its just funny cause many people (and i think even in here) mentioned a japanese(?) research apper that states it isnt the case and was only made for telegraph operators
Ah Vex with the L takes as usual. ๐
and just now i read that we know it is to avoid crossing of typewriter glyph arms cause the original inventor wrote so in his notes. although he also acknowledged that he slightly adapted it for telegraph operators after he fixed the crossing issue
I can't take tech advice seriously from someone who dismisses a product based solely on who's making it without further elaboration
VAXEE platform has released the collaboration product with ZYGEN brand, the ZYGEN NP-01S Wireless. We have prepared a detailed explanatory video. For a complete understanding and sales information, please visit:

an interesting wireless ergo
Could someone recommend a good (preferably powered) usb hub? Iโd like to use it for a couple less important devices like my StreamDeck and headset dongle and camera light
I got a cheap one and I donโt think it has enough power to consistently power the StreamDeck, and my headset only will work sometimes when using it
any opinions on this build?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6800 XT, Fractal Design Pop Mini Air MicroATX Mid Tower
for 1K
1k of which currency
Pretty good though
Only "upgrade" you can really expect compared to that for 1k is a 6900/50 XT
Yeah not in EU
In EU there's still plenty
germany doesn't represent the entirety of europe
who
Looks like we have real gpro superlight 2 leaks now
2k polling rate and usbc so far
No optical switches would be sadge
took em long enough
6000 asrocks were ugly imo
asrock has been around since like the early 2000s
I would imagine decent before getting complacent for a new player
motherboards are harder than gpus imo
maybe not, but motherboards
lol yea
for under 100 thats the most expensive part on a camera...
we got by for years with disposable cameras, and this is basically the same story besides not being disposable
What would be really cool is a single chip camera
has a sensor on the front with a processor, memory on the back of the chip with a uoled viewfinder
then interfaces for an sd card
there goes 12 grand lol
anyone member the pain of taking a roll of vacation photos or something and when you got them back from developing half of them had a fucking thumb in one of the corners

Yeah I can believe that
DeepMind was always ahead in terms of algo power
I don't remember seeing any of their algos ever actually do anything that wasn't that chess thing
OpenAI managed to actually make their algos work with DallE, ChatGPT and such
DeepMind? Kind of just a research company
Can get a 6900XT for 660 retail rn
And that's a bit on the higher end of the spectrum
they recently got this published, but it has existed for a year
?
google specifically bans using their ais and infrastructure for a ton of extremely useful stuff (basically anything competing with mainline google projects) so basically noone besides google can use em until google releases it as a product unless you want to train it again on your own
like just because a company doesnt allow external users to use their internal tools doesnt mean they are just a research company
but nvidia does allow external users to use their internal tools
just only if you buy an nvidia gpu
google doesnt sell tpus
nice ๐
I love the new Discord "Invite As Guest" feature
you can invite someone to only one specific channel and voice call on a server, and then when they leave the call, they also leave the server
gang
Feels too good so far, had the white version with the bad coating so this was a big uograde
ye its nice
Wtf did google do to their photo app? 98mb update????
Amazing but the colours annoy me
I'm guessing it's a camera issue tho
Yeah they are the honeybadge theme
Whatcha mean
Also too much gloss
Absolutely
Probably also helps parts can be hollow to an extent
The r2d2 was also well detailed and moved around
Not versed on it either but hold.up
Nvm it's mk8
We went from this
The left one looks like tony is an alien lol
Yeah black panther got a better looking nanotech suit
Idk what it was but I didn't like it
It does look very slim
And tbh in general my issue with iron man was the weight of the shit over the years
Ah
They went away from practical to cgi for even the smallest things
But most importantly sets
I still will say the endgame last battle was impresive
He was more comedic back then
I remember cringing at how hard they tried to make humor in infinity war
His daughter paid a tribute to that at least
Can't find source images
But I always loved how much they went into the shots physically
But something with infinity was I just couldn't fully enjoy it because of it.
They had also too many characters
Feel the same about a lot of marvel now unless it's something like guardians of the Galaxy
Of doctor strange
Because like
It's hard to make it as practical as iron man haha
And ye I loved it
Almost everything else this year is bad in cinema
I still have to watch the new spider verse
Supposedly highest rates rotten tomatoes film
Way of water was cool to look at but boring
Bringing the || general back as an avatar and having him do the same thing again ||felt cheap
A man called Otto, cocaine bear, ant man, guardians and spider verse
Gonna watch indian Jones and some others...
Even though indian Jones looks poo
You can pirate the first 3
I watched them in the cinema I meant
Not really
Was a weird movie
I understand Tony having a nano-suit on hand at all times would be useful, but feel the nano-suit should have been the "last resort" suit when all others are not available.
Have the nanomachines integrating with the real suits
Also weird that literally no one else gets a nanosuit. I know Tony has the bleeding edge of equipment, but you think other super geniuses in the marvel universe would pick it up and weaponize it. Especially considering the tech outstrips most alien technology even though they posses FTL.
Like at this point we should be seeing humans mining asteroids and at the very least terraforming some of the rocky planets and moons to make them liveable.
Did Parker not have one?
yeppo, spidey boy's new suit is nanomachines
yo
does anybody know how to set up dks like this
Edit reset and whenever I release the key, it confirms
for fortnite oc
Oh no
Iron Man has always been an action comedy.
isn't marvel in general just packed with slapstick and frat comedy
Sure is. Some more than others.

Case in point.
Great scene between Yelena and Kate. This is start of a great friendship between them and setup for future MCU series and movies.
Yelena like mac and cheese with hot sauce.

Microsoft or good customer support. Pick either, not both ๐
Well if an attorney sues them, he might have a case
The article reads like a nightmare. Being on hold for literal hours, day after day with no resolution in sight. Over a simple 2FA error.
even worse being an attorney
I feel like this is going to be a very commonplace issue in society going forward
people trusting their entire lives into megacorpos services who can lock down or delete these accounts on any whim they might have
I dread running my own stuff.
If it breaks emails don't get queued, they just get lost outright.
Depends entirely on sender.
true!
tbh the same can happen on a big sender
if their ingress servers go dead for whatever reason it can have the same issue
Sure. But then they can resend emails. It's a lot harder for me to ask someone who didn't send me an email to send me it, if I wasn't expecting it
but the same can happen on big providers
Email doesn't quite have the same inherent design framework as physical mailboxes do.
as mentioned
its only fragile if you make it as such
the fact is i run the same stuff the big companies do for incoming emails
I'll bow out and say this much. I put a lot more faith in Google keeping my Gmail up than I do having a hosted mailserver at a provider as part of a domain package, let alone hosting it in my literal house on a server rack.
oh fuck no i do have my server in a datacenter
otherwise id have to basically have multiple ISPs, backup batteries, backup diesel gen and more to make sure the internet and power never go down
Same, at least until I have a proper proper server.
Even then idk
Email wise
at home i only run stuff thats non critical
Even then I wouldnโt host my emails at home, to much potential downtime
Oh I wouldn't host at home.
and at the dc i have 2 servers one for critical stuff that cant ever go down and my other one which then hosts frontends for endusers etc
I hosted an email server externally for a while but only for me mrpl.me domain.
Which I didn't really use plus my domain provider has email when it failed anyway.
But my current server provider blocks email ports
It's so good
Nope
4cpu/24gb ram x4 servers for example
Pretty neat
200gb extra storage but 20gb default
18TB month bandwidth
no 4cores and 24gb max use accross all instances
Nope
yes
because you only get 3000 cpu hours
on the account
not the instance
same for the ram
u get 18tb hours or smth
Wait no the ram sorry ye
which calculates to just what you can do if you use 4 cores and 24gb total
also the cores
My friend runs 4 servers
not with 4 cores each or they dont run all the time
you can select more cores than you have cpu hours
but after 3000 u get billed
so cores across all your instances times 24 times 31
Strange because I ran two servers myself
you have like 20hrs extra or smth with 4 cores
same for the ram
theres some extra ram
Ah it's 10tb network bandwidth, I got mixed up
even worse lol
Also it depends on the use I guess
also the 3000 hr limit means you can theoretically run quite a few instances with a lot more assigned
if you dont run them 24/7
ATM I use for my file host/VPN/bots/few other docker things.
You allowed use for anyone tho
yes cause what can go wrong if they can only upload images, gifs and videos
It's just for me
surely no evil can be done
ya well i wont trust any hosting because if anyone finds out the key,pw whatever is used for the upload auth... i can be royally frigged again
so copy to memory it is for me
Copy to memory?
ye it copies the image to clipboard for pasting
public filehost is a big nope to me
Twas a horrible situation
looking back its a wonder it hasnt happened sooner
Publix anything be bad
What happened
wooting server not big enough to get a channel lock feature
idk why discord lockes it to large servers
Hmm?
channel is in a different spot
Wait what?
Why would that be locked to certain servers?
It should just be a lock channels in the client UI for those who accidentally click drag
We have that.
yup
Can't move channels unless you toggle this on.
Looking that to specific servers is brain damage
nvm wooting got it over discoverable or something
still stupid that not all servers get it
Moving channels around is such an uncommon op that you should have to enter an edit mode to do it tbh
yup
the implementation is still flawed
but at least there is an option to disable accidental moving of channels
Yeah it isn't 100% obvious that the aforementioned toggle is what is required to prevent accidents. And it's on a per person case.
Anyway shouldn't game talk be below this channel
FINE - I'll move it AGAIN.
It's not like they're all going to change at some point anyway.

I'm really impressed with Creative. Their SBX / VSS is pretty good.
I remember CMSS-3D was good back in the day but had issues with aking some audio sound robotic
That's eliminated these days and basically it's just HRTF in games. Using it to play FF16 because I'm limited to headphones for it in this situation and it's pretty damn impressive, I went in expecting very little.
Also having a portable DSP and amp that can run off any USB connection in existence is pretty sweet
for those wondering:
HTRF (Homogeneous Time Resolved Fluorescence) is the most frequently used generic assay technology to measure analytes in a homogenous format, which is the ideal platform used for drug target studies in high-throughput screening (HTS).
lol
Manufacturer: Corsair. Manufacturer Part Number: CC-9011169-WW. Brand Name: Corsair. Product Line: Crystal. Product Model: 680X RGB. Product Name: Crystal 680X RGB Computer Case. No clue to the quality of the case, but a big discount
Anyone know if tidal have made flac their primary format yet?
it's corsair must be at least not bad
I just bought a Samsung 980 Pro SSD today, capable of PCI Gen 4 and up to 7000mb/s. Unfortunately upon installing it today and running CDM I noticed it's only running on ~3500mb/s limit, pretty much what most PCI Gen 3 drives do. Anyone an idea why? My CPU is a 5600X, which supports PCI 4, and my mobo is the Asus TUF B550 Plus, with the m.2_1 slot being PCI Gen 4 capable. Also tried specifically setting Gen 4 in the BIOS without success. It's also not sharing bandwidth with anything, as seen in the picture below
This is what it's supposed to look like
This is what it looks like
that is the m.2_2 slot on the picture though, not m.2_1? not sure why that graphic matters
it is in m.2_1, right?
yes
The graphic shows that the m.2_1 slot does not share bandwidth with anything
therefore that cannot be the issue
ah that is what you meant
then it does seem like it should work...
do you have other sata devices connected?
yes
aah that makes sense
But why does it do that
It definitely can do better, since two of my friends and my dad all run this ssd on this mobo
bios up to date?
yeah
that is really strange
reseat it? maybe it's not in all the way?
I'm reaching
๐
hmm
I'll try 1 sec
fixed!
The problem is that for some reason I lost my m.2 standoff screws so I am holding it in place with the heatsink
so it really was the fit?
yep
Oh in that case if some pins don't make contact running at x1 or x2 is one outcome, probably in real life use it would not matter much that it ran in x2 as that would be the same as pci-e 3 x4 which most of the time is plenty for real world use.
Reseating should do jack all.
You can run an NVME at a 45" angle and it won't care. Socket is made for it.
It's the standoff screw that is missing here, int that case the ssd may not be fully seated
angle is not the only potential issue here.
Nothing a bit of tape won't fix but I have had issues with that before myself.
If it's pushed in, it's seated. If it runs, it's seated.
There is no "oh it's about halfway in, so you get half speed"
This is functional. I would never recommend it, but it works.
There is
It was half way in, I got half speed
only two of the four lanes were connected
And I'm saying that's utter bs. That wasn't what caused it.
There are almost 80 pins. There is no way in hell that you somehow managed to angle it at just the right nalge to only cover some pins, without hitting a shorted ground somehow.
Now look at the pinout and tell me how that would have anything to do with this.
Rimworld done updating, ciao.
All I did now was pushing this in properly and now it works
so this is most likely the issue
boo
cucking for elon
and this is case in point why america is a meme
nobody does jack shit unless they stand to get filthy rich on it
so there's corruption and lobbying bs everywhere
and yeah, not letting a cabal of ultrarich corpobros rob the population blind for decades > cOmMuNiSm
they've done a great job gaslighting people into thinking anything else is communism though
just the lack of balance between x people making huge profits vs doing something that might actually benefit the greater good for once
but its all about making short term profit, all the time
that's the meme
not really
I see just as many other brand EVs here these days, if not more
tesla was pretty dominant in the early-mid 2010s, but has since fallen back quite significantly
Due to price drops and stuff, Teslas are getting more common here
Like in the past 2 years I'd say
nowadays the EVs I see the most often are kias, hyundais, vw/audi and polestar
there aren't really any primary charging infrastructure
its held by various companies
tesla superchargers are a pretty rare sight here
no idea, I don't drive an EV
but am pretty sure its not tesla in my country
I don't go looking at charging stations what brands they are no
am really rather uninterested in the whole EV cult thing
it may seem weird to americans, but europeans doesn't care all that much about brands slapping their shit everywhere or the status of owning x or y brand
like people would laugh you out of the room if you pointed out the color of someones chat bubbles
Where I live, there's loads of different companies that put up charging stations. Petrol pumps will have one, auto repair, some stores and whatnot. However, if we're talking the manufactuers of the charging stations, it will usually be E.ON and Clever
yeah there seems to be so many different companies behind these charging stations I've kinda given up keeping track
like the city municipality has one company doing them, mcdonalds has their own, some shopping center has their own
etc etc
E.ON is probably the biggest of the two. German company.
am guessing there's still some standard between the cars on the road though
truly the future of dating
or all this would be a major headache
I know two people who drives EVs, haven't really asked them any of the details
its just not in my books for a forseeable future to own or drive one
Yeah looking at PlugShare it seems a bit of a mess, although at least in EU there seems to be some kind of common standard (Type 2)
I think you only really need CCS plugs here honestly
Or at least for the faster charging stations
Yeah ig type 2 is the most common one...
CCS is only on the fast ones
That's a lot of loud
Imagine the crashes
yo can i yous it on ps5
Yes?
Tesla probably realized that since a standard plug would be enforced soon it was better to try and submit their own design as a standard candidate, or wind up in a situation where they would have to retrofit cars with a different incoming standard.
There are a lot of "standard connectors", and not all of them are suitable for the task at hand, so many countries have come up with their own standards.
You would think this shit would be easy considering we've been doing it for over a century, but everyone's got to design their own plug
Aahh Enelx way
Tesla seems to use DC only for charging. CCS1 seems to be designed to be designed around limited compatibility with the AC variant J1772 (such that EVs can be charged from either the AC or DC version)
they dont
ccs1 doesnt do ac charging, its purely using the data wires of the ac connector for the dc connector
A car with a CCS1 plug could be charged through a J1772 plug can't it?
yep
Yeah that was my point
same is true for a tesla
the tesla plug carries all of the same data comms as j1772
The Tesla can be charged by AC or DC? I thought you needed to get a powerbrick to convert to DC?
correct
the tesla connector supports ac and dc and multiple different dc protocols on top of that
the "brick" is a set of relays that are required for all ev "chargers"
and the tesla to j1772 adapter is microscopic and passive
Well if it works well then I suppose the CCS1 is simply overengineered
Which is better then underengineered
Does the overdesign of the CCS1 have a large impact on performance? It's not a big deal with the charger is a bit chunky
ccs1 is not overengineered tho
and its actually currently a big problem that the charger is huge
So is the Tesla underengineered then?
Or is this a case of CSS1 having to account for far more variables then the Tesla plug?
ccs1 just decided that they needed to keep j1772 mechanical compatibility
so they glued on some extra standards to j1772 to add DC without any changes to j1772
What problems does the fat plug cause? Too heavy for the old and feeble I am guessing?
or simply people that dont work out
there are ccs cables that weigh north of 30 lbs
That's the same weight as 7 regular jugs of milk
Yeah I can see that being a problem
to be fair most of the weight you just drag on the ground, and that is for longer cables
but still come on
regardless aptera hype
they announced they would have the tesla plug before it was called nacs
If you mean the whole cable, well most of that weight's required isn't it? I mean a lot of juice can cause inadequate wires to get HOT
most of the heat is from the plug
and the nacs plug allows for signficantly better cooling of the plug using water cooling
because of that, tesla is leaning more on liquid cooling to handle the extra heat, and saving an insane amount of money on copper
without liquid cooling you cant really go over 100kw, and we are now pushing 300
Didn't think that would have been cost effective, but I suppose people do go around stealing copper out of houses.
Some dudes once tried to steal my high school's gutters and down pipes because those were made out of copper
tesla does 250kw but at 600+ amps by overdriving the cables
if they switched their cars to 800v they could charge at 500kw with the same losses
highest production ccs is 350kw but at under 450 amps
and that uses liquid cooled cables too, just not as good because ccs
now im sure someone could engineer a ccs that can handle 600 amps
but why bother when tesla already did it
in fact people have engineered them, but tesla has productized it already
But more importantly, simply having more of them
I've even seen the battery semi that they bring to expand supercharger locations during holidays
at the moment they are also pretty cheap to charge at in germany
like for a lot of people it's cheaper to charge there than at home
it's inconvenient though
The end goal is everyone plugs in their cars at work during the day, then powers their home for the night partially from their ev battery
I bought a fancy 12 gauge extension cable and a dryer plug to 20a outlet adapter
My car still only charges at 1.4 because it's 120v but it absolutely works and is no fire danger despite the house being 50 years old or whatever it is
And someone can still park in the driveway and charge their ev in addition to mine if we ever got a l2 installed
Yeah that's a problem the us doesn't even care to solve

we would still need new power grids
not cheap
they had to upgrade the local powergrid for one of our sites already
since it tends to sit at around 500-600kw
you can l2 charge at home
Like the really dumb part is that folks think that charging takes a while and needs grid
No
The car itself is part of the grid
I mean it needs one of the two
To some extent
However the charging can take none of your time, and actually decrease grid load at the same time
For example, take in electricity while you work during the day, and then output electricity to your home at night
you mean charge when the grid is at a higher load and discharging when it is at a lower load decreases grid load?
what
5-8 pm is peak grid usage
Not anywhere that has sufficient solar
Usage doesn't matter
Energy flow however does
If you have a single plant producing all the power, that's a ton of flow
You need to distribute it everywhere
But if you have solar peppered around, the actual energy flow decreases drastically
we hover at ~50% renewables here
And so if you charge the cars in the city centers during the day with solar near said city center, and you have the folks use said power after they get home from their battery, their oven load runs from their car not the grid
network load is still higher during the day than at night
But it doesn't matter because you only need more power to maybe 1% the area
You replace needing to wire up every house with better service
you don't need quick charging at every house
When folks get home from work and start doing stuff is peak usage
Missing the forest for the trees
I can't find the proper statistics rn
but it's not rally a problem here
at least not at the current rate
it's not like everybody will drive a bev tomorrow
smart charging is also a thing, and with dynamic energy contracts even financially attractive
A single city is a million ish users
Instead of wiring up the entire metropolitan area with the infra to charge during the night
You have them all charge potentially from pure solar during the day and run their houses using your downtown's infra
you need extra infrastructure for the higher peak load though
Instead of wiring up 1000+ square miles or whatever metro area, you wire 1 square mile
you don't need extra infrastructure for charging at night
you also use up all "free" generation at day already
we don't live in a perfect society
Not even remotely close
where all power is generated automatically
neighbourhood batteries
We collect rounding errors of the power deposited on our heads during the day
so the main problem is not when we charge a car
but that we don't have enough pv
ok
But PV wouldn't help if we charged at night
yes
we don't have all and everything pv though
with the current system a gradual load curve is ideal
Because we dont have enough cars to charge during the day
Peak load is late afternoon at worst, 3vening usually
If your car is still charging after being plugged in since 8 or 9, something is wrong
=D
And it costs you money to charge it lol
Oh yeah that's another thing
Why do employees pay for their own commute, the company wants them to come to the office, so the company should provide the infra to charge the car there because it's possible
P sure y'all are second world but ye
And it would be the best for everyone if the car itself provided the electricity for that usage
not if you just distribute the load with not so great efficiency from another point
that would then become the peak load point
don't think i'm getting an EV any time soon, the prices are absurd
it's getting better
waay better
Yes second world not 3rd
If EVs exist, it's not 3rd world lol
if you want a car around that pricepoint it makes little difference between BEV and ICE tbh
you might have noticed that new cars are fucking expensive these days anyway
low end BEV still sucks though
But the efficiency is the same
i'd much rather spend that money on a proper car than a "tech filled" EV
it's not 100%
you get a "proper" tech filled car nowadays
Technically overall EVs are higher efficiency than the grid itself
you just move load from one point to a different one
Yeah my ev is relatively tech light compared to anything modern
Tho it ain't new lol
with like 95% efficiency
2023 rs6 still has some buttons on the dashboard compared to some EVs
Which is what 20x more efficient than the grid?
but you move energy FROM THE GRID
now youre just grasping for things to bitch about
so does a 2023 audi Q-whatever
yeah because i'm not a fan of controlling stuff through a touch screen
But at a more central location that you have more common infra shared with more people
thats not an ev thing, that is a car thing
yea gl you get that everywhere now
true im glad our newer car is still analog
mercedes replaced their old decent steering wheels with all capacitive buttons
on all models
In the only markets with affordable EVs (china and India) the EVs tend to be more button heavy than anything else
More because they have more features than the same priced ice vehicles but same story
what's the point of having a huge touch screen when you can have dedicated buttons that do the thing better and for cheaper?
Touch is cheaper
2023 RS6
i prefer buttons as well
Lol
ugh
ah wait
Even the ioniqs have more than that
they legit just use the same image for a lot of their cars
screens are way cheaper these days
I hope they at least have all options in the touchscreen menus
on mercedes some options are voice assist only
Oh god
Yeah my leaf has voice and it's probably about as good as the Mercedes and my leaf is 10 years old lmao
which is fine, just give me the option in a regular menu as well

never understood the appeal behind huge screens and "futuristic" look, especially in EVs
That's not production, the real one has a row of buttons below the screen for all the main features
which one
Oh wait NVM it's there just lower than I remember
Tesla is just rather extremist in their doing things
If Tesla sold for the same margins at everyone else, the cars would be half the price
like I can see why you would be turned off from tesla interior
but they pull off their "tablet experience" well
you don't have to search for options
They just managed to convince everyone to pay twice for their stuff vs everyone else thanks to yeah the experience
wdym
don't you have to use the screen to open a glove box? or was it somebody else
Tesla simply has less waste in terms of inessential costs
atm price/perforamnce tesla is looking pretty good here
and you don't have to pay for a trillion options
The model 3 is estimated to cost Tesla 19k to manufacture, 22k to the customer including externalities
Most other manufacturers would sell that for 27 maybe 32 max
Not 39 or whatever
funnily enough
in germany the price gap between a model 3 and a model y is like 500โฌ
oh nvm
model 3 prices came down
it's 4k now
Still Tesla could drop 10k from their price and still be making big bucks
it's not that they have good competition price wise
when energy prices were lower.. oh absolutely it was cheaper if you drover a lot per year
wdym
Still cheaper if you have your own solar or access to free chargers
I mean specifically EVs with that
obv you can buy somthing cheaper
but an ecorsa or dacia spring is not really comparable to a model 3
Even the tesla model s was cheaper to own than a gasoline car
what's the appeal of hybrids?
high efficiency
less maintenance, lower feul costs
like main appeal really is regenerative breaking being a thing
plugging in is (imo) just a bonus
might as well just go for an EV ?
not necessarily
Plugins allow you to even charge at home and avoid going to the gas station except for road trips
Batteries are spensiv
Cheaper to throw in a gas engine and a tank than a larger battery
a hybrid is much more of a "competition" to reg ICE cars than BEVs
Yup
hybrids are ways to comply with regulations
Wanna go 1000 miles today? An ev will be distinctly more stops than a Prius of the same generation
and to extend the life of the gas and oil industry
not necessarily
The newest Prius looks great, cheaper than a model 3, costs the same to fuel on the road, and has 2x the range per filling
for example all non-plug in hybrids
don't get benefits in most regions
that plug ins get
legal ones that is
you still get very good efficiency
for lexus for example it is an easy way to increase the efficiency on their heavy cars
non plugin hybrids dont even get to use the parking spots reserved with chargers :p
why should they
funnily enough
if you got something like the more recent golf gte
which was BEV only
they shouldnt but would come in handly where i live
you still don't get to park on charger spots here
unless you got a new plate for it

since the E-plates only became a thing later on
I mean that as in the plate has an extra E on it
not electronic plates or something
like we also have H-plates
electric cars are the future, ice cars are the way of the dodo
for "historic" vehicles
at least looks that way atm
aahh, i thought hydrogen cars
nope
and dont get me started on that :p
also not a fan
even though the company I work at is benefitting from the hydrogen industry
aka a tank

oh we def need loads of hydrogen
to replace the current hydrogen being created for industry from gas
YIKES
was hoping mid/late 2024
maybe RDNA4 might be out months before next gen nvidia
Possibly but we don't know the exact timing of AMD's next gen either
its pretty crazy that amd is valued higher than intel, and nvidia is worth over a trillion
nvidia gained more from making an AI announcement than they ever had as a gaming brand

Nice
Someone copied and pasted the source instead of typing it out properly
Or accidentally disabled formatting in the app
Css or js probably didn't load
who reviewed em?
Crin did a very short review
Basically they are just not worth it against any of the budget options there are rn
In isolation they are okay but that's not how the market works
as expected, thats how these cult of personality brands work
dolby is absolutely a cult of personality brand
Kinda ig
and thx labs have produced one thing relevant this century lel
heck this millenium even
Hmmm
Yeah I can believe that
I wonder why Kottick would know that, though
Acti - Blizz doesn't really publish much on Nintendo if anything at all
ICYMI: Canada has launched a bid to attract techies working in the USA on the notorious H-1B visa, by offering them the chance to move north.
More right here: https://t.co/16YQu0nsfP
I wonder if that could spell the beginning of a new silicon valley, but in like Vancouver or Montreal.
Canada is a lot cheaper than U.S
And EU is a lot cheaper than North America
China is cheaper than nearly anything else
EU should see more industrial development though, as U.S gets more and more into financial troubles
Apparently this Visa was/is very popular with Indian tech workers, but notorious for forcing people to leave the US if they get fired and can't find work very quickly.
Canada be like - Hold on there, bud. We'd be more than happy to bring you up eh?
I'll stay here in EU for my life or just move to New Zealand to stop caring for everyone's bullshit
EU's just that perfect balance of everything
And NZ is a paradise where you are so far from everything else
LOL
unfortunately they are becoming more common
both of the last 2 kvms i bought use them
the only places i see A to A is china shit
anything serious knows to follow the spec and not use A to A cables
sure but i aint spending an extra grand on a kvm that doesnt even support hdmi 2.1
the issue is when the marketing is like this
LOL
and especially on a site like walmart where people won't know why it's bad
walmart online just sucks
I'm only buying off of it because I have like 40$ worth in gift cards
average walmart in america be like
honestly just probably going to get a bluetooth speaker and sugru
!!! sweet
If you got plex, 143$
Can also buy the 5$ monthly Plex thing and it'd still save your money
wish i could go open-back but environments too noisy
Yeah the 6xx is a pretty stellar deal at 140$. Not heard them, but according to ASR, they're within variation for the HD600 basically.
6XX, 600, and 650 are identical pretty much outside of very minor things and can all be EQ'd to sound like each other, so best to go with whats cheapest
I probably never would've got the HD600 if they hadn't had the pricing error, so glad I did. Sound excellent.
Lmao, PC?

Nvidia..
Man

They are trying hard to shill a card to 1060 users when it runs worse than a 3060Ti or even 3060 at times
A 3060 user has no brains if they actually buy a 4060
I feel stupid
Really really fucking stupid
This entire time I was using Bluetooth to stream music from my phone to my Google Nest
YOU CAN FUCKING CAST TO IT LIKE A CHROMECAST

Duh?
Wait wait

Rog ally gets so hot, SD cards shoot out
Having trouble getting my SD card out of the ROG Ally so I can pack the whole thing back up and return it. Decided to just run a game on it for awhile since the extreme heat near the SD card slot eventually pushes the card out on its own.
567
extreme heat and flash memory chips doesn't go along well even without the toaster ejection quirk

Heat it up so it goes faster
was kinda lowkey impressed with the design/engineering of my asus laptop inside with a pretty efficient and silent cpu/gpu cooling system and liquid proofed kb/trackpad module
seems they forgot a thing or two along the way
Looking up this
It's worse than I thought
Many many reports of this but also some about SD cards failing regularly
187 votes and 349 comments so far on Reddit
Yeah the ROG Ally, real clusterfuck
not surprised they're failing if they're literally being used as a heatsink inside the machine
wtf were they thinking with that
Cat
Does Asus provide more Than 2 years of updates?
idk ;-;
I love this color
I use mine without one
Only went wrong for me once ...
Outside of the nagging the mobile site is the best reddit client on mobile
Grand?
bish
I spend 250 most on my phone
nu ;-;
Im guessing 800?
yep ;-;
huh?
I have 6gb and happy with that
yes because people understand that its too smol to upgrade easily
laptops have daughterboards
if people made 7 inch laptops that stayed the same thickness sure
Only because of this stupid glass trend
yea vote with your wallet
there are plenty of durable meme phones, and some of them are even competent
Pixel would be perfect if it wasn't for the way the camera is
and iphone would be perfect if it werent for the way that apple is
but uh it be how it be
๐คท actually seems to me that theres metal there as the most protrusive part
The lens is still directly in front
i mean you cant put anything besides glass in front of the lens lmao
they have steel raised around the edges
i prefer the peak system
Its coming in direct contact with the service so just moving your device while it down stresses me out
alot less obnoxious looking
I need a phone mount for my car without the need to stick a magnetic sticker onto the back of the phone that will interfer with NFC payment and I can't remove
๐คท its an extremely positive and strong mount
Just get a good olde cd player one
What
The streamlined yet rugged Out Front Bike Mount lets you rigidly mount your phone to your bike's handlebars, access it instantly, and even flip it up to film your ride. Built from ultralight machined/anodized aluminum, the Out Front Bike Mount features an ultra-strong magnetic/mechanical mounting technology (called SlimLink) that grabs and locks...
i have one of those from peak for my phone
except you pay with a super thick case
@wheat plume
my case is less than a milimeter over the camera bump and has no protrusion
They work well
when i was looking, i found a review that tested all 4 systems, and the quadlock came out on its own in their car test
https://www.peakdesign.com/products/car-mount?_pos=2&_sid=9320ed1ed&_ss=r
its dang expensive, but it charges my phone and the magnets are very strong
A phone mount that is so beautiful, secure, and intuitive, that once you install it in your car, you'll feel like it was there from the start. That's because unlike flimsy, bulky plastic car mounts that stick out like sore thumbs, the Peak Design Car Mount is made from a beautiful machined/anodized aluminum and mounts directly to your dash or co...
the quadlock case looks actually atrocious lol

peak sells a ball mount

yep
The wireless charger is nice
the mount is thick because the case is thin
it also latches in without you having to turn the phone
to pull it off you push one of the buttons on the side
its a beautiful system but its expensive
here is the video i watched
https://youtu.be/WGLXoSVPi_k?t=55
This video has been weeks in the making. We spent over $1000 on mountable cases and accessories and unless youโre riding motorcycles, the best mountable iPhone case is going to be the Mous Evolution w/ IntraLock. We came to this conclusion after testing each product for the protection it will offer your device, the design of the mount, the stren...
the peak broke in their testing, but the phone remained attached
the quadlock the mount detached
and their only complaint with the peak system besides the case cracking was that it didnt have a dampening mount, but now they have a dampening mount
https://www.peakdesign.com/products/universal-adapter
peak also has a universal adapter that is slim, magnetic, and comes with official 3m vhb
Install this adhesive-backed adapter on the back of a 3rd party phone case to make nearly any phone compatible with Peak Design Mobile mounts and accessories. Why am I today year's old and I only realised the clock icon shows the actual current time on it????
its rather strange
it feels like fabric but it feels more like a solid material
๐คท if you could, there would probably be reports of that online
been using mine the entire year and its still clean
and im extremely sweaty
its not cyclist clothing, I sweat like a pig as well and ive never used that special clothing
i carry 4 hand towels and fill all 4 each day
i switch before i can wring them out lol
Fun with that much climate variety
am quite content with our 4 seasons here
though to be fair winter is the disproportionally largest/longest one
Solid deal
Getting the cheapest tier deck and an 1TB M.2 SSD is landing right in the middle price tier deck here, the cheapest tier + 2TB would be more expensive than the highest tier deck , could potentially get some cheaper from AliExpress but yeah
for now, wait a bit longer and the price would come down

Ezpz
Sabrent is priced at โฌ230 here
same as ifixit lol
well there you go
ez pz and cheap
my deck has less than 500gb free out of 3tb
been working through all of the games i own that i havent played before
but humble is filling the list faster than I clear it out
Could just buy the chepest and use a MicroSD for a while and just thinker around
tbh i cant play games on the deck unless im out
the ssd also helped the general ui speed
tho after installing all the games, it slowed back down
https://www.reddit.com/r/JSAUX/comments/14i7lb9/jsaux_backplate_destroys_itself/? Here's something for those considering the JSAUX backplate
Would just use the Deck when i'm at the Summer cottage or traveling. Also the Ally seem to have it's problems atm. was considering it because of the better chip and display to play while i'm away buut yeah
i use it at home these days as my room gets hawt with my pc on
One of the reasons I wanna upgrade is watt efficiency lol
Less heat because summers are the worst for gaming haha
its not efficiency, just power usage
my pc is more efficient, but its so much higher performance
Yeah and all these hot CPUs and GPUs ain't helping
Yeah but I can upgrade and undervolt
Don't have to stick to the many watts they consume
The upgrade path i've got atm. is going to 13th gen so yeah undervolting helps sure but still
The games I play often won't fully utilise the specs, especially on a newer PC
ive got nothing to upgrade to ๐ฆ
Suffering from success
I kinda wanna build a smaller PC, not sure to go for M-ATX or mini ITX
amd decided that am5 wouldnt have any pcie x8 chipset motherboards, joining intel
๐ฆ

just solder other nand chips to the ssd easy and cheap
Flawed quite possibly but looking at the cracks it may very well have been over tightened and combined with a more brittle plastic that may form a crack.
Not saying it's good quality, it probably isn't but user error may also have been a factor here.
Maybe, yeah
Yeah kinda miss the PSP, modded GTA:LCS on PSP forever ago was a really nice time with the modding community (And other games)
Kinda one can put it in hibernation mode but with melting SD cards and the overall janky Windows, eeh
The Ally has better display and chip than the SD and also when you lock the TDP to 18W is said to be perfect on the Ally still both the SD and Ally use 40WHrs batteries and so both have that against them but nothing that a power bank won't solve
and windows simply runs better
and now that big picture mode has updated, besides the hud, you now get the same experience in steam
Zenphone 10 has headphone jack ๐คค
take that Apple, tiny phone got jack and you dont
โฌ800 and software for potentially 2yrs?
they can't hear you from having their ears stuffed with dollar bills
Yeah..thats the issue ;-;
But i've got dongles everywhere now lol
