Yep
Yeah and cheap storage removes oil usage massively
Also lol we export electricity for some strange reason then have to buy back when there’s not enough rain to power the hydro stations
You can't just double your solar generation without compensating with storage
Scaling generation is hard
If your next generator makes 100mw and you need 50
You sell off the 50
Then by back 20 when you aren't running it
There is a point at which buying power is cheaper than spinning up more generation
And when it's cheaper to sell than spin down
Big generators take time to spin up/down and that cost time and fuel
Yes excess electricity gets exported, however it should have downscaled when our own grid was of low capacity which it didn’t. That’s my only issue with the system
There is only so many steps
You only have so many small generators and so many medium size
And the larger you go the more time it takes to scale
storage is also intensely expensive
It is
GB spent alot on their pumped hydro which is pretty good tho
So if I want to turn down my 100 megawatt and spin up a couple of smaller 10 megawatt
If I then have to spin up that 100 megawatt in two or three hours I have lost money
So I can compensate some of that loss by keeping the 100 megawatts spinning in exporting it to someone else so they don't have to spin up their 100 megawatt
So even if these batteries are very inefficient if they are cheap and scalable they will explode in popularity
Also the materials are very recyclable and reusable
So even if the lifetime is low the total cost of ownership will be low
If I can build these in a brick plant and have masons lay them it makes it super cheap to install
Planning the battery infrastructure would be costly, I’m unsure if it would be worth it because there are too many towns, all spread out with low population: maybe one way would be to treat them as one big city, all tied to one main battery hub
batteries dont scale
you need something that scales like hydro
Well technically you could take say a six plant natural gas facility and replace one or two of the plants with a mass scale battery
And turn that into a scalable facility
batteries actually scale negatively
double the money is less than double the storage
That's the whole point with these batteries
Yah we have hydro, about 90+% of the country runs off hydro
They are cheap material wise
So increasing storage without increasing the peak generation would be very cheap
pumped hydro not only is modular (you can upgrade generation and storage separately)
the storage upgrades are rather cheap relatively speaking
You missed the point about the carbon and concrete batteries?
If they are as good as they say it would be a massive difference in cost verse lithium
sure
but its still cost per battery
you pay 2x materials you get 2x capacity
with hydro you pay 2x materials you get 8x capacity
Yeah but you need water in bulk
Would you becoming a very hard to find resource in a lot of places
sure but its not a consumed resource
you just need to get the water in the first place and replenish the leaks
Also pump hydro doesn't work everywhere
Amazon tablets have ads on the lock screen??????
Very hard to build one in the middle of a city
Bruh
it works most places, its just very expensive
But we can replace peak generators in the city with batteries
now thats true
And peak generators are the most costly and worse for the environment
but you also shouldnt put peaking generators in a city
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X: Shaping the 2024 PC Market Landscape Don McGuire, the Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer of Qualcomm, unveiled a fresh branding strategy for the company’s PC chips. In an effort to enhance clarity, Qualcomm is stepping away from the perplexing 8cx nomenclature and is striving for a more distinctive approach ...
Oooo
You need peak generators closer to load to limit losses for transmission
yes and no
These companies really can't do without "X"
more efficient to build gigantic generators
And also to help distribute load across the grid
8cx was confusing so let's just drop the 8 and c to leave it with X
Yeah but you need peak generation closer to peak load
even if you lose 5%, better to build a large full efficiency generator, the small ones lose efficiency
you might have to build 4 around the edge of your city
@ashen spindle Arm arch chips aren't necessarily cheaper to produce than x86 chips right?
There are architectural differences there, at least to make Arm perform similarly to x86
Yes then when you have a sag in one section you can't just raise the entire grid voltage to compensate. Substations can only do so much
Let's say Qualcomm aims to enter Windows PC market with like, a Chromebook of sorts, it's not going to necessarily be cheaper than current offerings right?
Which is why you have peak generation inside cities
im pretty sure its relatively small amounts of generation
You also can just spin up more big plants instantly
But proportionally more cost and impact
It's the worst of all of it
They are the first aim for battery or any storage
tokyo for example found it more efficient to use a liquid nitrogen (may have been helium) cable to transmit power from a superstation to a new substation than build a new generator
"high temperature"
ah yes very accurate description of ln2 temps
Yeah no difference
This is just the first core from the Nuvia team they bought up a while ago
But, you know, to match x86 performance, don't Arm chips tend to be bigger?
Not inherently
I think I read that they are physically larger cause they aren't necessarily as performant as they are efficient
So to get performance out of it, Apple makes big chips
Arm or x86 makes effectively no difference
Die size for performance depends on foundry and design skill
See intel arc being massive compared to rdna2 on same node for same performance
plenty of the riscv hype is perf/transistor
Eh, it’s more the open source nature and better licensing options
i mean the actual hype by companies to adopt it
Idk only big companies using it I know of is tenstorrent and they don’t use it for that
For anything bigger than iot or a co processor though?
nah but thats where being tiiiiiny matters
For tiny ones it’s nicer because you have more freedom in what you can do
exactly!
disabling targeted ads is so fun
heck throw a riscv core on a lattice semi chip lmao
cant wait for people to scream apple needs riscv once M3 improvements are equally dead as A17
Is there a way to get back the option for 1080P30FPS on youtube? instead of having to drop to 480p to get 30FPS?
I looked for an extension and they all seem sketch looking
Hm...
Does YT encodes 1080p30 anymore?
watch videos not uploaded in 60fps?
why would you even want that
everyone wants more frames and higher quality and lana looking for the opposite lol
to be fair id prefer a 1080p30 vid to a 720p60 depending on the subject
Yeah
and the 720p60 will likely be more data considering youtube
a lot of tech videos these days are also in 60FPS and idk why cause its just desktop recording
60fps is great for games though
ok but what video has 1080p30 but 720p60
none
so why do you want to downscale it then
I just wanna be able to choose 1080p30 instead of 108060 if my wifi drops speeds or whatnot
its not always needed to run 60FPS
It seems YT doesn't encode 1080p30 until you specify it, yt-dlp doesn't see such versions on 1080p60 videos
More frames is not always better
Interpolated animation is dreadful
That's a lot of episodes
in this context if you downscale something that is already at 60 even with interpolated frames it's going to get fucked even more
Sure enough
yep
but im already watching at double speed, so im usually not seeing the extra frames...
it's not like youtube is using static bitrate though so 60fps videos arent using twice the data of 30fps
so I think the premise is flawed here
I can see no other solution than to rent a VPS, set up yt-dlp and ffmpeg there, pipe youtube videos to ffmpeg and stream from VPS directly
Or better internet
yep
but 720p60 is similar bitrate to 1080p30, and the 1080p30 has better spatial quality
they dont even use the same codecs for all resolutions still
yep
thats also for quality of experience tho
they want the old clients to be able to use at least the 480p vids
my point is it might be a bit misguided thinking that 30fps at1080p would solve many issues of video stutters
since it's not like 60fps is twice the data
6m vs 4m is a pretty serious difference tho
unless you watch tv static I guess
and the 1080p30 encodes are nicer spatial quality than the 720p60 ones which are also around 4m
again 1080p60 isnt an option in this scenario
the options are 720p60 and 1080p30
yet a video only done in 30fps might be higher bitrate so you still need to drop down, not to mention no extension can make youtube add an extra render target if its not already encoded to that
the place where i eat lunch has atrocious reception, 1080p60 vids cant play without buffering, and even 720p60 has trouble sometimes, yet thats what i use
1080p30 would increase the quality that i see even if it wouldnt change the buffering
maybe amd can get fsr3/afmf working for videos better than nvidias vide resolution does lmao
which still refuses to work for me
wont help my phone 😦
not the current one but one in a few years could do that too
someone did get it to work in MPC-HC by just tricking adrenaline
nice!
obvious issue that videos dont have motion vectors like games but that's all solveable stuff
well they have them but not as useable
and then on phones you get a NPU or something that gets used and it could work there soon
yup
although nvidia thought that motion vector generation required a pretty huge hardware unit
so who knows how easy it is to implement in a general npu
oh there is going to be a lot of stuff on open compute summit next week
meta, amd, CXL
👀
I got the Monoprice Monolith M1070 planar headphones used on a craigslist-like. they sound wonderful. music that already sounds like shit isn't improved by them, but still listenable. everything else gets turned up a notch. awesome.
230bux well spent
glad you aren't bothered by the 5khz ringing
they fixed it in the 1070
oh nice
on my sound card, I don't even have to put on any EQ, it just sounds right. phone needs a little bit of help, but that's okay, I'm happy it can even drive them
(these are my first planar headphones. they might be highly flawed. still the best sounding thing I currently own)
EVGA and creative still makew sound cards
unless you are talking about actual dac chips
it's all AKM and ESS nowadays
Fiio been using a lot of cirrus logic dacs in their entry level stuff
$$$$ bois are either using FGPAs or R2R
mine has an SNR of 124dB and cost me 70bux, putting USB DACs to shame

So... it has PIP?
Yes... PIP
PIP implies the second picture is inside the first
this is not, these are side by side
Not necessarily. Depends on the monitor.
Hardly counts as "cheating" though. Clickbait title (unsurprisingly)
That is also PIP
PBP
^
This is just a secondary input taking up half of the screen. You can debate semantics all you want, it's PIP for practical purposes.
PBP
I've tested several monitors with the PIP is separate from the main viewport with blank space
Quad cables here we go
anyone else discord broken?
yes
if I go to another server, this happens
im getting temporary network error on brower and desktop app
no its PBP by definition as its not a picture in the picture. its a picture by the picture.
^
it's 2 seperate mode in my monitor OSD
It is your prerogative to be wrong of course.
Goes back to murdering goblins
the difference is PIP is a window ontop of a window basically
while PBP is windows side by side without overlap
In 2011, after DirecTV released the HR34 Home Media Center HD DVR, Picture in Picture was introduced to all HD DVR models onwards, The feature has five options: Upper Left, Upper Right, Lower Right, Lower Left, and** Side-by-Side.**
so essentailly either one is fine
ooohhhh
indeed
Discord are going to make message links expire in 24 hours, which is good, will prevent scammers from using Discord as a CDN for their fake game downloads or Vbux Generator thats actually a RAT
🤔
me when there is always a relevant xkcd
they're not enforcing this for a while i believe
but they've already added the extra parameters to CDN links
well the main difference as defined by basically all implementations now is that pbp has both outputs have their own resolution which add up to the full screen res. while picture in pitcure renders a main view at the full screen res and a smaller view at a given fraction of the main res
Not quite.
i guess im stuck in this channel on mobile for now
message links? cdn files yes but even then you can automate the refresh via bots
literally the only place i can even see messages
works again for me
also not all cdn files just attachements of messages
just here, not in other discord now
stickers, emotes, profilepics, banners etc all remain non expiring
as far as i have seen
did you upload a new one and see
current ones might not be affected
rn
theres no need to do it for emojis and whatever so they may not have
@prisma crag you seen Pariah Nexus yet?
nvm it is not fine
Youtube, why do all your links have an si parameter in them now when you share one?????
I remove it everytime I send a YT Link cause it sucks and idk wtf it is
All I heard about the show as "worst lightsaber fights to date, there's no weight behind anything", and I'm so tired of Nu Star Wars.
Every random character's getting a limited series.
I enjoyed it, the only thing is that the pacing is a little off
Also Gen V is just as WILD as The Boys
It's great... but it has some weird Hollywood tropes to it.
Or rather... reverse ones.
Few weeks late but someone reported on it
Limited success.
Oh nooo... I'll have to pay (checks eBay) 3 bucks for a key that was ... 3 bucks before.

I am sure a lot of tech-savvy Excel warriors will dread this day.
Now the thing that has kept them their job for the past 20 years is under threat.
Most of the excel folks I know just use equations
As far as I know it was quite common, people who learned as they go to automate things. At least something my dad talked about but I also heard it from other places.
thats why they are adding python to excel and copilot
I understand what they are doing but I at least hope any file with such scripts comes with plenty of warning before executing.

welp
PSU ordered
prime big deal ftw
What deal
some decent deals for amazon prime subscribers
got a PSU for 70 bucks less than it normally retails for, effectively in line with current pricing for the SF750
the PSU in question: the Corsair SF1000L

Big Deal Days or whatever
they end real soon, so I'd pounce on what you find
Not like you have another choice.
Next SFF ATX PSU is Asus and it’s expensive af.
I mean...for the price...no
Seasonic does have an 80+ titanium unit
very lovely piece
but maybe not for over 400 bucks
this psu was half that
same wattage, I might add
Corsair has long had the default PSU for ITX builds, in their SF750
I figure they can't screw up that badly
Like fr Seasonic is just so much better. Never had a PSU from them be even slightly weird.
current build has a seasonic PSU actually
rock solid
very inexpensive at the time
think I paid something in the realm of 130 CAD
for a 750 watt
80+ Gold
semi modular PSU
seasonic seem to mostly be a good options now, just as always gotta make sure the product is good though and not just trust brand name
same price as the SF1000L (also a corsair PSU)
figured since I really didn't need an SFX PSU, could use an SFX-L
why the fuck not
that and I don't actually know what next gen's flagship might suck out of a PSU
figured better to be safe than sorry
and, yk
might be able to use the PSU again when I rebuild my system in about a half decade
seriously though
the price savings on the SF1000L were...stellar
saved 70 CAD on a 270 CAD item
and the SF750 is currently sitting about 190
ten bucks more for 33% more wattage and a newer PSU design (the SF750 has been around a while, always a chance of being sent an older unit)
it'll fit in my Raw S1 with plenty of space for cables...funnily enough, the one thing that won't fit is my 3070 that I plan on using till the next gen flagship launches
I forgot that I got a pretty mammoth card back in 2020
xD
wish, once more
that I'd gotten the Ventus 3X 3080 instead of the Gaming X Trio 3070
ah...a quieter PSU
not that such a thing really matters when everything else screams at full tilt to keep cool playing Cyberpunk
didn't see this
but honestly...I think I picked ok
IS-67XT can definitely handle a 5800X3D
and my current system is perfectly fine in that regard too
it's six zen 2 cores
under a hyper 212
the only times I run into issues with cyberpunk, funnily enough, is in exterior environments where a lot is going on, and that is much more an inadequate CPU issue, more than a CPU not being cooled issue
Yet reports are that in general it runs better, even on SteamDeck
it runs better, but 1440p 120 fps on 3950x and rtx 2080 on all low settings is inadequate
numerous good developers have proven that a 2080 is still plenty good
have they ever ran their game on older hardware?
please shorten the question: have they ever ran their game?

Why doesn't Intel just release a "big-A770" with double Xe cores
Would be a good 500$ card for top-midrange
Are those software gimped to disable some cores?
Cause there is difference in core configuration there compared to A750, is it physically different or did Intel just permanently lock those artificially
More 8khz wireless mice :3
Yeah looked it up, that looks like the same exact die on both
A770 is just a 750 anyways
I mean
not surprising?
btw are the cards just massively inefficient
or why do they have 2 8 pin power plugs
ah
typical gpu stuff I assume
overprovisioning the fuck outta power plugs
because the user can't see the vrm
oohh graphs with my graphics card in them. new stuff is significantly faster
one day
thanks for reminding me about that complete failure
So does a lot of companies
I was apart of that as a advertiser kinda, got promised 5 free ones
One day
ripperino
I got 1 only thankfully
Ah
But shared the ink around
Referral stuff
I was "owed" 5 of them by the way the referall stuff worked
Im regard, no way to refund anymore or even chargeback
Ah
Yeah I rememeber that
Well, shame it never came out
KS in a nutshell
hmm.. a 7700 as a 5700xt is almost twice as fast depending on the test
i like raytracing, but the raytracing im interested in (cyberpunk's superultraduper mode) is too much moneys for me
Like any other new fancy tech, it takes a couple of generations before it goes from being a luxury tech demo to being commonplace.
all the other raytracing usually is very.. meh
I just don't care for Ray tracing thankfully 😅
Even in Cyberpunk
Idk why
But I'm glad I don't
I kinda like Ray tracing mods in older games though
Idk why
Shader shit but still kinda nice

Btw more Starfield + CS2 fixes and antilag+ support driver release yesterday
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-23-10-1
The funny thing is idk really why it's so hard to run
Indie devs somehow manage to make raytraced lighting, hell, pathtraced lighting and audio and somehow it runs just fine
Why is it that "universal" solutions are so damn bad, yet homebaked ones are so damn good
says a non game dev :p
But they did
A lot of reviewers are really outing themselves as either biased or incompetent these days
That doesn't have a word about antilag+
It's not technically even out yet though
And that's AMD's fault?
It's a tech demo
if reviewers can't read that's not their fault
But they did
There was a whole page suggesting how to get best results
And where the feature doesn't do well
indeed
It was just over month ago at Gamescom that we gave you a first look at AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 31 (AMD FSR 3) in Forspoken, one of the first games being updated with the latest version of our cutting-edge open-source FSR upscaling technology. Along with this preview, we also shared that ...
There's a whole section on how to run it
How to enable it, recommended settings, drawbacks, etc
I'm pretty sure FSR3 rollout will for now be just for Unreal titles cause of the UE5 integration
They need to give people a guide how to review things?
It's a guide to the product?
That sounds like a guide
Is that really necessary?
That article at least for me puts together quite well what to expect, how to run the thing, etc
Well, it's not for reviewers specifically, just for general populace
Considering it wasn't released early for anyone to pre-release review
Guy needs glaSSes 😄
I think you are mixing up things, FSR3 is officially out, AFMF is the thing in early access drivers
They are not the same thing
Per GPUopen it's not released yet
mfer something came loose inside my Naga V2 pro wtf
Pay your taxes
Lol, Microsoft agrees that they own at least 18 billion to IRS https://microsoft.gcs-web.com/node/31951/html
glad to know my 365 sub money goes to US boomer SS check
ngl 18b is a lot tho
dont worry there is 100 lawyers already churning how they can reduce that amount
in general microsoft focuses most on enterprise applications and sass
the consumer market is not all too interesting to them
Nvidia in 2024
windows is just the backbone where they can profit from other stuff, thats why its "free"
😛
in general windows AND xbox (and gamepass) are just the entry point for people to start sticking with them and buy into other more profitable things
basically
watch cortana go sub based or is it already?
premium sub now with cortana
i dont think apple would actually do that
Wait msoft ai is not called SIRI im dumb sry
How TF are you saying Windows license sales aren't profitable???
They cost like 150 to 200 dollars each
look above
no ones saying they arent profitable... they just dont care too much as enterprise licenses are way more profitable
enterprise are their biggest customers
especially ones using azure
Oh
Not to mention nobody pays the fully license prices as user lol
azure, office 365 and windows mak licensing
thats where they make money
the reason windows is free to use for personal use is that they want you to buy into their sass
like all companies basically
look at adobe
yep but they also dont care as they also target enterprise
and big companies still buy adobe
yeye just cant add text or remove text from pdf files
they just bought all their competitors
to become irrelplaceable
normally the governments should step in
they just didn't though
i think with adobe they still have competitors for basically all products
the main issue is that adobe products all work together
and you can link project files in other projects etc
so assembling a suite to replace it is basically impossible as it relies on reexporting files over and over for assets in video editing for example
and then ofc adobe bridge etc
for offloading render work
but the same sort of goes for MS office
while libre and openoffice exist... they sorta suck
yea idk
ms just had a strong enouhg grip on the market
so no real competitors could emerge
since basically forever
also the whole but microsoft makes hundreds of euros per win license falls apart when you look at them upgrading licenses for free since ages now
my win10 and by extension win11 are licensed by a win7 ultimate license
and that one came from somewhere on the net
My one license is from university supply the other I still disk t activate
Going to upgrade pc next spring and the whole time win10 was just inactive
ngl i pay for my own google stuff
you know I typed "license windows 11" and found windows 11 pro for 19.85 bucks lol, if you know where to find, it's cheap
doesn't mean it is a valid license
well mine has costed 10 bucks, still works 5 years later
so..
oem license are way cheaper than the usual, somehow
still does not mean it is a valid license
people have gone to court for that
a valid windows 10/11 license is like 80-100€
"Windows OEM keys refers Windows Licenses sold to OEMs, in bulk, at a discount, by Microsoft. If the OEM key is genuine/original, then there are no pros or cons, compared to a regular windows license."
Never had a problem, every people that I know of, still no problems, even for the oem version of words etc 🙂
windows 8 pro cost 10€ that was grandfathered into 11 😄
not a legal and valid license
It is
simply not true
just because it activates does not mean it is a legal license
lol
I think the grandfathered in licenses are all valid
since they just gave you a legal license when you moved to win 10
you know, if this would be illegal, those sites, which are the same, and main seller in online shopping in my country
would have been teared down
you mean exactly what they did here?
you know, I get it, you've got your opinion, let's agree to disagree 🙂
I don' t like wasting my time, waste your money it's fine 🙂
well, I know a lot of people already went to court because of illegal licenses
and the cheap ones basically all are either stolen OEM licenses
or obtained through other illegal means
It will work for the user and they aren’t going to revoke that, doesn’t change there are cases against it and if you were to look deeper it would be obvious those are at best grey area keys
That’s not really an opinion
yea
you are better off just bypassing a license all together than using a stolen one
both illegal, one is less obvious since it doesn't report it to ms with your ip adress
ok, just for giggle, you know people are running windows cracked and never received anything? 😄
Yes
Something being illegal or breaking ToS not being chased after doesn’t mean it’s suddenly following the terms
I agree, but people that are running windows cracked are well, a big number of people, and they never received any threat of going into courts etc
so starting to say an oem will get you to prison, lal
Where was that being said
didn't he apply this?
that is exactly my point
running it cracked is a lot lower profile than buying an illegal license
since you don't report to their activation server with your ip
and you don't appear in some sussy webshops database as a customer
Purely for arguments sake, I have zero memory of Microsoft -ever- suing anyone for using a grey market Window key. No matter if the keys were sold or stolen from an OEM.
At most they will do a blanket ban of a range of keys if ever identified. They literally couldn't give a shit, since most of their key money is from prebuilt licenses.
same
there were thousands in germany
Got a link? I'm curious now.
It started because one site was selling coupons in stores for it
to news articles?
Not the individual user got sued
not public ordeals
Then I'm still correct.
not in that case at least
Obviously retailers will get sued.
Ah right nvm they did try
since lizengo had the right documentation
in retrospect they found out lizengo also sold stolen keys btw
worst part is that under german law you are helping in money laundering
My old workplace used to sell refurb licenses at full retail price. Such a ripoff, but in the two years I worked there it was never an issue for the customer.
One time a Microsoft rep came by one of the stores, and one of the interns mentioned it - and that cost the boss a substancial fine and having to document every license sold going back months.

Guess that intern got promoted to customer
so which means, the one that bought it, didn't have any prob, then?
only the ones that has done the sell
depending on where you live
In this instance not much came from it but doesn’t really set a precedent for all situations

Couldn't fire him.
Not like he did anything wrong in a legal sense. That was the store managers.
if I do recall, the only prob with oem, it is linked to your motherboard, so must buy a new one, with a new board, while the main license it's usable in any motherboard as long as there is only one in usage, right?
Yes.
Not specifically the motherboard. Microsoft uses some kind of obscure points system - Some components are more points. Motherboard swaps almost always trigger it.
not necessarily
So now you gotta sit on the phone with a robot, typing in a long ass code with no way to redo a wrong input. Gotta start over.
The question is though if you don’t want to pay for the regular price why pay at all, if you are knowingly getting it at prices that mean something is wrong, why not just go all the way not not pay
also an OEM license almost always is obtained illegaly if you buy a refurb one
unless they got it from systems being destroyed
which would be unusual with keys for new windows versions
Microsoft sell official refurb keys.
Sticker and everything - Had to sell them with these by law. (Or at least by contract)
I don't know the specifics. But they were these but labelled as REFURB specifically.
Microsoft forced us to buy these for customers anytime we sold a refurbished computer with Windows preinstalled. Even if not used. Had to slap it on to replace any existing ones.
well getting tired of running cracked version, you know at some point a cracked windows start to be unstable somehow, so you must do a reset of your pc once 2 years +/- while now with my oem, I no longer needs to do it, my windows is as fresh as the first still installed
So we'd just note down the old 7 keys and use those as keys if we needed to replace a customer's motherboard or something and Microsoft's robot wouldn't accept the reactivation.
first time*
at some point a cracked windows start to be unstable somehow
Huh
should behave the same as regularly activated windows
that's my experience with cracked windows^^
Yeah no not related to the crack unless you got some bitcoin miner installed along with it
Literally how? 😄
The activators are simple scripts run once a month to re-active on the "company KMS server" running on your own PC.
Nothing's running or installed that does anything meaningful.
Don't know, I'm not the kind to download movies and all, I mean pirate yarrrr, but at some point, even while running the usual prog' to clean my pc, always at some points my windows cracked ended up unstable
Still has nothing to do with it being cracked unless you did use some actual malware for that lol
prog' to clean my pc got the culprit
lal
"cleaning" your pc aka fucking with the registry is always a good method to get your OS to behave oddly
Not could be, that is the case, you might have had issue on a cracked windows but that was not related to it being cracked
well, it could also be the one that I've got, so in a way, we could say, it was related to my windows being cracked, because the crack itself was fishy lal
interesting
idk what that means
that those model F boards someone was mentioning?
or you mean the naughty word

Hopefully there will be some tech vids soon
Can someone help me. Just got my keyboard and want to customize it but the weeb page tells me to give permission to connect.
And I just don't see we're I can do it.
Also what browser are you using
Firefox
Windows Firefox eh?
Firefox does not support Wootility.
Oh ok
Download Vivaldi
Firefox but better
Sadly chromium but.. it's pretty damn good
Only reason I'm not ditching Firefox is cause I'm too lazy to copy all the damn local passwords off firefox to a password manager
does your manager not include csv import?
Uh, no?
bitwarden for example made it easy for me to migrate from firefox and safari/apple keychain to it
also meant i had to declutter thousands of logins
Pixel buds drop has arrived
I've honestly been enjoying buds a whole lot at work
3rd gen airpods for Android and PC is my endgame
Interesting
Did you know the pixel buds pro can swap between windows and Android media so long as you pause the original?(do hope they give more options to maybe prioritize one device or another)
Interesting
Yeah and it is instaneous
JBL Quantum TWS Noise Cancelling Gaming Earbuds (2.4Ghz Wireless or Bluetooth),Black, Small https://a.co/d/7lzAUJT
These are the only in ears I would consider because of the 2.4ghz dongle
I see
Microsoft teams is horrible and keeps not picking up my mic on my wireless earbuds
Even on headset mode
And checking the input/output
On windows?
Did you disable laptop mic?
Seems like a teams issue then
I know discord has conflict if in a call and connected to a headset
However it offers to swap to the new one
Even Bluetooth related
Teams audio implementation is horrible
we use all 3, teams definetly has more cons than pros lel

i have a confrence system (speaker, mic, camera) hooked up to my pc and teams is very unhappy about it
it always wants to use the speaker when i select the mic, but i want it to use my headphones
gotta keep in mind there are 2 output devices for bt headphones, the one that supports mics and the one that doesnt
I make sure it is in headset mode on the sound setting
😦
Yeah it's a pain
So I wonder if a tws with a 2.4ghz dongle would bypass all of that
Soundcore and epos also have those
you should also be able to get a bluetooth audio dongle
like the btd800 or creative one
Hmmm
it presents the computer as an audio device
Can those be used with default windows drivers?
yep!
Cuz software download is 50/50 on my company blocking it
Can't even use Chrome remote desktop
Extensions are mostly fine
Yeah network block
figures
hella excited getting my saturn pro mousepad tomorrow then my pc parts on the 20e
All. Major ones support importing
Does not work with humming I will say
Oof
Pro?
Sorry I meant it ignores humming
Yes
The hearing safety check could probably come the A series I imagine
Nah, I doubt it
Now I wait 3 hours for it to install lol
Seems silly if Google forgoes it, since the hearing protection has been missing for a while
Well, Android 14 already alerts you if you are listening too loudly
Well good enough then
so they dont have to bring it to the Buds themsevles
I have yet to see that alert, which is a good thing LOL
oh hmm
I may have to buy a digital audio player again to drive my new headphones... after all these years. if I get a european one, will I still get cucked by volume limits?
(phone is putting up a valiant effort, but it's not up to snuff)
There are some external dacs out there
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005516171071.html yeah I was thinking of this one, should I get one
but first I wanna see how the wacky world of DAPs has evolved since I last looked
they removed the Spotify heart :(
Ahh ok nice
Budget?
for sub $50 i'd get a moondrop dawn pro
very new release, great little dac/amp that's just been updated
?
oh, based. it's a CS43131, very beloved from what I read
then dont update
if you want even more power $80 gets you that new fiio fa13 dac/amp that also just released, even more powerful
its a plus now
but if you don't need the extra power then the dawn pro is great for $30 less
the little mini portable dac/amps have gotten crazy powerful lately
my headphones have an impendance of 60 ohms, not crazy
oh yeah that's not high
i saw recently even DMS swapped to using a mini portable dac/amp too. His is the super fancy $200-300 one, but still - tiny little thing lol
For 100 days I ditched my desktop DAC and AMP setup for... a dongle?

Read some article about that now but feel like they could've kept the heart and just added the functions?
heh, I believe a lot of heft and weight are often added for marketing purposes. psychologically, it works on me too. but I have limited space in pants, so something small is required!
this is the same chip that the Moondrop uses, and has been the low-cost, low-weight standard for a while. sadly, very hard to get in europe
i prefer separate wire personally for my dongle dacs, just cause then I can replace the wire and not the whole thing if it gets dodgy
https://www.amazon.de/UGREEN-Adapter-Headphone-Compatible-iPhone-gray/dp/B082WG5VTK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3 Order it from Amazon?
that's not the same one, I keep finding this one a lot too, but I haven't paid it any mind
Ah ok I've been happy with it though
I've had bad Type-C to 3.5mm dongles but this one has been able to push the volume so don't have to have it maxed to even hear anything
good to know, thanks. european laws are stupid about this
Think that it was a "Hama" Type-C to 3.5mm that was bad
oh god, Hama sucks so hard. I avoid them wherever possible, except network cables. which are impossible to fuck up
fair point! I climb ladders and move around a lot where I work, so the less dangly bits that can get pulled out by accident, the better
hence me insisting on a phone with a headphone jack. I just didn't think I'd get a pair of headphones cheap that would outclass it.
I personally have had quite a few issues using dongles on samsung phones, Samsung probably uses a really shit driver that causes issues
haven't had issues with my ipad or pc with the same dongle
I think it may be from power draw from the device, samsnug and their crazy power saving tactics
the apple dongle is known buggy

it uses an apple specific volume extension that windows ignores, and android misinterprets
Has been fine on my Samsung phone the one time i ised it
using Uapp works great as it bypasses the samsung drivers
but when closing the app it goes back to having issues
Mine is getting sticky though somehow
"Sticky"
My moondrop click dongle has issues with noise and has issues when the volume of the track goes down too low
the dongle seems to power down when the volume gets too low
Yea i think the cable part is getting soft
Might replace it at some point
this isn't the fault of the dongle as it doesn't happen on pc or my ipad
Bit it basically doesn't move anywaysjust at work to power my buds on my lapy
@final flame did you see the schiit midgard?
what about it, is it a new product?
It replaces the magnius
Might be a good upgrade for you
oh cool
Bluetooth mini dac/amps are pretty nice too. More expensive but really nice to not be tied to phone at all and just have the amp in your other pocket
I use my fiio btr5 every day at home just to not deal with being wired to the phone
time to buy another adapter
@lofty pivot linked it earlier. very intriguing device. not sure I believe the dual/quad DAC gimmick, but it can't hurt (except your battery)
The fiio ka13 is same thing as dawn pro I believe too, but they shoved in an extra amp to boost its power even more
is there any good multibit dacs schiit sells?
damn I might as well go pick it up in person at this point
afeela 🤩
At least from reviews, the bifrost is the best one to get
Dunno about the modi multi 2
Kekekeke
apparently, this has the same chipset as the Moondrop
also, the wattage doesn't appear to cut it for planar headphones, even efficient ones. drat. I need to beef it up.
Do you need to use Planar headphones on the go?
I would like to, yeah.
128GB.... for that price 😅
Yea, gotta make more money on the upsell, the apple way
Shite phone for that price
meanwhile my € 250 phone from 2 years ago has double the storage
1300 finland dollars! oof. looks like I'll have to deep dive on headphone amp wattage. the Moondrop Dawn Pro can do 120mw, which will probably need to double
For €400 one can buy the ''popular'' A54 that has 258GB lol
Actually it seems decent this time around
Especially more if Google delivers 7 years of update
SoC is still way worse than snapdragon models
Which are cheaper with better internals than this thing
Yes but do you need more power
And 7 years of updates is bleh
I bought a phone for the same price with a 8 gen 1+ still has scroll jutter
At least with the tensor chip you get better battery
Tensor G3 can't match a Snapdragon gen 1 I'm pretty sure
Of course
And Snapdragon 8 gen 3 is coming out this year
Battery I'm not sure Google is better than Qualcomm either
The only thing that Google is agreeably doing really well is that screen
Very bright, HDR10+
Camera and video also look great
Black people do get weird artifacts from the brightening of the video feed though
Nahhhhh
Yess
Then that is subjective choice
Because the software backs it up
Not everyone may like the picture style though
Gcam is pretty good, no cap
But camera wise it's not the best
Sony beats it out
If you mean the hardware
Sure
But with the Sony phones
Probably need to use pro mode
Which Google actually put this time on the pro phone
But only the pro phone....
Sony best 💪
Well good to know you like Sony over others
Can't believe though that the most basic features like a sim card, sd card tray, 3.5mm jack are now "niche features"
Yes the tooless sim tray is cool
Yeah it is wild blame apple
Sd card tray may as well still exist with sim tray
Don't need a SD card when i've got 512GB of storage , the 3.5mm is yeah whatever i've got dongles and TWS and the S23U has a Sim card
Again, I get that 3.5mm jack disappearance, we are transitioning to wireless era
Which I am getting accustomed to but not really liking it
It's fine
That is fair
SIM card? Esim is good but I like physical more
Headphones do not need a battery
However truly the biggest issue is that sd card tray
You are now fully forced to pay more for a phone to get more storage
Instead a wire could exist in fact Asus was gonna make some hybrid ones but canned them they had a ess sabre dac on em too
And with no way without some cloud bullshit to get more storage
SD card slot is a must have
3.5mm is still common on budget phones, where it is also the most needed
Can have a sim/sd card tray combo and esim too
Sony does everything, with amazing internals, best in class cameras, great minimalist design
Best phone
Depends on the person honestly
You do pay for it though
Loads of storage yet to fill
Does Sony still have dual speakera
Same
Probably?
Oh yeah Sony is also Victus 2 glass, IP65/IP68
So great reliability
I mean the gorilla glass victus does not really matter
Still glass
Uh, that's wrong Cruella
Glass comes in different types, and Victus is pretty damn good
Lemme guess it is tempered glass with oleophobic coating
You know apple put sapphire in their camera lens it is wild, and it still scratches and shatters
The S23U has it too?
Few others do, yes
Sapphire is pretty cool, has a damn great scratch resistance rating
But lab made sapphire is still expensive
Yeah the HTC U Ultra or what was it called?
I think so
There was a... CAT phone I think? That had a thermal camera
I hope some mainstream phones get that
HTC released the Sapphire Edition of the U Ultra, and it is time for a scratch test with JerryRigEverything's Moh's Hardness Picks. One of the quickest ways to differentiate between glass or sapphire is with a hardness test. This video will also test the Zagg Invisible shield Sapphire Defense screen protector for the Galaxy S8. It advertises th...
Cause it's hella cool
You know there are attachments
The orange YouTube channel guy who was recently under fire uses them
HTC? ain't heard that name in a while
Well that's an old phone though
oh that explains it
Yeah the Cat S62 Pro
Specs are just meh 😅
I wish I could read
vex you LIAR
7 gen 1 is quite meh
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean for most people fine
not even on the go, if you ever want to listen to music outside
What's up honey?
Yeah, sure
Just thought that Planar would be best used inside 🤷
music outside hits hard
especially stuff that is open and atmospheric
taking a walk with planar headphones is quite enjoyable, can still hear the rustling of the forest while listening to music
Ok 😄 👍
You'd hear that with 1) Any open back 2) Some in-ears that have microphones that allow you to enable "clarity mode" and hear outside sounds
But yeah planars are quite good
Although methinks I prefer dynamic drivers over planars
Never tried electrostatics
Also while talking phones : https://www.gsmarena.com/the_oneplus_open_will_be_unveiled_on_october_19-news-60209.php
Meh
Clone
@empty wren did you get a pixel
No maybe later like next year
personally I'm waiting for liquid phones before upgrading
foldable displays are too soft imo
when it can't be damaged by a fingernail let me know
The ones with fish inside
?
Aren't rollables using normal glass?
Yes
So they don't have nearly as many drawbacks as foldables
The display just unrolls since it is curved
Fuck me I want a rollable phone in the market
just liquid! carry your phone in any bottle. if it soaks into your pants, just wring them out
What kind of soaking pant liquid are we talking about
thats not exactly right, they use normal glass to the same extent as folding phones, just it can be slightly thicker than it is on the folding phones
the top layer is still plastic
Booo
personally fine with the wraparounds tho, and those use glass since they dont have to change angle
If it is possible to vary glass thickness then maybe they can do all front glass just would have to be very thin on the sides
varying the thickness is possible, but doing it on top of the display is the hard part
Arden, remove this, this is nsfw!
yeah that was probably over the line, sorry

I've been poking fun at Arden ever since he took down a joke
I cast a reverse skill so the video is undone
Arden remove this! This is nsfw!!!
I believe Arden is mansen today

I look away for a few minutes, tf happened
Nothing

Are you always standing near that corner?
Introverts be like that
steals meme before it gone again
maybe
Nice?
There's still hope
That Exynos will be at least competitive with Snapdragon 8g3
Samsung should finally face it. Their stupid Exynos chips are garbage
Why I guess I am coping is cause Samsung INSISTS that Europe always gets Exynos
So I am impacted with Exynos being shit
Well I don't buy Samsung anyways so whatever
Importation is a choice
i hate them for the decision to return to Exynos for us
Not bothering
Also Assmung did say that S24U will use 8g3 worldwide
Just the cheaper ones will have Exynos in some parts of the world
Obviously, Europe
Cause fuck you Assmung
it is an option, but also not, because non-EU versions do not support the same bandwidths we use over here
But AMD is partnering for Exynos so I hope it succeeds
can you quit with this.
Bro is done with being poked fun at after just 2 times
exactly 😄
What does Asmongold and Assmung have in co.. oh
