Do you know where I could get a battery for Wacom CTH490?
I'm not really into getting some random one from AliExpress ;-;
Forgot that am3 supported ddr2.
In general starting with am4 amd decided to be a bit later adopting the new memory standard but go all in on the transition.
AMD didn't design AM4 CPUs to be AM3 compatible
Extra pins are not a cosmetic thing either, not like AM5 only has extra pins for ddr5
Tgey had to move the pins around for ddr4 which is why no ddr3 compatibility
That's why intel was able to do it as it was a new socket that did both
i guess at wacom directly :D
I will add that AMD did produce excavator cpu's on am4 though. I cannot categorically exclude older zen cores being ported to AM5. Does seem unlikely though.
Older cpus on newer socket is easier as you just have more pins and don’t use them all
I guess they don't sell batteries for 9 year old tablet anymore
But I found some "good" replacement in a local shop, Imma get it later today
Excavator was done for cheap apus because they needed to fulfill contracts and certain markets
They weren't all apus
I don't think any were apu
They were nonapu FM 2 converted to am4
excavator could also very well be part of a test platform for the new socket, zen not being ready yet am4 being in the works, would not surprise me if the same has been true with am5 and older cpu's adapter for it and it's chipset.
AMD is always one behind with APUs though
So pretty normal for excavator APu when ryzen is released
Uhhh... So while scouring for a battery I just bought an used CTH-470, looking like new, still with foil
For $3
guh
I wonder are these going to be DOA with Qualcomms Elite and Strix Halo
No since QC and halo are later and then arrow lake is out
Elite is coming out vs M3, ARL and strix, not in January or anything
Any clue at all when's Strix Halo coming out?
H2
Idk
40CUs prolly occupy quite a bit of space on AM5
Microsoft defo prolly has a market in smartphones
I wish that LG didn't leave the market though
LG's design team were so innovative
Would still buy an rock an LG Velvet if not for Sony
I had a look at the v30 or whatever, but I was swayed elsewhere because of their software support history.. It wasn't great
what really irks me about sony phones is their dumpster tier long term support
ngl i havent cared for that too much i like the features it offers (for my needs/wants) amd that is more than enough to make up for it
also love the design of their last few phones being close to what iphone 5 once was
I applaud sony phones for still including micro-sd, just the rest of their features / choices don't appeal to me.
nice sharp edges
that and the headphone jack, shutter button and this sweet sweet sony camera pro app
🤤
but once its cut off from further software/security updates, then what
do you have to root
i have rooted all my sony phones day 1
Exactly why they are amazing
still use my xz premium to this day
Sony was also the first to go with a glass back on a smartphone, at the time I thought it was a one-off mistake, now everyone jumped off that cliff
I never had one but my I have seen so many broken back panels.
am currently on the fence whether I should switch phone now or gamble on my current one surviving another year
i have seen a lot too but personally never broke one
same for display
i have no idea how people do it
I have never broken a display, I did manage to disconnect a display ribbon once
my mom's phone fell recently and the screen broke while keeping the glass in tact, that is quite a rare one.
5 v looks decent but some frustrating omissions like no adaptive refresh rate on the display
i even dropped my s10+ on concrete, tiled floors and stuff. other than a dinged up frame its all fine
oh and i had to peel the factory screen protector after one fall on concrete due to sliding
my xz premium once saved my thigh from a box cutter accident at my old job
also took out the screen protector from la factory
Oh I did break a display once but that one was unavoidable, fell when cycling and the phone got crushed between my leg and the steer.
that whole phone was bent and yea the screen broke too.
ok i can see that
had a few instances of smeshed glass/display in the past
but most of my old jobs customers said like "oh it fell at home from a table" or "it fell on the sidewalk when getting in/out of the car"
been a long time since now
Going back to the back panel I see little advantage to a glass back over well implemented PC back
my current phone has a tiny crack in the corner of the glass back
no idea what caused that
The worst part of a damaged glass back-panel is even when the replacement is cheap, replacing broken glass is not a great prospect.
i have a very minor scratch (takes minutes with bright light to find the reflection defect) on my screen no idea why
my phone's screen itself always seem to get minor scratches over the years, just seems to be a fact of life.
Still prefer them naked over using a screen protector despite that though.
same
i usually use the factory protector till it needs removal
don't have either screen protector or case on my phone
so i assume you all removed the factory protectors
I use a sleeve and yes I remove the factory plastic wrapper.
not plastic wrapper
and yeah thing has picked up its fair share of surface scratches over the years
most if not all phones these days have a near seamless factory protector
if so then I haven't removed it
I have never had a glass screen-protect on my phone from the factory.
its plastic
its just like it came out of the box
usually you can spot a very faint step near the earpiece
if it's plastic then it's gone, that one seriously hurt the feel of the phone.
wouldn't putting a plastic layer on the screen make it scratch easier
yesnt
Also consider this:
I am still on my third smartphone
which one
Mine were as follows:
Samsung Galaxy note 3
ZTE Axon 7
Poco X3 Pro
Yes I was late to the game
so yeah poco comes with preinstalled protector
ye ol nokia e71
i dont see how this is related at all
It felt like shit to use so I removed it probably within a day or so.
If I use a screen protector I would really only use a glass one, but those make the edges of the phone less smooth still.
I probably had about a dozen or so dumbphones over the course of the 00s too
During the 2000's I had two different nokia's between 2003 and 2013
quite a few brands and models
with 2g/3g I had nokia, sony ericsson, motorola, lg, nec, mitsubishi, siemens
you only really see sony and motorola still kicking in the segment now
Didn't know about nec or mitsubishi phones.
nec made some weird 3G phones in the early 00s
had one of the earliest ones
first gen 3G devices were kinda bulky
so easy picking out stuff from that era, that curvy silver plastic shell with transluscent colored plastic accents

but why
Not much pressure on that air, if everywhere is open.
Also imagine the dust.
s3xy
Is that better than superlight xgpro?
https://youtu.be/b_E4ekY_hNc Video of it
Integrating a monitor into a PC case has been done before but the Hyte Y70 finally does it right with an ultra high resolution touch screen, an intuitive interface and so many options. But this early in the development cycle, what are the limitations and is this really the best screen on a gaming PC?
Check out the Hyte Y70 Touch - https://hyte...
am not sure what purpose that display serves
do people actually stare at their computer cases
You people never go to LANs.
It's all about looking good and showing off your particular brand of nerd.
but then am one of those people who has the pc case on the floor to the left so even if there was a window on it I wouldn't see it

If you do go to a lan, would you take such a case with your or choose something more portable?
Just stuff an SFX into my backpack
I wouldn't really have a choice but to bring what I got
but yeah its not exactly a lan friendly case
no extra lan setup?
suppose I could bring my 7 year old and kind of dying gaming laptop
good lans should already have pcs
I would not consider those "Good" just a different kind of event.
this
Not been to any lan (though we did run some older multiplayer titles on the pc's at work as a lan a few times, years ago).
Just a smaller more informal event is not worse than a larger event with pc's ready to be used.
LAN sized PCs were much more doable pre 3000 series nVidia.
Everything just grew to an insanse size, and ITX sized GPUs vanished
If it's a friendly gathering, 5 years or so back I would just pop my gaming laptop into my backpack
Otherwise there are nowadays lan places to rent PCs
Can also pop an SFX PC, portable display, keyboard and mouse into a backpack lol
If I were to go to a lan, assuming the game is not too terrible to run, I would probably use my steam deck.
Who needs a lan anyways, friends are overrated
Haven't been in a friendly gathering for like 4 years now
That is mostly why I don't go to Lan's imagine having friends...
I did a test in my 18s and 19s, can I actually socialize
Forced myself to do parties and shit
I believe there are ITX sized 4060Tis floating around
under 200mm in length, dual slot
I never forced myself, drawback is that while I can talk to people just fine. I really struggle on actually moving past an in the moment conversiation.
would also add that current gen AMD cards are
...not actually that absurd and will fit in a majority of ITX cases rn
at least reference models
We are similar in that sense then
I just kinda forced myself cause it's weird not to socialize lol, people tend to look at you a specific way
But honestly it's too much effort
Talking to people and bothering with their bullshit is just too exhausting
What
Not wrong lol
It's the same mouse with just a few minor upgrades, how could it possibly be worse
Though that mouse's housing is junk
Anything with that hive core design just collects junk and feels awful
I too am curious why it'd be worse than the old one
Last I checked it has virtually no improvements, while being a fuck ton more expensive
The new switches are not well regarded
it has usb-c, that's all I know
They also fucked up the glide design apparently
The new one is much worse than the last one
It's literally a worse mouse, for more
Logi fucked up badly with that one
Msrp is $10 more, usb c rather than micro for charging, 2khz, and the switches are the same
wonder if the same will happen to regular gpw
Ain't that discontinued in favor of Superlight, which is now on its second iteration?
if so then ugh
The skates are very trash
There are better brands to pick from anyways
I like the new indie/artisan uprising, lots of nice choices
Wooting should do one but eh, this is an innovation company and mouses aren't innovative
It's dumb that they changed them so slightly, but the differences are immeasurable on the actual use
so many of them are just g pro copies though
I would say you could in theory innovate by replacing buttons with something touch
Bad copies with worse shapes
But I remembered that this exists
And this is the shittiest thing I have ever tested
Absolute trash
Apple's touch mouse
We need an absolute mouse
Insane latency, doesn't register clicks, is uncomfortable af
Touch isn't ready for mouse market yet
Someone needs to work with wacom and make a wacom pen that is the shape of a mouse
I rather like the specs of gpw, shame to see it go
gonna have to go hunting again when my current one croaks
They are still around and good mouse you know?
Just keep using that model lol
Mouse market has virtually no improvements since ages ago
well if its discontinued I can't get a new one when it dies
Unlike keyboards which weirdly are actually progressing
Can still get them brand new though
Ah some eshop here is selling a refurb GPW for 50 euros
one of the main reasons I got wooting was because they actually had some innovation going with their stuff
and didn't really cost me more than the best the competition could offer
I'd like a wooting mouse just for the wootility integration, but I can see why its not a priority
A wacom pen mouse would be so incredibly cheap, literally 1 chip and it is microscopic
Purely the price of switches and housing
But yea if you had to design a whole drawing tablet that would be rough
I don't really tbf get how you could even improve on a mouse
Like, Osu comes to mind how people prefer drawing tablets over mouses lol, cause they are faster somehow
Handheld minitablet?
software
That just wouldn't work lol
Kinda like the ''Magic Trackpad'' though
Gon give that query to Bing's image generator to see what would a mockup look like
AI is pretty nice at generating cool concepts
I've never seen top osu players use a magic trackpad lel
Wtf is it though
It's just a laptop's trackpad.. detached?
That's far worse than a drawing tablet though lol
Apple's Magic Trackpad?
apple trackpad is a multitouch gesture trackpad
Like a normal trackpad?
That is literally just worse than a mouse though
Yeah that looks.. off
depends tbh, for general os navigation the trackpad gestures were extremely convenient
I rarely used a mouse at all with my mbp
only time I felt I needed it was for precision editing in softwares
Yea there's still no direct competitor, Logitech just released the casa touch just weeks ago and only in a bundle with other bs
The gestures on the Magic Trackpad just works well
its very consistent yes
https://www.twelvesouth.com/products/magicbridge There's also this
Lol the copilot is so shit
Windows sure loves to bloat the edge browser and their OS
Windows precision is better imo
This isn't a bad mockup you know
microsoft never learns when it comes to browsers it would seem
Fully customizable, highly integrated with multitasking
Lower part is a drawing tablet screen for click-to-point
Upper is a normal mouse
Not sure why the mouse has 4 keys though
What options are there for Windows Trackpads that are actually good?
member when some mice didn't have a scrollwheel but rather a third regular button
Like, I kinda like this lol
Combination of a mouse and touch screen/drawing tablet/trackpad
I wonder if that would make any sense
Surface, casa touch, anything glass top precision
I'd be willing to bet somebody attempted it in the 90s
Speaking of the 90s
Straight out of retro
How tf can you make such a bulky design actually usable though
if there was a time for every weird niche peripheral to see light of day, it was in those wacky 90s days of computing
shame they didn't quite have the technology to fulfill their visions
Idk man I can't think of an evolution of mouse design that isn't eye tracking controls basically
https://www.tapwithus.com/product/tap-strap-2/ How about the Tap Strap 😆
Which just will be AR anyways
I heard these sorts of things found some niches in music industry
Not much though lol, but some musicians do use them
I use a random generic external one on my desktop and it works fine, but the coating isn't great
curious how you'd utilize it for music
You bind it to volume, timbre, tone, etc and move specific fingers to get different sounds
Andrew Scheps, industry legend, apparently does use them
oh so it can send out an "analog" control signal apart from the digital for typing then
guess that could have some interesting potential
Indeed, I was watching a podcast with Scheps lol and he told his experience with them
Said that they are weirdly really cool and useful
yes musicians are suckers for any kind of weird expressive control
Tbf Scheps is a bit retro so weird that he actually liked them
things that do shit with hand gestures tend to hit home with most demographics, even the ones that typically dislike buttons, knobs etc
Hmm, this is actually looking weirdly nice
And AI somehow read my mind and came up with this
I was thinking, what if it's in theory just a mouse, and the drawing display is rollable
The technology is here now to "roll back" the display if you don't need it
Folding wouldn't work, has to be rollable
I really want to know why this tech never came to the market https://www.theverge.com/2021/1/12/22226532/lgs-rollable-phone-launch-release-date-ces-2021
Oppo cancelled theirs, LG canned the mobile division
I've sometimes thought about if mouse buttons doubled as touchpads and it would for instance allow you to bring up a cursor for navigating and clicking around on GUI elements in your game
Samsung has patents, Apple has patents
while your main mouse control is still for aiming
https://9to5google.com/2023/10/24/motorola-adaptive-display-concept-wrist-foldable/ Motorola might make something too?
problem is not only the screen needs to be rollable
the entire fucking thing has to be
including the battery and pcb
Mm, why?
My LG OLED TV is hella thin, so I imagine the PCB is somewhere at the base
You can just keep the PCB and battery inside a place that doesn't roll
thin is not the issue
being able to flop about is
put battery, camera and vital internals inside a casing and build your rollable thing around that
Well yes that's what LG and Oppo did
You don't roll up the entire thing, there's a normal form factor screen that doesn't roll up, but it extends to tablet levels
Seems Tuxedo just rebranded Balena Etcher :')
I wonder did they remove the ads from it too??
🤔 getting them to install watercooling is only 50 euro.... nice
€49 extra over air cooling tells me its probably a cheap AIO
Nice lanaposting example though, talking about one thing and jumping to whole another without any warning
the underside of the case has space for 2 fans
50 euro watercoolers aren't worth your time though
but seems it doesnt come with any
which case, what is this even about
guessing a prebuilt pc
is this just looking at a random build
Tuxedo computers
They make laptops and desktops and small mini PCs with TuxedoOS preinstalled
Watercooling a 7600 seems overkill?
so you just looking at the site and post random stuff from it or is anyone actually making a pc from that site
get Ventoy, most based USB tool there is. you put your isos in one folder in the USB, and can boot any of them
yeh xd I know
cpu watercooling
I love it
it doesnt show which cpu
Unless it doesn't work
It's at the top
no thats the gpu
Oooh
have yet to find something that doesn't!
Ok I need sleep
Come over, 3 days and I'll show you I'm incompatible with any imaging software besides straight dd onto usb stick
Ventoy included
I have a similar problem with audio stuff, everything eventually breaks on me
don't sit on your headset
I really like their logo, you can pay 29 euro for them to not put it on your build but I think it looks nice
or 99 euro for a custom logo
dont think that is worth it
LOL

))))
Totally good service, 100 euros worth
How much I could do for 100 euros...
2 more pulls at UwU gacha game
Still couldn't pull a 5 star in Genshin Impact lol
Need like 140 euros for that to be guaranteed
TIL Arch uses systemd-boot instead of GRUB... finally decided to change timeot to 0 so I dont have to wait for an etra 3 seconds for the laptop to boot
Arch uses any bootloader you throw at it really
There's no default per se
But GRUB, systemd-boot, EFISTUB and rEFInd are most popular amongst community
I did archinstall, seems to pick systemd-boot by default xd Unless that was an option I just forgot about selecting
it is a solid option
I wont be dual booting on this laptop anyway soooo
even though I do have 1TB worth of SSD
afaik getting it to boot winders isn't hard
Oh
Idk, never used archinstall
I just remember all commands for Arch installation by heart
And I'm using GRUB because I'm a masochist
😅 you know the entire Arch install off???
damn!
I know the steps needed but not all the commands
For how many times I did it...
it's merely procedure! I don't like doing it myself, but I don't think archinstall is very good
you got to restart the script a lot during the configuration options...
but its never failed on the install part for me so far
once you get to the install part, which may require restarting the script multiple times, seems very prone to crashing after trying to select a drive to install to
I've had some weirness in my install that a manual re-install solved, but who knows
I dunno, I don't really like archinstall, manual install process is already robust and works most of the time
I get that it was an effort for getting more people for Arch, but there already are Arch-based distros with simpler installation procedures, like EndeavourOS
Im a huge fan of ArcoLinux 💜
Rocked ArcoLinuxB with Gnome desktop for years on my desktop
I still use a lot of their shell aliases and their Tweak Tool to this day, its a very nice all in one app to manage shit on Arch Linux automatically
originally only made for Arco but now it works on most arch based distros
owo?
I'm gonna steal that
yep! its a great tool, can be used to install a lot of really nice themes also <3
though I prefer to manually install the Fluent theme direct from Github, the creator provides an install script you can run to configure options and whatnot on the theme
every gnome update extensions and user themes get disabled, so I don't bother with that anymore
i used gnome on desktop cause plasma doesnt play nicely with nvidia drivers ;-;
heh! nvidia drivers are special bois. nouveau is making some progress especially with their open vulkan driver now, so maybe there will be a better option in a few years I hope
NVK is making huge progress, but it's biggest downside is support only for 20-series and newer
Open-sourcing kernel drivers let Mesa guys make huge progress in NVK implementation
And there's some hope they'll release open-source userspace drivers, at least for workstation GPUs, since that's their main focus now
If so, Nvidia could be fully supported in Mesa along Intel and AMD
and that'd be great. nvidia driver is running fine for me within its limitations, only mpv with vulkan crashes when going to full screen sometimes. I'd like to not have to deal with its eccentricities forever though
I need to find out how to change the color of a plasma window decoration titlebar
I wanna use a MacOS like one but they all use the macos color and it is out of place with my theme
two stroke go brrrrrrr
thought it was an actual vintage racebike at first
exhaust sorta looked a bit like it coulda been an expansion chamber type
is that not oled?
No, it's a classic lcd
grey on black isnt common for lcds
its not supposed to be grey lel
That's the transreflective material it's generally gray
again its not supposed to be lel
180 seems quite high
from what I have seen it averages at ~150W
also why tf do you own a 14900k
Winter is coming, so you can save on a space heater
Intel knew what they're doing by releasing 14th gen in October
no APO
ah
I would personally get 14700-900k just for the APO to see where it goes
havent checked the specs, if its 6 physical core then bad
Apo? The gui that they sell you as wonder cure when it’s just a mix of process lasso and thread director?
You have to enable it in the bios (dynamic tuning thingy)
Then install the driver for your mobo
And then install the microsoft store app
When it seems like you get the same with just doing HT off, e cores off or similar
Convenient after the setup? Maybe
But nothing that should be limited to 14 gen only or make a purchase decision
Also only works on supported boards and games
Even if it were only that, I'd rather have it on the cpu and done automatically rather than bother with 2x apps like lasso and director.
And that would easily be worth the extra 30-50$
Doesn't it heavily rely on Intel's DTT which is supported by 11+gens?
Director is not an app that you use that is what intel already uses xD
And you need to go to the bios anyway so just disable the ecores
you're getting into specifics that dont matter
The point is 13900k vs 14900k
?? It’s something by default so you literally dont interact with it already so it matters if you say your value is by not using these apps
cope

APO is nothing more than a policy to DTT, with nice GUI slapped on top of it
Not worth €50, if you can just disable E cores
No I’m buying zen 5
I'd rather go for 7800X3D
Yea and we are saying why the argument for 14th doesn’t make sense

The argument doesnt stop being valid bc u can also do the same or close to with 3rd party apps
You can do the same with less work is the thing
You need to go into bios and do more to just enable it than just turn off things in bios
And you have to rely on external app, which may or may not work
Also a Windows Store App which I’d have to enable again to even get it
14 and 13 can get the same results just 14 can also do it via apo
More options is nice yes
that + baked hardware security fixes prob is alone worth the difference
But saying paying more so you have an option that does the same in more steps?
No hardware fixes
If that was the case I’d agree
Microcode updates, which are also applied to previous gens
Hardware is the same
NGL, would still get the newest gen
Same price sure
But it is very misleading to yourself if you think it’s actually newer
Does it have new components on the PCH
It is the same silicon aside from the 14700k having more e cores
shrug, boosts higher
Whopping 100mhz
Yeah if it’s same price go for it absolutely
But the extra boost is a rounding error in charts and if you get unlucky your cpus is hotter and boosts less than a good 13th one
go for it even if 20$ higher
And even best case it’s still single digit fps in >300fps scenario
Putting that 20 to better ram will do more lol
you cant dismiss higher boost bc you may get lucky on prior gen, so you can on a newer gen too
thats dishonest
Yes I’m saying even low boost on old vs high boost on new it’s still negligible difference though
w/e money means jack to some and to others it means a world. ymmv. This convo has run its course for me 😄
What even is a U15
how is an external display faster than the built in screen on the Deck??? (in terms of input latency)
faster pixel response time
less processing
how is an OLED panel smaller than an LCD
like ever
Distance to the screen via cable doesn’t matter for latency, that is speed of light, a non shit panel is a loot faster than the default steam deck screen
also this difference is like 5 milliseconds
does it really matter
i doubt you can even percieve that
That’s just her wondering how it can be faste run general
i see
You could hook up a muuuuch faster screen than just 5ms faster to it
yep
does it make your inputs stick
it can be a bit buggy at times yes
they're planning on doing an update soon-ish afaik, its basically been like this since release
it does work for most part for me
but occasionally spazzes out
#💻│wootomation for chat about it, there they would see feedback or stuff for it directly
yeah I've mostly used it in valheim so far and it did the tricks the wanted there
and i could just open and close it whenever i play them, but thats a pain and macros are supposed to make things quicker and more convenient so if i have to take the time to reopen it every time i try to use a hotkey and forget that its closed, it defeats a lot of the point of using it in the first place
i was using it to type the skull emoji and open new youtube tabs lmao
Yeah for feedback like that post it in the channel, David is active there this channel is more general and stuff about it would get lost and not seen
yea i did make a post about it
i was just wondering if there was a workaround i didnt know about or if it was just buggy for me or something
its a nice bit of software to use at its core, just needs some bugspray
yea
i kinda wish there was macro support built into the wootility
cus then i can just bind macros straight onto the keyboard keys
instead of binding specific keys to macros that might do other stuff on top of activating the macro
they intentionally opted for separating the macro functionality from the keyboard software itself
for competitive reasons
No it’s to make sure everything in wootility works without you needing the software to run
yea now that i think about it, i guess the keyboard does save the profile directly onto itself
why would it be any different with macros though if it allowed for storing them onboard
so running macros like that probably wouldnt work
Because then oh no esports events might be ban them
like onboard macro recording has been a thing since the 80s?
Because you still need the software to run the macro and that too what ngh said
my last keyboard didnt have an onboard profile so i'd need to open the software for the macros and lighting to work
What you could do onboard as macro would be more like DKS which is limited
whats dks
In other words, competitive players once again ruining something for us filthy casuals
i wouldnt say "ruining"
honestly its not even a problem
i just thought it was something conversation worthy
cus when i went to make a macro i went straight to the wootility and then got confused for a few minutes
yup, thank the valorant, fortnite etc sweatlords
I wish you could put wootomation onto an rpi or something
and have it running directly on a macropad
whats an rpi
raspberry pi
ah
i love how the pose estimation is the same as the other image
just without the background
How does one dissassemble a native C# Unity game?
I used the thing to get the C# metadata out into C# dlls so I have method signatures and such, I just can't quite figure out how to get the CIL/ASM out of it.
dotPeek
Weird, that's not in toolbox.
idk what toolbox you mean its a jet brains tools
ah
That just sounds like USB packet capturing to me.
Erik betrayed the Wooting team and went on to work at finalmouse?
Slap a hardware/FPGA filter on a USB decoder that can count the time between button activation and a specific data pattern in USB packets and bam.
i have dotpeek in my toolbox
Weird, why isn't it in mine?
it's called dotPeek Portable
i also like dnSpy for the same purpose, it's really good
i have dlls set to open with that by default
the fact that they're selling it too
Honestly input latency isn't an issue as long as it's within a few of USB frames...
it never was that big of a issue
you'll naturally adapt to it anyways and the scenario that you'll be in a situation where that latency could've gotten you the win are absurdly rare
what you need is consistency
When the games naturally add at least 17ms chasing a few on your inputs isn't going to matter.
Especially with how crap human reaction times are.
Oh, that looks like it manages screenshots.
That's the one thing I was missing in the VR UI.
But when's it going to be downloadable
Ok so when's Deck's new SteamOS going to be downloadable?
The Deck OS is fine.
Not too sure why Valve doesn't release the Deck's OS for the public
I only want video recording and MTP/similar.
I wish the Steam input API was more friendly.
The main issue with it is how it's so tightly coupled with Steam and you require an AppID to use it.
Otherwise it looks kinda slick.
I don't get it.
What don't you get?
Linux user?
Well yeah, it's better than Windows.
Yeah, my work machine is Linux too... I use my JetBrains stuff there mainly 😉
does you license not include it?
It should?
It's free.
Also it seems that it covers all of them.
It just doesn't seem to have Linux support. .-.
Is it possible to use Ida or something for this?
are netbooks 100% extinct? I would like to have a youtube machine for my bedside
(no, I'm not buying decades-old hardware)
Can Rider do the job?
Toolbox does support Linux
I use it to manage even Android Studio
yes if you scroll up you see it's not about using toolbox itself
dotPeek doesn't.
Convince, auto updates, licencing.
The lack of Visual Studio to put it in, would be the issue, I suspect.
A modified ILSpy kinda works, but I can't view the code.
Convenience? Well, a package manager would be more convenient IMO
Auto updates? I just update my system
It's one click to install, two or three to remove and I don't have to wait for the repos to update.
It's more interaction and then I'd have to manually keep the licence info updated in all the IDEs.
The AUR maintainer for Rider is fairly quick
I can understand not wanting to use the system package manager, especially if you don't want to roll your system forwards for whatever reason.
I don't type a license in each JetBrains IDE I have
I don't either.
I only did in Rider and then the others picked it up
I did it Pycharm-pro and the rest got it.
Well I haven't done it once.
yay is actually not really the system manager since it uses AUR
pacman would be the system manager and it doesnt manage Rider since Rider is AUR
yeah, but I can understand not wanting to touch the rest of the system. 🙂
Logging in once to Rider or the toolbox is the same though
gameboi
You can always just update Rider only
Is it just a Pi in a box?
I can add Rider no issue on my machine. But.. NixOS works a bit different 😉
Ah you're one of those
My guess is 1K-1.5K.
Yeap... NixOS at work, and windows for gaming.
I use Arch btw
Linux for everything except VR here.
A little screwed up because of X forwarding, but hey.
It's nice that I can still forward X when this system is on Wayland.
I've used Arch, Fedora, FreeBSD, Debian, Ubuntu.... 🙂
Ubuntu -> Debian -> Arch here.
Ubuntu? Get out of here lmao
4090 and a 960? can't say I've seen that combo before
4090 for Windows gaming VM?
What's wrong with using Ubuntu?
You just put it over Arch and Debian
960 for junk I need to run on Windows.
mostly I just hate how they push snap over native deb packages
I used it first, then I went to Debian, then I went to Arch.
I don't see an issue with that.
Ubuntu, much like RedHat is becoming its own little planet.
Flatpaks are tolerable
Arch is the best distro I have used so far...
Oh wait. I read it as > and not ->
I really love Fedora, but the package selection is limited ;-; so Arch is the way to go for me
I thought you were saying Ubuntu is superior
I used a pair of 960s before I got the 4090.
I used Ubuntu too before Arch
No Ubuntu is kinda bad.
Good that we agree then
I used Solus before Arch LOL
flatpaks aren't perfect but they are an important step to unfucking the super-fucked unix-worshipping ecosystem
# apt update
# apt upgrade
A system error was detected.
I just dont like that it packs every dependency inside
I really want to figure out how to disassemble this darn game. .-.
Fedora you need the EPEL or equivlient for Fedora, I forget what it is called.
But that solves a lot of issues
Does it have to do with
[Address(RVA = "0x9EC0E0", Offset = "0x9EA8E0", VA = "0x1809EC0E0")]
```?
that's its strength, shared libraries are not good in every situation
But I dont have many issues and i dont use flatpaks
The other path is Nix/Guix. I'm not sold which is worse for sanity.
Qubes.
me neither, but that's because everything we use has active maintainers
Yeah that is the price
I do like shared libs, it means when fun RCE bugs are found it can be patched with a single file and binary sizes are reduced.
As a packager, I hated them with an undying passion at times.
as a user, they have led to incredible headaches especially when dealing with proprietary software in the past
There is a versioning scheme for them, but yeah things are somewhat fragile at times.
Unless it is .NET then it is still DLLs 😂
Impossible at times, depending on what you need to do.
Sometimes it's a ELF with a DLL extension.
I know people generally dislike my Linux package management takes.
What is your take?
my take is, everything eventually ends up in the AUR anyway
That's a truth.
i hope not
It is borderline rule 34 ;).
hell, I'm running foobar2000 from the AUR and it works fuggin' great
I have a bunch of thoughts on them that are pretty tangential to what people seem to want.
doesnt that rely on windows apis?
I do want to make a toy distro at some point with it.
Wine fixes that 😉
oh no
Because this is the kind of thing you can't just strap onto Arch.
it uses your system's wine, and it runs surprisingly good
Most good packaging and the FHS are... pretty incompatible AFAIK.
Which one? Hahga
I dont have Wine installed
whichever one you chose! there is normal wine, and wine-ge on the AUR with proton and game-specific patches
Anyway, I'm going to go for now.
Cheers man.
Hm.. just got my new wooting 2he.. and it's failing to update. Not detecting the device after the first failure.
Is there a channel I should be in for help here.
Progress, I loaded a different DLL into Ida and went to the address in the other DLL and it has correct looking code.
Now to figure out how to copy the metadata because I don't want do manually define hundreds of functions.
im not the only one that thinks it looks stupid right
It looks like a car?
is it a hatchback?
weird...
it looks like it has an FD style rear hatch
kinda disappointed its not
the iconic sp or the fd?
dang, i seriously thought fd's were hatches all this time
feeling extra stupid considering how many of those ive been around
yeah i just never really seen fd's with the trunk open i guess?
i love the look of hatchbacks
i just like them so much more
one of the most beautiful cars ever made imo
(also very biased because childhood nostalgia)
that looks...
its shaped like a loaf of bread
also im pretty sure this is still considered a hatchback because the entire rear opens no?
...crap
looks like I'm stealing from a museum or finding someone I can trust to build a repro
if I can ever afford one
tesla technicians went out on strike here just now
Sweet Jesus
@astral haven you see dis
36 phase vrm
2 24pins, 4 8pin EPS, 8pin pcie and 6pin pcie
Triple x16
4.nvme and a slimsas nvme
Onboard 10g
Triple x16 5.0 and dual x16 4.0
And a fucking com port
Dual 16 and dual 8
also one of those 4.0s is x4
oh shit so its the same as the amd despite having more lanes?
yea except one of the x16 is 4.0
Top three.slots at x16 5.
That's all the CPU lanes
If you don't share with nvme it's triple x16
An elite workstation performer with CPU and memory overclocking, 36 power stages, three PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and server-grade remote management
oh wait asus fkn left it blank
asus makes the same BS claims on w790
" 7 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots"
no, 6 pcie 5.0x16 slots, 1 5.0x8 slot
"7 x PCIe 5.0 slot(s) (Seven at x16/x16/x16/x16/x16/x8/x16)"
trx50 doesnt have enough pcie 5 to do 3x16 + m.2
even just 1 pcie 5 m.2 means you are guaranteed no 3x16 electrical
I'm also shocked that I can't find any 8 dimm 4 channel boards
I mean, two DIMMs of DDR5 per channel aren't particularly stable right now, right?
except on intel ofc :/
also thats only true at pretty high speeds
if you want capacity, 2dpc is the way to go
saw some guy in another discord I'm in perform those mods
New dude at our work raised hell because he couldn't connect to company wi-fi
And was throwing insults at both us and networking guys for an hour now
He didn't add certificate to wi-fi auth
That's some serious wifi
Everyone who works here has their own private .pem and general .crt, we are using it for auth in our network
kurwa
Yeah, there were quite a lot of those too
Via company mails 💀
company wide mailing list of course?
Thankfully not
But 4 team wide lists were in CCs
yes
i like movel
Really love my wooting so far
Always had problems with miss clicks while typing fast on mechanical keyboards, and now I just can set the activation point lower and no issues anymore🥹
lol
oh ffs xd
Who knows a good mirror less camera that is easy to setup as a webcam/recording device. I need something to replace my C920 webcam in some video's. Preferably a 4K camera, no delay with audio and video, and shouldn't be a big hassle to setup it up on a daily basis.
Yes, it is I. 😛 Probably 1000 buckeronis.
Recording mostly now, but streaming would be nice for future proofing tho
Just needs to be easy to do all. Like the ability to just have 4K video in OBS so I don't need to mess with sd-cards anymore. And can just do it all on my PC.
I know the Zv-e10 has a webcam mode, but it's just 720p. So it is safe to assume I'd just get the cheapest 4K camera with Cam link aye?
ye best idea probably
native 4k streaming via usb kinda rare
zv1 / zv1 ii could also be interesting
not sure about the differences of all of them tho
i used a canon eos m50 as webcam for a long time
No delays?
via custom build app no
@astral haven I noticed some match this morning
5950 draws 260w at 5.1
Team said 5995wx pulled over kw at 5.1
260*4=1040
Well. 7950x draws 270w at 6.5ghz
270*6=1620
Which means ASUS expects 7000 to scale like 5000
As biggest common PSU size is 1600w
6.5ghz all core on a 96c would be insane
If 4.4 gets you 140k R23, will 6.5 be good enough for 200k?
It doesn't lol
You are hallucinating
Actuation point on your thing is way too high anyways, 0.1mm is insane
no its not
Rapid trigger at that point doesn't make any sense
Sander after buying a camera for webcam.
Do be aware many cameras support 4k recording, but not a ton can output 4k via hdmi at least on a budget
What I can recommend however is saving a few bucks on the camera to make sure you get a nice lens,
The sigma 16mm f1.4 DC is a good one
The a6300 I think is one of the cheapest with 4k30 via hdmi
Yes. I will just get a red dragon 😛
I heard they make the best keyboards too
https://www.atomos.com/compatible-cameras/?product=ninja-v
This is a solid list of all the cameras which you can use with a cam link, you do have to click on the cam to make sure it has 4k and not just 1080p tho
Atomos exists to help creative professionals cut through technology barriers by creating easy to use, cutting-edge 4K and HD Apple ProRes Monitor-Recorders.
Ah thanks for the info! Pretty helpful!
But yea even if you just get 1080p, it'll look alot better than the Webcam
Oh yeah for sure
If it works for you it’s fine, ignore vex
Your smartphone
Yes tachyon on and you are good
Use your smartphone, once you learn what you want, you can figure out your priorities
Unless you have 30k to spend, there's no perfect option
Take photos with what you've got, and buy the cheapest upgrade that upgrades your main complaints
Read what it does and decide if you need or want it
For example if you have unsteady hands, it'll be rough to take photos or video that look good on anything besides olympus
Or get a tripod
Seriously tho, do your best with what you've got, you'd be shocked what sort of quality a smartphone can output
On iPhone, grab the Blackmagic app
On android, get a copy of motioncam
Well check the free version to see if your phone is supported first
how do you unintentionally press a key
By keeping your fingers on the keys
I rest my fingers on the keyboard so I would misclick with 0.1mm easily
do you have heavy fingers?
I accidentally hit space bar all the time on my current keyboard it’s going to be hilarious trying 0.1mm travel
I think it’s just force of habit, as a laptop player before 0.1mm wasn’t chasing me issues but I bet it would have if I was used to a normal kb
if you do want a fantastic cam tho, whats the budget?
a7c2 is one of the cheaper full frames, the kit lens is pretty bad tho
fx30 is a great cam but its expensive for what you get, the only advantage over the a6700 is the external recording which isnt that convenient for a beginner
for that price get a sigma FP or z6 ii or r8
or get a a6700 and a collection of lenses
or an OM-5
the om-5 is probably the only camera with an incredible kit lens
I don't go any lower than 0.3-0.5mm actuation for my most responsive "fps" profile
Can obs handle raw footage?
no
no you dont
im in movie ma guy
not on zoom you arent
need to add some plugins too
depends what you need
a7c2 if u want to take some photos too
all of those
yea
i have an a7iv and its real nice
it is large tho
same sensor as the a7iv if you want to see sample pics
you could also begin with some apsc stuff
yup
saves money
a6700 can do 4k120, compatible with mostly the same lenses
personally recommend the om-5 tbh
a7iii would also work for that
it definetly depends on what you are trying to shoot tho
trying to take video at night?
heeeeelll no,
ah have u done that?
get a nice app like motioncam or mcpro24fps
very rare that a phone these days cant record at least in 4k
yea
what Phone you got
oh yea also grab an nd filter, can massively improve video if deployed right
tutorials online
ye watch a lot of videos first
and an nd filter is like $10 or whatever
tbh dont buy anything before you know what it would even improve
or what limitations your setup has
youd be shocked
can u not hold your phone
if you look carefully you can see the s23 in there
Official teaser of 'Epic Worlds', a short film entirely captured with the Galaxy S23 Ultra with Emma Myers. Learn more: http://smsng.co/S23Ultra_Emma_Teaser_yt
#TeamGalaxy #GalaxyS23 Ultra #Samsung
really tho just hold it normally
iphone cant do this high quality video, but it can do pretty well, and the iphone video is great straight out of camera
yes @rough osprey this is a video where they record linear raw 12 bit video out of a smartphone
on my phone (s21u) it records at 4k30 at 1400mbps
open gate (4000x3000) 30p it records at 2000mbps
yes that is 15GB per minute of video
what a waste 😵💫
AMD’s chiplet strategy in laptops: balancing innovation and power efficiency. AMD says that chiplet design for mainstream mobile APUs is challenging due to power constraints. The chiplet approach has been instrumental in the success of the Ryzen CPU series. In the domain of laptops, AMD is still evaluating how to approach this idea. During a […...
Mobile chips aren't chiplet yet?
Wasn't the whole point of going chiplet cause it's like, cheaper, better yields?
Higher power
Juicy
Tell em Yann
nah fam its actually good
aah yes yann lecun, completely ignoring the main portion of the argument, and then strawmanning the part that is most easily strawmanned
Chiplets make the most sense when you are cutting up large dies as there is a power / cost increase in doing so. Mobile cpu's are generally smaller so it makes less sense to split them up.
I swear people who make printer software need to be executed or their managers whoever forces it to be this shit
every time the same with every brand
our printer actually worked largely hiccup free for about half a decade
but started acting up with the usb connection to pc
color is of, trying the cleaning thing
magenta isnt printing
now good luck finding a way to get it to recognise its empty
software loads worse than an ad infested website
was there a countdown timer inside for engaging stereotypical printer behaviour or
Oh good I can hear that
new fans new cooler
Oh sh*t too late
second upload of the day
And nobody gives a shit cause it's RT high
4080 still gets beat down with no RT by a cheaper XTX
Turn off DLSS
Seems like fsr is also enabled
4k though, what about 1440p
oh what a shocker, who could possibly have seen it coming
its almost like amd prices their cards in line with their competition from nv
i wish the nvida cards they base their prices on were cheaper
then we get the best of both worlds
My 5700xt is not doing it anymore it seems... Probably needs to lower a lot of settings
I am still happy with my 5700 non-XT
Although investigating upgrade options I guess
There are some good cards that are far stronger than this thing for like 300$
Although you can always get better second hand so.. eh
so are these just pointless at 1080p
all any of those options ever did for me was make the game blurry
both dlss and fsr
At 1080p? You shouldn't use an upscaler at that point
Unless your hardware is really bad
dlss and fsr are meant to decrease quality as little as possible while increasing fps
only ray reconstruction can increase quality at a lower resolution than native
Sounds like FSR1
FSR1 doesn't really do much more than just lower your render resolution
not much
whatever the current fsr version is
well so there you go
What game are you testing FSR on
if that tradeoff isnt working for you, turn it off
What's your card
i dont remember i dont care to have it on
rdr2 was most recent
What's your GPU lad
6900xt
wait how did you try dlss then?
rdr2 doesn't have FSR2 though does it
when i had nvidia card
again, i dont know its one of the first options i turn off
yeah i only play 1080p
they do nothing but make it hard to see for barely any frames
You sure you don't want to move to 1440p?
im poor
