MBps, mBps, Mbps, mbps
so both are capitalized
Yep. So what happens is if you perform some normal operations for design work to them, or you use a font that doesn't differentiate between the two, the meaning is lost.
we live in an age were we can either edit or quickly otherwise correct such mistakes
maybe im just too used to regularly correcting and differentiating between lower and upercase due to having spoken German for most of my life.
idk but to me this seems like whining on a high level
Speak for yourself, until there is some form of technical literacy education in the biggest English speaking country, English will remain this way and you just have to cope
english or american english
because when i hear just english i will assume british english
Pretty sure the brits use bytes as well
so do many languages that arent english id assume
unless they uses octets like france does
as i already wrote to me i would assume iw as speaking for myself and my own opinion on this topic
its just amusing that in the age of everyone carrying a computer in their pocket we cling to conventions from pre 2000 that are easily fixed
this isnt IPv4 vs IPv6 where we overturn an entire system
Yep but you are misrepresenting what you think when you don't clarify terms that you have non standard opinions on
I hate that a Youtube channel as large as LinusTechTips doesnt caption their videos .-.
They dont?
?
I've never noticed an issue
Linus has a clear accent so they work well on him
? these are both LTT
wat
this one is CES coverage so not even pre planned
Yea they do it manually later
welp i guess MBps was standardized in 1999 by IEC 60027-2
sad i can only find newer editions
60027-2-1999 has been withdrawn and replaced with 60027-2-2019 lol
yes and from what i can tell they just ammend the list of units by expanding them
i really want to see the original filing though
That's not withdrawn tho of it was an ammendment
all sources i could find just mention the changes between the years to be expansion of units
as in literally those words
and i cant even verify what actually changed since i cant find the original documents currently
might be some fun detective work on the weekend
although I also saw it includes a ton more units than just telecommunications
also need to find the IEEE filing for the Mbps definition
Another thing worth mentioning, though, is that standard for communication and technical standards sometimes are also different.
I am pretty sure that in this case they are specifically different.
ill add that to the detective work i guess
Although I would be surprised if anything besides MB/s and mbps were valid for use
as mentioned when i still worked my old job and had more active talks with ISPs and network equipment manufacturers they did definitely treat them different when they said Gbps and GBps
so now i just wanna know whats actually right
That is different lol
well same for when i still dealt with Mbps and MBps
especially since Germany for a long time liked to advertise 16Mbps as 16000 Kbps
cause big number better
Fun
reminds me of the AMD64 x86_64 thing where im still not 100% sure what the correct term for the 64bit instructionset is
Well, to be fair, I don't think anybody does.
And considering that a lot of folks cough Intel tend to be removing certain features from their newer stuff, you basically just need to list out the full feature flags.
well i finished writing it into my notebook so i wont forget and i hope i can figure out whats actually allowed rn
I feel like it always needs to be said what a sham internet in this country is
well they did do this whole they need to bring the speed to X% most of the time
where you use the fun state made tool to test this
I doubt I'd qualify, I use 4G internet since DSL home connection would be unrepentantly shit here, and I don't have several thousands to dig a cable connection
the real scam is that cities have no right to refuse ISPs to dig up the streets/sidewalks time and time again in the same month when they could plan to pull all their shit in 1 go for like 10 companies
on the bright side the 4G is rather good
Coming back to those AirJet coolers, they are interesting tech but like with most alternate means to move air efficiency is the problem. This makes it a tough sell for battery powered device.
Anyway time for bed, feels too much out of context right now and not much of a conversation to be had, nor should I at this time.
It's particularly sad when cellular is faster than wired
how do they even work if they are solid state
Solid state doesn't mean no moving parts. It just means that the component is 1 solid object that may flex or bend
I think something like vibrations combined with a membrane only allowing air one way.
Exactly how they work isn't public yet, but they are almost certainly piezoelectric.
They definitely do have benefits, I just don't think they are well suited for laptops.
Laptops I think they do work for, but it has to be high power and extremely thin
Tablet style for example
it's not far behind a wired connection, even for lag actually. it's also a 5G subscription, but I won't pay 500bux for a 5G router lol. especially when phones have had it for years now. I kind of played with the idea of taping an android phone to the attic window to get 5G internet, but I doubt it'd be that good (plus, android sux about keeping hotspots running)
They would be perfect for surface pro
As long as the heat to dissapate is low enough and the device needs to be thin enough, sure
My grandmother's apartment has wired adsl at 12/5ish mbps my phone easily passes 200/70
And here at my home my upload from my phone is faster than my cable although download is slower
My parent's apartment in france still has pretty slow dsl, here 4g is definitely faster until they finally lay some fiber.
Also the new apartment isn't even equipped for dsl anymore so no choice really.
you could do it but at a cost that is simply not worth it.
I kind of do wonder how feasible ghettophone 5G gateway would be. I don't trust android not to make it unnecessarily difficult
hmmm'st.....
nah
just buy a cheapo router that supports usb tethering
and use the phone purely as a modem
oh my god, my router supports that
I might actually give this a go
Actually pretty easy to do, did it when I got a temp 4g connection at home, when our fiber cable got unplugged at the neighborhood switch and it took a day for my provider to send someone / get the company managing that thing to allow him in.
yeah 4g is ubiquitous. I'm wondering whether I can get more bandwidth / lower latency using a 5g phone over a 4g router
the subscription is for 5g, but the routers are stupendously expensive
You could also look into usb-adapters that take simcards for your existing router, though I don't know how effective they are.
whether less or more effective than a phone... I have a few days off from work, I might try it
Phone should work, but I am unsure how it handles being used that way long term, you may need a weekly or monthly reboot or something like that.
yup. it's probably a horrible idea. which makes it all the more interesting to try
the other issue is that many cell plans have nonsense done to detect if traffic is tethered, and you have to deploy countermeasures
Sparkle launches first Arc GPUs in 2024 It seems like Sparkle opted for a low-key approach with this launch, keeping things on the down-low without much buzz. The latest updates on their website now reveal the presence of two Arc A3 models, both sporting a compact form factor design. Sparkle’s launch features two cards, the […]
Depends on the country though, I think at least the Dutch ruling about net neutrality says they are not allowed to differenciate.
I doubt it
Celular providers just have a xGB a day limit after which you need to increase it.
well yea
but like i pay for unlimited for my phone but its limited to 5gb of tethering
Tele2 will adjust its conditions about sharing a smartphone’s internet connection with other devices such as laptops and tablets.
My usage on wifi is at the bottom of the screen too
oh wow thats probably why there arent any "unlimited" plans in the eu
well many
There are unlimited plans here, they just require you to up your limit after using 5-10gb in a single day, you can do so as much as you want.
ah
that's nothing to worry about, the connection unlimited + meant for home use. I can torrent as much as I want
so it slows you down but you press a button and it speeds back up?
or it stops and you have to restart it?
but tele2 doesnt exist anymore
Also price wise there are home 4/5g plans in a few countries which are also unlimited, and not that expensive.
The net can take it when there are other options
nothing stops you from getting a "home" subscription that's truly unlimited, even in traffic type. Vodafone (german ISP) has one of these
yea but the ruling still stands and other providers follow it, so it's still relevant.
doesn't even limit your location
germanys phone plans are horrible though
reminds me still need to find the cheapest one to move my number to
check freenet, they hawk plans for less than you'd pay normally
like i literally plan to get one of those no free minutes, no free sms, no flatrates no internet sims
just to keep the number available nothing else
Want me to tell you about canadian phone plans?
please do
yea here home 5g is $50 for unlimited 😦
and the modem they come with is only barely better than a phone
They're awful
the phones are filled with bacon and maple syrup
yum
i expected some sort of rant or something
I pay 35bux for 100mbps unlimited 4g... but it's usually around 40-60. not bad all things considered. o2 (the provider) can do some things right, sometimes
Sorry i got busy
cheaper than my current german plan
But tldr
Awful pricing especially for data
1-2 bars or no signal most of the time
If you live in "isolated" areas get fucked
i mean it is a large country
freenet is pretty good. I still use a french SIM card from when I used to live there. no internet, but I get telekom net as a "foreigner" for 10bux a month lel
And a triopoly from 3 large providers with no competition
we also have a triopoly here in the us and we have waaaaaaaay more population
The nordic Tele2?
This site has a pretty nice map of cost around the world
i imagine that overlaying a population density map with a coverage map would line up pretty well lol
I still have the right to not enjoy being fucked in the ass by cell providers
youve clearly stated you dont yet lol
I've heard a canadian describe the country as a very loose 51st state, so that map isn't so shocking to me
You could apply that to all of canada besides quebec
The rest of canada is basically us lite
Nah
Games usually don't work due to anticheat
I was gonna say steam deck users be like
Since they're babies
But i didn't type it fast enough @wheat plume
Proton's pretty good nowadays
If you want linux on a desktop
Proton is still way easier on Deck oddly enough
I guess it has to be for the Deck to actually play most shit
It kinda looks like this if you want to play with mods though
Same on Windows xd
But you can use a mod manager on Windows at least
Linux requires manual mod install
I mean some mod managers have their Linux versions, r2modman for example
Usually if you mod the game on Windows then transfer it to the deck , then it works
that sounds like pain too
Most of mod managers also work if you try to run them in game's prefix, Diva Mod Manager and SnakeBite work just fine
that really depends how much they block it hardware side with extra "security" chips
talking about future hardware
I thought there was issues with internal storage?
maybe, didnt follow asahi for a while
but the more it gets locked down in the future the more that takes people away from getting it to work
for my desktop I think when I do my next upgrade after this yearz zen5 upgrade linux might work good enough for me to try it
so like 2026/27
on apple, probably not before
Asahi going strong, lately they started helping with Wi-Fi drivers for Raspberry Pi 4/5
damn rpi switched to apple silicon?
ah it seems like they have mostly fixed the boot issues, no more needing to manually boot to usb
They are porting Broadcom drivers from Android to rpi, because WPA3 support is still spotty there
I'm really not interested in apple hardware besides the vision pro tho :/
i do really hope the deckard comes, that will be a linux device that isnt android that i can daily
Switching to new phone... Now I can see why setting up 128 random letters password to Google acc was not the greatest idea of mine -.-
diceware for the win
I usually use bitwarden, so it's not an issue
But I can't download it without getting into Google Play...
yea but if its completely random letters, you didnt use diceware
my password manager uses diceware to generate passwords
Yea, I use bitwarden's inbuilt one to generate
Create strong passphrases with EFF's new random number generators! This page includes information about passwords, different wordlists, and EFF's suggested method for passphrase generation. Use the directions below with any set of dice. And now, a message from internationally renowned security...
I suppose these projects cost a lot of cash, plus the executive suite wants to double the size of their super yachts...
yeah the government can handle pesky investment and risks
only profit is for corporate
Ah ffs razer can’t make a working firmware updater tool
Nor a macOS version of synapse but that’s a smaller issue
Attempt no 1000 to try to get the firmware updater to not stop at 0%
razer + software = lol
It’s so annoying because I can’t get what I payed for working without updating
The 8khz dongle that is
Was curious to try it
But the mouse won’t update so won’t get detected
Oh there’s no way this would be a fix
Lmao
Let’s see as it worked for multiple people
Apparently unplugging the mouse during the 0% stage and replugging when prompted may fix it
that doesn't sound good rofl
This issue occurred two months ago already what the hell are their devs doing
making the finest rgb effects
wtf it works now after replugging mid update
It didn’t work right after replugging
Least incompetent peripheral maker software
It’s crazy how much better wooting is ngl considering the company size, especially back in the days
I would have thought razer has more money to dev
least incompetent? from what you described they sound quite incompetent
Yes but by least I mean this is a standard
Logitech fw was also an experience
It’s a meme way to say they’re very incompetent but most other companies are too
I'd argue razer is among the most incompetent
Probably tbf I only tried razer and Logitech for mice and both are in a race to be the most incompetent
it's really only the gaming division of logitech that's incompetent
May be that way tbh I only tried their g hub and it woudlnt launch half the time
At least I could update the firmware And it was for Mac
may be that way? I'm telling you straight up as someone who dailies a mx master and owns a g703
I have used both sides of the same coin
Welp 8khz works on macOS nice
Tbf only difference I’ll probably be able to tell is the battery life decrease
Yep
i believe this is not the first time something like this has happened
I know Irish tech stores don't really have a good spec list for their products
But this...
Wtf is this shit??!!??
Clearly the most comprehensive spec list ever
/S
You mean hiyoriposting?
Yep
Cause I need to be somewhere soon and it takes ages to get there cause of traffic in morning
Yeah I ain't calling it that. 😛
How does that have anything to do with anything
That sentence is literally lanaposting
Mansen commented how early I am sending this
Therefore i explained why
But why lanapost instead of normalpost
no he commented on the lanapost being early in the day, not that you're up early in the day
english, friend
Of course
Those costs will rack up insanely
I really hope Microsoft gets slapped with anti competetive again with the stuff they’re doing with edge
What are they doing I’ve been living under a rock
Pop ups in other browsers to try to get you to use edge, edge reminding you why it’s great, pop ups not opening in default browser and telling you to use gpt powered edge, and in fact apparently in some cases some links can’t be set to not auto open in edge
The windows search only opens results in edge too
And the office suite and outlook only open links in Edge
New mouse vs old mouse
Easy to disable.
My search is 100% offline.
Which is nicer
If you click a web result... it only used edge to open them
oh no it uses a quite competent browser thats also just chromium based like any other browser
So far the new seems to be way more well rounded.
On the old one the side buttons and wheel button sucked, here all buttons are nice. And it’s 66% of the weight
No RGB oh well
Also 8khz ig
For like tracking or aiming ?
Idk I haven’t tried gaming with it yet just was trying out the general stuff
Ahh let me know when you find out
If I leave my wireless mouse on while my pc is off will it drain battery
Maybe depends on the mouse
Lamzu?
I wouldn’t know but most mice battery won’t go down
Good
Cause I keep letting it stay on
I just forget
Which one is newest
Also hoes that computer without a GPU treating ya
Left
All I used it for is to update mouse fw lol
Mac gamer I do be
Bet you're kinda glad you didn't get a GPU now
Very much so
True patient gamer
Why tech corporations are the way they are?
I had to resort to 3rd party backup app to move my SMS from old phone, because Google's backup solution is too stupid to restore them on already pre-configured phone
I do
Genuinely don't know a single soul who does in this country. It's been relegated to 2FA and scams 😄
I mostly use them to contact with my family, after the experiment with trying to move them to Signal failed horribly
Everyone moved to Facebook Messenger back in the day, and are still using that for chat.
Messenger is pretty damn cool
Free messaging is cool
If I didn't need a phone number for 2FA and other security stuff, I'd prolly get rid of it
There's like, Telegrams and Vibers and whatever else that exists nowadays to replace conventional messaging and calling
Counterpoint - I don't have Facebook
All I use is either Discord or Signal
Can you explain why would anyone want to use Signal
Because most of my friends and coworkers do?
Lucky
Huh, fair
It doesn't do anything else other than messaging right?
Not a social media app?
Nope, messaging, calls, video calls, that's it
Huh, I didn't know you can do calls with Signal
Is there any kind of encryption on calls?
Yeah, that's the selling point of it
E2E
its one of the better ones for encryptions, uk tried to force it open and they said they just leave the uk if they want that
Got to love how Steam Deck OLEDs sold out in an hour in Japan on the latest restock
and without knowing stock numbers that means absolutely nothing
Stock of 10
And 20 in Akihabara
And Microsoft Authenticator doesn't allow for moving tokens to another phone via QR code, great
Google authenticator only does so since fairly recent
Yeah, which use for pretty much everything, I have to use MS one for work account
Any idea how to save a profile to onboard memory on razer mice?
Oh seems like it’s saved by default until connected again to a device with razer synapse
any steam deck nerds know how to get this UI????
Did you consider if it is just a render?
an animated one!
the home screen was the same though
but it had a nice animation where the capsule art transformed into the hero art when hoing into the selected game screen
super clean
there are dozens of us!
I only use SMS or Signal haha
but I have like, 2 people on signal and the rest I have to SMS with
it's really not that different from any given instant-messaging app with... what's it called, RCS?
you get reactions and replies and all that
I hope the Steam Deck 2 also starts at 400 dollars
we wont get a steam deck 2 before 2026 any price speculation makes no sense
How do you even send maymay!
with RCS the image part is not a problemo 👌
RCS isn't SMS though.
yeah I know
With... drum roll MMS!
it's close enough
You see - If someone sends me an MMS, I get a link in an SMS from my phone plan provider.
lul
Yeah, me too
And this is why we skipped straight to messenger here.
MMS never caught on, and was silly expensive back when it was relevant.
Like 50€C for one.
I'd have no problem using an instant messaging app if they all weren't prying into my data so much lol
As opposed to checks notes your phone provider?
unironically yes
my phone service provider is like a nobody
vs letting the literal biggest corporation on the planet do it
to me it's an order of magnitude less worrying
whose entire business model is based on spying on people, mind you
chromeOS is still going?
Yes and it's dope these days

I dunno if an OS that lets me do only a tiny percentage of the things I can do on the other OSs is "dope"
yeh... xd
I think I've ever used it once, and it did what it needed that time so, I guess I don't have experience to call it out at any rate
It even has Steam nowadays
https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/14220699?hl=en
but from what I gather it's fairly limited
Nearby Share Self-Share is a huge new feature for ChromeOS 120
hides it behind a Chrome flag you need to manually find and enable in order to get Self-share to work
what tf, makes no sense
one of the largest features in the update is disabled and hidden behind a chrome flag?!
now its even more cluttered since he started playing audio
it look good tthough
And the storage is used for.. what
Apps, movies all that I guess
It doesn't cost 400$ to go from 256GB to 1TB, Apple..
Apple LOVES markups
It's just sad
I wonder how much the zeiss prescription lenses cost
Probably more than the storage 😂
150
Ah I see
256 in demand for it to already be pushed to March if you order now
surprisingly sane
Considering scrapping my last metal drive.
Got my "meh" 4TB NVME I use for OS. So I could buy a fancy new 4.0, 2TB for my OS, and swap the 4TB with the metal platter.
I made the mistake and wanted to put a project I only needed to open to compare things to on my HDD
im also scrapping this after I'm dome
it is soooooo slow
I can start feeling the metal slowdown, while doing some cuda reencoding stuff 😄
meanwhile i keep my decades old 256gb hard drive for the cute sounds it makes
id rather go the EV route and have that sound play on speaker if you like it
sounds better than my first own PCs IDE drives
it's not that old, probably around 2006
thats earlier than when i got my pc
tbf it was second hand so idk how old the hdd was and sadly have thrown it away long long ago
fine
hey, respect your elders

what a shame
memory upgrade only 1699 for 8 gig probably
there is no ram upgrade option
Today we have the brand new Tesla Cybertruck, and we'll be doing the hardest thing an EV Truck can do - Tow 11,000lbs in below freezing weather. How much can the Cybertruck tow? How far can the Cybertruck tow? Well today we find out the answer to both of those questions.
This is a Dual Motor All Wheel Drive CyberTruck. The Vehicle was charged ...
probably yup
America really looks so damn barren and flat
well yes you dont upgrade ram on any vr headset
thats like saying europe looks barren and flat because youve only seen pictures of the netherlands lol
xd
lol
yeah you gotta compare it with europe where you wouldnt say all of europe looks like the swiss hills either or like italian wineyards
they have quite a lot of land
and if you want to see flat, youve gotta look up pictures of florida
provo???!!!!!
Come out Ye Black & Tans intensifies
the superchargers are either named after the city they are in (if theres only 1) or the street its on if there are many

Elon must be a fan of Cyberpunk xd copied the font for the Cybertruck
THEY ADDED THE FUCKING WINDOW SHATTER AS AN EASTER EGG IN THE UI LOL
spam tap the window and it shatters
I want an EV simply because of how quite they are.... I love it, so calm
been saying it, give me a strix halo handheld and that can run games better than switch 2 on release lmao but idk if we will see it in a handheld that uses so much power
The Switch 2 is gonna be weaker than the SD1
People need to accept this
😛
its the lightest EV truck
its lighter than the Ford Lightning and the Rivian
yeah but emulation doesnt mean you can run it on SD with the same performance, STX-H could do it better
Even when the Switch released, it cost under 100$ for Nintendo to make it. With the SD's hardware, Valves profit margin is thin. Nintendo will not accept a thin margin.
If Switch 2 has backwards compatibility, I'd be shocked
SD hardware specs might be better but emulation overhead for brute forcing these things will still take a hit
if the steam deck was doing the volume of the switch, it would have similar margins
hence just give some something that eats it for breakfast and wont care about the emulation penalty xD
@astral haven Lol what do they make?
supermicro?
Yee
oh you legit dont know
they make servers, chassis, motherboards, systems
lol
i would bet that stock jump was a big order from someone?
Wow oke, havent heard of them outside of seeing them in yahoo and my friend keeps recommending it hehe
We'll see if they even do emulation
Dell?
I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be upset with the Switch 2
I want a damn tesla
Really?
or get a test drive of one sometime at least
well, an EV in general
but the control panel of the Tesla is the nicest IMO
Get a job with a leasecar :p
yeah hah
they are not as popular any more but they are still up there yea
Do you got Kempower made charging stations in there?
does kempower make chargers?
i thought they were just a rebrander
yea but do they manufacture equipment or just the boxes that the equipment goes in
Im not sure 😅
I don't want a tesla.
agreed
but we all want to have a vehicle that has the ability to use tesla charging stations
and here in the us at the moment the only option is tesla
cant ford use tesla cargers too?
not yet
aah
Since they are ccs now.. Yes they can
not in the us
at the moment there are 5 ccs tesla stations in the us, and they all are in the northeast, near new york
In the US it is the other way around. Car makers are adopting the tesla connector
yall europeans who have a government who pays attention have waaaaay more options than the us
nope
Yes they are
they have promised that they will eventually adopt it
but currently the only car company besides tesla who has a tesla port on an actual vehicle is aptera, and they also are prototypes only
you cant even purchase an adapter to use a ccs car at a normal tesla station yet (also promised but doesnt exist)
you can buy an adapter to use a tesla slow charger, but not a fast charger
j3400 only got ratified a few weeks ago, (the official standard for the tesla plug)
and tesla doesnt support it yet
any word on when 8khz polling is making it's way to wooting? what's the technical limitation does it just need a faster PCB and processor?
it's more or less a waste on a keyboard compared to a mouse
Pulling rate in keyboards? How would that work? Does it have sensitivity? Because I guess it would just be measured in mm and or micrometers 🤔
polling rate in mice is independent from sensitivty, and the actual position sensing its just how often the computer is informed of the position
same for keyboards
Aha, so that would be how fast the keyboard responds?
polling rate is how often the keyboard reports data to the pc
i thought the exact same thing when i was watching the video
so 1kz means ever 1ms
Yes, would that mean a faster responsetime?
assuming you're willing to spend a hell of a lot more on the keyboard, because it will cost a hell of a lot more, and have a PC that can keep up, maybe
That would also mean you can be more accurate in key height right? So you could add in 0.01 milimeters?
no
that's completely different
😔
So it wouldn't be more precise or be faster response time, why would you have 8k pulling rate then?
it would have faster response time
that is exactly what higher polling would do
precision is tied to something outside of the polling rate, being sensor sensitivity
currently it's set to be 255 steps along the switch travel iirc
I asked that like 3 times lmao no one answered
um...
is this not that answer?
Makes sence
You gave an answer not the other people
and seriously, you'd need a massively beefy CPU to avoid dropping frames with that much info being sent
so, at least right now
massive waste
a lot of "high polling rate" devices also only do the signal polling at that speed
they're actually just repeating the same signal a few times in a row because the rest of the hardware isn't up to snuff
But the pulling rate wouldn't send enough updates for the micromilimeters to be registered right? So another reason as to why they haven't done it aswell as what you said?
no, that's entirely an issue of the HE SENSORS
yes, you are writing nonsense, having absorbed none of what I had previously written
Oonly the sensor?
and underlying firmware as well, pretty sure it's also due to the way OSes are coded to handle controller inputs, which the wooting emulates
No I understand I just don't understand how if it is micrometers if you click down it would have to send all the 4000 micrometers fast enough for it to be registered, but I was wrong
...ok
polling is entirely separate from the analog
I said I understood
and as such, a higher polling rate cannot affect the "precision"
Is there any software differences from 60he to 80he? 😮
no
Haven't been keeping up with 80he so
Ah
this is funny
From local marketplace listings
That thing is just useless
The real kicker?
that's...literal E-waste
it isn't even worth 5€
They are trying to sell it for what, 50% of the cost?
I think those G5s are like 300€ or so maybe a bit more
haha
How are they thinking of selling ewaste for half original new price is just funny
why is that? I swear I can tell that my mouse inputs register faster than my keyboard. I guess overtime u stop noticing it, but getting used to it initially was a bit annoying. also why does the cpu need to be way more beefy (most frames dropped is just because of poorly optimized PC where every hardware interrupt is sent to core 0 adding to system latency)? even with keyboard inputs a person might be pressing at most 10 keys at once.
if my 10th Gen Intel can handle 8khz for my mouse, I'm sure it can handle it for my keyboard as well
for the mouse you have continuous movement so you can notice a much bigger impact there
https://www.razer.com/gaming-keyboards/razer-huntsman-v2
also doesn't this keyboard have analog switches with 8khz polling rate?
and yes older cpus can handle it fine but once you get more cpu limited in your game which is most cases where you would want faster input then you run into issues
noticing =// benefitting, stop arguing pull rate
polling rate of the switches is different from the usb polling rate
I'm not arguing dawg, I'm just curious why it is overlooked. just tryna understand if the feature will ever make it's way over to wooting and what the current technical limitations are that are preventing the keyboard designers from switching over rn
Hardware is preventing that.
8k > 1k, bigger number bettert
the most important thing in keyboards is actuation, not input lag, assuming the input lag is low enough to not get in the way and since keyboards dont work like mice you gain isanely diminishing returns going to 8khz
ah I see
why would you
so while it probably will happen at some point in the future when it just works and wont add extra cost or work, it's not much of a benefit putting extra resource in for that now
the returns of 8khz from 1 khz are insanely beneficial per actuation, but cumulatively small in absolute values
No point looking from cumulative pov
i do understand that analog switches kinda already eliminates most of the lag. that's why wooting feels way more responsive than other mechanical switch keyboards. so this makes sense
yea I'm sure there must be SOME benefit. otherwise Razer huntsman would've flopped and/or not existed
I mean the biggest benefit is that you can market it and say number bigger
(or lower)
sugar pills are shockingly effective at doing whatever the doctor says they do
yea well, understanding the placebo effect isn't the same as being able to control it to your benefit
bigger number better is easy to push as a placebo benefit

as stupid as that thing looks, the big ass sunroof is kinda cool
It's all fun and games till it hails once.
or someone keys your car in the parking lot
It's a bad term.
do i even want to know what the term sludge means? I think i slightly didn't read literally anything other than the title
its refering to the videos that have subway surfers or GTA Online racing playing in the bottom half of the video
while the main video is at the top half
^
yeah and also why its so limited stock xD
am looking forward to next gen stuff though when this is the current one
Why is that bizarre design growing on me
Like I still prefer conventional cars
But the cybertrunk doesn't look horrible
It just needs the front grills replaced cause that flat area looks off
yes it does you are schizophrenic
dont let the voices win
What
I used to but these days I’ve stopped listening to anything when exercising, lets my mind really relax when idling if it makes sense
my wooting60he settings are gone after I plugged it into another pc, is there a way to restore them on my keyboard again? since they suppose to be saved on the keyboard not the pc..
Same sorta, I wouldn’t flat out say no to buying one now lol
Yeah I saw, also upped the price and under delivered on range estimates, at least without the battery pack extender
Not for sale here sadly I’d love to test drive one
i tried to visit the vision pro site to see if they were doing bookings for demos, and not only do you need a faceid iphone, it also cant be a company device -_-
lmao

AMD lowers the price for Radeon RX 7900 GRE, slowly hitting retail Following the official price change for Radeon 7900 XT, AMD is also promoting its GRE model with lower price. Earlier this week, AMD implemented a price reduction for the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, which is officially intended for system integrators. This SKU has […]
Considering if I could get one for that price exactly, it would be cheaper and a teeny weeny bit better than any 7800XT I could get
It's really underwhelming how much faster the GRE should be, but it's not
80CUs is a lot more than 800XT and more akin to 900XT, but the memory speed is slow
I wish there was a jailbreak to just raise that mem speed to 20gbps instead of 18, as well as increasing boost clock to 2.4Ghz
And there are comments that are saying that setting memory chips on the GRE back to 20gbps is very much possible and not even an overclock, they are downclocked way below spec and would bring massive improvements in FPS
its also using a different package and different pcb layout for the memory so there is a good chance you can physically not make certain changes
Some peeps are saying that the OEM models are restricted
But the new AIB ones are not
https://www.twitch.tv/r0dn3y if you wanna see twitch 1440p av1
Advertising
its an obs dev
I don't see at all what's different between this and whatever other encoder is used
the physical die package is different so thats not a matter of aib or oem
did u go to 1440p
Yis
and does your browser support av1
oh yeah this is pretty nice visual upgrade compared to what you expect from a warframe stream lol
ye it looks great
Ah yeah it's in AV01
12k and 120fps very nice
I mean it looks nice but I don't see any difference from other streams?
Wait HEVC is a newer codec than H264?
What about H265?
uh weird
hevc is h265...
Ah, cool
I thought HEVC is old cause nobody ever talks about it lel
If it's 265 then nice
H264/AVC -> H265/HEVC -> H266/VVC vs AV1
I have never heard of H266
Because AV1 is heavily winning this war
For good reasons I presume
Ah yeah aren't H encoders all licensed?
And AV1 is free?
Yup, this too
There are free implementations of x264 and x265, but all of that licensing stuff around it is murky at best...
AV1 is free, straight up
h266 is barely out of the gestation phase
People actually care about streaming and recording gameplay? 😛
oh rip stream is over and vod not there
was hoping the vod would also already work
I have no friends so I never saw a point 🙂
Who would i share it with anyways
recording for yourself? watching streams of someone else?
im more interested in seeing better quality streams from other people
so i dont have to go to yt for 4k
i wonder how long its gonna take till all of this is also integrated in the apps on all devices
well it should be added everywhere with the start of it
since that is the easier part when you already outsource transcoding
Yep
This is the ATK, ????????
I don’t see an HE sensor on it.
and I don’t understand how
Is it in the PCB or something?
Those orange/yellow components are resistors I think
but HE sensor is nowhere to be found.
Or I’m blind maybe.
whats the difference between Switch Films and Switch Pads
Is anyone using windows 11? If so how much ram usage does it eat?
2-16gb depending on the computer
Switch pad is sits on the PCB, between the switch and PCB.
Switch Films sit between a switch’s bottom and top housing.
@neat cove they are that orange-ish dot on the top
With something akin to scotch tape over them
I don’t think so as the 60HE has those as well and the HE sensor.
They’re also offset and the one at Esc is rotated.
Here’s 60HE PCBA
Depends on settings
not sure if this is the right place to ask but does anyone know the best way to sell used pc parts? do people even buy used parts? appreciate any help
these
wait does that board have rgb
(let's hope I don't get another standby call again)
So far it seems great, better in all aspects but I am not sure if sweaty hands won’t cause an issue as it’s not rubberized - however rubber grips come in the box
It seems much more well rounded - the side buttons and wheel click acc feel nice unlike g703 where aside from main buttons rest felt bad
But I did have some bad experience with software already, not like logitechs is much better
But it was surprisingly easy to adapt to and my clicks per second - while really low, are the same even though I aam not used to
i built my entire computer from parts I bought online used
look up tech forums in your country, they might have a classifieds page where you can sell
that and/or local craigslist ones
okok thank u
💀 had another one
I wish I had motivation to sell old parts
does a boot rgb exist? (e.g. when the PC starts, the keyboard also has a special startup RGB that only comes at the beginning)
A what now
RGB… That’s why I don’t get it. I don’t see anything on the top or on the bottom.
No, no such thing.
I am. But I am unsuccessful.
They’re not, unless the HE sensors sit within the RGB node 🤷♂️
A friend of mine's €30 keyboard could do that. I was jealous that my 60HE couldn't do that.
It’s very clear on the pictures if you don’t look at the flash shine 🤣🤣
I mean, monitors? 🥴
It’s a tiny bit dimmer than Wooting but still shockingly bright. I’d presume these don’t last nearly as long though.
“I don't even see how you could get red green and blue from something that small”
Thing is, you get red green and blue from something that small.
No, what’s that?
The one on the ATK has a black square inside it, not white like the one you showed.
It looks different.
who does these days
35mm film or GO HOME ZOOMERS
i have a point and shoot cam, a decent one, but i hardly ever use it
My brother has one, I don’t. But my light is shit here anyway.
better light and 3x zoom cam?
I don’t remember. 😬
The orange/yellow things are resistors for the RGB right?
I also couldn’t find HE sensors much smaller than on the 60HE.
Someone grab a rifle and shoot me. I was considering trying Linux for a second there for some reason.
Windows fucks something simple up again

I shitcanned windows forever when it randomly fucked my sound up, and switching the driver would not fix it. I'm sure you'll like it!!
Thankfully with the SSD price increase, I won't be able to try it out. Crisis averted...for now

What the fuck is a Win11 AI PC
This is literally why I am not installing Win11, the sheer amount of bloat
If I need ChatGPT, I will just open the webpage, I don't want that built-in into the OS
Dedicated Copilot key?
8gb in laptops is criminal
yes
hahah that sounds great, as long as they don’t up the price too much
It’s not apple so probably not
I would say finally something good to come from the AI investor hype.
If this means 16GB will become the baseline with naturally 32gb becoming more common higher up the stack, I am all for it.
As many laptops already start with 16 nowadays
fair
It’s even less of a thing than the original 11 min specs like tpm2.0
That moment you are looking at the most popular laptop at the moment and a top 10 on the list only includes 4 8GB devices, 3 of which are macbooks and the 4th is € 400
Microsoft seems to have pretty decent requirements for including the OS, no?
A webcam with a certain set of specs, 16GB of RAM.
Of course telemetry and all that is garbage, but they do force hardware manufacturers to go somewhere.
Yeah it’s just vex rambling again
I love you too quin
Might as well jump straight into the crocodile pen

Still if the € 400-600 laptop will include 16GB ram because of this, you will probably also see more 32GB ones in the 800-1200 reange.
I like these new requirements
300mm is a pretty big waffle

BTW mark did you see the tsmc Arizona fab delay I pinged you with?
Intel meanwhile said the Germany fab will be the most advanced when it’s finished in 2027

So I think we are safe for a while longer when they think that is actually going to work out well
Question: why is Intel building a fab in Germany?
Last I heard you actually need people with degrees and knowledge in semiconductors to you know, hire employees
Not too sure Europe has many people of such caliber
you do know we have GF fabs here?
One of their flagship programs or something https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/corporate-responsibility/intel-in-germany.html
Intel announced plans to invest an initial 17 billion euros into a leading-edge semiconductor fab mega-site in Germany, to establish a new research and development (R&D) and design hub in France.
Isn't GF in Taiwan?
if it would be I wouldnt say we have a fab here
I don't know if your gf is in Germany
Huh... I just found out they want to open one of the facilities in Poland
you wouldnt know her she uses a different wafer
I still have a hard time believing they are actually expecting to do a hiring drive in Europe and muster enough qualified employees to run a bleeding edge fab
They will 100% be hiring internationally for most of the positions
we have zeiss and ASML here as well
well yeah they also hire internationally for US fabs..
they have fabs running ireland already too
Hm, when my country tried to butter up TSMC, they told us we are shit and they won't build fabs
and that makes intel 4/3 which is the most current one that is in production
I guess TSMC wasn't very friendly
Which country did they say that to?
Litauen
Told us we have no educational frameworks in place for even beginning to educate peeps in semiconductors so they won't build fabs here lel
This was after my country decided to middle finger mainland and then we tried to butter up Taiwan
Ouch
That whole political thing resulted in a grand total of nothing of value for us, as far as I know
Lots of promises and nothing done
TSMC building fabs here as a "backup" would have been massive
The Lenovo Legion Go is a different kind of detachable. Instead of removing the keyboard, on this device, you simply take off both of its controllers—turning the gaming handheld into a tablet. Its FPS mode is particularly interesting, which transforms the controllers into a mouse and keyboard. Unfortunately, not everything ran smoothly in our te...
yeah also 0% chance of that ever happening
Not too sure if this is tech or game talk
some smaller things sure but not an entire fab and sure as hell nothing leading edge
and yeah it's like that the magdeburg fab is going to be for intels 14A, the first high-NA EUV node with gaafet
while poland might get a assembly/test facility
Already got, there's already prepared build site in Wrocław
look at the tsmc arizona fab and you see why I dont trust these deals until it's mostly done being build at least
Fair
hows the state with polish politics I didnt keep up, are they still going very right?
if so wonder how they react to needing eu/usa people to get that rolling and working there lol
After yesteryear's election right-winged PiS government lost, and now we have pretty central-ish coalition, which heavily favours EU though
that is a good progress then
Nowadays it's more or less cleaning after all that mess they did in previous 8 years
im polish and i dont even follow my country politics much
but pis lost so its better
cant be worse
Exactly
The road to boomerdom is paved with innocent intentions
"Shortage of Skilled Workers".. in U.S
My tiny European countryside never stood a chance
TSMC has some massive standards
It just means they want too much $$ or dont wanna work 24/7 like taiwanese
not actually sub par workers
or are already taken by the other fabs and dont want to switch
or the headline isnt the entire truth since it's just what they want to say to look not at fault
TSMC has been whinging in the news about US people asking too much $$ compared to taiwanese parts and they tried to import taiwan workers to US
Even if other fabs were eating up the workforce TSMC has the money to attract them. TSMC however chooses not to, thinking Americans should work for Taiwanese wages and crying when they don't
Not really the case
Even if they offer 20% more on every listing not everyone is going to suddenly jump in that
Cultures too wide apart. Cant really import culture of nationality to a different folk that do not share the ideals of said nationality.
@pale sigil ^^^^^^

they are charging for an Assistant that is not as good as the competition but the only one you can use on their stuff?
I saw

Ai basically
geez this mac charger is only 35 watts 😮
need help
I have a question to someone in here who owns iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max
Did your phone start working slower and being less responsive after some time of using it?
Like screen not feeling as 120 Hz but more like 80
When typing its feels lagging behind
And stuff?
Im reading on the net that people have this same problem
Even tho their phones have 90-95% free disk space
And refreshing in the background turned off
Isn't that something Apple is known for? Artificially limiting older generations of phones to encourage their users to buy new models
Or did they settle without admitting guilt lol
In my case
(I don't, nor have ever, owned an iPhone)
The newest iPhones on the market
I received iPhone 15 Pro Max as preset, it worked perfectly in the first 3 weeks
But now its lag fiesta
Noone of my Android phones behaved like that
What a joke
Return it and get a real phone 😛
I mean I got it as present for Christmas from my brother
I dont have a receipt or invoice
e.g., this bad boy
This phone was how you bought "cool" status in school
I might sell my iphone and buy newest OnePlus at this point
Android is better system than iOS in my opinion
Jesus what is this monstrosity
razer v3i?
Weird none of my iPhones behaved like that
Iphone 15 problem
Might be hardware or iOS problem
But my 15 pro max worked flawlessly first 3 weeks
Then i updated some of my apps
And boom, it all became less responsive
From my experience it feels like refreshing rate of the screen dropped from 120hz to 60-70Hz
That’s terrible. They’ll probably fix it in the next update
Due to terrible life decisions, I built an all waifu gaming PC

guys im on the glorious website and want the gmmk 2 keyboard and want it to sound thocky. Which switch should I use?
Am I in the right channel O_o
are you on the right discord
idk bruh

usually you'd want to ask that on the companies discord or something neutral, not on the one from a competitor xD
lol
oh shoot
mb
lol
I mean no problem just seems curious xD
idk this was a company lol
https://wooting.io/ buy a wooting keyboard instead
Pretty great keyboards, and software
cool
Gmmk sucks, get a diff custom or a Wooting 👍
Im having trouble with my profiles in the wooting software. any time i try and switch the profile im using, im unable to type, and eventually it reverts back to my digital profile (the top profile). anyone know how i can fix this?
who can find a good and cheap wrist rest from amazon?
Not from Amazon, but a small company you’ve probably never heard of called “wooting” makes a rather solid and inexpensive wrist rest
I’d check it out
@astral haven so i tried my best researching this whole IEC 60027-2 thing... but without paying a cool few hundred eur i cant even read the 1mb PDF files
i dont even understand why a supposed standard is paywalled
also hilarious that gzip rivals AI for text classification https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n39SbRPXKQ

fyi you are still missing the point, but yea standards orgs are rather rude to end users
ya good luck getting something like jedec papers when that really doesnt make sense to be paywalled lmao
from what i recall the point was i said it should be the standard, wikipedia says it is, you guys said its not
thats what you were saying, but you were still misinterpreting what we were saying
i dont know what the actual standards say
but i do know what needs to be done coloquially
id rather explain terms in a convo than misuse terms
you may think that, but you didnt
but i did explain Mbps vs MBps
after pressed, and it wasnt you who used the terms
Whats the difference between 60he and +? For a normal user
Because i bought rh he + since normal he isnt in stock
Thanks
personally wouldnt call it pressed but more like stating a correction to something you claimed. all I can do until I somehow read the IEC standard or someone who has read it can weigh in is trusting wikipedia and my past experience in communicating with ISP and network equipment manufacturers.
Either way we seem to agree to disagree
like yea i understand we are talking about different things
but if you ask for 100MBPS service or 100MBps service you will get 100mbps service
the 60he+ is currently only sold as a module aka it comes without a case if you dont order one
and without switches if you didnt add them
Fuck Apple for removing the headphone jack
Fuck every other brand that decided to follow along
Got to spend at least 200 dollar for wireless buds that support lossless codecs
And then have a phone that can send lossless codecs over BT
Just to have wireless earbuds sound almost as good as 23 dollar wired earphones
now that's just plain not true, dongles work
and chances are you're not going to be concentrating hard enough to notice the difference between aptx and ldac
or notice the difference at all
Dongles affect the sound quality :/
they don't
My own does...
people literally use the apple dongle on pcs as a good dac to make it sound better...
then get something else, there's plenty of dongles that are "good"
if you want dongle reccomendations I can give them if you want
Isn't only the US version of the apple dongle good?
Not the one we can get in EU
its better but the eu version isnt making it worse
it's not that it's "good"
it's that it has more power than the eu version
the apple dongle is shit
but thats not the dongles fault
apple just made it bad on purpose
are you done with your misinf
define shit
way too low voltage
Apple would have reason to make their dongle bad
To make wired earphones sound worse so people buy air pods
it cant be used to plug into a stereo
I think that's the issue with all dongles, not just apples
you can only pull so much from a phone before you start having issues
nah
its got plenty of power
they just put a voltage limit
so really low impedance stuff can get driven quite well
regardless how much its lacking its not bad in terms of making it worse than using a 3.5 jack on iphones so its not an issue there
no quin it is
I've driven 6xx out of the apple dongle before and it sounds fine
@fair gull are you sleeping ?
thats the problem
you dont need to spend 200$ because of it
it sounds fine, but 6xx are relatively sensitive
103db/mw
they're sensitive, high impeadance
sensitive only means you're able to get the proper volume out of it
yes
so if your headphones are 150 ohm and 90db/mw, it just wont work well
but heres the worse problem
name a car that has a high quality amplifier on the 3.5 input
if you quarter the voltage, you are taking a significant amount off the dynamic range of the jack
i was test driving cars without bluetooth and it was pain
after that experience i went and got a generic chinese dongle for the same price as the apple and it was never a problem again
cx31993 shill
ok so for the main point, assume apple is shit, get a different dongle for 5$ or there around and its fine again
yep
but the one every department store stocks is the apple
and the one every hifi reviewer has been recommending forever is the apple
so point is the removal of headphone jack isnt the massive issue lana wants it to be
oh sure
but calling the apple dongle fine is what caused this to be a problem to begin with
a dual use dongle that has a usb c port for power input and a reference usb audio implementation is like $12 and solves most problems
calling a statistically well performing dongle that is commonly used in the audio space to drive iems and easy to drive headphones
"fine" is the issue
yep
because what is good for iems and easy to drive headphones just doesnt work for one of the most important things at least in the us, that being a car
well they did say they're in the eu
