Considering Google has gathered a lot of data via the recorder app this honestly feels like the next pixel drop. That said the Google recorder is very cool.
It's time to take my PS5 Pro report a bit more seriously ;)
PS5 Pro releasing November 2024.
I am going to assume that PS5 and PS5 digital will be cancelled as products and PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro will be the new offerings
I am having difficulty finding out what a WGP is
Apparently it's a WorkGroup Processor
But it doesn't appear to be either graphics CUs or CPU cores/threads
Ahh, as per videocardz "30 WorkGroup Processors (WGP), which refers to large clusters of GPU cores as per AMD’s terminology. This would be the equivalent of 60 Compute Units compared to PlayStation 5 featuring 36"
Potentially major performance boost, would it be based on Sarlak perhaps technologically?
no it will be semi custom like all consoles
A car has a human-akin brain
Elon, I hope you get your ass whooped by Zuck and snap out of it hopefully
How does this man keep getting dumber everytime I see him?
he dosent
Actually that's wrong, but also right at the same time. Lemme give you a quick run down from someone deeply involved in the motorsports and tuning scene: An ECU adjusts the fuel injection by measuring air pressure, density and flow. Your car will use much more fuel in an area way above the sea level, i.e. a mountain.
If we're talking about stock factory cars right off the production line, then yeah, you don't have to fiddle around with the ECU, unless you want a more efficient engine and more power. In that case an ECU tuning can take weeks to months. Basically mapping the entire ECU from the ground up
Less fuel. You use less fuel at altitude.

actually iirc it was more, because you'd have to adjust the amount of fuel to achieve the same bang
Mansen used Confuse
it's super effective!
Google agrees that fuel is less at higher altitudes - in theory anyway.
i mean it kinda makes sense given that an explosion inside the engine requires a specific amount of air, but at the end the equation wouldn't
lemme check my notes
nvm, you're right
but then again, fuel efficiency goes out the window at altitudes, because the car produces less thrust
resulting in a poorly performing engine
other than that i wouldn't particularly say an ECU is the brain of an engine. After all the electronics check a given value (air mass flow), comparing it with a table and adjusting the fuel injection according to the programmed table
That's like @reef patrol getting a list of a Batch and counting on how many keyboards arrived at the warehouse to validate
what would be the brain then if not the ECU?

In that particular case? The driver. He's supposed to adjust the speed given all the circumstances. State of the road, upcoming traffic, condition of brakes, tires, etc.
unless it's a Rallye, in that case the Co-Pilot is the brain, especially when Sammy's at the wheel

speaking of cars, i should treat my rotary ladies today. Haven't driven any of them for the last month
a red line a day keeps the rebuild away
Too many xD
Mazda loyalty
I just came.
Pictures needed immediately
How in the fuck do you afford all of these and why haven’t we been friends already lol
Because i'm currently running my own IT company and was a CEO of a bigger one previously
like 400+ employees big
Better stick to something you love to work at. Turning your hobby into your job can be a nightmare
Yeah true I’ve seen that
What country do you live in? Can’t imagine it’s in the US
definitely not, lel
germany
companies like Apple and Microsoft would immediately try their best to push my ass off the market if i'd operate in the US
im curious, is anyone here in tech/work as engineers who need a better way to do remote configs (also lmk if this isnt the channel for this)
AnyDesk and call it a day

Sry to say, but it doesn't get simpler or easier than that
configurators?
a friend of mine has a company that helps with pushing code out faster for a/b testing, and was curious to know if its a challenge people are facing
Not really. People found solutions to this like ages ago by now
i.e. LTT uses TeamViewer for years, others like to use RD, then there's the AnyDesk faction and some others like IBM have their in-house programs for remote stuff
in fact you'll barely meet a business with 100+ employees who don't use their own in-house program
not sure i follow, when i say remote config, its not remote accessing though
Damn americans are lucky
25k mAh laptop charger for as little as 30$
it is also not 30$
Typical another generic chinese brand buying up shit from some chinese mass produced factory probably
At the time it was posted, with codes and rebates it was 29.97$
And it was 4 hours ago
keep in mind it's without taxes
Depending on where you live in the states it can add up to 45 bucks pretty quickly
It still confuses me sometimes if americans themselves talk about prices without taxes or with
batteries are one of the things I don't really trust buying from unknown brands,
Not worth the chances
I get it that stores will in U.S list prices without tax
But do americans when talking about prices list them with tax or not? I have no clue
yea that's america for you, not to mention every state has a different tax amount
mostly without taxes
and honestly? I'm kinda surprised there's no defined tax for the country in total. I mean the US pretty much changed the world significantly over the last decades, but the can't handle something as simple as introducing a general tax
or explaining to people why a proper healthcare system would cause less headaches for everyone
taxes in the us are a total joke when it comes to the system behind it
you not only have the sales tax, you also have your income tax
the government won't tell you how much you owe for the income taxes, you have to figure that out yourself, or pay someone to do it
and if you're off on that amount the irs comes after you
honestly, i have a german proverb for that: Buy cheap and you'll end up paying twice
What is it in German?
idk, gimme a link of it and i can tell
Henßenflügel or something like that
not surprising that it's a single word to describe that
there isn't
No, i was actually thinking of doing a bike license, but i couldn't find a bike i'd like to ride
I’m really fucking tempted to buy the truthear Crinacle reds rn
Go for it then
They are solid IEMs
Not for me I still have my K702s with no interest in anything else
Although I do want to try out R70x somewhere
the days of not knowing what you're buying for audio are kinda over
for headphones and iems at least
the price of entry has also lowered an absurd amount
Anyone rocking any artisan mousepads?
no
Isn't everything an endless sinkhole the more you dive into? I.e. i've spent months configuring my current daily PC and i'm still unsatisfied with the result
don't bother buying one unless you're some pro playing for high stakes money at tournaments
every hobby has a extreme
gets annoying seeing people compare hobbies to others and comparing the extreme with the budget for both of them
Damn but I like their quality and reputation
Plus their aesthetic
you won't like the price tag tho
I have a custom deskmat from inked gaming, it's a nice pad that has a custom design
if you want aesthetic get something custom
I have an all black aesthetic
or get a GamersNexus mat
Which is why I like its minimal logo
then any pad will have "aesthetic"
logos are ugly imo, having a large logo on a pad is a massive fuck you
Nothing can beat a nice GN mat on the table
unlikely
but i'll forward it to Steve and the team
Tf is a self healing thing?
So nice
RPGs in real life?
Basically an emo on your table
So self-harming mat
Interesting, will look into it
I have no clue what these are
How are they self healing?
they're cutting mats
They made from some putty or what?
you slice materials on them, designed for razerblades and rotary cutters
Right and how does it mend itself afterwards?
Why else would it be called self healing
I'd assume it works on the same concept of self healing fabrics
like you see on tents and such
By all honesty tho, getting some nice equipment for yourself doesn't improve you magically the moment it arrives. It only raises your maximum potential to improve upon. It's if i'd sit you down in my GR86 when you were dailying a damn Fiesta
Maybe they are made from some high density silicone or something
Silicone's a good surface, hard to penetrate
Unless you're NoVideo and running dogshit voltages to your GPU just to beat the competition
Eh, what
Silicon, Silicone, and Silica are all different materials
I think I’d do pretty good

Silicone rubber is what the talk was about
a corsa?

One of multiple transgressions
Surgeon and historian Jack C. Fisher sits down with Dr. David Granet to discuss fundamental differences between silicon and silicone. Though the fear surrounding their usage was unwarranted and not based in scientific fact, battles waged about their safety and government regulation followed suit. honestly, the most modern Mazda i own is my RX-8, also known as my sexy rexy in her small black dress
lel
actually the rear passenger doors are
but i love them the way they are
Can’t wait to steal your 4.44 diff and wheel hubs and put them on my NC
I really love that the RX8 and NC share so many parts
I think a rotary swap is easily doable with the subframe
if you wanna keep track of what's going to happen with the car: VINwiki
sadly it's only able to register US cars properly
uh... am i smelling a brit over there?
well, no
oh, i see

I’m gonna invite rainbolt over
same, people can quite easily find me just by seeing the first 2 letters on my license plate
i'm living in a town with 80k people after all
Well, the 1st few letters before the dash show exactly to what province the car belongs to
and looking for a house with at least 2 JDMs always at the doorstep in an 80k Town isn't that difficult
heavily tuned ones at that too
Do you have pictures of the cars? Or would you prefer not to send any
This is rather annoying, go back to tech talk please

i'm actually upset about the fact that no one even remotely tries to understand how rotaries work and how to rebuild them

Well, except a few ones tho. Rob is definitely an exception, especially with the 12 rotors engine on his hands
definitely
My dad got a lot of hate for making his own custom hot side coolant reroute in the old Miata forums
no one could agree on how to rebuild the turbos properly
They banned him and permanently made his name Peter Pan
I think that’s where I get my name from lol
The fact that U.S still doesn't have a hypersonic missile interceptor when their research into the field is at least 40+ years old is weird
But eh U.S fields what's useful and then spends many billions on R&D that will never be used
But I will never, ever forgive you americans that you cancelled the 75mm ARES gun project
Because there was no real reason to until NK tested a missile with a potential distance of 6.5k kms of range
Yes that's what I said
U.S only fields what's useful
But then China develops their own and now U.S has to play catchup
that's what the US does for years by now. They're playing catchup since the 80's
Which is funny cause U.S is so technologically ahead that it's criminal that they just stash the technological reports until needed, and borderline never use it
Like the future combat systems program
criminal, you say
Technologically ahead? xDDD Ask any murican electrician if there was any way of smart homing before Google and Co. stepped in
little hint: No, there wasn't. It became a thing in the mid 80's in Europe and pretty much created its own thing over here called KNX
You are completely misinterpreting what was said
I was talking about military, you started talking about home decor
Even when we're talking about military technology the US is far behind forces like Japan and South Korea
it's just cheaper for them to buy it from the US and modify it to their needs and systems
power line wiring for signals...
Kinda gives me D-LAN vibes
but yeah, it was a short living thing over here too
in fact it was short living here, because power providers introduced their own Electricity meter signals to the system, which caused all kinds of problems when you had such a system built in your house
nowadays these electricity meter signals are used to see how much each house uses
just launch Link at these missiles, he can handle it

This is the story of our adamant refusal to let something like gravity keep us down.
In the short two months Tears of the Kingdom has been out, there has been a continual arms race between players to try move Link as quickly as possible. This video is about one type of vertical movement technique that has emerged as a result of this activity: ...
people thought a Jet would be fast, till they saw a hylian swordsman flying at mach 1.6 without gear

My dad had this. It was a product of its time, and zigbee etc is much better
Alexa and Google is only the voice part.
https://twitter.com/JakeuFPS/status/1690694994338701312?t=VZIOmbRQfUa30rSaF2uDXQ&s=19 holy dogshit specs
Yea no shit
Data rates you get now with lora etc are much better
Entirely unsurprising
What's wrong with those specs
They look pretty good if anything
Lightforce switches afaik are Logitech's high end so, pretty good
Hero sensor was good afaik, they are putting an upgraded one in
Battery life seems low at 95 hours but for me it's not an issue, just plug the cable in for a few hours and it lives on for days
Looks like a good mouse, a bit expensive though but that's all "high end" mouses

I still hate giving these machine learning algorithms the denotation of "AI"
When the majority of people hear AI they think "Well it must be able to THINK!"
I know that was part of the marketing hype machine, to make it seem bigger then it actually was. But I feel a lot more people wouldn't make dumb mistakes like this is they were informed it was really just an advanced statistical engine with no understanding of what it was reading.
@cursive summit laggard/middle of the pack specs wise. high end price. 2k wireless when most already moved to 4k
2k is perfectly capable though?
lightforce are just garbo tier opticals
that is not relevant, since it's a comparison. prices don't exist in vacuum
you're always competing vs other models, which offer better for less
Why?
They are rather new
And the few opinions I've seen said they are nice
iPhone SE rumored to have normal phone features that Apple gatekeeps so you pay 2x more for the main line of phones
When iPhone SE itself is over 2x the price it's worth
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Google-Pixel-Fold-review-Foldable-smartphone-with-decent-camera.740806.0.html @wheat plume You liked this phone or something
All the testing you could ever want
Really unsure why Google is so hard bent on using Tensor
Does not compare favourably at all to Snapdragons
Maybe they save a pretty penny doing so
i generally prefer JerryRigsThings to see a point of failure in advance
JRT doesn't test a lot of things
It's fast enough
If you did not know they are moving to tsmc now
it's oddly satisfying to see him break phones
It's on Samsung 5nm, not sure how much more they will get by going TSMC
It will cost a lot more that's for sure
Would also be cool to see Google use a mediatek chip which could not have camera downsides if Google used it
Or... just use a snapdragon 8 gen 2
And one of the higher end Sony IM camera sensors
Like the im585
What you have to understand about that is Google polishes the sensor software handling over time
Google and Snapdragon is pretty much a never ending debate
Snapdragon is good and all but they have a US monopoly and honestly snapdragon dragon chips every few years have a dud chip that loves to drain the battery.
still better than Samsungs own Exynos trash
as much as i liked my S22U, the Exynos Chip in it was basically garbage compared to the Snap 8 Gen 2 in my S23U
Guess Samsung just is not serious enough
There was a time galaxy devices had exynos chips here
i already hate them for the fact that they're going to use the Exynos bullshit again in the S24
Can you not import a snapdragon model?
It doesn't work like that. We're using different bandwidths for calls over here in Europe
most of the exynos issues seem to come down not to chip but node issues, the last one missed gpu clocks by some few hundred mHz since they couldnt get it to work on the samsung nodes or so
Correct, but if you can find a site to compare versions you might get the bands you want. Like the Taiwan version of my phone has slightly more bands and would work perfectly in the US.
Then there's still the problem with warranty
Also in addition to that exynos drains more battery when idle if I remember correctly.
already did back then with my S22U. They're using totally different antennas inside as well as totally different firmware. Basically: US carrier networks aren't compatible with EU ones
well that sort of goes hand in hand, if the efficency has issues that affects lower and high power most likely
Fair enough
Interesting
not only that. The performance is worse, not just slightly, but by a big gap. The Snapdragon also consumes less power than the Exynos equivalent
After heavy software updates I presume
or tl;dr: The Snapdragon is better, faster and more efficient
the only issue is that Samsung has to buy the Snapdragon Chips, making it more expensive for them
That is understandable
that's why they love to stick to their Exynos crap
and no, the collaboration with AMD and a heavily cut down RDNA2 chip inside the S22U EU didn't affect it
I do not even remember anyone talking about it after the leaks anyways lol
on paper it should have blown the Snapdragon out of the water in games
in reality it didn't do shit
They'll be moving to TMC soon
yeah thats the part they failed on, the rdna2 ip on samsung node didnt manage to clock as high as they planned
That was already said and you also managed to misspell it
Samsung promised years ago that Exynos would catch up to Snapdragon in terms of performance and efficiency, but all i see is Samsung running after a pipe dream they won't achieve
Yeah
I hope mediatek can eventually make it to the states
The only drawbacks today is carrier bands, camera and audio experience.
On the other side though, better efficiency and even higher clocks.
is audio even a thing now when there's basically no flagship phone with a headphone jack?
BT is still miles behind a plain simple 3.5mm Jack
So exists like an endangered species
just use a dongle
Where headphone jacks really exist is midrange to low end
Ewwwww
it makes your headphone cable 3cm longer I fail to see the big issue
I mean on one hand it's a good thing headphone jacks disappeared, but in terms of pure quality there is nothing even remotely close to it when it comes to wireless stuff
The issue of Bluetooth audio is less the codec, and more the DAC and amp inside the device itself
If the device supports nice codecs like ldac
Also headphones need to support same codes too *
Oh okay
even if it supports LDAC, the phone has to support it as well. My Liberty Air 4 support LDAC, yet my S23U doesn't. It does on paper, but according to the debug logs it doesn't even try to enforce it
That is weird, that is flagship device
ikr
Essentially every flagship phone supports all the main codecs, so not really a issue nowadays
On Samsung devices you have to enable it in the Bluetooth setting not in developer options
This is how you do it on Samsung devices
Interesting how this setting gets reshuffled
i don't have that option
If the option doesn't show then the audio output doesn't support it most likely
Unlike implementing ldac on headphones and earbuds, there is no royalty charge to Sony to implement it on phones and other transmitters
nvm xD My fault, i didn't even activate LDAC on my headphones
That explains a lot
speaking of dongle tho. Anyone here saw the VR P10's so far?
basically the first market wide USB-C dongle to BT headphones for handheld consoles and more
and it allows charging as well while using it, because it has a Pass-through
Was there not a Bluetooth dongle for the switch a while back
there was, but with the issue of being bulky as heck and not allowing you to charge it while in use
Oof on the second part
yea that took me a while to figure out how to enable it too
I wanted to run my m6 on ldac so much since the default it goes to is always sbc
and poweramp always shows what the current codec that's being used
there's sadly no good way to see what codec is being used besides it being built into certain apps
can't imagine someone other than me uses PowerAmp
I have been using it for years
since 2019 I think
easily top 3 music players available on android
it was literally my 2nd purchase after SwiftKey back on my Xperia Ray in 2010
oof, i don't remember
ah yes, the music enthusiasts starter kit:
PowerAmp, some decent midrange headphones and monstercat music
lol, This was just what I was listening to last
Didn't want to blast weeb music on speakers
I like jmetal, The only metal band that's western I really like is dragonforce
can't go wrong with Volbeat tbh
stuff from the band release hallucination is really nice
although that's technically a subgenre, it's melodic progressive metal
subgenre or not, metal is metal imo
yea
i mean K cup cars are a subgenre of sports cars, but they're still sports cars, if you know what i mean
yeye
ironically metal is some of the best music to test audio equipment with
very difficult for it to be reproduced without distortion
especially when the mastering is worse for wear
lel, somehow even Spotify doesn't sound bad all of a sudden with LDAC
Take a listen to
Dystopia from Release Hallucination
That song distorts everything
only things I have that it sounds goodish on are my clears and 6xx
by all honesty? If i'm trying some new equipment i'm using a Flac-file Song from my N:A collection
Song of the Ancient
Where do you even get to most sons flac version or at the very least high quality wav
my brain immediately jumps into action mapping an entire EQ curve when i listen to it to make the best out of my equipment
greyzone sources tbh
Ah yeah that's what I already thought
List of places to legally purchase music in CD Quality or High Res
Tidal Online StoreDead

Qobuz Online Store

HD Tracks
https://www.hdtracks.com/
Bandcamp (Good for solo/indie artists, has a chance of getting fake flac)
https://bandcamp.com/
-Only available in Japan-
Mora

E-onkyo JP
https://www.e-onkyo.com/music/
Purchasing CDs is also a option too
Yeah, now I need to get headphones that I can enjoy high res audio lol
Depends, i'd specifically watch for CDs which only contain some DRM. So they're downloading the songs from an online source. I.e. i have a 5FDP Album here that does exactly that, because the whole album is actually flac-filed
6xx are the best gateway drug imo, and for many people that's endgame
at least as far as for headphones
speakers are kinda their own thing
if you're some electronic dance music enjoyer: Masters of Hardstyle series
They do the same and only upload their files in flac
Ok yeah thanks, but I ain't paying 600€ for headphones 😄
Honestly depends on what you're trying to achieve
is that really what they're being sold for in europe lol
if it's some good quality on the go without becoming bankrupt: Liberty Air 4
on Drop they're 200ish usd
if you can't find the 6xx for a reasonable price, then go for the 560s, that one is far more readily available
Amazon, but otherwise I see US shipping
I mean I don't even have Spotify premium.
The only headphones that support higher quality streaming, are my gaming headphones, Aptx HD.
well that's the 600, the 6xx is a 650 technically
Geizhals, THE app to go with if you're german
650s you can generally get cheaper afaik
That is an absolute, honestly based opinion
uh...
bruh
And yea I am German
Honestly, the max I would pay is 300€. I am somewhat thinking about the wf-1000xm5. The in ear
heeeeeelll no
Huh why
the thing is if you do get something like a HD600 it's only gonna be good for home use
it's open back so yea
the in ear wf's are garbage
Yeah I kinda want noice canceling headphones. And then in ear which in its self are worse than over ears
the wfs are fine as far as noise cancelling wireless buds go
the wh series tho are tuned terribly so wouldn't reccomend
i've tried countless in ear BTs for years till i settled on some Liberty Air 2 Pro's and Air 4 later
thing is
if you want to go for purely sound quality with bt, get a good iem and a fiio btr5
or a bluetooth cable
uh... idk if everyone's willing to carry a DAC with them
my concern is, my sis got the linkbuds s. 130€ cheap ish.
They sound better than i have i ever owned a headphone haha.
But my concern is, that my phone might have problems with high res audio bt streams.
When i enabled ldac on the sony headphones, it stuttered hard
my phone, sony xperia 5 III
could stuff it in a pocket like I do, but it also has a belt/shirt clip
the bluetooth iem cable is also still a option
well, yeah... you won't benefit from nice BT headphones if the phone isn't up to date to some degree
the in ear, would be like space saver. If I remove them they are gone in my pockets
I mean
it is a two year old phone with android 13, supports all major codecs, LDAC (SONY XPERIA 5 III)
but it is an ass phone
my honest opinion? Try some Liberty Air 2 Pro first, these already blow the Linkbuds out of the water
also maybe try a little bit of auto eq with wavelet
um
not necessary, Soundcore comes with a ton of EQ presets you can fiddle with and even tune it to your preference
eq presets aren't exactly good a majority of the time
tuning to a target then tweaking from there is the easiest way
how do I put it, I have always been using ear / headphone that arent the best.
Always used free streaming services
To add to, my phone is ass, spotify and every other app will get auto closed after a while.
When the phone:
A: is to hot (which is 70% of the time)
B: Feels like it
C: Every app crashes
what are you currently using now?
Wavelet is basically the same thing except it also has the auto eq feature built in
and works for everything you use
other than that Soundcore headphones come with ANC (currently not the best, but one of the best so far), hear ID (adjusting the loudness of each frequency depending on your personal hearing once configured), programmable buttons and much, much more
for the price point of around 100 to 150 bucks they're an absolute bang for the buck
sure, they aren't the "end all, be all" solution, but they're more than solid imo
the galaxy buds pro imo are the best bang for the buck tw bud you can get
got them with my S22U back then i hated them
they're tuned quite well
fun fact: I got the S22U a day before anyone else, with all the blows and whistles and goodies it came with, because my 30th birthday was a day before its launch

And Samsung back then at the order was like: Uhm... Ok, your birthday is the 24th and we're launching at the 25th? FUCK IT!
In ear: Huawei freebuds pro - noise canceling
When do I use it: at home in bed, traveling on my e scooter.
Codecs: AAC / SBC - 16 bit - 44,1khz
Makes my phone crash i think
Gaming headphones:
Corsair VIRTUOSO WIRELESS XT - no noise canceling
When do I use it: now mostly at home, on "road trips", as they are more comfy and how do I put they don't make me annoyed after a while.
Note: I have custom ear foam pads
Codecs: HD Audio enabled: SBC, AAC, APTx , APTx HD - 44.1khz - 24 bit
well, yeah, the buds are well tuned out of the box, but they honestly lack features i'd like to see at the price point they had at launch
like programmable buttons weren't a thing, ANC was awful by introducing white noise the entire time, etc.
Honestly, I will never buy a samsung unless they fix the screen for me
maybe they're better now, but back then there was simply no point in keeping them
?

they have shit PWM display controlled dimming
it runs at like 200-240hz or smth
which I can see the flickering - i get motion sick, nauseous whatever
1-120, depending on the situation
that is the refresh rate
I am talking about PWM
would actually be weird. I'm using Samsung phones since the S4 and Note 4 came out and never experienced such an issue. But maybe i'm not sensitive to that stuff
iphones have like 60hz -120hz refresh rate. But pwm is at like 600hz which is more than fine for me. and my sony phone, hence I also kinda choosed it
Yeah, only some people can see it
hence nobody talks about it
🫡
Seriously, I can see for a very very tiny split second notice the screen turning off.
If I watch videos, or look at in a car, i can get sick
hm.. the S23U uses a 240 Hz PWM signal
which is too low for me
I mean i dont have the buget to know at which point it is good enough for me
but on my friends phone (a samsung) i can see it
and i now i have 550hz ish pwm, which is perfect for me
back to headphones
this is what i am using rn
You must be some sort of prodigy if you genuinely notice 240Hz
Which I highly doubt
No ENCE fan will ever be that good
💀
yeah no
my friend shows me a picture
i say almost: ah thanks for me remindign to never buy a samsung
that'd be me then and im over 30 yo
yay im a prodigy
my sis laptop Asus vivobook 16x has 240hz and i can too see it (even stronger)
By all honesty? I did see a difference between 144 and 240, even jumping from 240 to 360 Hz i saw a difference. Tho none of them were such a night and day difference as the 60 to 144 jump
that is refreshrate i think
and i'll never return to 60 Hz EVER again, even on my office monitors
the difference becomes more noticable the more motion there is
dawg, i aint talking about refresh rate - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Why-Pulse-Width-Modulation-PWM-is-such-a-headache.270240.0.html
Glaxes, these are what i am currently using
apparently all my monitors, including my office ones are running with a 500 to 1 kHz PWM signal

is there a difference with eye tiring?
but I am guessing not, as well i am the first person to tell you that it exsits
oh i didnt know about PWM, rtings just say my main monitor is flicker-free
oled mainly has pwm
makes sense
ips etc not really as far as I know
actually that you mention it rn there is. I'm getting tired more quickly using the 500 Hz PWM monitors
compared to which screen?
but i guess to your phone eh?
i'll look into it tho, it's actually interesting and would explain why my eyes strain quicker on some monitors compared to others
#🐸│memes
yey a person that doesnt bully me for saying pwm and actually looks into it
:(
Do you have a budget? and would you prefer a iem or a headphone?
also is wireless a requirement?
id honestly prefer in ears.
As they are easier to store them fast aka into your pockets
As I mentioned, I have been thinking about the sony wf-1000xm5. 320€
But that is most upper limit of all the budgets
As noise canceling is decently important, if you are in a loudish enviroment than sound quality isnt really that important there
so around the 300 euro range max
is wireless a requirement?
yes, as newer phones dont have a headphone jack.
And in ears can be placed into a helmet
AKG N400 are one of the best options
Galaxy Buds Pro are also a good option
damn
the wf1000xm4 are also good from what I know
those are going to give the best in terms of anc
those are 200€
so 120€ cheaper than the new model, which came out like 3 weeks ago
I don't know how the new model measures so yea
so I can't reccomend the xm5 confidently
i honestly dont know how good rtings is, but I will wait for them to say smth
I don't personally trust rtings
as far as I know, the xm4 had the issue of the in ear pads (no idea how its called)
That after 6 months of using you need to get replacements
and battery problems
have yet to hear about that issue
battery problems will always occur at some point with built-in batteries. There's no way around it
the Arya is in RMA before the review even started
....arya?
no trusted measuring reviewer has measured the xm5 so I can't say for sure if it's good
Hifiman hifi headphone
I hope your RMA process works well
i mean in all procuts lines are defects
it is just how often they are
hifiman's defect rate is definitely higher than most
never heard of them tbh
then again you mostly see defects on hifimans lower end stuff
well known in the hifi audio scene
they're known for planar headphones
have yet to try any myself but they are a popular option, especially the sundara
okay
..why
Thought this was a new chrome hearts or hard jewelry release

What an unexpected turn of events on the Fremantle Highway carrier fire. According to the DPA organization, which quoted a representative of the Boskalis company, which will save the cars from the burned ship, after the first inspection, about 1,000 cars "seem to be in good condition". From our point of view, the most important
Wtf is "Memory Try It!"? in the bios?
dose it try overclocks?
Oo
looks like they only shaved like 3 grams off the superlight v2, guess I'll buy something else
How unsurprising

they ran out of emojis on the accel/ips or what
It's the new wave to get attention, lol
Also on another note don't know if i should go IEMs or Over-ears been trying to narrow down my search
do you know if it'll have the same look as the g pro superlight?
Everyone knew those
Yes
oh nice
Yes it's further up in those posts
It’s kind of worthless
so it's just spec upgrades
I’ll get it for the USB C
same
yea
I've got the G502X Lightspeed atm. it has the new switches and do quite enjoy it even if it's ''heavy'' according to people, using it at 800dpi and mouse pointer speed at 3
Way too heavy
I’ll have it as a backup mouse
Hit the gym
I’m not a pussy lol
But for gaming I mean
If you want stopping power, go for a control pad
Using an Aqua Control 2 with it

Nice 👍
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_may_bring_back_exynos_for_the_galaxy_s24_series_too_not_just_the_s23_fe-news-59309.php Don't really want to buy a S24 if this is true, had a S8 with Exynos and the battery life was soo bad, don't know if it just was bad for both the Snapdragon & Exynos but it really turned me off to buy any Samsung product with Exynos
It’s already too late.
idk man i just dont really buy samsung in general except one model cause... i thought sony removed the headphone jack
sure enough wont get another samsung either once this one dies
if its a new exynos theres a chance, not like they cant ever make a good one
Yeah there's a chance
Options for phones this year though would be the Pixel 8 Pro(Tensor with bad battery life probably) , iPhone 15 Pro(The Max is rumored to have better zoom lens though) , S23U(Best Zoom lens) , S23(Compact but battery life meh) , Oneplus 11(So-so zoom) , Oneplus Open(Folds still have the Crease so it's kinda meh) would preferably want a Compact phone with good battery life & zoom lens
The OnePlus 8 is decent still but the battery is getting bad
Trust me, don't go with Samsung
That is a lot of editing your message:
it's getting obnoxiously slow with each Update, especially when a newer one's on the market
What on earth is this feature
Yeah wanted to state the opinions of the phones
That too would be a choice
my S23U used to boot in mere seconds
now it takes about 3-4 minutes for a whole loop
Oh you have one 👀
Have the new One ui released or is it beta still?
the only real benefit and a significant one at that for the S23U is the pen
not helpful if you have abysmal motor skills
but if you never had the need for that you should avoid the phone
even without it the Pen has some features other devices simply can't copy
i.e. the pen can be used to take pics remotely, control your media, take screenshots, used as a mouse, etc.
the thing is…my name isn’t Ed

i.e.
I used to get therapy for that before they just gave up and had me type
pretty sure no other phone can mark stuff like this in Discord
Can do that with a finger on iOS
try it, it will show you a middle finger
nope, no middle fingers for me
you can only mark a whole sentence on the mobile client if you have no pen
Either way, didn’t specify that it would take an extra step
either that or I straight up broke something last time
wouldn’t be the first time
Hell, i can even hover over a link or something with it and the phone shows me the real end url where i'd end up
in some cases it even gives me a preview
it's more like the pen's an advanced mouse
I should finish off my soju tonight and play Minecraft with the boys again
Doesn’t mean I will
probably won’t
Least hostile Samsung user

Never liked Crapples closed eco system
especially not their shady methods
they really wanted to restrict people using 3rd party USB-C cables by crippling the tranfer speed
the EU said "Fuck you, Apple! We dare you to do it. But keep in mind we'll ban your shit outright here if you decide to do so"
i prefer to use USB-C to 3.0, because the phone supports it and it's way faster than downloading from the cloud
it's still shady af by Apple and they definitely tested the water with that idea. Because if they could restrict transfer speeds without punishment they'd also restrict charging times
So they'd force their customers to buy a genuine Apple cable and making them believe that the change to USB-C was a bad idea
just don't cheap out on something you intend to use for a long time

There's a reason why i'm using Volutz cables for almost a decade by now
yeah, they're definitely pricey, i get it, but they're definitely worth it
i.e. USB 2 cables are specified for theoretical transfer speeds of up to 480 MB/s. Their cables reach that limit in real use
Quite sad that this used to be in the device
Apple coulda made the device also thicker and slightly larger.
What used to be in it?
Well the headphones jack used to be on the iPhone before the 7 and I just meant the phone could be thicker and larger a bit like I got two USB c ports and a headphone jack
On what phone?
Rog phone line
Also in some cases no camera bump
Some people i know do not use cases and probably would appreciate a flat phone
Original pixel had a wedge design
No camera bump
What do you need two usb c ports for? That just sounds selfish.
Well I did not get it for that reason, but durability
One wears out I got a second
And if I play a game can charge with a cable not in the way
Also one of them has display port alternate mode
The Lenovo phone though uses them to boost charging speeds
🤷
I got it because I want to charge and use headphones at the same time
Or should I just get a usb c to 3.5mm dongle and use a wireless charger
What do you say.
I’m looking forward to your response
I’d like to use IEMS
My brother in Christ if I had wireless headphones, I wouldn’t be fucking asking would I?
Fuck wireless
Fuck YOU
He uses Apple devices

Buy the FiiO BTR5/BTR7
Wireless dac/amp combo :))
WAHT are u doin
I was referring to using IEMs with my phone lol
Right. Well the BTR7 itself connects wirelessly, and it isn’t like wireless charging
There’s a physical headphone Jack on it which you plug the IEMs into
then the dongle connects wirelessly
I just wanted a way to use my iems while charging my phone
I already have a wireless charger
Ordered a 3.5mm to lightning port adapter
Dumb way to do it lol
Wireless dongle (BTR7) then just charge your phone wired
Although since you have the charger now save your pennies ig
Kek imagine wireless charging your phone and wireless connection with IEMs
freed lightning port
No need for it though
honestly you just need the BTR7 now
Ok yea I was just saying
buy it for me
I would if I were born earlier
What does that mean lol

You can still use Apple pay when the battery runs out (ye ik technically it's not a fully dead battery)
When Volkswagen say "EV's: The Volkswagen way"
Is that corpo speak for "We made everything proprietary to force you to use our tech at whatever price we want to charge you for it"?
:context_missing: should really be an emote by now
:lanaposting:
Their new ads use that slogan
And what is the rest about
lanas hate for VW
no but i wanna know what they mean by "The Volkswagen way"
what is unique about their EVs?
They dont explain it in the ads
It’s a brand using their good reputation for most parts to say their product is done well
and...honestly
VW doesn't make shit
pricing isn't actually that good in the north american market though
Aka nothing special just a slogan

I would really like to stress this
it doesn't really matter how good it is if you can get a nice gas guzzler SUV for 10k less after all tax credits (EV incentives)
Do they make them over there or is it all shipped over?
idek if you get incentives to buy EVs in Ireland
and they are a lot more expensive than petrol cars
That’s why incentives exist
huh
the point is to make them actually affordable
enough to consider
the issue is that they aren't enough
they arent at all
pretty sure there's one plant in Tennessee
but the new VW EVs...I genuinely don't know if those will be manufactured there
to buy yes, to run no
yup
BYD just announced sodium ion plans for cars from Huaihai and cherry should make some with CATLs version this year still
Should drive costs down if it works out too
They’ve made petrol cars ridiculously expensive here. One full tank of gas can easily cost you a minimum of 90 euros, not to mention the 3-5 euro toll fee among others lol
Evs are very cheap in comparison

This is the first time I've ever seen a "smart" case
That is genuinely amazing
Considering that glass is horrendously thermally unconductive I'd rather have a metal or plastic side
Mesh walls seem to be the new big thing in PC case world
And I don't see how you can improve upon mesh
As open as it can be
how much BYD u got
nothing
I want to believe in better battery tech but I'm not trusting my money on it
not to mention it could be great but missing money targets for sales and stock goes down
why not? worst case scenario - you get an explosive
which in itself is great fun
I dont think stock owners get the product itself
also if you can make sodium ions explode I think you would be busy making your nobel price speech
stocks are a scam, imagine paying for something that doesn’t physically exist
The fact there are people who pay to get an unfair advantage in a thing they paid for that doesn’t exist while also risking getting their access to the thing revoked
i never said those people aren’t deranged either
Aqua computer has made LCD computer displays/controls for ages
99% of people just don't look at their case
The y60 has a semi official LCD too
Barrow makes a LCD that mounts to a radiator
But none of them are mainstream
People want a good looking pc
But don't actually want to look at it
Kind of like a house
should have reached out to wooting to show what mistakes they did with outdated software they used
Not enough money in it
Also laws.
They can charge 10x+ import drone prices for domestic to corporate and government
But the average consumer doesn't put that kind of premium on domestic
It is notoriously difficult to use drones in many places, either due to privacy concerns or requiring pilot licenses of some kind or police permission to film pretty much anywhere.
Not in the US.
Which is where skydio is
Us made security products can demand massive premiums, it's insane
A buddy works at a US based IP camera company
They are in LA
And have no issues affording to be there
The cheapest one they sell is a 1080p ip bullet cameras for $800 usd

And they move 1000s of them a year
Kek, I've always felt linus have lost touch with consumers years ago
Inb4 elon style meltdown
I mean it is piracy
It's obviously tech entertainment at this point
He never said he didn't support people doing it
I purely watch it as entertainment or when they get someone to show big IBM system or so
the tech reviews I just dont trust anymore
He just said people should admit ad blocking as supported content is stealing
yeah the adblocker take is pretty fine
Floatplane has no drm
LTT has long been entertainment with some charts
HAHAHA. Facebook just warned me that - due to using adblock, I had missed one post from at least one friend.
They're literally trying to guilt people into not using adblockers - Which I wasn't even using.
I've never seen that loo
Also that would mean Facebook is specifically designing post to look like ads
So that it gets blocked
They do some heavy obfuscation of elements to try and filter primitive adblocks.

I have tried to play contraband police on my Mac through game porting kit and let’s just say it’s very interesting
The cars are going like third of their speed
Animations are slow too
Text appearing too
And sometimes it slowed down more or less
It doesn’t seem to be frame rate direct correlation though
I honestly don't think the AdBlock piracy take is that bad. Legally they are different, sure.
But the bottom line is in both cases you deprive the creator of their source of revenue for the content they create.
It should also be seen in context of Linus not being that badly anti-piracy.
Oh god... Linus auctioned a prototype they were asked to return.
That's just downright criminal.
But yea that shit is insane
Lemme just say that without severe ad filtering on Facebook, it is legitimately unusable.
Every third post you scroll past is an ad.
They removed the ability to default to "newest, first" in favour of their "algorithm FOR YOU" style feed a year ago. And it is TERRIBLE.
I keep seeing posts made weeks ago, that I have already interacted with.
Of course, I will not deny that, though I have never used Facebook. I have also pirated almost everything for a long time and still pirate some types of content.
Just as a point that both are forms of freeloading morally is still valid and I would agree with that.
I can also see that blocking ads is the only viable way to consume content. My personal solution has been to block everywhere but pay for premium in a few places that really matter to me.
I wish there was some broader multi-site ad pass that worked well but there isn't.
guess wooting got lucky that plouffe "only" managed to not have web version working and not really understanding what RT and co can do lol
Personally I will keep my ad blocker on. Just find the amount of pop ups and ads everywhere to make browsing miserable lol
Yeah I have YouTube premium though but that’s just because I like the features it provides
best example for me is twitch, I would literally not care if there is a 24/7 ad spot play next to the video to fill the site when not on fullscreen
I would watch that, but not ads that overlay the stream
Definitely, that doesn't mean you are not freeloading if you do nothing in return.
I presonally have Premium Lite which offers no features just a pass to block ads in my mind.

always wanted to compare my 4090 to my phone /s
Well it is good to see tho
24.5 is a heck of a lot closer than it used to be...
tho i suppose it depends on how the benchmark is, if it is small enough to fit cpu+gpu inside of 12gb, it may not be the most detailed
My heavy hitters
was the gtx295 the direct contemporary?
i have 2, but 1 is dead as a doorknob
Both dead or just one side dead?
also such an awfully ugly gpu compared to its predecessor, the sexiest gpu ever made, the 9800gx2
I have 3 295. One is a single gpu
didnt wait long enough to find out before pulling the plug, i could see the mysterious blue smoke
The 280 is what the 4870x2 competed with
Single GPU vs dual
295 can almost match 4870x2 cf
295 SLI smokes it
Their dual GPU was better
280 sli best 295 handly
But 4870x2 was faster than 4870 cf
yea why tf did nvidia push so hard with the 480?
4xx was just there because of DC sales
were they aiming to beat 4870x2 cf?
yea but they could very well have released a smaller gpu
i think huang thought it would be a fantastic meme to sell a gpu named the 480 with 480 cores
i suspect once someone suggested it to him that just was inevitable
We never got full fat fermi
Quadro 7000 was 512 core
Just get it made
The cores are swap able
Buy a 7000 and a 480
Send it to a GPU realir place
but does it say its a 480?
oh i suppose back then it was possible to hack the bioses regardless
hmm
thats actually not a terrible idea
It will work with same bios
feels kinda cheaty tho
definetly cant get a 490 like that tho
between 7950gx2 and 7990 i have all of the dual gpus, and the only gpu thats messing up the pattern is the lack of a 490
Nonwait
The 7000 and 6000 are 384 bit
So it definitely swaps
That's most likely what the Chinese one was
yea its the same pcb
Unless you saw it in a box that said 512 core
did it blow a hole in the pcb under the vrm if you tried to run any load on it?
yea but it used a heck ton of power
oh right
yea the dual pcbs never had that issue
I mean it used twice a 275
The 295/275 is one channel and 4 rop short
That's why I was saying the 512 core might run slow
the single pcb 295 would have converted the mossfets into fiberglass breaching charges
There is a guy who swapped 285 cores on to a 295 and it ran like shit because of the missing channel
interesting
Got the extra 4.rops
but gtx970 issues?
That's why the 295 is like 890 mb
what
Not 1gb like 280/285
oh MB
It's missing a memory chip
i was imagining a 8900gx2
The pcie switch is where the missing channel is
And that stupid flex PCB which is what kills them all
Pretty sure it's a NF 200
it's impressive how far we have come looking at those old halo flagships and what N4C was supposed to look like lol
