so... its bad for your usecase
Sure, either my usecase, or my habits I got from other distros
imo all major OSs at the moment are completely fine on their own
also have to say ubuntu must be the one OS trying to become equal to windows/macos for the general population
didnt even know it has those mechanisms to revert configurations etc
I think it's more of a failsafe for "if user tries to change something with some command they found on the internet but they're not sure what it does", which is perfectly fine for user-friendly OS
Just not for my usecase

good shit

tl;dw features for handheld/mobile devices got carried over to desktop parts accidentally causing it to underperform in longer workloads
That's a pretty big bandwidth jump
But will the bus width still be like, 512 bit at the very max?
4090 is like 384 bit, 1080Ti was 352 bit, it's like the width never really changes
god this going to haunt intel so much harder than we thought
@ashen spindleany comments on the GDDR7 tech and bus width never changing?
and asrock bios options not working
We aren't going to see GDDR7 in next gen GPUs?
idk
I mean, while you are right that memory isn't the main bottleneck, it still accounts for a very large part of.. FPS, I suppose
80% increased bandwidth would definitely result in two digit performance gains
eh thats mostly for cost optimizing and what not
didnt we come down from 512bits in the gtx smth era?
you can get most of the performance with previous gen memory
anyway, so about the more cursed news
I don't quite understand why the memory bus never increases
Where's 1024 bit bus, is it expensive to do?
anyone want raptor lake refresh refresh?
that's right we might get a 14th gen refresh
Even if, 7700XT for example runs on 192-bit one
That's kinda sad when compared to what was before
i think the main reason to increase not increase bus width is specialized controllers and it needs more ram chips iirc
also wasnt there rumors last year or so that the next nvidia flagship will be 512bit bus
for all we know they could make some G7X special memory again, and cut that down as they need
Actually not bad https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/8700g-fortnite-performance
132 FPS is very nice
it doesnt really matter since they can change that quite late and only really matters to not starve the cores
49FPS in Baldur's Gate 3 and 41 in 2077 though I think are the real kickers
let me guess 1080p
iGPU gaming is actually proper
mid settings
Strix Halo will be bonkers
it's still cheaper to get a cheap cpu and cheap gpu for same performance
but SFF and similar will be happy
Well yes, 1080p med
That's what people usually tend to test iGPUs on nowadays I noticed
and yeah it's more of a run up to whats coming soon-ish
Yeah I think that low end GPUs are very much getting endangered
AMD is in a position to manufacture CPUs with the capability of easily running 1080p at all qualities
We'll see if AMD can also endanger dedicated 1440p GPUs with the Halo
anyway lets talk more about jokes, who wants to get 15th gen aka core 200 but not core ultra bu still the same core as alder lake?
Maybe it's time to make 1080p tiny PC with 8700G?
It's nice... in theory. Not much use having an 8800 something APU with no GPU.
You need the APU changes to happen on the cheaper models, so that eSports PCs get stronger.
I sold - so - goddamn many PCs with APUs in the 1060 days for families who wanted their 10yr old to start gaming.
I actually kinda need a mini PC to connect to my 4K TV and run adblocked youtube with it
I wonder what the pricing is on this
What
Since when does PCIe matter anymore
I'd wait for strix point for better value
maybe the rumors are true and they do a 9700k
with no HT on higher end parts
I mean, arrow lake is taking away HT yes
but we might get a refresh-refresh before
I have a spare B450 board and I think 16 gigs of RAM, I wonder what low-cost GPU and CPU I could get for entry level "TV box" build
4K, minimum gaming capabilities at native, indie titles and oldies, YouTube, movies
Would have to be SFF
Hmm... Maybe 5600G* would do?
If you want only to stream at 4K and play light games, it should be enough
although i cant lie i didnt notice a big perf hit using my 9700k since release
but i also came from a 4790k
its more about the 9700k not have hyperthreading to have product segmentation
Wtf is this article
https://www.businessinsider.com/clippers-owner-steve-ballmer-obsessed-toilets-arena-intuit-dome-2024-1
Hmm... it's x8 card, I dunno if it'll be happy on PCIe 3.0 of B450
How can you be passionate about building toilets
Our favourite "developers" guy
Yeah but 6600XT punches pretty damn well
Also B450 has PCIe 4.. no?
I wish
But yeah, x8 may be enough, it's certainly an issue with 6400's and 6500's x4 though
Lol 6600XT is STILL 400 euros here
That's a major ripoff
Arc A770 is 300 flat while being about as good
Idk how massive are Arc cards though for an SFF build
i have a N5105 and it does 4k transcoding just fine in jellyfin
Ah, I use Jellyfin
I just still can't believe that we really are getting another alder lake refresh lmao, idk if this shows how little faith they have in ARL or how scared zen5 is making intel, what even is this day
its apparantly still printing money
oh no no far from it
But when the same graph when AMD vs Nvidia
mindfactory is such a specific slice of the market...
quin is lana posting
but even though they are doing better in laptop, this is far from printing money
it's intels profit margin
well it was posted recently already so I didnt bother including the entire slide
and while that is still a money gain, it's far from printing money for them
no other public data tho?
yeah next best thing for DiY is amazon rankings but that has no numbers to it
like I am fully aware that mindfactory is not representative of the market
of no market that is
the best you can do is JPR or others that estimate it based on channel flow and earnings for dGPU
and total market share nvidia has like >80% dgpus still
also raptor refresh-refresh seems to have a different name at least
still this is just 14nm all over again
https://videocardz.com/newz/msi-launches-z790mpower-oc-board-equipped-with-dedicated-oc-panel-mpower-branded-ddr5-memory-also-revealed There's a debug display coming with this mobo, nice (Seven-segment display should be a standard on motherboards instead of the stupid LEDs)

Huh wonder if this means they knew about another refresh coming and made some new boards

I thought I saw people use over head straps for that
That seems like suicide by apple if the default is only the over ear straps
you get both
That seems still bad
Because if people use the other one they think it’s bad after some minutes
Yeah I think the overhead straps will be more popular
Can’t see how this is comfortable for longer sessions
do they cost like 300 though?

idk where im going with this
just shocked Apple include accesories in the box anymore
this isn't a smartphone though
Imagine reaction of Apple psycho fans when they find FREE HEADBAND FOR FREE IN DA BOX
didnt they stop including chargers in the box for the new macbooks too?
most people have a dozen usb chargers at this point but AR headset accessories probably not so much
No
But it used to come with a microfiber cloth some years ago, that’s gone
I have only 2 good chargers, and both came with Decks
I have a good 65W cahrger I can use for all my shit
but only the laptop on its own ... I regret not buying the 120W one
They do?
do they?
I’ll say this though MacBook Pro charged ridiculously quick compared to my lenovo, maybe it’s faulty
Despite the brick only being 5 watts more
smaller battery capacity than the lenovo?
60wh vs 72.4 on the mac afaik
Typically Apple is notorious for slow charging
On all other devices yeah that’s true but the macs are surprisingly nice
using the stock charger for sure, that thing is glacial
you can get significantly faster charging using one with more juice
maybe not ridiculous 20 minutes to full battery like some of those chynaphones but 20% to full in about an hour at least
I’m using the 20w brick with my phone and it’s okay up to 50-60 then it slows down a lot
Would be nice with a bit faster charging imo
Macs come with beefy bricks and MagSafe makes for a really slick charging solution
My MBP charges from 0 to 100 within two hours
The phones probably could do better with a more beefy brick
But the next wattage brick I have is over four times the one I currently use for my phone
Doesn’t seem like the brightest idea
I use a 3rd party charger ment for ipads/tablets when charging daytime since its reasonably quick
the slo-mo stock one is better for overnight charging
That really doesn't matter though
Phones charge at set speeds, while you should prolly find a charger that matches those specs, i.e can actually deliver 30W cause I think chargers go in "gears" and allow for not dynamic but set amounts of power delivery
If you go overboard, phone will only charge at set speeds, say, 30W
But I dunno if a charging brick which is rated for 120W but doesn't get a 30W mode would charge at 30W exact and not like, 25W, I wonder
It ships now instead of later
👍👍
My charger is fast asf. 50%+ in 15 minutes iPhone 14
The initial versions of the USB standard specified connectors that were easy to use and that would have acceptable life spans; revisions of the standard added smaller connectors useful for compact portable devices. Higher-speed development of the USB standard gave rise to another family of connectors to permit additional data paths. All versions...
https://www.chargerlab.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/2022092805091131-768x433.png
id be shocked if the iphone 14 charged faster than the 14 pro max, at the fastest it takes about 25 minutes for 50%
There doesn't seem to be much difference between 25w and 45w for samsung when charging to 100%. 45w is faster in the mid point but levels out at the end.
seems there is a bug with the charging that chargerlab experienced
"ChargerLAB has tested multiple Samsung phones and found that even if they support 45W fast charging, their high charging power only reach their peak for a moment, with charging power fluctuating repeatedly between 9W and 36W, unable to maintain a stable fast charging curve."
seems like its fine on the 23 ultra

50% in 20 minutes, 80% in 37
I have the 14 pro max this graph seems pretty on par with mine
i have a 15 pro and its also pretty similar as far as i can tell
Yes charging wise 14 pro and 15 pro should not be too different
My phone support 90W charging, but still need>35mins for 0-100%
Haha what an aggressive curve
5 mins to 50% 15 to 100
Also I’m curious carmonben did you end up getting the s24 ultra?
just gotta not break it in the next few weeks lol
How’s the charging curve on that? I read samsung phones don’t offer that much faster charging than iPhones
Yeah lol
they are an hour faster to full
I must have looked at some wrong info then
the 21u has the same max charging watts as the iphone, but hold it much longer
Pretty good
i think there was a phone that support 210w charging early in year2022
0-100 in 9mins
yea

have oc on amd adrenalin and running msi afterburner with riverturner and its working, is it stable to use beacuse i read that alot of people having issues with that, ignore my second monitor lmao
uhh what exactly is supposed to be not stable
like what exactly are you trying to do, why afterburner when you dont use afterburner to oc the gpu?
I have read that if you use both it can crash or tweak your settings, i use afterburner with riverturner beacuse i like the fps overlay the amd adrenalin is not that good imo
just use rivertuner without afterburner?

"scratches at 6 with deeper grooves at 7" is finally done on a "mainstream" phone
The Titanium Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is here. Titanium is not adamantium - and I recommend protection: https://www.dbrand.com/xray/s24-ultra Samsung has introduced titanium on their new flagship smartphone. The New Galaxy S24 Ultra has not only titanium, but also a new Gorilla Armor Glass. Which - does not damage the glass at level 6. Scratches...
Slick
Maybe it can hold up a lot better now without a screen protector
Don’t want to ruin the anti glare either, that’s such a nice feature of the screen
harder to scratch would normally suggest its harder
which usually implies it should be more brittle
we'll know in a year or two I guess
Yep
I wish every phone had the anti glare
It ruins dark theme apps on sunny days when outside
Can barely use YT Music on my phone when it's sunny outdoors cause that app doesn't have light theme
doesn't have a light theme?!?! unusable
so titanium is the new apple gimmick everyone has to follow
gotta come up with something to warrant the yearly price bump
if only it was an underscreen camera
shitty selfie cameras can go and die in a ditch, at least hide it under the screen
There are enough people to care about the selfie cam on high-end phones.
Though I would personally have the same preference.
I dunno, its not that big a thing here either except among like younger women
germany is also one of the only countries with incomplete google street view, and has the most homes removed from street view
havent heard about that
that sounds very german at least
In the netherlands things are pretty free in that regard, only if you publish footage of a person do things get more complicated.
Also no you are not allowed to just film and record your neighbours lawn. Only really a problem if he complains.
and you don't act on that.
Commercially there are more restrictions, but at work our security camera's filming most of the streets around the bulding is seen as a good thing mostly.
That would be Austria. It's technically illigal over thetd
iirc you can't have a camera installed filming outside your building/premises here if it observes a public space
or at least it used to be like that, nowadays with people filming publically with smartphones everywhere it would be trickier to make a case I guess
In the Netherlands on paper filming public spaces is mostly not allowed, unless you can justify it.
For example in an area with a lot of break-ins / crime.
This does apply for where I work at least.
Another thing would be as long as nobody complains or if you act upon the complains if they do occur its fine.
As always laws are only as good as their enforcements.
Legal here as long as you're not recording anyone specific without permission.
That doesn't cover mounted cameras though.
holy hell
that's half of average portuguese yearly salary
talk about harsh punishments
but yeah, sensible
Filming (when Doing it yourself) in public is allowed. Static filming of public spaces (like a video doorbell or security camera) is not allowed.
Publishing video is a whole different subject
Ans if you have security cameras it also need to be announced. (can be a a sign)
Not saying it's allowed, but from what I have seen it's mostly unenforced and if someone complains it probably will be nothing more than a wrning.
Oh it's Def not enforced
And the police is sort of actively advocating things that go against it.. But it still is illigal
It's also not black and white, it's privacy weight against genuine interest of recording.
also filming without recording legally is also a different matter.
and Canada...which irritates the hell out of me
like
fuck
my image is out there at least twice and it irritates me to no end
and this is on crap I haven't given my consent to be on
one of them is some soaper's "travel with me" vid
I should have shoved them onto the track when I had the chance

Damn the era of 7/8 is here
I don't use a screen protector so this is pretty cool news
Only thing left is sapphire glass
Higher scratch resistance is great, as long as it doesn't come at the price of being more prone to cracking.
oh amd earnings in 2 hours, thats going to be spicy i hope
yea its looking good so far
yep this
not as resistant as kunlun, but much better than older stuff
Quite a bit more pressure this earning

Apple’s long-awaited entry into the world of computers you wear on your face is here. Apple claims that the Vision Pro, a VR headset that starts at $3,499, is the beginning of something called “spatial computing,” which basically boils down to running apps all around you. The Verge’s Editor-in-Chief Nilay Patel answers all your Vision Pro questi...
ooh, small fov actually makes things more interesting for me
ill wait for real reviews
yeah it launches the second of february so not too long left
but why do you like a small fov? it supposedly has a smaller fov than quest 3 so less than 110 degrees
my concern is the huge black bars around
the screens are low resolution relative to the eye
they are known pixel count
the less area the pixels cover, the more dense it is
in the marketing they're pushing kinda hard towards it being a media consumption device
along with productivity of course
i'm sorry but i'm not buying an apple media consumption device. I'll get an oculus 3 or a those AR glasses
yeah you wont be gaming much on this, it already gets hot when just using it for intended tasks
nah its got plenty of power for gaming
apple just doesnt have controllers, and they are nescessary
despite owning an index (that i need to find a way to hook up to my laptop now.), I honestly want an oculus 3.
that and i dont think there will be any major games at least for first gen
demo stuffs, nothing serious
it can run ipad os apps though so perhaps some
i do want a cyclops laser eyes shooting gallery type game lol
not without hands lol
yeah for sure
but laser eyes would be fun
cant say no to that
either way vision pro is just for watching movies on a very big virtual screen
i guess you could do some gaming by sharing the mac screen but i heard that resolution is only 720p?
yea, real yikes move there
wont be replacing the laptop screen anytime sure i think
atm im more interested in the xreal because theyre so small and light compared to vision pro
they are far too low resolution tho
for movies too? havent gotten a chance to try them
like its fine for video but its pain for reading text
yeah i can imagine
also the fov is too small, 50% bigger would be real nice
hm im reading its 40 degrees thats small yeah
only vr type device ive tried is quest 3 and that got me really dizzy, so i think ill hold out for sometime
even if it was just 2560x1440 at 60 degrees, it would be alot better
yep
still using a 1080p input just giving you a bit of undersampling or tracking would also be fine
but its also kinda yikes for apple that a $400? set of glasses has 120hz
from like 2 years ago
that was a strange decision, maybe it'd consume too much energy?
i dont think so but not sure
nah its just the panels were designed for those refreshes
i see
also if the q3 made you dizzy, the xreal might also cause issues
it is covering a large enough part of your fov and isnt tracked to the point of making me sick in a dark room
yea it was horrible lol, took me some 15 mins to feel better again
it was some demo in the store, was playing a video with lots of text
but yeah i think i'll just wait until this tech matures a bit more. its really interesting tho
i'd totally be up for watching movies and doing some work on ar devices
same
but i just dont think ill be able to handle the low resolution
so used to real 4k...

Hi all, question, got my wooting 60he and does anyone know why it wont work on usb 1.1?
k.. i use a kvm and one of the inputs is 1.1 and meant for keyboards and is the only input to have hotkeys connected to it to switch between devices..
Time to get a modern KVM, sorry 🙂
my keebio works on it just fine, figured it was something like that
Hello guys i recent buy new pair of headphones, in the specific the DT 990 PRO 250 OHM. pair with an audio interface, the Audient EVO 4, but i have a problem, i didn't do any researches about the EVO 4 (my bad), and i can't use the headphones because the lack of OHM the AMP have, so anyone know any other AMP i can use with the amount of OHM required? thx for your time.
its modern, besides that port, lol
the audient evo 4 is quite able to drive the dt990 pro 250 ohm
turn up the volume
you might have to turn off gamepad and nkro
Yes ofc i can hear the sound from it, but is muffled i don't know how to say in english but is like hear underwater (sry im new about audio device)
its a great kvm, minus that.. whats gamepad and nkro? (googling as im typing, lol)
its either not plugged in fully (check the headphone side of the cable too) or just low volume
there is volume control on the evo4
oh, on the keyboard
whats the downsides of disabling nkro?
cant make key combos of more than 6 keys
I do everything correct i double check everything, otherwise i saw on the website of the Audievent EVO 4 that the audio interface can run only 50 OHM
ahh.. weak. ill just manually plug it in to the usb 3.0 port when i use the wooting.. which i use only for gaming. but was just unexpected
thank you for taking time to help @astral haven
thats actually the opposite of how that works
you just need to turn up the volume, but if its actually muffled, not just quiet, the problem is with the wiring
OI of less than 50 ohms means your headphone needs to be more than 50 ohms
or itll be quieter and less power than expected
I don't know to explain i can hear only the bass not the highs
did you check all 3 connections for the headphones?
But i guess im dumb i cant complain how that work
What do you mean? The only connections that i plug in is the headphones with Jack 6,5 and the power USB C
oh i thought all the beyerdynamic pros had detachable cables
no
but the cable is a 3.5 cable with a 6.25 adapter
make sure the adapter is fully seated
I double check ofc
once you are sure, turn up the volume of the evo
first make sure the volume in windows is maxed
then click down the main volume button on the evo and turn it to the right to increase the volume
be aware that on new devices, the 6.25 can be really hard to fully plug in
I always use the maxed level volume on both device (Windows and the EVO) and is still playing muffled, i dont know why is strange and still belive is because the OHM
oh also on the beyerdynamic, the 3.5 to 6.25 adapter has to be screwed in, if its not fully screwed in, it might not make proper contact
i can assure you that is not the problem
wow AMD is taking a tumble
and all they did was meet expectations
Ok that make sense
Then what is the problem
again i think its bad contact
can you send a picture of the jack while its plugged in
They havent done that much in general
Wait i have idea the problem can be bad Equalizer? or tune? maybe i just need to tune the headphones
Amd the masters of overpromising
yes wait a second
They uh, didn't overpromise?
make sure to turn off all eq when trying out new stuff
and underdelivering, and shit code, and low market share
They did multiple times through their history it's their specialty
Especially gpu wise
this time, not really
it was market overhype
and to say they "met" expectations is a tiny bit of a stretch
it's really a mixed bag
The 7900xtx really didn't land where it was supposed to
...I meant in terms of important shit to shareholders
not your dinky little framerate boosters
don't they render graphics on CPUs still?
Oh i'm talking in terms of manufacturing
And results
Like they were clearly expecting more from their architechture than what was delivered
Still made a good product it just didn't land where it should have
So much dust
lick it
the real reason was the q1 guidance, not the earnings
yep...
it's a short term disappointment though
may as well throw more money at it
now that it's nicely discounted
are you sure thats fully plugged in?
can you pull it out and show?
Didn't sell tho. Forgot. Lol
Yes is full plugged but i can show you
idk
market open might be better
i looked up pics online you are good
ok
tmr will be interesting def to see what happens with GOOGL, MSFT and AMD
Do you think i need a EQ software for better audio ?
no
WORLD indices will be down for sure 😄
google is also not doing great after hours, missed several marks
microsoft did well, still dropping in after hours by more than to be expected
you can use eq when it works to adjust the sound to your liking. there is https://autoeq.app , which delivers presets for a lot of headphones to make them sound good as shit on most devices
Automatic headphone equalization
AMD is kind of a bloodbath right now
I'll sell what I have tomorrow
sell low thats the right idea lol
the little I have so I can move to something else
for now
Even META went 2 % down afterhours, away with the bathwater I guess. Jesus QQQ is tanking.
zuckerberg bath water
ok im trying thx
I want to leave now, see if I can scoop some up later for less
if it did this poorly, it surely won't fare well tomorrow
Good time to sell rn tbf
You guys should make your own STONKS channel
you
should shut up
and get in on this
pleb
Naa its related to tech
Debil you bought it at like 10$ or something right?
AMD's not far off ATM so rn selling's fine
I'm a great investor in my checkinng account
a little over a hundo
sold most around 180 ish?
how to get in to trade, is there an app for not very high IQ individuals
still holding onto...a hundred shares haha this blows
Yeah sell that imo
Buy Intel
That drop though
just use a bank/broker
the only reason I could see myself doing that is because Biden is throwing money at them
and that's not a super bright idea
Foundries are important
no, I don't trust some asshole with my money
because they are NOT competitive at all rn
Intel will hold a fuck ton of advanced foundries soon
Imo that alone will be massive for them
might grab a block of a hundo
as a flier
you need millions to set up your own brokerage lol
your only option is using a bank of some kind
My amd average is in the 40s, so I'm chilling
I use my country's biggest bank, they have a brokerage lol
I always laugh at earnings goblin crying
okay, then if I meet a banker that I like. the previous guys that tried to sell me something gave off an air of arrogance, didn't inspire confidence.
???
how about online banking?
best thing you can do in that case is OEO
although you may wish to get some guidance via roboadvisor that'll throw you into a fund after some KYC stuff
no
that's twenty flavours of illegal for me and I do not want to end up in a court as a result
also keep in mind that my "investment strategy" scares any advisors around and they'd never sell this to you for a reason
this shit can go real bad, real fast
I appreciate your offer though :>
I wonder if I should buy more defense ETF shares
damn
can't wait for RE9 VR to be a Vision Pro exclusive
Make me bankrupt for a meme please
I'll end up in a court
after you end up at the bottom of a lake
I don't want that
too much paperwork for me
But nah it's pretty easy, just open a Robin hood account
Or get a normal loan and squander the money
remember when I said lisa was sandbagging?
they original statement was "over 2 billion in 2024"
AMD says Microsoft has brought up GPT-4 on MI300X in their production environment. NVIDIA who?
Overall expecting $3.5b revenue for 2024 for DC GPUs, up from $2.0b estimate given last quarter. So almost double the units.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ok forward guidance is absolutely awesome
if not wide and...somehow below estimates?
25 sounds reasonable. I never timed it
guidance has not said anything about turin yet only that its coming this year so they dont know the destruction that will bring in data center to intel
until it happens, no one will
which will make it so much mroe fun
mmmmhm
AMD's Lisa Su said on the earnings call that the new MI300 GPU chip is "now tracking to be the fastest revenue ramp of any product in our history," which suggests that some customers aren't enjoying their dependence on Nvidia
idk
going to think long and hard about this AMD hold or sell
might buy more tbh
I have some money just lying around haha
I mean my current guess: zen5 makes stuff go up, then we have x quarters of ???? where ai bubble might pop or not and nvidia does some things and then mi400 is going to be at least as destructive as mi300
but on the other hand, both nvidia and amd stocks are out to lunch P/E wise
NVidia to a much lesser extent
what
AMD is...um
yeah idk if it goes down before it rises again or not which makes this really hard to decide, like I know amd has massive things in the future, but idfk what the rest of the market is looking like in that time frame
a P/E of 80+ is absurd
much better than...the what, 1300+ of AMD?
the super high pe number for amd is a short term thing
Btw i try the last change, i plug and install the software of EVO and headphones to my macbook, and magical the audio work fine i dont know why but on my windows pc is sound like bass boosted audio,i cant explain why
if you have random eq software, get rid of it, but its good to confirm that its not the hardware
yes
where i found this?
search sounds, click this
ok thx
click playback, right click on the audient, properties, enhancements tab
done
hit apply, and is it still messed up?
unluckily yes
Do I uncheck something?
if this is your first time here, install normally
If youve done this before,
close this
open device manager
find evo 4
right click, uninstall driver
no
nothing change
i try to find evo 4 in device manager and is not there i reinstall the driver and same as it was
it might say audient rather than evo4
same was not there
console gamers
extreme budget peeps looking for display adaptors or just a card that can game
because that'll do fine for 1080p today
System integrators
OEMs are going to be throwing these in systems haha
14900K + 3050 prebuilts
...ugh
I'd hope these would be like R5 and 3050 prebuilts
around a thou or so USD
with a simple 1TB SSD, generic PSU
I could see that being a quick to recomend system for most peeps just interested in a cheap and cheerful prebuilt
lol 10 years ago it'll always be an i7 and the bottom of the barrel gpu
as a "gaming PC"
talk is cheap. put the money where the mouth is!

RTX 4080 SUPER gets the first review As we mentioned, NVIDIA has delayed the release of RTX 4080 SUPER reviews. The exact reason for this delay is a simple mishap with Founders Edition sampling. Some cards simply arrived too late to give every reviewer the same amount of time for testing. As a result, the […]
drivers shouldnt matter
th card doesnt have any big changes where the driver needs to have more info
Won't change much
and also reviews were originally out yesterday so reviewers would already have drivers for that
That's the one thing
That this card is supposed to be
And 2% to try to catch up to the xtx in raster
That's what was expected
Reminds me of when the 2080 super was released and I was faster than it with my overclocked 2080
4080 super is just the 2080 super again, a very slight boost
And a price drop
5% more cuda cores, yeah lower price basically same performance
Regular 4080 sitting on shelves may get some nice clearance prices as they're EOL and most people will buy the super just cuz its newer
I doubt it’ll be better than super pricing tbh
We shall see
And either way…you know the specific specificities of my build
I'm not saying your build is a bad choice
4080 in many palces arent even in stock anymore
I know, i'm talking smaller retailers
Guys i need your help i want a 80 or 75% keyboard but it isnt out yet is the full size wooting worth it or should i buy a 60%
Full size wooting is worth it
I love mine
And debil loves hers
performace is the same it's just personal preference for layout
those wont care if they have a product on shelves a few weeks more
True for most but again depends
Yeah exactly but im kinda more a 80% guy and also is the pulsar x2h worth it or is another mice for 100 worth it more?
I have no clue about the x2h but for mice its all about personal preference
And grip
All depends on what you want
I like the g502 but you maybe wouldn't like it because you want something light
Yeah around 60 for me is great
Yeah it all depends on personal perference
Im choosing between g pro 2 or the pulsar x2h
Some people play well with some mice and play badly with others
Yeah true
I'd probably go for the g pro 2 cuz im already stuck running ghub for my headset
😛
And i've had no issues rmaing to logitech before
Alr thanks was curious because this is my first like big purchase for M and K
Having a company take care of you when you have an issue i think is an important thing so if i know they have a decent rma system and i had a good experience with it i prefer going with thay
Pulsar i have never owned or used one of their products nor do i know what their rmas are like
Maybe look it up and see if they're rated to have good cs
Will do thanks yet again
Logitech has decent cs and rma, only issue is they take a bit to respond at times
So yeah i'd go logi if you have another logi peripheral like a headset since you're already stuck running ghub or go pulsar if thay's not the case
And if pulsar has good cs/rma (i have no idea personally also one thing to remember is people tend to post negative things more often than positive things)
It does seem cheaper than the logi so it may be a nice choice @wintry pier
Alright
Nvidia's website is down for some reason
I had heard it was

Guys someone know where i can order the rtx 4080 super?
I have problem with the official site of Nvidia and i wonder where else i can look for this GPU
At any electronics retailer in your country soon enough I would expect?
Saw a 7900XT this morning for sub-700 euros
Amazing price but.. kinda happy with my rig for now I suppose, it's pretty old but it still gets work done
ok so im not the only with problem
Cool, URL exploits
This is just a weird comment though, "Ars representatives had nothing further to add."
You are Ars, why are you writing in third person
So they are just pilfering my private messages
Thanks, googlez
Man that ai is gonna be so good at giving you a random 2fa code
Raspberry is selling out?
https://www.theregister.com/2024/01/30/raspberry_pi_ipo/
Went well for Unity didn't it
I don't see why would you want to IPO
If you are a private company with so much popularity as Raspberry, WHY would you IPO
Why would you subject yourself to investors
Typically to gain investment money to expand into something.
Isn't Raspberry profitable enough?
There's always more money, and not always enough investment.
Or maybe the owners are tired of being directly involved, and would rather just retain stock options and dividends to move on to new projects.
On one hand RPis are selling out as soon as they are in stock
On the other, they kinda lost relevance and there's a lot of other SBCs on the market https://hackerboards.com/
RPi is meant to be universal SBC, but in the end every missing functionality you have to add with new PCBs, HATs etc. whereas at this point it's better to just go with certain purpose focused SBC
Raspberry is still ahead when it comes to software, but official support is still spotty at best, it took them ages to bring Raspbian to 64-bit, and for now for example proper support for WPA3 still does not exist
AMD Zen5 in 2H 2024, not sooner AMD reaffirms its plans for the Zen5 architecture. The buzz surrounding the rollout of the upcoming AMD Zen5 architecture has now filled the entire calendar. AMD appears unbothered by these rumors and confirms that their Zen5 architecture in on track as previously disclosed. Yesterday, AMD has held its […]
Yeah idk about that one, amd literally didn’t say that?
Some guy from Tom's Hardware apparently did https://twitter.com/PaulyAlcorn/status/1752472072339472806
An AMD rep just confirmed that Zen 5 is on track for the consumer market for the second half of this year.
Yes I said amd didn’t say it because where is that transcript this is the same credibility as the intel rep that said meteor lake is coming on desktop?
Earnings call sure as hell didn’t mention this
And zen 4 also had desktops months before servers officially got announced so this doesn’t make much sense to me yet
LMFAO GN review of 4080S is up
It’s really just Stockholm Syndrominh the market
Since this really should have been the launch price
For the 4080 it should have been
i hope with the super the 7900xtx get cheaper in a few days
The card performs the same and the non super is eol
Yeah but as Steve said this way it’s free marketing on top to pretend it’s new
Now we get hopefully some gpu price wars for some weeks before rdna4
Those results make no sense
Lol
and Canada Computers has everything listed as completely sold out
just one or two cards per store
IN BC
Also is clocked faster on both gpu and memory
That seems more like they didn’t get the stock yet rather than it sold out tbf
1-3% is just way too low
Since the reviews are a day late due to shipping issues with stock
Mindfactory here has about every model in stock lol
makes me happy i got a 7900xtx
Why'd I spend borderline 100 euros more for the same card
Ah it's alright it's just a single retailer being nuts
There's models for 1130 euros which is okay
I mean, it's still a shit card for 1100 euros like wtf
It's just kinda nuts that XTX can be found like 20%+ cheaper than this
While being just superior at rasterization which is all that matters
Nah I didn't see that kind of prices in EU
In NA in some places there's been sales down to 800$
Those are fake
Those were not fake
No real xtx listing are under 900
You'd be very wrong
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/14htjhv/gpu_powercolor_hellhound_amd_radeon_rx_7900_xtx/
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/18re34k/gpu_msi_gaming_radeon_rx_7900_xtx_gaming_trio/
I remember the deals happening and wishing I lived in US
Look at that comment
XTX's being under 900 is very common
Literally like 1 is ever sold at that price
Close to 800 is a bit more rare
Stop getting baited by random one-offs
An amazon 830$ deal is not a one-off
And it's expired
So?
It's not the norm
i bought my xtx for $1,049
but the premium was worth it
for the sapphire nitro+ variant

why would you want a migraine incoming-type blob in front of your face?
why would it induce migranes?
and why would you want your real world stuff to be visible behind your media or work?
that doesnt answer either of my questions
i can't wait to see the first one in the wild
female marques
I ain't watching 37 of marques
this is for people actually considering the thing, which 1.1 million people probably shouldnt be
@shadow minnow when are you getting one
Too expensive
But I wanna try one if they have in Apple stores
same, def gonna take a peek
I doubt
you and most of 8 billion other people
Note to self should still finish half-life alex sometime.
Just never really played it enough to get past vr sickness but on paper I like vr.
I am also mildly car-sick and the two feel the same.
if you are getting vr sickness in alyx, its the computer or the headset, the game is by far the most accessible game with movement
The Virtual display is really the only interesting thing after watching the video of the Vision Pro, the eco system is better for people that have Apple devices though
how about the whole media watching thing?
Good vr "desktop" isn't a thing outside of it yet
Well feel like it kinda ties together with the Virtual display
quest3 is not as good but solidly better price to performance
and varjo xr is better
Heard of issues with the useability of the varjo
Quest 3 is prob the best alternative atm
yea varjo is nvidia gpus only for the most part, but steamvr is definetly a better vr desktop experience than vision pro, and virtual desktop is available as well
I'd actually see myself using that Virtual display function at the PC but travelling with a headset? eeeh, nah
you probably dont fly much
Mostly travel by car so yeah
planes are very different from cars (shocking revelation i know)
😱
i see this mostly as a tv replacement
instead of an appletv and a 90 inch oled, you get a vision pro
Yeah was looking at some XREAL glasses instead
ive got them, they havent improved resolution on the new ones, which is the biggest problem
Ok 🤔
I must add that I was kind of forcing myself to use stick movement, but even without, it was kind of a thing. Where superhot vr was no problem at all, also tried dirt rally which was also kind of bad in that regard with the bumps in the road.
I just have to play in moderation 30m per 48 hours or so.
yea superhot doesnt really have movement, just teleport
Didn't it use to?
Could have sworn you had to move manually, and that was what dictated if time was slow or not.
What
no, you either move your body or you teleport
I thought you only teleported in vr
theres no vr movement system
Yea basically that
Oh in the VR game
yes
Like I said "used to" meaning the normal game 😄
what makes people sick in vr is moving when your body doesnt
and alyx's system is by far the best example of that working
but it has pretty high requirements, and you cannot have much latency
quest is just not good enough
It helps for sure, but doesn't completely solve it. I was using a Valve Index
yea then it was the pc
Even after gpu and cpu upgrade, as the frametimes were fine
its super hard to hold 120 in alyx even on a relatively high spec pc
Could be, but I think the main reason was probably that I forced stick movement and then tried teleporting to see if it helped when I was already getting vr sickness
fine isnt good enough, for 30ish percentile humans or worse, it needs to be nearly perfect
I should try it again sometime on my current system with teleport movement, to see if it is better now.
This is something I thought about for a while, but just haven't gotten around to actually do.
Do you think covering a glass side panel with cardboard will be fine? Xd
gaming time is somewhat limited and I nowadays tend to focus more on one game than scattershot.
make sure you disable virtualization when playing, for flatscreen the minor improvements are whatever, for vr, minor performance penalties can be the difference between half an hour and fine forever
Should also look into if the situation has improved on linux with VR, used to be somewhat problematic. Rebooting for it also puts up an extra barrier.
oh yea linux probably wont work well
it's still garbage afaik
Okay good to know
and older amd cards are also out
6000 or newer or nvidia
and ive heard issues on 6000 too
so ymmv
Using a 7900xt + 7800x3d so that should still be fine. Only thing that does throw a wrench in things is windows really likes to do background processes if you haven't used it in months.
But really it's all something that can be overcome, just a collection of hurdles that make me less prone to play a vr game.
set priority of compositor to high and -high to launch commands and that wouldnt be an issue
yep
theres really no good vr platform for games besides the quest and psvr, and both have glaring flaws
PCVR is great for the enthusiasts, but only the ones willing to go the extra mile for it
At some point I will get back into it but I would have to say for a while, my gaming time is VR time. At the very least I can be sure that I won't be over consuming.
Worried about it shattering?
Doesn't the case have a mesh side panel option you can just buy?
I mean probably but money
Just wondering, are the panels swappable? otherwise you could possibly swap mesh and glass.
Yep
yea, if it's next to the wall who cares if it's glass
I wouldn't really worry tbh
It's against a metal leg
On the OTHER side?
Bruh. Get some metal fillament and print a fucking wall mount for that poor case before you break it.

Debating putting it in here
I can move the wardrobe to the left
And yes there's a bottle on the floor because my fucking dog keeps stealing them and chewing the lids
Kinda why I came to the conclusion that maybe covering the side panel in cardboard will be better
Just a check, you know you are talking in tech-talk?
Yes
I know everything is, just not the usual spot for this.
Fiber fill filament please
Metal printing for strength is only a thing with omega expensive machines
I'll trust your knowledge. I don't print 😄
It doesn't look bad
My wiring looks messier
Also having a glass panel against a metal desk leg has never been a problem for me
tg is solid enough, it's corner impacts that break it
A light tap against metal won't do much in the center @pale sigil
Small gap is fine
Look at my quality cable management under my desk
I bet you're so jealous rn
That looks like mine!
Only one who looks under is well my cat
So why would i care
How is that a fire hazard
...?
Damn a ups and monitor cables, scary
Nah
I have an eatx case, my exhaust is way higher
Does it make ambient higher for the ups yeah sure, is it a fire hazard no
It's not like it dumps it directly on it
Hot air goes up naturally also idk what janky ass upses you use but this one has a fan that spins when it's running on battery/gets over a certain temp + were talking about a lead based battery if it can handle the ambient from being in an engine compartment it can handle the ambient from a pc lol
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is projected to launch as one of 2024's most premium foldable smartphones. A new report claims to confirm that it will be available outside of China as well as within that market. It also purports to out the device's processing platform, model number, internal moniker and codename.
Foldables are neat but i wouldn't get one
Then why post this if its not to talk about foldables
It wasn't a question, it was a statement
I'm literally saying they're cool but they're just not for me lol
👀 Didn't ask

...
ok
What do you want me to say then
Cool winnie the pooh edition smartphone?
I guess
I mean, is that new?
For asus it was always "router.asus.com"
I don't mind 192.168. or 127.0.0.1 either
Try .local
localhost?
The difference between .local and .internal is that .local is not intended to work with dns but .internal is.
I have no clue what .local is or how it works
Just typing ".local" in address bar simply does a search
connecting to a device on your network it could be something like hostname.local
that's how it was meant to be used
let's say you have a sever called garbageserv with a webinterface, you could go to garbageserv.local and connect to it that way.
Mmmm I sure love my garbage sewers
.internal is meant as something you could point to on a dns-server on your router, lets say you want to host an internal web-page you could use somewebapp.internal and have the dns point to the right place in your local dns-server (for example on the router).
local is dns
it doesnt work with the global dns system, but it uses your routers local dns
It can work yes, but it is not meant to be used like that.
no, thats the only way it can work
it's meant to be used with mDNS / zerofconf
uh since when?
just because mdns inherited the old standard doesnt mean its exclusively for that
Either way as far as I understand the icann decided on .internal as a distinct name meant to be resolved via a dns-server where .local would remain outside of the dns and is used for devices announcing themselves.
Even if it were an old standard it has esteblished uses now. So good to keep them separate to avoid conflict.
Yup
Most folks have switched dns to .localdomain
Pihole uses .LAN
Now we have .internal as an official standard.
Fun
What’s the difference between the 60he + and the 60he cuz if I want I can just get it shipped now but it says it will be the prebuilt 60he not the 60he+
it would be so fucking funny if IFS opening up is only going to be used for packaing and nobody using the nodes lol
How can you use it only for packaging without using Intel nodes?
Aren't those foundries configured for Intel's own designs?
the article describes how the packaing works
They kinda did not
Just mentioning CoVoS, Foveros and such
Well whatever, it is what it is
yes and it said how it works
yo guys what's the difference between the wooting 60he and the wooting two he
60% vs fullsize
so it's jus a size diff
yea
alr
if i get this new monitor

do i need to get my own display port cable as well or is tht covered?
idk check what the monitor is coming with
Most monitors come with their own cable, but you’ll have to verify yourself on the listing
what's new with Wootility Web v4.6.13-beta? i cant find release notes
would be nice to know what's new
Should I buy a new microphone or new HE switches
Both
new microphone doesn't benefit you
But it benefits others
get the 52 inch samsung monitor
trust me it’s so much better
i have it and it gives me hacks
just like the wooting does
sure but a 30€ mic is more than good enough
Oh yeah if what they have right now doesn't sound horrible
Updates are cancer, are and will be
ok what 12 games
Seems fine?

so its not a gpu issue but your expectations are the issue
What CPU do you have?
Lowering the settings might be a temporary solution.
also i think i saw even 4090s struggle with the game on lowest settings
not going over 200fps
(at qhd ofc)
i think the only way to get to over 200fps in general is frame generation
that fps boosting feature using ai?
