1800 euros in the netherlands no wonder they are good for gaming too
I'm not spending $1200 on any headphones
why is using iems for pc not that common still
ive been doing exactly that and i'm completely fine
granted, i have full size speakers for music
my chair is uncomfortable, chairs suck
Get a herman miller then
If your iems arent comfortable then get better tips lol
I have custom molds for mine, and I forget they are in
The whole concept of insertion is inherently uncomfortable
Wut
Also IEMs just don't sound as good as headphones
You'll never match the sound range of a headphone with your tiny IEM driver
Lmao not true at all
If you spend like 3x more than of a comparably sounding headphone then yeah sure, you can sound similar
But you will be paying 3x more, there's no buts or ifs about it
You can push 130+ db flat with a $100 iem and an eq
They won't sound anywhere near as good technically
I have plenty of an idea, I own good IEMs and I have tried some higher end ones
They don't scratch anywhere near what I would want from headphones
Same. I hate IEMs and will always prefer headphones. Not soundwise but I don't like paying 300โฌ just to get custom iems so they are not uncomfortable. Just to get the same audio quality as decent studio headphones for a 1/3 of its price
Bias doesn't make a product better
Go look at actually response graphs for even mid level iems
Response graphs don't indicate tonality

I care about driver performance
How good is the sound coming out from the driver
If you have a shit driver, it won't sound as good as a proper good ass big diaphragm
Also custom molds are like $150
Does anyone know how the Keycaps for 60he are made?
In a factory
- the driver itself and you have to make new molds every 3-5 years. Quite pricey compared to regular headphones tbh. But if you prefer it, go enjoy
In what sense? We have a keycap manufacturer who makes them to our specifications like anyone else. ๐
im asking because the Spacebar on mine is crooked
Ah. No. It is not. The PCBA is screwed in more on the right side of the keyboard.
If you take the keycap off and lay it on a perfectly flat surface, it should also be flat.
Not really they last longer than that. Mine are silicone and oldest is over 5 years
nah kinda crooked
Hmm... so could be poor QC on BLANK's side. Reach out to us via email at social@wooting.io and we'll see what we can do. ๐
Aye aye
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeYnbhPzHig Could also do this
โ ๏ธ Be careful when using boiling water.
In this video we will show you a simple and effective method to fix a warped PBT spacebar. This will also work on other longer PBT keycaps like the shift or backspace.
โค Follow Wooting online: https://links.wooting.io/?id=VYzZf
โค Twitter: https://twitter.com/wooting...
Ye i dont want a new one, i jsut wanted to let production know so they can check on their supplier
ty tho man
Well that's easy. We're no longer getting stock from them. Ever.
We're making our own keycaps now. Blank was originally a way to get PBT keycaps for our products as an option, before we had the money to invest in our own molds (PBT molds are very pricy to set up)
But customers should obviously have what they pay for - If a keycap is bad, we replace it. ๐
oh lul already sent email
Just bring out a 100% version and send me proper keycaps when i buy it xdddd
uhhh
60he with ARM Processor but 100%
You can now get it with ARM?
Both the 60HE and 2HE use the exact same ARM MCU.
Been able to since... fall? Thereabouts.
Of course with the restock delays on top.
Should be ARM then can check it in software too
It'll say on the sticker below the keyboard and in Wootility, yeah ๐
Well
Here i go spending money again fugggg
What was the other one thats not ARM again?
2HE and 60He used to both be AVR based.
But we changed that back Spring/Summer last year for all future productions.
ah nice
The 60He shouldn't be difficult to resell if you want a 2HE and don't want a 2nd keyboard though ๐
Does anybody know if/when we will be getting this capability?
Im currently using my old Logitech G510s for the 18x3 Macro keys/Numpad and my 60he for gaming
Might just use it at work lmao
I think this is a memory limitation. So probably never, in favour of more demanded stuff like in-memory macros and other things? ๐
I'd love to be able to recolor all of my keys that are used when holding the "Fn" key down. I've seen it on Steelseries boards before.
You can do that though. Just not use the animations.
Are the macros that we can set up not stored on the "PCB"?
Oh!! Really??
Everything is stored onboard. That's why we don't have macros in Wootility.
However #๐ปโwootomation is a macro app that lets you do that. Needs to be running at all times though to intercept and do macros.
Base layer
While holding FN
is the macros a memory limitation
Ahhh...my apologies for making you explain this to me.
I've seen the wootomation thing, which sounded to be open source and available for every keyboard. I assumed that was the macro functionality as I have barely played around with mine since I received it yesterday. I immediately threw it into a Klippe T case and tape modded this beautiful expletive.
I also added colors to the Fn Layer manually. SWEET!!!!
it would be quirky if you could just add a layer for every .mm the keypress goes down and it does an action lol

Any plans of having a Wooting keyboard with some kind of force-feedback on the swtiches?
I love the Hall effect sensors but I also like clicky feeling
Doesn't work with hall effect
Tactile would kinda ruin the hall effect mechanic
Like, maybe Wooting could look into some kind of adjustable rumbles where you can set your own tactile "rumble" feedback
But it'd be really really expensive I imagine, not worth it
I also think it would be expensive, but I disagree that it would not work with hall effect sensors
just not the classic way
well this isnt true, you could make a mechanical force feedback but it would ruin the smoothness
I think someone more versed would explain
more like the way apple does the "virtual click" on their touchpad
I think @old marlin has a lot of experience with keyboards, and could explain better
that would not work as it uses magnets
I asked this question before, and I was told "fuck off", or no
as someone who doesn't like "smooth" linear switches that is an acceptable tradeoff to me ๐
you enjoy stock browns?
you would have to have a haptic feedback device on every slider/keycaps
^ which isnt impossible but it also couldnt be the same force feedback used on anything besides the ps5 controller
brown or blue low-profile low-travel switches were my favourite before i got a wooting
a tactile version in general would be possible ig, only way to have it "easily" adjstable is with clickleafs though
then you could "just" open every switch to swap the leaf for a different fixed tactile point
id be super down for a click leaf wooting
that is if they can get a material to make leafs out of that don't interact with the magnet
^ is the problem
I mean gateron is one of the few companies that has clickleafs to begin with
it's probably more difficul since it also uses magnets, just like the sensor. But again i think it's not impossible it's just expensive keeping those two mechanisms separate
the magnets are not the problem
unfortunately physics disagrees
but like
imagine you sit in a car
and somebody kicks against the tire
you will barely feel it
and then somebody kicks against the suspended part
aka somewhere on the cabin
and you will feel it to a much higher degree
since it was not connected via a flexible joint
like a spring
I don't think so. just physically put the feedback part away from the sensing part. phyics agrees ๐ make the keystem larger
?
the sensing is not even the problem
like just assuming you are able to filter it out 100%
you just won't notice a haptic feedback motor that is not on the stem or keycap
like even if you had super stiff 200g springs
it would be too dampened
actually heres a crazy idea
make every key a linear actuator
couldn't you have a permanent magnet in the keystem?
you do already
I meant for force feedback to emulate a tactile point
so you want it to have a coil that essentially is able to increase drag on the stem?
I mean
yup
are you ready to pay like 3 times for your keyboard?
yes
as long as i can adjust between 65 and 200 grams
and then ask gateron VERY nicely
you would at best be able to increase force on a few keys
since the powerdraw would be too high to makeit super powerful force feedback
so I guess the answer is "no"
because this
at least for now
you could "easily" adjust for the curve
since you know how much power you are putting inside the system
should be easy to adjust for
it's just ridiculously complicated
implementation and controlling of it
not to mention manufacturing
well so my idea is more to use linear actuators like they have on camera lenses that are running a pid system on each individual key
then you monitor the pids to notice how much force the person is putting on the key
and you could adjust the pids to adjust the force as well

but those actuators cost 10s of dollars each lmao
not aware of any active maglev switch btw
i mean if they can make passive ones then active ones would also exist
passive ones are SOOOOO much easier
1500 USD keyboard. maybe a few would buy it. but yeah not everyone is as crazy as me
so much so that we have 2 DIY designs
1500 is too much tbh
yea now add mentioned PID for each
and the compute power for it
i mean you only need 1 large fpga, on the order of $200 or a few smaller ones
would also be a hotplate
PID is an algorithm, right? not every key needs its own MCU
you need to monitor constantly however
https://hackaday.com/2021/08/02/mag-lev-switches-are-the-future-of-clacking/
https://hackaday.com/2022/02/08/3d-printed-maglev-switches-are-so-hot-right-now/
While thereโs probably a Cherry MX clone born every year or so, itโs not often that such a radically different type of switch comes along. These โVoidโ switches are Hall-effโฆ
the riskable ones are especially interesting imo
top ones that is
entirely fdm 3d printed
If you want to chat with me I'm riskable#4986 on Discord and @riskable:matrix.org on Matrix. You can support me via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/riskable
i mean any magnet mounted near a pcb can be replaced by a pcb coil
you want the coil to be around the stem
to make the magnetic field smaller
otherwise it is just a hotplate
so cut a hole in the pcb ๐คท
ok next idea
do whatever they do for stabilizing camera sensors in phones
then rotate all of them to push upwards and replace the camera sensor with the bottom of the stem
actually
periscope cameras
they already are basically what we need here
replace all the lens elements with plastic and a spring and bobs your uncle
the system would only cost somewhere in the $10k range
ooh and it would be ez pz to put a screen under each key lmao
190 miles of ev range for 11k
Buy Benz
is that CATLs new battery or does BYD make their own?
byd makes their own
When is that car showing up with the battery you replace like,,,, whenever it dies? I cant remember any details about it
its already out in the eu
and useless in the us because you need such an insanely larger amount of infrastructure
NIO
yea
but the 59##x hedt parts were also leaked and nothing exists
this leak is not credible its just wcctrash picking up anything on the street and running with it
Interesting! I dont much like it tbh, considering the whole process of making EV batteries and such but oh well I guess !
which is why this is interesting
im confused, how does invidious work?
yes but how does it work on the back end?
afaik mpv and vlc use the youtube api tho
and the instances I can see look nothing like real youtube
what?
who said anything related to that?
they arent competing with youtube tho
the part that youtube cares about is the recommendations
if you make a browser extension that intercepts any time you click on a youtube link and sends it to mpv, youtube wouldnt be happy, but you are sitll on youtubes webpage if you want reccs
the difference is that invidious or whatever is distributing software that is mass scraping youtube
vanced got hit because they were distributing the actual app that belonged to youtube
revanced is now doing nothing that breaks tos
it somehow looks like a forza car
and razer has just coppied wooting and failed by a little bit
they tried to coppied the rapid trigger and some of features
idk but optimium vid explains breifly what they did
same as wooting 1
dont think it uses a prism?
i think its just the further down, the more light passes through a hole?
it partially interrupts the beam with the plastic on the right. its basicaly like a triangle
the deeper you press the more it interupts
the switch was previously digital
we dont know how it does the analog because its a new version presumeably
before it was a super boring optical switch, now its a less boring optical switch
i literally explained it
its the same princupal of less or more light like the w1 and w2
think every is missing vial info here
so what are your thoughts on what razer did
wooting > every single keyboard company in the world and theres no poito get a new keyboard unless theres a new product thats better from wooting
we love that the tech spreads but they could have at least copied it better
like limit the sensitivity to what it actually is
I thought you guys would be a bit upset tbh
its causes better prouducts at the end of the day
we want to push the industry
The light gate is essentially a slope
So it blocks only some amount of light until it is at the end of the detectable travel
Well gl
They are a bitch to tear down
It being harder to show btw
The flaretech ones are easy to explain in a 2D format
Coming in a review soon (but not this week :P ). Today we're looking at Razer's optoelectric switches, also marketed as Light Strike Libra or DMET MJ3.0. This comprises the (dampened) linear variety, as well as the clicky switches, which use an intriguing click bolt mechanism. Hope you enjoy the video! :)
My keyboard reviews: http://bit.ly/1Tb...
shows and explains them
idk if thats the one in the v2 but those were analog capable
they'd probably price it around the apex pro lineup
yes
at least thats how i understood everything ive found about it including prior understanding of opto electric switches
I havenโt read into it yet, am at work. Mercedes is working on having us repair the EV batteries, instead of replacing the entire thing. Which I do enjoy
different designs need different thigns
the nioh would still need the cell repair, except the customer can drive off in 2 minutes while you toil for hours fixing the pack
thats why its limited start and end
also why we had to limit it on flaretech
same for why the lift of only reacts after roughly .3mm rapid trigger on .1
it just cant detect such small changes usually
The only difference is that we transparently provide that information instead of bullshitting and hoping that people don't notice
For the flaretech boards that is, the hall effect boards do 0.1 no problem ๐
look for the ladder
5800X3D, does the test not go into memory?
damn
download intel mlc
the results arent comparable to intel results but should allow you to compare xmp on vs off
looks like it
dunno if that is acceptable for 3200cl14
i dont really know how chipsncheese latency compares to aida or mlc
https://chipsandcheese.com/memory-latency-data/ references are here
but thats more for cpu not for ram testing
intel mlc is gud
how can i add a digital key to the keyboard? like a letter for example.
under remap in wootility, drag the letter you want onto the key?
yes but can i add a letter then drag it to the key i want?\
what letter would you add lol
i cant find my one arabic letter xD
no dice
you may have to make a macro
whats a macro
ah i see, thanks ๐
you may be able to create it using dks and an alt code?
ah nope, dks can only do 4
you would have to hold alt, then hit dks for the symbol
ime?
i think the video is my answer
thats an api
ุฐ here's the l ittle guy ive been looking for

all images except the cockpit view look like forza images and i think i figured out why... the cockpit image has details games dont have like lint on the seat and it super crisp like only real life can be
i think the outside images all being blurry to begin with and then some having different focal planes makes it look like straight out of a game
Win11 build 21380 got leaked (downloadable here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eZZOM3ll5otjRWVqtQV0PvLxeWN2Jujr/view)
- Internet Explorer in this build is still alive.
- There are some tiny differences on system taskbar icons(such as Search, Start menu)
- The task view in this build is like Win10+Win11
- Dark mode has outlines
- Unlike current Win11, TPM and Secure boot and etc requirements are not needed
I guess why this is somewhat important, is this might be the earliest available Win11 version so far?
2021 March build, public release was October
Found a wiki entry of it, a rather unique build https://betawiki.net/wiki/Windows_11_build_21380
I don't even upgrade Windows versions for several months after it's been publicly released as stable... I'm sure as hell not going to install some "leaked" dev build with untold numbers of zero days
Ok boom.. nah, just Ok

Is there a better way than changing the interface metric to have windows prioritize one ethernet connection over the other as muhc as possible?
Basically have the second one only be used if the first one doesnt work?
Hello, I have a question can i put the wooting 60he into 65% case ?
It's called the 60he not the 65he for a reason
if the case is just larger that will work, will just be empty on a side then I guess lol
I don't know if the mounting points on 65% cases are different though
Okay ty
Definitely one of the better ones
what makes them good?
their wearos stuff has particularly awful battery life, and their non wearos stuff doesnt seem to even be smart, just a fitness tracker
its a design brand... the internals are all of the shelve chinese stuff usually
while they work they are as the name design brand suggests focused on design
if you want a smartwatch get a samsung or apple one
Samsung no

Apple no

Ah
great I think my internet issues are from the router overheating, but I can't open it up because its the isps shit station zzzzz now on monday a tehnician has to come out just to likely swap the box and nothing else lmao
Your router got a 4090?
I could get my own box but I only use the basic one out of spite because its free and I dont want to pay for what I think should be included in the contract
Interesting
its the basic ass oem version they rebrand for every company and works fine but has nothing special
That actually looks sleek
it looks like somebody has no brain because you cant rmeove the metal part so its impossible to put it into any place where you want to mount it to the wall or sideways
instead of a fucking normal box it had to be some angled rectangle you cant properly store
They could at least put mount holes on it on two sides
oh there are two on the other side
but still not able to put it straight onto the wall because of the metal rod
Well that is just sad
well at least I can tell the technician what is likely the issue and can also ask him when the fuck they finally get above gigabit internet laid out here
thats the other sides
it does its job its just cheapo OEM rebrands that is also used for US ISPs apparently
two holes above for mounting
Oof those would need spacers
the black hangers are someones custom solution here
yeah
also the first 6-12 months depending on product are technically not covered by warranty but by guarantee in the EU
so yeah the stickers are meaningless
you can basically do anything reasonable in that time and they need to proof your actions would cause the issue
Yeah that can be quite tricky
Unfortunate that there is not a screw hole on that box as well, I saw the same double holes on payment terminals and people knock those down so often
its just not simple to open and a hassle so might as well just force them to deal with it
Yeah
Also Locke
I guess it makes sense it overheating and all
I see no ventilation holes
Yeah time to drill some
top and bottom
Ah alright then
And then slap a fan or two on it
it shouldnt need much I just notice its getting a lot warmer in an area where I assume the chip is and when I unplug it and let it cool down it works fine for a while
Might be time to liquid cool the router๐
and I dont have any heatsink or anything I could put on the plastic to help that issue
Yeah plastic is a great insulator
well some small fins on top would probably help since it should just be a few watts
even through plastic
Anybody here using a curved monitor and is it any good?
Yeah but oled is a $1000 and 1440p
Right
curved is a need if you go larger than 16:9
fair, but for gaming I would argue it still needs a curve, productivity depending on what
But a curved 24" is stupid then right?
Interesting
I dont see any benefit to it
Curved has shitty panels iirc
I think the only good curved ones are OLED
Pretty sure most of not all non OLED curved monitors use va panels
no? There's plenty of ips ones iirc
Nvidia: best I can do is 6
The problem for NVIDIA this generation is that they don't want workstation / pro users to buy cheap cards.
For certain workloads such as computer vision the most important part is the amount of vram.
They don't mind it if those users buy 4090's but they don't want them to buy $400 16gb vram cards.
While cuda is not as required now as it was in the past, it still menas amd / intel don't have to factor this in.
Of course, this is all NVIDIA being greedy, but it is their road to profit maximization.
ya but they basically burn their company down with the clowneray
and im almost usre the workstation and pro users would buy the highest end 40 series cards or quadro anyway purely because of the compute advantage
unless they stopped making quadro cards now
While that is an option, noone wants to spend more than they have to, if their workload works on a $400 card they will buy one.
I know my brother's place of work mostly bought 3090's for their amount of vram, quadro's with that amount were a lot more expensive
Then they should just do what they did for mining, lower cuda performance in gaming cards via driver. Since a business wonโt use driver hacks really
Donโt like the idea much but better than putting less ram on it so in some years itโs just not running your games anymore
ya idk this whole they dont want workstation/pros to buy low end cards sounds like a BS thing
we almost exclusively sold quadro cards never even recommending the 3090 or so series cards
the simple fact was that the quadro drivers dont have any gaming BS in them and will most likely be way more stable over a long time
not to mention 4 display ports which all our customers appreciated
Nah there are a lot of cases of using the 3090 and such but I donโt think they would use the lower tier card even with more ram
As they still need some performance and bandwidth
I am unsure exactly but it's a commonly sited thing,
I know in the case of my brother they really did not benefit from more compute than a 3060 would have offered

Well not quite.
It's a preview. They fully expect game devs to do it themselves in practice. Something about the licensing.
yeah its not quite clear though and people arent sure if it will be fine to ship with the layer or not after all
I like that they're finally taking gaming more serious, and that there's some horsepower to get some games playable.
I still don't like their SOC approach and the pricing. Gaming is still 100% an afterthought on your 2000$ "video editing creative platform"
Oh yeah for sure
If not for vision I dont think they even would've worked on this translation layer

eh
ideally you don't wanna touch the desk with your wrist while typing anyways
so it doesn't really matter that much

no problem for me
good typing posture makes it easy

Safari can only get updated when the OS itself gets an update?????
Safari is an app, it can get updates whenever
ok, good
This is something Windows does too you know?
Feature updates tend to coincide with OS updates
Edge and such updates via Windows Update.
Shockingly enough
Surely not the Chromium Edge, right?

Linux is just shit
They mostly always come with Firefox
What can I say?
The only exception are some that use Chromium by default, or Vivalid in FerenOS
Also some of Safariโs new features are absolutely insane
Gnome desktop comes with Epiphany browser :P
Pretty much every distro comes with Firefox
Except ones that use Chromium or Vivaldi or DeepinOS, who make their own browser
Tried cyberpunk, something proven to work
Use DeepinOS then :P they have their own inhouse browser
And it works really well
โUse x distroโ
Why not just use MacOS

Likewise
My windows machine will just be for gaming tbh
tbh, appleโs costs for Mac storage upgrades
Prevent me from ever considering Mac for anything other than a game or two on the go

Should telemetry be a concern? Is the data sent really anonymous/when does anonymity not compensate
Throw out your suspicions but is it worth transitioning to a Linux distro for the sake of being able to opt out for telemetry?
if you then also dont use any google site like youtube, no facebook site, discord probably not a good idea as well and at least all behind a VPN
and then the VPN data is tied to your uniqueue case and you stick out even more so pick your poison
How โdefensiveโ is the duckduckgo browser
its better, but it's also just bing and I cant use bing because the results are just shit

That was sitting on 3.6
Fair to Intel, I do wanna do maybe direct die in the near future
And that could be cnc machined
Ah yes tinkering is always fun
Plus the contact frame looks more nice than some bits of aluminium and a latch
What the heck the motherboard CPU holder has the screws barely tensioned
So much better looking
Ok so just put a bigger pea drop and itโs the same
GN had already tested that it basically doesnโt matter as long as you have enough so it can spread out
Assuming itโs not some weird curved ihs that doesnโt evenly spread it
So long as it does not overheat not a big deal is what you are saying
Now that sounds interesting
No im saying out enough on it and it makes actually no difference how you do it
.3 C doesnt change anything
Alright
Just put the whole tube-
I mean. If itโs not conductive it will make a mess but work lol
Alright alright
just put the rest on the pins
Hah nice try

Probably will do nothing
That one gamers nexus clip
But a nightmare to clean it out of a lga socket
We've all seen people say "that's too much thermal paste." Most the time, it turns out, they're wrong. This test benchmarks thermal paste application methods.

Personally I do the 5 dot method, Gets me the most consistent spread
No buttered toast
Alright I will try that
I did that one n have below 70C maxed out pretty much
I tried my best to hide cables ๐ฆ
Also for some stupid fucking reason
It reset my RGB profile
Aka everything turned off
I wish I had a low profile ram rn
Wait I think I can
@ashen spindle do you think I can get away with using cha fan for my CPU fans
-10c improvement
This nice considering fans are on silent and my room is 33c
few degrees above yours and room temp is supposed to be like 25c
What's cooler
thermalright axp-90 x47
loque ghost s1๐
is your PC case the Lian Li O11 air mini, by chance?
Loooks like corsair?
yea from what I can tell it's one of the corsair airflow cases
The PCI brackets definitely scream Corsair.
Pretty sure its a 4000d airflow White
I think my mouse has finally started to double click sometimes
;-;
BRUH where my dongle at doh
huh?
i still need to replace my steel series sensei raw :/
your room is 33C
It is currently 30 degrees in my apartment, and the hotest part of the day is still six hours from now
Thankfully I have AC blowing directly on myself and my cat
WHen its that hot inside... i'll have a park office day
Is she swaying in the basket from the breeze?
No the basket is (almost) in the sunlight now, so she's avoiding it haha
๐
The cold air from the AC blows over my desk so she's chillin on her pillow next to it

Nope
I'm not a basic bitch
UK houses are built to keep heat in but it's been 30c or more all day
Kat
I live in the attic
but i managed to get a ac from some guy for a few bucks and that is what is keeping me alive right now
AC is borderline impossible to run
In the UK rn
With electric costs
Man
Ngl after typing that
You might be right lok
When using the AC in our car it's heaven
and it randomly decides to storm for 10 minutes then be sunny again
solar panels + ac
nearly all aus homes have ac
I have that combo, now be so kind and come over to install the panels on the roof please? they sit around in the yard for lnearly 6 months now xD
depends on age i suppose
Same here currently
API must be down
I wonder what happened
Welcome to reddit's home for real-time and historical data on system performance.
Ehh, seems fine?
Wonder why
Prolly trying to do something about countless subs closing down
I did see a post that said they'll just ban current mods, reinstate the sub and just add random new mods
But I thought they'd cache at least
No way
You think they won't do it to upkeep order?
Reddit are limiting the use of third party clients on phones
So all the mods and shit that use third party apps that have better mod tools are protesting by shutting down their subreddits
Reddit eventually want only the official client to be used
Despite it being garbage with very useless moderation tools

watchdogs is real
wonder how much cheaper the G93C will be without all that smart tv feature
competing with the MSI one
real quick
wonder what is the number if you remove bots
the problem is literally all of them have pledged to come back online even if no changes are made...
Notjustbikes isn't ๐ฆ
i mean they also host a website
the website itself still drives a massive amount of data
and they cant just keep siphoning money forever
even ignoring video
social media alone is never profitable, that's why facebook/meta branched out a lot
and twitter is an even bigger dumpster fire atm
afaik youtube turns a profit (somehow)
no way in hell does it cost them anywhere near 24c per 1k requests
reddit is about 12gb of data lol
kek
nah but if you want software margins...
nah i'd bet it's somewhere around the order of 10c per million
probably costs them a cent per user per day
they want to make at least $1 per user per day
before they can make major changes, they first need to make sure 100% of their users see their ads
then they can introduce a subscription
reddit gold is already a thing
oh well there you go
but is there a subscription to remove ads on the android app?
I'd hope gold does that
also the app ui sucks
gold says it removes all ads?
about half of the app users according to rossman
Oh wait they clal it premium now? Huh
if they make the offical app ui better, I wouldn't mind spending the $30/year
Or maybe just make it so those who pay for that don't incur API costs
there were 10-20 new subscriptions for every cancellation post the password sharing crackdown
kek
costco is doing something similar
the person on the costco card must be present at checkout or even at the entrance
no more piggybacking off of someone's card
lets see how long it lasts
when the subscribers realize 95% of netflix content is garbage
๐คท these were people who already had netflix through a friend or family creating their own account
yeah and most normies still wouldn't want to torrent
consumers lost, I won
what does hulu sub get you?
live TV
A hoop to hula with.
with ads oof
yeah, the middle one is the only one worth paying
same price as netflix premium
or just pay >$5/month for a vpn

my problem with hulu is they have paid content on top of the subscription and its super hard to tell which is which
yeah
wtf, is anyone else having an issue where a google search will just show a blank page?
mine is fine
speaking of subs
I bought the nebula 1 time deal, really hope they survive lol
is that a youtube alternative?
floatplane alternative
ah
tho its 1 sub for all
oof
clear cookies probably
lemme try
wtf are theseeee
buds or iems?
yea seems like it
that seems like it would fall out very easily from the weight unless thats just plastic
time to re-login into everything....
geforce now steam deck native app when?
3 levels of game subscriptions
separate subscriptions
but you can also just use geforce now for free
oh really?
and you can get kicked off
nvm don't need geforce now for native desktop
in fact i think theres a time limit built in?
great for ally/deck
yea thats why i said this
uh
what?
it's so that your side panel won't be smashed against the cable
Gigabyte chops off RTX 4090 card to hide power connector The RTX 4090 WindForce gets a new revision.ย ย Gigabyte has completely revamped its RTX 4090 WindForce design. The card that was originally 3.5-slot thick and had a massive heatsink extending beyond the board, has got thinner and features an unusual backside design with a hidden [โฆ]
that one
what's that back portion suppose to go into?
wdym?
man I member when gigabyte stood for quality
or maybe a gigabyte case that also uses the flipped motherboard pins
the big 3 are basically indistinguishable other than aesthetics
i dont lol
i do remember when they had more impressive marketing tho
their 775 boards were great
I had like 3 different ones
very reliable and clocked like heck
until the caps sploded
was never an issue for me
gigabyte was the last holdout for electrolytics from the main brands
msi still used them aplenty at the time
P35-DS4
had one of those at the time
had a DS3 as well
if they still used electrolytics on the 775 boards it musta been on the very earliest ones
that board is from 2007 or so
ehh kinda, they were pretty common but lower end than gigabyte or asus
I got an E5200 dual-core from 2.5ghz to 3.84ghz stable on a P35-DS3
heres a board from 2008 with them lying about cap type
sure
they do point out the solid caps are for cpu vrm only
except the cpu vrm has electrolytics
those blue/silver ones look solid
โlying about lie typeโ
but there's only like 5 of them
sorry iโll go away now
and they are surrounded by electrolytics lmao
yes?
they did the low side filtering with solid caps (potentially, they could still be sealed electrolytics), and the high side with obvious electrolytics
so its sorta half-truth marketing
which I don't condone ofc
my boards were all solid though
Sure but it wasn't gigabyte that was quality
It just happened you bought their nicer boards lol...
which was quality
I mean if you'd buy entry level asus or msi at the time you'd get most or all electrolytic everywhere
so its not like gigabyte were alone with doing that
gigabyte obviously wasn't spotless, but need to put into perspective against the competition at the time
I'd say they're a lot worse with enhancing the truth these days
msi and asus has also gone down the deep end of bullshittery in more recent years
Yup
But as a former budget buyer, I don't remember sentiment online being any better for gigabyte vs Asus or dfi
yeah am not claiming they were outright better than whatever the competitors did in similar price brackets, just that they used to make solid performing stuff in that regard
nowadays you have them making high end hardware that has numerous serious flaws
yea they made the mistake of making am4 and 5 motherboards lol
YouTube has full on quizzes now.... Wtf
gotta jump on that social media hypetrain, this seems like it could be useful
in 2 days itll be over, reddit will have won, and the changes will not be rolled back ๐ฆ
i hope we can go back to the days of a dedicated forum for each genre of issue so that pagerank can go back to working
but yea reddit is far too convenient
my youtube recommendations have been taken over by people literally reading the top posts from a subreddit and thats the whole video
So close go buying a mini dell or some shit
Set it to the correct network, specify the the ports.. Should not have anything to do on what you run out on
What's up?
Did something happen?
Massive community protest, blacking out subreddits against Reddit's new API changes.
Basically killing off all third party apps.
So why ask? ๐
Because what's up to a message about nothing changing and reddit winning to me implied something changed
Imma miss infinity ;_;
Best Reddit app
relay was playing with the idea of a โฌ 2/month subscription
Honestly reddit could fix the issues so easily, just make a decent set of mod tools, allow modding bots, then update their alien app that they bought
Then no one would care anymore
Kind of dumb that they didnโt fix those issues long ago
As if big corpos know how to make apps better. They only want useless fluff that increases "engagement" and tons of telemetry tracking
or, make the user pay with reddit, set decent api limits.
anyone know if the xl2540k is still a good monitor?
depends on how much you can pick one up for
if the xg2431 or the acer 390hz is available in your market for around the same price, and if fps games are all you are purchasing this monitor for, those are better buys
when i was in the states, the 390hz acer was only like $30 more than a 2540k so it made sense to buy the acer instead
its refurbished on benq website for 350 aud
the 390hz isnt available in australia anymore and when it was it was 800 dollars
The xl2546k yep because of DyAc but not the xl2540k. tbh 350 bucks for a 240hz TN 1080p monitor without DyAc+ is not worth it
its australian dollars, so like 230 usd
have you checked second hand marketplaces? there are some pretty crazy deals
ive checked ebay but not fb marketplace yeet
where i live, the 2566k retails for around $700-$750, and i saw one on a local classifieds website for $400
there is a 40 dollar alienware lmao
if i was able to pick it up then i could see if it is
lmao i just read that
he prolly gonna give just the stand or smth lol
keep scouring there are some really good deals on these websites
there is a 2546 for 250 aud
i left some stuff in a storage unit once and found my monitor being auctioned off for $60
lol was it a good monitor
it was 3 months old and retailed for $300
Does lubricating and modding the wooting 60he have a performance advantage? Or does it only help with sound/feel?
strictly sound and feel
the 2k 165hz dell one
damn
that's not bad
i mean cheap enough that i'd risk it personally
most markets don't have the good competitors to benq's 240hz offerings at a reasonable price
i feel like for most people the best value proposition is buying a second hand 2546k
yea im looking for those now
i know there is better options but its in my area ill keep looking but this seems like a good option
they are old panels and kinda bad
you are looking at something with backlight strobing
zowies with dyac+ or the xg2431
the 390hz acer is hard to find in aus but I've seen a few sell for between 300-500
i cant find anything in australia im prolly gonna end up forking out the 750 dollars for the 2546k
Didn't realise how much I rely on it for help till last night
i just search for something, first hits were reddit hits
and the subreddit was private... dammit

Ye haha
yea, its crazy, i wanted to flash a keyboard for the first time with qmk yesterday, and all the reddit guides are down. It was such a pain
google has a cache button at the 3 dots of a result
thats what i had to resort to ๐ข
I was talking australia, if you are buying new xg2431 is the way to go. Checkout optimum tech he has a great review on it.
just orderd razor viper ultimate hope its good
yeah thats the problem with razor
luckily i barley even interact with my current soft ware
just set dpi to 800 and ill be fine
yeah g hub ain't exactly a homerun either but I rarely ever touch it
yeah i got the g502
shees a oldie and has served me well
weight diffrence is gonna be a lil wild
Atleast there is Onboard Memory Manager for logitech mouse.
800????
yes?
Dang son, mine doesnโt go below 1800 ๐๐
the memory management is kinda clunky though imo, you have to toggle between that and being able to access the settings
i used to be 3600
Have I been missing something then? ๐คฃ
