#

for me its more of a time thing when confirming stuff with like codes

#

having to open the app and all

formal lintel
#

yeah exactly

#

Also how it doesn’t bring up the autofill codes until you open the app

pale sigil
#

Use Gmail

#

Problem solved.

formal lintel
#

I’ve just started transitioning everything to hide my email and custom domains cause I got sick of it

rough osprey
#

i sadly have to

rough osprey
#

oh you do

pale sigil
formal lintel
#

apple has a “hide my email” feature which gives an anonymous alias iCloud address per site that you can deactivate which just forwards to your iCloud address

formal lintel
pale sigil
#

I thought that was apple login though

rough osprey
#

ye icloud email exists

formal lintel
#

nah login does the same thing but a bit different

rough osprey
#

haha

pale sigil
#

I just use a specific email for junk logins

cursive summit
#

I like this guy's reviews, pretty cool ladhttps://youtu.be/Jkc3DUMBg6w

pale sigil
#

I used to use alias emails

cursive summit
#

And one of the very few that reviews AFMF

rough osprey
#

wait i can even use my domain with icloud+

formal lintel
#

yeah I use the domain with iCloud

pale sigil
#

But I decided to just make a whole new account that's isolated.

rough osprey
#

I might transition to that then xD

formal lintel
#

works really well and can do catch all so I just make up an email when I’m signing up for stuff

#

just careful not to use it with sites that have a strong potential to get breached lol

rough osprey
#

does google punish your experience in any way when not using gmail adresses

formal lintel
#

ah don’t think so

#

I mean I still have my Gmail for my Google account but I’m like stopping using it for new stuff and moving important stuff over

rough osprey
#

ye ofc

pale sigil
#

Gmail you can make alias emails without making them which is nice.

rough osprey
#

kinda insane value with the lowest icloud+ tier

ashen spindle
formal lintel
#

Is there another way?

rough osprey
#

when does apple add scrollable and more interactable widgets tho

#

for notes and stuff

formal lintel
#

The good thing about hide my email is you can deactivate and delete the aliases so per website you can just stop spam

rough osprey
formal lintel

Exactly 😂

AMD is launching its Fluid Motion Frames technology later this month, the company expects a competing solution from NVIDIA AMD is finally giving its Frame Generation technology a launch date. I need a device for school , I have an old Mac right now it works but not that good , I’m also in the process of building a pc , I was going to get a Mac originally but was thinking about getting a windows laptop for around 3k aed a foldable one with a 3050 and i9 12900H so I could take notes with a pen , was also thinking about getting and iPad as I can use Mac or iPad , I want a Mac to be able to make music anywhere but will struggle to code . I want a windows touchscreen laptop as its lets me take notes with a pen like an iPad , and code easy but all I need to open is Microsoft teams and office 365 and maybe code but we have computers in school for that , the windows foldable will let me game untill I get my full pc (albeit not that good)

cursive summit
minor vine
cursive summit
#

You need what?

#

Like it sounds like you just want a windows equivalent of a macbook

#

With touchscreen and all

#

2-in-1s that actually can game are rare, though

minor vine
#

Not really I love MacBooks and it will let me provide music anywhere witch is what I do , but I wanna take notes at the same time , I will be able to code on my home pc and the computers in school

cursive summit
#

You can't take notes on a macbook? thonk

It can take notes with a pen like iPad , and game not that good but will do me to hook up to my monitor instead of using. A ps4 to game for now untill my 4070 desktop is built

You only need one of them, choose which

They kinda do a similar thing lel

2-in-1s that can game are pretty damn rare

Not that I wanna game just a placeholder for desktop untill I get it thanks I’ll look at them

final flame

Yea I was looking at an iPad for around 500-600£ because for school all I need is note taking , teams and office 365 , but im in computer science and kinda wanna code at home too that’s why I was looking at the ASUs rog x16

cursive summit
#

Pretty sure I saw @pale sigil doing productivity tasks on Deck

#

If you have a display you could prolly just connect it to a display

minor vine
cursive summit
#

I mean, I would consider a Steam Deck

#

It's a relatively powerful handheld

#

You wouldn't spend too much on it

#

And it would maybe be useful later on

#

Especially since you are literally looking for a temporary solution

final flame
cursive summit
#

Wait is this actually true?

#

"APO works by disabling three out of four cores in two E-core clusters. This leaves a single active E-core with all of the shared L2 cache for the cluster to itself (for Raptor Lake, this is 4Mb). Intel has restricted APO to the 14900K/KF that has four clusters of four E-cores and 14700K/KF that has three clusters of four E-cores presumably to leave at least some full clusters functioning. Owners of Intel 12/13/14 gen CPUs with E-cores can partially emulate APO by disabling three out of four per cluster using Windows CPU Affinity."

They just get gains by.. disabling E-core hyperthreading and disabling E-cores?

#

I have used this before methinks for FSR1

#

It's pretty okay

#

Interesting that they came up with their own FG tech

#

Apparently Yuzu uses this tech and it has very little noticeability on small screens, so handhelds

#

More wins for Deck users

ashen spindle
#

win for the deck users? why pay when you can jsut use afmf

#

if your eyes are bad enough to want frame gen on low refresh rate

cursive summit
#

Deck doesn't support afmf though

#

Didn't they enable that feature only for 700m series?

#

It'd be cool if Deck got that, but Deck is linux so, they ain't getting AFMF

ashen spindle
#

once its in gpu open I doubt it takes them long to add it to the linux driver

cursive summit
#

We'll see, I can only root for Deck users

#

For now this FG implementation seems like the only available one?

#

They prolly can use FSR3 though, maybe

ashen spindle
#

iidk I think using frame gen below 100fps baseline means you should check your eyes

cursive summit
#

That's a bit of a strong opinion

ashen spindle

umbral heron

Cheapest one

#

How many polish rubles for one?

ashen spindle
#

dont have data you need to backup and resetting pc is easy

cursive summit
#

That would just work

#

Not like Fallout 76 just work, but just work properly

umbral heron
#

Just work? Synology and QNAP stuff
If you want something more elaborate then I'd recommend dedicated small PC with TrueNAS, which I'm planning to do soon

cursive summit
#

Hmmm

#

I have a spare motherboard

#

Maybe even spare RAM sticks

#

No CPU though, or case, or PSU

#

How would one even go about making a NAS?

#

Like, does it need to be always turned on?

umbral heron
#

Only when you want to access files of course duck_bopping
That's why NAS enclosures are good for 1-4 drives, they need very little power, 10W or thereabouts
For something more PC with NAS dedicated OS is better

halcyon moss

umbral heron

cursive summit
#

Isn't RAID also like halving your data storage just for "integrity"?

halcyon moss
#

Raid 1, mirror, when 2 drives. Alllows one drive to die

final flame
#

Probably can find a graph somewhere with all the advantages and disadvantages to each raid option

cursive summit
#

Like it takes 2 4TB drives, makes them into 1 4TB drive but it's like "safer" or something

#

I read ages ago that's how RAID works

halcyon moss
#

Just read a basic intro into raid.
It gets fun with zfs and the likes

final flame
#

Raid is basically a Buff/Debuff to certain stats
It buffs longevity at the sake of drive space
depending on your setup it even has a passive to tell you when a drive starts having issues and needs to be replaced

umbral heron
#

RAID 0 - takes many 4TB drives, makes (drive count)*4TB volume, but faster
RAID 1 - takes many 4TB drives, makes 4TB volume, but with redundancy, as long as one drive is working it's fine
RAID 5 - takes 3 4TB drives, makes 8TB volume with single drive redundancy
RAID 6 - takes 4 4TB drives, makes 8TB volume with two drives of redundancy

halcyon moss
#

Is that raid 6 correct?

umbral heron
#

RAID 6 is double parity iirc

halcyon moss
#

Ah it's just the drives.
Raid 5 is single parity. Raid 6 double parity

severe phoenix
old marlin
#

Aw one with the same panel releases in a few days btw

cursive summit
#

I guess the drawback is with raid0 you can't make separate volumes?

umbral heron
#

Also that data is striped on several drives
Once you lose one drive you lose all data

reef patrol
#

RAID0 is just a logical merge of several drives. Files can exist spread across several physical drives.
The main attraction is that you have two or more physical drives spinning to provide data reading.

#

Lose a drive and you'll enjoy data corruption

cursive summit
#

Like, how would you even lose a drive

ashen spindle
#

they just die

cursive summit
#

Not a single drive mechanical or solid state has ever died on me

final flame
#

normal drive failure or brownouts among many other things

#

maybe your ac will start leaking on your pc idk

ashen spindle

more drives also means higher chance one of them fails or something gets corrupted

umbral heron
final flame

final flame
#

TYPE
Old_age

cursive summit
#

What does that even mean

#

What are reallocated sectors?

umbral heron
#

Old_age means it's an indicator which is expected to change with age of drive

final flame
#

reallocated sectors are sectors on the drive that are moved to a different place

umbral heron
#

That's how you know you have high quality drive dogekek

reef patrol
# cursive summit What are reallocated sectors?

All drives have spare "sectors" reserved away hidden from the OS and User.

Let's say you have 1024 sectors, you might have 40 additional ones shaved off from the accessible parts. As a sector is worn and damaged eventually, the OS and firmware of the drive will reassign one such sector to a spare one, extending the lifespan of the drive.

#

But at some point you just run out of them, and that's when the problems start.

dots are faster/have less friction

green remnant
#

Ok now like

#

If you remove like

zenith silo
#

if you are bad/have bad mouse control the bigger ones would be easier to use

green remnant
#

So if I use dots it’ll also lead to me having less smooth tracking?

zenith silo
#

if you are bad yes

green remnant
#

If I am bad because I dont know what bad is in this situation would dot skates help me improve

zenith silo
#

does your aim fucking suck? or do you have decent mouse control

green remnant
#

I have good mouse control

#

👍

zenith silo
#

if you have any bit decent mouse control, dots are superior

green remnant
#

How do I apply these correctly cus theres alot of space for me to put them

zenith silo
#

on my lamzu i put them in every corner + middle towards the edge of the mouse

green remnant
#

Could you send a image if you dont mind?

#

Sorry if its alot of questions

zenith silo
#

shit photo but this is how i run mine

green remnant
#

Now last question

#

Or

#

Second last

#

When removing mouse skates, is it impossible to put them back on?

#

And did you notice a drastic change when using dots or just a bit of a change?

zenith silo
#

yeah it is, so long as the adhesive stays on the skate itself

green remnant
#

How would I do that

zenith silo
zenith silo
green remnant
zenith silo
#

its still noticeable, one thing to keep in mind with cloth pads though, you cant push super hard into the pad otherwise the rest of your mouse will be touching the pad

green remnant
#

Alright so now; its ok when skates “bend” when heating them off right?

#

They get a bit flimsy as expected

zenith silo
#

so long as they dont stay bent/have a crease in them yeah they are fine

green remnant
#

So I just needa straighten them?

zenith silo
#

i would put them back on the little white sheet the other skates came on, and flatten them with a book or something

green remnant
#

Alright thanks so much

#

Today was my birthday too so it helped alot 🙏

zenith silo
#

if they dont wanna stay flat, hit them with some heat and put a heavy book on them for like 15m

zenith silo
green remnant
zenith silo
#

how are you liking it so far

green remnant
#

Its alot lighter than my old one and nice

#

The wireless is immaculate

zenith silo
#

i love the shape on the atlantis

green remnant
#

And the quality control is amazing aswell as the shape

#

Yeah it really fits the claw grip

#

And the grip tape

zenith silo
#

havent touched my gpx at all since i got it

zenith silo
#

makes logitechs look like garbage

green remnant
#

Yeah

#

Another thing to tap on is the battery life

#

Its only like 1-3 days but it charges fast

zenith silo
#

yeah the battery is a lot smaller than something like the gpx, also less power efficient

#

but the benefits outway the battery life for me

#

the battery life on 4khz is rough, but i barely use that polling rate anyway

green remnant
#

Yeah I also noticed lie

#

Like

#

My dpi seemed to

#

Get lower?

#

Whenni use

#

Higher hz

#

Whats that about?

zenith silo
#

what dpi are you using at what polling rate

#

you need to adjust dpi accordingly

#

if you use 4k polling with 800dpi you will have nothing but inconsistent polling rate which makes it feel like it stutters

#

dpi wise, i use 2000 for 1k/2k polling

#

and for 4k polling i use 3200/4000

green remnant
zenith silo
#

your dpi needs to be able to saturate your polling rate otherwise it makes it feel like shit

green remnant
#

I usually

zenith silo
green remnant
#

Use

#

800 on 1k

#

Really?

zenith silo
#

use 1600 dpi and lower your sens in game accordingly

green remnant
#

And if I was on 4k I would multiply 800 by 4??

zenith silo
#

when i use 4k i just go 4k dpi

green remnant
#

That seems like alot

zenith silo
#

you can just lower sens in game

green remnant
#

Maybe just me cause I just got my first high hz mouse

zenith silo
#

i dont have issues using 4k polling on my desk top at all

#

but i used to have really good mouse control so i can play ridiculously high sens

#

before injuring my wrists sub 10cm/360 was fairly usable for me lol

green remnant
#

I dont have REALLY bad but I have I’d say above average

#

Like

#

Control

#

If I had to get certain dot skates what brand/product would you reccomend?

zenith silo
green remnant
#

Why do some people just hate dot skates?

zenith silo
#

lack of control

#

same reason people use control pads, its partially a skill issue alongside preference

#

people that dont like fast pads lack control so they prefer the slow pads as it gives them a larger margin of error, same with low sensitivity

green remnant
#

I think the one I have is a control pad

#

But ion really know

zenith silo
#

thats why on games like val/csgo you see most people have fairly low sensitivities

green remnant
#

How can I tell if its a control pad compared to a speed pad?

zenith silo
#

what pad do you have

green remnant
#

Its a corsair pad

#

I dont know what is really is since my friend gave it to me

#

Its black and hos corsair logo on the bottom with a line running on it

zenith silo
#

mm200?

green remnant
#

Yeah

#

I just searched it up

zenith silo
#

its a control pad yeah

green remnant
#

Thats it

#

Damn so would dot skates still work with it?

zenith silo
#

idk how much of a control pad it is, but its more control orientated

zenith silo
#

well not likely it would

green remnant
#

So would it be a good change or bad change?

zenith silo
#

for me it would be a good change

#

this kind of stuff is a lot of preference so its hard to say without you just trying it

#

and if you dont like it, if you did it properly you can just throw your old bigger skates back on

green remnant
#

Alright thanks alot dude

#

I’ll lyk how it goes tommorow when I try

zenith silo
#

no problem, hope you enjoy the mouse have a good one

green remnant
#

Thanks

#

Extra thing, if I’m back and you answer this: I usually play somewhat high sens (on val I play something from .3-.4) and I as you know main claw grip, because I bought a lamzu. So lmk what you think, I have flicky aim, but its a bit more to the relaxed side of “flicky”

zenith silo
#

so long as you have the control for high sens you can play it fine

#

if you are having issues with being shaky/overflicking a bunch my best tip would be to hit up aimlabs/kovaaks/aimbeast

#

play some precision orientated dynamic clicking

#

Ayaneo sure be assholes, trying to cash in on the superior hardware hype

severe phoenix

One Does feature stronger hardware, and costs a lot more though.

severe phoenix

Do keep in mind 5700 has 10% lower boost than the 5800x3d

#

So that can be up to 10% slower so depends on how much cheaper it is

reef patrol
#

It might adjust the price of the 5800 though. That's what I meant.

ashen spindle
#

Yeah might adjust it up dogekek

#

Nah I don’t think it changes much since it’s already lowered since release

reef patrol
#

Or down - Since it will probably be less asked for, now that there's more choice.

ashen spindle
#

The 5800x3d costs 280 on mindfactory, msrp for the 57 is 249$

#

Adding conversion and taxes that’s is basically the same

#

And I doubt it makes the better product cost less than the worse one xD

reef patrol
#

Might not be by much, or immediately.

ashen spindle
#

5800x3d isn’t EOL though

reef patrol

That's... not what I 'm saying.

ashen spindle
#

You mean they instantly lower the 57 price then?

reef patrol
#

Ye gods...

ashen spindle
#

I am confused yes xD

reef patrol
#

The 5800X3D has the spot of "the CPU to get if you're stuck on AM4", but now that the 5700X3D is coming, it's going to lose some of that spotlight. Meaning retailers will begin to take steps to avoid being stuck with too much inventory when the CPUs go EOL or market interest vanes in favour of a full AM5 refresh.

ashen spindle
#

I do get that, but the 57 releases with a price that is basically identical to the 58 so I’m not sure that it steals any spotlight

reef patrol
ashen spindle
#

It’s a straight up worse option for 5€ less

#

So how would that adjust the 58 prices

#

If they lower it even more it means they sell the better version for cheaper?

I understand your point if it was like 100€ less
