i never know how good it actually is to have so much more refresh rate than you prob pump out in whatever game
One uses dyac and other uses ulmb2. Benq will be cheaper by $200
ulmb2 is better, but costs more
haha
pulsar is just ulmb2+ vrr
truck just means fat car here hm
So is it just a matter of price between the two monitors?
Ah ty
some people cant stand strobing at all, in which case it doesnt matter
weird how people did not see 50hz TVs flicker way back when, me included, but once you saw it you could never unsee it
yeah, same for VRR flickering
never noticed it until one day I looked closer and now its so annoying
shame really
whats much worse is if you start to notice the 120hz/100hz flicker of streetlights
yeah but that would require me to leave the house
the picture was so shitty already it was just one of various distortions
another theory i have is that tvs were so small that it didnt really matter much
grew up with a whopping 28" of woodpaneled CRT goodness
most games and tv shows, movies etc here ran at about half the framerate of 50hz too so
but a 20 inch across the room is very small
What? Why? Slightly less bright?
nah, headaches and stuff
brains are complicated, I can totally believe it
the brain is also real janky on top of that
congrats now you have
nah, 8 was a super major change
they rolled it back in 8.1 but it was big
nah it was pretty obvious
but people whined so hard that they rolled it back
using 7 today you definitely notice that stuff has changed under the hood
yeah 10 LTSB was the last straw for me, went to linux after that
http://www.lrc.rpi.edu/programs/solidstate/assist/pdf/AR-Flicker.pdf#page=6
This doesnt study pain and headaches specifically, but there are some cases where 10khz strobing is still problematic, tho mostly things become good after 1khz
yeah so instead of dx version they made it so 11 was needed if you have a big.shittle cpu
oh btw quin, i was running into an issue with video when i enabled rtx video, (and no issues elsewhere somehow)
it turned out that precision x1 set my power limit to 25%, and rtx video needs more than that
still no clue how everything else ran fine, tho i havent really played games
thats a power limit of 87 watts set
lol
the new auto setting is also sweet, set and forget (assuming you dont set a power limit)
the hdr conversion needs some better AI for handling UI elements, but its real awesome, and very low on banding
https://neo.manjaro.org/
Interesting to see more linux based gaming handhelds.
While I am doubtful about the comfort of this one and Manjaro is kind of cringe I do like that it exists.
It's an orange pi neo?
in typical manjaro fashion, the site is slapped together and will probably lose its SSL certificate next year
Does have TouchPads though
No back buttons though.
touchpads and back buttons work great together as using them often means your hands are lower, making the face buttons harder to use.
I find it kind of weird that it's on the manjaro site and not even a news post on Orange Pi itself.
I've never seen a "craftsmanship" category on a spec sheet before
the "steam deck at home" vibes are real with this one
Handle
All-in-One Gaming Multi-Function Grip
Grip
Ergonomic and comfortable grip
Important to name separately of course
Why am I looking at the specs again, even lists the colors twice, seems noone even proof read it.

HOT and not running HOT
Robotics are making fast leaps
-1 to multiply by 2
ok?
id have to lose one of them buttons for gshift
move one action to shift+right click
huh?
so take whatever was on the back button, and move it to gshift+ right click
for example
that means id have to use gshift constantly
it would not be optional
you get used to it real quick
it would not work
give it a shot
make sure its 2 buttons that dont use the same finger to activate, or you can activate at the same time (like the back and forward keys)
how often do you use melee?
ok so move class ability to where melee is now
shift where class ability is now, and melee to shift + primary click
but i need to keep spamming class
that does requrire a second mouse to set up unfortunately
i cant be having to activate to use a different layer, class abilities are kinda a split second thing.
The best i can think of is prob dpi button
all of them but dpi but its going to be so weird getting used to that haha
guess i can try
so put one on primary and the other on secondary
ive never needed more than 2, but i also dont have a dpi button
haha i think this is gonna be a struggle getting used to a different bind for finisher xD
just 5 total buttons on my mouse
this
yea fair enough
maybe ill just get a macropad or uwu like i planned
xD
The issue is i have a bad range of function on my left hand
hmm
which is why i rely on my mouse so much
can you trade any movement keys over to the right hand?
nope
theres a csgo pro who binds move forward to right click for example
Why are we nsfwing
I just went to get a demo of the Apple Vision Pro, and yeah, it is not that great. I'm already feeling a little nauseous.
They were also Showing off their spatial videos, but their spatial videos are only 360. They are not VR videos like Google was showing with Welcome to Light fields.
They also didn't curve the edge of the screen in the theater mode, so the videos were a bit skewed at the edges,
Only cool thing that I hadn't seen anyone show off is that you can use your fingers normally in iPad apps if you bring the app really close to you (it was also a surprise to the store employees)
The stereo overlap is also pretty awful.
In the theater environment that they showed off, only the center 1/3 of the movie screen was in 3d when facing the center of the screen
Apple store yea
Demo experience is very limited, much better to get a friend who will let you borrow theirs
Wouldn't even let me try bluetooth earbuds so that the noise from the people around would go away
@prisma crag interesting
I'm not too bothered by the laminate tbh
This is a vr headset, not something you'll carry around (i bet some idiots will tho) like it will go from the case to your face to back in the case. It's not like you're putting this in your pocket
Like you'll probably be sitting at home and well i don't think a hairline scratch would be perceptible while using it
But yeah the only way i can see that front glass being damaged is like idk
You fall and hit your face straight up on the ground breaking your nose in the process
And i'd probably prefer not having glass shards in my face if that happenned lol
I mean i could buy one but i feel like that be a waste of money
Vr in general is a waste in my book
I'd rather use my money on other stuff
Who's rocco
It's probably cool
But i have no use for it
It just seems like a toy at the moment
A very expensive one

Because apple only deems you worthy of a single monitor when remote controlling a mac
Dual screening is also harder than it should be on osx.
No MST support over displayport. while on the intels you could still do it when running windows, so its really apple limiting it
PSA: If you forget your Apple Vision Pro passcode (or experience a bug where it doesn’t work), the only way to reset it is to bring it to a store or ship to AppleCare for them to erase the OS (or become a developer and buy the $300 USBC strap). https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-02-05/forgot-your-apple-vision-pro-s-pa…

Aw that’s not great, I was getting my hopes up a little for this product
Why it doesn't surprise me? With Apple being as anti-consumer as it is
Probably just a 1.0 issue since afaik this is the only product you can’t wipe through iCloud
I'm not convinced
Being pro consumer and resales? Couldn't be Apple.
for chromebooks you still need a special cable
at least they tell you how to make your own one
On another hand - why else would they price USB-C strap $300?
$300!
You could get Quest 2 for $300...
lol
yea that I have no idea about 😂
Haha the dev program is about 99 usd a year too
Wasn't that like always
enterprise pricing is absolutely not exclusive to apple
wlmouse
I hate Star Rail, but that looks amazing
4090 though, shit's gonna cost 2.5 grand at least
You'd think the price would be LOWERED, since you're essentially buying an advertisement 😄
u made a typo on the word waifu mansen
Tbf it doesn't have the name of the game on the product
To most people, like me, it's a generic weeb product
Hell I would not guess in a million years it's by MSI lol
MAXSUN makes stuff like this, maybe a PowerColor?
Not MSI
4090 suprim x 2100$ + waifu tax
Kinda feels sad the 2000s and early 2010s trend of putting cool graphics on the card is just gone
I'd care a lot more, if I wasn't using waterblocks anyway.
If I really wanted to, I could just print out a vinyl online and slap it on myself.
Cringe
Overpriced stocks 🤢
imagine having invested in nvidia 20 years ago
Funne number
Buddy, AMD
When it was at 1.12$, I thought "I should put 500$ into AMD right now" - but didn't have the money / kinda thought it wouldn't be worth it
500$ would've become 83,500$
idk how much nvidia was 20years ago but prob far away from their over 600usd per share rn
1,90 USD
True enough, but AMD was cheap to buy into
And I just didn't
lol
Yeah but 20 years ago I was ak id with no money
AMD was 1.12 like a decade ago
And just like bitcoin nobody would have kept the investment without getting cold feet when it was already a 50x value
buy tulips, they will 🚀
I waited 8 years with Doge lol
or sell a substantial amount if not all
my ide drive is still waiting with bitcoins somewhere on a dump in germany
havent you tried to search for it?
rly? my city only has 1 dump
my old city has multiple
when I was kiddo I brought back a joystick from one of the trips I went there with my dad
when there were actual landfills
not these recycling centers as these days
and the dumps in my old city off load to other dumps and so on until it reaches a big landfill where they mound it up and cover it in dirt
So you're saying older landfills are literal goldmines? Give dumpster diving a new meaning
as long as the drives still work maybe
Yoo I know what im gonna do when I quit my job
tons of people that just discarded pcs with hundreds of bitcoin on it cause it was cents back then

when i got a new pc back then i couldnt even buy a pizza with it cause no one in germany really knew about btc
Im hoping this company will one day be like NXP/INFINEON/STM. It's currently valued at 1.5B (15B NOK), so rising to 50B is like 33x.
They make mcu's for mice and other peripherals and chips for IoT devices hehe
They made an article about their comment section's spambots
Ew, Meteor Lake
There are better things to put in a gaming laptop
Nobody talks about GloFo
Hi. Just ordered a 60he and looking forward to getting it. Just a quick ask if you guys have considered building a gamepad with your tech.
UwU?
Sorry I don't know that acronym
I don't see how Wooting's technology belongs on controllers, keypads, sure
Oh lol no. Like half a keyboard. Like the left half of an ergo keyboard. I'm currently using one from Redragon
So a programmable keypad
#1141096226884956181 would be better for that topic

Tips fedora
What's special about it
its costs extra for the fedora branding
Kek
Like just get the diy framework laptop and install insert generic Linux distro on it
if it wasnt so expensive sure
Shite hardware
can you imagine a laptop with templeos written on it
At least it's not a Manjaro edtion.
How much is the 13
would arch linux edition come with socks then?
Think that is for the 7640u version
My old laptop was a clevo where I was forced to pick memory / storage, but pricing wise the best option was to pick the cheapest then replace it with actual stuff I want to use
But it makes sense that they require it, to at least validate everything is working.
That do that at the factory for framework
Then they take all the stuff out
Basically, which makes it kind of silly
do you need to get your own RAM and SSD and things too?
I can get it cheaper anyway
how much are DDR2 sodimms anyway?
free because I found them at the dump!
why
is this like the people who fork literally everything they encounter
except this time they upload everything they encounter

Ally 2 just a year after first one? Must be a refresh
Unless they are stuffing a Strix Halo into it lel and it launches before expected
Idk what else they could really do to make it not a refresh but a significant sequel, there's no silicon out to be an upgrade
W.. what
D.. DVI

Just tells you the power of the card 😄
It's cursed to have DVI and DP on the same card
Strix Point with 50W limit goes brrrr
Maybe they'll add OLED display
Please no OLED display
I sure want my handheld to have a hardware expiration date
I mean... Ally fanboys kinda struck me as people who would immediately ditch their device as soon more powerful as new one comes out, so that won't be an issue here
Still, Ally was pretty easy to disassemble, so display swap shouldn't be that hard
llol
I'm loving my Steam Deck OLED
Sure it's not the strongest, but it can play the games I'd want to play on handheld easily and at 60FPS+
Same
It's so nice to be able to play older games in bed
I've reconfigured my LCD one into emulation machine, which pretty much at all times stays in dock
And OLED for laying in bed, is nice
Halo isn’t coming this year and certainly not in a handheld, can’t power that
50W TDP, 20 minutes on battery, but on 1080p 120Hz Ultra
wtf did I just read
https://www.zdnet.com/home-and-office/smart-home/3-million-smart-toothbrushes-were-just-used-in-a-ddos-attack-really/
Halo will need more than 50
Oh, Halo sure, but Point was 50W iirc
It’s the same as current phoenix point, configurable tdp in the same range
So yeah probably up to 5xW
shocker

apparently microcenter does GPU trade in now
as long as your gpu was bought from them

I can get 147 for my 2080
sounds... ass
Anyone familiar with ulmb2 and dyac2 for monitors. Which one is better. I do have a nvidia gpu
ulmb2 is better but more expensive
Thank you! How about oled vs tn. Is there really a major difference?
the differences are major
So question. Is it better to purchase this https://a.co/d/gU8yHBE
PG2The ROG Swift Pro PG248QP is the world's fastest esports gaming monitor. Designed for professional FPS gamers, with a 24.1-inch Esports-TN (E-TN) panel boasting a 540 Hz (OC) refresh rate and built-in NVIDIA® G-SYNC® processor, the PG248QP offers incredibly smooth gameplay and unmatched realis...
from what I hear OLED is better in every respect, only it can have burn-in of static elements over time
nope, the mprt is worse (drastically so)
This is for competitive gaming.
oh what ?? looks like my purchasing decision was good after all
?
competitive gaming = response time über alles -> TN then
one aspect being worse doesnt mean the whole thing is worse
^
Zowie is releasing their 540 hz monitor mid feb. should i wait
and the amount by which the images look better on oled is insane
yeah but response time was one of the major reasons I chose my monitor
response time or mprt
because oled is far better response time
and you dont have to worry about stroboscopic artifacts
and if the tn isnt strobed, its much worse
nah it's strobed so it's all good
even still the 360hz oleds are incredible
and they are 1440p, so if you run them at 720p, they look far better than a 1080p monitor would
Is 1080p oled a thing?
not really, and even if it did exist, it would not be a great idea
I appreciate the information. Thank you!
I think they showed them at gamescom or ces? so exists, just not launched yet 😛
still not a 1080p oled
now would I be ok with a 1080p oled if it was a hardwired quad pixel arrangement? probably
I said there sorta is, implying I know it's not a raw 1080p panel 😛 but it's a panel made to be used in 1080p
yea fair enough
and i do currently own a 1080p120hz oled, its just less than an inch diagonal and head mounted
its a real oled
and its real cool
if it was on sale, it would definetly be the one to get
Would it be smarter to wait for that monitor… or should i go for the 540 hz tn 1080p from asus
it's real oled, it can do4k 240 or 1080p 480hz
just not out yet and probably wont be cheap
again you probably should consider the 360hz oled
^
Thats 1440p
so?
Reduction of frames. I do have a 4090. Wouldn’t 1440p drop my frames by a margin
you dont have to run it at 1440p if you dont want to
you can change resolution on any screen it just normally doesn't allow you higher hz
^
So will the hz be at 360
yes
yep
And still oled?
why would lowering resolution change what its made from
No it turns into a TN if you switch to 1080p
ignore the troll
Small bit of nuance, on old 1080p screens going to 75hz at a lower resolution was pretty common up from 60.
Granted not relevant at all
Ty
and unfortunately not really a thing in modern day
my monitor is 240hz at 4k and 245hz at 1080p
and ofc had to overclock manually
One more question. Does tn give more frames than an oled?
Is there a frame difference
you get the hz you buy
I clocked it down even, for better motion and consistent framerates on a 3080
360hz is the same as 360hz on anything else
540hz = 540hz
360hz = 360hz
Yeah but will tn give more of an fps increase bc its worse
Sorry for my silly question
no
no
It will have lower response times at the same framerate though, oled that is.
Ok tyty
again misleading
see above
So if my computer could run 540 hz on a tn… a 360 hz oled would be more ideal. In that case i guess i should wait for that 1080 480hz oled
Which can also do 4k. Sums it up for me ty all
if you are fine with waiting, sure
im definetly hyped for the 4k240/1080p480 myself
depends on how far you sit
you would definitely notice it
not definetly
Ah
but with a normal desk sure it wouldnt be fantastic
but it wouldnt be blurry since its a true 4k panel, it would be sharp and jaggy
So maybe ill settle for the pg27aqdp. 1440p 480hz 27”
Such cool monitors. Hyped for 2024
now make cheap monitors
What gpu
24.5 360hz TN here: I like it, but wish it was bigger
Wow cool
I have a 240hz display
So for competitive gaming. Oled wins?
Idk it's cool but it's not as wow as when i went to 144
yes and no
ulmb2 is very nice
and you cant do ulmb2 on oled (yet)
but everything else is so much nicer besides ulmb2
Then again i play cod and siege but casually
I tried playing with 144hz and 165 recently respectively, and they both felt bad compared to 240. I never thought myself that I would eventually feel the difference but here I am
thats how it always is
I mean I'm on 5120x1440 240hz with a 7900xtx, only esports stuff can go in like the above 144hz range
upgrades
"wow this isnt that much better"
goes back to old monitor
"holy smokes this is so awful"
The thing i notice is how bad colors look on other monitors, the colors on the neo g9 are beautiful
It ruined every other display for me
the only exception would have been my CRTs before they died, panels used to be quite awful for a long time but we were all fooled 😛
oled is real sweet...
But framerste wise honestly 144 is the sweet spot unless you're an esport try hard
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww
You always blame that poor, innocent squirrel boy.
hhhhMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm not sure I agreeeeeeee
nah
smoother the better
it is the sweetspot considering price/perf
now id take a super consistent perfect 144hz over high variability 240hz
just lower your settings in fps games
overwatch 2 got a DLSS update not long ago and holy shit am I glad not to be using FSR anymore
DLSS spoils me
meanwhile I'm just happy to even have a monitor
Yes
You've got me defending Nico. An adult who dresses as a squirrel. That's where we're at?
He's a cat not a squirrel
dobut theres much diff between 144 and 240
depends on the game, in a fast shooter you notice it 100% when fps go below 200
My bad. I was basing it off of the pic you posted
I mean in price
oh derp
at above 1080p it gets expensiveish
Think im just gonna go for the 540hz 1080p. Try it for a month and see how i like it. Can always return for free. Rip $1000
that's kinda crazy expensive for 1080p
I would wait for ULMB/strobing support, it makes motion massively good
its a ulmb2 monitor at least
oh nevermind then lol
Im also assuming ill always want ulmb2 enabled
possibly not outside of gaming
So wth hell is the point of g sync
oh you cant use gsync and ulmb2 at the same time btw (at least not yet)
I didn't even realize I'm this lost on monitors, don't have a clue what ulmb2 means
backlight strobing, by nvidia, 3rd version
Ah. G sync is like v sync then
it removes tearing like v sync but doesnt add the extra latency
Ah
vsync is different, but you can't enable ULMB2 and gsync at the same time so you'll probably not use it
It is but I'm willing to take a small loss for convenience
2080 has lost alot of value relatively quickly
Yeah
its also 5 years old+
A 2080ti would have retained a lot more value
it notably does not remove tearing, still need vsync for that
My other pc i dont use has a 2080ti. Its good
2080 on ebay are like 200
it does remove tearing until your fps is too high, and you can use a framerate cap rather than vsync to fix it
Would yall help me in purchasing a headset. I have an amp. I dont need the mic. Need good audio
what's the budget and what kind of sound you like
in the VRR range of 40something fps up to the screens max hz it removes tearing that's kinda the point of gsync
I was looking at the 990 pro dt and x2 pro
No budget. For gaming
get he1s then
no budget? then you can get the he1s
seriously tho budget matters
ahhah
headset or headphones
headset means attached mic
Headphone
My husband uses my old 2080 in his rig and he's happy with it it's still a great 1080p card
sure, its still not that expensive now when it was very expensive 5 years ago
I'd drop a little less first if you don't know what kind of sound signature you like
There's no way to tell you what's good without you specifying your audio preferences
Beyers are generally a bit eh though
the DT990s are very nice IF you like them
True, I paid like 999cad for it on launch day
if you don't they are horrifying
How about the logi x2s
Don't waste money
And whats better 250ohm or 80
Used 2080/2080s/2080 ti's are a great used deal rn
Are you looking for wireless headphones?
U right
No
250 if you have an amp
So winner is dt 990 pro
Like there are some nice headphones out there for 300$, but like, what are your audio preferences
only if you can try them first
Definitely not lol
Tbh its just fir gaming
Not music or studio
Strictly gaming. I enjoy comfort and need sound to be on point
the other thing is do you actually want headphones?
if you have a noisy environment, iems can be great, i highly recommend the truthear nova, they are $150 and dead on harman
If you have a quiet environment, the basic headphone to get into is the hd560s
Aune AR5000 is 300$ flat
Logitech G933 @upbeat pilot
then maybe something with a wide soundstage and precise imaging
Tbf only AKG fits that bill
yep, I'd recommend something AKG if I knew anything about AKG
but you do so you be the judge
I use some and my concerns are more about long use comfort and long battery life/witeless than audiophile stuff
I would say Aune AR5000 is pretty good, imaging is great, ok soundstage, amazing details, extremely easy to run
Guys he said he wants to game
when i tried the g933, they were pretty bad btw
None of the audiophile crap
They look great snd comfortable.
I said g733
Then you know nothing
Different headset
but doesn't want a wireless headset
what
The ar5000. I see these streamers using the 990 dt
Oh it was a typo i meant g733
You're an ass
AKG K702s are wide as fuck
Couldn't care less lol, good headphones perform well in games
that doesnt make them wrong tho...
I like the beyer sound, you might not so might want to get something more safe as a starting point
recommendations so far AR5000, DT990, K702, pick your poison
Everyone has a different need when it comes to headphones
I'll throw in HD560S just because they are cheap, excel at almost everything and are safe
Beyer dynamic Mmx200
And so far you were wrong in all of your suggestions
Wireless, not bad though
Now my last upgrade will be my chair. Waiting for the hernan miller embody to go on sale
My suggestion was g733 if he wants wireless and a lightweightheadset, i used one and i enjoy it for that need
That will sound horrible, with horrible quality
You can find them for a really cheap price too
I like mine personally
I'll only upgrade my chair if my free kitchen chair breaks
For the price they're good
For 140$ I'd far rather advise to buy proper good drivers rather than whatever Logi is using
yes and no
gaming is better with better sounding headphones
there is no reason to go out of the way to get a worse sounding set
if you dont need a mic, anything from logitech will be awful
Their price seems to be 140$ish
They go on sale super often
I use K702s, bought them for 120 or so, they are absolutely incredible for games
The soundstage is best in class in audiophile category even
go into best buy and pick up any random "wireless tv headphones" and they will probably be better than the logitech
Gaming headphones is a plague
All of them usually sound shite unless it's Meze or Beyer doing something
Well these last 30 hours on a charge and their weigh nothing and are crazy comfortable
That's what i care about
mine weigh less, dont have to charge and are for me more comfortable, as well as solidly less hot
Cables bad
Last I read there are better options than Hermans nowadays
For cheaper
It's okay, you are just wrong
Cables are annoying
Okay, doesn't make you any less wrong
guys it's ok to want a wireless headset and it's also ok to want wired headphones
now kiss
You're not wrong and im not wrong we just value different things
I have issues with the statement "Cables bad"
You are factually wrong to even imply that
"I don't like cables", go on, live with your life, I will judge you though
is aught fallacy
You mean autist?
I just see value in different things than you do
What headphones do u use
Schiit set with K702s
Well, AKG K702s
Cheap as shit, a little bit hard to run off a motherboard
personally agree with dashi, i like the convinience wireless things gives me and i tend to have mostly wireless periperals
But insanely good headphones for gaming and music
its not just about being an elitist tho, there are better wireless options than logitech
I really like the tv headsets these days, the only advantage of logitech is built in mic
Vex has the behavior that gives audiophiles a bad name
and the best wireless is still sennheiser
Not willing to understand that different people have different priorities
I'm sorry for telling you that you are wrong when you were wrong
I have a problem with honesty
I mean it's just called being an ass
Try to see the different viewpoints of people instead of being like
You are wrong because I prioritize audio quality over everything else
I don't think anyone is wrong it's just called a preference
@upbeat pilot Found the chair that gets rated better than herman millers
Steelcase Leap
A lot cheaper too
Steelcase Amia is also good
Well chairs are subjective
I like a wide seat
Fern
But yeah typical elitist audiophile behavior from vex that leads people to stay away from that circle
Hernan has such a wide seat
What about Steelcase Amia?
But ty. I tried amia. Seat is small
Well I guess Hermans it is
But ty
im not ashamed to admit that i think airpods sound great, because thats really the only pair of earbuds i use lol
I reject calling it anything but a target market
I like how the more expensive you go in price, the less material you get
Like, that thing has no back support
Fern is pretty highly rated
yea but how much time have you spent with better sounding stuff like the buds2pro or real iems?
theres a difference between good enough, good compared to what I/you tried, and good on an absolute scale
Wait the base is titanium?
Probably the most convenient headphones out there tbh but other stuff sounds better but if convenience and wireless is whay you like then they're great
they are very inconvenient if you have android lol
I have a question. Would i be able to use logitech g pro padding on a dt990
thats the thing, i haven't tried any of the other offerings at all besides some old wired cheap sennheiser buds and beats. to me airpods sound great because currently its the best buds i have
Should have precised that
I dont like the velvet on dt990
but maybe that changes if i invest in some very high quality iems
The earpads?
Ye
Lemme check
which while true doesnt make them good in an absolute sense
just fulfilling 2 of the 3 criteria i set above
But if you're running around with then doing your daily shit you'll feel less bad about a pair of airpods breaking than more expensive iems
yea but airpod isnt competitive with iems anywhere near in its price range
You can see the airpods as more... disposable?
its about on par with the $18 range
naturally
Possibly?
and the $18 range can be converted to wireless for around $50 for similar quality to airpods, $100ish for better quality
yeah i like the convinience, auto switching between my devices and all that
I think DT-770, 880 and 990 have the same pads
They do
It seems 770 and G Pro share same pad dimensions so 990 should do too
And those pads are great
im confident that other possibly cheaper buds are better sounding than airpods, but they dont have the features i seek, so therefore im fine with all the compromises
Velvet. Its p firm
bluetooth multipoint is nicer than the apple stuff, the apple multi device exclusively works with apple stuffs where multipoint works with everything
Per Brainwavz at least, they say that G Pro and 770 are about same dimensions, Height: 110mm | Width: 90mm | Inner Hole: 50mm x 70mm
Oh ty ❤️
im just too integrated into apples system for now, and unfortunately they are too locked down to support bt multipoint, but if i change sometime ill be sure to get some buds with bt multipoint
I love the way the dt990 pros look. But u did say there was a harsh sound to it…
hey all, i just recently bought the 60he + module and built it with no knowledge of what I was doing. Maybe I should’ve come here first but I was wondering if there was a step-by-step tutorial on how to build it? I scoured the internet for one and couldn’t find anything.
yea they just dont support multipoint at all, you get 1 device at a time, and apple handles the switching on the computer/phone side
Wrong channel
Also that. But there is a semi guide : https://help.wooting.io/article/177-putting-your-60he-module-together
So you finally have your awesome new 60HE Module, but you're not entirely sure how to put it all together? Let's get started! What's in the box Opening the box
thank you!
yea you're pretty much forced to use apples offerings and nothing else, for sure downsides to it but fine as long as you accept that
again no
fapple would do that? unthinkable
i use wf1000xm4 multipoint with my work iphone and android and it works perfectly
theres nothing that apple can do to prevent it from working short of entirely blocking the device
i wasn't clear enough perhaps, but i mean theres no true integration like siri would only work with apples devices. or for example any other smart watch besides apple watch paired to an iphone would always have less features than the aw
Speaking of shit wireless headphones, was looking into Audeze Maxwells to replace my dying Cambride Audio buds
Maxwells look really damn good on the FR graph
And I kinda like the 2.4GHz dong
Really unsure on the planars, the few planars I ever got to listen to sounded shallow and undynamic
Are wireless headphones worse than wired?
Usually, yes
For music they are fine but they are worse
The difference is: can you hear that they are worse
Ahh
sure but that happens to not be true for earbuds
the only thing you miss out on is hey siri triggered by the buds themselves, you can still trigger it manually
and afaik you also get the benefit of being able to switch to something that isnt siri as a voice assistant
We're likely talking about using a phone not a dedicated audiophile grade mp3 player
Otherwise I don't think they'd ask
Not what Bean is talking about
Bean's gaming
Ye
Then yeah wireless are definitely worse
Have u personally tried the dt 990s?
Nope, I don't like how that sound signature looks
That's why I phrased my reply how I did
Sound signature?
Reminds me, should look into buying new closed back over-ears sometime for use at work.
But last time I checked I decided my old ones while looking worse for wear could still hold on.
Frequency response
yeah true, though if im right other assistants like google assistant wont have access to starting a playlist in apple music for example, so there are some limitations, in that siri has more access to the device than the other voice assistants
Beyerdynamics in general are just not my thing
im not 100% sure on that though
I far prefer AKGs signature
And I have yet to find anything else that replicates it as well, immense soundstage included
I got myself a pair of monoprice m1070 headphones and they are great, paid 235bux for them on the used market. I heard the speaker bits are manufactured by the same factories that supply Audeze, a brand that costs 2-3x more. I don't know if that's true. but they sound way better than they ought to for what I paid for them
If anyone happens to have any recommendations I wouldn't mind.
Frequency response, as long as I can EQ it I am mostly fine, though shouldn't be too horrible. Harman neutral is mostly good for my taste
Comfort wise, I need somewhat larger and deeper ear cups. and not too much clamping force
I don't care about noise-cancelling, just closed back seems to offer the best balance between keeping the outside mostly out but not being completely oblivious to it.
Wireless or wired, both are fine.
What I currently use has been somewhat fine hd598cs comfort wise, but it does not sound good at all without eq.
K702?
Closed backs
Those seemed rather flimsy and while I never tried them the earcups didn't look great
which is what I mostly look at and start to think maybe not
They aren't very well built
Out of closed backs, Audeze Maxwells are very neutral actually, open back levels of neutral
But they are kinda expensive
MMX100 and above models are good
I like to watch Z reviews on youtube, they are rambling, uninformative, terrible reviews and I love them for it, honest opinions from a guy with taste
I haven't found a good reviewer that isn't Crinacle but crin would rather just do collabs with IEM companies
Kind of wish there were good places around me to actually try things out comfort wise, as end of the day that's the hardest criterium to fill.
Also the hardest to convey on a review.
at home I am using hifiman HE400SE's which are known for a lot of clamping force but also have a metal headband so it's easily bend into comfort.
Closest places from me to try audio is like 200 miles away
I hope I will get to listen to some soon though, I am looking to replace my Cambridge Audio buds
Oh wait Cambridge Audio are making new buds
Wtf is that
possible pixel fold 2
Ah, interest gone
the camera bump is obscured, but its still in a strange location for google
Heard that Sony will do something with the new Xperia phones this year
Either new design or the branding will change
carm already gave up on sony
500g
man none of the 4080S at microcenter can fit into my case
nah not entirely, and they are in fact refreshing the lineup next year
I don't see a problem with 500g but some peeps might
Dremmel
Honestly they look like exactly what I want for high end headphones i just wish they were lighter
prob just go with a 4070TIS
You get what you pay for
That card is really not worth the money
as an AMD shareholder, this is true
same lol
7900xtx goes on sale regularly for great prices and is worth it
650.. dollars?
yep, but depending on what you do, the 4070ti can both be faster and much better image quality
yes
ummmm
Nah
I'm talking about xtx not regular xt, raster is faster than the 4080 super and rt perf you get 4070 ti/3090ti ish rt
the only thing AMD has going for it is slightly faster raster at native
at similar pricing
yes on raster, no on rt
You will lose in rt sure but the xtx still does well in rt
If you can get a Ti S for 650 I see no reason to get Radeon
7900XT is like 699 right now
Like if's good enough
well the trade in can be used for amd as well
You just have to manage your expectations a litrle
it's just microcenter store credit
its worse than a 3090, and in games it uses the raster to almost catch up
Ehh I would generally suggest you just get NV
I said "ish" 3% less
I'd say that's close enough tbh
But it's good enough is what i'm saying
With rt some effects like shadows barely do jack shit
Pathtracing is a meme on 40 series
Its cool but realistically it's too demanding for what 40 series can do
see the problem is that dlss works
50 series? Sure i could see pathtracing being more relevant
Not saying it doesn't
Guys i did it ( ordered pads for a headset i just got as well so it came out to $1000 )🪦
What i mean is better raster + better vram means between the 7900xtx and the 4070 ti super i'm picking an xtx
Which can easily be found for the same price
Or cheaper
not in the us?
I got my 7900xtx for 890usd this summer
I see
I hope that's a legit listing cause that's not how you spell velour
I'm in canada pricing is different @gusty kiln
ahhh
But yeah the cheapest 4070 ti supers i can find here at the moment are 1100cad but the cooler is meh on em
oof
Says Saturday
damn canada hit hard with nvidia tax
Well if it's amazon it's not shipped by brainwavz and it's in U.S somewhere
Ordered at end of January, hope it's not lost somewhere
Haha wat u got
what about those pads LTT have been shilling hard?
Glue gave out and they ripped hard
I dunno why would you glue and not sew earpads but Neumann chose to glue
I've always been a stock pads or bust person
NDH20 pads are like hard to find, and insanely ovepriced to buy
50$+ for stock replacements
I'd rather get some cheap chinese ones for 15
4080s the cheapest i could find was a Gigapoop for 1375$ but who buys gigabyte gpus
I do, I suppose?

Better than MSI or Asrock as far as current trends are concerned
the only actually really good product line gigabyte have are their monitors
And motherboards
Aorus series is genuinely pretty damn great
Problem i have with gigabyte is their rmas
MSI has completely lost the plot, ASrock ships bad BIOS
that's all of them except evga
Asus is just Asus
I rmaed something once with gigabyte and it was horrendous
Msi did ok
I love my apex encore
gigabyte also has the cheapest dual hdmi gpus
really wish more folks would put on extra ports
asus is very expensive and is the only other option
all the big 4 brands have shit RMAs
No clue what that is
Motherboard
Msi at least has a service center in canada i'll give em that
I wish the USB-C would come back
Sending shit to the us for rmas sucks
yea, makes me sad that only radeon is doing that now 😦
imagine a card that can provide power deliver and video out to the monitor with only a usb-c
exactly!!!
Why would you ever need USB-C on a GPU other than for VR reasons
My 2080 had a usb c and i never used it
And a few select weird Samsung displays that run off of USBC
I just used DP
like anyone without a vr headset would do
Having usb c as an option is nice tho i guess
usb c = displayport
except with even more bandwidth
i look forward to when computers are all usb c, and if the computer is particularly high power usage, it uses AC
that sounds nice
I prefer micro-b
laptops and the like still need sd card slots but displayport and hdmi should be legacy at this point
I would still like ethernet on a laptop just in case
why?
"just in case"
usb c can easily carry ethernet
rather than carrying an ethernet cable, they will make direct rj45 to C cables
monitors and power adapters can have ethernet
at work i just bought a monitor that has ethernet
dinga linglong
which surface?
imacs definetly have the option but the surfaces we buy come with usb power only on the adapters
did you preorder the framework 16 carm?
i refuse to purchase a laptop without a touchscreen full stop
@astral haven Hello idk if you remind me. You help me with a problem for headphones and audio interface with muffled audio, and if you remeber i was using the DT990PRO 250 OHM and after a week of pain i decide to return and take the Sennheiser hd 660s but belive or not im still having the same problem 😂
ah
im considering the minisforum
they make laptops now?
I was mistaken, it's only an extra USB
yea the problem is software on your pc, try yeeting the drivers or whatever
dang ok thats pretty cool, their mini PCs seem awesome
and its a tablet, dunno about full on laptops
oooo
The world's first AMD high-performance 3-in-1 Windows tablet,minisforum
big?
14" "tablet"
OOOOOOO THIS IS SO COOL
That looks quite nice
Windows 😢 Wonder what wifi chip it has
i use the 3:2 13 inch surface book and its a bit small for what i like
heck i just requested a 24 inch touchscreen at work, dunno if ill be approved tho
not OLED...shame ;-;
yea, its livable tho
for sure
I'm tempted to get a galaxy book
dont think there are any 2560 16:10 oleds at all, much less 165hz
what is securty level 3?
Something off of SCP
its a list of features that you can look up on microsofts website
its hardware support for security features
framework also supports it so presumeably not required
Nah, it still is possible
It just means it has necessary hardware to enforce L3 security in Intune
This tablet would be amazing to use with Gnome desktop, touchscreen gestures on gnome are AMAZING
are they as good as windows tho?
yes
❌
not as good as Windows 8.1 but better than 10 and 11
what
huh
nothing comes close to the 8.1 gestures on touchscreen
windows 10 is alot better than 8.1, and 11 is alot better than 10
windows 12 should be tablet friendly
and now its a 3 finger swipe anywhere on the screen
yeh but that opens the overview
what
with its slow ass jank ass animation
what are you talking about?
this is the same as doing win + tab, right?
no
oh
thats 4 fingers
