They definitely have that reputation well deserved but I will also admit that it fit's within the lens they are looking at things.
I think they are honest enough to admit it if amd's tech is on par or better. If FSR2 was trading blows with DLSS quality wise, they would probably say so.
Reminds me, just a thought. Would it be possible / viable to use an upscaling tech like fsr2 selectively on a scene?
For example rendering characters full res but rendering the environment at a lower res.

They definitely have a bias towards visually better tech and pure visual fidelity, over other factors. And their sponsored Nvidia video's certainly won't do them any favors.
If amd comes with some revolutionary new tech that doesn't work on Nvidia I am pretty sure Digital Foundry would still value it.
Personally I really hope they don't as I really don't like the way we are moving away from open / universal standards to vendor specific code.
To be fair it's hard to judge tech by what is clearly a bad implementation like that but yea...
