You say that but besides lowering settings, an R9 nano is still one of the better compact cards
@astral haven they are bringing the nebula app to windows
Yeee
Is that a such thing as a water coiled psu?
Power supplies usually run pretty cool don't they? Did older models really run so hot to need watercooling?
From what version?
That reminds me
I remember a video podcast exists somewhere
And input club representative mentioned how there are a ton of mechanisms that do make it out of different stages
And lol silo beams died
I wonder how long beamsprings from IBM lasted
Would absolutely not advise getting one
Fit and finish is garbage
and they don't even function properly ootb
Even though they are assembled
Also the guy is known for not sending you free replacement parts if something arrives broken
Broken in the sense of unrepairable
Because it is expected to arrive in a "to be repaired" situation
Is he saving money on production or something
Oh
And it is rather complicated
But the fit and finish just isn't there
A flat case for a case with a curved backplate is a stupid idea
Take a look at the round 2 cases for like a minute
And you can count multiple errors on the curved case as well
Wait hold up did I read this right, the keyboard is limited production run and people are expected to buy parts for future failures
Yes

You are expected to buy parts if something arrives broken
Yep just saw that
And he essentially wrote expect them to have some broken when they arrive 😵💫
That's why I'm only tempted to get the ssk
Hi, I happened to stumble upon these switches when looking for switches to put in a keyboard to simulate the pressures level of a piano.
-
is it possible to simulate them? As I've read in the site there isn't a single actuation point, am I wrong?
-
is it possible to mount then where I want, or do I need to buy these keyboards as well? In the case I'll pass
Thanks
The switches don’t work in other keyboards as all they are is a magnet (no contacts/electronics). So you need to buy either the 60HE or the 2 HE if you want the analog ability
Hmmm https://www.sony.jp/headphone/products/MDR-MV1/?s_pid=jp_/headphone/special/MDR-MV1/_footer_product
Seems to be 400-410$
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Z7LN8NM?th=1 If anyone has only one NVME slot, not a bad idea. 😛
The MP34 high-speed solid-state drive from TEAMGROUP supports the new generation of PCIe Gen3 x4 high-speed interface and the latest NVMe1.3 protocol. The superior performance allows sequential read/write speed to reach up to 3,500/2,900 MB/s. It is much more efficient for booting, loading games,...
Yeah having a 4TB lets you be real lazy with uninstalling games I tell you 😄
250$? bit skeptical if its that cheap
Does seem very cheap. My MP400 is 600$ according to Amazon.
Ah yeah I guess that was going to happen eventually. MP400 is a couple of years old now I think. Last real review sample I got 😄
well
it's 4TB
and slc
won't be a quick SSD can tell you that
you won't be moving massive amounts of data with it
You pay for faster than HDD storage basically
at least not quickly
Actually, I was looking up was it 16TB or 20TB HDDs
WD introduced some SATA SSD speed level drives
if you transfer multiple hundred GB an HDD might actually be faster
also no excuses for not having multiple pcie slots on mobos anymore
even this thing has 3
TB or GB?
TB, I always write GB instead for some reason
https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/11602-duck-progress-bar
an ide plugin made for mansen
slc is the good stuff? qlc is the bad one
well yeah that's pretty normal for most drives nowadays
well yes, the last 3 times people told me they got an amzing deal like these they got either the lower capacity or a wrong drive lmao
like this one, turns out anyone who bought that got the lower capacity ones that are listed for that price and it wasnt a deal at all xD
You either get consumer affordable or you get good cache and cells 😄
well yea
Here I am again, reconsidering the curved keyboard. Is there any change you create a corne like keyboard? Even flat
That should work quite easy
200
Datacenter ones? Or consumer?
Regarldess, if you want mass storage for SSDs, for 800$ you could get 16TB of NVME. 😛
lol
would be nice, the memory price just hasnt really shrunk that it makes sense to exist at that price yet so I'm cautious if that deal is real
Wish there was an inbetween storage option with the capacity of HDD and silent operation of SSD.
Speed maybe in between
oh that is here already just for data centers
ssds are much denser it just still costs more for now
there was a LTT video where Anthony showed off stuff about it
What is it called?
storage software that uses QLC but basically manually addresses them so it's using each cell separately or so
Oh hmmmm
Thanks to Pure Storage for sponsoring this video! You can learn more about FlashBlade//S at https://purefla.sh/3u1ySFF and follow Pure Storage on LinkedIn at https://purefla.sh/3xMZlIk
SSDs are fast, but in the datacenter, fast is never fast enough. So why did Pure Storage switch to slower QLC flash, and how is it FASTER than TLC?
Discuss on t...
You can put half of MS flight SIM on there
idk some parts of it are talked about but thats part of the software they use so idk how much they disclose about it
didnt check their website
yeah its quite fancy
That's just nvme?
Or some other standard
There is still a controller in the middle
Just like fusion io
yeah it's them directly addressing the cells instead of sending data to a controller
thats how you can have the slc level speed at those densities
There is no way for a CPU to access cells directly
There is a controller going from PCI-E to nand
There would be no need for super caps on the drive if there was no controller
Also you wouldn't have a heatsink on only the controller if there was no controller
Tltr?
1khz good no more lags
thats very wrong, you still need to get the data fully written to the nand if you lose power...
they probably have a register chip just like how they have on ram, the register itself doesnt actually do any processing
Yeah but buffer to nand is measured in nanoseconds, super cap run time is milliseconds. The CPU will be off while the caps are running so it will only be one write at most
Isn’t that what apple does ish?
On the new Mac mini
Where the ssd doesn’t have a controller
Yep. Just to be spiteful.
Well you can use an ssd on it with a controller
I think you could but not sure now then
very wrong, the register can be holding many transactions, a normal nvme ssd expects 30+ transactions to be on the fly at a time
yes apple does something similar but not to the same amount of benefitting from it, mostly just hinders people using their own ssds
Yeah but this is direct CPU to nand supposedly, so you'd buffer writes and read on CPU cache
CPU is much much fast so it will always be waiting for the nand
thats not how registers work
and this is the entire point of a register
Why would you use slower registers on the nand card than the cpu
you dont
The whole point of making it direct to CPU was to remove the delay
you just have 1 register for many slow nand chips
the slowdown is the time it takes to write to the nand chips
This is direct to nand chip supposedly
Obviously it's over PCI-E
they mean that the cpu has direct access to each individual nand cell
normal ssds have a translation layer between, these dont have that and rely on the cpu for wear leveling and fancy stuff like that
Yeah but then how is it different than fusion io
its 10 years later for 1
Yeah but nand hasn't changed much just more bits per cell
and its meant for storage not caching for 2
i dont have the time to recite my conversation with one of fusionio's largest customers
Now it was so expensive the common use was read/write cachig for databases
the tldr is that fusionio is for caching
nowdays you would call it a higher tier of storage not specifically a cache, but in simple terms its a cache
they are switching to electric after the jumpy one
you know what
as long as it means they can churn out electric cars at reasonable prices
dunno if dodge is really stellantis' budget brand?
actually for the us tbh it probably is
yea
we do not get Opel or Citroën
be kinda funny if vauxhall was in canada and not the us
god i cannot remember the citroen sister brand in the us?
Uhhh

That lawyer firm name is just so, so bad.

Twitter is getting closer and closer to dying
New sony open back headphone
good riddance
Wtf
Could be a decent option
It looks like a $150 headphones
That's quite high, competing with edition xs and audeze mm-100
Also on the IEM news
Blessing3 has a twin 3.5mm cable
So, if you don't have a 2x 3.5mm to a single 3.5mm or USB or whatever converter
You'll have a hard time making it function
Lol are they going to make an amp with seperate channel outputs?
Some odd high end headphones have seperate cable for each cup
Never seen it on iems
Imagine the reason it exists at same price bracket as Blessing2 is cause it's so out of the world, like 999$ IEM good, but you need another piece of moondrop's equipment to use it
Next level genius pricing
Basically like e-stats
excuse me what?
where can i buy a $150 edition xs
oh
Oh dear
well sony has a pretty awful track record, 5-6 misses for every hit product, we will have to see
dunno about the mdr, but the ier are god tier
ive heard the mdr are good for a closed back but not top tier in general bc closed
Yeah the weird boob-like cup design
absolutely jankiest looking closed backs but yep
I saw these images
And I thought it was open
Cause that looks like a weird mesh texture
Sony products always feel like a coin toss
Some category they are amazing and others wet farts
these are the real deal tho
Yeah I remember one particular sony iem being at the top of several people's tier list for a while
@astral haven
What do you think of the Blessing3's included cable having 2 3.5mm connectors?
That's a bit weird from them, no?
🤷 idrc
like why are they doing it?
really no idea why they would if the iem itself is standard 2 pin...
Well they know what works, I guess
Are you getting them Vex?
They are on amazon.de right now
I don't know, honestly
Kind of doubtful they are that insane
also thats real strange, you sure its not a mistranslation?
I watched some unboxing video
Was a split 3.5mm
Cool ass cable though, seems good quality
Isn't that just one of em
are you talking about the airline adapter?
Oh no
I can differentiate between an adapter and cable
Although wtf is that
Looks like a power plug
looks normal to me
lmao no
No
its the middle bit of the cable
That's the y split
Oof

My Hexa doesn't have one, I don't think
So I was hella confused as to why there a second 3.5mm
Not even a small molded plastic?
If it exists I never noticed it
p sure its got it
Moondrop's neck band adapter looks interesting
Ah yeah, only aptx adaptive
lossless is deprecated tho
But honestly for on the go, I don't care
Best aptx most of the time is still aptx ll
🤷 its fine
Personally I wopuld not really go for a neckadapter in general, at that point you might as well use a separate adapter and a cable
neck is slightly more ergonomic than that esp for working out
Maybe but tws adapters also exist and are better when working out
It's kind of a bad compromise imo
but that may just be me
tws adapters are rather jank still for the moment
I have not had much trouble with mine apart from volume control only working on my phone.
on the current one
my previous one just broke because I was being an idiot
there volume control on other devices also worked fine
🤷 the neckband has no extra parts to lose
and you can fit in quite strong hardware inside, where it gets very expensive for the adapters
regardless imma wait for reviews on the b3, or even wait for a dusk variant as im a basshead
I mean I have custom molded tips and the fiio adapters and they stay on running
The only downside that I've ever had is I had to cut up the charging case on the inside to fit
lose as in put half of it down and then the other half elsewhere
Just crank it lol
I don't take them out unless they go in case so isn't a big deal
fortunately these were two separate occasions, but one time they fell off the table and the case opened, and by the time i realized it was missing, the battery on the buds had died
fortunately it stayed together
another time it fell off the table and i noticed immediately, but the buds exploded out of the case and absolutely vanished, took me an hour to find both, one was easy but the other ended up on the other side of the room somehow and i was able to find it by sound
but if i had it fall off the table, explode to who knows where, and then i didnt notice it for long enough for the battery to run out id be screwed
the larger the device the heavier the case...
the blessings arent brightly colored, and all the devices ive seen are black
Sold separately

Looks like I might migrate over to tidal from qobuz
Their library is better
MQA is kill
I hope the regular hifi tier is still cd quality
That's all I need

I hope qobuz library gets better
I like their app
Always has been, except the fact that some albums were only in "master" quality
But now mqa is gone
Yeah
But I do like it when my fiio dac turns yellow when 96khz+ files plays

Even though I'm just wasting bandwidth
Still yet to understand what's the point of Tidal
It's nowhere near as big as Spotify's catalogue
Which in turn is nowhere near as big as Youtube's catalogue
so glad they shot themselves in the foot by shutting down google play music
I currently have YouTube music because of premium and also using qobuz. I use YouTube for recommendations atm
truly levels out the field for competitors
Yeah being able to upload your own music for streaming was a huge feature
But the transition was messy as fuck
also enjoy having my music likes and video likes all mixed into one without discrimination
who needs to have two separate things organized anyways
among other things that made the transition bad
wym
possible
i imagine if someone enjoys a song and wants to listen to it again, they may "like" the song to find it with ease
may also apply with short form content
yeah had to resort custom playlists when gpm went away
only way to keep things organized
NVIDIA GTX 1650 cards should now mainly use TU106 GPU NVIDIA is reportedly running out of Turing TU117 GPUs, which means board partners will be forced to use a higher-end GPU instead. Just four months ago, the GTX 1650 has entered Steam’s most popular GPU list, but has since then been dethroned by newer architectures. […]
Hold up, wait a minute
We had this before
2060KO
And that was ridiculously good
Except 2060ko was not really great because it only did something for the few people using it with pro apps but not actually pro level tiers like quadros
And if they properly fuse stuff off it won’t be better than base die version
I'd be interested to know what is the difference in CUDA applications between 3070Ti and 6950XT
why?
RT is just a meme at this point
Afaik Radeon is a lot slower, but is it 500 vs 1000$ card being the same slower
blender is a very common enthusiast app
I mean if you're rendering 3d stuff with ray tracing it helps a lot
in actual cuda only applications you just cant use radeon...
Uh
Yea...
nope
Compatibility layers
incorrect
It just ends up using CPU to process it
if you wrote an app with cuda you can recompile it with the compatibility layers to amds thing
If there is no compatibility with anything else
but if you dont have the code, its cpu or you are SOL
yeah but still, the point of people wanting a2060ish gaming performance but also make use of 2080 blender is quite low I would wager
sure but it was also a super cheap 2060
the problem with that tho is you need more base systems to host the gpus...
literally 20 cards
the best value for rendering has generally been the most recent highest end non quadro or tesla, and that hasnt really changed so far
Lies
"AMD Ryzen™ 9 CPUs are the best high-end gaming optionsfrom AMD."

a ups
i just got 1 and now i want another
i limited it to 90% max bc its lithium
longer runtime than any lead acid ups without expansion batteries
inb4 RL streamer solution.
a streamer should be able to afford a real ups
or one of the higher models
yep, this is the smallest model
RK - Streamer. As in "walking around outside"
I know the concept is foreign to you.

I assume it does line balancing too?
but this is the direct equivalent of getting a 1500va that has opp at 600w, and adding on 2 expansion batteries
nope its full offline like the consumer stuff
only fancy feature is its true sine
you can run it in online mode
but it only supports about 200w of dc input
and you need to supply your own dc psu
if you want online, get a larger unit that only has dc input
pecron e2000lfp is $1200, but can run a pc thats gaming using an average of 500w for over 3 hours
a normal 1500va ups will run for less than 10 minutes at 500w
One of the first B3 "reviews"
Here’s the place to discuss all things to do with the Moondrop Blessing 3: We were sent a couple of samples to test. Here’s the measured frequency response: Note this is with the official GRAS RA0402 coupler, which doesn’t have the coupler resonance in the treble that you find with clone 0045 couplers, so it shouldn’t be cross compared to mea...
Well, imrpressions
that freq looks smexy
booring
That's the point
also you cant flat for iems
ER2?
Man if that high end didn't look weird on the ER2, I would much rather get the ER2
do you not have an er2se?
Never even seen one
Meh, I have my K702s, and wife has that Hexa which she likes
I don't particularly like the Hexa
you never realize how much the env is impacting the sound until you have no background noise
I'm fine on audio front unless I come up with some headphone that blows my expectations out of the water
id be happy with an upgrade from the truthears
IEMs aren't my thing
I also rock my heavily EQd Melomanias which are insanely pleasant
damn hydrogen will be quite cheap compared to gas, only 5.3€/100 km in my country
😬
I need some of that AKG soundstage on a far better driver to justify a new headphone
But so far AKG stands alone
get used HD800
OR ADX5000
Ye I like mah buttons
Ye ATH ADX5000
Its the biggest SS
just get a bev
hey guys im building a mechanical keyboard for the first time and i need help looking for keycaps, i want just blank black keycaps for my 75% ANSI layout, but the only decent ones are all out of stock or overpriced, could you help me find some or reccomend some sites?
keyboard specs are Keychron v1 case and PCB, gateron black switches unlubed (for hotswap because i dont feel confident soldering)
BEV's are city cars and heavy, not very eco friendly. Can't wait for 3rd gen FCEV's to see what's up
upgraded from hybrid to bev and it was lighter and yes is a city car
when you are literally on a tiny island you dont need a road tripper tho...
Yeah porbs good on hawaii
I wouldnt say that, hydrogen has the highest range
Dont you have a lot of wind there on the island
just make free hydro
ez
just deploy local hydrogen generation via wind/solar powered electrolysis and just live with like 50% efficency
nice gg
Windmills benefit from shallow nearshore tho so idk if Hawaii has that or is it instantly deep
Seen that in Donald Duck
Not harvesting Volcanos would be dumb tho
Imagine, on island full of magma, sun and wind and sea!
How hard can it be!!!
Because that's how your monitor maths
My 240hz one says 239.76 lmao
cause not every game I have runs at 165Hz and the ones who get close reach 120
...why did changing the Hz change the fucking color profile and brightness
???? wtf why
I assume because your monitor isn't capable of pushing all of that without image compression maybe.
I adjusted my second monitor to 60hz from 75Hz and the image quality is worse and more washed out looking
🤔
two values that are basically 60Hz.....??
oh
im glad changing the hz of my main monitor didnt change the color profile
cause WTF
the problem is pressure
the standard hydrogen stations halve the range of the mirai
meh its only condensation, it wont hurt the nozzle to brush it away
thats also an issue with electric cars and regular gas stations btw
and fleets absolutely should never consider hydrogen
if you are getting a bunch of vehicles, set it up for v2l and they will pay you to have the vehicles sit around
the seriously largest issue with hydrogen tho is that the tanks empty themselves in extremely short order
hydrogen is a truck technology
its great for semis
sedan sized battery for regeneration, hydrogen tank for range
car talk reminds me catl should have sodium batteries ready this year but no news for the last few months hmmm
sodium is kinda a bit sketch, lithium is definetly alot more pleasant of a chemical to react
cmon you know is not raw sodium lmao
i mean its using the bonds to hold and release energy
and sodium is the next best choice after lithium, but its not the best
you want one of these, as they are the most reactive, lithium is the least heavy one that we have the ability to contain
hydrogen leaks from everything
lithium doesnt
yes I did study chemistry before I went into coding, I know elements
sodium has a bunch of useless electrons that take too much energy to remove
10/11 are practically inaccessible
rather than 2/3
obviously Li has a reason why its the most dominant tech used, but for mass scale and completely reducing bur risks its nice to have something NaCl based
at least I think what catl is working on is salt and not just sodium zink or w/e else is being worked on
also much easier to get in bulk if the production works since we have a shit ton on Na on earth, make all of the americans into batteries
yep
if we can make batteries out of sea salt and rust we win
also would love having salt batteries and not Li because for our solar panel batteris we have to put them in the same room as the gas heating pipes
now I dont expect them to just randomly burn
but you know, I'll take some saltwater over a 0,x% chance
well the difference is it can burn, if you get NaCl based stuff to burn color me impressed lol
it wont be nacl
I mean we have or rather had that as an option form something locally, unfortunately they went into insolvency
what
are you talking about the molten salt batteries?
the ones that need to be like 200c before they function?
nah
under the greenrock energy brand bluesky produced a NaCl battery that was based on the patents that I think aquion had before they went under
tbf I am still not 100% certain it ever worked but if it was a scam it was a very elaborate one lol
from when is that though
since the greenrock website is not online anymore with the latest version lol
but likely not too far off still
doesnt matter, ive got lithium tech from 10 years ago in mind
would be too good to be true otherwise
looks like the datasheet is from 2018
also looks like 140 kilos for just over 2.5 kwh
oh yeah its not for putting it into a car lel
but like for solar storage when the basement has more than enough space, wouldn't care if thats the only issue
it could be ok for ultra long term depending on the self discharge rate?
but its nowhere near as efficient as lithium
you can get round trip ac dc ac efficiency with lithium over 90% back then
nowdays you should be able to hit 95
I no longer think its something that will be amazing any time soon but still more of a thing than idk, carbon nanotube batteries that have been coming ever since they got discovered lol
heck hydrogen is now up to 50% round trip
and can be stored for 6 months and rather efficiently expanded
Were we to develop a room temperature super conductor I have heard that could be used for storage.
Some1 told me you could have an array of coils constantly passing energy to the next coil to store energy very efficiently. Never looked up to see if that design would be viable if we had the super conductor tho
yeah long term H2 systems already exist, albeit with a abysmal efficiency, but you can have a house in the mountains here and be 24/7 self sufficent in the winter with it
but $$$$$
yes but room temp superconductors are still science fiction
Sad but true. So many new materials are being explored, but crushing hydrogen with pressure only seen in Jupiter's core might not make for a viable wire
Or twisting Graphene to a certain angle until it becomes a superconductor
we get more graphence/carbon/carbon nanotubes news about new tech that is coming "soon" that we get leaks about gpus that come out the same year
until its actually being made at scale I dont trust any of it
i mean i have a graphene enhanced lithium battery in my backpack
graphene is helping a tiny bit at a time
sure it being used in places but nothing extremely groundbreaking like it was supposedly going to be
i mean
carbon fiber is pretty awesome
forged carbon fiber will make it significantly more accessible
Problem Graphene has right now is it's too expensive to make at scale. So for the time being companies would like to avoid it.
Ford though is now (starting at the end of 2022) making its plastics out of 5% graphene, which increased the strength by 20%
they are working on it
thoughts on wrist rests?
saw a vid on a recent research paper based on screen printing graphene for solar cells
I've been using it a fair bit on trains and buses and it's a godsent
Pick your poison
I tried the noise cancellation on a pair of wh-1000xm3 and wasn't a fan, felt too much pressure
much better on my linkbuds s, can't feel anything of the sort
and yeah it was quite a blessing on the motorway with noisy studded tires
It's been a good while since we talked about the PopOS COSMIC desktop and since then it seems to have come along quite nicely with a lot of the basic excepted features now falling into place

Yeah....
Fuck you Gnome
Your wallpaper solution is <Apply Image To EVERYTHING>
oof.. i dont have those statues

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 has a release date of April 13, 2023 and an MSRP of $600. We're reviewing the video card today, testing the RTX 4070 GPU with the NVIDIA Founders Edition model. One of ...
:P
Yeah but per dollar it sucks unless you want middling rt
People want RT?
Yeah
Well, they're idiots then
Everyone I know who has recently got a high-end GPU upgrade is for rt
I mean it looks good
And doesn't work
Yeah it dose lol
Have fun 30fps
Maybe at 4k
But 1080 and 1440 rt is more than playable
And even with 4k lots of games don't have crazy rt loads
I'd only care for RT if I had to work with rendering and stuff
Other than that, it's a technology that is in its infancy for gamers
Good for marketing, that's about it
Rt cores do nothing for non real time rendering
Indeed
I mean a 3080 will play every major aaa rt game at 1440 fone
I know a guy who does fluid dynamics, he's excited to get an RTX card for his work
Real time fluid simulations sound fun
Only 2077 path trace will drop it
Again
Rt cores do nothing for that
Both of those things are cuda accelerated
Though I believe you can use rt cores with optix for rendering, but you're still doing all the heavy lifting with cuda

Nah, game setting differences?
RAM, system settings?
my best guess is probably more game samples
and other reviewers just happen to have games that favor amd more and the 7900XT averages higher
or maybe HWU still using old data and haven't retested the 7900XT with newer drivers
Well Gigabyte claimed that a while back https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-ryzen-zen4-next-gen-2023-gigabyte
Oh the 4070 has been released. There's a option for SFF PCs with the Asus 4070 Dual
The founders is dual slot too
Can one buy FEs in Europe?
Yeah move to US
https://www.engadget.com/sony-investment-will-put-ai-chips-inside-raspberry-pi-boards-083503462.html
Prob packing too
:P
Good day, @astral haven? https://www.ecoustics.com/news/mqa-bankruptcy/
Lol neat
They were outright lying about it being lossless
Then when an artist did a null test with one of their songs that got mqa mastered and made a video about it, they bssed a bunch about it
The tech was fine tbh
But the people involved lied too much
identical to what?
Flac
ooh
Sound wise
Flac doesn't support DRM natively
FML 4070 releases now when energy prices are 0,0 cents/kwh at night
Where was it last year
Time to go sauna Ig
4070 fan looks like it was Photoshopped lol
this, basically a requirement for them, now that they have lossless tracks on apple music
was pretty smart of them to ask to “upload only IN HIGH QUALITY”, now basically everything is lossless in the library
Yeah it's such a shame apple is the spearhead of anticonsumerism, wish i could use their stuff
dude the 4070 is actually good value
lol no
it can match amd's 6000 series flagship
6900xt
and its 300$ cheaper
it outperforms like $650 6800XT by 5% for only $600
for nvidia this is good value
how do i get my keys to sound like this normally
if anyone wants to know its gateron SMD blacks on a pillow
At 1080p? Who cares. If you haven't noticed we get "Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) – choose between resolution or refresh rate!" starting next year so most will opt for 4k 240hz panels that can be switched to 1080p 480hz+ for esports but still enjoy 4k content.
All crappy/low VRAM cards are dead end
that wasnt my point
what, you realize the 6950xt is down in price since launch lol
i said its good value for nvidia im not trying to get into an argument
its bad value
in fact the 6900xt basically costs the same, its not 300$ cheaper lol
its losing to 6900xt ffs
Ye its ok for 1080p
but not rlly future proof with DFR in mind
What
google :3
Obviously I did
DFR is pog
Dynamic Frequency and Resolution
"One of the most interesting developments planned is the new “DFR” (Dynamic Frequency and Resolution) technology. This allows you to choose whether you want to prioritise resolution of refresh rate, giving great flexibility for different gaming scenarios and offering you the best of both worlds. The planned new 31.5″ 4K 240Hz panel will be the first to feature DFR.
For graphics focused games and for those who want to prioritise detail and resolution, you can run in the native 4K @ 240Hz mode, which is already very fast anyway. But there is also the option to switch to a 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080) and run the same panel at 480Hz instead! So for games focused on speed, frame rates and competitive Esports, this could be a really useful option"
Yeah I can't find a single official statement about it
What is the tech actually doing
My point exactly
So basically it's random guesswork that would be neat to have
🤷
QMS is neat
But it's an actual tech
And it's also terrible compared to proper vrr
But at least it switches resolutions too
DFR is neat for the time where we dont have 4k 1khz screens so you can chose if you want more hz or more pixels
if I could limit my uwqhd to 1080p for 240hz in cs instead of the 175hz it has that would be nice
Yes but is it a thing yet
So it's probably not a thing yet
oh yeah not already
The planned new 31.5″ 4K 240Hz panel will be the first to feature DFR.
q3 24 is the expected date for the panel
I'm interested but :/
yeah same, interested but I aint going to upgrade my screen unless it breaks and I return it for money lol
I'm interested in a 3rd screen, not replacing the G8 neo any time soon esp with an OLED, but getting a beaut for secondary use could be awesome
And the secondary has discord or some other chat apps open constantly so no OLED there...
meanwhile I need to make room for basestation since I do get a 3rd vr headset for work tomorrow lol
would be hard to cram a 3rd screen in as wlel for me
already dreading that the oculus software is just going to constantly break audio drivers for the others...
Y'all want depression?
Here ya go
Yeah.... iPadOS is way better than Android on tablets
Though it still has the lack of features that iOS does
iPadOS is way better than Android at window management on tablets**
Fixed it for myself
I can't believe people are still using tizen
Using what?
That's also debatable
Samsung in that list is tizen
Oh
It's their non android os
Ooohhhhh
Nah
Dex >>>>>>>>>>> ipados
Now sure it's not stock android, but it is android
Yes
Hmmm...
I use Dex purely via mouse in bed
The on screen keyboard is kinda pain but it would be a lot better via touchscreen
ooh i can wireless dex to my windows machine
Here is a demonstration of 3 things unavailable on ipados
Having 4 apps open, window snapping, and filesystem access
Here's another 2
Pinned apps and having more than 1 window open as in resizeable windows not just Fullscreen or half screen apps
Also app opacity tho it has limited use on a tablet
Lol
Yeah that doesn't cut it at work
I wish we had documentation for some of this stuff 😦
Android 14 Beta 1 brings a few things...but not as much as we'd hoped!

Ooo
Beta stage
Fuck yeah
I'm looking forward for the Predictive Back feature
It's a way to make you see what going back will do before you carry out the full gesture
It currently works on Android 13 but only in like 3 apps
Settings is one of them
It shows you that you will be taken to the home screen if you go back on the main page in the settings app
And I can cancel going back if I want to
Already have it
Here's a good demonstration of it

Wat
Only in 3 apps or so
Yes
But it's only 3 apps that support it
Is that gonna change in 14 or something
Yes
It's going to be part of the OS instead of per app API
The app no longer needs to implement it
It's done by the system
It doesn't do much on 12 and 13 xd
But it's neat to get a barebones look at it
I hate how unsymmetrical the status bar is due to the notch being on the left....
More of a hole
Yeah
The Blackhole Notch
My current phone has the same type but in the center of the status bar
My previous phone had a nipple notch
My current phone has a bezel😏
Ohhh
Those are cool
I want to get one so that the camera can't see shit until the rare occasion I use it
China has em for $300
It'll be the year 2050
Snapchat still doesn't bring dark theme to their Android app
7 pro😏
Despite it being on iOS and Web for over 3 years now
"ItS tOo difFiculT to aDd daRk thEme to thE AdRoid apP"
Despite then literally redesigning the ENTIRE FUCKING UI multiple times in the last 2 years
Huh?
Sorry
I mean like make all elements that are background black
Like headers
Or the background
Oh yes
Same
I just wish Material You theming didn't change the background color to a tinted version of the accent color
I want black background ....
Material you is ugly
It is pastel
And grey
No black
Like come.on
Ain't difficult
It's only this color due to my color scheme
Oh
Yes that's better
I want Material You + black background
Like aniyomi
It follows material You accent colors but black background
Nah
I'm ok with the navbar being tinted
Where no navbar means no app swapping without it feeling weird
The way it should be
I mean the top option makes no sense to me
Same
Why does it disallow sliding
I like seeing the bar
It also removes the down arrow to close the keyboard when it's open
I had on my previous phone
Though I did have to use a Magisk module to get the bar invisible
Even Telegram follows Material You theming now
Same
Discord... Please get a themed icon .-.
I use it :(
You have no swiping back and forth
Because if you still do it is not the same
In my case stock firmware make bar disappear and now I got to draw an arc to swap apps
you slide up on the different areas of the bottom area of the display to do different functions
I do not have that
so for example slide up in the middle it's the home button
He knows that
Yeah sadly that sounds like some kind of other room thing
He's saying he can't use the app switching gesture with the bar hidden
Xiaomi have the exact same gestures as stock Android now

But they let you hide the gesture bar
samsung A14
Can you do the Google Assistant gesture with your bar hidden?
If you shrink or loeere your bar
A series is a stripped down version of samsungs usual one ui
How funny
Yeah
They use OneUI Core
I find that hard to believe but okay
assmung sure likes their bloat
It's not as feature rich
or at least did back when I used one
At least the system runs better now
OneUI Core to OneUI is like Android Go to regular Android
Android One*
Xd
I will still take Android one
Yeah it's not bad
I mean I did get the A14 for 75$ brand new
Holy crap
Cheap phones are getting good
yep, when I saw the specs I was astonished too
I remember back in the Xiaomi MIUI 9 days
They sold some phones with Android One instead because people really hated MIUI 9.....
looks like same gen as the note 2 I had
Keep in mind notes lok similar
This was the phone I really wanted so badly back when it was released
I miss metal backs
No shattering like glass on new phones
the pen was pretty cool, but the phone sucked
Bro what
Why would you use the phone
You chuck it
Obviously notes are bought for their pen
Samsung could charge $1000
Just for the pin
And people would buy that without the phone
That sounds interesting
I do not know mans
Dat dimensity 9000 sounds great
Just sad bands from US are not supported
ISP on it sucks though
Dimensity 9000 is pretty good for high end
Otherwise locke go midrange
I swear helios
Or 700 series is good enough
Snapdragon 636 was fast enough for me too on my older phone xd
Better than snapdragon and if it can be cooled well it can run higher frames
Even for some games
