I haven't seen a single PzH knocked out, if that's what you mean
But yes they aren't really being used by the manual
well they get knocked out by having to get repairs
pretty sure russia reported blowing up a few of them
God damn this is fuckin funny https://twitter.com/flightradar24/status/1703827299412455459?t=Ik3DlpR2C2Vw0HWN-wN97g&s=19
False
as expected
I mean they claim to have only destroyed more himars than were deployed
Which is funny cause not a single HIMARS was knocked out either
yea
everything that even remotely looks like one counts
Pile of trees might've been a HIMAR in disguise.
YOU COULDN'T KNOW.
Better mark it as a kill just to be sure.
I mean how much further back can russia go with digging out tanks
how long until they deploy the good ol toyota pickup with whatever welded on the bed
Hey.
It worked for Chad.
Ngl they're probably the second best military in Ukraine.
Push Russia down to #3.
I mean in the right condition a toyota is a damn effective weapon

the numbers don't lie
There are pics of Hiluxes with tank shells through the engine block and they're running with half an engine somehow.
Like if it's surviving that it'll survive anything.
well
you still need someone on the inside
ig if your two options are either bleeding out in a wet trench somewhere while someone films you with their drone to blast music over it or having a short but explosive time in a hilux the choice would be clear for many of them?
tbh
they would be omega fucked if it came to that
I mean at this point only a matter of time until they start digging out T-34s
If this happens it's going to be so fuckin' funny.
Was that not their entire war doctrine for WW1 and WW2? Actually all of their wars.
haha big weapon go brrrrr
lots of soldier go brrrrrrr
I mean
winter go brrrrrrr
yea kinda
just like
how fucking cheap can you make it
while still being able to actually do anything to a heavy german tank
so uhh
has not changed much ig
well yea kinda
ukraine is just getting enough support to not curbstomp
I really like the following saying about the russian army:
The russian millitary is a large and modern military, just the large part is not modern and the modern part is not large.
A DMZ? Lmao no.
Dude you know they blew up an M300 with an Australian cardboard drone launched from probably Estonia.
As long as the west keeps support up and I assume Europe can pick up the slack even if the US tunes out a bit, I think the most likely scenario would be mostly a Russian defeat.
But at a large cost of lifes and infrastructure.
Oh yeah for sure.
They'll go down but it'll be kicking and screaming.
Thoughts of nukes though? They for sure have some probably functional ones, but given their cluster munitions have a failrate of 40% I'd be surprised if they got an actual nuke off.
It depends, I feel like if the regime falls the most likely course of action is it's replacement wanting to make peace.
Like maybe a gun nuke at best.
I don't see Russia being able to actually maintain an implosion bomb properly.
Or a fusion bomb.
The problem with the nuke scenario is that while sabre rattling about using nukes is useful, actually using them is not.
Nukes are a hard line for china, and China turning against Russia is pretty much game over.
They really do not want the nuclear taboo to be broken, as that would significantly increase the odds of Taiwanese and Vietnamese Nukes pointed at them in the future.
If Russia goes that far they have to send a message that it's completely unacceptable.
well their rockets keep launching properly...
Rockets are far simpler devices than an implosion or fusion bomb.
I'm sure they have a few, but nowhere near the stockpiles they claim. High maintenance deviecs.
Anyone got a spare 4090 laying around?
I’ll buy for $10 but willing to negotiate
damn that’s actually a good price
too bad i’m broke asf
how much did you buy it for?
if only i needed that much gpu power
i only play cpu intensive games unfortunately
seems kinda messed up to spend 1400 on not even the full die...
@vagrant pagoda had a lovely clog today, petg turned into a ptfe tube
Oof
Conformed to a 1.5mm ID due to steel rod and I could see light, only when I took the hotend mount out the mgn mount did I determine why 1.75mm plastic did not fit
I had my mmu2 do almost the same
No wonder people hate those
Yet somehow Bambu labs got a reliable one
And it looks pretty too
Yeah mmu is like what 7 years old?
If you mean resin ones, probably the current hobbist standard for resin machines, despite them being market leaders they are innovating too
Probably
Now there are a bunch of options though
Enraged rabbit carrot feeder, trad rack(closed beta I think still) and ROME
Rome basically combines several extruders together
3d chameleon and mosaic are ancient ones too
If you want an fff or fdm printer do not go elegoo go with a bambu labs p1s or build a kit yourself, even now asian companies are copying each other on fff and fdm with larger Cartesian with heavy beds that really should not exist but I will say they are cheap and for cosplay I guess whatever
dual 43131 is not bad at all
Rome?
That is Rome, very simple
Probably costs more than an mmu with 3 orbiter extruders though
smh linux copying from windows again

Bro please don't tell me you actually recommend Gigabyte.
Gigabyte is fine
Literally the worst first party GPU brand in the western world.
I speak from a lot of experience.
Would rather buy Jiggy than Asrock
Yeah nah brain dent take.
At this stage I've cycled through a few hundred GPUs, Gigabyte consistently has the most problems.
I have had far better experiences with Jiggy than asrock and definitely better experience than ASUS, so fuck you
Asrock has board issues and sometimes software issues. Gigabyte has issues everywhere but usually software, Asus has light software and hardware, MSI is usually fine unless they fuck up in which case it's bad.
But Gigabyte consistently performs by far the worse.
Jiggy will always be my go-to unless there's a better option like XFX or Powercolor stuff
gigabyte is great if they offer something like the aorus boards and you are willing to tinker to get it working if needed
its the worst option for recommending unless you want to fix peoples pcs
Basically yeah.
Like they can't release shit in a stable state and charge top dollar. F tier brand.
At least when Asrock releases something it actually performs as expected short of a hardware failure.
Everyone has different experiences innit
only one is wildly shared on the net though
Jiggy has always been nice to me, I'd go with them until they fuck something up on my end
Yeah that's a nice sentiment but when the global average is 'gigabyte tends to fuck up more than the others' then it's you getting lucky.
Always remember you need to get lucky a LOOOT of times, but you only need to get unlucky once.
Gigabyte is not good at that.
It's the same logic for why EVGA is beloved by nearly everyone that looks at them. Short of bad hardware failure they pretty much... don't die. That's the overwhelming opinion, it's not based on fringe 'B-b-b-but it works for me' logic.
Already miss EVGA. :(
I'm coping on amd making a big gpu so no evga anyway
Ok but like...
Imagine if they did.
Big AMD perf go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Do we even know why they chose not to go AMD?
I just want the „we have mi300 at home“ gpu
You mean in general or why they didn’t got amd after they stopped with Nvidia?
Both ig.
Probably just deals or maybe wasn’t worth when they started bc I don’t remember when they entered gpus
And after he ceo said they are still upholding the relation so it’s tradition kinda thing to not do the business Partner bad
Yeah ig that makes sense.
Honestly I just hope we get EVGA motherboards. Those were historically just always good.
Lol, this court thing is insane
Xbox-next got specifications leaked already through court docs
yup and MS got a boner for arm but I dont see that going anywhere
Silicon:
- CPU: ARM64 vs x64 (Zen6)
- CPU: Balance of Big/Little CPU Cores
- GPU: Co-design w/ AMD or license AMD IP (Navi 5/RDNA5)
- NPU: Balancing the desire for flexible, programmable ML silicon versus high performance silicon for targeted workloads
- Forward compatilbility
Graphics Innovation:
- Next Generation DirectX Raytracing
- Dynamic Global Illumination
- Micropolygon Rendering optimizations
- ML Based Super Resolution
- Extensibility Model for Faster Iteration and Innovation
Thin OS:
- Lacking Thin OS for < $99 Consumer or Handheld Devices
Zen 6 is in quite a while
Does AMD have some sort of AI FSR in the works? ML based super resolution?
this is for like 2028 releases, ofc they do
In 2028 we'll prolly have Zen 7 lel
but its also a massive joke they think they can make their own arm chip vs zen6 for some reasons and have it be profitable and not get fucked by sony who could get a year early or so
DoA on arrival feelsbadman, adopting zen 6 when zen 7 is out
You sure Microsoft is toying with the idea of doing same thing Apple is doing?
the biggest wtf is wanting to use arm when they could push devs to support windows and xbox better by not having different things
a console is not a mac where lower power arm designs can just come in and win
like they need some insane people out of nowhere to somehow beat amd and intel
AMD could probably give Microsoft a better deal than what it'd take for Microsoft to design and manufacture their own SoCs
Is this what we call, mismanagement?
idk could be a long term plan that might win I just dont see how
Under NPU part, they mention "flexible, programmable silicon".. isn't that just FPGAs? And as it happens, AMD has acquired world's cutting edge FPGA tech manufacturer
yes fpgas are part of it, they also have their own AI chips
all this is like 1.5 years ago though so stuff already changed
My GPU AIB tierlist is:
Asus
Asrock
MSI
Galax
All good. Then you have Gigabyte in the F tier of F tier.
Galax is a bit of a sleeper, ngl.
Yep, defend the bois from Gigabyte. Facts.
Galax/Palit/kfa and I think pny are all the same but not known in the us since some of them only sell Europe and Asia
Galax from Hall of Fame cards ofc
That was the one not pny they all are palit
Ngl tho Galax is just weirdly good compared to the rest.
Do they have different BIOS engineers or something?
No idea
But palit are nvidias biggest AiB at times
Had like 40% share in russian Nvidia sales and such
Damn alright.
Bahaha... Musk is threatening to make Twitter a paid service for all.
can he wait till threads is available in europe

yall following your government?
Considering how people won't pay a buck for an app on am appstore, I think this will cause a majority exodus.
Governments are reacting to this by setting up their own mastodon (and likes)
Imo? Twitter needs to die and everyone really needs to look at Estonia for how to do government tech.
Those guys are so much further ahead than everyone else.
It's not even funny.
where should they go
Estonia just made their own stuff.
They fully digitized their entire government structure.
nah i mean the twitter users
Bungie rn
True
Sad they delayed oversoul change
Ok ok but hear me out.
and so on
Hear me out.
Just move to bluesky
I like a discussion platform that isn't 3 good sentences, and I like my news in format that isn't cancerous.
I don't want an Instagram account
all the good people are there tho
I don't want to use Instagram or Reddit, because both platforms constantly pester you about using the app.
ye

Actually so effective, ngl.
twitter just needs new management
Yeeeah nah.
like no one was annoyed by it before the elon stuff
Twitter has always been a toxic shit platform, Elon accelerated the decay but he didn't start it.
depends what bubble u are in
Not really. The platform has always had a shit UX, the search algo was never great, the artificial limitations are dog shit for no reason, and the bots have always been bad.
It doesn't matter what echo chamber you clamber into, the platform sucks.
Guy knows. That's the only use of twitter.
I liked Twitter tbh
It was good for news and for me to follow artists
But thankfully 90% of who I follow moved to bluesky
Yeah it was great for just following news of different sorts
Modern version of tailored rss feed kinda
I liked the platform for...
...Art
EW
WTF IS THAT
That mouse looks like a ripoff Razer Basilisk
That keyboard is disgusting
Fun to know we are taking one from Switch's book
I hope they don't release that keyboard and mouse cause fuck me it's ugly
Frame Rate Interpolation?
That's... promising
That's a move to temporal up-sampling in a way, which is amazing

it does look like something from space though
so I give credit for that one
not sure if that even classifies as a case
its not very pocket-able

what's wrong with that
if it sounds good, good for them
would not just trust one reviewer tho

I think it also depends on what sort of Gigabyte product you are suggesting
Afaik, Gigabyte mobos are pretty top tier
Gigabyte GPUs? Below average, meh
They do monitors and they are alright afaik
no its pretty bad all around
Looks quite nice

So, instead of 288 P-cores, they put the worse ones there
Is there genuinely anything good the E cores at
Is that their most expensive iem?
Oh wow didn't realize the 4090 matrix was doubled the price
👀
Imagine spending $3200 on not a full die
Lol nowhere near
But tbf I don't see the point of spending over a grand on audio
in-ear reference monitor sounds like what it probably is, a tool
bretty cool, but if you just want to listen to music, there are headphones for that purpose
unfortunately the line does not tell you everything but it is an idea of how it sounds
of course, you don't hear with your eyes, but it should give you an indication what they are meant to do
so what i said
it is an idea of how it sounds
but on the point of there being headphones for that purpose, there are iems for that purpose too
random chinese companies release one every week these days
yeah
there are literally iems that are like
10k
but the only one i know of is apparently absolute garbage
they have surprisingly many above the 1kbux mark.
I suppose that they must be selling quite a lot, else there wouldn't be that many in the price class
crazy
technically if you sort by rank the elysian annihilator is above it
which is 3700
🤓
but both are S- so 🤷
"One of"
oh
id idnt read
my bad
end of teh day tho crinacle is just one guy
apparently the iems i use are "broken" to him but to me theyre pretty enjoyable
One guy who have heard a lot more than 99% of people though
still just a guy
the "best" is highly subjective in audio, there is a lot of marketing involved
@prisma crag
Someone trying to make $50 glass pads
thanks intel fors this useful slide
if you just want a glass pad you can get one that size for like 20 bucks from china
it will be so next++
you would not belief
next but MORE of it
Where's the last node
Lgg already have the saturn pro in 1000x500
indeed and its 120€ :E
god even girl clothes dont cost so much
deskmat mousepad is insanely stupid btw
Just buy 2 venus pro
just get a cheap deskmat and put your 500x500 or whatever pad on top
Ezpz
easy
Venus pros are 37.50 atm
then they're diff heights and u go quasimodo mode
then there a hole that gathers bread crumbs
You can get a susvara clone for 1k if you trust aliexpress
not trusting ali with 1k
Im weird that I want deskpad due to keyb since its easier on my wrists
well mousing wrist actually too
And 4mm poron pads are the comfiest kek
On headfi and reddit
not like aliexpress reviews are trustworthy
I always look at the purchase count on aliexpress
It's China and hifiman are making huge ass margins on all their headphones
if I put this next to a bat, it'll really appreciate the 75khz noise
Kek
I think I would pick the utopia in the 5k price range
Wanna experience the beryllium drivers
Focal
Going for 700 now
Ah good to see that 14nm+++++ branding is back
We missed it
Heddphone 2 uses AMT drivers but not many people have them yet
Will definitely provide a unique experience
now I kinda wanna listen to a pair of susvaras. maybe one day
Gotta go to an audio show
Or lucky enough to live near a store
There is an audio show near me in 2 months
Still trying to see if I have time to go
canjam is also in like 2 months lol
sadge
It'll probably mostly speakers there
rn I'm trying to see if it's possible for me to go in my schedule
canjam would be a few hour drive for me go to, so ideally I'd go this year
interesting impression from one guy. considering he's testing headphones that are about 3500bux apart from each other
From what I can tell after a certain dollar amount, super high end is just finding the right flavor you want
People spend grands on nice tube sound
what puts them apart for you?
I see! thanks for the detailed response. I'm genuinely curious. I have okay-ish headphones, but pretty much all my audio is old ghetto analog shit. looking towards the future, if I ever get my arse up to earn enough money, to buy high tier shit.

I’m chilling with the 560s until I decide to splurge on the 800s
Would need new DAC and amp tho too lol. So I’ll probably be good for a while
I got myself an asus xonar essence STX for 70bux used on my country's equivalent of craigslist. it measures 124dBA SNR on line out and 110dBA on headphone out. I figured that was all I would ever need
there is also the STX 2, but it measures worse in independent tests, so it doesn't exist for me
Don't worry too much about measurements
After like 96db of range, it's kinda meaningless
What would be the appropriate upgrade from a 560s if not the 800s?
that it is. but if I can get 124dbA cheap and right into my PC, I'll do it! 😄
Hifiman if you can trust the QC
Edition XS sounds about right
800s has top notch imaging, but has a few issues in the frequency response
if you know how to eq/don't mind eq then it would be a good option
Arya is discounted to 999 atm as well
I also need to ask. I like my music in high quality, but a lot of it sounds like it was recorded on a wheel of cheese. would a pair like the Susvara make an appreciable difference, considering I'm listening to shit?
Kek prob not
I would reccomend focal if you can get over the shitty customer service and other issues
hifiman is a generally good option
audeze is good just needs eq
Yeah I prefer the neutral sound signature
neutral is in pure neutral or neutral as how our ears hear it?
That soundstage sounds disappointing. Otherwise not bad. I prefer neutral over “soulful” if that means bassy
one of my gpu fans (1/3) works with max rpm when my gpu usage is %5 and 45 50 C how can i fix it
Um I think as in how our ears hear it
Like not heavy bass and brighter highs. Present mids but overall not heavy in any freq
I figure it's better to demonstrate than to describe
you could eq anyheadphone to neutral
I'd personally reccomend a headphone that takes to eq well like the lcdX or a hifiman Arya
Personally I think the bass region looks fine
autoeq uses windows's default sound effect profile
no extra software you have to run in the background, you can just close out of it once you're done changing stuff
I’ve EQ’d the 560s to match the oratory profile or whatever but just prefer stock
I just used peace/apo
I think the dynamic contrast is kinda weak on the 800s
yea
So the bass doesn't as hard
Bass quantity is over-rated
Fair
Bass quality is
all the time
eq profiles can be hit or miss
everyones favorite sound will be different
I like my focal clears bass, really punchy when it needs to be
in fact the bass rolls off a bit in the frequency response
Yeah right now it's either, do I want to spend 1k for the clears or 2k for the heddphone 2
apart from poor sound quality, also a lot of cases where mixing and mastering are badly done or straight-up absent. lack of quality can be charming though, and create impressive walls of sound at times. so if a pair of headphones sounds similar to being surrounded by really good speakers, I should theoretically still profit from the difference. what do you think? it depends on genre after all...
A headphone with good technical capabilities will make those flaws sound worse
yep
I see! my wallet will be happy then
yup you can't make this sound good
out of my clears I can hear every flaw
the overall track sounds like it's been re encoded, or the microphone used was really bad
probably the latter
yea
overall there's nothing you can do to fix a badly mastered file
other than re recording your own
my Meze 99 Classics make it sound rather pleasant, at least to my ears. maybe that's the type of headphone I should stick with then
well the 99s aren't well known for their detail, that much is sure
6xx offers a similar experience
though I suppose the question is less "will the headphones make this sound good", since it's obviously crap, but "will they do a better job of playing it than less expensive models"
once you start getting into stuff that is higher end, it will reveal all the flaws and nuances of the track
anywhere from low quality samples to just plain bad equalization
a good example I would say for this is the blue archive official soundtrack release and the game rip version
yeah, okay. a lot of my music has flaws like this, of one kind or another. don't bother with high-end headphones then.
I hope the new mqa owners don't try and push into tidal again
what type or model would you recommend that makes crap more enjoyable? I like my 99s, but I'm willing to explore some new territory
first one is very harsh
1200bux
If he also has 560s make sure to compare them and let me know what you think

the first one has a lot more detail and dynamic range
the 2nd one feels flat and dead, lacks details the first one has and the bass is flatter and less impactful
not to mention just overall clarity
I can only listen on my low grade speakers right now. I'm in the middle of a move, and my headphones are in the new place...
Maybe one of the audezes, they are darker headphones
yea
but still as they are better headphones they will have more detail
less revealing but still detailed enough to reveal
Dan clark headphones are also very inoffensive
Lol how much to audition for the he1?
guess which one is the CD version, and which one recorded from an LP. winner gets... to be correct 💪
top is lp
or rather 01
correct!
let's go, there was less bass in there
I'll have a look, thanks!
lcd-2 would probably be your best bet
either that or the X
X's feel a lot lighter imo, but they need more eq
Did you ever buy those speakers?
nothing that was in my control
a mix of bad communication ig, said it's not personal but then ghosted me after that
oh well I'll just buy everything from crutchfield
rn college is rough, I actually am planning to change my major, I want to do UI/UX design
I think I'll like that a lot more
What is it currently
Social media management
I have written on my plan to Major in UI/UX then minor in general graphic design
Hmm yeah, the other sounds more creative juice
Make your portfolio website asap
yea, the analytical part of social media management I don't like
huuh. wait a few more years, and I can get these for next to nothing
yea I need to get a website, actually 2 websites
one for personal work and one for my Glaxes work
makes it harder for me but I'd rather not have my employers down my back
I will warn you that audeze like hifiman, have a shit ton of versions of the same name products
Kek, secret side hustle
apparently, this is a pair of Audeze LCD2 Fazor Series 54
definitely a lot of words!
But should still have the audeze house sound
I see. there is apparently an LCD 2 Classic series, that removes fazor elements to sound like the originals
I suppose this is "better" then
quotation marks very much needed
Jacona I have a idea in mind once the female 3.5 plugs go out on my clears
replace them with Lemo plugs
that'd be so damn cool
Hmmmm interesting
just like the utopia has them
they're really durable connectors
What's the advantage over mini xlr
Ahh
the new wooting cable uses them afaik too
yep lemo connector
I'd really love to also get a focal clear mg that's broken
I want the side grills from it
the hexagon pattern
Lol driver swap?
nah I don't want the drivers
just the grills
you can actually probably just remove the hexagon shape piece
to me when I was handling it felt just like a piece of plastic or thin aluminum placed on the mesh
Maybe you could 3d print something similar
the clear mg uses a only magnesium plated driver
unlike the original clear which uses the aluminum magnesium plated driver
so it would change the sound performance
real shiny
the mg does look better with the grills, but I do prefer the sound of the og and the silver color on the og
I'm showing the easy excursion of both the Elear magnet/driver (first 6 seconds) and the Utopia magnet/driver (the rest of the video) - at the press event at The Source AV in Torrance, CA
well this explains how focal drivers get so good dynamics lol
once the warranty goes out the mods come in
Probably also why they have the clipping issue sometimes
yea
Double edge sword for the tech
I'm not too sure if it's a issue on the utopia tho
maybe on the older one
idk about the 2022 one
idk why but anytime I look at the older utopia I just think
soccer/football
that centerpiece just gives me those vibes lol
Kek yeah
I still wish the utopia didn't have red in the centerpiece
weird design choice, doesn't matter once it's on the head
this thing also exists lol
HD 800 S Anniversary - High Resolution Headphones - 3D Audio Headphones - Sennheiser Discover True Sound - High-quality products and tailor made solutions - sennheiser.com
except the 800s aniverary looks good

this is just blinged out
It's very gaudy and overdone
ye
although ig it makes sense, it was done by a jewler
and it makes even more sense considering focals lower end headphones already have a similar nice looking design as sennheisers 800s aniversary
Wait wtf, why is intel down 5% today
Did their conference bombed?
Both nvidia/amd are down less than 1%
It is temptingn with the dividends
Play both sides so I always end up on top

Currently holding amd with an average around 40
I guess people "sold the news"
"Buy the rumours, sell the news"
market go down, market go up and also sideways
such is life
probably not enough ai, they didnt show RPL-R no efficency info on MTL
prob sell the news
Intel couldn't innovate its way out of a paper bag
algos think this is some big news event like quarter financials :p
oh they did show the 288 core that was thought to be dead
but timeline.. puts that again Zen5c
so its a product but..
Oh apparently I've said that before 😂
well one month is nothing in silicon timeline
end of 24 is the first sign of something new
Eh, intel was basically in lead for over 10 years and the last few years amd has had a much smaller lead. Places will switch again sometime.
theyre not paying much atm
like 1-2 %
I wouldnt get it for the divs
Intel built up a massive lead and was the clear winner for many years. Then they got fat and complacent a decade ago, and have been lurching forward into oblivion ever since
fabbing has too many costs involved so they cant start raising the dividend back to 5 % Jac
yeah in 2026 maybe
A single digit percentage dividend is meaningless if your equity cuts in half
Investing in a geriatric company is just silly...
I mean.. Have you looked at microsoft stock movement a while ago?
Microsoft at least tries to do something new and interesting
They went nearly 20 years and didnt reach AH from dotcom
until recently
Just swap timelines cmon
Bruh, i should have invested in the company I work for
ATH this whole year
nice hope ur getting some RSU's
I don't have any
Wish I bought some when I started working here
It's a pretty big company
199 for a.. CD player???
It's cheap compared to old Sony discman 😅
Doesn't matter tho since it's snake oil. CDs can only contain digital signal, 0's and 1's
yeah I know ? 😅
the DAC bit can sound different depending on the model, I quite love the sound of the old PSX when playing CDs, even though it measures quite horribly
but yeah, expect mostly the same
Really ?
I didn't know that 👀
oh yeah para
if they release a new decent quality cassette player I'd be down
Seems unlikely given how no tapes are produced.
still boatloads in circulation
Circulation - But for how long.
And unlike CD's the material is important for quality.
And format...etc
unopened properly stored tapes probably lasts longer than most CDs
you got disc rot happening to a lot of old CDs nowadays
Doesn't matter. CDs are still produced and can be burned by any computer. Can't do that with tapes in the same way
we still have tape from the early 1900s that plays
we'll probably have cassettes around for quite a while longer
Granted, it also doesn't have a cassette player
my old xp pc has a dvd burner in it
its IDE so can't put it in my current desktop

thought about getting a disc drive again, got a bunch of cds and other media I'd like to go through before its too late
if it isn't already
those were still quite common when I started using computers, but I didn't have one at home myself
floppies only
external cd drive and thats it
what case even fits one these days without an angle grinder
my current case is from 2007 so it does
Whhoooo Scrap yard wars coming backj
lian-li fullsize beast
was still kicking among the C64 crowd well into the early-mid 90s here
most popular use was as a gaming console here
very easy to pirate games on cassettes
never had a commodore myself tho, first home computer we had was atari st
doom was the first one I played
yeah I played it years later
on a mac of all things
one of those beige 90s macs
Grandma had one, handmedown from my Uncle at Apple. Definitely made visiting fun with the entire library of games there 😄
This predated that. OS7 I think?
Nah, but ig it was inspired by it somewhat
The pfp was made with ai
3dfx was mostly the way to go until geforce came along
after some research and advice-seeking from other parties, I think I will go for the Monoprice M1070 instead of the Audeze LCD2, since they are of similar make and quality (allegedly from the same factory even), but the Monoprice will only set me back 200-ish bux on the used market, as opposed to the 700 for the LCD2
Interesting
Monoprice apparently made waves with the attractively priced, but highly criticized M1060, which were easily engoodened with some foam mods and pad replacements. The M1070 pretty much ship a M1060-modded sound. if what I'm reading is true
oh dear microsoft

Microsoft and AI is a gift that keeps on giving.
you'd once again be surprised at speaker guys spending far more for a cd player
Some vintage CD players also used R2R dacs
I think my father found some in almost working order on a scrapyard, they let him take them
Also fun project, any guesses what it does?
Its logic gates and wires you can see to clarify
@final flame you know much on TWS with 2.4ghz connections?
...you need to find a gal you can be steady with holy shit
basically nonexistent to my knowledge
damn
in the market for something like that for work Teams meeting and and casual on the go
Wrong answer, close enough though I suppose. It’s an almost finished ALU that can do 8 bit division, multiplication subtraction and addition. Spent about 50 hours on this. Probably a bit less but no clue by this point, I tried to do division faster on which I wasted so much time.
I see JBL Quantum TWS and Soundcore VR P10 on amazon
just dunno if they actually sound good

This is sweet. Next step would be verilog and then the board 😎
Indeed. It’s part of a project that is actually a whole basic 8 bit cpu with a custom RISC instruction set
One day I’ll hopefully finish it, most of the complicated stuff if not all is actually done, just need to finish the rest at this point
cool
looked like an esoteric game of Dwarf Fortress to me
Yah I went through this procedure last semester it was a blast. Have fun, I’m sure you’re enjoying it
or factorio
The factory must grow
🤖
don't remind me, I just ripped myself free from its grasp
It’s a lot of fun, sadly I am not doing it in uni yet but I plan to study electronic engineering next year
No worries, fact that you’re motivated now is very good, makes studying a much more pleasant experience
Which subject are you studying at which uni btw that you were doing stuff similar to this if you don’t mind me asking?
I’d tell you more but I think I would dox myself sorry haha, it’s in Norway though
Oh cool, same thing I was and plan to apply to.
wait you're orange now
I was orange before anyone was orange pft
Perhaps another day when I feel more risky
Ohh I just realized I asked you last time too haha what and where do you study.
No worries, feel free to ask if you have any more questions
again
Bexin needs someone he can be steady with
The most steady thing is a computer everyone knows that
now there's no distinction of senior mod and helper
Thanks for recommending Turing complete by the way, I did some stuff in it and learned some of the other basic stuff. Though for now I am back to VCB as it’s easier to make stuff not look totally messy haha
Hah yeah it can be a steep learning curve, though very useful for grasping the digital logic design course. Lots of my friends played it and scored a good grade lol
Reject Factorio. Embrace Minecraft. The factory must grow. IN 3D.
My join date only shows 2022 😅
Though was a year or two earlier I think
Satisfactory
Pfff. Satisfactory has no challenge.
that's Satisfactory
...
Tbf I definitely preferred game mechanics of factorio to satisfactory
It’s literally just basic math and stringing a giant line of crap together. No actual challenge.
Bexin
reject tradition
embrace redstone
Correct.
Embrace RedPower.
idk I have TFT brain rot, all I know is I must roll my gold
Can’t relate
Bexin indeed
Ngl tho Enigmatica 6 E2E very good. 👌
...do you need me to play wingperson?
No dw my computer is safe

And steady, always here
Can’t even begin to tell you how good MC is for working out legit irl deployments and redundancy.
That shit teaches you to have failover.
Failover or die.

pretty incredible binning
yea well given intels software woes, lets just hope it doesnt skip rendering the actual content
real impressive stuff
lets see how well it works tho
surface pro 10?
I think the interesting part of the intel iodie is the LPE cores
ah sad tb4
no tb5 yet
y tho
thats what, not why

pretty great 2 minute video on nerf
yeah all that money is in binning
why they took so long to release
meteor lake will be sick
hopefully should see solid ddr5 platform improvements too
i'll be chilling tho lol
6p10e could make for some really interesting ultra battery saving modes
Setting it to 2e only mode could probably get like 20 hours SOT for video
Hopefully panay didn't quit bc the surface pro 10 is so bad
MTL igpu should be really neat, the rest nothing much, laptop only parts like tiger lake are alright but I find them kinda boring
Swedish goverment now supports chat control 2.0 in EU

I love backdoors, I love backdoors, I love backdoors, I love backdoors, I love backdoors, I love backdoors, I love backdoors,
Sadly, Sweden was needed to vote down the proposal in EU with Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Poland
Gelsinger is pretty annoying
Isn't his background a hardware engineer? Cause the lad really loves yapping his mouth like a marketing genius
He’s a ceo
A very vocal CEO
If he talks hardware specs the board has him booted in minutes
The problem here is not pat but the question
Ofc they look at tiles and 3d stacking
But if you ask something stupidly generic you get a stupid generic answer
will be fun cooling a 13900k with 3d vcache
(although it would probably be lower clock and all then)
User Discovers memory leak?
absolute revelation
Rust doesn't prevent you from loading the memory full Of stuff.
That's not what memory safety means
Have not received my 60HE yet but am concerned about the reported requirements for voltage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8ojU_8ASVE) and the resulting inability (potential) to attach the 60HE to a USB switch (which I need to use the board for both business and private PCs without having to crawl under the table every time I switch over).
I wondered if anyone tried a Y Cable to supply voltage from an additional USB port?
Like this
Just...get a powered USB hub that isn't cheap
KVM switches generally aren't an issue with power but whether or not they actually follow spec and properly forward ALL USB devices and protocols.
Hubs often have a power option but switches usually don't (at least not as often)
I have a powered hub that I don't use currently and could attach the 60HE to the HUB (for power) and the Hub to the switch (for .. switchiness). But this does not sound like a good plan atm.
Again - The switch needs to properly pass on the data. It generally isn't a power issue 🙂
Thx. Will just try and see what happens.
didn't know rust had an ai-powered garbage cleaner
I got a 1440p monitor 2 days ago
its reallly nice
but i had a curved monitor so the switch to flat feels weird
lmao they even got the denons in there
m50xs
sheesh the 250 ohm ear killer
this is really cool
can't wait to see everything featured, both mics, iems and headphones
sennheiser mics I think
I love how detailed this strain relief is
anime about igorrr recording sessions

Gnome 45 is beautiful and so polished
They did take UI design from MacOS Monteray though xd
The full height sidebar
Good change, Plasma Discover recently added this feature too but it only shows up after you uninstall the app
been running gnome 45 for weeks now and it is definitely the same but better
looking forward to when they finally decide to reimplement the system tray. that's pretty much the only feature that's missing 4 me. maybe they'll get there after... 15 years...
that said, things like font rendering in GTK 4 look a lot better recently. everything is crisp
Im glad they made such huge Mutter changes
Cursor gets its own thread now
fractional scaling on Wayland that is actually implemented properly
before 45, fractional scaling was basically a hack, it scaled to 200% behind the screens and then scaled down on the display
oh I haven't noticed any of these! still on X11, but I always liked the way mutter on Wayland scales things. cursor getting its own thread is a smart as hell decision
I don't remember where I read it (I think in some ubuntu engineer's writeup), but it was claimed that Mutter shares the majority of code in the whole desktop environment (sans applications), and I totally believe that
It was funny, the channel called babyWOGUE used to demostrate the surge in CPU usage when spamming the cursor in circles really fast for like 20 seconds back in a few of his videos xd
so now that should not happen
or less anyway xd
the polar opposite of win95 then
reminds me
the file explorer in windows 11 becomes faster if you fullscreen it
you can window it again as well
just have to do it once
and it loads in the contents of a folder quicker
wtf
yea something is wrong with it still
my one gripe with win 11
it sometimes randomly gives an explorer window focus
huh??
yea idk
I just close all explorer windows after I don't need them anymore
mind you, not a thing that happens super frequently
like 1-2 times a week maybe
you saying if you have an explorere window open while doing other things, itll just randomly focus the explorer window?
Nvidia cutting prices to better compete? The new AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT and 7700 XT show some impressive stuff from the new Navi 32 silicon... and the 7800 XT is competitively priced too. Rich has the lowdown on AMD's impressive specs and performance, but is it enough to counter Nvidia's cutting-edge new technologies?

the turbo nerds at DF have gotten around to testing the new AMD cards
and techpowerup screwed up testing the new cyberpunk update
oh is that bug still not fixed lol
I remember at launch GN mention it wouldnt apply changes in menu till restart or so

heres at 1080p, that was at 4k
the most unoptimised game ever
nah
anti-optimized for your benchmarking pleasure
this is just pathtracing
aaah I see ^^'
basically everything you can see is raytraced
that's why
but it shows how far behind radeon is on raytracing
😅
yeah that's kinda bad. not a big fan of RT, but it does make for nice shadows
PT makes alot nicer everything
and yet in metro exodus enhanced which was also RT only its not nearly that bad
neither cyberpunk nor exodus are rt only
cyberpunk pushes it an incredible distance tho
where exodus is only a few feet around the character
Technically Exodus is
no
enahnded edition
The other edition
yes im aware
enhanced edition
Enhanced ye
neither are full rt
I thought that what it's whole thing was
cyberpunk does more,
Not half assed rt like the original version
still EE RTX does not hit nearly as hard on amd as CP does
again this is partial rt
and only up to a certain distance
cyberpunk will raytrace the entire inside of a building if you stand in the right spot
exodus will raytrace certain lights
at the end of the day it's raster performance über alles for me, and AMD scored a slight edge over nv's midrange here, which is nice I suppose
100%
RTGI is not the same as what they did in cyberpunk
rtgi raytraces from lights to geometry, then rasterizes the geometry, also allowing you to just give up after a certain distance
I wonder how bad it'll run on my system lol
gonna get back into wow classic soon, let's see if I can get ray traced shadows to work on loonix since I now have a card that can crank 'em
lets just say theres a reason that FG gets enabled by default on 40 series...
Xd
Either way no game ray trading has really interested me except for tomb raider
Even then only because it ran pretty well on my 3080 and it's just better lighting
I was quite impressed by the quake 2 ray traced version
Additional SDK Support
Microsoft® Agility SDK Preview Release v1.711.3 including Shader Model 6.8 functionality for Work Graphs, Wave Matric and AV1 Encode.
Microsoft® Agility SDK Retail Release 1.610.5 including Enhanced Barriers and Vulkan on DX12 compatibility features.
New AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag+ Game Support
AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.9.2 introduces Anti-Lag+ support for Starfield, Witcher 3, ELDEN RING and Immortal of Aveum™.
Up to 45% decrease in latency across select titles when AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag+ is on, using AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition™️ 23.9.2 on the Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX GPU in select titles, versus when AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ is off.RS-597
AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag+ features an onscreen overlay that can be used to display the system latency of supported games. When Anti-Lag+ is enabled, the onscreen overlay can be toggled on using ALT+SHIFT+L hotkey.
Toggling the hotkey will first enable the status indicator of Anti-Lag+ (a white triangle), and then display latency in ms or number of frames.
To compare the difference between Anti-Lag+ and Anti-Lag, hold the DEL key. To compare the difference between Anti-Lag+ On and Off, hold the right CTRL key.
Use the ALT+SHIFT+F hotkey to monitor FPS when Anti-Lag or Anti-Lag+ is enabled in the game.
I always thought that game looked boring and shitty, RT made it visually interesting
I mean.....
It's old
Lol
and that one is also full rt but shows how much geometry affects performance
I knew your vacation wasn't going to last long, mate's back to his old tricks
Because mansen didn't wanna add me to a channel via perms
there were older 3D games than Q2 whose visual styles I liked
Un-admin'chated
Old and competitive
sure but rasterized 3d was new
prior games were usually precomputed or 2.5d
the remake looks amazing
(I liked Q1's style for that matter)
yeah! I enjoyed that one a lot
remake made the gameplay a lot of fun
Found it @ashen spindle
This is what they were doing in Exodus
This is the new insano cyberpunk mode
ofc
Good
but it looks alot worse
I want the game to run
btw the new dlss works alot better in the rt mode
I havent seen much testing, but you should be able to get decent fps and quality in rt perf or even ultra perf if you have 4k
3080 right?
dlss 3.5 sounds great, natively supporting the rays from raytracing

Drat. Someone actually beat me to this - But I just remembered. I live in the capital. There HAS to be a 3D printer wiz nearby. SOOOOON

Indeed
Universal platforms are a good idea
Germans should have learned about standardization during that one war
eh
the main thing why it is a good idea now is because the germany military is horribly funded
with a lot of vehicles inoperable because there are no replacement parts
holy smokes the last one looks ghetto
