why go for an old ryzen chipset?
Becuase they already have the RAM and motherboard I'd assume?
Could probably find a used 5800X3D though.
it's a decision of either upgradability or value for the money
Just providing a likely theory 😄
Calslock and ssuvac recommended these
If you don't care about ray-tracing and DLSS, 7800XT is very solid GPU, I'd recommend 👍
And power spikes and driver stability
and cuda cores
And reflex
Throwing around random words doesn’t do anything
A way to legit upscale image using ai
Dlss is superior to any upscaling technology
raytracing is just a way to render lighting
power spikes if more or less the same and if you have fitting psu it doesnt change anything anyway
driver stability is same for both companies
Its not
cuda cores 99% of gamers never use
Is ray tracing and dlss needed
no
I have first hand experience with that
Is that import
its important when you want to play games at higher fps/resolution
Ahh ok
wat
raytracing is still uhhh gimmicy in terms of that gpus still have years to make rt perforkance bettsr
Yea amd tends to release drivers that brick games randomly for example
no??
Yes
5 years ago maybe
happened to me and a lot of other people
One day i tried to launch mhw and the game crashed at startup because of a driver update
anecdotal evidence doesnt matter or me having no issues on amd and tons of issues on nvidia means amd is perfect
Catalyst was a piece of junk software
Adrenaline is ok though
your experience is anecdotal
im not saying it never happens, but nvidia drivers also cause issues
hence they are about equal
On forums you'll mostly find people complaining, who goes to forums if everything works as intended
either way i dont care, thats my experience from using both cards
Nvidia drivers never failed me
so its literally anecdotal
nvidia never have issues
amd has never failed me
very anecdotal tho
I was just lucky and dodged bigger issues
same goes for nvidia tho
"this is not anecdotal, it's based on my anecdotal experience"
besides that nvidia obviously sucks in terms of that you need to buy like 4080 to have the vram.amount that makes sense
Like i dont care, this happened to many other people which i know for a fact
i just moved my pc, nothing taken out, no foam inside, and only thing broken is my wifi antenna lmao
yes and it happens to both companies
do you know how many 4080/4090 buyers had to deal with blackscreens either after a while or since first plugging in the card because they messed up and you had to update vbios on the cards manually?
that doesnt mean I now say amd is better just because that one thing never happend on any of their recent cards
space invaders memory corruption will never not be funny indeed
I see we are having the driver argument
the usual one
not really we just have someone dropping buzzwords
outside of the funny vapor chamber thing I don't think AMD had a major botched launch on the hardware side?
(funny because it is a stupid problem)
I wonder if anyone here has tried using oled monitor/tv for work
yes works just fine
Nah, for work only IPS
Im wonderig whether the panel wont just die on you in under a year even if you do all the refresh cycles
na
if you use it 8h a day+
nope
used my alienware for coding and gaming since release and got no burn in still
U2719D my beloved
I think I might start to see burn in in one spot because there are 9 white ui buttons I never move but I'll just move that around in the hud and that should be fine after some time again
right after flying cars
You mean helicopters?
microled for 100x less the price when
I was amazed Linus wanted a the wall
What
Samsung makes a 150 inch micro led called "the wall"
146 inch 220k usd
He mentioned it in the home lan videi
not the first time tho
He had 2 extra circuits installed where his screen is just in case he manages to get one
As they use a fuck ton of power
Granted it will do like 1500 nits
150 inch's of 1500 nits is insane
Normal imax is 50nit, laser is 80
Most mid range home projectors get to that level at 150 inch
1500 nits at 150 inch is like 20k lumens of projection
i heard that microled can ez do 1000hz if the cable technology gets there
You would never need 1000hz
you do
without bfi yea
1000hz is about where human vision limits end
probably
people were saying that about 30hz
but its scientifically proven that human eye can recognize shapes at 1000hz
and if you want analog real life like experience then you want something that the eye cant distinguish from reality
obviously it doesnt apply in the same way to movies which apply ridiculous amount of analog blur
but people were saying that you cant see a difference with 60hz to 120hz then 120hz to 240 hz...
and we are at 540hz panels
and this is still not enough to eliminate blur from motion

The 150-200 is the maximum you can actually tell if it's a instantaneous video source like film
Issue is display tech isn't instant
That's a cost reason. Film is expensive and it wears out
Running film though a projector faster means it last less
So they stuck with 24
Film was slower than 24 pre-sound
Adding sound to film required 24 to be good enough quality
for games i would totally want at least 500hz
Nah if you had a instant video source more than 200 is a waste
Micro led/OLED at much more than 200 is almost at the limit of what you can see
But LCD tech is slower
Cost money
You need more light to capture images that fast
well i for sure hope that movies wont be stuck at low hz forever
Let just producers choose what framerates they prefer at movies
In case of movies and especially animation more fps doesn't equal better
Both 2d and 3d, it doesn't have to be necessarily fluid
but animating models for 120hz woudl be definitely much harder
It's not harder to animate in a higher framerate. It takes more render time though.
On the topic of monitors though.
Im still kinda scared to go qdoled
I don't really wanna spend a lot and only have 3y warranty on burn in 😅
i cant go back after using 4k screen
Yeah it is, you have to make sure all your motions are smooth enough
render time is becoming less of an issue when people have access to stuff like 4090, but like higher hz will show flaws in your animation obviously
If you consider that "more difficult", then your abilities to rig and animate are terrible. It's just adding more steps inbetween. You have all of the information for each step readily available.
At least with hand drawing, you need to account for motion in a real way and account for motion blur.
If you can't double the number of animation steps without considering it a difficult task, your 30fps animation was jank and stuttery to begin with.
If you think a 4090 makes a dent in rendering for a movie I got a bridge to sell you
Ow
165hz od-oled being a monster lol
not like the woled is far behind
Crazy how they even offer a 540h, tn vs oled
wait tn?
Yeah but shows that 240hz is almost wasted
wtf why is the tn panel so high
You can drive to the hardest
i thought we burned all TN panels years ago
As it's a very robust panel
Only way to advertise the highest refresh rate XD
Imagine the color difference between a 540hz TN and a qd-oled lol
You'd think the OLED was HDR in a side by side XD

@astral haven any recommendations for a camera for a beginner that’s not much more than 500$? Videos don’t matter but some might performance would be nice
subjects?
iPhone 15 pro
Doubles as an iPhone
or types of photography?
ah yes lemme just find an ip15p for $500
Combine that with the cost savings of getting a phone with a solid camera over a solid camera and a phone without
Let me ask
besides its not particularly great for photos
Mainly landscapes and humans so two quite different things
depends on the type of "human" work
Wdym
I think they also want to do some architecture and such photos, let me ask but I am not sure if they know tbh
for $500 its best to keep the phone, using a photoncam supported phone for high quality raws is often a good bet
They currently have an iPhone 12 Pro Max
if they can say what they dont like about it i can help with that?
Even a 12pm has an amazing camera
For how old it is?
the 15 pro max gets kinda wrecked by a $400 mirrorless from 10 years ago
at least for photos
video is a different story
“I think the most annoying thing is having to be so close to the person in order to take a portrait and not having more of the background in the picture”
Is what they say
what?
Same tbh
the main strength of phones is how you can get all of the background in focus
I mean hell you can just wide angle it lol
I ment if that was the only complaint
yea wouldnt bother with getting anything else
“like you have to be rather close to a person when taking a portrait on my phone (like in portrait mode) and most of the background is obscured”
so turn off portrait mode?
stepping back doesnt help, the iphone still background blurs portraits even from far (ish) away
As like a SW thing?
yea
Ah didn't know that
Turns out they were using portrait mode
They mentioned they’d want higher quality so I guess higher res

damn i didnt see that coming
Every year Elon promises self driving people buy the computer and then turns out nope now you gotta buy the new computer just to get one new addition that requires no driver input. That will save some wallets too
meh, the best already exists. ASUS 540hz
@umbral heron tyvm idk if you received the message

i had one here too
but Asus PG27AQN is just top notch
tn gets better and better
would never get TN myself either but it's always nice to see progress, sometimes that can translate to new findings for other variants too
Lets hope there will be OLED without Burn in issue
qd oled made it a lot better already, im hoping we get qned soon or something similar that goes the next step
qned would eliminate the burn in issues
What is qned ? 😅
i returned my PG27AQDM for that reason
and for work (reading) it was a pain in the a
Quantum Nanorod Emitting Diode
neat
sadly the last news is from 2022 that samsung delayed production
micro led where
didnt aoc release a "cheap" oled which even would go brighter than asus
Okay, thanks you ^^
theres literally no reason to wait for this monitor. ASUS 540 already exists
its pretty easy to guess
theres already two 500hz monitors out there. the alienware was a shitty one (Expected) and theres asus
no one cares about gsync. i turn that shit off the very first moment i boot up my monitor
it makes the monitor more expensive tho
having the 540hz panel for below 1k would be big
in ur dreams
also, Displayport 2.1 in new monitors ain't gonna happen until stupid-ass nvidia puts DP 2.1 in their GPUs... i hope its 50th gen
a good gsync module has the advantage of it making sure the panel meets certain standards, but unless they have a never version coming the hdmi limitation does make it kinda useless for that refresh range
maybe its the same 540 panel but they bin the batches and its 560 or something just to have the higher number lol
isnt 540 one already in a "oc" mode?
like you need to enable a extra setting to go from 500 to 540
yeah probably, they all do that at the top but maybe thius one does it further
yeah pointless overdrive modes are so bad
oled for clear motion at any refresh rate
nah
oled jutter is a problem, and only lcds can strobe under a milisecond over 100 nits
ulmb2 is goated
jutter even on qd-oled and the 240hz 27" ones?
ofc
oof
oled has low pixel response times
not low motion blur
Written by Mark Rejhon (aka Chief Blur Buster) originally in 2013. Edited for 2019.
OLED has been regarded as a Holy Grail for eliminating motion blur. Unfortunately, not always: The portable Playstation Vita, and the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy still have lots of motion blur during fast scrolling animations. They are not low-persistence OLEDs.
...
the C2 with strobing was super clear
no it wasn't
plenty at only 120hz
yea but it gets absolutely stomped by lcds with lightboost from 2012 (in terms of motion blur)
still need to try a ULMB 2 monitor
would love to see that article updated with current gen tests
oh, waa-waa. good to know my TN panel will still be good for a while then
I have strobing on my monitor, but it's not a good implementation
yea only better options are nvidia
only 2 monitors with ULMB 2 atm
since stuff will get diminishing returns so newer oled tech will make the drawbacks smaller while keeping advantages like contrast, bit harder to make tn look as nice xd
1440p 360hz OLED soon tm
oh yeah I am under no illusions this monitor is mid-tier otherwise. I just feared it will be made super redundant with oled, a year after buying it lol
yup
oled wrecks the lcds in terms of overall image, but specifically motion blur is not their strength
oled gets you the best motion blur without strobing, but strobing is another level
360 Hz would be unholy
will lg only do 480hz on the 31inch one
can't imagein
or also on a 27inch one
someone buy enough samsung shares to ask them on investor calls when they finally reveal something new about qned lel just skip the oled pahse and get better stuff

you're just encouraging the war thunder players to leak more documents
LMAO, honestly a good strategy, if people bought shares as much as they swiped, maybe they'd be able to be irl whales smh
whatever, giv 480 regardless
after the current delays it seems like production like before 27 isn't looking likely so at that point might ask if they didnt cancel it entirely which would suck
ah 27inch 480hz wqhd 2025+
i mean only in 1080p mode
🤷
I wouldn't mind the 4k 240hz oled, and run games at 1080p
Nah
Giv integer scaling
yeah, they haven't released a certified monitor in a bit
they be bustin'
also where are the good 24inch ips panels
did they just stop evolving them?
then that
like no real 360hz competition to tn
and the 500hz is also bad in current implementation
ye
do i need to ask you to elaborate..
I remember dell making a 1440p 24" monitor
can still buy it
hm... I guess for the price it's okay
im happy with 4k 32 but i kinda want larger
but i also dont want to downgrade refresh
how much larger?
but not 240hz
it is
ah but im not willing to downgrade from 4k either
but it's not popular for a reason
thats the ppi of 32 inch 1440p which again ive got 32 inch 4k and i dont want to downgrade
willing to go with still 4k but further away to keep the same ppd, but would prefer to not downgrade
samsung has the odyssey oled that is oled
if samsung made a 16:9 that basically was quad 1440p id be ok with that as long as it was 240hz
is that the same res as the pro display xdr?
kek
unlike our 4k with the missing 160 pixels
i considered the odyssey ark for a minute, but its nowhere near 240hz
and it doesnt support vesa mounting afaik
kek, the stand is gigantic
odessy ark 2, 240hz and make it qd oled

whymst the heck does sony remove ibis from the video centric version of the camera
Sony's compact vlog-centric ZV-E10 looks to be readying for an update before the middle of 2024. The new compact camera is rumoured to be based on the tech in the recent A6700. It will likely feature much of the same design as the outgoing model, meaning no EVF and no in-body image stabilisation, although at almost half the price of the A6700.
the USB port on the back confounds me, is that intended for external dacs?
oh yeah, kind of obvious since it's right next to aux
or mouse and keyboard
i wonder if the mouse and keyboard can control the internal menus (since its a smart tv)
I can connect a wireless usb keyboard and control my projector running android that way, so probably
yea but samsung is beyond lazy
the lazy thing would probably be to just take a ready-made solution that worx lol
which wouldnt have that
what do these run under the hood?
a normal usb hub would allow them to put the ports on the spec sheet
oh my god what the fuck
oh yea tizen is fantastic /s
this has bad idea written all over it
you sure?
im pretty sure that all of their feature phones ran it
according to wikipedo, it's just the Samsung Z series
they had a full series that ran for 3 years
what market was this sold in?
it was 80 bux when it was new...
ooh the samsung nx1 ran tizen
the nx1 is actually an incredible mirrorless camera still
weird to think a camera could host a web server. the future is truly now
meh that used to be more common
my sony a5000 runs full on android, with actual android app support*
*its android 2.3
part of me wishes i bought an nx500 (nearly identical to the nx1 but smaller) but it isnt compatible with my other lenses
Did you forget they made a wifi sd card that ran a web server lol
i wish that was how that worked 😦
forgetting implies I knew in the first place, which I now do I guess
unfortunately those cards only work with compatible cameras unless theyve made some progress in the last 5 years
oh, then it's probably Sony that made those
It is how it worked, but it wasn't just that
actually nope!
it was an official sd standard
what the samhain
it had a wifi radio in the card, but the camera had to control it
I'm talking flash air
Which is just a computer inside a sd card
I forget the one that had to have camera/pda supprt
eye-fi
Yeab
Flash air is a tiny wifi computer
It connects to your asid
And saves the settings
People use them in everything
not a smart idea to name your product like 2 adobe products simultaneously
outdated ones even
It's flashair
One word
Flash and air are eol from Adobe though so meh lol
Granted so is flashair
holy mackerel
10 seconds for 20 megabytes
Yeah not fast
my sony uploads to my server at something around 10x that, and its even faster to my phone
I guess I can think of a few situations where it could save time. knowing computer operating systems, it would of course be finnicky and unstable, making the thing more annoying than simply reading the card
its for when your fkn manufacturer yeets the sd reader from your laptop and phone -_-
hehe, the last laptop I had came with it broken. not quite, actually, it would work under mysterious circumstances sometimes
actually I've come across several knackered SD readers on laptops... but I've never encountered a broken USB reader, somehow
still using the one I got over a decade ago, anyway. never lets me down. but finding the fucking thing is arduous when I need to use it once every couple of months
i use it very rarely, mostly when i want to mess with a video and it hadnt automatically synced to my phone
HE STOLE MY JOKE XD
Everyone wants the Linux distribution they are using to be fast. This is practically a content-free statement, of course: who would want their distro to be slow? But at the same time, what does it mean for your distribution to be fast? For example, Ubuntu 21.10 switched the default compression for packages to zstd, which […]

oh my god i love it
Yeah but they can have high end thermals
Also real night vision
I wish mine could do thermal over the nv
Also it has a IMX766 it isn't terrible
Did you change your FE to this? 👀
Not gunna lie, this looks like one of those "is it real or is it cake" things
it doesnt even look good, at least buy the noctua edition
I mean def less noise
Well i'd mainly see that someone would like it in a themed build
Thicker fans are going to do better all things consider
I think Der8auer made a Noctua version for some other card
Yeah and some of them are botched attempts
Strapping Noctuas on with some zip-ties or some other solution
I actually like my no fan rig
Just need to actually get a new GPU so I can make real ducts
hehe
Dose 6.6.6 increase doom performance?
good sensor but the ISP is slow, and the faster the isp the more images you can accumulate for photos for stacking
Yeah like I said, not terrible
It has a visible filtered version of the same sensor for night vision
It's really fucking good
thats pretty good
is it available in 3rd party apps at full resolution for video?
i mean full resolution
Issue is that third party apps seem to force the IR flash on
12 megapixels
Yep
what fps?
The stock app is really good though
No idea
I only used it once and I couldn't turn off the IR leds
So I gave up
mcpro24fps has a free version
I think the ir led is going to be an issue for anything 3rd party
They are useless for long distance
My edc light has a long throw ir led and the combo is ridiculous
I could drive with it
wow
Yeah
yea id like that but im not willing to compromise on the main sensor
It's amazing how good a sensor is with just a swap of filters
and I also want a zoom
Because the main shooter sucks
In super low light
But I guess with the IR led it isnt actually low light
Again it would be killer if the thermal would use the IR for overlay
It's a 24fps thermal sensor

the iphones now have ringing (oversharpening) artifacts like the other main android makers, and the xiaomi still produces far better video
google is the only one without ringing issues, but its definetly not as sharp as the others
oooh hmm yea that does make some sense
I've also dropped it 100s of times
It freaks people out
I drop it while walking and kick it
i wish that folks would do gyro ois
And pick it up with out a care

also i have an identical digital and analog profile, is there any difference bettween them? i know you can only use the gamepad in analog but since im not using that i thought digital would be better, am i thinking about it wrong?

oh shit i never knew about this lol thanks
what about the digital vs analog thingo? is there any difference besides one being able to use gamepad and the other not?

Mother of fucks... Chrome pushed a new update. And I hate it 😄
raises some questions
yup
it's bad
What did chrome do this time?
Not using Firefox is like masochism
UI changes
Ah the bane of everyone's existance. non-controversial ui changes are pretty rare
Chromium looks pretty much the same, it's Chrome only change?
Imagine using Chrome 😂😂😂
I would use firefox if it didn't have stupid issues every now and then
Only hurdle I have with Firefox is lack of support for PWA apps
PWA apps I never really used. but webusb I do think firefox shouldn't be so stuborn about. Yes they are a security risk, but no more than the alternative.
That being said having a chromium based browser to control webusb devices from time to time is fine.
If it's so big security risk then they should just make it a toggle in settings, the same one there already is to set up tracking protection
For PWA apps I have to use Teams in work, and there's no Linux native app, so PWA it is
I mean chrome just asks you "do you want to connect"
can't imagine a toggle being more secure than that
Yeah, but for those security nuts, so they could just toggle it and don't even bother with Firefox asking for permission
I have a feeling they'd complain about FF asking even more, "what if I miss-click it"
The worst people in OSS - "I don't use it, hence it's not necessary", despite the fact millions of people using it... Looking at you Wayland -.-
There are real security concerns with mallicious websites faking they are something else abusing webusb and relying on gullable people to click on yes.
Something like this would to the job
There is currently no good alternative.
Personally I think firefox should support webusb however it being a security concern cannot be denied.
The value of being able to control usb devices platform independant without require a separate program makes it worth the risks.
Especially since it already exists and chrome uses it.
As always - Make things an option, not a default and no one gets hurt.
because mozilla and apple have security concerns about those apis as google just forced them into chromium
so webkit/safari and firefox wont have it
(google refuses to cooperate with both on making a secure standard btw)
I dunno, their position sounds a bit like "we are holier-than-thou"... Same with RFP discussion https://github.com/mozilla/standards-positions/issues/100
I get that IT guys think of regular user as someone who can't even hold a hammer, but come on...
im on mozillas and apples side on this one. if not for google cant just put whatever they want out there as a standard and force everyone to implement it
we are talking about people who at one point thought their iphone charges through microwaves
and having worked tech support i also think people cant hold hammers
True
I don't see Mozilla making a safer alternative protocol?
because they want to just make the chrome one more secure ideally
That's just a lazy deflection.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it stop jumping off a bridge. Even if you put a big fat sign warning people that doing so will harm or kill you.
You can't gatekeep people, because then they will look elsewhere for an open gate.
They kinda make it sound like it's hardware designers fault, because they don't make devices handle USB protocols properly
I personally think with webusb, the benefits outweigh the risks but I cannot deny there are real security risks.
For example if someone were to clone wootility on a domain called wootility.dev then unsuspecting users who got there download the driver and it includes malware.
There are no good options to truely secure it, other than implement it and work with an active whitelist of services that are allowed to use it.
you would be surprised how many companies dont deal with usb properly hardware and software wise
lol
Nah, I know, try any random cheap device and most likely it won't be "up to standard"
even costly devices often times
anything past usb2.0 fullspeed is incredibly complex in terms of timing, implementations, how to communicate with controller chips and what not
Ain't there IC which do the heavy lifting for you? And I imagine they aren't that expensive
you still have to talk to that ic
lets say i can hear our hardware and fw devs crying about usb more than i expected
May be, the most I played around with was some easy to do HID signals
Saw a comment on the Arch forums that the patch that broke wifi for so many people in kernel 6.6.5 was made by someone working at Intel
And that this was done on purpose in collaboration with Microsoft to make Linux seem like its not working properly
Which doesn't make sense
Cause Intel have their own Linux called ClearLinux
People assuming malice over stupidity, nothing new here.
Yep..
hanlons razor
You never know with these people
Might be stupidity, might be intentional
Nah, Intel is very Linux-friendly, they're 2nd biggest corpo contributor to kernel, just after RedHat
The point is it requires evidence to make malice probable.
There is non of that, besides if someone has a bad history of patches, I am sure they would not be allowed to push something like that.
If only nvidia was linux friendly...
It's not that Nvidia doesn't like linux, it's just that they are very controlling over their own software stack and won't go down the open source drivers route.
yeah met him once, he was an asshole
Looks like it was a fix for another problem, which just wasn't tested properly, is all https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-wireless/patch/20231106231715.3a506ac2dadb.Ie774b85b9d4ff934a1236e77096cb9c6c9fe6561@changeid/
Of course they won't go open-source route
The second they'd make open their current drivers, the line of corporate lawyers would start forming, each with C&D and patent infringement papers in hand
Or buy AMD
Oh yeah, Battlemage is rumoured to be head-to-head with 4070Ti in gaming, could be nice
Yeah it won’t lol
I would be EXTREMELY surprised
You guys don't trust random tweets with leaks?
I trust the leakers that have some sort of credibility
And given that we get BMG when rdna4 should also hit shelves, that’s not likely to do much and then hitting so much higher that they reach a 4070 on top of that would be too unlikely
Chrome has the largest right click menu ever now.... I hate it
Firefox one got larger too... wtf?
On my home PC in Firefox it's twice as long
just about the same

Fine
bitwarden gigachad

MacOS has such a distince style I can notice it right away aha
I like how every single one has uBlock
Show your uBlock filter list now!
I run it stock... xd
Does MacOS limit how large a context menu can be?
they all seem to be the same width in MacOS
no matter what app you are on

oo... how do I apply these filters?
They are in uBlock by default, you just have to enable them in the settings
oooohhhhh
The EasyList annoyances tends to break a lot of sites, so be cautious ;)
Does it update the lists when you save changes or must I update them first?
It updates when you hit apply changes
ah :D
Any idea how to block specific directory on a website? I found a way, but it only really works when you directly go to that link
if you end up on the same link, but went there from a different website, it doesn't get blocked
I still use umatrix for more granular blocking lol
I find it funny how YT Music choose this song next to play while I am updating my ad / tracking blocking extensions....
MTL launched but no review today it seems? Oof
Nvm seems nda lifts in 3 hours not now
mtl?
ah
.-. wtf is this shit ;-;
Looks like hashmap
its simple maths
In computing, the modulo operation returns the remainder or signed remainder of a division, after one number is divided by another (called the modulus of the operation).
Given two positive numbers a and n, a modulo n (often abbreviated as a mod n) is the remainder of the Euclidean division of a by n, where a is the dividend and n is the divisor....
Phone is being used as hash function input
So, you take phone number from first record, do mod 10 on it, and it gives you the bucket where you should store it
Then second and so on
Mod 10 is simply put last digit of a number
so, this stores record data as hash instead of the actual data?
that cuts down on storage space but surely it makes it harder to process when needed in a query?
Nah, it still stores data, but uses hash to figure out where to store it
it basically just is a function to split up a big dataset into small sets. and running another phonenumber through the hash youd know which small set to find the record in and then you can query against a smaller set
Also hash functions are irreversible, so... kinda hard to store data that way
ofc you can do this hashing up to where your input results in the right entry right away
Intel officially confirms IPC regression.....😅

incredibly difficult though for diverse sets as you need to ideally pick things to hash that are very unique AND easy/fast to hash
otherwise you may as well query without hashes if hashing takes too long

Regression Lake
Ok, now I need to find out what address space reduction is
And that’s why we got 14th gen
Because no change is better than regression
Since on desktop powerdraw that would likely even be worse
Hah! It works!
Is Btree file organisation the same as B+-Tree file organisation??
my head hurts ;-;
Ain't that B+ tree? Never heard of B+-Tree
And it's not unknown author, it's copy-pasted from Wikipedia

What basic switches are included in the keyboard, green or yellow?
Wiffany
With UwU L45s (yellow) and L60s (green) are included in package
For other L60s
Is the color. L60 is the name of the switches
Prebuilt comes with L60s preinstalled, 60HE+ module does not come with switches
Wait, wiffany?
Wiffany
wat?

I can never understand colleges that require students not to use a calculator for math exams .-.
Like why TF not????
What kind of work environment could you possibly be in where you can't use a calculator?!
It's to show that you understand HOW the math works, and is contained to simpler problems.
you aren't going to solve any complex equations without one lol
Yeah but idk anyone who can multiply or divide massive numbers in their head
I can
And those are the problems you're asked to solve without a calculator?
at below university level for me, a calculator wasnt allowed. in university we are allowed to use a calculator and whatever else we bring (written like text books, printed out old exams so on)
Most math problem involve calculating numbers from other numbers in some way
So yeah
More like 3.34e11 * 3.63e11 / 5386
We have calculators since we leave primary school, honestly probably before that these days. But the math is also more involved..
And you can easily count it by hand
You didn't answer my question.
Yes
why
Usually when a calculator isn’t allowed that means the math is simple enough to do quickly on paper or in your head
If you had to solve some massive equation
And the numbers where large
You could explain each step as you go but you might not be able to do the calculations for each step in your head
Idk not allowing calculator is some caveman teaching methodology for me
So you'd need a calculator
Yeah I think Lana's bullshitting tbh. I have never, ever experienced a no-calc math problem, that I couldn't reasonably solve.
Hmmm
They had to do a tax sheet without one
You can do most math problems by calculating them on paper
Not using a calculator is NOT the same as "you're not allowed to write down"
Finding percentages of values
Can't say any of my exams had calcs allowed.
And most I failed till I left school and hired an actual teacher
Idk
Doing tax stuff without a calculator seems odd
Computers exists because our ape brains are bad at adding numbers together
Can you find the percentage of a large number without one?
Yeah, divide by 100 and multiply by percentage value
All of my math exams have always been a written and an oral part. Written is split into one that's done on the spot (i.e. math by head, write down the work, no calc) and excel spreadsheet stuff, with lots of numbers and calculations, that you can automate. You're showing that you understand how say... budgets work. Not that you can juggle large numbers.
programmable calculators
I have a pen
I have an apple
Ah
Apple pen
With this strategy, anything is possible!
lol
is long division and multiplication not taught by irish schools anymore?
long division, yes
did you actually attend middle school?
yes
💀
attending doesn’t require what?
I did college too
a calculator for me was just a tool to confirm i did math right usually
If I remember right we started with very basic addition and subtraction, maybe even some multiplication in kindergarten lol
not to mention i only got a basic calc no programmable one and no graphing function
yeah same up until i started university
NVIDIA GTX 16 series to be discontinued Board Channels claim that NVIDIA is planning to discontinue its last GeForce GTX series in the first quarter of next year. It was inevitable
Very cool
Cool, a bit slow on my end https://gpuopen.com/fidelityfx-super-resolution-3/
Based on what I heard of its implementation on that Avatar game, it's really good
FSR2 needs to play catchup to DLSS2/3.5 though
It seems that the perfect game renders the game in 3 separate stages
The input stage, the game render stage, and the UI stage
Input can be rendered in like some 540FPS at which it's basically insane, and if you detach it from the graphical rendering, can be absolutely amazing to deal with low FPS scenarios
Also at that point DLSS3/FSR3 can help out a lot more
UI rendering should also be separate cause those frame generations fuckin hate UI
i wonder what the 2586x price gonna be like
lol new raptor lake xeons wiht 0 E core still have avx512 disabled
Of course, if they allowed people to use it, they may as well have had a bios option to enable avx512 by disabling the ecores.
Now they don't have to validate the avx512 portion of the chips at all.
more like it shows they never fixed the avx512 issues alder lake had
some FP subset was having issues apparently \
and thats some of the better reasons why it was disabled there, though you could argue still benefit to just have it and disable that one in microcode
AMD would in this case probably just have made it a bios toggle and label it experimental or something.
That would of course have been best. Still without issues the chips run at lower frequencies with avx512 and enabling it would require some extra validation runs, not needed on the chips with it enabled.
So it could also be a choice here, even if avx512 no longer has issues.
nope it doesnt lower frequencies anymore
Ah I guess my knowledge was a bit outdated here, still segmentation could make it something intel's marketing team doesn't want.
xeons aren't really something you'd put in your gaming pc so its already segmented
and other xeons that are based on server chips obviously have it lmao
Oh this was a bout xeons, fair enough at that point I don't know.
It being bugged seems the most plausible.

Monitor question:
If I were to buy a 540hz monitor and do not hit 540 fps in every game, would there be any negatives?
Realistically the only games I would even be able to achieve 540 fps is cs (almost) Minecraft and overwatch.
another reminder post that the person who I gave the /fxtwitter.com domain to, runs, maintains modern fxtwitter (and fixupx) is dangeredwolf, who has been shown to have groomed minors (proof https://youtu.be/ljCAoODguok)
Do not use fxtwitter / fixupx!
use vxtwitter / fixvx instead!
?
so let me get that right, someone use vx twitter to fix an embed, then you tag that with a tweet of someone saying the guy running fx twitter is a groomer and use fx to embed that
like if you mean what I think you are implying with that you could just ask for a ban directly
dont care if its bait given who posted it I would not be surprised
oh right he probably has me blocked because I dared to tell him to remove his seizure inducing profile
@reef patrol mind asking him what our buddy is implying with that post

Linus torvalds wants avx 512 to die a silent death
Database design
yeah that's years old now and no longer accurate
I cant find designs searching it
MSSQL and OracleSQL for sure in the past
I'm not sure which ones now, last time i played with databases was 5 years ago
not if a lot of companies still use it :/
oh
avx512 or rather avx10 as the next step is called to clean up that mess has less issues now that it's not just a power virus it's not something that really is an issue int he way it was when he made the comment
I don't get the question Lana, Denormalization is just good practice up to a certain level in relational databases
got to answer these two questions
how much is that monitor?
"Ideal answer" YEAH!
Sure I want to play in bed with an external monitor
These equations make more sense
with two cables going between it and the deck
huh?

Or.. Maybe that's just references
this is a list of the pros of it
Some people got it at a pricing error of 98$ USD
For two
I know a guy on another Discord got it,if I had known, I'd have tried, sheeit
damn, kinda tough to pick between 4070TISuper and 4080 Super if I am already spending that much
80super is likely going to be up in price lol
yeah I thought it would be 900 and 1300
oh no those prices are just speculation
prices are one thing you can never trust any leak on
then 4070tisuper it is
like it could be accurate but then its just educated guess
20 series famously got price adjusted by jensen before we went on stage
AIB profit margin goes reverse bbrbrrrrrr
or was that 30 series?
mid range RDNA 4 is next year right?
I would buy a 7900xtx if it weren't for the idle power draw and general power draw
I mean they are, sales aren't that great
lol what else are they going to do
Looks like, gfx1200 and 1201 were pulled into llvm already, so their release is sooner than later
i have one and yeah, idle power draw hovers around 100w, but i don't really care personally
ooo, hope they ironed out the quirks with the multi die
multi die isnt causing any issue
I was agreeing with you
and yeah CES announcement I think
they are = they took the L
Ray-tracing
rdna3 is selling better than 2 ironically
lol
Didn't the latest drivers not fix idle power?
what monitor set up do you have?
we're still 3 gens on nvidia away from raytracing being worth it I'd say
I dunno, I couldn't care less about ray-tracing, in most cases it looks nearly identical to well made cubemaps
more if we talk full rt scenes
There has to be dark environment with lots of reflective surfaces and light sources to really see the difference
to make it so you can do a scene with rull RT without fallbacks you need a lot more samples, and then its not about making it look much better but having the ability to cut away cubemaps when you get light just from having the lightsource where it is
At the cost of lots of computing power and dedicated hardware, so not that great of a trade-off
I mean that's what gpus do with rasterising currently
big chips dedicated for that
I'm more curious about how well nvidia can make the transition to multi chips when they have to
high-na euv halfs the reticle limit and currently big nvidia gpus are basically max die size chunks of silicon
also AMD licked 141 today but it seems a lot of people cashed in
Nah, I remember start of 3D accelerators
but dgpu is still the least important market for amd so it's getting the lowest priority
no one is anymore
amd is less a graphics company than nvidia is xD
AMD is also in CPU and embedded markets after all
even better get one of the AR glasses
idk about that
most of amds profit is from graphics
single 1440p360 monitor
yeah 360hz will do that
It wasn't since 22Q3
Datacenter and embedded it's where its at
and more importantly, most of nvidias profit is compute datacenter stuff
data center is amds biggest net profit and its growing
embedded is mostly from Casinos which is graphics imo
qualcomm or intel with the largest amount of GPU per individual device?
Xilinx is mostly FPGA
yeah embedded includes xilinx now
what
then you include mi300 being the fastet ramp to >2Bil they had and that is going to be even more data center revenue
Does Xilinx acquisition paid off, whoo boy, 2000% Y/Y growth in embedded
who has the largest gpu market share reguardless of device type
pretty sure its qualcomm now
yeah i would guess qualcomm
oh yeah easily with igpus
yea by a huge margin
nope
whats the apple vs andorid market share?
apple makes less than half the money
70/30 worldwide?

dafuq is this app???
