not exactly sure if its future frames or interpolated frames

raw zephyr
#

i have a 7800x3d and 7900xtx and i had terrible frames in the finals

#

very poor optimization

fair gull
#

just play on 1080p

raw zephyr
#

i play on 1440p

fair gull
#

i mean the guy who needs to play at 240fps for some reason

#

and yes 1440p (qhd) was the target res

raw zephyr
#

ah, as long as i get over 150 fps it's just fine for me

fair gull
#

i mean im glad about 30 or 60fps either is fine for me

#

in any game really

cosmic thunder
#

but what about the latency

raw zephyr
#

it's a competitive shooter, you just want more frames than that

fair gull
#

if you need more frames -> reduce resolution

#

easiest way to get more fps

raw zephyr
#

or buy a new pc

cosmic thunder
#

ill just buy a new pc

#

after 10 years

#

i don have money

#

4090 low settings and statically traced just gets 200fps

#

so a new pc doesnt seem to fix anything

cosmic thunder
#

gpus are too expensive these days

fair gull
#

at least from the looks its just really badly optimized

cosmic thunder
#

damn

fair gull
#

even with frame generation its just around 320fps on qhd low settings

cosmic thunder
#

with 4090?

fair gull
#

this video is just 4090

#

and a 13900k

#

the setup doesnt change the entire video

cosmic thunder
#

developers should work on optimizing the game right now

fair gull
#

also i mixed up segments.... 1080p runs at 180fps on the 4090

#

on low settings

#

frame generation seems to be required for high fps

cosmic thunder
#

does frame generaration also reduce latency?

#

like input lag

fair gull
#

fps doesnt influence input lag?

cosmic thunder
#

wut

fair gull
#

input lag is the time from your input at the keyboard/mouse to when the game handles it

#

you seeing the action faster or not is just not in the equation

#

as i previously mention im also not sure how exactly frame generation works nor if its beneficial in ANY competitive games as its just made up frames that were never calculated by the graphics card

cosmic thunder
#

hmm

#

i see

#

thanks

fair gull
#

but yeah it seems dx11 runs bad and dx12 with low raytracing settings seems to run best

#

may vary from gpu to gpu as well though

#

game seems to have some serious issues since its not cpu bound or anything on lower resolutions (at least form the quite long video i posted the percentage doesnt go that high)

cosmic thunder
#

so its not bottleneck issue from cpu?

#

and its just badly optimized

raw zephyr
#

indeed

cosmic thunder
#

well i rather play a circle game on my celeron laptop

ashen spindle
#

Frame generation increase input lag so you never want to use it for those games

fair gull
#

i thought it runs on the gpu and wouldnt influence any of the input pipeline

nimble canopy
#

frame generation uses the previous and next frame to generate the frame
so it will delay when it actualy shows the next frame

fair gull
#

imo what you see isnt part of input lag though

#

from what i understand of how people measure input lag its purely click/press to action

thick elk
#

to visible action

fair gull
#

the visible action matters?

ashen spindle
#

Yes if it gets processed instantly but you see it 5 frames later it feels like you have 5 frames added latency

fair gull
#

hm

#

so its more like a perceived input latency

#

rather than the actual input latency

ashen spindle
#

Sorta but also not really

raw zephyr
#

end to end latency

#

you click, it shows up, that's what matters

ashen spindle
#

While for the first frame it arrives in time but gets displayed late you then have a later response from that so the next time you think you need to press a button in time is a delay so it’s lagging behind

fair gull
#

i feel like end to end is as loose cause it could be any end to any other end

raw zephyr
#

you are just nitpicking now

fair gull
#

just trying to understand terminology

thick elk
#

I never looked into it but one could also test input to auditory feedback as a messurement at some point.
This could be faster in theory if you shoot hear a hitsound it would be a form of latency in that regard.
Granted not the most important one but still.

nimble canopy
#

but from everything i have seen (never used it) their is extra delay
maybe the delay testing works bad with frame gen because it relies on something poping up and how do you do frame gen when something just appears

fair gull
#

thats why im asking to understand though... there seems to be a disconnect between what the name of the metric and what is actually measured

ashen spindle
#

No testing is working fine with it, so something like led on the mouse for left clicks and then you have a 1000fps camera and you check how long it takes for the gun to shoot or whatever it is you are doing with left click

nimble canopy
ashen spindle
#

Depending on how it’s integrated on the game and what data is given to frame gen it can be better or worse but it inherently has added latency

fair gull
#

that sounds like it shouldnt be input latency though. it includes things that arent input handling

nimble canopy
#

their is latency for making the generated frame but how much is it?

fair gull
#

imo thats more of a perceived latency test as it includes the factor of when you perceive the input you made

ashen spindle
#

Call it click to photon latency or whatever then it’s the same thing for people and it does the same result for people who aren’t so old they wouldn’t notice it at all anymore

fair gull
#

oh thats a good name

#

although it still is something you can only really compare to other devices on the same system with the same software

ashen spindle
#

But input is what matters here and there isn’t a case where you actually need the input to game engine code latency or something so less accurate names don’t really matter

fair gull
#

i mean i took them as universal metrics that cut out all the extra stuff like engines etc

#

but now i realise i cant compare latency results from 1 test rig to another

mint skiff
#

Fellas, I have a new GPU on the way, i'm going from nvidia to nvidia, however people on the internet seem torn about if you need to use ddu or not, any chance you guys can give me an answer?

ashen spindle
#

You can’t measure how much it’s adding and compare that but you can say it is adding and it’s x% of the base fps or something

#

Just DDU anyway

fair gull
#

ye just ddu

mint skiff
#

Then when it comes to ddu, best use safe mode or will i be fine without it?

reef patrol
#

Always use DDU when changing GPUs, even within the same brand.

#

I never use safe mode personally, or reboot.

mint skiff
#

first time upgrading in the same pc, which is why i wanted to know

#

So i'm guessing, use ddu, shutdown, replace gpu, startup and install new drivers?

fair gull
#

like i said i basically took them as the latency for click/press to action so when the usb packet arrives at the end of the cord

ashen spindle
#

I guess that would just be the latency of the input device

fair gull
#

well yes input latency

#

the latency of wlel the input

#

at least to me the rest is already an unknown by usb controller, os and software you use to determine the latency

#

they all add extra time

ashen spindle
#

Then nobody would say get higher fps for better input latency

nimble canopy
#
Hardware unboxed numbers

Waiting for GN benchmarks

But if it actually is like 240 euros, I would consider it since 5800X3D doesn't fall below 300 barrier

cursive summit
#

Oh shit it's available here too

#

270 euros

#

Yeah I'd rather buy the 800X3D

old marlin
#

totally worth it

cursive summit
#

Why's the 5800X3D still 300 euros pepecry

#

Gimme 250

#

At this point it's more likely to buy AM5 and Zen 5

What is this for

Linux specific?

Will AMD suddenly become better at media encode and decode?

Read it and click on links in the article like the original announcement and it says what it’s used for

That, again, doesn't explain anything

it says what is brotli used for in the second sentence

raw zephyr

why are you getting the 7950x3d?

dull axle
#

From the intel 12th gen

raw zephyr
#

no like, do you need those extra cores?

dull axle
raw zephyr
#

makes sense then

#

hopefully they fix the affinities one day

dull axle
#

im seeing if i wanna get the gen 8 or not

#

since INTEL MB's u gotta throw the gens away and then swap a new one each time a new gen CPU comes out

#

not viable

raw zephyr
#

yeah i went from 9900k to the 7800x3d and it's great

dull axle
old marlin
dull axle
#

and gaming

old marlin
#

well

dull axle
#

Altough is overkill

old marlin
#

for gaming they will do nothing

#

ig in blender they could be useful

old marlin
dull axle
old marlin
#

which means they do nothing

#

vs a 7800x3d

dull axle
#

o yea cuz the extra cores would be less rendered compared to the 8 core and 16 threads

old marlin
#

No like they get straight up disabled for games

dull axle
old marlin
#

has to do with how the extra cache is tied to the cores

#

only have the cores have access to it

#

so they disable the ones that don't have the access for games

#

otherwise you'd have a horrible experience in games

#

also not aware of a good blender benchmark

#

cause realistically you will not render on cpu

#

and that is the only thing that people seem to bench

#

even though your CPU will usually only get tasked a lot in simulations or denoising

dull axle
old marlin
#

yes

#

in gaming it is basically 1:1 7800x3d

#

just like

#

don't buy the 7900x3d

dull axle
#

ur not wrong there

steady sail
#

And im happily upgraded my cpu from a 2600x to a 5800x3d :3

thick elk
#

That seems like a decent enough upgrade.

steady sail
#

7000 series is too expensive in Hungary

dull axle
#

mines alright

#

considering im not upping my GPU

#

Theres gonna be a bottleneck but not so much

thick elk
#

It's just a slot in replacement, seems like a relatively easy choice.

steady sail
#

I went from 30% bottleneck to 0%

dull axle
#

once the 50 comes

steady sail
#

Im gonna go with either RX 8000 series or 9000 series thats what i thinking or maybe a cheaper 40 series

dull axle
#

or 9k

#

There shld be discounts

steady sail
#

Yeah that’s my plan

#

The 6700 XT gonna be good for a few more years anyway

cursive summit
steady sail
#

Like in mw3 2023 i went from 80-90fps to 200 stable

#

I mean my 2600X was weak xd

#

Even in cp77 i went from 50 fps to 80fps

#

Without RT on high preset 1080p

#
  • i had ram errors with my 2600x
#

Any higher mhz than 2400 was a no go xd

atomic nimbus
#

What is a very good wireless mouse for gaming?

timber mantle
#

What's your hand size, grip style & budget?

atomic nimbus
#

I don't think I can measure my hand right now but it's slightly smaller than a G402

#

Like when I place my hand on it so there is a like 1 cm gap to where my fingers reach

#

and my grip style is basically holding the mouse on the back and let my wrist lay directly on the table

timber mantle
atomic nimbus
#

palm grip

timber mantle
#

Ah

#

What do you currently have?

#

A G402?

atomic nimbus
#

a g402 xd

#

yeah

timber mantle
#

Mkay

#

2 secs

atomic nimbus
#

The budget won't matter because I wanna head towards something that could help me improve overall gaming experience

#

even if I don't have enough I am still getting the money for anything

timber mantle
#

When you say your finger is 1 cm shorter than the mouse, is that the top or the bottom. I assume top as tho you're using it correct?

atomic nimbus
#

yeah

timber mantle
#

Just trying to figer a rough idea

#

Can you do that on the bottom? The reason I ask is that the listed dimensions are going to be longer that way

atomic nimbus
timber mantle
#

Does that make sense?

atomic nimbus
#

Is this helpful?

timber mantle
#

Mmm kinda.

#

If I were to guess based purely on the image I'd bet your hand is between 13 & 13.5 CM

atomic nimbus
#

I wish I had a measuring tape rn

timber mantle
#

AGain, that'd be a guess.

#

No worries. As long as we're reasonably close we should be able to find something.

atomic nimbus
#

Cool

#

so basically 13-14 cm

timber mantle
#

Roughly

#

I'd also add, again based solely on the image, that you actually use a claw as it appears you arch your fingers.

atomic nimbus
#

Btw weight makes no difference to me because I train my wrists and fingers often so I can't tell a difference in those

timber mantle
#

But that might just be the angle

atomic nimbus
#

Sometimes I would go claw

#

but I usually just rest my hand

thick elk
#

Just wondering from that image, do you user your right mouse button with your ring finger

atomic nimbus
#

yeah

#

middle for middle clicking

timber mantle
#

Logi makes some huge mice relative to other OEMs so most options are going to be a bit smaller, but will likely give you better control.

thick elk
#

Nice a fellow 1-3-1 user.

atomic nimbus
#

Epic

atomic nimbus
#

So which ones should I pick?

timber mantle
#

Well, are you looking for something ergo or ambidextrous

#

Ergos are humped on one side and your hand covers more, ambi is more centered so you make slightly less contact.

atomic nimbus
#

Lemme look those up

timber mantle
#

You can get an idea of the dimensional differences a bit.

thick elk
#

Just from personal experience not all mice are well suited for a 1-3-1 grip, often you want some place in the middle beyond the scroll wheel to rest your middle finger, at least I do.

atomic nimbus
#

Thanks guys

#

Very appreciated information

timber mantle
#

Yup. Happy to help. I'd also recommend the r/mousereview subreddit.

#

Multiple YT channels as well dedicated to the new releases so there's a ton of info and content out there.

atomic nimbus
#

I don't use reddit but imma bookmark it so I can check it out when I do go visit

timber mantle
#

Broadly speaking, I'd suggest one of the smaller brands such as Lamzu, Pulsar, Endgame Gear over the bigger players simply because they tend to try new things more frequently.

atomic nimbus
#

Ah okay

timber mantle
#

Razer, Logi, SS etc tend to rehash/not update as frequently as the smaller ones. The trade off is that the big brands are everywhere.

atomic nimbus
#

Interesting

#

Imma check out the smaller brands too I guess

thick elk
#

G305 may also be an interesting option for being relatively affordable. Personally the wired variant suited my grip quite well and it seems somewhat similar to yours.

atomic nimbus
atomic nimbus
thick elk
#

Those ergo mice serve a good purpose, for people with a mouse arm. Just not a first pick for gaming.
Still I know people who greatly benefitted from having them.

atomic nimbus
#

That's awesome

#

Well imma go through the recommended options you guys gave, might even get several of these kind

steady sail
#

And im still waiting for the pure air from Roccat Prayge

#

Tho im so used to the kone xp air by now

thick elk
#

Using a Roccat burst pro for a couple of years now, mostly fine, just a shit mmb switch / switch setup.
If I wanted to I could have had mine replaced twice in 2 years.

atomic nimbus
#

I'm checking that mouse out now too

thick elk
#

It's wired, but they do have a wireless variant.

old marlin
#

Don't buy the wireless

#

It sucks

#

Updated one should release in like 4 months

atomic nimbus
#

Okay

steady sail
#

Yeah the pure series should release in april or may

atomic nimbus
#

I'll wait for those

old marlin
#

Western release is in april

#

Because they rebrand it there

thick elk
#

But yea, if you use mmb a lot on the original burst pro it quite constently died for me.
Basically first time rma asked me to cut the cord (after which I repaired the old one).
Second time I didn't bother to rma and replaced it myself.

steady sail
old marlin
#

It's good btw

#

Sensor delay is comparable to razer 2khz wirelessgiggle

atomic nimbus
steady sail
#

Meanwhile i cant even tell the difference between 125hz polling and 1000hz xd

atomic nimbus
#

Okay good thanks

thick elk
#

Might be less suitable for your grip style though going from my own experience

old marlin
#

Yea it certainly is a unique shape

atomic nimbus
#

I'm probably gonna buy a few types of mouse

old marlin
#

Also "pure air" is an absolute shit name

steady sail
#

I mean the kone shape is great for palm grip

atomic nimbus
#

If I don't like it I can give it to my little brother as a gift

old marlin
#

It's smaller

dull axle
#

isnt that grip good not just for palm

thick elk
#

He is like me using a 1-3-1 grip which changes a few things.

dull axle
#

im p certain its good for clawing

old marlin
#

Yea

#

But also it still has some weird shape features

dull axle
#

i mean its like the zowie

old marlin
#

Which can make it odd to some people

#

"the zowie"

dull axle
#

and i remember a few mouse shapes try and adopt a hybrid

steady sail
old marlin
#

Zowie has like 8 or 9 shapes at this point

steady sail
#

Oh wait im stupid XD

old marlin
#

Depends on if you count the es

steady sail
#

Im using 1-2-2 xdddd

old marlin
#

I do 1-2-2

thick elk
#

For me at leat, I know I am projecting but what else can I do.
The important parts are having a relatively flat right side, and having a bridge between the mouse buttons to rest my middle finger.

dull axle
#

I just run a good old claw

atomic nimbus
#

If I achieve 4th dimensional mouse grip the shape or form won't matter

old marlin
dull axle
#

i just run the shroud g303

old marlin
#

Literally only thing i am not sure about yet

dull axle
#

i used to run the viper v2 pro tho

old marlin
#

Shroud g303 is such a stupid product

#

Idk why they just changed the dimensions on it

dull axle
#

Biggy hands

#

thats why

old marlin
#

Yea but even shroud dislikes it

dull axle
#

not rlly

#

he said he liked it

old marlin
#

He prefers the original shape tho

dull axle
#

when did shroud say that

#

tho

old marlin
#

A while ago

dull axle
thick elk
#

just how I grip from the front for reference

old marlin
#

New one is just stupid wide

old marlin
atomic nimbus
dull axle
#

Cuz i remembered he liked them till u said he didnt like them

old marlin
dull axle
#

and then i thought cuz he runs logitech

dull axle
#

LOL

old marlin
#

Lol

thick elk
#

The paterned sides hold up fine

old marlin
#

Huh

#

Mime wore in a few weeks

#

Liked them initially

dull axle
#

But for my case idm the heavier mouse or a claw grip cuz thats what i used for the viper v2 pro

#

but the butt of the v2 pro is too low for me

#

Everytime i flick i have initial slow downs

#

Not cuz i sit on the butt of it but when u flick with it and then u gotta stop to deliever a shot and then stop thats when being too light can throw u off

thick elk
#

never herd of the term tenz grip, before, this is just how I have gripped since for ever, just the most natural for me.

dull axle
#

Esp if ur used to fighting or overflicking

dull axle
dull axle
thick elk
#

Its nice to see at least some validation that my grip is not complete garbage as it was pretty rare, reading the difference seems to be that I rest my middle finger on the mouse rather than lift it.

dull axle
#

Since my G303 has a way where if u rest on it, it won't get in the way for activation

#

unless u move it slightly when during intense fights

#

But then again if i compare the v2 to the g303 tho

#

Id make the v2 my go to for lighter situations for endurance While the g303 has a perfect claw grip which i require hence if i train id get more endurance so the trade off in terms of hybrid grip

#

id say G303 wins in terms of the v2 since the v2 has some way of where when u grip you'd get an hand ache with no proper support cuz its too low

thick elk
#

I have used a g203 in the past, it's a nice and controllable mouse for me, just less comfortable at rest and I don't play competitive anyway.

dull axle
#

Esp for claw grippers

dull axle
thick elk
#

It's not that the burst pro is much worse so no need to use anything else personally.

atomic nimbus
#

I saw a man play Minecraft with a split keyboard and used his right side of the keyboard instead of the mouse

dull axle

The muscle memory and training i can train it up within 3 hrs and id alrdy fit right in

yea 😦

gusty kiln

I just wanted the premium build and spec

also sharp corners

#

sharp corners makes the phone feel more premium

astral haven

apparently tho sony is revamping xperia next year, so in 2-3 years when im next in the market for a phone, we will know more

gusty kiln
#

I think apple is the only one who can make rounded corners look good

gusty kiln

unless they are carefully sized just for the japanese market

astral haven

they used to be alot more popular in the eu, hopefully they will make a real attempt to comeback before they give up

and technically Motorola

lenovo is very chinese

gusty kiln

yeah, just dunno where the actual motorola office is located nowadays

thick elk

yes but Lenovo as a company is not completley centralized in china

astral haven
gusty kiln
#

they've been bought/sold so many times

#

yeah owned by chinese, but still american office

#

lenovo is based in Hong Kong, so that makes it a bit better

thick elk
#

Either way the situation is different from a Xiaomi for example

astral haven
#

thats logical tho, and chinese scaremongering isnt logical, so its still bad

thick elk
#

Also didn't know the choice in phones was worse in the US.

astral haven
#

yup

#

we actually banned some smartphone makers entirely

thick elk
#

Makes sort of sense with Android not being dominant.

gusty kiln
#

it's like Apple, Samsung, small google, then everyone else

#

motorola is popular at the low end

astral haven
#

"popular"

gusty kiln
#

kek

#

I mean they are giving 120hz screens at $200

#

not too bad

astral haven
#

good value sure, but i dont see them that often

thick elk
#

Can't say in terms of sales volume it's much different in the netherlands.
Just looking at the largest online store, the only non apple, google or samsung phone in the top 10 is a low-end motorola

gusty kiln
#

they are perfect phones to give your older parents

astral haven
#

tbh the most common phone that i see in person outside of the big 3 is still LG

astral haven

thats sales not usage tho

gusty kiln
#

true, but still interesting

#

crazy lenovo/motorola outselling google the past year

thick elk
#

Huawei had some decent market share until it got nuked. here

#

It happens

dull axle

but i think we vet them b4 they are sent in

under PDPA and PDPC

yeah dedicated audio stores are few and far in between in the US

#

even stores just for mechanical keyboards

thick elk

Audio stores that exist in the netherlands are mostly catered to the audiophool.

dull axle

Ours here are not that bad for mice saturation

#

Only thing that is saturated here is the Tax LOOL

gusty kiln

singapore is rather high CoL

fickle ore

anywhere from monthly, to quarterly, to bi-yearly and yearly

cursive summit

Well, what about Meta's?

fickle ore
#

the 0.5% is for year, so divide by times is how much you get if they pay quarterly

cursive summit
#

Lol what

fickle ore

paying more times compounds faster

cursive summit

So you have to invest 77000$ or thereabouts for it to get back you a single share value back a year?

#

That's insane

cursive summit
#

So just a megarich people thing

fickle ore
#

Well you don't get META for ýield hehe. If you want a lot of cash you buy a stock that yields 5-10%. For example, if you bought meta at 90$ the YOC (yield on cost) would be 2% not 0.5%. And usually dividends are increased each year so in 10-20 you might be getting 5 % already

#

The 0.5% is for 440 $

#

Yields are lower for growth stocks

it for long time stock stuff not daytrading people wanting to make much cash in one year

Not many on the consumer side at least.

I'd honestly still be using 10, if they didn't lock some gaming shit to 11 without hacks.

But it was to focussed on their vision to connect everything, phone, Xbox, tablets etc

cursive summit

Tbf Microsoft has a lot to gain by re-entering smartphone market

astral haven
# pale sigil What?

but yes in windows 10, there was a mode that automatically fullscreened everything, and had a full screen start menu

old marlin
thick elk

Netbooks often were sold with linux in the past, back when they were too dog slow to actually use windows.

old marlin
#

but you can order laptops with linux from basically all the big SIs

ashen spindle
#

what you see a desktop being sold with linux in retail instead? lol

thick elk
#

End of the day linux on a laptop is just me installing linux instead of windows.

#

With desktop there is at least the matter of building your own system with no operating system preinstalled.

smoky frigate
#

system76 specializes in linux laptops and their OS is really good

#

outdated now but they're busy trying to replace gnome (waste of resources imo but okay)

pale sigil
#

I can't get over how nice a touch screen is with windows

#

Or well laptops in general

astral haven
#

its actually kinda crazy how windows is now starting to pass ipados and android in terms of tablet useability

pale sigil
#

Ye

#

No

astral haven
#

🤷 ive got access to all 3 and ive been using windows the most

#

multitasking on ipados and android is quite painful, and neither have particularly great options for gestures

thick elk
#

Speaking of random linux, always nice to follow crashing info screens.
Seems this one used a video stream in vlc using cinnamon as the desktop environment. Not one I have often seen.
Considering it crashed probably not the best option.

#

Tablet pc use on linux is still quite meh, at least on kde

#

biggest gripe for me is the on-screen keyboard. While it does get supported more often it does not support function keys / customization and just doesn't pop-up / dismis nicely.

#

But even there steps are being made.

astral haven
#

thats another big improvement in 11

thick elk
#

End of the day probably the main roadblock is application support. Not something anyone but the developer of said program can do anything about.

astral haven
#

i find it hard to believe that ios or android would add something like this however

thick elk
#

Those seem pretty nice.
