no even then it is quite bad
it's not toxic
but you can't really get it out of your body
since it accumulates somewhere
It doesn't get in your blood unless you have an exposed cut
It's too inert to be absorbed via digestion
gets in your lungs though
Yes and because it's soft and slick it doesn't do damage
And you will eventually cough it out
Not saying it's good for tou
But it isn't bad as long as it stays ptfe
mousefeet do look yummy π
I would never use ptfe cookware though
lol
Literally scientific fact
They use ptfe in surgery because your body ignores it and it doesn't react
I trust you not π
Trust science
prove me wrong
The second most common implant material for a reason
link me something
Only behind titanium
hi guys anyone using Artisan zero mousepad? is it possible to recommend to choose Xsoft or Soft? cant make a choice:(
https://taenk.dk/kemi/english/avoid-ptfe-your-dental-floss
there is a link to the studies
"The study compared fluorinated substances in the blood of 178 women with their consumption patterns such as eating habits and the use of dental floss. The result shows a correlation between flossing with PTFE and higher levels of fluorinated substances in their blood. The study also underlines that more data is needed to establish the connection."
thats just one random study
If you think breathing dust isn't getting ingested I dont know what to tell you
And none of that says ptfe is bad
No
You would be correct to say we have not YET found evidence that it is bad. That doesn't mean it's not bad either.
See
And it isn't bioavailable
The ptfe is being directly introduced to the bloodstream when flossing
Ha, from cuts? Lol
Yes
That isn't bioavailablily
Anything can be found in your blood if you put it in the blood
Lol
If you eat ptfe it will not absorb into your bloodstream
You think abrading ptfe or ptfe dust doesnt have nano-micrometer wide particles that pass the blood-brain barrier?

Again ptfe is inert
The literally use it in brain surgery
To support blood vessels
Oke bruv, believe what you must. Like said there is no evidence yet, but that is not fact that it doesn't do anything.
They literally use PTFE in brain surgery and you're worried about somehow it going from mouse feet into your brain
straw man
Facts are supported by evidence, that's what makes them facts
The fact is there is loads of evidence that ptfe is inert
And there is none that ptfe reacts negatively with the body.
if you understood what a fact is you wouldn't be touting it here
What is a fact to you then
Irrelevant to the question at hand. With that said I'm out. I see nothing to gain here. UHMWPE tape is a good alternative to ptfe skates tho, but its not without its issues.
Yeah lower wear but with higher friction
By your own statement, isn't it just as bad it have pe vs ptfe.
I'm not qualified enough to answer. Maybe. I'm not sure if there is any evidence of polyethylene being endocrine disruptor. There are some papers saying it might be. But it's much more abrasion resistant material than PTFE so the dust problem should be lessened. I can't find the biological human half-life for uhmwpe, so I can't compare the two. Perhaps it is as bad as PTFE on that front since both are highly resistant and inert substances. Microplastics, their breakage pattern and resulting particle size and health effects are another topic.
Thing is if you eat any foods made in a factory
You are ingesting PTFE and uhmw
PTFE is used in contact rated food lubricants
what do you play that that upgrade even makes sense though
Was about to say could also have gotten the 13900k instead of the 13900k (2023) but looking at the price they cost the same.
I guess he just wants to stay warm this winter
threadripper?
a cpu way better for the suggested workloads
Also going threadripper is expensive to start but will be much more performant with cpu rendering.
I can see the upgrade making sense, still it is rather expensive for the gains
if its for productivity more cost should easily be made up with the shorter times
^
It of course depends on the exact circumstances
times money
how much time is lost how much money do you have and so forth.
unless we look at single core benchmarks for productivity... a threadripper will probably easily be way ahead of intel
Gratz for the upgrade
Not saying there is no uplift just questiioning the middle ground of spending β¬600+ on an upgrade for productivity when there are much stronger gains to be had for more money.
Just seems like a weird middle ground with a significant power increase.
i did read
more curious why the old system was a 12700k and not older TR if its for production
threadripper
oh right xeon-w still exists
why not intel workstation then, they also had options and now have some more
just trying to understand the usecase
no one said that
.
its just a weird choice when you know you mainly do productive workloads
I assumed gaming since that makes the most sense, if its not for that I'm just wondering why not a workstation setup if its a workstation
its like using a lamborgini when you work for DHL and need to deliver 300 parcels a day
I'm not even saying its a bad purchase because I dont know what you do that's why I'm asking
because it seems like a not ideal choice to most cases
That being said a serious threadripper or xeon W is a lot more expensive and it depends on exactly how much money you have / rendering time.
Productivity cannot be generalized as it's often fairly specific.
That said It seems like a niche middle ground where the 14900k seems the best upgrade path.
well if hes not saying whats it for I assume it's just a troll anyway, there might be some case where it makes sense, which is why I'm asking
that's why literally my first comment was a question
Fair enough.
but seems more like a troll than a genuine thing at this point
no one shat on your purchase
how is asking a question shitting on it
if it makes sense its a good purchase, in most cases it would not be that is why I'm asking what the use is
but I'm not going to pretend that if you say you just put a 500$ bill on fire that I'd not call that stupid xD
I would not call it $ 500 as the 12700k still has resale value
no I meant as a case of literally doing that
if something is stupid I'm not sugarcoating it, if it has a use then I'm not shitting on it because it makes sense
idc if they wasted money or not. im just interested why a self admitted productivity setup uses a mainly gaming opriented CPU (after telling us thats WE dont look at productivity benchmarks)
my assumption is it was a gaming setup and its just repurposed now
or trolling
That itself is not surprising, as not all productivity workloads have enough time loss from using mainstream product to warrant the investment. Nor do productivity workloads always have to be professionally.
If rendering gives you an hour or two of downtime a week, cutting that in half for a certain amount of money may be worth it, going all in for a much more expensive upgrade would not be.
But yea circumstances would be good to hear here as it could be a good or bad upgrade depending on them.
wouldnt even take a full sentence to mention that though unlike being all smug about "hurr I knew youd say that"
literally why quin inquired and i got interested as well
Let's just say the way we phrased it came of a bit harsh. Then again he certainly was not giving us much.
Seems I share 2 other discords with him, posted the same everywhere, did not really engage with comments on either.
well it is as theres the xeon-w line
So 70% of PC market?
intels own workstation cpus
Which just sadly kinda sucks
yes not everything is cinebench, xeon-w is getting a beatdown but has usecases
agreed
dark rock pro 5 looks worse than dark rock pro 4
Is it better though?
yeah but not a lot
my rtx 4070 has crazy coil whine i just noticed
You forgot in your blood
whole bot situation has gotten so much worse on twitter
half my notifications are bots
delete press not working however showing press on AOE rgb
after pc restart and usb detach retach it worked
ok this is still not the right channel for troubleshooting it
however after restart it still didnt fix itself so it was a wooting issue
if people have this happen and search it i want ppl to know how to fix it thats why i wrote it
does th
does this confirm its a wooting issue @ashen spindle

Tech talk is for technological discussion, like idk, fans, GPUs and workstation CPUs like some peeps were talking just above
if its for people finding an issue then it makes sense for it to be in the channel where people post issues

--...
Why tf would you spend that much on a board
Especially one that is effectively a dead platform
Intel 15th gen is not going to slot into LGA1700
Indeed they won't, LGA 1851 is next
I. Remember good boards costing 80 bucks
It actually have a Debug display π
There were expensive though not as expensive boards back in those days too.
But yea prices have gone up a lot.
and the premium 7 segment display is kind of bs
Part of the price hike is people want more bling for a decent motherboard, vrm's have gotten beefier and signal integrety for ddr5 / pci-e4/5 is more expensive.
not to mention a price hike of the chipsets themselves.
Yeah there's lots of good looking mobos but that Debug display is on so few
Also what's peoples favourite ''ear tips'' to have on IEMs? π€
The only ear tips I can comfortably wear are foam ones, they just don't last that long and are very much a consumable.
Sitting down with Bill gates to see how AI can be also be used for something good!
I spend a LOT of time trying to make my videos as concise, polished and useful as possible for you - if you would like to support me on that mission then consider subscribing to the channel - you'd make my day π
For my tech hot takes: http://twitter.com/Mrwhose...
freaking bill gates....damn Arun!!
Very happy with my pixel 7a today
Every since android 14 my battery has been significantly better
that is just the norm battery ends up sucking on a version then gets better the next
am so sick of my poor battery life phone
I re flashed it too
loll
So it wasn't even a case of botched files
barely gets half days use per charge
its getting rather tedious, particularly given lightning cables tendencies to lose its connection from even very suble movements of eithet device during charging
i find foam sooo uncomfortable
but my ears are on the smaller side, may have something to do with it
oh well revenue down but with better node that will hopefully change
Might test some SpinFit Ear Tips but want to check if there's some other good options
im currently just using the ones that came with my fiio fh3 and theyre pretty comfortable
i have kiwiears cadenza too and the tips from that were kinda meh, but i had more from the fh3 that i put on it, was much more comfortable after
though i'll have to try some spinfits soon ish
What mouse is good for every game and you can do on it butterfly clicks and drag click for minecraft
...jeez
I hate to admit it, but I remember decent mobos being available for like...less than 100 of the local
my current mobo cost me 125 at the time
Asrock just released an ITX AM5 mobo
that isn't shit
shockingly impressive for 140 USD
https://www.newegg.com/asrock-620i-lightning-wifi/p/N82E16813162150
that's on par price wise with Gigabyte's usual token ITX mobo that really has no bells and whistles whatsoever
...not bad price wise
but dear god that looks ugly
oh crap I see
woah
IO on this guy ain't much
still more than enough for me
Was thinking of building an AM5 PC in the Fractal Terra (Jade) so would be nice if there's loads of features
a couple more usb 3's on there woulda been nice but worst case it can be added with a pcie 1x controller board
gnarly
I swear our rich ecosystem of various plug-in boards and devices is one of the very greastest things aboout the PC platform
100%
but...muh backpack sized PC :(
but the way things are going I can't help the market is heading towards the opposite direction lately
This is exactly the motherboard I have, it's fine, just beware it has a lot of usb-2 ports if you put hubs in there it could get messy.
Livemixer that is
not unentirely thanks to more "modern" pc owners
tbh, I think the demand just isn't there any more
now that you can get pretty much everything on a mobo
an add in card better than integrated will be a hard sell for most people
the only real add in cards I know of that get some use today are PCI-E slotted storage and wifi cards
pretty sure sound cards are dying a slow death
This is how it looks in my build (recently got a case to review and keep so I did)
nice
yeah even most pc builders these days build really "vanilla" rigs on average
by that I don't mean its not fast but rather not much or any "weird" additions
SFF is the only really interesting field of PC category to me
since...well
everyone is just making the same generic mid tower
having to play with undervolting, balancing cooling, cable managing, etc
all to get a much more dense system
actually interesting
Anybody here make a diy standing desk?
yeah, if the pc building market finally does croak like some certain predictions have we'll mostly have ourselves to blame over it really
...yep
then again
mainstream brands are starting to take ITX seriously
Beyond taking an existing frame and slapping a new block on it? No. That's pretty intense welding and engineering π
so that's exciting
I see fair enough
basically the manufacturers will just look at what 99% of people buys and puts together anyways and then make a copypasta of that formula but prebuild
more supply of SFX PSUs, more mainstream and common ITX cases
I mean...just the damn NR200
generic, solid entry level priced case
but ITX
more budget oriented mobos
low profile coolers getting attention
ID Cooling absolutely dominating that field
...other than not shipping to Canada
speaking of which my IS-67XT showed up
tbh if everyone do ends up building largely the same spec and manufacturers just makes it prebuild and ready there might even be some savings or at least evening out between console and pc
won't work for when people inevitably want something different
or specialised
it works fine for most people
but some of the dweebs with needs
like us
would be out in the cold
woah
there is immense sleeper build potential in that
π
Still it's kinda boring with black
sometimes there just ain't enough of connosieurs to carry a whole product category on our shoulders though
Louqe moment
though at current state writing this the leftfield market is still quite abundant
silverstone right?
they're still running their fire sale on Ghost and Raw cases

but working on new cases, so it is possible they're trying to refresh the lineup
liquidate old stock
Those 80mm fans will sound like angry bees lmao
How do the new Arctic P8 Max sound though?
also I can't help but find it amusing how fans smoller fans like 80mm or less are suddenly in vogue again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJQzufB1glY These are not the Max but
Still the best looking but not most versatile ITX case is imo. the Fractal Terra
Yeah
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Rm6Vf8gg94 It looks so nice
#fractaldesign #Noctua #asuspcdiy - Just when I thought Fractal Design couldn't get any more 'aesthetic' following the launch of the North chassis, they advance forward with pure ITX excellence, better known as the Terra!

01:40 - Terra Overview/Support

It's also very small to be a 4080
300 x 120 x 50mm ProArt vs 357.6 x 149.3 x 70.1mm Strix
Yeah that too
Yep it looks kinda nice

Ok was it a Silverstone case?
Ah that's right
Yeah lol
any chance to add seperate mouse clicks to affect wootility rgb?
just thinking itd be cool to click my mouse and have an effect come from the right hand side instead of whichever key was pressed
I like that
Why and how tf are the Decks speakers so so damn good???!!!
Even for stereo separation
Sounds like 3 channels
Left, right and center and it's so damn good sounding βΊοΈπ
So crisp and clear
that's what conventionally decent speakers sound like
But these are tiny ones inside a relatively small handheld
Yet they sound so so damn clear and detailed
That Terra had a weird harmonics issue. Gamers nexus covered it in their review
I have a question
did the wooting 2 HE have any minor changes compared to the one that released in 2021?
Im comparing the one I just recieved and the one i had for a couple years.
i noticed the keys sound a little different(not bad at all)
and they have some texture to them compared to my old one with is smooth.
ok so wootility calls my old one the wooting 2 he, but the new one is called wooting two he ARM
they added an ARM chip
thanks!
Do we know which arm?
the 14900K is an exceptional gaming cpu lmao. You need a 4090 at 1080p medium without DLSS SR RR or FG to make a bottleneck. People are just hating because it's popular to hate on Intel
What a weird idea. Looking at the thing that matters for you π

How dare the artist not consider the farmer's perspective.
and of course a 14900K will draw more power than an 8 core AMD that runs on a newer arhitecture. Derbauer showed you can limit the CPU to Intel's stock spec PL1/PL2 253w, 307A. That way it consumes 230 watts in R23.
it takes 5 seconds to do that and no this is not undervolting
M1 is an ARM cpu
and it can not really compete in everything with something like a 14900k or 7950X
it is
I had one myself
it ran quite hot but the performance was really good
it was faster in single core than my cpu back then(9900K)
Intel Meteor Lake Core Ultra processors spotted in Yoga Pro 7 ultra-light laptops Lenovo Yoga laptops become the first known products featuring the Core Ultra series to be listed by retailers.Β Lenovo Yoga PRO 7 (AMD Edition), Source: Lenovo This is certainly not the first product known to feature Intelβs new CPU series; however, this [β¦]
So damn expensive
imagine calling ur cpu core ultra
Pretty sure high end x86 mobile CPUs are better than it by now
well it depends which M1 he is talking about
there's also the M2s
and M3 is coming out soon
Basic M1
the Basic M1 is easy to beat
Which is rather unremarkable
its not a bad cpu but it is easy to beat
M3 I bet will be very unimpressive lel
I am salivating rn with the idea that Nuvia team are bringing Arm to Windows
That Snapdragon X Elite will be amazing
i don't care for ARM unless its a laptop and honestly Mac OS isn't that annoying to use to me anymore
so I'd go Mac regardless
especially for that battery life
i see you didnt read any of the previous conversation

yes because the entire discussion and questions before were to exactly figure out if some specific use case made the cpu upgrade worth it over going with a purpose developed productivity cpu
well depends on the workload
its the same for cpu core frequencies though its always a question of what workloads will you mainly run. and in a productivity scenario theres a secondary question of how much times does it save. this usually equates to more work = more money or you have more freetime if youre a freelancer as projects are done sooner
but all of this depends on quite a few factors which we asked about but got never told like what workload (and implicitly what software/settings)
alas we will never know and can only speculate with plausible scenarios
oh you even renamed yourself
no
They had the name omg_hai like few hours before
So they.. renamed themselves to renamemepls
and thats exactly why i didnt even know why they added to the convo
i should put omg_alumaze b4 halloween as a coping mechanism
I renamed them by accident, because they found it fucking hilarious to pick an invisible avatar.
ngl invisible avatar is only nice with invisible name but that's impossible to do
i kinda also miss the old tag naming system but it is what it is
Not possible anymore?
It used to be a thing
well the username system is changed and they basically patched all the good invisible names since like 2020
i used to be an invisible name till then
it got so bad that they forced you to change your name when you wanted to change pfp
abusing your shit
That's rich.
thanks for accusing me after mansen alreeady said they accidentally did it

πΏ

the fuck

Threatening physical violence against staff members is not a good way to start the day. Go touch some grass.
the things internet anonymity does to people
he must've lost that cpu argument pretty badly, if he threatens violence
idk why that even matters tbh, but i mentioned it as it probably does to him
it's not like the world revolves around his 14900K
gd32f303
wait he actually left
you can find it in the search

its an expensive space heater afterall.. i'd also feel shame
it's not really a space heater
if you lock it to its default power states
its more efficient than a 7950X
but who in reality does that
it takes 5 seconds
then its still expensive :p
π
not really
i'd say given that imo it's the best all round cpu you can buy right now it's pretty fairly priced
β¬638, suuure
the 7950X3D costs more
also expensive
the 7950X at launch was 700
Who needs a heater
just toss intel burn test on and fur mark and you've got the perfect heater
7950X has 16 cores
14900 has 8 cores and 16 "cores"
or flash the 1000w bios to a 4090
dont start with this
Games now use Ecores too, just because they are weaker doesn't mean they are slow or useless
But it's true
If you have to disable E-cores to achieve more FPS in games there's something wrong, innit?
you don't need to
that's old info
that was when games were still coping with the big little design
now disabling ecores sometimes lowers fps
there is that too yes
the 7950X3D shows that the most
if the game isn't included in the xbox game bar 3d list or w/e its called, it will get outperformed by even a 7600X sometimes
all of these do it all cpus are so meh
the 7950X3D atleast is 8+8, the 7900X3D legit does not deserve to exist
sometimes its slower than a 5800X3D in games because of the cores lmao
if you're gonna act like this, then the only real 8+ core cpus for you are the 10900K and Intel's X99/299 lineup
mmx200 seem nice so far
Hm, what?
If they actually will, that will be very very exciting
The event is today right
wait, apple and gaming? well.. if they manage to pull that off i am swtiching to mac
It doesn't make any sense to ignore gaming
Mac is a very big marketshare and devs 100% want to release games there
Just.. well.. Apple silicon isn't the best and you have to I imagine nearly completely rewrite games to play well with Mac, not worth it
slaps the monitor stand for 1k
pretty sure that bad boy disagrees
i just want the OS. no need for their hardware
And yet they've managed to do so for about two decades π
Well, MoltenVK works
And Valve isn't really keen on supporting gaming on macs, given the delay in new Steam client release and ditching support for CS2 for macs
Maybe Apple wants something akin to mobile ecosystem on macs, so they'd control it better
They are trying their best to make gaming work
When they do, I'll be considering Mac then over Windows
lets see if they can release a good gpu first
Discrete one? The costs will be massive lol
They should collab with Intel for dGPU tech
I imagine Intel would be relatively cheap for them
or make the integrated one good
If they tried they best they'd work on implementing DirectX/Vulkan and not rely on Metal
Or AMD, AMD has done dGPUs for them before
AMD is known to be really cheap and friendly with Sony, Microsoft, etc
Hmm, 90$ isn't a bad deal
I mean look at how metal was shown off
depending on how it sounds
salnotes zeros are stupid cheap
Apple have yet to actually invest in gaming properly. That did not change my mind in the slightest
yea obv
Tbf Mac could be a serious problem for Microsoft if Apple starts taking gaming seriously
But then again Apple lost Nuvia so Apple silicon will prolly go to shit so they are useless long term

not even
Maybe
But with current state of gaming they'd invest a lot to make games compatible with macOS
A lot of games just don't support it, and it's not quite that easy as with Linux, MoltenVK isn't as good, let alone Wine/Crossover
One can dream...
apple just doesn't have enough horsepower atm
and if they release a dedicated gaming system it will essentially be a console like thing
And they prolly won't ever
Apple could go Nintendo route, aiming for more casual player base, they have plenty of horsepower for that
they like mobile gaming
Oryon looks incredibly powerful
Could be a really big breakthrough on the mobile performance front for Android
Uh, right
I hope this fails and Oryon sees release
Lawsuit wonβt be done by the time itβs released and release is later half of 2024 so itβs competing against other stuff than they compare to now
Not much will release by 2025 though
M3 will, which we expect to be mediocre
Zen 5 which so far sounds like a +20% or so IPC uplift, pretty good but Nuvia seems to have it beat from the benchmarks Qualcomm provided
Arrowlake prolly will release, which again is prolly going to be ass
Battlemage? Might be integrated into iGPUs in mobile but I have little faith in them competing seriously
RDNA4 tbf could be interesting for mobile iGPU market
What numbers did you look at to think it has zen5 and ARL beat
Qualcomm's own numbers they released
Intel may stir a bit in the GPU market, especially if they'll aim for low/mid-end market
I have heavy doubts Arrowlake or Zen 5 will compete with this at ultrabook level
Battlemage or RDNA4 isn't touching that either at ultrabook levels
We meme about arrow lake because of the limited performance increase, not because its still so power hungry
And yes the gpu suite to test was 3dmark wildlife?
Again, I think that Snapdragon X Elite will be a major shakeup in the ultrabook market
Neither Intel nor AMD are ready for that thing
Lol
Imma wait for independent benchmarks, not press releases
Gaming laptops and desktops will be just fine, that's not what Qualcomm are aiming at, methinks
But tablets, ultrabooks are getting pretty powerful
This thing comes out when ARL is a thing and MTL likes Matches it in gpu already
AMD is ready for a shakeup of their own in fact
Strix Halo imo will be a big release
Been waiting for a product like Strix Halo for YEARS
And it's finally going to see the light of day next year, very big pogs
ARL we literally know is going to be shit
Top performance is not an increase, doesnβt mean it canβt be super power efficient or similar
Eh, might be
But I think Snapdragon X Elite at low power levels will be unbeaten next year in mobile market
Intel in general does seem a bit clueless, not sure what they are good at anymore
Seems they are focusing on chipmaking fabs nowadays rather than releasing good cores
Servers Epyc are just better, Threadripper rips through Xeons, AMD sort of makes Intel consumer stacks look silly for the amount of money Intel wants for them
Mobile Intel I think is a bit better for now? More adoption for Intel there
I still don't understand why is Snapdragon X Elite
Windows on ARM is still wacky at best, and legacy app support, the very thing why Windows is so popular, is lacking heavily
Well Qualcomm is prolly working with Microsoft closely for improvements
Man you are the epitome of βwhy arenβt the artists fixing the bugs in my game and make more skins instead???β but for intel
Microsoft tends to work with Intel/Nvidia/AMD to improve the OS experience for new features
Qualcomm could be the new big 4th player
That's cool and all, but without something like Rosetta 2 for Apple, Windows on ARM may end like Windows Phone
Why do they need rosetta 2?
It runs natively, no?
Or is there some sort of emulation/translation layer there
...
Overwhelmingly large share of apps on Windows are x86 targeted
That's why Windows 10/11 have WoW64, to run x86 apps on x64 OS
And with swap to ARM...
Can't be much worse than going from 32bit to 64bit
Oh, it will be much worse
With 32 -> 64 bit it's more or less memory mapping
With 64bit -> ARM it's whole new architecture
Indeed, but I think Windows could do something there
If they are to build whole ecosystem from the ground why just not swap to Apple, who already has it all established?
Who needs to swap to apple?
gotta love having system32 containing 64bit images and syswow64 containing 32bit images

arm cpu companies seem pretty interested to get a share of the laptop market
options for those will be windows and linux
companies caring about putting Linux on their laptops?? nah that wont happen ....
Well, Dell already did on some of their laptops I guess
except it already is a thing for every big laptop brand?
every
no?
theres always windows/linux(usually ubuntu) and no os
yeah one or 2 models maybe
i can only speak from the distributor side as i had to always watch out to order windows models
but yeah.. doesnt matter much as you can install linux pretty easily
Dell, Lenovo, Hauwei... they are all I know who have Linux on some models
freedos option is always fun
that the.. we cant have it boot into nothing option
stop taking things so literally :p
what world would we be in if it would be clearly labelled
smh
youre right
but yeah idk how it is in their own stores/online stores but they all definitely manufacture those 3 flavors or win/linux/nos
not having to pay for windows is nice, but at oem level it doesnt make a huge difference
well i was happy to buy nos devices for easier setup and the fact i dont get some dumb home or pro license we wouldnt have used
since it was usually deployed with an mak license
I mean the ones that matter are dell, hp and lenovo
all of them will give you basically any device with linux if you want it
i dont actually think they have a massive incentive to push windows besides customers want it
well they have to make sure their machines are windows compatible
by having tpm etc
whatever else ms asks for
and windows will be the most popular option
yes but i dont think they get paid to sell windows over linux or nos
ig also makes it easier for them to have their tools bloatware preinstalled
would assume so
AMD Pluton
but idk
oh yeah their tools are usually all win only
HP has a lot of their drivers for Linux too strangely enough
But not that bloatware apps they include with laptops
drivers are not the issue
their drivers or the suppliers they buy stuff from that have linux drivers anyway
like realtek
they rarely have custom drivers
the only HP Drivers for Linux I know of are their printer drivers...
I meant tools, not drivers, shucks
Hi @wheat plume
nice
FUCKING HATE FIXING THE DAMN FILE FOR AMD GPUS!!!
gimme a fucking Entry ID for the memory, AMD! DAMN IT!
Ah fuck off Apple event is at 2AM?
I'm not going to ruin my mental health by staying up just for some corporate shilling and how they "really really take environment seriously"
incorrect
stay up dingus
Fuck off
no
you forgot the big announcement about stagnating "innovations"

1:00 at night
They could make it at 10:00 PT, so it'd be 17:00 CET
Apple doesn't give a fuck bout Europe
nah people got stuff to do at 17
mainly because they're mad about the EU and how they fuck Apple in the ass currently
USB-C scary
But it'd make a great presentation for Halloween
On another note, I fuckin love YouTube so much
I had to click the damn "never show me again" button on the Shorts shelf like 3 times already today for them to be like "k, no shorts for 30 days" to then show them again as I scroll down
What a shite site
gamer time
Late event lol. I still consider it to be held at 02:00 even though itβs 01:00 for me. Because winter time was adjusted last night or the one before
i have a real shocker
obv a hint
o I thought the more lights the better
Right Click > uBlock Block Element > Create π
Gotta get that jackpot.
They comparing this to full power mobile chips
Not best in class ones, but pretty damn high end ones
Ngl looks pretty damn nice
Also really good to know that the wattage scaling is pretty damn good, from 23 - 80W
damn who cares about mobile cpus
hm lets see how m3 scores. shouldnt be too long until it gets tested
lol
Which is all it will ever be
M3 won't reinvent the wheel or propel Apple forwards in any way
M1 was a one-off and I bet Apple will be soon quite unhappy to find themselves in a position where they can't improve the design unlike their competitors

Hardware news this week focuses heavily on the CPU industry, where multiple companies are pushing major Arm-based CPU products. That includes not only the usual server and enterprise suspects, but also a resurgence in Windows-compatible Arm CPUs for consumer laptops. NVIDIA and AMD ar...
hope windows for arm gains traction because i really would like an arm computer sometime lol
in 10years maybe
why though, what do you think it would do better
Power efficiency
Arm so far has been so much more power efficient than anything x86
arm is not better or worse in anything than x86
Keep coping
as if you would know what difference ISA makes anyway
im just curious of how well it would perform tbh
thats fair
Oof
Good but.. not as good as expected
But that's just the 23W model so, large gains are expected with 80W model and also Windows 11 patches for Arm optimization

is that control
running through woa
beating current/last gen intel
watt for watt
thats gpu bound so ofc any intel igpu before meteor lake sucks
What's a woa
windows on arm
yes it's good but not that surprising
Ah, why the acronym
cause it is long
I can't read chinese but I assume that's like 1080p medium or something
Pretty damn good result all things considered, 60FPS is very playable
Ah, low
Graphical fidelity becomes tolerable at medium, so it makes little sense to test at low
Bit biased considering it's from Windows central
Didnt they make a review about the Deck calling it bad cause it didnt have Windows on it?
or was that some other website?
Weβre still over half a year away from that thing launching so we will see how good it really is in due time
oh yeah....it was this article LOL
https://www.notebookcheck.net/MINISFORUM-V3-AMD-Tablet-New-Microsoft-Surface-Pro-9-competitor-detailed-in-new-teaser-video.763529.0.html
"1x USB Type-C (DisplayPort In)"
Excuse me what?
In???
Yeah so you can use it as monitor
yea but are they actually gonna do that???
Thatβs why itβs a 3 in 1
and will you be able to do touch?
omfh, a surface competitor from a well known brand, hell yeah
I would assume itβs just an external display donβt think with touch but would be nice
i mean weve had a bunch of those just to make you aware and they were all shit so far
switch input, steamdeck input..
im aware how awesome it would be yes
.....what you mean this wont have touch?
for the external monitor mode
oh, for using it as a display, nvm yeah
WTF
UHS-ii sd card!!!
im buying it instantly
both of my serious cameras have uhs ii, itll be nice to be able to offload the insane burst rates i get from my olympus, and the gigantic vids from my sony
It looks really cool
I wonder if there'll be NOS version
i wonder what the price would be
Wonder if hawk point is just a rename or does get any upgrades, could be the spiritual successor to Van Gogh lol
was more thinking because van gogh was surface product now this is a surface competitor product xD
yeah at least till we get bigger changes in uArch that scales differently and all after Z5
even then
we likely are just gonna see pretty much the same chip for the steam deck desktop unit
Or the Z series becomes a bigger thing and then gets more tuning for that segment
I could see one cut down one more premium separate sku
So apparently right now for americans, or canadians as well idk, cause BestBuy region blocks all places than U.S to check their website
399$ for a 55" miniled 4K TV with 120Hz refresh
That is pretty damn great
i still doubt it wouldnt be a cut down strix halo instead for example
how many zones and what brightness
Google it?
I can't even access the website
Damn american region blocks
I mean it depends how their APU segmentation goes and how future IO dies work, if it starts making sense to not go monolithic in lower parts too
ye
This is actually a pretty insane TV for 400$
but id still suspect z series will remain cut down of some other product line considering its supposed to be the cheaper gamer variant
works from Germany lol
Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, 144Hz VRR supported which is, insane, quantum dot, Dolby Atmos, Freesync premium pro
Wtf is HLG
Something with HDR, never heard of it
or not live
its just a different format
Rtings says that it has only 128 dimming zones
similar to dolby vision but not proprietary
Hm strange I can access it
Ah so it's the baltic region blocks then
Haha could be
Although why tf I would have a region block when bestbuy afaik is fat man land only is.. weird
i mean its old
2 years old it seems, yes
But that's completely fine since it's a miniled and it's only 399 lel
damn my lg oled costs more now then i paid 2 yo
ye i guess they just dont get cheaper
Those don't change at all though
Samsung has been on AMOLED2x for a long time
Ew, battery life killing
thats a different thing
openai devday is in a week--11/6 at 10 am
we have some great new stuff for you!
will be livestreamed on http://openai.com

Exciting
OpenAI is always cooking
this is such a nice way to have all your consoles and audio things setup <3
he also claims hes not an audiophile yet his AMP next to the Switch dock was 900 dollars ....
The new ORA desktop speakers from Kanto have a bunch of nice features, but in particular they are magnetically shielded, which means that they can be placed next to a CRT without creating any "buzzing" sounds. So in this video we'll test them out and see how they will work in an ultimate retro gaming setup.

I believe Mac sales were down 40% in the first quarter of 2023. Hope m3 really is a step up from m2, lol
I hope Apple fails
It'd be funny for a company I have 0 investment in to just go bankrupt
From richest to zilch
Unemployment would be sad though
I mean youβve had big companies fall before, definitely a possibility for them to fall sometime. But probably not anytime soon
Apple will only ever get richer
Will see how it goes
yeah m3 was likely the announcement since they first mentioned todays event
but that wont make or break the company, the pivot to XR could be a important moment though
XR?
extended reality
I doubt XR will do much
Pricing is massive
And they are more leaning towards consumer side rather than business
let vex know that q3 is xr and is $500
I'm not too up to date on radar tech but that sounds insane
Nothing on the range though, that thing can't be reliable more than idk, a meter away
first we wait for someone to reproduce it as always
Is that peer reviewed?
"just subtract the noise" is a on paper solution to emf
If they have invented a 100ghz silicon bandpass that is cheap, that's Noble prize level
...
WHAT IS APPLE DOING?
OH ARM CHIPS IN LAPTOPS
as long as PCs run on x86 they're most likely right
correct
but my bedtime is far from now
and mommy hasn't said otherwise yet
Mommy says kick yourself in the head and go to sleep

They are Canadian
just because the flag is red and white doesn't make it canada vex

Well I tend to call it "Better America"

Which is quite literally a fact
everywhere is a bettre america
No but it's literally America, but better
and so is every other country
i speak arizonian

Question/Riddle for all y'all:
Which filesystem should I use for external SSD, given I want to hold potentially sensitive data for a few days, and to be able to connect it to PC and Android phone?
I do have a backup, but I'm going back home for a few days, and it's family stuff, photos, that kinda files, I want to copy to my parents
ext4 is out, because Android says it doesn't support it on external drives
exFAT also out, because some files were corrupted last time I wanted to copy them (disk is fine tho, works with no issues with ext4), fine for smaller USB sticks, for 1TB disk not so much
Why not just FAT with one of those Samsung T8s or whatever they are
They just released new ones
fat32?
For.. data security I guess?
Nintendo Switch likes ntfs methinks
This thing came out recently
Encryption is the best protection there is
FAT32 is no go for >4GB files
And there's a lot of videos there
It wouldn't be an issue overall
But mom wants to have some photos on her tablet
Exfat then?
Thing is exFAT gives up after 100GB copied or so with my disk
There's no issue when formatted to ext4 though
Just Raid0
Btrfs?
Xfs?
Or.. Reiserfs?
I assume by pc you mean windows. And that really limits your options
By PC I mean Linux, it's my parents' laptop with Debian slapped on it
Ah! Hm
Maybe f2fs? Seems like Android likes it
What's erofs
ext2/3/4, filesystem Linux uses
And Android is a-ok with it on internal partitions, but it doesn't accept it as an external drive
I don't see why NTFS or exFAT are a bad choice
For data security you can just encrypt, obviously
NTFS is a no-go, because I don't use Windows on any PC, nor Android supports it
About exFAT #πβtech message
Some sources do say ntfs is supported
I saw that, and I'm unsure if your disk is just faulty or you didn't try enough
But yeah.. Exfat is the only sure option.
I've used it today with exfat partition on it, nearly full to a brim, worked flawlessly
If so, Imma just go with ext4 and copy files in portions with some exfat USB stick
Can you use 2 partitions
Never mention cloud storage near me again
One partition that android likes, 1 partition that Linux likes
EMBRACE ONEDRIVE
NoOoOOO
The only cloud storage I will embrace is NextCloud
Hosted on my own drives and server
Locked up behind tailscale
Exfat. And do aan integrity check when it's all written and synced
And remounted
And ship the integrity checks via a different medium
But it just gives up
I rsync like 100GB to it and it just flatlines to 2KB/s or so
Maybe I'll try to full format it and not only quick
I love next cloud too
tbh at this point I'd rather just lose my files then get bombarded with more fucking cloud and subscription services
man im in quite a dilemma right now
trying to figure out what parts to get for my new pc since my old one broke
4090 kekw
and i dont know which one of these are worth more bang for my buck
if only i were that rich xd
just a bit of trollin, it is mega expensive
both 6750 xt? cant see the models on the left
no left one looks like something else
oh the left one is a 6800 and the right one is a 6750xt
oh 6800 if its just 30$ difference
yea but i dont know if vram or clock frequency is more important
its an all around better card
well i was thinking about that but id miss like 20$ if id chose that one
because im in β¬
it's about 10-20% better for 5% more money
so the price difference is a bit more
oops
the 6800 is around β¬ 449,00
so its more like 70β¬ for me
it will be better for longer bc it has more vram so if you want new titles that will make it a better option
Just get the 7800XT
that just doesnt make sense if you look at the prices
yea i think imma buy the 6800
it would barely fit my budget of 1000β¬ so thats nice
imma wait for black friday tho incase any better deals pop up
Well 6000 series gets AMFM but not hypr-rx
Kinda missing out on features in exchange for value
paying 100$ more for the option to have one tick isntead of multiple settings is not a good value lol
Not what I said
Now that's a toaster
You lose the tick for value
Hypr-rx is cool but idk if it means enough for a budget shopper
hypr rx is basically just a combination of existing things you can already use, you dont really lose out on something
You do
You cant run any of the hypr rx features together manually
Pick one, not all of them
Oh and also, anti-lag+
Big feature on Radeon 7000 series
hey guys i'm new here and i have a quick question about keybinding, can I in any way change the key bindings of the shift key? ex. if i press shift and 1 i get !, can i change it to get a different special character? Thanks π
the OS handles that so you'd need to change how the OS interprets a key or use a macro for that
I'll look in to it, thank you π
wat
good morning internet explorer
most likely yes, M3 reveal
Do I hear hardware rt on Mac
I'm just waiting for them to have BS slides that show it beating a 4090 at 5 watt
Apple reinvented rebar?
Sounds the same
Far from
Rebar is just sell ssd to GPU direct interfacing, this is different, this is about programs allocating GPU cache
no encode just a decoder?
M3% IPC
If they are just 20% better... Snapdragon has them beat
...is this the first time Apple has ever referred to their computers as PCs???
oh yeah
MTL of apple, no cpu changes, decent gpu ugprades?
wont having no encoding be a problem for video creators?
They managed to disappoint me lol
There better be something for gaming
let the apple hyperboly bs begin
Rosetta 3 or something
"the fastest iphone we ever made" well no duh dipshits its the newest one
you say that, but rocket lake was a thing too and that was a regression
ikr
Isn't 128 gigs of RAM... not that much?
well did they do an apple keynote about how it was faster

1TB of RAM is a thing for workstations
but yeah rocket lake was kind of an anomaly
Well itβs also vram
