"Q Lite is not a cloud-streaming device, but instead uses Remote Play with the PlayStation 5"

#

What... is.. the point?

ashen spindle
#

wii u tablet but useful I guess

cursive summit
#

So it might not do anything by itself

#

So to use your handheld you need a PS5

#

Both have to be on and you have to be in the same network

#

That is not a good idea, imo, phones can do the same thing already

thick elk
#

I bought my psp go from someone who used it for exactly that purpose

#

but that was over a decade ago

cursive summit
#

Vita is still incredibly underrated

thick elk
#

Honestly just killed by proprietary storage and most of all sony's lack of support

frozen ingot
#

sony apparently weren't happy about sales figures not matching nintendo switch

#

still sold quite well from what I recalled

cursive summit
#

Right, what happened now

#

LTT's TechLinked is gone

#

Is the review embargo for the 7800x3d today?

old marlin
#

not much to see about it?

#

was fairly decently covered with the 7950x3d with one ccd disabled already

thick elk
#

The interesting thing would be where prices will stabilize at

ashen spindle
vagrant pagoda
#

Now just wait for someone to uv it

ashen spindle
#

emulation is also an easy win it seems

#

especially for ps3 emulation since they have avx512 unlike intel xd

reef patrol
#

Aaand of course Linus' video is a giant clickbait

ashen spindle
#

yeah its a bit weird

frozen ingot
#

what video

crimson wigeon
#

Clickbait works

reef patrol
#

Their coverage of aforementioned CPU.

reef patrol
old marlin
#

wait there is a linux video?

crimson wigeon
#

Exactly

old marlin
#

ah

#

loads in now

reef patrol
#

AYYEMDEE DECEIVETH USSSS

#

HOW DAAAAAARE

ashen spindle
#

he's mad that amd launched the more expensive ones first so consumers find more comparisons of those?

old marlin
#

lemme guess "better at games" yadda yadda?

ashen spindle
#

its a bit weird because thats how all tech works, he literally mentions it in gpus as well

#

like, is he still mad TR zen3 isnt there due to market not exisitng?

old marlin
#

it's how you make sales on halo products

cursive summit
#

The difference between the benchmarking of Linus and co and someone like GN is just massive

#

I get that LTT is supposed to be digestible for noobies and is widely approachable, but man is it redundant

ashen spindle
#

? what benchmarking difference is there

#

the numbers seemed the same this time so whats the issue here with the benches

vagrant pagoda
#

And is just pricing TR pro crazy high because no competition

gusty kiln
#

Seems it's actually a bit more efficient than the 7950x3d with 1 ccx disabled

vagrant pagoda
#

TR pro dosent cost amd anymore per product. They could of just replaced TR with tr pro with a small price bump

#

Making it still available as diy

#

But they didnt

ashen spindle
#

Yes it exists but not enough for amd to care when intel can’t compete and epyc needs the same chips

vagrant pagoda
#

It's all the same chips

#

Only apu and mobile use different chips

old marlin
#

yea amd doesn't make them because they don't want to earn money

#

quite obvious

ashen spindle
#

Yes but any tr could be an epyc chip sold with higher margins

vagrant pagoda
#

No they just priced out the prosumer for nothing other than getting more money from business customers

vagrant pagoda
#

So it's the same as saying any Ryzen could be eypc

old marlin
#

yea it is just amd refusing profit

ashen spindle
#

well yeah but you have 1-2 dies on ryzen vs up to 8 on epyc so and there is value in getting marketshare and all that in a TAM that is vastly above the TAM of workstations

vagrant pagoda
#

It's the opposite

ashen spindle
#

TR would sell, just at less profit than epyc

vagrant pagoda
#

AMD threw prosumer under the bus for more money from big customers buying TR pro

ashen spindle
#

and for the longest time during Zen3 they have been fully supply constraint

vagrant pagoda
#

If they would of just slapped 20% on TR to tr pro, prosumer would buy it

#

But instead it's more like 60%

ashen spindle
vagrant pagoda
#

I fear zen4 will stomp on SR and AMD will keep it's TR Pro pricing

ashen spindle
#

I expect that to be the case

#

I dont think FHF is enough to get amd to launch regular zen4 TR

#

unless they want the marketshare

vagrant pagoda
#

Plus once AMD perfects stacking is going to be bulldozer years for intel

gusty kiln
#

Oh wow even the 13600k still uses like 50w more

vagrant pagoda
#

5ghz zen 4 x3d would be insane

ashen spindle
#

gotta applaud intel for raptor lake though

gusty kiln
#

7800x3d should be popular in the EU

ashen spindle
#

image if they didnt decide to squeeze that refresh in and we still only had 12th gen

gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah

#

12th gen be looking bad lol

#

Crazy that amd has over 20% boost waiting in bonding tech lol

gusty kiln
#

Bonding tech?

vagrant pagoda
#

Yes

#

How they attach the 3d vcache

gusty kiln
#

Ahh

#

Thought it was infinity fabric related

ashen spindle
#

curious how zen5 is going to be just as a first look at the 5 ryzen generations they had since the redesign of the company, since zen5 was started to be thought about while zen1 came out

vagrant pagoda
#

The current tech is extremely thermally limited

#

Hence the voltage/oc limits

#

But imagine 5.7 ghz out of x3d

gusty kiln
#

Then it'll be able to match the non x3d in csgo

mild dome
#

With CPUs getting hotter and hotter, I wonder if manufacturers might get more creative with the IHS.
Like an IHS that's also a liquid cooler. So you just connect a custom loop to it

ashen spindle
#

no the IHS is just a fancy cover to stop die cracking from bad mounting and such

gusty kiln
#

Ihs also is only using glue/solder for attachment

vagrant pagoda
#

And hotter isn't an issue unless it doesn't meet the specs

ashen spindle
#

^

gusty kiln
#

Only issue with zen 4 is the ihs thickness

vagrant pagoda
#

Which is why modern chips just always run at thermal or power limits under load

vagrant pagoda
#

Unlike intel

ashen spindle
#

if you stack stuff you need to cool more stuff in a die, the IHS is not relevant for that

#

the best IHS wont change how hot the part below the stacked cache gets

vagrant pagoda
#

3d cache is the same height

gusty kiln
#

Either way the X3D chips runs relatively cool

ashen spindle
#

I mean the zen cores below the cache, inside the package

mild dome
#

More transitions means more heat getting trapped.

vagrant pagoda
#

So you have no idea lol

gusty kiln
#

Well the normal cpu sensors suggests it runs cool

ashen spindle
#

so making the IHS better when the part that needs better cooling is below what the IHS touches wont change anything

vagrant pagoda
#

The stacked die could be running way hotter

mild dome
#

Would AMD or Intel ever consider shipping a CPU without an IHS?

ashen spindle
#

thats how it used to be in the past

gusty kiln
#

The 7800x3d was running in the 60s

vagrant pagoda
#

For mobile

gusty kiln
#

In hardware Canucks video

ashen spindle
#

but also no point in doing that again, IHS is not the bottleneck for desktop when we are getting stacked chips

#

the stacked part needs the cooling

sharp badger
#

So 13600K w/DDR4 is still better value?

ashen spindle
#

for value you probably go with like a 12400f or similar

gusty kiln
#

7800x3d was never about value

vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah even the 5800x3d wasn't a value buy

sharp badger
#

Ok or getting a good deal for the 5800X3D is too an option šŸ‘€

ashen spindle
#

older gens always depend on what you can get locally for ram/board/cpu prices since that fluctuates more

gusty kiln
#

@vagrant pagoda

vagrant pagoda
#

YeahĀæ

#

That reading has nothing to do with the second die

gusty kiln
#

What 2nd die?

#

7800x3d

vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah

#

What do you thing the 3d means

#

Stacked dies

sharp badger
#

There was recently an ''Upgrade kit'' priced at 999,90€ and the parts where : Gigabyte B650E, 7900X & 32GB DDR5 @6000MHz

ashen spindle
#

the one CCD on a 7800x3d is a chiplet made from 2 dies

vagrant pagoda
#

They bond a second die

ashen spindle
#

so the temperature of the cores doesnt necessarily reflect the temps in the L3 cache on top

gusty kiln
#

Ahh ok

vagrant pagoda
#

The bonding between the dies isn't very good thermally

#

Which is why amd limits voltage

gusty kiln
#

Huh. Discord seems to be crapping out with that screen shot

#

At least on my phone

ashen spindle
#

@vagrant pagoda looks like they did add some sensors

vagrant pagoda
#

Where is that from?

ashen spindle
#

chipsncheese discord

vagrant pagoda
#

The 7900 and 7950 didn't get extra l3 temp

#

Is the second l3 any different than the first?

ashen spindle
#

dunno yet

vagrant pagoda
#

They didn't show the actual readings?

ashen spindle
#

nah just that image, trying to find out more

vagrant pagoda
#

Why in the world would you only take a picture of that

#

Unless the reading was bogus

ashen spindle
#

oh its not new, it's there since zen3 last year apparently and not for the stacked cache

thick elk
#

I wish people would benchmark paradox games more,
For now I will use this as an analog:
Seems like a good option

ashen spindle
#

thats why the idea of something like userbenchmark is nice, if they wouldn't be run by someone with an intel cpu in their ass

#

or 10

thick elk
#

Userbenchmarks won't help here as there is no good build in option and the variance is quite high. You would be benchmarking time til x while in observer mode at speed 5.
Also a good reason why reviewers don't run it, you could setup a scenario, maybe with mods but it would be a lot of work to get something repeatable.

ashen spindle
#

sure but you could add infos or recordings or anything to have a general idea

#

wont cover every case but could if done right do a lot more infos than detailed reviews can

#

maybe LTTs labs software can help out there, if they fuck up data maybe the users can make it good at least dogekek

gusty kiln
#

The only thing I'm interested coming out of LTT labs are headphone measurements

#

At least those will use industry standard tools

astral haven
gusty kiln
#

Not home brew

#

Whatever target they will use is another story

astral haven
#

except technically their website is homebrewed so does that count as not using industry standard tools šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

#

theres no good tool for mass pc benchmarking that isnt run by a tool

#

ubm? ew
capframex? same basically

#

so they need their own tool

ashen spindle
#

oh dont remind me of copeframe

#

they really need to just fire the guy running the twitter account

#

such a waste of software when run by someone like that

astral haven
#

to be entirely fair tho, the tool is great, but when a tool is in charge, its difficult to trust it

ashen spindle
astral haven
#

besides that, i think that ltt will be the first to numerically measure the binding of keyboards, which I would love to know before recommending stuff, especially cheaper stuffs

ashen spindle
#

before launch he goes about how the 7950x3d wont beat 13900k, silence about the topic in the forums since the launch, now he looks at the one review that did not follow the review guide and reinstalled the chipset drivers and had results from the bugged install just to present it as if amd is bad or something

#

so annoying when people have such an obvious agenda and cant even try to act neutral

#

sure go ahead and point out the bug, but how many consumers will go from a 2ccd vcache chip to a single ccd vcache chip even lol

thick elk
ashen spindle
#

yeah it has ever so slightly lower clocks

fickle ore
#

and probably boosts for less

ashen spindle
#

no they keep boost clocks under load

#

its not like the old intel tau1 etc. where you get 10second burst of clocks

astral haven
fickle ore
#

shrug, my 5800x boosts ST perf

ashen spindle
#

well thats not sustained load that is different thread counts

astral haven
#

its a medium duration load ye

#

god i really wish someone would make an am5 board with an x8 4.0 or x16 3.0 slot

ashen spindle
#

call asrock and order enough and they make it for you dogekek

astral haven
#

doubt it considering asus didnt make one this gen even after making one for am4

gusty kiln
#

I forgot where I read it from but doesn't Asus basically have its hand is all the other 3 brands?

astral haven
#

yep

#

asus makes all of the chipsets for amd besides x570

fickle ore
#

Does anyone know some good wireless IEM's (the more harman the better), dont care for bass, don't wanna EQ just want flat boring sound for acoustic music mostly and vocals

#

100-200$

astral haven
#

define wireless

fickle ore
#

no wires

gusty kiln
#

Probably whatever is the current most popular set

astral haven
#

fiio utws3 + salnotes zero

fickle ore
#

Oh those fit most iems?

gusty kiln
#

It comes in 2 pin and mmcx

#

So yeah any

astral haven
#

yep
might want to get the mmcx version regardless

#

then a 2 pin adapter if you have 2 pin iems

fickle ore
#

Thanks, that's a good suggestion but maybe something crappier, bc those weigh 125g. I'm sure they sound better but I just want something really low weight and comfortable

astral haven
#

they hook around the ear

#

out of akg n400, galaxy buds+, wfxm4, utws3 the utws3 are the most secure

gusty kiln

DEWALT True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds — TWS Bluetooth Headphones — Wireless Earbuds with Type C Charging Case — Waterproof Wireless Earphones — Jobsite Pro-X1 Premium Sound for Outdoor Work https://a.co/d/id4RZDq

astral haven

if you want crappier tho, cca cra+ az09 combo is cheap and works, but is solidly bass

fickle ore
#

fuck im lazy Im just looking at Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless

#

and akg400

#

those seem promising

gusty kiln
#

If you own a samsung phone just get the galaxy buds for convenience

astral haven
#

and galaxy buds are solidly the most harman

fickle ore
gusty kiln
#

For pc use? Then the epos ones

#

They come with an adapter for pc

astral haven
#

n400 has a bit of the ear piercing sound issue

final flame
final flame
#

None of it is worth it

vagrant pagoda
#

I love my fiios

gusty kiln
#

The fiio ft3 looks interesting

vagrant pagoda
#

I have the true wireless ones

gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
#

Utws5

#

With my kz lol

#

Like 150 Bluetooth amps with a $30 pair of iems

latent mural
vagrant pagoda
#

That's dosent change the aq

astral haven
#

what

vagrant pagoda
#

What headphones has it always on?

astral haven
#

the n400 and galaxy buds all verifiably dont

vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah

astral haven
#

as do the wfxm4

#

nope

#

and you are sure that its the microphone that is broken and not your firmware?

#

i mean sonys firmware updater is pretty garbage

vagrant pagoda
#

You sure the actual PCB inside wasn't damaged

astral haven
#

but if you clocked it hard enough that you think you broke the mic, what makes you think the rest of the device is working as intended?

vagrant pagoda
#

And not the mic

#

My fiios you can even disable the anc for the mic

#

Which is neet

#

I mean you'd never be able to tell with naked eye

#

The stuff is super tiny and covered in conformal coating

#

Because touch controls suck ass

#

Single control is best

pure oyster
#

Anyone good with PC hardware who could DM me? Planning on upgrading, but can't pick the correct CPU

#

It's only better for purely gaming and even then it's sort of 50/50 between games that like the L3 cache and games that prefer higher frequency - I've been looking at benchmarks the past 3-4 hours trying to figure it out, but so many of them show different results which makes things a tad confusing

vagrant pagoda
#

Look at the gap between the x3d and x

#

Spaghetti code goes zoom

#

This is how going from a 5900x to 5800x3d felt

#

RimWorld was my go-to at the time and it was easily 2x improvement across the board l9l

lofty pivot
#

unless you specifically want intel to get the intel quicksync chip for twitch streaming there's no reason I'd pick intel over a 7800x3d right now

astral haven
#

and even then just go nvidia + amd

#

the only advantage of intel is its alot cheaper

lofty pivot
#

yeah the nvidia is barely worse for streaming quality to a non noticable level

astral haven
#

no nvidia is better

lofty pivot
#

not right now no

astral haven
#

just slows down your game more

lofty pivot
#

intels quicksync is a little better

#

for image quality and such

#

but it's basically non noticable, especially when you consider a lot of your audience is watching in non full quality

astral haven
#

maybe vs 30 series

vagrant pagoda
#

I mean am5 has video encoding on igpu

astral haven
#

but 40 series nv is measureably better than 13th gen or arc

lofty pivot
#

nah even 40 series, trust me - intel is better there, but it doesn't matter in the big picture since audience won't notice

vagrant pagoda
#

But yeah nvec is amazing

#

Compared to intel or amd

lofty pivot
#

40 series uses the same chip encoding but with av1 added, but av1 isn't available on twitch yet

astral haven
lofty pivot
#

i mean, you can look up videos on the quality differences with intel quicksync and nvenc

#

yes epos is using av1

#

av1 isn't a thing on twitch

#

he's showcasing youtubes av1 but twitch won't have that for 1-2 years or more

vagrant pagoda
#

Anyway that only effects a small market

fickle ore
#

With intel you get decades of expertise and with amd you get buncha burger flippers making bios code!

vagrant pagoda
#

Big streamer have dedicated stream rigs

lofty pivot
#

guys - i'm literally a paid streamer here, you can trust me when I say i've tested this stuff

vagrant pagoda
#

Small streamers aren't complaint about a small diff in visual

#

Also you could just get a 7950x and do CPU encode lol

astral haven
#

and epos showed the quality improvements on h264 and 5

lofty pivot
#

you're not quite getting it - i'm not talking about what it supports or records, i'm talking picture quality when encoded onto twitch

vagrant pagoda
#

That's literally what he's talking about

lofty pivot
#

epos literally has a video with 40 series and quicksync

#

where it shows quicksync is better

#

but very negligibly so

astral haven
astral haven
lofty pivot
#

you can look up the chipset, it's basically their old chipset but with av1 added in their filings

vagrant pagoda
#

The real question is

#

If you run CPU encode on a 7950x3d

#

On the non x3d ccx

#

How much does that effect game performance

lofty pivot
#

honestly i would never run cpu or gpu encode

#

even if it were better quality the gain vs just using a chip in quicksync or nvenc isn't worth

vagrant pagoda
#

Then you don't encode?

#

Quick sync is GPU encode lol

lofty pivot
#

yeah i mean the dedicated encoding chip vs actual cpu encoding

astral haven
#

you are talking about the vpu

vagrant pagoda
#

Nvec is in die lol

astral haven
#

but the vpu is part of the gpu

vagrant pagoda
#

So is quick sync

lofty pivot
#

we're talking semantics here at this point, but basically i mean I'd never use the actual gpu/cpu setting itself and i'd pick quicksync or nvenc

astral haven
#

the gpu is the physical entity, a vpu is just a unit within it

lofty pivot
#

in obs

astral haven
#

that implies theres an option to use the gpu without using quicksync or nvenc

#

there simply isnt

vagrant pagoda
#

I mean there is a cuda h264

lofty pivot
#

^

astral haven
#

nope
thats not gpu encoding

vagrant pagoda
#

That is still using CPU or gpu

astral haven
#

thats not available anywhere any more lel

vagrant pagoda
lofty pivot
#

i don't even know why we're getting into a weird semantics debate here when the common line is you'd never really want to use anything besides quicksync or nvenc

vagrant pagoda
#

It's not semantics you're just flat out wrong in your terminology

lofty pivot
#

my mistake, when you mentioned 'cpu streaming' i thought you meant selecting the cpu setting itself in obs

astral haven
# vagrant pagoda ?

if you try to encode today with the cuda api, it will use the vpu
to actually force it to use shaders, you need to go waaaaaaay back to ancient cuda versions

lofty pivot
#

which is different from selecting quicksync

vagrant pagoda
#

Not ture with modern games

#

Loads uses 8+ threads

lofty pivot
#

they're separate settings when you set up obs

astral haven
#

yes but theres no way to use the gpu without using the vpus (quicksync, nvenc, vcn)

#

cpu ofc
gpu no

latent mural
#

why not just build a separate streaming rig?'

lofty pivot
#

it's not worth doing nowadays

astral haven
#

bigger problem is memory

#

cpu encoding consumes system ram bandwidth

lofty pivot
latent mural
#

I had one and liked it a lot

astral haven
vagrant pagoda
#

Most people don't have 7950xs lol

latent mural
#

I found the sound tough to figure out though since I had no mixed

lofty pivot
#

it used to be super good, but nowadays it's kind of unneeded since you just set it to nvenc or quicksync and it works amazing

astral haven
#

depends on the complexity of your stream

vagrant pagoda
#

Do you have a second rig so that your stream doesn't go down when your game crashes your PC lol

#

That's how I always did it

lofty pivot
#

if you're baller setup you'd have a server that would go to waiting screen when you crash

astral haven
#

my streaming is mixing generally 5 programs and 3 cameras, so it cant handle encoding as well

lofty pivot
#

otherwise you have like 60 or 90 secs to get stream back up to save it

vagrant pagoda
#

I used nging rmpt for it

#

Rtmp

astral haven
#

you mean nginx?

lofty pivot
#

honestly streaming on a whole is way unnecessary to complicate the technical side of things - at end of the day long as you have the basic setup right then content and planning is 99% of it

vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah I murdered the whole name

#

Nginx rtmp

latent mural
#

if you want a dual setup then get dual setup, if you don't then don't

lofty pivot
#

a lot of the streamer friends i know with dual setups kind of ditched them

#

it just made the entire process of everything messy when they wanted to change things

vagrant pagoda
#

Zoom zoom

latent mural
#

well most people don't even need a dual setup, but if people have disposable income who cares what they do with their money

lofty pivot
#

sure - but what I mean is full time streamers with the income, including myself, have mostly ditched double systems due to them being more annoying to fiddle with than the gain

vagrant pagoda
#

Most people don't care what the steam looks like at the level between encoding options lol

lofty pivot
#

it's not so much about price or whatever, just that it increases annoying things when you want to change the setup or change things in the setup

astral haven
#

biggest reason we use dual pc setup is we arent allowed to get internet access on some of the computers, and the program needs lan access
dual pc prevents problems with networks
we have a far more complex setup than any random twitch streamer will need

latent mural
#

oic, but you play WoW though?

lofty pivot
#

indeed I do

latent mural
#

ahhh, WoW isn't very competitive though, no?

#

When I played CSGO. I felt that dual stream setup was smoother then single setup

lofty pivot
#

in what way do you mean competitive?

vagrant pagoda
#

Wut

#

It's compative by nature lol

#

Competitive

latent mural
#

yeah but in WoW you fight in raids not unless you PvP

astral haven
#

wow just doesnt scale with fps tho

lofty pivot
#

wow has arena

#

and wow is very cpu heavy

astral haven
#

you dont have to worry about inching every last fps out of it

astral haven
lofty pivot
#

nah even now

astral haven
#

nowdays its just high apparent load

lofty pivot
#

5800x3d gave huge gains to my wow performance

#

although your fps will still tank in a major city but not much you can do there

vagrant pagoda
#

Not really

#

Fps can get crushed in high traffic raids

lofty pivot
#

yeah for sure

astral haven
#

but its not something that will meaningfully change your gameplay ability

vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah it dose

astral haven
#

if you got locked to 30 fps in csgo at the higher levels, you would get absolutely destroyed

#

in wow it would just be annoying

lofty pivot
#

why would you lock to 30 fps in cs go

astral haven
#

to prove a point

vagrant pagoda
#

You could missing timings and fail a raid

#

Or die in pvp

astral haven
#

with 30 fps?

lofty pivot
#

sure

#

i'm confused what we're discussing though

#

what does this have to do with single streaming rig being the go to?

astral haven
#

a single rig for streaming is guaranteed to lower your fps by at least some microscopic amount

vagrant pagoda
#

30fps is good in some places for wow lol

lofty pivot
#

sure

astral haven
#

for a wow player, meh
for a csgo or quake player it can be game ending

lofty pivot
#

but double streaming rig adds a lot of complicity and things that can go wrong or need to be changed/setup

astral haven
#

yes

lofty pivot
#

which is why even a lot of competitive fps streamers don't go double

#

some do for sure, but the majority just go single now

astral haven
#

well actually all of them do at least in a tournament setting šŸ˜›

#

never heard of a tournament with screen recording being run locally

lofty pivot
#

yeah sure, but i mean that's not really the situation we're discussing though right

latent mural
lofty pivot
#

single rigs got a lot more powerful in recent days

astral haven
#

eh youd be surprised

latent mural
#

it was on ryzen 3600x and 1070

lofty pivot
#

if you did double rig awhile back i can see why

#

yeah that was quite a bit ago

astral haven
lofty pivot
#

double rigs were still popular then

latent mural
#

I just ditched it cuz I didn't want to deal with audio mixing

latent mural
astral haven
#

even 5950x solidly loses performance when you stream when playing csgo

like right now I can stream valorant with super high fps at 1440p while recording and still be way above the frames i'd want for competitive

astral haven
lofty pivot
#

5800x3d plus 4070ti already gives me 500-700 fps consistent, then you take a minor hit when you stream but it's still waaay above what you'd need for stable fps

astral haven
#

probably even 5%s much less 1% or .1%

lofty pivot
#

probably, i'd assume a 10% drop from streaming and recording at same time

astral haven
#

i would be shocked if you were getting even 5ms frametimes while streaming and recording on 1 pc

#

(thats 200 fps btw)

#

tho i dont have enough money to put down for that

lofty pivot
#

are you saying my frames will drop to 200 or you mean just the ms delay?

astral haven
#

i mean the amount of time it takes between your worst frames will be more than 5ms

lofty pivot
#

i haven't measured the net hit to total input lag and such - that would be an interesting thing to check out actually

astral haven
#

nope

#

just time between frames

#

thats what frametimes mean lol

lofty pivot
#

yeah but i mean the total lag delay everything included

astral haven
#

🤷 thats expensiveish to measure

lofty pivot
#

yeah and annoying too, would be interesting to see though

astral haven
#

actually with nvidias new monitors its rather easy

#

it measures everything for you

lofty pivot
#

although that all said, even if i were to swap to competitive fps streaming i'd still never go double rig

#

the headache of managing more stuff isn't worth

astral haven
#

🤷 i find it actually easier to manage but you do you

lofty pivot
#

oh for sure, you're probably very tech focused and enjoy that sort of thing though

latent mural
#

ahh I have a 5600x and 3070 now, but never stream

astral haven
#

physically separating the tasks also separates the software, meaning that theres a clear devide where you can see where the problem is appearing

latent mural
lofty pivot
#

when it comes to streaming the large majority of streamers want everything as basic and easy as possible, so that if they do move or change things up it's super simple to just go live

astral haven
#

as always it depends

lofty pivot
#

well yeah, i'm just talking for most streamers, there's always exceptions

astral haven
#

tho i can blame most of my issues on amd

#

why do you refuse to fix usb on x570

#

gah

#

if i could use all my usb ports, i wouldnt have a problem

latent mural
#

streamer starter pack. sm7b - nano leaf - elgato deck/lights

lofty pivot
#

usually as a streamer you spend so much time worrying about fixing content or planning content that you want as little energy as possible to do tech stuff

astral haven
#

🤷 for a 1 person stream sure

lofty pivot
#

and that's coming from someone who is pretty into tech and such - there's a large portion of streamers who don't even know how their computer works

latent mural
#

you need a hot tub too

astral haven
#

and sure ive never been in a 1 person stream, i only do the tech side of the stream, the content is provided to me and im just in charge of placing the cameras and making sure they work

#

but that is in fact a workflow that exists

lofty pivot
#

oh for sure, you work in a different environment

#

you'd be amazed at how many streamers don't even know what the basic specs of their computer are, they just know to hit the right buttons to make stream work

astral haven
#

and when im responsible for the stream, i get the people who want to share their screen to give me an hdmi out lel
if their hdmi out doesnt work thats on them

astral haven
#

thats embarrassing for sony tbh

vagrant pagoda

Like 12 years

And going

empty wren
#

I see well maybe it might be okay to use an additive to the water then

vagrant pagoda
#

Antifreeze in cars dosent last forever because of the high heat and any combustion leakage

#

In a low temp loop, it's last a long long time

#

My oldest loop is a d5+280 that is in an old lian li case

#

It went from am2 to am3 without draining

#

And is still running lol

empty wren

Hmm that sounds like more than a decade old

vagrant pagoda

I mean am2 was like 2006

#

But I didn't get one until 2008

#

And didn't water cool it for a year or so

empty wren
#

Still more than that decadešŸ˜

vagrant pagoda
#

I said like 12 years

empty wren
#

Well that is impressive

mild dome
empty wren
#

Yeah also funny thing deionized water is not deionized for longmm

mild dome
#

Perhaps, but it really helps to reduce what you start with

vagrant pagoda
#

That's why antifreeze has anti corrosion additives

mild dome
#

You add the additives to the distilled water. All the advice I have received in the past is that starting with super clean water and adding what you need just helps reduce algae and corrosion

empty wren
#

I think some people even add something called silver coil

mild dome
#

Probably to kill bacteria that could gum shit up, however Silver would increase the risk of galvanic corrosion so best research that first

empty wren
mild dome
#

Yeah googled it and if no corrosion inhibitor silver coils will corrode copper, with nickel getting the worst treatment. So buyer beware

astral haven

that looks like a far too big die to integrate on a gpu tbh

ashen spindle

astral haven

🤷 actually thats incorrect

nvidia has gpus up to 64 channels, what you wont get is 32 channels at 50 watts

ashen spindle

if you take just one encoder block and remove the stuff that would be redundant ona gpu like pcie area it gets closer to what could fit on a gpu

but they need enough blocks to hit 8k60 at least if they use a modern gpu

Idk why the menus stopped working
The start and search menus didn't do anything when opened and search crashed the desktop if I started to type

" Battlemage cards, built on Intel's Xe2 architecture, will launch in the second half of 2024, with Intel Arc Celestial landing in the second half of 2026. This would put it several months after the launch of most of Nvidia and AMD's best graphics cards of this generation, so Intel is still behind the other two major players in terms of manufacturing cadence. Still, better late than not at all."

#

I have a problem with this statement, cause not only will they be competing with next-gen cards from both AMD and Nvidia at that point

#

I genuinely do not believe launching something that is just objectively not good is actually a "better late than not at all"

#

Sometimes you just cut a loss, realize you can't stand a chance, and leave, which Intel might have to do

#

Intel's prospect should be low-mid range, where nowadays it's a bit lacking

#

If they aim high, I doubt it'll be very good. 600$ maximum.

hey peeps, my wife has a samsung s23u and bought an apple dongle to use wired earbuds, but its not playing through the earbuds
this pops up when plugging it in

#

does the apple dongle just not work on android?

shadow minnow
#

It should afaik

halcyon moss
#

yeah thats what i am reading as well

ashen spindle
#

it seems to not work for some combinations but nothing solid, likely not enough power when some combination of phone and earbuds used

#

but for some it works for some its just low power

#

so if it works on a pc for example then its on the phone or earbuds

halcyon moss
#

well if it works on my phone, she can have my pixel dongle.. and ill take this one

cursive summit
#

Apple dongle is vastly overrated anyways

halcyon moss
#

its cheap :p

# halcyon moss its cheap :p

its about the price of the cx31993 which is quite significantly more durable
i have 2 dead apple dongs from the cable breaking, and the cx31993 are still fine

ashen spindle
#

could also be different here because eu and and dongles are different

astral haven
#

i believe the eu dongles just have their max power cut, which in theory wouldnt change the volume on android?

#

changes it on everything else tho

ashen spindle
#

but its a difference that for whatever reason could fuck something else up

astral haven
#

regardless, dont buy get cx31993 instead

halcyon moss
#

ok, ali has it for less, but ali takes long :p

astral haven

should be on amazon too?

ā€œSimple but not simpler.ā€ We kept this in mind all the time whenĀ we designedĀ X2 structure. We designed a structure as simpleĀ as possible but maintained its durability. In the result, you areĀ getting high performance gaming mouse that is lighter thanĀ the egg in your hand.
