Damn that performance upgrade though, idk how they calculate that, but that's nuts
One of those I'll be buying, and it's probably 7900GRE
Ngl with a card of the 7800XT/GRE performance, I can easily play at 4K
My 32" 1440p isn't the best at ppi
Older games sure
Buying thay gpu for 4k is a joke
If you want to play modern games
I like how people assume that you have to play the newest CoD
I play predominantly indies and oldies
Then you don't need an upgrade in the first place
Or ultra modded games
Well it's more of a "business" expense
I need a card for game development and mine's showing age
Gaming wise I do see very little reason to upgrade
Exactly it all depends in your use case
And again, I would buy Nvidia here cause of CUDA
But those fucks are just so expensive
But we're talking a business expense
wall street really doesnt like the next quarter guiding lol
Well it ain't going to earn me money anytime soon so I'd rather buy a new card but save
It's after hours man.. Check again tomorrow could be -10% or +10%
You don't game much anyways
I know, earnings call in 15
Tbf I got no clue if I even need CUDA, I would assume that Nvidia plays nicer with UE5 and Lumen than AMD does
but often it does stay to what after hours went to when its bad earnings
ok so you dont even know what cuda means
ue5 is mostly made as an engine for current gen consoles so it does play very nice on amd
For UE5 what you want is vram
I'm alright with my 5600
You can do eu5 on an older card no problem
I'd swap that out instead of getting a new gpu
I would get less of a performance benefit from buying a CPU than GPU
True
Telsa went down pretty bad too :/
But if you do just get something with a lot of vram
If anything developing on mid hardware makes sense cause then you know if people with cheap rigs can actually play your game
ehhhh
Have you started developing yet?
You seem inexperienced
The game project? For now just making notes
I have a feeling like you haven't done much and that this is all just hypotheticals in your head
But theres a start to everything
First I have a small project to get into the hang of things that's just a desktop applet
they arent running lumen or nanite on cuda/rocm/sycl it's run directly on the gpu, thats why its not great on ARC because arc doesnt have 64bit atomics
I just got my BSc, doing the applet to get into hang of things, and then full time development until the end of year and ahead with UE5
Prolly will make the game as my MSc
Understood, gives more reason to consider AMD then
Ok ok
Wasn't really thinking of doing raytracing, but will look into VR
Congrats đ
The 7900GRE is just so good though
16GB of VRAM, insane performance for 600$ or so
I won't have to buy a new card for another decade
@ashen spindle they're growing though again after 2022-2023 which was their worst year
That sentence
Is a meme
The number of times i've heard this lol
Considering the games I play are like from 2013?
Or even earlier?
If a game comes out in 2024 I'll prolly still play it in 2034
For game dev you will need a new card in 10 years lol
You're delusional if you think it will last you a decade
I don't want to be an out of touch dev that makes something and it runs like shit cause it's unoptimized
I'd rather have something that's pretty good, but I have to optimize everything
Then keep a test rig around
Gaming on iGPUs should be a target
if you make something you need a card that is massively faster because you have insane overhead for engine editor/code debugger etc. lol
But for making your games... you'll need proper hardware
^^^^
This
You can test run it on a potato system after
I mean I'll listen to quin considering they literally do gamedev
But to make the damn thing
you can do it on a dos machine
but like, unless you write it in assembly you probably dont want to
worst year (yet)
You probably should since... you seem misinformed about quite a few things
I am very much confident that a high end card and a 6 core would easily tackle game dev
you can do it on a shitty old laptop
but the longer your stuff takes to load up the longer it takes to finish a part
That's true but you're saying things will last you a decade and not taking time as a factor
Time is money
Making your workload more efficient really matters
Plan is to do a game with Lumen for lighting, Metahuman for models and just UE5 to run things, nothing as freaky as raytracing, I should be fine with a decent rig
Yeah with lower end parts you would be spending a lot of time waiting for the computer to catch up
And the game is more like a tech demo
Start by doing fun hobby projects
This is literally what I want to do lol, but just cause the idea doesn't seem insanely difficult but insanely valuable to create
Not even going to sell this cause well, legal reasons
But yeah would work well with finding jobs later or going indie depending on how things go
Well, what I want is more.. new
Few titles did it, but doubt there'll be a lot of documentation
What, UE5 has nothing to do with what I'll be doing lol
It's fine
I'll just be working with a custom AI model to do some fun stuff
Pretty much the project I hope would be of a high enough complexity that it'd be valuable for an employer at the worst
I mean, it's very much a passion project
I want to pay homage to something wonderful by remaking the thing in a modern game engine
Hell maybe the OG devs would just hire me and fly me out to U.S to work there considering AI is literally their thing
Hence, free
That looks like stuff I used to play on my PSX back in the day
I mean, it's not the cleverest of things to just share my "unique idea"
I am remaking this in its entirety in UE5 with proper AI
Lots of hurdles there, but I have planned out how I would do it and I think it'll work out
UE5 would be perfect here
I very much would love to remake that thing in a modern game engine
It's more of a technical complexity than a size one
Cause I am very impressed by current AI games like Vaudeville and Inworld, but they have a major problem
AI just does whatever the hell it wants and fails to progress to story beats
Whereas Facade is just on story autopilot, literal antithesis
So I'll be having lots of fun figuring out where AI should take over, and where story beats will have to take place, and how to make player input actually mean something
Tbf Facade is janky as hell so it should have jank to be authentic anyways
But it just makes sense to try and remake it
Those devs since then last I heard work with AI and do U.S military contracts lol, maybe they'd be okay with licensing it as an official title
good god man.
Tbf I also want to expand the game but I don't feel qualified in writing good characters
Safe option is just a faithful recreation
i remember facade quite a bit, i remember sucking at it mostly. but i'm rooting for you.
I don't think it's going to be that difficult?
nfc, all chinese to me
I am 100% aiming for it to be playable in its entirety by end of year
Considering I'd be investing like 16 hours a day into it for the next 10+ months, I think it's doable
This would be my portfolio project
nice, don't let yourself burn out
I think it just makes sense as a project to do, lots of valuable stuff to learn in such a project
fair enough
I am 100% planning to document the entire journey in its own discord server or patreon or whatever
I'm inexperienced and it'd be great to have support
nice and good idea.
https://twitter.com/IanCutress/status/1750642259144392765 ians thread for the earnings report
Wanna see a real essay ?
So INTC a good buy now?
idk
depends on if you think spinning out fabs will work out and if they can stop making bad products
Well making more fabs cannot not work out imo
As we progress there will be a need for more industrial capability imo
If Intel can provide fab space, it will work out
I am not sure about the products part cause my trust in them is a bit low
CPUs are just based on ancient designs for some reason, such horrible efficiency
if they provide fab space at a loss its not good for their stock lol
logitech g pro superlight skates, anyone recommend good ones (not glass) please and thank you
Their efficiency is limited by fab, not design.
The source is that itâs a larger fab process and larger fabs use more wattage to complete the same work, all things equal
Intel 7 on paper isn't that much different from what I can see from TSMC N7
Even if Intel 7 is just 10nm
And that's not a source
Backwards compatibility at this time is worth more then a better design
The physical laws of the universe are my source
From the historical trend of Intel continuously raising power and clock targets, I put blame of lack of efficiency on the architecture
And zen4 is on 5nm vs Intelâs 10nm - even if Intel is better than tsmc nm for nm, itâs still twice the size
Intel raising power and clock targets is a result of their fab process being behind
That's not how that works lol
Not their architecture
"5nm" "10nm" is literally marketing
Those nodes are nowhere near 2x different in any metric
Youâve now moved into the realm of ânothing is realâ and I canât have good faith discussion about it with you
Comapnies define their own standards of measuring a "nm"
Okay how about this - when Intelâs process is tied with AMDâs in the near future, 3-4 years from now, remember this when youâre looking at work per watt benchmarks
AMD doesn't have a process, they are fabless
That being said Intel is still behind
Yes I know not all processes are apples to apples, but Intelâs is â7nmâ tsmc equivalent at best, thatâs why they named it 7
Intel arguably though are making great strides versus TSMC and Samsung
Brother they outsource fab, that doesnât mean they donât have a fab. They just donât own it
1.8A isn't too shabby
Well yes they are called fabless for a reason
Speaking of biting hard on marketing, see: this comment
What are you talking about
You are biting hard on marketing without even knowing how process nodes really work, cause for you somehow 10nm is 2x worse than 5nm
AMD is literally what we call a fabless semiconductor manufacturer
Here's what we mean about nm being made up
They split from GlobalFoundries years ago
TSMC is in the lead in terms of nodes, prolly not versus SMIC or IBM or whoever but that's a whole another beast
Intel is not as far behind as you think
I believe the missing link is just that their arch is dated and they need a rewrite
Alder was supposed to be one, but I suspect it was just throwing new stuff on old stuff, instead of a pure new node
I DO know the very basic and well known differences in density and voltage required on different processes that go outside of stated process size. The problem is that you think a 10nm node can be the same as a 5nm node because you donât understand the very small span of variability that entails
And they arenât. Which is why I said the difference in power consumption is due to process node difference and not architecture differences at this point in time for Intel vs AMD
Steam link works better anyways

Do you really know if your CPU is performing t...
(Theme: Silicon lottery is still a thing, and it causes issues with reviews)
always have been
and i swear i keeps on getting worse as years pass, i know some hardcore overclockers who went thru 10+ 14900k to get a decent one
And it's a minor percentage
I mean 10% is not a minor percentage imo
it just became more relevant to average consumers because CPUs are a lot higher tuned than they used to be
Oh I read 3 somewhere, haven't watched the vid
Ok that is a lot
from best to worst
It's a great video from the review side of things. So much testing had to go into ensuring that the reviews and future benchmarking results were as clinical as possible.
Imagine having to buy a dozen 7800X3D's just to ensure you can stand by your numbers within a 1% margin or so.
(Also makes a good point about how PC hardware doesn't have the same kind of testing standards like the car industry with governmental oversight and fines for foul play)
also kinda was the reason why they got fucked with past releases
where their numbers did not line up with others
No not really
Even if they always had a product 10% slower that would be consistent in their own results
And not randomly be the same but in one game
with modern day releases 10% can be a lot
if you get a 4070ti super review sample
and it was just 10% slower than all the other cards
yours would look a lot worse on tables
Yeah but that never was an issue for their past numbers
It was stuff like high double digit difference in cyberpunk only because they still had dlss on for example
wasn't their 7950x fucked?
linus said cs2 but theyâve written csgo on the charts
thanks for nothing i guess
whatâs even worse theyâve written âuber shadersâ too which isnât an option in csgo
so which is it?
and then he starts talking about source being a 20 year old engine
you really canât make it more ambiguous if you try
its also very funny that the link for the doc that shows how they tested isnt working, link dead
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUeZQ3pky-w also we already got a bigger sample size comparison for this
This video is a new entry to our "Most Annoying Comment Benchmark" series, which last time featured the comment of "Too Much Thermal Paste." This time, we're visiting the complaint of sample size. We (and likely most reviewers) have seen this comment posted in comments sections for years -- mostly whenever the person's favorite CPU brand doesn't...
GN is for people with an attention span.
45mins... for a SECOND part is more than I can handle. Just give me a summary đ
oh no the part 2 is just for the comment aprt, its not the second video about samples lol
essentially this
no it means its not a second part just a standalone, not worse đ
Only one of those CPUs are somewhat recent.
one?
both the 13600k and 7600 are the most recent gen from both vendors
thats 44 samples
Ah right. I can't read CPU names without the brand name apparently.
It's not an X3D CPU though. Those are my area of interest đ
What's 4100?
basically they did found outliers but those vanished from rerunning so if you run a bench 3 times you can spot outliers that would put it out of a 4% window so any single cpu is fine to use as long as you do multiple passes to spot outliers
R3 4100
so zen 2 super low end
Oh
First time I'm hearing about it
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1554658-we-have-the-same-cpu-we-are-not-the-same-testing-12-of-the-same-cpu/ does an embed work lol
Do you really know if your CPU is performing the same as the ones we review? We donât know. But we know that if we want to increase our testing capacity, we need to PARALLELIZE. But that means we need nearly identical test benches. And trying to make that happen sent us down a far deeper rabbit h...
ok so going to it from embed works if I click on it from youtube its a missing page lol

The tests are from before cs2 released
CS2 still isn't fully released is it?
Huh... guess it is. Thought it was still considered in beta and active development (meaning benchmarks are not great longterm)
I bet Counter Strike 2 will never be fully released
They finished the labs testing in august according to the doc and cs2 release end of September
They said the reran the games but donât show the individual test passes sadly

So... Linux kernel fork with a sprinkle of backdoors? Also looks like it's only ARM targeted
LinuXi Kernel
:')
@fickle ore you were right about intel stock after hours not being accurate
They fell down even more today
fun
And amd on another high
imagine sharing a chinese OS as a viable option
yep
so what the fuck is âuber shadersâ in csgo
almost 3 years with Pat as CEO, still not much improvement
youâve just made it worse quin
underpayed delivery man delivers your shaders
Hopefully just a typo like them also putting the lows in the wrong boxes on some charts
ltt never changes
Nope lol
You're kidding me... they specifically promised to set up double checks on this shit after the Linus meltdown.
spends millions and still canât produce factually correct slides
Whole market is down yesterday and today. Had such a facemelting rally since the start of the year, even a bullish medium term perspective must include a retracement down to a discount
I'm betting that price has already started moving towards a discount, and any rallies intra-day are selling opportunities đ
Can it please be down another 50% lol
I missed a chance to enter amd again and now I canât call if they drop again or not before the next high
If you draw a range on the current Nasdaq futures contract from the low of the year so far at 16,334.25 to the high of the year so far at 17,793.50, then a 50% retracement that defines a move into "discount pricing" would be 17,064 and below.
Oh I meant amd only not the rest of the market lol I only have some insight there not anywhere else really
Though I guess market down in general causing that would be nice to since thatâs easier to correct for one stock
That same concept applied to AMD would take the low at 133.30 to the high of 184.92 as the dealing range. Top half of the dealing range is premium, bottom half of the dealing range is discount. Therefore, discount is at 159.11 and below.
Rtings has an article about how they do it
Yeah the outlook for Q1 wasnt very good
And itâs about to get so much worse
But my INTC cost basis is 28$ and AMD is 67$, im not too worried
Nice
Im still bullish on INTC for 2024 and even more so for 2025-2028
If its doing bad now then its good time to buy if you belĂeve in IFS and their server/cpu market going forward, and in any case it's a bet against current geopolitics
I think desktop and servers are getting hit hard and I donât see how maybe laptop alone can keep them going up this year lol
I firmly do not believe in their capacity to innovate their way out of a paper bag
And then they got complacent
Yeah and nobody ever got fired for buying IBM either
And it's been a solid 15 years since they've done anything remotely interesting
Sure but keep in mind markets look atleast 6 months forward, so if you know Q2 of 2024 will be the worst then Q1-Q2 is the time to buy
Oh no I donât recall any site showing what manufacturers do just review sites
No I think q2 is the start of a bad 2024 for intel lol
could be or not, I see much more upside on INTC than AMD/NV on the fwd P/E's and growth they trading it
Cant sustain that growth
Well you look at your Wall Street numbers I look at hardware performance numbers
đ
And I donât see how intel can make good magic numbers when they are getting another beat down
They need inside growth numbers every Q to pull that off
You mean better revenue every quarter?
Yea
Doesnât seem too hard
Company is doing super good but the issue is people have nearly priced AMD out of market imho
The amount of people in HPC and sever that just want mi300 to not deal with Nvidia is immense
And on cpu side intel is not recovering when zen5 is out
rumor is that the zen 5 X3D won't be out till 2025
Yeah possible
implying no threat this year
Because no competition and people showed they are willing to double dip for those lol
unless intel just go full blast
Yeah, 300W CPU!
I'm only interested in intel's super low pwer chips
n300 is crazy
arent they alot more expensive than n300 systems?
ah you want a storage server not a virtualization/router box
@ashen spindle Think about it this way, AMD's mktcap is 0.3T, APPLE is 3T. So at most it could prob grow is 10x in this market. It has such insane growth estimates that it only commands a 48 FWD 12-month P/E, while the TTM P/E is 1600. How many years can it grow at this insane growth % to justify the price, and how many years doest it need to bring the P/E closer to tech stock average of 30~? If it can, that's freaking awesome. However there's a large downside risk like with TSLA
yeah, at most just a few services and occasional VM
I like the company, I dont like the stock.
yeah I saw the review for that, pretty cool
I mean given that mi400 from the early whispers makes nvidia more scared than mi300 and intel just not getting a chance before that timeframe either I dont see them stopping in the close future
then with having pensando and xilinx it adds what you need around it for DPUs and such and you have a complete offering
as a company sure, but they have to keep that far ahead of companies with much more money than them for the stock to stay that high
yeah and I will not be surprised if they cant keep it up forever, I just dont see it fail with whats in the immediate pipelines
yep but again we arent talking about the company performance
Yeah but most investors have a horizon of 5-10 years
no
lol no
yeah...ugh
most investment dollars have a horizon of 5-10 years, but most investors by count are gambling
Oh lol I said most kekw
depends on the institution, majority are fairly long term, but not that long term
and the minority that produces retail is either self directed and volatile
or run through advisors and a lot more controlled
*should/are instructed to have a horizon of 5-10 rs
I sold a chunk of my AMD...pretty sure positive earnings are already priced into current price and tbh, I'm worried there'll be a selloff the moment earnings don't exceed the wildest of expectations
still holding some in case I'm wrong though
Im very worried as well. Was the earnings today or next week?
next week
Ill hold till then ig
tbh, I'm happy with the gains I've made on my AMD stock, more than willing to divest a bit and go into something else
yeah its always better to take lower gains that already outperform rather than chasing a bitcoin unicorn
I think I made something like 70% since I bought it in autumn of last year
yes, but I'm still holding on to some, in case I happen to be wrong and it actually hits 200+ USD a share like some analysts think it might
ye thats what I mean, I think it probably will too but not going to put everything on it since then its gambling like slots and not like poker lol
tbh
I put the proceeds from that sale into a different stock at a piss poor time
think I'm down a few percent rn xD
haha
still up a stupid amount YTD, don't give many fucks
besides
it'll come back up pretty soon
earnings for that stock are...also pretty soon, and pretty sure that earnings report is priced into current, but it's also a long term hold for me
yea my gambling account is mostly held up by amd, my actual account is on a boring target retirement date fund
"gambling"
tsk
I used to hold an Israeli cosmetic surgery product manufacturer
was going absolutely wild up and down dependent on the economy
divested in late september before...well
somehow Israeli companies weren't such a stable or sensible decision
pretty good while it lasted
wonder if some day some of their products will end up in me
ah yes investing in the middle east, great idea
Israel was and still really is a beacon of stability
so is a house of cards until it falls
nope
and what said company sells really is, for lack of a better way to put it, a luxury good
it'll be great as long as things are going great
tbh, probably should have bought more in the 7-10 aftermath
stock took a tumble and seems to have already recovered somewhat
i mean if you wanna gamble, thats definetly gambling
nah, if I wanted to gamble, the horse track still has a betting ring
I just don't know if I'm still unwelcome
I locked in 3% this week and have 3% unrealized profit still open, I prefer this well far and above "investing" đ
its still gambling even if the percentages are high
amen to that
but I prefer calling it "investing for aggressive growth"
or aggressive gambling
which is what it really is
not like I have a family to feed or anything
it isn't the level of gambling
People say gambling like it's a naughty word
if you are putting money in that can go down, but you are hoping it will go up, its gambling
this
gambling is "all or nothing"
and if I really wanted to be an asshole, I could 350% just set up automated trading system, and play off of volatility of some of the most commonly traded stocks
guarantee a percent or so a day idk
I just don't want to be taxed as someone who makes most of their income from that
you're only supposed to do things that have 100% chances of success, don't risk anything smh
If you count cards at the casino to gain a legitimate and mathematical statistical edge, plus a helping of sound money management, you're still gambling. Laughing all the way to the bank
gambling is not all or nothing, its any chance game with money
There ain't nothing in life that's 100%
except death and taxes lol
Except death and taxes
that was sarcasm, I don't use /s a lot
haha yea
losing means losing whatever was on the table
stocks go up and down with some certainty
some more than others
unless something is truly FUBAR, you should be able to exit with something
Remember kids, tax evasion is bad but tax avoidance is good!
So don't forget to set up your s-corp
oh
in Canada
we have a super cool account that allows for not paying of capital gains
delicious
50% loss on a $100 investment is not $50 gained, its $50 lost, not sure what you are talking about
us too ofc
100 bucks on the table at a casino on a lost game means 100 lost
every time
the markets have a higher degree of control
one can "lose"
without losing everything on a given position
1 thats not true
2 $50 lost is still $50 lost even if you put in 5 million or whatever
One of these days we're gunna have a "Money Management with Akbar" fireside chat because there's some wild concepts being thrown back and forth here and I don't have the time to address them all đ
as long as it includes a backyard bbq, texan style, with Mark
provide the europoors some actual culture
Money Management tip #1:
Don't grind brisket
...people do that?
my workplace has me grinding chuck, knuckle, shoulder clod, whatever
and trimmings to get proper fat ratios
Canadians are notorious for it

A company I used to work for made millions a year by buying briskets in Canada at just over commodity grind prices, shipped them to Texas, and sold them at a hefty premium
...that's perfectly fair
considering what a brisket goes for, and how often they really sell
it's often a crapload more effective to just...grind them
pretty much anywhere here
a brisket sells for less than ground beef, per kilo
I guess different cuts are prized in different places
in Brazil, they price top sirloin cap as they would strip loin
here, cap is an afterthought
most places don't even separate it from the top sirloin before cutting steaks and roasts
but that means it gets top sirloin prices
and therefore, often is rather cheap
I'm up 145 % on AMD, 208 % on META and 55 % on INTC đ
I should prob divest a bit
2022 october was pog for stocks
Nah lolol it still has the most potential
hold it for now
now that shit earnings have been priced in, may as well hold it till next time
Yep
you have no idea how many dumb memories that brings back
yeah but next shit earnings are not priced in yet
may as well wait and see
stock might also recover a bit before then
which would be a decent time to sell
either way, safe to say Dag isn't on a tight timeline either
Nah lol
All I can afford to loose
Just mainly boring monthly add to FTSE/ACWI IMI world acc index.
but 2022 was so good to pick corps since everything was on a discount
my S24U arrived, a very nice feeling brick
nice!
Neat, what color did you go for?
I'm boring so titanium black
Haha cool
id ask how the zoom is but you dont have a phone with a 10x to compare against
not real
yeah
Oh wow, the anti-reflective works really well
side by side the S24U screen is pitch black when off, but I can see the light gray of my S20 FE
interesting
Buds Fe fit really well, but still not as comfty as earbuds for me
could try the comply
im getting real tempted to nab myself tho
Sorta same
i should wait for the xperia but its gonna be over double the price with all the preorder bonuses...
I was thinking about checking out the Xperia but seeing Samsung with 7 years of updates and the flat screen I really dig
Pen is nice too for quick note taking
yep
xperia has had a flat screen forever tho
and full size speakers are going away after the next model not yet
Yea true but idk how Iâll like the narrow screen of Xperia
Maybe i get used to it but for now wider one seems more natural
I will have to check it out someday in store
It is a nice looking phone tho Iâll say that
and it has the fingerprint reader in the correct location
on top of the power button
as well as a dedicated camera button
Yea as cool as they are, Iâd take a fingerprint reader in the button over an under screen on any day
Sorta guesswork without the aod enabled
Sd card is also neat
and headphone jack
problem is the discounts from it being new will go away on the S24U
and the xperia is gonna be obscenely expensive as per usual with sony
Not too big of a problem for me because samsung doesnât offer any real discounts here to begin with
ah rip
Just 150 off the 512 gb and a little off the 1tb
Personally would not miss the headphone jack much on my phone, just sad the micro-sd is dying out.
I understand that they are generally not the most reliable things, I understand that most people didn't use them.
Doesn't mean I like it going away though.
yea id pay 740 including trading in my old phone
for the 1tb
and also get the buds 2 pro
Yikes
Probably Iâd get more back selling the phone instead
I would like to keep my old phone around tbh, so I can root and use it as a video camera
Fair, I usually just pass it to a family member or keep it as a spare
Thatâs a nice idea tho I might do that
Mcpro24fps is super sweet
Sweet Iâll check it out
My phone has firmware blocked access to the cameras by 3rd party software, so I have to root to get full access

Fortunately rooting is fairly easy compared to jail breaking đ
The community has really slowed down, donât see as many jailbreaks come out now tho
Compared to like ios 9 era
Same for rooting
Aha? I didnât know
It's easier on pixel, xiaomi, and oneplus?
Samsung is a pain to the devs but they (devs) usually make a root available
The only good thing is on android alot of things are available via adb or launcher changes without having to root, more than beforr
Gotcha yeah, I donât know about one plus now but they used to be fairly relaxed about rooting
I remember them uploading a video on their YouTube channel on how to root the phone
Yep
Dunno if that still is a thing
Unsure
Also unrelated but one reason I want the s24 over Sony is because of dex, I heard it pairs really well with the xreal glasses đ
You also have the option of Xiaomi also coming soon
And the find x7 ultra sounds insane
They don't have all the US bands which can be a problem
Oh Iâm not sure entirely but usually chinese brand phones are a bit annoying to get a hold of here
I can order them online but canât test in store usually as they donât have them
I doubt Xperia would be in store?
It is Iâve played a bit with it before
Iâve seen oneplus and some very select xiaomi models but never the flagships
Interesting

oh rats peak design never made a case for xperia
1300$...
Ah sad, I really enjoy my peak design case
same
Itâs held up surprisingly well Iâll admit I didnât think it would when I first got it
same, tho its not quite compatible with my usb c magnetic adapters
Yea clearance is a bit tight
i took a utility knife to it a bit but it wasnt enough and i wasnt comfortable making the front any thinner
Hm yeah those magnetic adapters can be a bit big
Still donât have one so Iâm just using my cable, that works well tho
Maybe you can find a smaller one?
no dice, mine is the smallest style that works
it just barely fit but it bends the case
Oh I see
Just watched this and wow he did seem positive indeed, nice to see
i forgot about the case :/
For the Sony or?
yea đŚ
Yea that sucks
I had spigen cases before but canât see myself switching away from peak now
ive also bought a bunch of the peak accessories
Oh yeah I get that, I was thinking about getting the bike mount first
oh sorry thanks
ive got a universal pole mount i use occasionally, but i daily a magnetic charger at home and in the car
Nice
I donât know if there are any other viable replacements, but itâs a shame for your accessories to not be compatible with anything else
they kinda work with the magsafe stuff, but the peak design magnets are vastly stronger
I was about to ask for magsafe yeah, but hm
Yeah to put it this way I donât trust magsafe as much to hold up my phone against something like a bike
yea and even the magnets alone on peak design id trust, but it also has the physical clips on top of that!
This video has been weeks in the making. We spent over $1000 on mountable cases and accessories and unless youâre riding motorcycles, the best mountable iPhone case is going to be the Mous Evolution w/ IntraLock. We came to this conclusion after testing each product for the protection it will offer your device, the design of the mount, the stren...
Hahah Iâd rather it crack by force than fall off
its super thin so it shouldnt be that strong, but even if it gets wrenched so hard that it breaks, it still stays attached lol
and its far and away the thinnest system except for magsafe
Iâm satisfied with that result lol, gives me more assurance
Hah
What annoyed me about spigen, the kickstand on the back fell apart and never could be put back
no kickstand without an accessory on the peak for android đŚ
i think the iphones have one which is kinda strange
Thatâs odd
what I think is they are samsung only, and samsung puts the nfc coil near the bottom of the back
its always directly on the samsung logo
and thats where peak puts the stand for the iphones
Ah I see that could be it
Tho I read recently some magnet cases can cause s pen interference, have you heard about anything like this?
yea, peak says issue on s21 and 22 (which i never had issues with) and resolved on s23 and 4
Gotcha thatâs nice to hear
probably more important for the new phones that have the s pen built in
the external s pen on the 21u is alot larger
and doesnt need to charge (it doesnt have remote control capability)
Yeah I think thatâs right
Probably a minor issue at this point so I think peak accessories will work
yo how much fps would I7 14700kf with a 4070 on 1440p get in fortnite and valorant? anyone know?
ok, let me introduce you to this wonderful thing called a "search engine"
what you do is you type what you're looking for, or the question you're posing
and it'll spit up results in terms of similarity to query
your operating system comes with one preinstalled, but you've likely got another installed as well
use whichever one tickles your fancy and have at it
is there wa difference between
Wooting 60HE+ - 60% analog keyboard and the full size keyboard
definitely enough to get everything out of your 360hz screen
which I assume you have.
OH FUSK SAKE AYANEO
THE HANDHELD THEY SAID WOULD USE STEAMOS IS GONNA HAVE WINDOWS INSTEAD
WHY???!!!!
no shocker
They spent so much marketing about how it will use SteamOS
.-.
holoiso doesnt have support, and it aint as stable as steamos
I know .-.
why is that making you even so mad, not like you were going to buy it
I know...but I want more handhelds to have SteamOS
thats on valve not ayaneo
Not sure but I run a 14900k and a 4090 and I was getting near 600 fps in some areas more so around 400 to 500 valorent would probably get like 400 fps or something I would assume that game doesnât take much to run it seems
Iâm eventually going to get a 1440p monitor though probably by the end of this year. Iâm still running a 240hz 1080p
i get under 400, plus my pc has been to the repair show twice in under a month i bought it 2. jan 2024
That sucks itâs getting repaired. I recommend looking on YouTube though just search the specs I learned a lot from that
Thatâs usually what I do.
imma see if i can return it because were i live there is a law that if you a issue with a product 3 times or more you can refund it
i did i geuss i just got unlucky
Where are you from?
1440p has a very wide range of graphics settings, but you're going to demolish 1440p fortnite with that setup unless you turn on ray tracing and all the tech demo whistles
@vague needle is it true every opinion you state is correct?
that's pretty self-evident
Woahhhhhh

I hate that word "bullish"
ARL is so uninteresting though
Ahh ARL is on a "2nm" process
I wonder what it competes with from TSMC, 5, 4 or 3nm
Panther Lake is on 18A, good process I suppose but I hope they just scale back on the insane clocks and go for power efficiency
how do you know what batch youre in??
ty
You mean Meteor Lake?
Is there official information out that Arrow Lake will be part TSMC N3 and Intel 20A?
Intels own slides from like a year ago
Ah, alright
Also pretty sure Panther is just another mobile not desktop chip
Per article it says desktop
Think it was kinda like MTL but not sure atm
Ah think it was planned but we might get ARL refresh instead
So not really known what we get yet
ARL leaks this early just really made it confusing for future gens after lol
Oi @severe phoenix you are a fellow reddit goblin right?
How new is this fuckin layout
It just replaced the usual one like few days back
And I really don't like it
How do I go back
Ayyy it's back to somewhat normal, I had to set the layout to classic
Ok this is a piece of shit
If I set it to classic, it's normal until I refresh or reopen the tab and the new one takes place

PowerColor RX 7900 XTX promotion AMD flagship Radeon GPU gets below âŹ900 for the first time. Gamers in Germany may soon find themselves in a dilemma: whether to opt for the soon-to-be-released GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, explore better deals for the non-SUPER version, or go an entirely different path with AMD. The flagship RX 7900 [âŚ]
Not low enough imo
I'd consider if it was 800 flat
7900XT should be 700
Still to much for a gpu
I am looking into 7900GRE
So many CUs, just need a good stable memory and base clock OC and it'd shine far more than 7800XT at same price
Pretty bad power efficiency though

basically dynamic clock control, adjust cpu speed for load
there are several ways to do it, AMD and intel are providing their own code for it
As explained in the article or the linked articles about it
yep its gonna happen
not a question of if but when
enjoy old cars while they legal/viable
Loads of changes there yeah wasn't there something about the taxes too?
This just feels dumb with the infrastructure of some countries, Ecodiesel would be a good thing wouldn't it? maybe i'm stupid as always
volvo is hemmoraging money on their EV transition already, so yep this is just another nail in the coffin for their revenues
The EV transistioning of all the car makers is just stupid, Subaru had som bad charging recently maybe it has been fixed and with the charging structures of countries it is not up to par
Imagine youâre forced to accelerate to merge for example, and the car wonât let you, lol
I see
polestar is practically bankrupt already and same thing will happen to volvo cars if they don't curb this nonsense
Yeah
The Polestar looks nice though (IMO)
Yes but it's just simple enough
That's also a nice 1
Would probably have quite a nice ''go-cart'' feeling
Polestar sold a lot of cars though
It's not a lot of money though? usually people keep their phones at least 3yrs
It's still alot of money, but because you use it for so long it can be justified
1300/3 = 433,333333333
Sure it would be nicer if it would be cheaper but for me at least i've kept phones for 3 years+
Same
And people just keep justify spending $$$$ on iPhones or Apple products
I got a $550 discount on the 24u by turning in my 3 year old previous phone
but how about 270âŹ/3
It all depends on your use case, sure 270/3 = 90 but it's up to you what you want out of the product, and 3 years is a ''long time''
count me in on that. car that can fast charge without overheating đ
I want a station, or equivalent
Those are coming to market now, Renault has one, vw soon, enyaq might be considered to be one. Peugeot has one. MG
People need to start to live a little too, save for what? sure it's good to save but we are here now, I do save though within limits
I'm more aptera hyped
Don't need to speed up charging watts if you just use less energy for the same speed
Aptera is cool, but not when having kids
aptera is quite nice but my concern is it does not have that much storage space compared to bigger cars like ioniq, and a towing bar would be quite nice
Ioniq 6 is pretty large but ioniq 5 doesn't have a ton more space
And the aptera will be able to tow
you sure? thats news to me hm
Still useful as a second car
What is a second car?
100%
Very low tongue weight support
awesome
It's a way to avoid having to get 1 vehicle that meets all requirements of multiple people
Sounds very expensive
Is this at Hawaii?
Full featured cars are extremely expensive
Cheaper to get 2 mid spec cars than 1 fully specced one
Would like to visit Hawaii sometime
Read somewhere that they don't like tourists though, but don't know if it's true and can't put this stamp on everyone
Iâm usually fine with a mid tier specced car, as long as it has a heat pump, heated seats & wheel, and towing possibility i donât need the rest. I think excluding fees 2 low tier cars add up to make one mid to high tier specced
But with all road fees and such I believe (here at least) itâs better to stick with one car if possible
If thatâs the case then yeah I agree
That's super cheap
That is nice
Wish it was the same here
yeah for me it's kinda about the fact that sure, 1500⏠divided into 3 years is 500⏠a year and that divided into months is 40⏠or so a month so not too terrible, but still 1500⏠for a phone is unfathomable to me
it's such a large lump sum for such a fragile device that ultimately just needs to make calls and send texts, and be somewhat enjoyable to use
especially since life is not meaningfully worse off with a 270⏠phone
Yeah but for some it's their ''PC''
yeah I understand that, and a camera
I've learned that I shouldn't ever take my case off my phones
Every time id take my otterbox off for a few days my phone would end up broken
my next phone'll probably be a refurb iphone mini or normal iphone, whatever I settle on when it's time and whatever is sub-500 at that point
My s21u is the first phone I got a case for.. It's just too much money
Rn I'm using a hand me down pixel 6
I got fed up with android not fucking working and me having to fight with it
(and I've had androids since the g1)
I don't... like it, but I can learn to live with it if it "just works"
at this point i dont mind either OS

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was my DREAM PHONE when i was a teenager. It was literally the first officially licensed Playstation Phone that came out on the market, and I wanted it like crazy as a kid. So, now that I have it in my hands, we're going in and load...
i wanted one of these back then SOOOO BADLY
Always kind of looked half-backed to me, still does
PSP go got pretty decent once it was hacked, storage still kind of iffy but otherwise nice and compact.
I got mine for fairly cheap after I broke my ds.
oh, thats why the modern gaming phones dont have slide up screens
Sony still have that patented
and will never use again ,-,
It's not because of the patent, it's because it makes the phone itself bulky for a suboptimal controller
clip around controllers are just a better option in general.
If it were just the patent and they were a good idea sony would have continued making them.
Your phone is more than just a communication tool; itâs a powerful tracking device, and the SIM card inside is a key reason why.
I donât actually have a SIM card in any of my phones, and in this video Iâll explain the reasons why.
Iâll also talk about alternative ways that you can still have connectivity on the go without a SIM in your phone...
Oh at first I thought this was an esim advert lol
its a Calyx Institute hotspot advert!
WHY IS CIRCLE TO SEARCH GOOGLE PIXEL 8 (and Samsung S24 range) EXCLUSIVE?????
đ˘ I WANT
So a shitty feature for shitty phones
Don't contaminate my Sony phones with useless features
Nah, this feature is insanely amazing
It very much is not
Whatever you say
Seems unreliable and just another feature 99% of users will not know it exists but hogs space
isnt it literally just making a circle instead of a second tap to select google search
yeah...its discoverability is bad
I think you can stomach the few kilobytes it takes
I don't get why not just.. hold your finger on the text to select it and just press "Search"
its like using google lens to search google, you see a photo of some nice hotel view and circle that, itll tell you about what hotel it is and where
Instead do this whole finnicky uncomfortable draw thing
so its just google lense removing a step
or you see some thing you like and wanna find out what it is, just circle it
so a tiny QoL change
yeh, but it also searches the web, not just images like Lens does
Idk how you people are built, but I hate most swipe operations on phones, they don't feel good to the finger skin
The less continuous weird motions I have to do, the better
Tap everything
Google lens also searches regular web results
What if your finger makes the initial motion and one of the screen elements it starts on is draggable
Does the thing that you donât want to drag get dragged and the circle motion happens or does the thing you donât want to drag get dragged and no circle motion is registered because youâre now dragging or swiping something
Or does it start ignoring drags and swipes to see if youâre doing a circle motion
Idk that sounds like a can of worms
Asshole behavior as always from Apple
Unity did this - shunned, Apple does this - nobody talks about it
Apple and asshole behavior.. That's nothing new. If they actually do something like unity, They'll kill the app development scene and thus one of the attractive points of ios
they didnât do it the unity way, they made the new terms opt-in
afaik Unity rowed back hard and even lost to Nintendos hoard of lawyers
european union being clueless as usual and not realizing apple spends too much on lawyers
Remind me. Has the EU lost any of these suits yet?
I know. It's a vex take.
All Apple has done is earn them another day in court.
iâve heard clickbait headlines were made specifically for vex
what are they gonna do? get them another slap on the wrist fine?
Well yes?
theyâve just paid 12 times the paris case amount to moscow, theyâll be fine
Uhuh...
Do ppl actually watch 3hours of the ltt wanshow?
I couldn't. The last two thirds is mostly fan sent questions iirc. And of course ADS
And if you do, how shitty is your life
And how devoid of anything else worthwhile is your life
I expect / hope most people that do, just put it on in the background
I watch it from time to time like that in the background at 3.5x speed
I Check the timestamps to see if there is any interesting part and listen to that
But usually itâs just 1 topic that isnât just news rehash
That too, sometimes it's interesting enough, in general though it is not something I regularly watch
I could see myself have it on in the background while working. But I already have other obligations there. Namely about 285 hours left of this playlist, and then another season after that to catch up to (ongoing)
Only interesting parts recently where about stuff like how something works for YouTubers so itâs like a behind the scenes clip, most shoes these days I donât even watch segment because itâs just news rehash I know about and boring questions
Can anyone recommend good IEMs for Valo and CS2?
I would say good for gaming in audio is not as much a thing.
In general I would personally highly recommend the Moondrop Chu II
Cheap and actually pretty good.
I used to put them on to fall asleep to most of the time
absolutely a thing
though I don't know anythign about IEM recommendations
Iâm using the 7Hz salnotes zero, is cheap and good
I know it sort of is, but from what I understand a somewhat neutral frequency response is pretty good. With maybe some boosts on the frequency of footsteps and a reduction in bass.
Em6l if youâre looking around the $100 range
soundstage is pretty important
which is why a lot of people say that hd600/650 aren't that good for gaming
and why the hd800 is so good in comparison
EM6L crushes anything else in that price range as far as footsteps and directional queues go for valorant
If you wait for chinese new year to start there's definitely going to be some minor sales from linsoul and such as well. Usually good to save $10-20 on the popular entry level iems
We are talking about iem's though not known for the best sound stage in general.
There is
You really want spatial audio, so soundstage is incredibly important
Also if you are a geek, something like Atmos would also help
I've heard some Atmos demos and holy shit it's so damn good and accurate
Not the whole simulated 7.1 gimmick trash but some proper tech like Atmos
And IEMs, imo, are not "gaming" peripherals, you want headphones
Like, I suppose the Audeze Maxwell
yeah good luck getting that demo sound in games kekw
That being said I am still doubtfull about actual competitive effects, considering the headphones pro's often being pretty bad for these things on paper.
there's very big differences between IEMs and headphones that are good/bad for sound
some of my headphones and iems are very muddy in valorant, meaning I can barely tell if something is coming from the front or left/right at times, whereas others I can pinpoint them 2 rooms away
like my old pair of sennheiser 598s, absolutely trash for valorant and very confusing in game for a lot of things
Pinnacle of positional audio already existed in cs 1.6. The fact they cant do it these days is mind boggling
no point getting better headphones when the audio systems in games are so bad
CS has great HRTF sound tbf
Must have been some Turtle Rock magic
In 1.6 you could close eyes and win 1v5
Maybe 1.6 just did not do any real simulation where in the real world sound propogates through rooms and can actively misdirect you
for example at home we can hear a train sometimes from the opposite direction.
if you don't bother to simulate the environment positional accuracy would be higher.
That being said I have not looked at how cs does it.
Imagine going through that effort and being worse than 20 year old game haha. Maybe such complex systems arent needed because theyre still not perfect?
Yeah I know sometimes you can hear random sound from different direction
cs 1.6 is kind of a unicorn though, even it's movement was amazing
But idk if thats really a good thing to have in gmaes
none of the cs games since then have been able to get the movement quite as crisp as 1.6
Yeah lol
In general better simulations should create something that sounds more realistic, maybe some reverb, but if your goal is to trace people the best you could do is relatively simple.
Still general IEM wise, I may not have tried everything but for me the Moondrop Chu 2 is a pretty great option.
Cheap, sounds pretty decent at least, small enough not to be too problematic in my ears (a bit larger nozzle is a bit of a con here) but less than I expected.
At the very least if you want to try if using an IEM for these things is the way to go, there is no real risk with their price.
Only got mine to try if larger nozzles were problematic for me, saw no real reason to use anything else after.
moondrop tend to be a bit muddy for fps games honestly
good for music and such, but footsteps can be muddy in game unless you want to eq
Eq in general seems to be the right option if you want to optimize for a certain frequency range.,
I will say that I have not used them with gaming much, so there is that.
Given the choice at home I will take over ears anytime
I also have not experienced any of the muddy foodsteps as a problem, outside of using generally muddy sounding headphones.
So hard to judge on that. through the years to me my senheisser hd555's hd6xx and hifiman he400se all sounded fine in that regard.
as well as my moondrop aria and moondrop chu 2
it's more once you use a pair of headphones or iems that have really good fps game soundstage/footsteps that the old ones become muddy in comparison
before you try it you'd likely not realize how clear the footsteps and such can sound
it's like loading up to a deathmatch and suddenly you can pinpoint people behind multiple walls to the exact location vs. knowing someone is roughly left somewhere
meanwhile I never cared for game audio, only a sound signature I like for music
I have always been pretty good at pinpointing in general, I am also sure it does not matter much as on paper the gaming headsets pro's use are especially bad at that on paper. If I played competitive and it really mattered, I would care, but to me most things seems to point to it doesn't.
At that point you enter into the realm of the subjective and placebo effect pretty quickly. Even if it does actually sound clearer it may simply not translate to any meaningful difference.
For me personally music and how clear the human voice sound are important.
The later as it allowed me to bump up the playback speed of video's further.
But first and foremost comfort is priority number one. if comfort fails everything else doesn't really matter.
pros use iems under their headsets these days
at least for competition games. In home setup they just use whatever because it matters less
ah, didn't know that, but makes sense if only to block out the environment.
I do that on flights not having any anc closed back headphones with iems underneath, works really well.
Who's even a reputable leaker nowadays
I've heard of HighYield but they sure aren't Kopite levels of reputable
I wonder though if Zen 5's Ryzen what, 8600? Would be the performance level of 7800X3D since 5600X3D is sort of on par with 7600X
what are these pointless articles
none of that is a leak
litearlly just someones twitter post putting what he knows/thinks to know so far to have it in one spot
I mean, did we know that it'd have same IO die?
yes
No new 10 core or such variant?
no
bit lower as new node yes
the only thing questionable is if its get ddr5 6400 validation
the rest is many months old
Also the article and tweet say completely different things lol
Tweet: same chiplet design as Zen 2/3/4
Article: rumored to use a hybrid architecture with a mixture of standard and dense "C" cores.
I mean, I have salivated enough on C cores to now know they are apparently servers and mobile only
no that is not different
same chiplet design just means that, you have the io chiplet and the CCD
C cores wasn't a thing back in Zen 3, it's a Zen 4 thing right?
yes
Still as we discussed, there's no point in introducing them in the desktop market
Maybe in some NUC but they just mobile chips there anyways
they will probably end up on desktop in form of some apus that just end up there like they are in the Z1 and co
But is there any need in introducing dense cores on like an X3D CPU?
#đâtech message as for io die info
Yeah but that's Zen 6 which is like what, 2 years away
yeah and as I said afterwards zen5 has the same io die still, look at the date of when that was
so really not new
So where exactly are we expecting double digit IPC improvements from
the cores
AMD sure loves new core designs
As does anyone that matters in the space
