this is where I get to state that the german I was learning...didn't even have capital letters

it's ok though
I already forgot everything duck_sip

halcyon moss
#

Just for this song?

wheat plume
#

Lemme check ...

sharp badger
#

Oh there's the clean version and the ''dirty'' version

#

YT chooses the first one

wheat plume
wheat plume
#

Oh
It might be just the song

wheat plume
sharp badger
#

Ah ok wtf?

#

Spotify have the Explicit albums and non-explicit would've thought that it'd work the same

#

Family friendly video sharing site lol

wheat plume
#

Ytm has that too

#

I keep mistaking E for Everyone though xd

#

Not E for Explicit

#

Still can't forgive Microsoft for butchering this song in Forza horizon 5

#

You think ytm is just automatically pulling them from another site?

#

Hmmm

#

Uep

#

Yep

#

But this is the same provider as the censored song and this isn't

#

Maybe they changed since that first song lol

#

It's a couple years old compared to this one

#

I doubt it.... This has only the original and Acapella versions

#

Same lyrics

#

Different site this time ....

#

Guess this explains the lack of follow along lyrics that scroll as the song plays

#

The words aren't time stamped to the song

sharp badger
#

Can one choose which place the lyrics come from or is it always auto assigned?

wheat plume
#

nope!

#

There are many popular-ish songs in my playlist that do not have lyrics for them

#

Despite me having the dedicated YT Music version thats just the song and album art

#

Is it bad to leave an fm transmitter plugged into the lighter port in the car when it's not running?

#

Like if it's not driven for days

#

And the things plugged in the entire time

#

It also has a USB port with a cabke to charge the phone when driving

sharp badger
#

Depends on the car but still the power draw should be minimal

wheat plume
#

The transmitter has a blue ring around it that lights up when powered on
And it's off when the engine is off

#

So it should be ok?

sharp badger
#

Yes

wheat plume
#

Ookk....
The mechanic said to keep it unplugged when not driving so I got worried

#

I've never done that in the 3 years I've had the transmitter

sharp badger
#

Yeah if one have a weak battery for sure every extra device plugged it's just better to unplug

wheat plume
#

The car has had 3 previous owners and idk if or when the battery was replaced

sharp badger
#

But with what you're describing the FM Transmitter plug is turned off when the power is turned off

wheat plume
#

Yeh
It should be

#

But even with the key not in the ignition ... The car display can turn on and show the time and shit

#

But can't use radio or whatever

sharp badger
#

Ok? wierd

wheat plume
#

So there is power draw :/

sharp badger
#

Sounds like it

#

Car batteries should last like 3-4 years but can last shorter or longer, it all depends on Driving, Climate, Accessories etc.

wheat plume
#

The only issue I have if I need to replace this one is needing to go through the whole radio unlock code bullshit again

#

It's pure miracle the guy decided to trust me and just gave me the code for it with my previous car

#

Otherwise I'd have to send them the tax book and shit to prove I owned the car and I couldn't find that at the time I needed the code

sharp badger
#

That sounds like a hassle ๐Ÿ˜…

#

Never had it in the cars i've owned but understand why some would like it activated ๐Ÿ˜…

wheat plume
#

I couldn't use the radio at all without the code

#

Which meant no music from my phone cause FM transmitter

#

There was a way to get around it but it only worked until the engine turned off

cursive summit
#

Chromebooks? That's like, mega budget

You are not secure if you are not running TempleOS

A bit of a hassle prolly, but should be the safest

crisp granite
cursive summit
#

Tbf as long as only a virtual sandbox has internet access, and the main PC is offline, then it would be rather secure

#

The thing is, I don't get obsession with security, like, who's going to be interested in you?

FUCK YOUTUBE MUSIC
you can't stop playback anymore .-.

#

Before you could swipe down to stop music playback in the app

#

But all you can do is pause it now

cursive summit
#

Click the stop button?

wheat plume
#

And to stop it you need to close the app entirely

cursive summit
#

Heh? That makes no sense

wheat plume
#

They only let you pause and cast
Swiping down does nothing anymore

ashen spindle
#

so whats the issue exactly there? if its paused does it autoresume?

cursive summit
#

Swiping down for me stops the song

#

What's wrong with this functionality?

wheat plume
ashen spindle
#

you can run multiple apps playing sound on phone?

wheat plume
#

If you don't close the app you are stuff with the media widget

wheat plume
#

Since YT Music still technically has an audio stream open

cursive summit
#

Sounds like a very Lana issue to have

wheat plume
#

Nah

ashen spindle
#

so if you pause yt music your BT headphones cause spotify or something else to start a new song?

#

still not sure I get whats going on

crisp granite
cursive summit
#

Lana hates the widget that appears if you minimize YTmusic app when something is playing

#

You cannot get rid of the widget in the menu if music is playing

#

A very Lana issue to have

wheat plume
ashen spindle
#

I mean that sounds like the second app is broken and doesnt properly register as the in focus app

wheat plume
#

It only sometimes happens and it's with any app since yt music prevented you from actually stopping the audio session

#

Got to close yt Music from the recents menu now

ashen spindle
#

but another app getting into focus should put that app in foreground so that seems more like that app not working correctly to me?

wheat plume
#

Yes
Yes I do

But the ones I've seen so far are too expensive for the hardware you get ;_!

#

The only one with good hardware for the price was the Jingpad but that's cancelled now

#

Yeah ...that's the best option so far

#

What distro?

cursive summit
#

You'd almost think you were getting paid for shilling Graphene so much

wheat plume
#

I like sailfish UI a lot

#

So pretty ๐Ÿ˜

#

And the gestures are great

#

But I hate the company who make it :/

#

Wanting you to pay to send the phone to them in order to unlock the bootloader

#

It's like 30 euro or whatever to get it unlocked

#

Yep!

#

But the pinephone is really bad hardware

#

At least sailfish used Sony phones with good hardware

#

If I can get Linux on a decent powerful phone I'd love it

Like current flagship specs with Linux

wheat plume

O.o

cursive summit

Does graphene have some kind of compatibility layer with android apps?

#

If it doesn't support revanced for youtube, ytmusic and reddit, I'm not interested

wheat plume
cursive summit
#

Well if Sony 1 V ever gets graphene access, I might get graphene on it

wheat plume
#

You can even subscribe to channels without needing any account

cursive summit
#

Shame, well, not happening then

cursive summit
wheat plume
#

You wanna have to use a yt account?

cursive summit
#

Obviously

#

That's where my algorythm is for recommendations

#

And I actually value the algo

#

Imagine actually having to search for videos

#

It'd be unusable

#

Thanks for the suggestion, but again I really don't care for privacy dogenek

#

Graphene would just throw me off, I like android as is

wheat plume
#

Graphene looks identical to pixel android

cursive summit
#

There's also been a whole thing where my banking app or smart ID would not work on it, potentially

wheat plume
#

Yah that's the biggest issue :/

#

Oooooohhhh

#

Hek

cursive summit
#

I get why some people are obsessed with privacy

But lack of privacy brings QoL, like a personalized algorythm

I don't have much to hide tbf, so I'd rather have my data collected for ease of access dogenek

crisp granite

I don't

Apple is in such a weird position considering everything is closed source

Seems like the upgrades over my S8U are incremental and nothing revolutionary

wheat plume

I fail to see how that's harder to do than with a small phone

cursive summit
#

Basically same old tablet, one generation better SoC

wheat plume
#

Welcome to the world of modern tech

Barely any upgrade
Much more expensive than previous gen

cursive summit
#

And that's fine

#

If the S8U falls in price, I highly suggest getting one

#

Have had it for over half a year now I think, absolutely amazing for, well, anything

#

Games, emulation, media

crisp granite
#

hm...

#

I could say the same thing about my macbook

cursive summit

Nobody asked

#

Also, macbook? This is iPad competitor we are talking about

crisp granite

you actually use a tablet?

#

only one worth a damn is the remarkable 2

cursive summit
#

No, I just have it as a decoration

wheat plume
#

Isn't that e-ink?

#

:')

cursive summit
#

It's surprising how tablets are somewhat bridging the gap between laptops and tablets

#

Really the drawback remains the operating system, imo

#

Performance is getting more and more "laptop-like"

wheat plume
#

So does my uncle

#

He's got a 3rd gen he does everything on

cursive summit
#

I think what I love the most about the S8U is that it's basically a 15" display I can connect wirelessly to my PC rig and use as a third display that's touch enabled

#

It's.. kinda wonderful

wheat plume
#

Oh that's slick

#

I would love a touchscreen for my desktop

To understand Musk's renewed obsession with X and focus on financial services, you REALLY need to understand the X/Confinity merger that became PayPal.

And, particularly, the Peter Thiel-led coup that kicked Musk out as CEO/Chief Strategist.

Here's how that happened. 1/๐Ÿงต

TLDR 7800X3D a far better option with better outlier performance results, better power efficiency and better price

#

Hell they even kinda handicapped the X3D by giving it 6000MHz memory instead of 7200MHz of 13900K and it's still better

#

I guess that's mostly cause X3D supports up to 5200MHz and the 6000MHz is a decent overclock

#

That's weird, 13900K supports up to DDR5 5600 MT/s

#

7200MT/s is a large overclock, to the point where I'd be getting concerned for voltages and stability

ashen spindle

You can't OC the memory on the Ryzen to 7000MHz?

ashen spindle

you can but in 2:1 mode which doesnt do anything really for gaming

Hydrogen has many problems, and all are inefficient.

  1. Creating it. Splitting water takes tons of energy. The process requires complicated techniques and materials
  2. Transporting it.
  3. Storing it. Smallest things just go through containers. Very high pressure needed. It's apparently quite corrosive.
  4. using it. Exploding it in an engine is super inefficient. A feulcell is an electric car but with more steps.

Some of the new techs seem quite interesting in how they produce hydrogen

ashen spindle
#

but in what way can you ever get a bigger conversion rate from energy->making h2->burning h2 for movement from electricity->using it for movement

fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

but what is the whole picture? if you add in stuff like battery weight that is just another problem like h2 has problems that can be solved

fickle ore
#

Too many to list

ashen spindle
#

I mean just one as an example so I know what you are on about

fickle ore
#

Photoelectrolytic cells and Direct air electrolysis seem very promising for green hydrogen production

#

and I forgot one tech

#

Pevroskite where it at

ashen spindle
#

but you still have conversion loss even if say you have 99% efficency there

ashen spindle
#

so what benefit does it offer that outweigh the energy loss from extra steps

fickle ore
# ashen spindle so what benefit does it offer that outweigh the energy loss from extra steps

I'm not gonna list everything, so just a short bullet point list

*battery materials and overall footprint from mining and production
*weight & tires & road breakage & dust
*ease of use
*cost for end user mainly due to battery + footprint (average life span of just 8 years for a battery module)

  • gets worse with non-lithium materials
  • even less range with non-lithium
  • mining of said mineral / host rock and their impact
#

Im sure someone gets paid to calculate every step

#

thats not me however

ashen spindle
#

so basically if someone makes sodium batteries and then stuff like the current LK99 works out it beats any H2 advantage, if not the race is on for it do be more efficent due to weight and materials sources

fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

seems like making electricity available via high power lines seems easier than having an h2 pumpline

fickle ore
#

How is range affected by cold weather?

ashen spindle
ashen spindle
#

short version, room temp super conductor that might be real, not in the sense as in it solves all the issues that the 0kelvin things do but good enough to massively improve compact electric motors for example

fickle ore
#

If it turns out to be magic that's gonna be epic

ashen spindle
#

no it wont be magic but good enough to be usable if anything

#

but that's an example of how the big EV problems can be solved just as well as the H2 problems and then you get back to the advantages being gone for the most part and you are back to differences of the raw efficency

fickle ore
#

๐Ÿ˜›

#

I wanna believe

#

Superconductor would fix a lot of stuff

ashen spindle
#

better conducting, lower weight allows for more battery, sodium based ones starting in massproductiong from catl as we speak that solves the lithium issue

ashen spindle
fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

I know, just saying if it does confirm it's not the holy grail

fickle ore
#

Meanwhile, Direct air electrolysis seems very promising

#

Instead of normal electrolysis you have surfaces that directly electrolyze via sunlight

#

nomnom

ashen spindle
ashen spindle
ashen spindle
#

I mean how else would it make sense

#

if you gain less we are back to it creating less power than just direct charges

fickle ore
#

ofc it's less efficient than direct charge

#

But it's much more efficient than regular electrolysis

ashen spindle
#

like there are absolutely points where it makes sense, if I had a remote house I would use H2 tanks to be full off grid and store power from PV in the summer

#

but those systems are like 50% efficency loss

#

I just cant see it beat EV unless something massive happens in that field but nothing in EV markets

ashen spindle
fickle ore
#

Yea I'm sure even those systems can be improved and costs cut with new techs. Probably even becomes feasible in future for cottage stuff for the normal guy

ashen spindle
#

sure but you're not wanting to have 6 months storage in your car

fickle ore
#

No, but I wanna range of 1000km to travel to my cottage in -20 celsius ๐Ÿ˜„

#

and 1-2 min pump time cause time is money

ashen spindle
#

sounds like getting solid state sodium batteries to that level is more realistic than improving all the current problems with H2 to me

#

I mean maybe they do an intel in the EV industry I guess but that seems a bit unlikely

fickle ore
#

If they improve batteries sure I'll take one but atm I'm more interested about H2. I'm too frugal to buy a car that I have to replace the battery in 8 years that costs same as new car, but I'm not the target audience. Just seen some news about e.g Ford backpedalling on EV's and some others too bc they've been losing money on them. They don't see growing until the EV's hit 25k$ price point or so. They're just too expensive atm. https://www.autonews.com/manufacturing/tavares-says-ev-sweet-spot-25k

halcyon moss
fickle ore
#

Both have their pros & cons

#

big con for both is price atm

ashen spindle
