protonmail imap needs paid subscription, that pissed me off
beyond turning on tachyon mode, no
Does Spring Swap make it faster?
if they'd just told me upfront
i mean, not really. its theoretically easier to press but its light either way. plus you could just set actuation very low
google drive is free, and there are free apps to sync google drive folders to basically any platform
they said they had an issue, i proposed a solution that works for me
You peeps need to learn some hack-o-nomics
Certain softwares can be license hijacked to get the full version, "legit"
To the point I keep getting even database updates from the official servers
are there not ios apps to sync google drive files?
so for some reson my keyboard isnt working
reddit says keepassium and strongbox both support google drive tho it relies on trusting those apps :/
thanks ios
not if you use it more
there was a critical error during the update process blah blah blah
communication with device time out
go to #1019755933959733258
be better if you skip the misleading and misinterpreting stuff so you didnt have to argue
and it doesnt save you from apple which at this point has been proven to contain bad actors
the only way to keep the data safe is to have the data encrypted before it enters the cloud, and not be relying on the cloud provider to keep it safe
and if you must store data in the cloud, its best to separate it out so that individual providers cannot have a complete image of you
I thought it was wise to assume anywhere you store data they can't be trusted
eh hdds and tape drives can be trusted
its only hardware that you cant audit that cant be trusted
ive been listening to many debates about ai safety and im noticing that many of the arguments can actually apply to companies...
most companies are far too complex structures to actually completely disect
with hardware products, it can be completely audited within a few years of release, however the software may never be able to be completely verified.
we rely on the companies themselves to self regulate, and hope that there arent enough bad actors within so they conduct good faith regulation.
even foss takes ages to dissect, and malicious commits have made it through even with the intense auditing that some of the more popular projects use
whats the advantage?
actually i cant
i rely on google for mass storage, and veracrypt for keeping it safe from google
my server stays off otherwise my room turns into an oven
isnt 10tb like 50 bucks a month?
yep
but infinite 250tb is $20 a month
?
Does that gsuite trick even work still
yes
now im not sure you can actually get to this subscription tier any more, but I had it prior to the changes, and i have been using it purely for backup of my personal data without really sharing it, so im not actually breaking their tos
Intel Core i9-14900K and i7-14007K It appears that the Intel 14th Gen Core series might be just around the corner. Today marks the beginning of Intel’s new desktop leaks, as the first glimpse of Raptor Lake Refresh appears in Bapco software. The updated CPU series, designed for the LGA1700 socket, promises higher clock speeds and […]
This 24 core shit is as fake as AMD's FX 8 cores
Like cmon, you should also list the threads
legally its not
arm has had heterogenous cores for a while and nobody complained there
this isnt new just new for desktop in that sense
so will it actually be any faster
Prolly not
because up until now they only added cores and clocked them higher?
like id take a 24 core 14900k over a 24 core 8890v4 any day of the week
didn't even knwo a 13900ks clocked in at 6.0
still slower than a 7800x3d in most games
well they need something to get the last drips out before zen5
just rename it again
well its only most games if you mostly sample x3d syngergizing games
Wow we're at 6ghz now? 😮
aka most games that are not csgo
I guess its nice that people on alder laker have a slightly better option to upgrade to from a lower chip lol
depends on your game selection
welp can live with that since I paid less than a 13700k+mobo and have a plattform that probably has more of a future than lga 1700
except you didnt
I7 12700 >>
its substantially cheaper to buy a 13700k than a 7800x3d
now its substantially cheaper to run a 7800x3d but its not actually cheaper up front
sure but including mobo and ram its more like $100
idk basically any ddr4 board is gonna be substantially cheaper for the same performance
nice, i got i7 15700k for 550$
15k 💀
cause they dont benchmark 1440p frametimes, and 4k is really cheap to get as a monitor
look at 1080p then lol
cpus cost the same here, 32gb ddr5 is like 30€ more than ddr4 it seems roughly so its just the board cost difference really
basically yea
unless you want reasonably fast ram
if you get too slow ddr5, it craters the performance
Cl36 is kinda bad
104€
thats actually slower
closed the tab but saw a 80€ deal for 5600 that you could tune if you want to go price conscious
next upgrade intel 18A where it at
sure but ddr4 is cheaper, by up to the entire price of the ram since many people are upgrading from ddr4
yea cba to tune
will be DDR5 8k then
yea the ddr4 I had was old af and barely alright back then though
ddr4 is still cheaper but not substantially cheaper anymore
idk on a server cpu if you get lucky
its pretty substantial
you can go 16gb as long as you have an nvme for your games, and each 8gb stick of bdie even is $20
6000 cl30 kits go for 100, a few months ago it was 150+, there I would have called it substantial
the kit I just posted is 95
the 100€ include 19% vat
can someone dig up the pcpp comparisons i posted before, im curious how they changed?
damn, so might be 150 USD
99% of euro prices include VAT in shown listings
would be pretty cool if they kept it the same price
since everyone else is going north of 150 nowadays
this one?
im pretty sure it was 2 builds using the motherboard with the same name, 1 am5 1 1700
thats like 80$ too much for a gpw clone
if you did then only as image thats the only pcpp listing you posted

dang it might have been in another server
people will sadly still eat it up even though "2khz bad"
yea sadly, washed up logi
they woulda eaten it if they increase weight to 100 g
50grams, usb-c, and optical switches, and everyone and their grandma will buy it
wouldn't mind tbh
im sad noone has done absolute positioning mouse yet despite it being 2+ years since i proposed it
don't let your dream stay a meme, do it yourself mang
you mean a trackpad
a trackpad using a stylus shaped like a mouse
like some drawing tablet or something
lol it been proposed like 10 years ago or more
aka a drawing tablet
using a stylus shaped like a mouse
sure but those dont work as a mouse
im not talking about the output being absolute btw
but that reminds me I should send a second mail to me in 6 months and see how close my zen5/ARL predictions are
im just talking about the sensing being absolute, and the hardware performing the absolute to relative conversion
that is also a thing drawing tablets do
i have used opentabletdriver or whatever its called to actually do that and its pretty good
lol
name 1 that does it in hardware
this
heck over 360hz would be nice
well
almost exactly 1 year since the G502X, maybe updated version of their optical switches??
make it then
it's not "their version"
oh
why tho? cuz u got ulx at 8khz woreless and less weight
better shape too
ulx?
is that from a reputable company?
how big?
not full shell
and i mean like actually reputable
depends how you feel about finalmouse
like a58 or whatever one you wanna reference
have you tested the big FM shapes like phantom, air58 big etc?
iots quite big
my RVU is feeling slightly too small for me
depends on how you define the word
i dont think it does
they simply do not have any repute in the wild
yea a58 is a bit fatter

check eloshapes for "tiger"
its not 100% exact but
gives u an idea
perfect example of why eloshapes sucks
pretty much the same size, wish it was a few millimeters bigger in every dimensions
still gotta weight to see the QC on them
literally every finalmouse have a lil jank
yep
lol
Im not really a fan of FM but I'm actually pretty impressed about the weight and NoRDiC 8KhZ @gusty kiln
what would be funny is a mouse company that sells you a mouse without a shell, a sla 3d printer, and some example shell designs
nodric
sla sucks for mice
there is a reason people stopped using it ages ago
NODRIC EAGER BOUNCE
I'll consider it, but gunne be sold out for months
what
COMPX NODRIC 4KHZ
still an option, waiting to see what the superlight 2 actually brings
uv curing means that if you have a window in your room it will keep curing
it keeping to cure means it will warp forever
im not talking structural sla
im talking about the mouse is like a frame with mounting points at fixed locations
yea
then the shell fits on top of that
outer panels can still warp
the shell wouldnt be strong enough to bend the frame
yea but give you dogshit seams instead
seams?
if you want custom shape
sls not fdm
pmm actually offers that
between panels
yeah isnt piranhaa's overpriced stuff SLA
ah
used to be sla like 4 years ago
stopped using it
because they warped
this is a thing
yea im aware, i meant more a sellable solution
custom mounts for old shells are also a thing
tbh they are pretty clean nowadays
like heck even if the shell is disposable, as long as you can just print a new one its gonna be fine
ye but its over 200$ and pointless with ulx lmfao
it's 200€ built
I guess if u want solid shape
like imagine they built an internal frame, and then sold different shells over that
that might make more sense than printing it but idk
yh but if you're buying new why would u buy that instead of ulx? I cant think of single reason
there is no need for an internal frame then
so that the user doesnt have to touch a screw
90€ + a g305 is quite a lot cheaper
im talking about a purely snap fit shell
snap fit is stronger than threaded fasteners
depends on the situation
it depends on how well you design your snap fits ofc
but given the same width of material, and a good design, snap fit will always be stronger
I wanna see snapfits for a weirdly shapped shell
that someone is gripping pretty hard
that doesn't flex
ez
bruh
make a frame that doesnt flex
then put homing features on the shell where between each homing feature in the shell, the shell doesnt flex
screws however do require tools to replace the shell
a single screwdriver
and they do require a frame
the horror
its just often integrated into the shell
shell = frame
deathadder v2?
v3
yes and this makes it physically larger
what
really? the flares look really pronounced
how does it make it larger
so how much volume does the pcb, wire and buttons take up
not much
how much greather than that volume is the total volume of the mouse
it is larger by choice lol
yes
you could make it smaller
M2k is 83 ml of volume
what im saying is smaller part that holds together on its own that could be used as a mouse
viper v2 for exaple
then on top of it you snap on the shape you want
pretty similar for the important bits
so you wanna snap fit a whole top
have these two parts you purchase be separate items
if sandy monroe was working on it he could make it take hundreds of pounds
now that would be heavy, but as long as you set requirements, you can optimize
yea but anyone can design a screw to work

easily available
more than enough strength
ok sure ill allow 1 screw
like WAY more
ok make it then
but im saying subunit that is fully functional as a mouse as small as possible
you are asking for something nobody wants

why a frame at all
at that point just transfer the pcb
the people that want customization can use a screwdriver
so that you can idependently chose between electronics and shape without relying on someone to make the adapter
what
what advantage would it bring you
people make shells for the g305 rn
if you want a pcb upgrade you are sol
cause nobody will make a fitting pcb
that won't change if you now make it an "open standard"
why would any company pay money to get people to buy less PCBs
because pcbs are expensive?
selling pure plastic would be very cheap, and you could do constant very cheap upgrades
how does a company benefit from that
cheap for the company, and relatively cheap for the end user
a mouse probably has 50% margins? maybe 60%?
a shell would have 95% margins
and a much smaller audience
so sell them together
and sell the new shells as upgrades
ah yes
customizability
but really just an upsell for a useless feature
something I really do not miss
madkatz has sold more mice than finalmouse 🤷
madcatz also went bankrupt like 3 times
despite being super dead
I don't have sales numbers
but finalmouse prob outsold madcatz in the last 3 years
with limited drops
oh for sure now that madkatz hasnt existed for 10? years
"customizability" is dead
they still exist
and have released new products

yea no
its a different company 🤷
yea after being revived as a new company
they still sell the same crap
same mice with new internals
new mice
with new internals
but nobody wanted them
because they still are looks over function
nah
just regular ol xenophobia?
I think it's a missing reality check that you cant just put money there and expect to have skilled workers in the desert
or more likely
they dont want to waste time training brand new hires to help get the plan running
its delayed already, might be because they planned wrong but it's not coming for no reason
this all music to my intel ears
yea but it competes vs non-bleeding edge fabbing
intel other fabs and new german fab
you mean it competes where intel is already outsourcing to tsmc so it just means intel is making the chips in the us instead of taiwain
Even if they weren't fabbing (which they are), doesn't matter. Just boosts sentiment
yeah but if it runs intel can outsource more and have others use the intel foundy wafers
afaik the german fab isn't gonna be competitive node anyways
But i doubt they'd be building it if there were no customers
its planned to use 16, 3 and 18a
honestly, whichever makes them more moeny
noice
tho wouldnt happened without eu subsidizing
same with tsmc tho
older node is the best, need to be certain we have usb and stuff like that and not face shortages or issues on general appliances
3 is not relevant
18a we'll see
btw anyone know if ballpoint pen ink comes off tv screen?
GG Samsung had marked a barcode label in the middle of my screen with ballpoint pen at the edge and some of it on the screen as well...
like so

probably easier to get it repalced rather than try and fix it and break it that way and void the warranty, sadly
that said
ethanol or isopropanol usually doesn't harm screens and should get it off decently
but I definitely can't guarantee it
no idea what they coated that tv with
also the pen itself might have dented it
why
I was told I can get 20 % rebate and free "cleaning bottle" or I can also return it. The partial refund is quite tempting but yeah idk if the cleaner can get it off.
apparently "you pissed me off" was too bad for a T ESRB rating
thanks tho, might try the ethanol first and see
I like this especially
insult? bad! threatening death? that's k
what is this from?
newest hyperdimension neptunia got censored
Anyone got the lethal gaming saturn pro mousepad?
No I have the LGG Venus tho
Saturn Pro one of the more popular performance pads FWIW
I'm getting very tired of seeing this.
🤷 would you prefer it go back to the beachball, i vote no
?
remote access rather than virtualization
This is running in a VM.
yes, and apple would prefer you use a kvm to remotely access a mac
If I give it more cores it refuses to boot too. .-.
I just want to get an AARCH64 Mac for this stuff but I don't have that kind of money.
oh right yea if the ssd dies on even the earliest m1 mini its lights out
The M1s are kinda bad, but AARCH64 and I need a Mac for some software stuff.
used to just be able to get cheap macs with dead drives or whatever and swap them out
🤷 m2 isnt substantially better
I mean it's the same thing with a different SoC.
we need macs to run a single peice of software and this is the solution
we bought an m1, but it was laggy, so i nabbed a sata ssd out of the ewaste pile and upgraded this dood and it is more responsive
I need to build natives and test stuff on OSX.
Plus it would be nice to have a half-decent AARCH64 Linux box.
if its for fun, you probably shouldnt bother targeting aarch64 desktops/laptops
if its for iphone, i dont think aarch on mac is substantially faster for emulating ios than x86 is
My software would run like molasses on iOS.
So run it on x86
the m1s take sata ssds?
wot
No no I upgraded the old Mac from the screenshot
iOS doesn't let you use JIT because Apple hates you.
I guess hypothetically you could compile this stuff into AARCH64 binaries, but I don't care enough for that.
Ok so that's the only platform with over 10% market share that could possibly make use of an aarch dev env
Like if you used it yourself I could understand
But why are you developing for fun for a platform that you don't use?
Like if it's work I also understand
Well, I'm using a cross platform tool chain so I get it for "free" and I want to make sure it works.
I just have some natives I need to build.
"need"
Quality.

yet people still buy apple lol
People don't know this is a problem they could have...
idk i hate apple with a passion, so I'm never surprised when they pull a shady one
This isn't shady
It's relatively obvious
But it's also obviously antidurability
like i empathize with the want but its so illogical...
well i work alot with spreadsheets so by definition no lol
I mean other companies suck too sadly.
Tbh it sucks in general but for me the way Apple covers and solders it on board actually saved me, though a rare case
watch the video and say that again
im actually ok with soldering the ssd if its nescessary for size as long as external storage is supported
The thing that saved me is, the soldered on ssd has kinda glue like substance around which saved it from water damage for me
watch the video
watch the video
also there are waterproof ssds
what other computer manufacturer uses nand flash for the firmware
not cellphones or tablets
computers
Oh sure but normally I woudlnt have one. But yeah my case is rare and in case the ssd has died it would be a huge issue, since it would make the repair cost as big as new mobo and lost data
but im fine with that part
well not fine, unhappy
that part is at least rational
the irrational part is literally putting an explicit expiration date on the hardware by using nand for the firmware
nand physically cannot contain data for extended periods of time
nor can
now sure if they were using pslc nand ok fine thats useable
no
its TLC at best, sometimes qlc
name another company that stores the firmware for a personal computer that is on a medium that dissipates over time in the past heck lets say 20 years?
It sucks but since firmware is mostly stationary I don’t think it really is as dangerous, as the ssd sector with firmware doesn’t get new write cycles.
The fact if your ssd dies firmware is on it is a huge issue
you specifically are
I find it is important to the degree of screwing with the customer
if you think that all examples of screwing the user are equal, then sure its not an argument, but I heavily disagree with that assertion
Honestly I feel like every company has their own way. Apple is amongst worst for repair for sure. Google and Microsoft suck more for privacy and aren’t as bad for repair for example
second of all, if they dont keep writing the firmware, it will have dissipated by now
yeah and apple charges you outta the ass aswell. 1000$ monitor stand style
they have some cool innovation
but are they actually worse for privacy?
they give you the tools to be private or at least allow you to use them
Don't get banned for these links lol
I mean I would say at least they seem so. Like google advertising stuff that makes privacy worse better for privacy happened too many times.
I think the data should last some time but I am not entirely sure now. AFAIK the data retention is not actually bad about NAND
100mv per year
just vanishes into the ether
slc / pslc is 2.5v
mlc is half that
tlc is half that
qlc is half that
you refresh it every time you write the data
I mean if there is something that overwrites it every 3 months it should last long still tbf since write cycles for hundreds of years and data should last
there are techniques that understand how the data changes over time and keeps track, but it doesnt help once you leave it in the drawer for a year
if you dont leave it plugged in, it will run out of battery and then the data will fade
Oh yeah that one definitely could be an issue
I wonder if that may happen to my windows pc
Since I sometimes don’t use it for months at a time
qlc is around 3 years in theory to vanish the data
Honestly with the price Apple wants for SSDs they should be Mlc or slc but knowing Apple it’s probably tlc
I don’t think they’d go down to qlc but I may be wrong
they were qlc for a bit, now its a mix
and to be entirely fair they could be using pslc, which has problems but would extend the life
but its still a very unstable storage medium
they are also running an entirely invisible os that is significantly larger than ME and has zero oversight
Even if you don’t buy from Apple I would say it’s a double edged sword tbh.
Sometimes they make new technology more mainstream and get more brands to use it, and sometimes that technology is good. Meanwhile sometimes they instead very much push forward anti repair stuff and other anti consumer bs
yep 😦
its a gift link to now (afaik) defunkt products someone made for the still somewhat existing store
Lately I have had two very different experiences with Apple.
One was how I had to pay too much for my MacBook repair, partially due to how Apple is.
But then the game porting kit I have been trying out lately I find quite impressive tbh, the fact the games run pretty well despite going through two translation levels. Though lot of credit there on the GPU side goes to wine devs.
and how convenient is that compared to steam linux?
It’s not to convenient sure but there are reasons I will use a MacBook in the near ish feature, mostly around battery efficiency and speaker and display quality as well as just being used to the OS
thought ngl the game porting kit got me to use terminal after ages
sure, but actually 1 of those is apple class leading at a time
Wdym?
if you were willing to sacrifice on 1 of those hardware points, you could improve significantly on the others with a pc
obv excluding being used to the os
and i suppose it doesnt get much better on speakers but you can get at least some improvements
Yeah unless I went for a desktop but for now that’s not really an option
on desktop, there are far better options than mac tho if you can survive without the software
Like honestly I really like the idea of building a custom pc, having more access, overclocking and such, did so once, but studying in a different country I can’t bring the pc with me really, and so all the 3 points matter to me
but you can get that with a pc laptop
think gave up on that front, but elitebook, precision, and framework all have options
and there are still some thinkpads that are fine, but they arent great because lenowo cant figure out how to implement an amd cpu
Can any of them really compete with the efficiency?
Tbh for now it doesn’t really matter for me as I don’t plan to get a new laptop but then with how hard MacBooks are usually to repair never know if something happens and I have to
AMD
intel and amd both make faster chips than apple (tho they do lose on igpu horsepower at the top end) but they make up for that by being able to work with nvidia
but amd actually makes more efficient chips
there is 1 company who makes laptop chips that can run without a heatspreader (the demo i remember seeing was crysis)
Hmm I did hear the new laptop chips are pretty good, though I guess I can’t test them side by side rn, I was considering getting like a Beelink gtr with one but then Apple announced game porting kit
with insane tweaking, amds laptop chips can actively run with less power than the m1 and m2 use at idle
in windows in a game
Nice, I preorder my pro its coming around the same time my wooting is arriving
I love mine FWIW
I’ve heard great things about the Saturn pro. Came damn close to ordering the XXL Saturn pro myself
My Venus is still doing just fine tho
Enjoy the new setup when it arrives.
Ty
?
The Information says that roughly 70 percent of early 3 nm dies have been usable, though this number can change based on the chip being manufactured and does generally go up over time as processes are improved.
makes perfect sense once you read past the headline
there are different N3 nodes too and most non apple people dont even want the current one so its not even a loss lol
this is literally apple payinf the dev cost for a new node so others use it cheaper and better xd
AYYY I GOT MY NATIVES BUILT AND WORKING
ok so ive done some math
the current ai pause is proposing no ai models that use more than 10^24 flops to train until we can make some progress on safety
thats 12 years of training on a h100, but only 36 hours of training on the new ai supercomputer g42 is building... and that only is a little over 500 individual wse2-s
omg i hate Windows
im selling my Laptop, i wiped WIndows and re installed it.... i wanted to setup a local user to show it working tomoz but you need online and to login to MS
So now im going to use rufus to bypass it
shift + f10 then type the bypass command
ik there is prob a way to do it via cmd
its fkn dumb but welcome to 2023
it will restart the computer and then the local option will be available
Well that's stupid
you practically cant set a password tho, not without answering security questions, so you should leave it blank on the setup which is super duper secure good job microsoft
welcome to microsoft
Ye I always leave blank for that reason
Usually I use Rufus to make my img
But I wanted just fresh for this customer
@astral haventy
i also find it crazy that it doesnt even skip the oobe when you run that command it just makes the button appear
Reminds of how you can't (dunno if it's still the case) a fingerprint on Windows without setting up a stupid 4 digit pin
Like why, I already have my password, why do I need an easy to guess pin when setting up the fingerprint scanner? It isn't even acting a 2fa,
you can set your pin to be as complex as you want
you can make it the same as your password for example
in fact to prevent people from being able to actually enable fingerprint and whatever on our windows machines, my boss sets through policy the requirement of the pin to be 64 characters long with every other possible security option
Probably because the password is a different auth to pin/touch
basically yea
pin, fingerprint, face are all tpm/pluton tech
thats highly not recommended
Ik
windows security relies on the password
Wait no I do
Now
I think
There was a long duration I didn't
Till recently
Let me check
you should at least be using a non administrator account if you arent using the password
Ok no password lol
and have a password on the admin account
It's a none admin aye
Nothing is accessable
All my user files are not stored on my Desktop either
all my user files are stored in google drive lol
but yea the device i use the most is in windows super lock down mode (well at least as far as you can get without windows S mode)
If I had an amd gpu I'd be on Linux
😅
As much as it drives me nuts I still like it enough to move
my nas currently is a raspberry pi with google drive mounted via rsync lol
for now gotta have an intel cpu too, ftpm hasnt been fixed yet afaik
I ran Linux fine on my laptop
with an amd cpu?
Ye
and without a dedicated tpm module?
My current laptop is 5800h
interesting
i dont know details, but supposedly any system with ftpm will lag hard while accessing the ftpm
the security questions isn’t something i understand even now
windows doesn’t even encrypt user data
its to allow users to reset their own passwords without help
why is it required though
because otherwise people wouldnt put anything in
im confident its just to save microsoft money
they probably got alot of support calls about it so they force enabled it
true i guess
but yea the problem affects linux worse since the ftpm contains the rng, and linux uses the system rng contstantly rather than using the hardware rng as a seed for an OS rng
still the bypass oobe command should shove you to the desktop without a password automatically
it already automatically prompts you to set up a password -_-
Updates, so many updates.
Windows doesn't provide a wifi driver too
So I had to use an adapter for Ethernet
automatic driver installs are generally updates btw
I just need to show it working and then it's the buyers problem
not networking and basic usb controllers
Without the internet they aren't
oh yeah brainlag
windows ships a ton of very basic low level drivers into their default iso
not all, but many
One thing I hated about this laptop is the speakers were bleh but bearable, however In Linux it was horrid
I think they use some bullshit driver
mmm yes i want a synapse installation window in oobe
i thought that razer stored part of synapse on the devices themselves
but yea they deserve excommunication for synapse bs
they execute the installer via windows update
i thought that they had a mechanism to store the installer on the device itself?
either way real awful stuff
no idea but it has to execute somehow
so they’re definitely shipping some bullshit package disguised as an important driver via windows update
yea its real virus level shiz
wooting for the win with literally not even needing any install whatsoever to function
firmware updates via a webpage is goated
but yea i was talking earlier about problems like these
we already have rogue superintelligences taking malicious actions, whats the difference between a corporation and a superhuman AGI in terms of safety?
Heh funny, Anandtechs interview with AMD chief architecht is almost 2 years old by now where he said
I have this annual architecture meeting where we go over everything that's going on, and at one of them (I won't say when) the team and I went through Zen 5. I learned a lot, because of nowadays as running the roadmap, I don't get as close to the design as I wish I could. Coming out of that meeting, I just wanted to close my eyes, go to sleep, and then wake up and buy this thing. I want to be in the future, this thing is awesome and it's going be so great
well hopefully they didnt/dont run into navi 31 level issues
dont think thats possible anymore since those were pre-si stages that zen5 has passed already
so I am cautiously optimistic
yes?
yea im talking about the 500 missing mhz in reality vs projected
zen5 is further in the validation stages than rdna3 was when those issues were found in rdna3
really?
it should be yes
the 7900xtx was literally within a week of announcement when the issues were found
nah
yes
there was still an amd engineer person who hadnt gotten the memo at the launch event...
they toned the numbers down at uhh the financial day? technology day? some event before that so and in hindsight we found out internally they started to konw there or bit before
the leak sources just didnt get that info until later
tho it was not the full paper launch
also zen4 server was pushed back a bit because customers wanted uhh cxl.mem or some spec to be added so the time between 4 and 5 should be shorter than one would assume looking at current cadence
i thought genoa was missing cxl.mem???
it was some cxl or similar spec, I might be mixing it up with the one thats missing idk it's been a while
may have been cxl 1.1
Hunh i thought the other way around, I stand corrected
holy shit
youttube finall fixed this
no more just 3 videos on uw monitors
they actually use the space now
fixed it for you
better
Glass mousepad > skates
Are they comparable before the glass skates break down or not really?
Like glass skates on cloth pad vs glass pad with ptfe feet
Glass skates wear down a cloth pad so much that it gives you dead spots so that’s why I recommend against using glass skates
mpv is so nice, the instant seek is so extremely pleasant
at some point someone recommended to me an alternative but i cannot remember what it was?
yeah mpv is great :)
intel going fishing for talent again lol

Weird comparison, 4060Ti being a $399 card and 6800XT at 649$ at launch
Even now I can't see any 6800XT's below 550$
Although the 16GB model is 499$ I suppose so I guess you can somewhat compare them
4060ti 8gb kinda doa
in nl those seem comparable in price.
as most 8gb cards are nowadays
its the 16gb version though
so its not that weird of a comparison
My country doesn't have a single 16gb model on sale lol
Well the 8GB being 400 euros, safe to assume 16gb would be around 520
well then the 6800xt is infinitley better
vex made a claim that wasnt thought through.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
about what it is here
just fyi
574 for the 6800xt is an absolute incredible deal ngl
wdym they are under 550 here
We don't live in the same country donut
rip
Because they know that most viewers are murrican.
hub mentions prices but is basically like "bigger audience is in US/EU and we know local prices suck"
I think thats the entire market or at least tech market, AiBs and co cant do much there
actually not even that much higher, 500usd is 770AUD + taxes then factor in shipping and it's almost at the reatil price they pay
500 usd is 770, then I dont know if import and VAT both apply becaus then you are at 920 from just that
are they though is my question
if msrp in aud is basically 920 for them
asus "high end model" tax
8gb vs 16gb
thats 100usd extra in msrp from nvidia
thats why I said im unsure, if gpus get taxed via VAT AND import tax 915 is the actual msrp price lol
if its just one of them then it is like 10% higher for australians
oh yea
4070 seems like the only sensible gpu a normal person can buy from nvidia
- RTX 3070 seems like the only sensible gpu a normal person can buy from nvidia
3070 is 8gb cucked
3070 was always a good deal on MSRP
3080 (Ti) - 3090 on used prices could be really good as well
not if you use 1440p
Nvidia has not launched a GPU this generation that I would look at and be "ok, that's good"
and at 1080p it is pretty overkill for most people
4090
3070 still at 500usd in many places is braindead
Only if it was 999$
yea
Wonder if they'll do a super refresh again next year
No new architecture until 2025
even at 400€ here they are kinda stupid
3080 if you have more cash
💀💀
Well games are definitely getting more complex and harder to optimize for
I can see some stealth game use raytracing as part of the gameplay
Stay in shadows
devs are definetley getting more lazy
since they can use dlss as a perfomance crutch
great
wdym I love weird motion blur
I've only ever intentionally used dlss for diablo 4
I don’t think some bad devs using that means you can generalize that
Any new tech would always be misused in some way
Can't do it bc most GPUs can't raytrace still
Amd is actually 10x slower at raytracing at the same raster performance
yea obv
A game that relies on raytracing in an even remotely complex environment would look like this
And it would be worse than this because cyberpunk still rasters
Nah
At a certain point you start seeing your reflection in the monitor purely from the brightness of the screen lol
dough is German??

4tb reaching 150 now

no deffo not german

wait were they always german
the "GmbH" is kinda enough
basically german 😆
legally quite different
well they have a german seat and german vat id
Everyone who bought a V2 and Spectrum did so through a sales agreement between the customer and Eve Distribution Ltd, incorporated in Hong Kong. Now there is no mention of this company in the Dough Web-site, and all new purchases are through a sales agreement between the customer and Dough GmbH, incorporated in Germany. Given this, I have a fe...
apparently they seem to just resell chinese stuff
they have no northdata page
they changed their sales agreements to not include the hong kong company anymore
do they or is it just labelled for them
even though the company is over a year old

they share their building with a construction vehicle company
Stolen LG panel
they a bakery now
looks suuuuper fake
if you ask me
eh they need a european branch by now
or a european partner at least
Dough = Eve
at the minimum
they need an address
though post box companies in germany are quite uncommon
typically they would use ireland or cyprus for that
cyprus especially popular due to it's weird situation
why make such a big investment when you only need to ship to reviewers 🤔😆
that is what good reviewers do
AI AI AI AI
4090ti?
Lol no
sad
:(
Nvidia feeling no threat from AMD
AI side however
AMD gunning for that early marketshare
guess i need to start my own gpu company 🥱
fucking tuukka
Man I kinda want to get that orange zero the more I look at it
the mousepad?
There is an atlas at my local best buy
💀
Rip adapter
just put it back in
I did but I took it back out not to risk anything lol, no idea if any pins got broken off or not
its just wireless now
incredible tech
cerebras is the one gunning for the early market share lol
amd is gunning for their own feet with rocm 🤣
stonks
rocm is mess on desktop, for HPC and such it's fine, pytorch etc. working on translating code to it
well its either rocm or amd is lying about the ai specs of the products 🤷
i suspect amd is telling the truth its just rocm doesnt work well
yeah but people who want a few hundred or thousand mi300 want the hardware even if they had to write drivers themself lol
sure but thats more competing with cerebras than nvidia
and cerebras is most certainly gonna win that fight
they are currently constructing 3x the capacity of the top500 in pure ai compute
😭 its beautiful
lol what’s the difference
Tbf I still dont really see much of the difference
yea well cant fault them that hard for it considering its perfectly competitive at the price point
Like yes on paper the transfer speeds are massively different
and in practice it takes an order of magnitude less time to back up the phone
But I don't really ever connect my phone to a PC so, I don't see the difference between usb2 or usb3
you also can get support for external displays
some people dont like cloud backups
is what is required if you dont have removeable storage and have data you want to persist
even usb 3.0 is ancient but i guess apple has to cut some corners
it wont be 3.0
even this rumor says 3.2
the hope is that there is video output support
hm with limited speeds? so the hardware locking thing again?
we will finally get away from 900p max hdmi from iphone
still stupid
lol wut
I do like being able to use one connector for everything but still
the only problem with usb c is some of the devices using it are missing features
if everything was full usb4 40g with mst, pcie tunnelling, and dsc, everyone would be happy about usbc
because its a superior connector?
reversible for the main one
but also capable of everything
The lightning connector is also reversible lol
more universal connector
and higher possible specs
the lightning connector is not capable of anything except usb2 with 1 exception
yea, apple hates fast charging in general above a certain wattage
the tech however exists to 10x the charging speed on usbc
there are plenty of phones that charge in 1/10th the time of the iphone even without having 10x the charging speed due to the curve
yes thats under 10 minutes empty to full
There is no way that it’s 50 minutes from 92% to 100%. That’s a lie lie.
unlike zenbleed only locally exploitable it seems at least
apple lies about charge%
it says 100 as long as its over something like 95%
Why would they lie to us?
because the most dammage is done from charging the battery when its almost full
so they want you to wait until the battery is at least some amount drained before charging it again
Why can’t we just have nice sinks I just want to phone preferably an iPhone that has fast charging a good camera. Fucking all these features. You know simple features instead of having to be lied. Lied to essentially.
I apologize for the misspelling because I’m using dictation. I’m taking a fucking shower.
all devices lie to some extent,
not a single device can handle its advertised charging speed for the full curve
heres samsung
the advertised "45 w" only gets fully charged 3 minutes faster than 25 watts out of an hour 20 mins
Oh rip
What phone do you use? And do you think that the iPhone 15 Pro models will be a good upgrade.
Tbh too fast charging speed can acc cause issues if you use your phone too much, even the 20w has been pretty bad for my battery now that it’s 3 years
i have an iphone se and a s21 ultra
Depends, upgrade from what?
would be no big issue if you could just easily swap out batteries
iPhone 14
only using awful charging tech
PPS can quite significantly improve charging speeds while creating less wear on the battery
True, at least they’re not glued in anymore tbf
What is PPS?
my battery is at about 92% of original battery health
Really don’t think it’s worth it then tbh
I see no reason to upgrade to anything if you have the 14
unless you want to switch to android
In general
usb c lmao
Well preferably I would like to get the upgrade solely because of the camera I guess I mean I bought the phone at MetroPCS and you know if you traded it I heard that you can just get like 700 bucks or something will cost 1000 maybe 1100 1200 so 300 bucks extra for a brand new phone do you know brand new battery life and all of that Jazz I don’t see it as that big of a deal
not worth the extra money if you have the last gen phone
another thing if you're behind 2 or more generations
I mean pro to non pro will be the difference but like really don’t get it if you don’t have money you have no other use for
But like the cameras on a pro will be better
so chargers usually support a few specific voltages and the phone has to convert
5,9,12,15,20
pps allows the charger to set the voltage exactly to best charge the battery, and the phone conversion circuit can basically just fine tune the voltage for maximum health
Does it really matter that much if that’s done in the charger or the phone? I guess phone can mean more heat but I woudlnt think it would be too bad
