tools for me to use like a keycap puller or any small tools?
comes with Poron foam, Foam for the board, a cable and another foam to put for your keyboard until your keyboard case arrives
There is no keycap puller nor any smaller tool's as you would need to buy it as a seperate thing
I’m trying to lubricate the springs and stabilizers
I’ve already ordered the lube
Then you gotta the stuff besides lube
Or get any switch puller and a keycap puller
Thank u
You can see the module's website for whats in the box
Section it literally says it all
So if I buy that toolkit that’s everything I need?
and happy 2 help
TECHNICALLY
Cuz if youre into lubing switches and what not
This is the stuff you need there
If youre thinking of getting a case and wanting to burger mount you gotta get some stuff for burgermount
Slight correction. You still need a keycap puller long-term.
Ty mansen for the correction
Unless you wanna sigma male it out use your hands LOL
or use 2 spoons and then pull it out
(Yes its an actual method you can do)
^Which i don't recommend
I call it "Spoon pulling"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6YgywxvnJ0 hell yeah ai videos that look believable
OpenAI is on a roll. From ChatGPT to Dall-E to...Sora? Interesting choice of name. Regardless, the quality of the video generation I'm seeing here is insane enough to genuinely scare me.

people should host their webservers on a vw caddy
no i mean caddy https://github.com/caddyserver/caddy
having recently switched i do like it more than nginx despite having used nginx for ages. the simple fact it automatically does HTTP->HTTPS and automatically gets all SSL certs for configured domains etc makes it so much nicer cause my configs arent full of garbage just to set those 2 up.
also feels slightly faster
treafik seems a popular option for that as well
yeah i heard a lot about treafik as well but havent used it personally
in general i feel like nginx will loose marketshare in the future
auto ssl with nginx and docker is a bit of a pain unfortunately
i mean even always having to do the http redirect explicitly is shit imo
true
like these days you have to use https and ssl certs to just be available on the web
and for the 1 or 2 internal domains i wanna use http only i can still explicitly disable those 2 things for that 1 specific domain
i just use traefik
but for anything outside of docker it's dumb
Oh damn
That just doesn't look fake
Stock footage market sure does appear to be nearing its death
It feeds on literal stock footage.

And then outputs stock footage that you have the rights to, according to them
Funny. Because last I checked AI generated content didn't have any legal protections 😄
So uh... might want to hold off a bit.
And according to the note I wrote on a piece of toilet paper, I am the king of Belgium.
😳 king duck?
It also has a long way to go, to get rid of the worst glitches.
Like that clip of them generating chairs out of nothing.
I have no clue what this means, but if I can shit on Apple, I'll shit on Apple https://www.macrumors.com/2024/02/15/ios-17-4-web-apps-removed-apple/

Seems like there's a lot of good creations, some are cursed
Just gotta press the magic button a few times until it comes out flawless
yeah the focus on openais post wasnt that its 100% flawless but that its actual consistent video that looks like it could be shot irl
heck even in the puppy video vex posted you can see some odd paw physics where the rioght paw of the dog on the left becomes the right paw of the central dog
Still, most people would not look into the footage with eagle eyes and spot artifacts
If this is used as stock footage, hell during some youtube show or whatever for like a 3-4 second clip, it's absolutely perfect for that usage
yeah
especially with how customizable it is over existing stock footage
also saw some basketball video of theirs which was really impressive since it understood like spatial placement of objects even if it fell apart right after by having a second basketball phase through the hoop
My point was that it ultimately relies entirely on a stock video industry.
Predatory, parasitical, completely legally black area atm
Remains to be seen.
I.. what
I refuse to believe that's AI
Like that pig just disappears and the cow is just morphing into some twisted being
id easily believe thats ai
we'll miss these glitches dearly one day
really love how all this came into existence leading up to the US elections
I decided to give Lollypop a whirl as an audio player, and I think it may even beat Strawberry for me. it automatically downloads artist pix too, but only from Spotify. so if the artist isn't on spotify, it takes the first vague match it can find, leading to results like this
i've just been on mpd+ncmpcpp forever, gave some graphical players a whirl at some point but never really liked any to settle on something
lollypop and elisa I liked the best from what I remember
AMD ready to bring back Anti-Lag+ The company had to take the technology out of games to resolve problems that were reported by users. idk how they'll managed to convince people to turn it on again honestly
Simple half the people don’t know about the issues it had the half half will mostly forget about it
Yo guys
i ordered a two he wooting keyboard
and in the mail i got a 60he
how does tht work??????
it got wet and shrunk in the mail
need to contact social@wooting.io to arrange for a return and all that
Most likely the warehouse grabbed the wrong keyboard. As Fleimi mentions above, you'll have to reach out to us for an exchange (please include photos)
alright, would I just send photos of the keyboard and mention how i ordered the two he?

alright
include pictures of cats and a video of you doing the cartwheel when you were 8
None really
One shitty game detected it as an issue and they pulled it
Sad that it's an RX 7000 only feature
yes just a shame that shitty game is still the biggest esports game, most played steam game and quite well received
Indeed, quite shameful
yo
i got a reply on a replacement order
how do i work around returning the item i got?
Wrong channel
You reply to the email asking that.
More like... wrong platform. 😄
Yummy, semantics
@marsh pewter ill tag you here, cuz its not about 60He anymore, I would love to hear your opinion!
100% pushing the limits is great, but pretty important for a mouse? It will become more accurate, but it blows up your battery life.. New mouses with 4k (some claim 8K), but are worse than other mouses that say 1k/2k/4k polling rate, so not all polling rates are the same?
Dont get me wrong, for the wooting im happy that it gets "updated" (Who cares about battery life when you plug it in?), like customers always want something new or something "better", but will it really make a difference where we as humans aren't that accurate or fast to response?
its possible those mice that are promising 4k-8k polling dont have the scanning to back it up. its also up to QC and overall latency that makes a mouse good or bad.
wooting pushing the limits is pretty neat and while at the end of the day it isnt really needed, without wooting pushing the limits we wouldnt have HE boards in general. now 8k polling is pretty overkill, but in the current tech market they sorta had to do it, otherwise another brand would come out with a true 8k polling HE keyboard and would pull people away from wooting (at least thats how I see it)
why not make a ps/2 keyboard if the latency is so important
Yeah I get that, they have to stay on-top of the game, like they are the brand with the fastest keyboard rn.
true
im actually not sure if the 60he is the fastest anymore, but wooting still has the best rapid trigger accuracy and implmentation compared to all the other clones.
you could even get a PS/2 card to support it lol
ultimate latency reduction right there, gamers
Why does it need a heatsink?
Its very stylish
