who need grammer anyway
They managed to compose neurons into code?
Oh apparently I misinterpreted it, this is somewhat even bigger
This would essentially give us some ideas how to implement ways to figure out how an AI model works, how it came to conclusions and how can we manipulate the interim decision making to improve the models
Since for whatever reason, we don't know how they really work
I heard that there's software out there that's going to emulate a pianokey press on the wooting?
going to make a virtual accelerometer for each key press to determine how loud a piano sound is?
Sad...only AAC
AAC isn't bad at all, I dunno about android's implementation tho
its not great compared to any of the other options tho
even base aptx is better
hd, ll, and adaptive as well as ofc ldac and ldhc all are better
thanks for the redirect, I wasn't aware
👍 yea its prolly got alot of info to look at even if you dont have feedback to give right now
now I'm wondering if wooting's gonna make a mouse to pair with their bleeding-edge keyboard
one of the things I really enjoyed about Razer is the Hypershift integration (I can press Fn on the keyboard and the mouse goes into the alternate profile)
probably not
A team of New York University computer scientists has created a neural network that can explain how it reaches its predictions. The work reveals what accounts for the functionality of neural networks—the engines that drive artificial intelligence and machine learning—thereby illuminating a process that has largely been concealed from users.
Speaking of
in what regard? AAC becomes virtually transparent at around 160 kbit/s, but it's kinda demanding in terms of battery and not very fast
not really
lucky you
for many of us it is
i will say it matters less the worse the device is
for the high end tho like n300 and the headphones, its kinda important
I'll take your word for it
if you cant hear it, you dont need to worry about it
and for stuff like youtube its solid
yea the codec is better than lower bitrate stuff
now compare it to aptx adaptive or ldac
even ldac 330
(where ldac goes up to 990)
like sure if apple was stuffing aac320 over bluetooth that would probably be fine
why even use lossy compression if you're gonna use bitrates that high
because you need error correction for wireless
and its still significantly lower than raw
yea well opus in bluetooth when?
open standards in hardware design? lol never
about listening tests: forgive me for being very skeptical of claims when every ABX test I find gives satisfactory results for AAC at a certain bitrate
aka close to imperceptible
but compare when its in bluetooth
it would be if it were running at 320
but its not
also keep in mind offline conversion vs realtime conversion is a very very different quality level
okay, I can accept that

With over 50 years of heritage in headphone acoustics we remain dedicated to ensuring exacting standards in both sound and ergonomic performance That's why we continually out to refine and innovate our products integrating your preferences and experiences into our signature designs Fidelio X2HR i...
its just like sbc too
sbc in theory is fantastic
incredible bitrate
96k
16 bit
but thats not how its implemented
its always 441 variable bit depth and under 100k
afaik it depends on a lot of factors. if you throw enough bits at it, it should be transparent
What kind of horrible pricing is that
I have heard of Fidelios and that they are alright
But pretty sure that there are far better headphones at that price
I'm hearing good things about philips at that price point, but it's been a couple years since they released
tbh I fucking hate bluetooth. not because of audio quality, it's just fiddly and meh overall
KLEER
thats the name of the tech i wish would come back
kleer was fkn goated
literally just raw audio data with minor protocol overhead
could pair multiple headphones to the same transmitter
no compression, incredibly low latency thanks to skipping compression
all around awesome
sadly, the best technology is often not the ubiquitous one
only problem is it cant be integrated into bluetooth
and bluetooth has so many options
Uh, 2.4GHz is quite ubiquitous
I have no idea what you mean with that non-sequitur lol
Nice term that doesn't make any sense
You did know that audio products can use the 2.4GHz band for wireless connectivity, have been using it and are very good at it?
I have not been bitching about the frequency band, nothing wrong with it
Well you hate bluetooth, move to 2.4GHz
If you find the 3 odd products that actually use the band for wireless
??? whatever you say boss
RS 185 - Digital Headphones Wireless - Over-Ear Headphones Home Audio - Ideal for modern music & TV - Sennheiser Discover True Sound - Top-quality products and tailor made solutions - sennheiser.com
bluetooth is also 2.4ghz
and ofc vex links sennheisers absolute worst option in the category
Is it actually?
Could have sworn it was some sub-band judging with how shite the technology is
see, I used the term non-sequitur because what you said made no sense in the context you replied to
Well it's an "efficient" protocol so.. eh, it does its job
bluetooth has a ton of bands
It makes perfect sense lad
to you maybe
Don't like bluetooth, get sennheiser's wireless
not sure if I would trust cnet on judging audio products
Pretty sure sennheiser's wireless is lossless or someshit like that, long range and else that bluetooth isn't
sennheisers is an analog signal
oh sure its about the product features, its been wiped from the internet for the most part
it is now but it didnt used to be
afaik the old rs ones also were
the rs220 are kleer based with dsss on top to make them more resilient
it's essentially just a radio
what the hell lol
the rs180 and rs220 are digital
Great. Sennheiser making more trash. F
that ought to be a disaster for people with identical pairs next to you
as is the rs160?
This is an ancient product though
From when?
For audio stuff? Lmao no.
Audio moves so slowly.
high end low latency headphones are still a shitfest
Pretty sad that something as good as a Bathys only uses bluetooth
Bathys?
Can't get why you'd do wireless, tbh. I had decent wireless back in the day and they sounded like complete crap.
the rs220 is fantastic, you can find whatever reviews you want that cover it, i just linked cnet for a feature list
Didn't know it at the time but these days? Yike.
ah
Focal's Bathys, some of the best wireless headphones on the market
To some the best
if they sounded like crap, they definetly werent that good
And still bluetooth only wireless
So C tier at best for headphones.
bluetooth can be good nowadays
Has anyone made some pluggable-in adaptors for some lossless 2.4GHz connection to appliances like PCs or phones?
aptx adaptive is incredibly good
Afaik DACs are still relying on bluetooth
ldac 990 is also pretty solid
You literally can't do lossless wireless streaming.
kleer
look it up
I'll believe it when I see it
because I dont want a 150m long cable in the house to walk around
The only actual lossless data you'll get is TCP and then you stream that over resistant backend.
did aeon also mute me?
would make sense considering neither him nor vex want to be right
I'm quite literally a systems admin and I'm studying for Kubernetes engineer, I have one of the most terminally indoor liftstyles possible, and even I'm not that attached to discord.
Just put the fucking mic down when you go take a shit.
you can't do multiplayer battle shits with a wired headset
See now that belongs in r/cursedcomments just like you.
I know why that "can" is in italics
you can't do lossless audio over usb or play it back via a pc at all
even lossless formats are only an approximations
seems weird when 1X CD speeds are enough for lossless audio 😛
different definitions of lossless
the better bluetooth connections are honestly pretty decent these days. It’s not wired but it’s solid
Not quite. It's possible to do with studio equipment with Mhz audio, but that's very much a case of niche.
Technically doable.
Nobody want a 4 minute song being 800MB.
https://www.cnet.com/reviews/sennheiser-rs-180-review/ no high end audiophile gear sure but going great for 7+ years for me, no bluetooth either and lossless
you can store a single second analog recording to infinite fidelity
to infinte storage space
Anyone have any advice? Nothing I do lets me reset my pc, keeps giving me the cannot reset error
well but then analog is not lossless
Been using a bluetooth dac/amp for iems when I’m moving about the house and it’s been quite a nice experience
thanks to nyquist's laws you can know the signal is lossless with a certain amount of precision
which you can reach wirelessly
no reason you couldn't
also these topics always remind me of https://discuss.systems/@dan/110008052977994607
This is your periodic reminder that 10 years ago an audiophile forum started debating which versions of memcpy had the highest sound quality.
And that C++ new sounds better than malloc.
definition of lossless I'm familiar with is bit-identical transmission
yep and if you have digital data to begin with sure
audio is originally analog
well but that's beside the point
yep
I had the rs170s for a long time too lol - they were great for just wireless listening back when Bluetooth wasn’t as good as it is nowadays
I'm still fearing the day mine break and I dont know what to get now lmfao
i bought an extra 2 rs220 for when mine die
new r0ach content
I'm just hoping whenever they die we have something thats at least as good, I have just about that much faith that a decade later new stuff is equal xD
what the actual fuck
i have no hope now considering its over 10 years now
r0ach is peak schizo, banned in just about every community he shared his bs in
I went full IEMs these days just because I found headphone hair annoying and I got tired of cleaning headphone pads constantly
Never forgetti. I've had morons arguing about Linux being better for audio because the backend sound tech is better.
Bruh it's digital sound, if it's not absolutely fucked it's the same.
You find some fantastic idiots.
Some casuals will claim this is voodoo, but I promise you it's not. If you have a combination modem and wifi router, all those billion settings on the router actually affect your mouse movement. Things like "readyshare" for media sharing and all the others. If you just want a single setting to test this theory, one of the more egregious ones is "Airtime Fairness." Toggle that on and off and you'll notice an immediate effect where having it on the cursor is slower. biggest brained post I have seen this year
Nah that's not brain dead. It implies there was a brain there in the first place.
the brain is fantastic at fooling itself, and with a solved problem like audio there are lots of imaginary issues to make up
Has this energy. It never developed in the first place.
Oh for sure. Like 99.99% of humans can't hear any better than what standard high grade audio will allow, but fuck me they aaaalllll hear a difference.
No you don't, stfu.
Ausio isn't fully solved tho, we don't really have long range low latency low power all at the same time
You used to have none 20 years ago, 10 years ago we could pick 2, but still now you can't get all 3
I'll allow it for analogue valve amps since those do change the sound, but you aren't hearing a difference in cable. That's mental damage.
Audiophiles have the oddest people in their communities sometimes. They’ll just recommend products to each other that neither person has tried half the time
*digital
Analog cables can change sound if they are actually driving the audio
things that are technically noise, like analog audio equipment, can sound subjectively better yeah
Siemens E88CC gray NOS ‘65 for me. I love that thing.
true. lemme correct that to digital-to-analog conversion specifically then
I wanted a ‘63 but I wasn’t about to double my price for it.
what's cool about audio in linux is that the driver can expose some settings in the chip that you don't get on windows drivers, but that's kinda it
maybe. de-emphasis is a kooky feature to have, dunno what DAC filter does but I would guess it's the low-pass filter. I've never seen that able to be customized!
for somebody, somewhere, this has to be useful
does the emphasis actually do anything?
lemme see
in spdif, emphasis is 3 bits of data that mostly just get ignored
oh no there are 3 data bits for different things, 1 of them is emphasis
yeah, it does something. it's a holdover from 80s noise cancellation tech. it used to be called Dolby on tapes.
if I enable de-emphasis on this chip, it reduces high frequencies, aka it's good if I'm listening to the Quake 1 CD music lol (that one has pre-emphasis)
hunh
I'm not aware of any other CDs that use it, for some reason Quake 1 had it
yea when i feed my dac the emphasis bit from my src2496 it does nothing
what should I do with the dlss sharpening slider?
will maxing it just ruin how the game looks
personal preference
leave it off unless it looks blurry to you
I think so, some like it tho
so my sound card's de-emphasis is the old-school analogue type
(at least it simulates it)
interesting
well my dac ignores it
might be implemented internally, but if i feed it the bit it doesnt do anything

its not april????
interesting, according to the manual it should be the same thing
forgot to reply, I remember that debate, so bizarre
my favorite was a guy who swore he could tell CD rips apart based on the CD drive they were ripped with
that may have once been true
different drives had different quality of error correction, throw a scratched disk in there and one may have issues where another is fine
especially with like the 50x readers or whatever
mid-2000s were a dark time for CDs, I hated these overly fast drives
I had a CD crack in a 52x drive once
that your janky PS1 then couldn't read due to fast speed and cheap dyes used in CD-Rs lol
Lads.
It happened.
https://snapshots.raintank.io/dashboard/snapshot/V2wFTJltc6GyXBcFjxNQI1E94Q89kPMv?orgId=2 Minecraft Folia running on an Epyc 9654, theoretical maximum of 3000 players in a minecraft server.
Verbatim all the way for me, especially azo-coated disks
The grafana logs are ridiculous.
171 players at 5% CPU.
1.21Gb/s inbound traffic to Folia.
This is not ok. This is devilish server backend.
Actually being able to justify needing load balanced proxies.
holy based they are still making them!
People still use them.

is it the same 7% or whats their turnover rate...
Couple steps later,
They changed the battery saver indicator in Android 14
And I'm so happy
Before and After
The red outline they used to have was an overlay
It didn't fade away in Fullscreen like the battery icon and the rest of the icons did
So you'd see a faint red outline in Fullscreen
It's better now!
that honestly sounds like a fun way to spend a week
just trying to live like it's the mid to late 1800s again
@ashen spindle
deckard copium
meta connect event has come and gone, no news from valve...
Hm I wonder if anyone can help me. What's the correct device if I need my active speakers and headphones connected to my PC, liek something in between so that I dont need to always unplug/plug
Something with passthrough for the active speakers?
yeah sure, but I dont have the physical slots on my pc to connect both speakers and headphones
yeah im asking what kind of device is good for in-between
or an amp that has passthrough for active speakers
idk if it exists 😄
haha just looking for the cheapest possible solution
lots of headphone amps also have RCA out but I don't think they discriminate between the output
i.e. they'll send to the headphones as well as to the RCA
https://www.thomann.de/fi/analogiset_mikserit.html?oa=pra&gk=PAMIAM&cme=false&filter=true here some mixers sorted from cheapest, maybe you can figure out what you need
think something in the <100€ category will do
I almost got the behringer 302/502/802 at some point, think those are a solid pick depending on how many channels you need
they are very functional, not very pretty on your desk though
Thanks for the suggestion bud
My issue with my headphone amp before was that it was amping the active speakers so basically double amped and the hiss from speakers was soo loud
some kind of ground loop maybe
Im not sure if such a device exist that has RCA passthrough
Maybe the mixers do?
yeah headphone amps normally act as pre-amps for speakers if you wanna use em that way but a good one should not give a noticeable hiss
mixers basically just take inputs and send em to the output and you can control each input's volume in the mix from 0-100
sometimes they have more outputs as well
just gotta find a product that does the thing you want
this is 50% hebrew to me, so I take it this would fit my usecase the best?
what's your setup looking like now anyway?
PC 3.5 mm in splitter to 2 rca (speakers) and then I plug it off and switch 3.5 mm headphones when needed
and its too much hassle and im lazy
behind the pc, mobo slot 3.5 mm
in that case with no external dacs or amps in the chain, you could just get some cheap splitter that has a toggle I think
got a link? 🙂
https://www.amazon.com/audio-switch/s?k=audio+switch like any of these I guess
Amazon.com: audio switch
@thick elk I think uses one or used one
maybe he knows a cheap working one
thanks!
So there are a ton of strings added in SteamVR 2.0 for Deckard's Computer Vision based tracking systems. Which reports to Steam VR for initialization
They have references to something called "OTGT" in the Lighthouse HMD drivers. Best assumption from us is that it stands for "on the go tracking"
There are also strings for Deckard to adjust expo...
New things are happening but no date for anything currently
how are the wooting 60HE switches vs Romer-G switches
A completely different technology.
The comfort control module on my BMW e36 failed but I need to close the windows. Here's how I worked around the module failure in a very unsafe way that you absolutely should not do.

installing a battery to manually control the window motors cause the switches in the car broke
anyone here tried crinacle zero iems for gaming? im considering getting them
they’re not comparable?
You can't compare two different things like that, I'd one can't be used in the other.
There are Linear "red" switches on both sides, and that's as close as a comparison gets.
🤔
battery health is back to 100% now
wtf
plasma be wack
it said 94% a few days ago
It's a guesstimation at best
Ultramarine Linux uses Fluent theme by default 😍
its one of my favourite Linux themes, fuck yeah <3
normal person: uses a reasonable hostname
me: uses anime character names as hostnames
just out of curiosity, do you play games on linux?
yes
I have Steam Deck, and my desktop also had Linux and Windows on it, dual booting from 2 SSDs
I also got emulation stuff installed on my SD card, so I can pop that in and play retro games
i see, ive wanted to try going full only linux and virtualize win to play games but
i dont think i'll manage lmao
Careful, if you use a VM to play online multiplayer games like COD, BF and Fortnite etc etc, they may ban you for using a VM
the only online FPS games I play are Splitgate and Apex Legends, those both work on Linux without problem
so idk maybe ill try dual boot
and sometimes Ballistic Overkill or TF2
Dual booting is a major pain in the ass, windows tends to overwrite GRUB when it updates and you lose access to the Linux partition / drive unless you fix the issue .-.
and it sucks to fix the issue
which appears to be an issue for you but nobody else who uses dualboot here I should add
also, you need to turn off Fast Startup in Windows Control Panel or else Linux may not be able to connec tto wifi or use Bluetooth
my hostname for some reason is always arch even if im not using arch at the moment
LOL
doesn't seem to happen like it used to, though its not that hard to recover
you yearn for the Arch
yeh funny enough, it happens far less on Windows 11
probably because it was my intro to linux and what i used for the longest
My first distro was ZorinOS back when they used their own desktop
and I love it <3 such nice theme, pretty animations etc etc and rock solid ubuntu base
yea I've had windows 10 actually nuke itself
Proton-GE on steam works for more titles than it doesn't for me. gaming is almost pretty good now. I say almost, because some fiddling is still required
like not just kill the boot partition but take the entire windows root with it
o
yeah...
that's windows 98 tier self destruction
LOL
real
thanks google assistant for reminding me that my phone bill is coming out tomorrow
didnt particularly wanna know I'm gonna be down £30 but good information
i've heard that there are still issues with nvidia drivers tho
they are fine.... these days
on wayland yeah you'll struggle
Yeah, just use X11 and you will be fine
but its not like your computer is unusable and its completely garbage
using an nvidia driver. it's never been all that terrible for me. performance in games is very good, very few glitches. desktop use is not quite so polished
They work fine if you use X11 and not WAyland
on the desktop AMD really does do better though
^
ye
AMD is better for Linux overall, even the drivers are baked into the kernel so no manual installation needed
On Nvidia, you need to install the drivers yourself
unless the distro gives you that option during OS install
I need to digress there, AMD was always more of a mess on linux than it ought to be for me
odd
my laptop is AMD, though I've never gamed on it desktop use was perfect
I know Minecraft will run better on AMD than NVidia due to the Mesa drivers
it would not support 360hz on linux, games tended to be glitchy
so essentially you didnt use the gpu xD?
well i mean everything on the desktop is still gpu accelerated
its not like the desktop environment is software rendered is it
on nvidia I'd get random bugs that just arent present using an amd gpu
unless you do something weird it's not using the 3d render pipeline
desktop environment is gpu accelerated (at least on gnome)
yup using gnome on the laptop
And Gnome 45 puts the cursor onto its own thread so it will remain mega smooth
Gnome is so good on laptops <3 especially if your touchpad can do multitouch gestures
ye
Direct2D or whatever the vulkan equivalent would be would be used, your desktop isnt going to used D3D for rendering a text window
works well for me. once a week it likes to throw an error and I need to log out, that's kinda it
Actually it does use GL or VK
surely not the same 3d rendering pipeline though
you're not telling me notepads are rendering while using a depth buffer for shadows xD
Oh yeah probably most fancy crap is disabled becuse it's not needed

would nvidia work with 360hz tho xd
will depend on what you use, multimonitor seems also still be an issue with high refresh rate
and amd works fine for a friend on linux where high fps isnt glitchy
so still not a one shoe fits all
yeah I only use a single monitor. X11 is better for gaming, but it does only draw a single screen on multiple monitors, so there are issues associated with that
god I hate descriptions like that
mention all the different specs aside from what it actually has as chip to power it
that is not the u series in that config though?
yeah with a 144hz and 2 60hz displays the compositor in plasma is locked at 60
So fucking expensive
Yeah ;-;
same on Gnome
though I found a way to force it at 144, results in screen tearing on the other 2 but I can live with it
if i go down to 120hz it's fine though since 60 goes in
I remember fixing it once, I can look up the env variables that I set
yea i set some
took me so long to find them online
so i have them stored in multiple different places
so i dont ever lose it
because i cant deal with the compositor at 60hz for some reason
understandable, since I have a 360hz screen, 60 looks like liquid shit to me
same but on 144
though im thinking of sidegrading to a 120hz or something 1440p panel
well ig upgrade
just upgrade the second screens to match hz ez
actually, try forcing TearFree using xorg.conf
Why do all the Tuxedo portable laptops have Intel CPUs? ;-; only their gaming ones have options for AMD
Just lowered my idle power consumption by roughly 20w Before I had issues with it on plasma but now it works fine after forcing a software cursor.
Plugging in 2 of my monitors on my igp.
Decreased the idle power by 40w or so on the gpu at the cost of 20w of power consumed by the igp.
Let's see if there are more issues, but so far seems to work fine.
would there be a amd cpu that would offer the same?
Would any USB C to HDMI work on my laptop?
I tried using the Steam Deck dock but it didnt work
Then probably no
File: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf
Identifier "AMD Graphics"
Driver "amdgpu"
Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection``` this is likely to fix all your outstanding tearing issues, awesome setting
oh woops! then you are FUCKED
gonna upgrade to amd eventually so ill try remember xd
There are older types of usb to hdmi dapters that actually run over usb those may work but most usb-c display adapters work the same and if the decks' dock does not work, neither would any other one.
(I don't actually know, I just haven't tackled multi-monitor on nvidia yet)
having mild tearing on the secondary monitors isnt really a problem for me
forceCompositePipeline in the nvidia control center app
you check both boxes
and reboot
or i can go down 14hz and just get 120hz on the main
24 even i can do math
probably wont even tell a difference
I used multi monitor just fine on Nvidia, tearing can also be fixed on xorg, the only thing that does not work is adaptive sync on multiple monitors under xorg or actually having a usable system using kde plasma under wayland.
oh, if I use it for Display Out, I wont be able to charge it at the same time
I'd rather be on xorg at tbh
1. In NVIDIA XServer Settings, disable OpenGL flipping, then set ForceCompositionPipeline=On for both displays (Display Configuration -> Advanced... will need to save to X.org configuration file).
2. Put the following in /etc/environment (144000 = 144 Hz, adjust accordingly to the highest refresh rate between your monitors):
KWIN_X11_REFRESH_RATE=144000
KWIN_X11_NO_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1
This results in perfectly smooth, tear-free animation on the high refresh rate display, and lower framerate, still tear-free animation on the other display. Note that I am leaving out the "KWIN_X11_FORCE_SOFTWARE_VSYNC=1" setting, as adding it results in dropped frames.
Thanks to the kwin developers for making these options available!``` I remembered this post on the KDE bug report page, try this
Wayland FTW but Nvidia drivers are slowing its development WAYYYYYY down ;-;
They must make janky workarounds to get Nvidia working on it
still get like, micro tearing on the other monitors
Better scaling
I think wayland sux overall, I enjoy staying on x11
Okay good luck having adaptive sync working on multi monitor setups
good luck having hdr in the future
I don't use adaptive sync or HDR
still strange that Valve choose to use X11 for Desktop Mode, despite game mode being Wayland
hdr doesnt even do much yet does it
or 10 bit colour stuff
apparently steam just doesnt work with that
Steam Deck can do HDR if connected to a HDR Display
kwin isn't that good with wayland yet, probably for stability reasons
They have support within GameScope compositor for HDR
I mean Wayland is simply the way to go, yes it takes a damn long time to be there for every usecase. But Xorg just lays to rot right now.
xorg is gonna be very much still used until nvidia gets their shit in order with Wayland
^
but we should really be pushing Wayland as much as reasonably possible, best way its gonna improve is to make xorg no longer an option
I think fedora are thinking about dropping x11?
as a user, I don't profit from using wayland yet. I can't even disable vsync on it. fuck this noise
yeah that's fair
From what I heard it works fine in Hyprland according to my brother.
Of course you will not have overclocking or certain config options.
I personally don't mind the current situation, for desktop use vsync is not bad to have and adaptive sync is a thing.
Not saying everyone should switch right now but the time will come.
it's probably going to be good when I do. currently, I prefer x
Plasma does not like it when you try to set a 75MB large image as wallpaper....
OOPS
Thing is there are far to few people actually writing good bug reports so trying it from time to time, reporting / upvoting the bugs you encounter helps the transition later on.
yeah
pretty big image
my wallpaper is just black
worth it though
I personally would only use one I made myself, but now I just lazily follow the default one for plasma every update
I have this random russian building as my wallpaper, I just really like the photo
just with Plasma 6 taking longer I am getting bored of that mountain.
Wayland vsync off has been a thing I've had for years since it was a hard requirement for me
Also something that is possible under wayland or will be soon for everyone that does not use Gnome.
I heard KDE can disable it, but not gnome
wdroots also allows it, were the first to do it.
Really just a Gnome issue more than anything at this point.
as usual lol!
Yeah I should probably pull that into my branch now, too lazy though since it means having to deal with merge conflicts..
On higher refresh rate monitors adaptive sync + vsync is fine mostly.
For me at least.
That is my use case for my main monitors
lol
Though at the current market value not that extreme a win.
any1 else have an issue where if you're using a sensitive profile the keyboard sometimes bugs out and begins to stop registering keys
idk if its cable or what
switching profiles just bugs it out
bretty fucking good
I've used the new Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 for 1 month now. Here are my thoughts on the new gaming mouse and my experience using it. This video is sponsored by the iCue Link: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/s/icue-link

oo hek, thats cool
GHub has a feature to copy over the speed and sensitivity and shit from another logitech mouse to another one
so if you got the previous mouse tuned perfectly, and you get a new one, it lets you transfer over the exact same settings and it will feel the same
most people that will use a superlight 2 will prob just set a single dpi step
I have only one DPI setting too cause i get headaches if my mouse speed changes
How do I figure out my batch?
in the Wooting Hub :D
Thanks a ton
If you link your Discord on the My Rewards Page, you will get the batch role in this server and get pinged when there are any updates
I HIGHLY doubt these slides are real
And why are they getting so much publicity come on
they are real
Source?
its perfectly adding up to what people said about things?
sure looks like a presentation slide of something somebody's planning to make
its some server slides with stuff focused on whatever that presentation needed to show in regards to turin
Also generally chips and cheese is a good source.
Not sure if they are real / up-to-date but they are plausible.
its clam extrapolating from a slide that mlid first showed but people know the slides are real/plausible
That's a nice PC
Too much RGB
Ehh not really corsair fans would of been worse imo
But they're so pretty
Yes

They are I agree. Just the cables are a whole other story. But corsairs newest lineup are nice
That being said I will definitely swap out my QL fans as they die. Those RGB fan covers seem to be the best compromise for RGB and efficient fans.
Then I can ignore the RGB aspect and grab high performance fans that are ugly 😄
I have a 3070 ti... sad 3070 ti noises playing resident evil 4 remake
Everyone gets tired of rgb eventually
at one point I just changed it to white
and eventually just turned it all off
Yeah, that's true that's why I went less rgb instead all rgb fans
My next build I'm just going to use Silentwing 4s for all of my fans
phantek T30 are the top dogs
same
I'm hoping for more mesh side panels
like the Fractal North
I like tempered glass when It's done right
or some open test bench
I forgot about the phanteks fans
Test benches ironically aren't as good for cooling components that need airflow, like ram and ssds

When you plug in the charger this bubble apprears around the battery icon for a few seconds
Very neat
I wish I was that easily impressed
i have a 3.0 5.25 with 10 ports lol
it has 2 hubs inside
takes a pcie 6 pin for power
Im just glad Google are doing more to add more hints of Material You into the OS
and this is agreat indicator to let you know it started to charge
cause before it didnt have anything othe than the symbol inside the battery
On stock Android without wireless charging*
ye
Wireless charging has its own animation which will show the battery percentage
I'm finding a cheap outdoors 5G router that looks like something from a retro FPS
That looks like the optional upgrade for the propeller cap so you can control the weather
But does it walk?
pretty sure that it would find its own spot if I let it loose on the roof
zen4x3d and zen3x3d doing the same fps makes me think they forgot to remove the fps cap
yeah tell us the same thing in a week
LOL
Global menu's in kde were not great last I used it, at least not multi-monitor
it doesnt show the menu bar for apps on the second screen
unless you also have a global menu on that screen
Im just glad there are widgets out there to add the app name and window buttons to the panel also
I have the titlebar remover itself when maximised and the buttons move to the panel
It also doesn't work on every program
cough cough Firefox
Actually there is a firefox version on the AUR that does work with that
goes to show it has been a while since I last tried one.
But most of all I personally found little need for it. sure it has it's niceties but end of the day nothing major.
I now just have a task manager on every monitor showing the windows open on that monitor.
I just like global menu cause it gives you more room in the app window itself for the app
and in-app menu bars look so bad
even a lot of windows apps just shove them into the titlebar itself to save space, mainly IDEs and whatnot
I am running 27inch 1440p monitors I have enough space. and with the drwabacks meh not great.

Honestly I’d be interested to know how much you actually get done in between redesigning the Linux layout and tooling seemingly multiple times a week indefinitely.

Eh if you go Noctua that's not too wild, a lot of people will easily go for these
These are gigantic air flow upgrades
Not only are they much faster, they are also much quieter
The reduction in noise is a compelling enough reason to pay extra
db reduction is huge, and the static pressure increase is legit insane
For radiatiors these are gamechangers basically
Noctua need to step it up

Also the static pressure is very high
In fairness to noctua they seem to consume much more power
So they’re not really power efficient just can utilize more power
I am certainly thinking of ordering one to test but I don’t get to use my pc enough to order them for it

owo? This is gonna be fun https://www.phoronix.com/news/GNOME-MR-Drop-X11-Session
A set of merge requests were opened that would effectively drop X.Org (X11) session support for the GNOME desktop and once that code is removed making it a Wayland-only desktop environment.
x11 is one of the most widely used desktop things for linux
theres prob 2million other ones that no one has ever heard of
and 2 or 3 more popular other ones that some people have heard of
the usual linux stuff
The X Window System (X11, or simply X) is a windowing system for bitmap displays, common on Unix-like operating systems.
X provides the basic framework for a GUI environment: drawing and moving windows on the display device and interacting with a mouse and keyboard. X does not mandate the user interface – this is handled by individual programs. ...
its 40? years now
Linux is 40 years old?
the main issue i see is that this basically goes against the whole linux idea
i dont see a reason to remove x11 compatibility
if its removed someone will fork gnome before the removal and backport everything
and then we get yet another DE
Linux is 30 years old, but X was made for Unix-likes, and Linux is a Unix-like
its why usually people say *nix
Nah, it's more likely there will be a x11-compatibility package required for basically everything unless you're going pure wayland, which... you're most likely not
They could keep x11, it looks like progress for the sake of progress
A lot of apps still use xwayland extensively, so...
well the issue i have is that linux as its base is a nice idea like most unix style OSs but they splintered ecosystem AND that a lot of users are quite elitist is just annoying
Oh yeah
Ask someone about a weird issue and most of the time you'll get "figure it out by yourself" as an answer
But try to explain someone some Linux stuff in light and not-very-complicated-way they'll flock like seagulls, that's wrong, thata wrong, imagining convoluted situation they've only encountered
like id switch to linux if googling for issues would be easier, the OOBE would be better and the general ecosystem would be made for general users and not people who want to constantly tinker with their OS so it keeps working as it should
theres still a good chunk of audio and video issues on linux
For audio issues I have solution that hasn't failed not once for 2 years I'm on linux - install pipewire, if it's not working switch to pulseaudio
And for video mpv does everything
I do constantly tinker with my installations, but it's mostly to figure out easier solutions than there are available on Internet
Oh, for video KDenLive or DaVinci, for audio the most I've used is Audacity and FL Studio
It's clunky, but it works™
Fun fact though - I decided to go with UwU mostly because I saw wootility is available on Linux (unlike most of gaming peripherals software), you have proper support page and all, probably wouldn't preorder if not that
yeah this'll never happen
linux will forever stay fragmented and because of that, marginalized
USUALLY though if you manage to set things up the way you want once, they don't break but yeah, occasionally stuff does and it's a goosechase to figure it out
just wanted to game and I end up on 2h bugfixing mission
its sort of a chicken and egg situation
linux users want linux to be THE main desktop os but they dont want this whole unification etc on the otherhand either
true
if the options were linux is popular but only comes in one flavor or linux is marginal but I can make it the way I want then it's the latter for me
Makes sense to me, drop the legacy x.org session so it no longer has to be thought about. Xwayland is not going anywhere anytime soon so no need to worry about legacy support
One thing that became more standardized, systemd, has split community most probably the most
For one I'd actually be happy for single linux specification
But oh well, closest thing that we have to that is enterprise linux I guess
nah it's just normal people and then the systemd-hater contrarians
i.e. vocal minority hating on it
fwiw I'd prefer for systemd to be more separated, aka having systemd-mount, systemd-resolve, systemd-timesync etc. apart from each other, so you could pick and choose for common systemd base and other solutions
But yeah, I don't really mind systemd, it works, it does its job well, no problems with configuration or logging, I'm good
It wasn't meant for people who are using distros which use systemd after all
funny that the minority has a minority
with pop os i found out that not every distro uses grub 😄
grubhub?
systemd-boot
systemd-butt
Not kernelstub?
Solus doesn't either :')
I also learned the hard way for that one
AMD “System Lag” metric now available, only for RDNA3 GPUs The latest preview driver adds a new metric for certain Radeon users. can someone explain me what detects the input on a lekker switch#
a sensor that measures how far a magnet in the switch is away
A hall effect sensor? Realistically
magnet on switch and magnetic field sensor on pcb
okay thanks
Basically a magnetic sensor constantly measures the magnetic field above it.
The switch will send out magnetism even when idle, so that becomes the "0 push state" when calibrated. As the switch is pushed down, the field gets stronger, and the firmware knows how much from 0 to 100 that is.
Real chads would do a drinking game whenever the switch would ever report 0

i hope wooting releases a mouse to compete with the logitech superlight pro x, one day
Wooting has no interest in the mouse market
i know, just a hope and a glimmer in my eye dream
wooting has been the best keyboard i've ever had going on a year now
Are you an engineer by any chance?
unfortunately not, i was just watching optimumtech make a mouse, and i just was dreaming you know
Wooting is very much hiring, if you have any cool ideas for a revolutionary new concept in the mouse market like the rapid trigger is in keyboard market, and you propose prototypes to the company
You very much can be hired and make it happen
yeah im wondering how much can they innovate on a mouse, not like you can do rapid trigger or tachyon on a mouse
make m1 and m2 knobs 😜
You really can't
Mouses are kind of at the best state they can logically be I reckon
ye just slow improvements
As far as mediums for interacting with electronics go, I think the next big step is very much direct cognitive control
"Mind commands"
But that's way way way beyond Wooting's capabilities
i just hope for a TKL or 75% wooting keyboard in the near future at this point.
VR/AR is the next step forward
it has to get light enough and less "sweaty" to become a mainstay, even then people don't like things on their heads for extended periods of time
but that's a ways off
U pay customs, a lot of fucking customs.
Did you not read the conversation.
It's in regards to Discord icons.
oh my bad
@pale sigil Well, since we're also selling custom made HEDTs we'd want to serve our customers the best peripherals out there, that would include the option to choose a Wooting keyboard
therefore my company has some plans to do so, but it all comes down to Calder at the end
sounds like would be a good 🤝 deal
for some reason we're gaining popularity among a niche community
well, for now it's just plans and shit
we don't really know if we should go the next step
nor do we know if Wooting would be able to handle it since they're already at their max capacity of production and orders
So even if Calder would agree to it, chances are that batches would be pushed further into the future for everyone
yeah the demand they got is huge right now
maybe with an extra warehouse 🤔
the whole rats tail too. Shipments, manufacturing, etc.
yep
could be tough but possible nonetheless
gotta know what else they're currently dealing with
other than that we'd have to ask customers if they'd like to have that option to begin with
if it's not wished we won't pursue it

but truth be told? Our first 500 surveys came in today and we had a 80% positive answer to that
So there is a demand for it to deliver a Wooting Keyboard included

good initial data
it's just insane how mouth propaganda's spread. The customers especially like the idea of grabbing their keyboard, go with it wherever they want and not bother with reconfiguring or downloading anything
plug in and be 100% efficient, anywhere, anytime
Ok this isn’t about any wooting products but a mate of mine just upgraded from a crappy pc to a decently high end one and after 3 days playing on has suddenly been banned from any game he plays, no explanation nothing just straight banned for no reason, no cheats or anything either. Any idea about fix?
Apex and rainbow. He isn’t using cheats or anything like that he just randomly got banned. I think it might be a hardware issue but don’t know
if he got a pc from someone who got hardware banned on those games maybe xD
No brand new parts and he tried booting up his old pc and was banned on that as well
idk sounds like he might not be honest then
That was my first though as well but he showed me all his files almost nothing on and definitely no cheats
the chance its some random accidental ban or something is way too low
can happen sure but nothing anyone could fix beside him writing to support and them finding it out
Yeah I know, thought I’d ask around and see if anyone had any ideas. Thanks though
99% chance it was cheats
🤔
Possibly but I’m like 99% sure it isn’t
False flags do happen but that doesn't sound like one
Both games he tried were on steam so probably a issue with his account rather than his pc
So so vac ban
Not really neither of them check for steam info as it’s EA and Ubisoft games
VAC bans affects apex and rainbow?
yea six siege is
Still launches uplay so just as an overlay kinda
Tbh it could be cheats but I doubt it. Thanks though
It’s not me so I’m not to fussed
Friends try to lie out of shame
True
When it digs a hole more
I got my friend to admit his ban once and I told him it's better to be honest and he was and doesn't hide it anymore
People do stupid shit
cheating on both six siege and apex sounds like a money waste
Agreed though apex’s anti cheat is terrible. Honestly the amount of hackers you run into is unbelievable
you mean easy anti cheat?
yes
Easy Anti Cheat. Easy stands for how easy it is to get past.
none of them really work great
Gotta use spyware if you want to be effective
games need to be more like dota 2, any cheating you can do there is so soft that it's close to irrelevant
only cheat ive seen lately is one where you have an indicator to know if you're being seen by the enemy team (if there's a ward or if you're in vision)
I rather jump off a cliff (in game) than have more games be like dota lmfao
I miss when games were good
same
yeah I miss when it was 2023
By no definition is that game indie
I'd say Larian are right in the middle. A non AAA backed studio that managed to punch way above their weight without any major release scandals.
AA is far away from indie still
ive played more hours of indie than AAA, ive finished like 6 or 7 indie games and only 1 or 2 AAA in my life
Even indie is on a curve.
Larian has about the same number of employees as BGS
Is indie merely self publishing? Is it a certain amount of staff?
There is no hard rule, only a lot of opinions.
So it's an established AAA studio
I think what dictates game quality is game size and studio quality
so if it's not an individual or small team it can't be called indie (?)
Bethesda is about same size as Larian, maybe smaller
They are easily both to be considered AAA
Bethesda is a daughter company though.
BGS is the game studio
unless its related to racing in indiana ofc

Heyyy , would someone be nice enough to explain to me quickly if the Woothing two is easily moddable ? like changing the case and the key caps ? i know nothing about custom keyboards... Thanks.
thank you very much
What should i be looking for to change keycaps ?
is there a reference ?
same as any gen really
What's a t variant?
Ultra HDR on Pixel 8!
So a dark filter for added crispyness?
No
Generally speaking 25 people or under is indie.
Not really sure when you go from Indie to AAA, there’s never been a clear cut definition.
let's go
eventually it will come for us all
This is just a Kanban/Scrum tool, yeh?
yes but it also can do SQL and UML Charts and every fucking chart ever spawned by man
and idk how tf to use any of it

What's it's pricing model?
30 day free trial
or activated by business / academic server
idk the pricing for that
nope not at all
Their installer on Linux is very easy though, I was impressed how easy to install it was
I mean what exactly can this do?
Yes
idk shit cause idk how tf to use it :/
but like 95% of the UI is covered in options and toggles and lists of shit to do
its very overwhelming
is there easier to use software to make UML charts?
cause I wanna know
this is painful to use
Astah as well, maybe.
oh rip, maybe someone in the AUR packaged it
gimme da samus emote plz
just use one of the dozen options running in the web
LucidCharts looks easy to use, got to make an account to even just demo it ;-;
so make an account?
check DMs
Can confirm Lucid is pretty nice to use.
Very friendly.
Yea probably have to work around that one soon.
They stopped Premium Lite in the Netherlands only to introduce it in Germany.

I hope Optimum tech just posts the files after the fact
isn't that optimum's 3d printed thing
yes
my guy just wants to make money and pull out
honestly, an ordering period and fulfillment of those orders, and that's it would have made more sense

$35 or something
if so I guess I can manage to find an old viper v2 pro and the kit next month
Double that
itd like 60 I think
