so they manage to get it right for one device every 5 or so years
having consoles get it right where you have sony/MS do a ton of work for their custom stuff is very different
MS probably had more software people work on xbox than amd had at some point lol
maybe not that extreme
Wouldn't be surprised
but amd was at very low low points
Amd is a hardware company first
How successful are the instinct cards on the server side?
problem is they completely ignore the very real fact that software is like half of what makes the hardware even work in the first place
they dont ignore it
They simply don't have the proper man power to do it atm
Nvidia driver team is massive
they don't regard it nearly as seriously as the hardware though
intel has a ton more money and resources and it's worse for them
it's not something that just goes away if you say in a meeting to put more people onto it
intel also hasn't been making discrete gpus for the past 15+ years
I mean the value of AMD as a company has gone up 10x or so over the past 5 years π
They should have a team big enough by now
AMD != radeon
Intel also wasn't near bankrupt for most of it
most of amd comes from and goes to cpus

it needs to get better sure, but it's not as simple as them just wilfully ignoring it
Nvidia has a massive draw too
They are the oldest
Largest
And most prestigious GPU company
WAT
They're decades younger than either AMD or ATI.
They invented the GPU
Didn't they buy vooodoo
Amongst other things, yes. Voodoo for SLI, PhysX for... well PhysX π
They basically invented the GPU for consumers yeah
Or brought it to market first
Hence "oldest in the GPU scene"
Ion was nowhere that specific, hence my complaint π
π fair
I separated the sentence
They are the oldest, largest, and most prestigious GPU company
You
pulled
an
IRC chat
The worst text format
They passed Intel's market cap in 2022, they are valued very high
not due to gpus at all though
Yeah, fair
As for being the earliest with a GPU is ... debatable, because they coined that term. We had plenty of addin cards specifically for graphics before that point.
But still, they have a good base to go forward
to me companies like 3dfx, riva and matrox pioneered discrete graphics accelerators on the desktop
Ok boomer
π
Why yes - I do remember the days of 2D graphics vididly π
π
Still wanna see that giga-apu in action
People forget/don't know than Jensen and gang invented the complete gpu
Also Jensen as the head of AMDs 368 team
Before Nvidia
They were only accelerators
The Riva was the full pipeline
Riva 128 had 2d/3d and video decode. As well as unified memory for fb/2d/3d
Which made it a true all in one graphics unit
Previous accelerators where always discreet components. ATI mach had 2 or even 3 chips with separate memory and everything
Same for voodoo 1 and 2
Again - Coined term.
But debate away - I still owned cards that were necessary for graphics in games before nVidia ever existed π
Name one that had 2d and 3d
Lol
And you get to coin terms when you invent new things
didn't you mention the riva 128 yourself?
riva tnt and tnt2 meets that criteria as well
the riva cards are the first ones I know of in the consumer market
2D can be graphics.
In fact I was playing plenty of big titles before nVidia was ever founded π
higher resolutions and larger color palette
Exactly it's the first.
Yes but a GPU dose it all in one chip
Just like computers existed before the cpu
Not really. The 128 lacked in both 3d and 2d
It just did bith
My boomer ass.
was more referring to the reasons for why you'd need more graphics power before 3D acceleration
Then it's a graphics card π
But yeah ATI and matrox had better 2d
And voodoo2 had better 3d at the time
had a tnt2 and a voodoo2 in our PII rig back then
tnt2 had pretty decent 2D but 3D was so-so
except for a select few games that had better support for tnts api than voodoo2 for whatever reason
Tnt2 is much newer than a voodo2
I remember my dad buying me a Geforce 256 (or was it an... MX4? Something like that) which was definitely 1070 price'ish inflation wise - not a cheap purchase.
Because I went to my first LAN as a ... ten year old or something, and he wanted to encourage me socialising π
People were... really fucking jealous of that dumb kid in the corner with everything running at max.
Year and a half was a long time in the 90s for computers
it was a down the line upgrade yes
The 256 was a monster though
Tnt2 competed with the 3000
iirc the motherboard had some really crude built-in 2D card
tbh most of the time voodoo2 ran better, most games still had better support for 3dfx
The 256 is what crushed 3dfx
Glide was better than directx/opnegl long after 3dfx died
The 256 had hardware lighting
And even more important, full mpeg2
voodoo2 had pretty good mileage for its day
Yep
think we ran that computer until 2001-02 or so where it really started to show its age
Yeah I went from voodoo to randeon
funny how an entry level smartphone would pulverize that old pentium rig these days
Up until I got a used 1080ti to replaced my 290x xfire
I got a smoking deal on it from a buddy
Only Nvidia or Intel I've ever had lol
I've had every other gen pretty much
Before the 290x was 7970xfire
Before the 7970 was 5770 quad fire for meme
Before that was3870 crossfire
Without the old dvi combo cable
Sounds like a horrible time
Why
I rarely switch hardware unless its essentially on its last legs
Up until you got a 1080 I assume you're using now?
Which is how many years old now? π
Its really awesome that Gnome shell on phone has the same gesture navigation that Android has to some degree
JUMP TO A SECTION:
0:15 Intro
0:53 Shell layout
- 1:15 quick settings
- 1:30 screenshot UI
- 2:10 home screen/apps on desktop; similar to Endless OS
- 2:56 gesture navigation
- 3:48 keyboard swipe to dismiss
- 4:08 default/dark style quick toggle, animated splash screen
- 4:55 live window thumbnails
6:00 Paper app (for notes)
- ...
Bit spensiv but I should be able to set it up for global use with cloud flare tunnels
That some serious tech
two hours till intel earnings call
hopefully they remaster the tunes as well
Didn't realize they were at/under 30 this whole time

the open areas was def pretty wild for 1995
πΈ
Where are you seeing this
V4 is just the cm version right?
Dose it add anything new?
I have a bunch of v3s
https://www.intc.com/ earnings presentation pdf
how cane something be down 117% huh
Eps is earning ms per share
And you is year over year
yes but how can it be down more than 100%
So eps was down more than it was up last year
Yoy is change per year
Not total
So total earnings is 10
But yoy is +1 year 1
And +1.15 year 2
Eps is up 115% yoy
The actual eps is 10+1+1.15= 12.15
Well
That's wrong
sure but if it's down you wouldn't show it as down 117% surely?
+1 year 1, +2.15 year 2
Down would be like
Eps is 10, year 1 is +2.15, year 2 is +1
1080p60hz
Eps would be down 115% yoy
Why you need 60 fps over ip lol
ok make sense I think just seems like silly bookkeping ways to using math I guess
Why would you capture with a pikcm
ayo, is the stock cable from the 60HE USB 2.0 or 3.0+?
Just get a HDMI uvc card
So that the monitor is happy?
Besides it's also cheaper and smaller than anything else as a complete product
Also really really nice if more bioses supported serial
Everyone on reddit is talking about whether or not intel is keeping dividends
It's crazy that the two actual servers I have that have ipmi support bios over USB serial
what they do about the divisor
massive copium
But none of my entry level server stuff has it

My big plan tho is to set up a tunnel to it so that I can access it via the internet no matter where it is
Yeah I have that anywau
To both my pfsense routers
I have everything on fqdn too so it's seamless
Wether it's local, tunnel or over internet
Ah but I want to be able to access it via the internet regardless of where it is
Just have it reverse tunnel yeah
Problem is tho my home internet is sketchy at best
Ah
Planning on using cloud flare tunnels
now I get it
Q1 2023 Outlook
β‘οΈ Revenue $11.0B, down 40% YoY
β‘οΈ Gross Margin 39.0%, down 14.1% YoY
β‘οΈ EPS -$0.15, down 117% YoY
it's -0.15
so down >100% makes sense now
like 27
As always, AMD caught in the crossfire of intels earnings
Dynamic island?
on the new iPhone Pro
More like half working offshore oil rigging company on your phone
It's fuckin huge
Idk how Apple managed to innovate backwards
there is already about 12 apps that replicate Dynamic Island on Android
so there must be a shit ton of fans even on Android for it
the only issue with these android apps is that the status bar icons cant dynamically go away and reappear when the notch gets too wide so they overlap
and it looks horrible
I swear, in other videos I saw, its AMOLED black so you cant see the actual notch borders in it
idk why their's isnt
It's possible high brightness mode is overriding the true black which is just awful
But if it's OLED don't they just turn off the pixels instead of using "true black"?
π€
not sure...
Yes but the high brightness mode massively messes with the gamma of the screen to make it appear brighter than it is
o..
So this would be a bug where the gamma is being applied to that black (potentially)
I beg Google to make light mode for Youtube Music
Cause I mostly use it when outdoors to play music while walking and even on full brightness, its hard to see at times when its really sunny
LG poled is ew
oh?
I mean it's fine indoors
But max brightness is awful
And it really irritates me that Samsung uses it and the similar BOE oled in their cheap smartphones
Tho it irritates me even more that Samsung is now suing to make a monopoly for their smartphone screen repair in the us
And now that LG is exiting the game, options are now only BOE and samsung
BOE?
Display company
BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., or Jingdongfang (Chinese: δΊ¬δΈζΉη§ζιε’θ‘δ»½ζιε ¬εΈ), is a Chinese electronic components producer founded in April 1993. Its core businesses are interface devices, smart IoT systems and smart medicine and engineering integration. BOE is one of the world's largest manufacturers of LCD, OLEDs and flexible displays.
it can only be as black as the tape behind the display
iphones have a pretty good black tape
That's not how that works
The oled panels themselves are what absorb the light to make it look black
It's only recently that they make oleds with a transparent TFT, and those are avoided whenever possible because they are super expensive

oh my that is steep lol almost 10% down
here is something steeper
ok but that company is also like 10x smaller
This beaut advertises 4k+2.5k, just ordered it
π€
Oh noes
yeah
there is literally no chipset out to do 4K+1440 at 30 yet
so i just have a second rear cam, and use the main as backup
like reversing
Where do you see that tho?
in the reviews
but also just knowing it dosent exist
Mr. Linus did a video as well recently. He wasn't impressed at marketing with resolution
Yep but it's a legit Sony sensor (apparently) so its probably fine
Amazon ofc has a return policy lol
Jumping in here at a random spot. Linustechtips did a video about dashcams. if it helps most are the exact same sensor, and horrible detail. a little eye opening about how bad a good chunk of the market is for them.
Yup
wait. I just saw the othermessage about linus...
This one is using a Sony sensor tho
are the mirror screens any useful? i already have a great front+back synced cam but the mirror screen seems pretty cool
I'll let you know when I get mine
I really liked it while test driving a few cars tho
yeah its a cool feature so if its good thats great. i dont really want to buy a new car just for a digital mirror haha
Yep that's why I'm buying an addin one lel
i love atk dan is my bae
I'm more of a bon appetit person. I love Claire and Brad
i gave up on BA after the whole debacle, but i still watch claire and molly and rick
what debacle? I've not followed for a bit
dang, it's a lot https://old.reddit.com/r/bon_appetit/comments/gzfdsm/a_bit_of_a_rapoport_timeline_for_anyone_only_just/
but basically racism, bullying, toxic workplace, underpaying bipoc staff.
Undoubtedly the most interesting headphone release of the year. 660S2, looks like the 660S driver with the HD600/650 300ohm voice coil and different damping. Marketing mentions sub bass extension as the primary focus. https://t.co/hSx5EhISfR
yooo
HD660 Season 2 announced
would not be surprising
More interesting to see will be where it slots audio wise
It's a new Sennheiser headphone in quite a few years
Did it drop in quality, or will it compete really well
Idk what they are really aiming for here, this kinda is like midway between HD800 and 600
Why not just call it HD700
Was a thing already iirc
they thought they share a lot in common with sony
like the first letter
I have a 4070 ti and a 13700k should I be getting 1440p 144 hz or a 1080p 240 hz?
Depends on what your focus is I guess - and games.
I play Warzone fn Overwatch Val apex
And sometimes single player games
Anything more demanding than maybe Apex, CS and Fortnite I wouldn't imagine 240fps being realistic unless you really compromise with settings.
I personally swear by 1440p 144hz/fps
Fortnite medium settings I get 240
Only game I canβt get 240 is wz
Warzone? Optimized?
Most π
COD is an awful franchise, idk how they got away with releasing a new game every year for the past 20 years ish xD
laughs in FIFA
ππ
Warzone is a joke when it comes to optimization tbh
Basically all I play unless a big name single player comes out on pc
I mean with that setup just get a 1440p 240hz
I blew my budget on my pc
Odyssey G7s are usually on sale
Close enough price to a good 1440p 144hz
Like 500-600
What's a good 1440p 144hz? Like 400?
My bad. Was looking at the Neo
Always go for the IPS panels, colors so much better then VA or TN.
You have to do a TON of tweaking to get good frames on WZ
Me and the boys have been able to squeeze ~200 out of it
Yeah the 240hz G7 Odyssey IPS is like 500-600 in 27 or 32 inch
1440p
It's also not UW. Pity π
Yeah different focus for sure. I like immersion and I don't really care for competitive anything π
Though I am thankful that Blizzard finally wised up and gave us UW support in Overwatch 2.
Don't get me wrong I love solo games
But probably 20% of my gaming time is spent on them
UW in FF14 is great to see the entire boss arena
and to see more where people died that I need to revive
You mean to shout at?
why would I shout at them
depends how and where
but yelling at someone wont make them play better either so no point in that
I was kidding btw π
I used to play FF14 a lot.... spent so much time decorating my stupid houses tbh π
But tbh... now I feel the game is very dated
Along with WoW, they both need to be revamped
next expansion they give the game a visual upgrade
since they can deprecate ps4 support then
They both need more than a visual upgrade
The mechanics are ok in bosses etc
But the whole game mechanics of using your character need a revamp
Still waiting for Squeenix to give us instanced player housing without a limited amount*
The movement needs a revamp
Moving on FF14 is jarring in general
Great game
But needs a revamp
The LG Ultragear 27" is also pretty good
Not 240Hz though
I mean I wouldn't use it as an example for fluid movement game but for an mmo I dont think it has massive issues there, but that is preference
Only suggested the G7 because it's 240hz and he spends most of his time on games that are 240fps+
ah gotcha
I mean for sure I have a lot of time spent on FF14 π and I did prefer it over other games for a long time
But like... preferences can change
Once experiencing other games you notice how something can be refined and revamped
oh definitely, but revamping an entire combat system can be very hit or miss
There's honestly no need for rotations of spells and skills that take up 3 bars
and I think for now they can still improve it without having to fully revamp it
Like having up to 50 spells on your screen is just kinda... pointless
But that's my opinion
FF14 and WoW in general have die hard fans that would play it in pure ignorance of the flaws
sure, compared to when I played gw2 where you only had 4 buttons though I much prefer not being bored to death from that simple rotation lol
ya i do like complex rotations
Rather than rotations add in things like Lost Ark where you counter
it means there is some skill ceiling
Rotations are purely based on just doing skills mindlessly basically
with counter id feel it would be too generic imo
unless theres exceptions that cant be countered
There's no actual thought behind it other than knowing where the next hit will be
well the thought comes from having to do it properly while doing the mechanics correctly
ya totally mindless when skills have different effects based on chance and statuses
Yeah, but mostly you are doing the mechanics
all those whitemages so mindless
Rather than thinking of your rotation
Because your rotation has been imprinted in your brain
and lost arks system I think works differently, so that it caters to different combat, wouldn't say it's superior but simply different
The only time you think of your rotation is when you switch class
And that easily is remembered after a few trial runs in dailies
mhh not really, when you do something new, depending on class you need to adjust a lot
some classes more some less
but gl playing black mage or red mage the same on all fights
the only class with near mindless rotations would be a doh
it varies depending on how the fight goes
I mean even black mage has an instant cast skill
You just have to figure out your rotation differently
but also that isn't an issue since if you do a harder rotation that means you cant do the same difficulty of doing mechanics
so its a trade off
But once you have it's easy because you will figure it out
Not saying it's bad
It just needs a revamp, like it's been going to too long with the same stuff
idk man from what ive seen ffxiv is pretty dynamic rotation wise in endgame
The only thing that is challenging is when a new expansion comes and no one knows the dungeons π
I dont think it needs a revamp because then you would basically play a different game though
if I want to play a fight where I dont do mechanics and need to adjust my own rotation, I'd want that in a different game not change the game to work like that imo
not really imo
if you change it lost ark combat style (just an example), if I were to play lost ark I wouldn't be interrested in ff then when looking for different games
I don't play either but I have played both
if I want to play different combat than ff, I look for a different game not for ff to change itself
And the movement/combat style of lost ark is significantly better and more immersive
I have played FF14 for much longer and was devoted to it btw
i wouldnt even say wow needs to change despite them having nerfed their skill system to basically be 3 or 4 skills per rotation
improvements can be made, but I dont think a revamp to be really different would fit
At least change the character movement in FF
I'd rather not float around
Make it more immersive
so lock while performing a skill and abort if you move
You can only put up with certain things for so long π
@old marlin
Yeah I dig that mid
if you ask me
This gen of graphics seems pretty bad
RDNA4 and whatever Nvidia does better do better
Don't count intel out just yet.
Forgot they even existed
Or maybe donβt care about an article that only uses a random Twitter leak as source when that leaker has leaked almost nothing so far
Ive found so many apps from this video series <3

Youtube....please switch to dark theme some better way than currently?
its got to refresh the entire page and that makes you lose progress on the video
downloading unapproved apps, what could go wrong
huh?
Intel is 100% pulling a Google on dgpu
Intel may pull the plug at some point, but they know very well that a first gen product is not going to be competitive.
wouldnt happen if people released self hostable servers for everything
eg netgate wont be able to pull a google, their project is open source
Oh shit AMD stock is actually up today rather than down
yeah
usually intel or nvidia earnings affects AMD
some people already have the 660S2
interesting dip at 5khz
oh neat
vintage portable computer style
Has anyone ever had it where you can't view your bios?
GPU works AFTER post and successfully displays Ubuntu terminal but I can't view bios.....
I've never had this type of problem before I'm baffled.
It's an old hd5450 (AMD) as I just use it to setup and forget but I swapped CPU out and realised this Asrock b450 pro 4 doesn't support the later ryzen so needed an update.
Now I can't view my bios to apply said update! I've reset bios and CMOS to no joy....
what if you hold down the bios key anyways even if you see no picture
technically mobo should still be in that mode
If I hold down delete it doesn't boot into Linux but I can't see anything. Power button immediately turns it off so I assume it's on bios at that point,
you can in windows select a reboot into bios, I assume there is an option like that in linux too
try putting it into a different pcie slot
Yeah tried that no joy, I assumed the card was dead but it works just not on bios.
Found an Ubuntu command will give that a try
oof yeah that could be it
What's funny is I remember setting this up when I first put it together a couple of years ago to set the ram speed and it worked. Never needed to touch it again
maybe there is some command line option to trigger that? otherwise a youtube video to navigate the bios blind and enable csm
and then its something else in the end maybe
nobody to borrow you a working gpu to make the settings with
No clue, stupid self thought drop in upgrade will be fine on this board.
Thought I had updated bios to support this.
Does not support booting to firmware. Fml
This Corsair PSU I have, seems to not have come with PCIE cables and the only other PSU I have is in my main pc so I can't bring my 4090 and power it.
Rather avoid gutting the other pc just to power this but I may have to !
damnit lisa
not having signal till after bios isn't something I heard of but could make sense if the card is too old and csm is not active I guess
Yeah never knew it was a thing, if I didn't get to see post I would have just gone with its dead.
I guess CSM is come compatibility for old PCIE devices?
This is why you need a basic IGP! small thing I like about ryzen 7000
Oh well I will have to do that tomorrow and take my other pc next to it to see. Thanks for help!
csm is compatibility for a ton of things
it applies to anything interacting with the bios that doesnt support uefi
most applicable to oses and mbr booting, but also pops up with gpus
Dafuq
Ngl I really want that scream inhibitor to be a real thing because it just screams overlord dystopia
The what??
It makes it so you can be loud without breaking hoa bylaws or sound ordinances
just live in the middle of nowhere
So that device is for people who like to deep throat semicircle top and bottom surface cylinders
how?
I can give you my settings and some tips tomorrow evening, just remind me
alr sounds good
Activation Lock is condemning even 2020 Macs to a future as spare parts and landfill, by making it impossible for them to be restored to use. To be fair to Apple, the technology is only part of the problem β the other half is corporate policy in many companies that issue MacBooks to their employees [β¦]
haha french canadian macbook
Well it does make sense to not have the MacBooks stolen, though yeah, thereβs probably a better alternative to it
But ngl itβs slightly weird to me, companies have a way to automatically disable this and can just ask them when they bring it in, I wonder how many of these are actually stolen
Seems to be a problem from how companies donβt disable it which well is that cinpang issue
There is no way to automatically disable it for corporate ones
That's in the article
Normal MacBooks have the option when you wipe it, but corporate ones have unlock during a reinstall.
There is something of that style

chainsaw man?
Run into locked macbooks every now and a then at my corporate job. They just get left in a pile never to be used again, and years later E-wasted
Device locking should be forbidden without an internal device purge feature as a requirement to circumvent it*
Have any proof of that? It seems everyone else disagrees
The thing is apple should just list all your devices on the website, and let you remove them or report stolen.
Then just have an option at the lock screen to connect to the internet and send a unlock request to the account it's registered too.
Doesn't help new "owners" though. Unless they can report it as well.
And force the old owner to either reach out or default.
You can
This is how I sold my iPhone where here battery died
Guy paid half and paid the other half if it was just the battery and for collateral I would keep it tied to my account and untie it for the second half.
not on corporate devices though
yes the article linked is about corporate managed devices.
and these are M1 macbooks
so new

screens and such are worth money
Yes but corporate wise they won't go that route.
My uni wouldn't even let me buy a system from them they were binning.... They would either bin or send to surplus before ever thinking of reuse etc
They rather just bin most of the time :/
?
To sell spare parts
im talking avout robbing
Oh
people rob them because they can sell them for parts
Same could be said about thefts, a lot of the time it's just people stealing for a quick buck.
corps and unis just sell them off as a pallet load
This is my main issue with the Apple approach. Almost everything is serial number locked at this point, even the dumbest, simplest parts.
Not only should it be possible to re-key every single part that does this without Apple's say so (They're welcome to do a popup warning, to be cleared via their support), but it should be 100% possible to take a random iDevice dropped on the street and re-use every single part elsewhere without any permanent, unbreakable locks.
From a purely "recycle your shit" point of view. I swear we had so many ipads and macbooks in partial states of assembly for spare parts at my old job. Literally how I got the LCD for my old 9" B&W mac. Grabbed one from the pile that worked and an HDMI adaptor PCB.
Ye, apple are very anti recycle despite everything they say
Or well any consumer in the grand scheme of things
I vaguely seem to recall one of Apple's "recycling" partners in ... Canada? that basically started rebuilding iPhones from all the shit they were handed and re-selling them - Which Apple sued over.
But... if that's even possible, then why are you recycling the parts (i.e. stripping for metals etc..) in the first place.
It's definitely not possible with the new iphones since they hardware lock replacement parts
Even if genuine
Yeah this was back in the ... 7? era I think. I assume situations like this is why they locked everything down even further.
pog
so mom did say no indirectly

cable management was honestly the worst and it felt hella overwhelming

classic weaksauce PSU

no
pcb is on bottom

wait
im working on my webserver lol
Host error bby
Same
my intel nic in my router decided to shit the bed this morning
good times
works now
you can see the 4 cutouts for the 4 ports
l40 and h100 have vrm on both sides
this could too
im banking on this being a h100 titan/quadro over 4090ti
bro how is that cooler a bolted together block
that bottom section of the heatsink has a shit ton of machinging into it
easy 100 hours if you did it manuaaly
no to mention the nickel plating is really really well done
and it has blocks brazed/soldered to it
i mean yeah
its 90 degrees
its a tower cooler on a gpu
yeah look at h100
only thing odd is missing aorund the die
wtf
It's HBM2e memory in the h100
Hbm is connected through the interposer
The key for AI is low latency, HBM provides that. It also uses less power.
? No it's ad102 based the 4090 is already a cut down ad102. Hopper, h100 is a pure tensor core ai accelerator. It doesn't do any raserizarion
But TBH ad102 at its full core count is still going to have problems.
That's why their performance delta in rendering tasks aren't really significant from the 4080 to the 4090. The scheduler can't keep up with all the cores. But the ti will probably be more of a voltage unlimited version of the normal 4090. With the titan being the one with the VRAM.
There needs to be more of a reason for people to buy the titan than just more core count.
The big thing hindering most of the ada cores on the market right now is voltage.
IMHO that's why the new ada cores now have the voltage checks integrated so people can't to shunt resistor mods...
Everything gets qr codes now in factories/shoos
Thoughts on these?

Itβs $190
And looks like a finalmouse
I need to replace my superlight
It looks definitely interesting but Iβm not quite
sold on it until I seen a hands on
Awful looking hole design
Those holes do not look comfortable on that thing
Reminds me of a glorious mouse
That thing is not even that light for a magnesium case
Yeah thatβs what I thought of at first
It literally looks like a starlight
for $200
Cad

Guess Iβll just wait on arye
Companies just trying to copy finalmouse after people saw how many mice tenz sold
Iirc it was what, 40k mice tenz sold for them in a few hours?
I really want to get my hands on a final mouse
But I just canβt
Justify paying resell
Theyβre just viper mini wireless with worse qc honestly
Not worth unless you must have a super pricy viper mini wireless
And razer has their own version coming in a few days which will have actual good qc probably
If youβre going to buy an overpriced viper mini wireless you must as well buy the official one from razer with 4K and better sensor/wireless tuning
horrible
trying to hard to be FM
ANOTHER EC1
bs marketing
m3k not out yet
also not much said about it so far afaik
only that it will be expensive
the website is very nice
I want to know how much tenz got paid to make final mouse $7 million in 4 hours. He must have got a bag for that
also
why tf is black a limited edition colorway
that you can only get in a VERY short timeframe
Plus a few mouses for free I bet
man really secured his bag
And as soon as the xm2w came out he swapped out his mouse lol
I wonder if egg saw he was using a lamzu and express sent him a mouse
Not sure if itβs we or not, egg sent it to him before we even came out
Probably a we Iβd guess though since the 2 is a bit further away still
I love my x2 mini Bruce lee, but I did get a perfect no qc issue copy so a bit of luck
i just ordered my wooting
π₯³
The wait times were longer for really early orders
Honestly the people who got in just before Christmas rush had shortest wait probably, like a month to a month and a half if you hit the right timing with batches
Itβs very different shape to finalmouse
Much more back hump and sharp inward curves
Grip type is more important than anything else really
I like my lamzu mini though, not ideal for me since I fingertip but Iβm glad I checked it out to know I prefer the x2 mini sides
Iβm more claw
so Iβm not sure if it works

thereβs so many mouse coming that I donβt even know what is actually good

Theyβre great but qc has been a bit of an issue with pulsar lately
At this stage thereβs a lot of great mice out there though - for fingertip x2 mini, for claw lamzu and xm2we and even viper mini wireless coming soon
If x2 had more reliable qc with their non Bruce lee edition models I feel itβd be an overall better gpro x - which is a great thing, but they gotta fix their qc
Regular size or mini? If regular size Iβd just get the xm2we instead
Their shapes are so similar, lamzu was based on the same shape as xm2we. Main difference being sides slightly more curves but theyβre very similar
Lamzu got really popular because xm2we took forever to release so people bought lamzu as replacements since the shape was what they wanted but wireless
But now xm2we is out and itβs practically a lamzu with better quality coating
It's an engineering sample vaper chamber. They probably don't know the interposer dimensions yet. It's common for them to use a general flat vapor chamber and thermal paste the spacer blocks onto the cooler for testing. You can see that with the vrm spacers.
Well xm2 is nice too lol, but very different shape
Iβm not sure you can find an xm2we right now though, they all sold out from that first batch
Lol did you get to the part about mouse density yet
They really throwing out the useless nonsense stats in their marketing

also
making it 4k
with the option to just turn it down to 2k is totally not an option

I know mouse density is the number one stat in picking mice now
I really donβt get how they used magnesium and itβs same weight as an x2 pulsar
it is larger

the design is also horrible
jagged looking holes
and engravings that try to hard to look like finalmouse
the design screams cheaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap
jagged edges moment
Maybe the mouse will be perfect grip because the jagged holes will cut off any extra flesh that is messing with your grip
Guessing the extra weight comes from inefficient hole layout and the adjustable sensor
This has to be a rushed launch to try beat razer to the news before viper mini steals all their sales
what sensor, switches etc. does it even have
prob razer opticals and a 3395
top spec
or did you mean the pwnage
the pwnage
BTW, lowering the mouse density is easy, you just have to make it larger.
Just make it out of paper mache
It can be small and light
Just make sure not to bring water near it or ragequit
for the weight loss, wouldn't be worth giving up a solid shell
Fug it
No shell
Just hold PCB in barehands
well fuck you meta
never broke a guideline and I don't even know what caused it in the first place
Use magnesium
Git gud at figuring out what wrong you did that you did not do

Classic Facebook
looks like a problem fixed itself
Lol
There is actually a lot of weight they left on the table, from a materials engineer point of view. A part of it is not using different materials efficiently. Carbon fiber is an amazing material in some use cases, but there are many properties that metal can be used for that would reduce the overall weight.
Carbon is only strong in the direction of it's weave. Metal can resist flex in many directions, since metal is conductive it can be used as a common ground, ect... I've sent them a few messages about it.
A thing to mention is that's why if you look at the valve index knuckle controllers use the common ground and it's why part of the chassis is aluminum. They saved weight and added rigidity by using metal in the controller's construction.
Did you use an anime name and profile pic?
only pfp I used my real name
CSM was enabled on my board, bios was so old I see an entry saying improved compatibility with GPUs, it went from aegesa 1.0.7 to the 1.2.7 or whatever it is now and now my old GPU works to see the bios.
What a fun little issue but fixed now, guess there are still new types of issues I can encounter after all these years haha
Top tip, make sure you put the caps on liquids when you finish with them... Just knocked over a bottle of IPA and soaked my 3080 haha... Glad it wasn't my distilled water
I need a new iPad XD
I kinda maybe dropped it enough times it's cursed
None of these inputs are me
Should be possible to swap the glass and the touch layer without the LCD? Though of course that's assuming Apple haven't "fixed" that as well.
I mean ipa is just as bad as distilled
Newer panels are bonded to the digitizer to improve panel performance
Distilled won't lol
Ipa spill can damage thermal pads though
You assume the water doesn't pick anything up while spilled. IPA doesn't really damage pads, unless you're rubbing them together by force. It evaporates in seconds.
I've washed plenty of boards in water, and rinsed with distilled/ro.
A spill of ipa takes minutes to evaporate, especially if the cooler is on
Been there done that lol
We're obviously talking theoreticals here - But IPA is inifnitely more safe to accidentally spill than water. Especially on anything that's running π
Wut
Ipa is extremely conductive
It's a polar solvent
Only 100% pure ipa would be non conductive, just like water which is also a polar solvent
Not to mention ipa is extremely flammable.
But ipa will be just like pure water, any contamination will be converted to ions and make it conductive
At this point I would recommend not dropping liquids into car engines, and not moving goalposts constantly. π
I'm not moving goal posts
Ipa and distilled water was just as conductive out of the bottle
And just as conductive in the card
Difference being IPA evaporates in seconds, water... does not.
But you do you, sport.
And?
If the card is running seconds is more than long enough to short out the card
If the card is off, then drying time is moot. Doesn't matter if it takes seconds or hours, you just wait till it drys
Moving right along, because we clearly won't reach an agreement here.
Calling it improved performance is definitely one way to upsell "so you gotta replace the whole fucking LCD" π
Not it actually improves performance
Apple isn't the only one doing it
They're also not the only ones profiting from selling more LCDs for repairs either.
The gap between them causes internal reflection lowering brightness and color accuracy
And a bonded digitizer is stronger than a one that isnt
As you have to flex the entire display enough to crack the glass
And what two companies supply apple screens?
i ment on their phones lol
does anyone know where i can find this keycap set

Mhmm
anyone know the answer to a question about bottom row ... I have 3 options for order keycaps 6.0, 6.25 or 6.50 and i'm getting two he ...
yooooo
@reef patrol thank you π
i just got the early 2000s case deal of the year
Custom Star wars keycaps here I come π
sucks im never gonna get the second hard drive mount π¦
Well if it's identical to the one you have, you could have it 3D printed or fabricated
its aluminum
with plastic inserts
and i dont need it
just look nice
and make it complete
also missing the pci support
and the rear fan cove/noise reducer

OK, we tried it. It had its ups and downs but you know what... we're excited for Arc again... for some reason.
Discuss on the forum: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1484740-switching-to-intel-arc-conclusion/
Buy an Intel Arc A770: https://...
Took them long enough.
feel like they just got started with this. guess there wasnt as much to go over like with the linux challenge
watch el video
but the tldr is that halfway through all the problems were basically solved and they had figured out all the workarounds needed to make them work right so they forgot they were even doing it
welll not that nice but yes some things were solved
they had 4 parts to the linux challenge. the Arc one had intros and then a conclusion. it would have been 2 videos if they hadnt forgotten about luke
they also had hour long livestream of using arc on different games
so not really less content about it
wow its almost like the linux challenge was alot more problematic for them
thats what I said?
vr still broken is quite sad though
it is, but probably not an issue effecting a lot of people
mhh think someone using vr is probably still more likely to be technically inclined and would give an ARC gpu a shot
VR isnt exactly widespread tho
and if you make it forward looking, not having dx9 and such, then you should make sure the more modern stuff that should work on it does work
and based on steam stats there are close to 3 million vr users
that isn't majority but a relevant part imo
its also the highest paying customers
and arc does support vr, its just a buggy alpha
support yes, I would classify it as unusable based on the issues linus said are still there
they mention it
and what it is, how/why
its also just a conclusion after they already had 2 videos about it and the livestream for different games to test
and for endusers dxvk isn't really relevant in the sense that gn or others should cover it
so is it a 770 or a 4090
oh ok its just weird driver naming that he used
another day another time of apple collecting your data https://twitter.com/mysk_co/status/1619349974034317312
@ashen spindle seems like they fixed the input lag on the Dell Oled
Should be really good on 240+ hz
neat, wonder if there will be an update to newer DW models
Hope so, no reason not to
Did they ever say they wouldn't collect data though? I only recall them swearing they only used to internally to upsell you more but not pass it on to third parties

well indirectly
Not true, I should say it wasn't running the card was on the floor and has been put to dry out.
IPA (this is 99.99%) evaporates extremely quickly unlike water so there is no real risk and it dries faster.
Would have been a bigger pain for water !
I get it from my dad's fab so "free" π€£
99.9 you can order from amazon here
Yeah I just checked and that seems possible here as well (UK), didn't think it was special
99.99 not but nothing special needed just on more chemical focused stores
or maybe on amazon too but I didnt see it
what am I looking at
getting my wooting in about 3~ days, tomorrow i get a mount to bring the ultrawide off the table so i have extra room and get rid of the (what i think is) ugly stand. if i post my "gaming station" here, can anyone provide some advice?
from aesthetics or like
just random thoughts i guess
Take look in #archived_wootstations to get some inspiration I guess? π
zero
thats a boroscope
and i was mounting a new coole
just got the washers on the wrong side
oops for some reason that channel did not exist for me until i clicked on your #
Wootstation is pretty old π
no videos about pytorch on arc π¦
probably still more usable than amd not officially supported consumer cards (most of rnda 2)
I really want to enjoy the steam deck since I want a good but fairly powerful handheld emulation device but I'm not a fan of the controller layout of the deck
I hate it. I prefer either the playstation or Xbox layouts and can't stand using the deck since it feels wrong in every way
Get used to it then
Even if they would've moved the analog sticks to where the touchpads were and vice versa, it would've been far better
But tbf it's rare I used a controller till I got the deck
I kind of wish I used my deck more
My main game atm is bioshock remastered
But I use mostly moonlight on my deck lol
Not for bioshock infinite though
I want something that can do up to decent enough PS2 emulation. But that means I'm looking at either the GPD Win, Ayaneo, or steam deck.
Any game I can run super smooth I will play on the device or if I'm on the go but if at home I'll use moonlight.
Eg high on life I played on the go a few weeks ago π
Or Witcher 3
Well I can get away with PS3 emu
Just not super amazing depending on the game I guess.
I was playing some racing game at 40fps but from what I read some games just won't work well on the deck for PS3 emu
That's why I said those were what I was looking at. They're powerful enough to do what I want but the steam deck is the cheapest but has the worst layout in my opinion. The Ayaneo is like 800$-1200$ and the GPD Win is similar iirc
Ah, gpd win is pretty bad in a lot of areas irrc though
Hell idk. I haven't looked at GPD since the win2
Irrc only some games are on par that heavily use intel or some shit
Unless I'm mixing up
Ayaneo is about on par with the deck iirc other than in cost.
Also why in the hell did steam use a 2230 SSD instead of the more common 2242
Ohh I forgot about the win 4
Because if clearance and something about interference
Also thermals
Everything is perfectly cozy in the deck
You can fit a 2242 however it's hell and causes issues
I wanna call bullshit since I'm skeptical and untrusting and it feels more like they wanted you to choose a more expensive storage option on purchase but I'm sure there's more than just that. They could've given it a little more clearance and the overall device would've been so minimally affected
Not sure but most breakdowns show exactly why it's the way it was.
And for example if you even fail to put on shielding it causes all sorts of issues.
Because like, it's a very very very good nvme.
Well
It was then it was a lottery, idk how it is now.
Also they don't sell the drives so choosing a more expensive storage doesn't make sense from their point of view.
The issue is people drained the market
Before it wasn't super expensive
Yes but that's now. That wasn't during construction. They could've made the device ever so slightly larger and gotten the tiny bit larger ssd in.
